Don’t be fooled the real reason mihawk wears a hat is because he hasn’t been able to control his hair since he was a child.

After reading that the existence of Faust's paper bag hat was partly based on Lynch's 'The Elephant Man' (a loose dramatization of the life of Joseph Merrick) I'm doubling down on the sentiment that his Strive plotline is about healing and self-acceptance over his prior iterations' tendency for artificial cheeriness and putting on a veneer of stereotypical professionality for others' sake despite it only making his mental state worse. I like that Faust seems like he's happier now and more comfortable with himself even if that sense of comfort seems odd to people. It was never about forcing him into a 'regular' mold it was letting Faust exist in his own unconventional form.

The OTHER layer to this conversation kicks in now - where Watanuki was too scared to actually eat them himself. He was scared that he’d forget the taste right away and it’d feed even further into the feeling surrounding his missing memories and his slight case of non-existence. 

Despite his protests, Watanuki allowed Doumeki to taste the cookies, knowing that he’d be able to taste all the thoughts of him. But even when feigning outrage at Doumeki he isn’t able to hide the sadness and fear he has over these problems that have been welling up in him - until the mask slips away completely and he can’t even speak a full sentence. To DOUMEKI, who he is fluent in yelling at constantly. 

But Doumeki prods him with just the right question that propels Watanuki to ignore his initial fears and do it anyway. It’s a thing that perhaps only Doumeki could get him to do, given their relationship - he doesn't even talk about it, he just asks him to repeat it and that launches Watanuki into forging on ahead. Whether it’s out of keeping up his character of “being annoyed at Doumeki”, or not wanting to let him eat them all, or even just the fact that having him physically present takes him slightly outside of himself and lets him realise that his fears aren’t the only truth. Watanuki recalls the idea of Body Memory and allows himself to actually try the cookie. 

It’s as layered and deep as you want to take it, and oh I adore it.

Currently living in a blue state but having to vote (blue) for a red state is... such a horrible feeling. I have no sway, my vote isn't going to win against my state, but I still did it. Even knowing that my extended family are all voting red and I'll have to face them eventually and have to look in the faces of my aunts who did this. Having to look in the faces of my family as someone who they've doomed politically.

Another thing about voting in a different state than the one that I'm living in means that I have no say in the politics of the state that I plan to live in for as long as possible. Its... disconcerting.

Concept: elf tav who is just under 300, all of her children died as adventurers or guards. Her husband and her became vastly different people in the wake of all the grief. They havent spoken in years, incapable of existing around each other before breaking down. The journey after the crash she keeps seeing shadows her kids in the various party members and as such she desperately wants to help them. Save them in ways she couldn't for her own children. A pillar of love and guidance because her children may be gone, but she will always be a mother.
