Someone makes the mistake of letting Deidara exist within 30 ft of a car. Who informed Kakuzu of cryptocurrency? I don’t know, but it’s your problem now. Konan tries Sprite and thinks it’s poison. Zetsu gets flocked by a group of teens that tell him he has a cool cosplay and if they can take photos with him,,, but also gets asked who he’s supposed to be ???

it happened nearly every time they met up, he'd have to be a fool to not notice. and, ITACHI WAS BLIND. NOT STUPID. kisame is meeting with tobi — about what? who could say for certain. it wasn't that itachi couldn't know, they just didn't want to. they were much more content sitting outside of the room, legs and arms crossed, red gaze boring into the floor. to anyone who didn't know them very well, it may appear that they're spacing out. that they're biding their time, daydreaming instead of working like a good member of the akatsuki should. NO. he's studying the chakra patterns of kisame and tobi — kisame's was very familiar to him. it flowed in his body and through his beloved blade, a literal extension of him. tobi's was focused around his eye — ITACHI WASN'T STUPID. he knew tobi possessed a sharingan, just as he did. why he didn't care to share that wasn't their business. and then, there's the matter of deidara across the room.

his chakra was fascinating, seemingly infinite in order to produce the clay he used for battle. and those mouths on his hands! it flowed there too. the mouths, for now, were silent, as was deidara for once. they usually could tell how irritated he was at the present time, as the energy in his body appeared to speed up whenever itachi was near him, but he seemed . . . almost serene. was he sleeping? no, he was awake. his eyes were on them. itachi wondered if he was trying to figure out what they were thinking about — not like they'd indulge him. not easily, at least. a soft smile settles on his face, one that was once commonplace but now was rather foreign on his features. “ i don't think they'll be finished any time soon. ” he remarks, gazing up from the floor, across the room and over at deidara. “ they seem to be deep in conversation. hopefully you didn't have any plans today. ”

He didn’t answer immediately, didn’t even appear to acknowledge the other asides from the slightest shift of his head. They were not friends, of course. He was quite sure Deidara viewed him as some sort of goal to overcome - which, he admitted, reminded him so much of Sasuke that it was almost enough to make him fond of the blond. 

Eyes closed, he sensed out where Deidara stood, anticipating further remarks or for him to leave having had no response. When he didn’t, Itachi opened his eyes, the world before him already dimming. “Fame is not everything.” Clan-killer Itachi. “Sometimes it is a chain around your neck.” Deidara couldn’t know the true weight of his own infamy. How it sat in the pit of his stomach like a sickness, tormented his mind whenever he tried to find peace. 

“Sometimes I wish for anonymity.” He closed his eyes again to the rapidly fading world. “Sometimes I wish for death.”
