Sorry for the long delay.
Part 5 story up now.
@yagiv
Rescue me 5
Shunsui never could pin his family down when it came time to introduce Jushiro to all of them.
His dad and brother were always at work, and his mom had a busy social life. Only the servants kept him company.
It took him two months to finally get them to agree to a family barbeque. He did it by losing his temper and shouting at the dinner table.
“You claim to want to meet who I'm seeing, yet you don't seem to give a damn about carrying that out. You're really pissing me off.”
“Watch your tone.” His father grumbled angrily.
His mother set her cutlery down gently and frowned at him.
His older brother punched his arm.
They finally settled on a date for the barbeque. Two more weeks of waiting. It wasn't really that long, but after it took so long to get them to agree on a day, it seemed to be a ridiculously long time.
After picking Jushiro up and driving to the family's estate, Shunsui was reluctant to get out of the car. Jushiro noticed this and slid his hand onto Shunsui's as it rested on the gearshift. “What's wrong?” He ran his thumb over the clenched knuckles. “Are you ashamed of me, of us?”
Shunsui gave him a stricken look. “God no! It's not that. I'm not ashamed at all.” He let go of the shifter knob and laced his fingers with Jushiro's.
“I'm just so very nervous, I've never brought anyone home before.”
“Well I don't suppose I'm gonna be thrown into the grill, so it can't be all that bad.”
“You….” Shunsui was at a loss for words. Jushiro made everything feel alright. He gave the hand a squeeze and drew it up to his lips and kissed the back of the hand. Jushiro smiled brightly at him. Shunsui then flipped the hand over and began to kiss the palm.
“As nice as this is, I think you're trying to delay.”
“Un huh!”
Jushiro untangled his fingers and ran his slender hand along the sharp jawline. “I'm sure it'll be fine, stop stressing.”
Shunsui kind of pounced on him and they made out in the car for a while.
“Well I suppose we should go in.” Shunsui said with a big sigh. “Time to face the dragons.”
They met Shunsui's brother just leaving as they entered the house.
“Where’re you off too?” Shunsui asked as his brother pulled on his suit jacket.
“Got called into work.”. He paused, looking Ukitake up and down. “Dad's gonna pop a cork.”
“Right, like I actually care what he thinks.”
“You must, or you wouldn't have raised such a fuss.” He hesitated at the door. “Sorry I'm gonna miss it. By the way, you didn't introduce us.”
“Oh, this is Jushiro Ukitake,”
“I don't know that name.”
“My family isn't rich, I'm sure we don't go to the same places.”
“Yeah! Dad's gonna blow up, hope you know what you're doing.”
“I know exactly what I'm doing,” Shunsui clasped Jushiro's hand. He made a rude gesture as his brother went out the door.
“Are you sure about this?” Jushiro was growing worried.
Shunsui nodded, slid a hand around the slim waist and guided him into a strong embrace.
“What if someone sees us?”
“Again I don't really care.” Shunsui sniffed a few times, “Smells like the steaks are going, we'd better get out there.” He gave another quick squeeze to the lithe hand in his grip. “You ready, babe?”
Taking a deep breath, Jushiro pasted a wide grin on his face and nodded.
They stepped out onto the shaded porch and made their way to the table.
Jushiro had never seen such elaborate place settings. He felt out of his depth, but felt another reassuring squeeze of his hand.
Shunsui loudly cleared his throat. Both parents and a few of the staff looked up expectantly. The chef lightly smirked, one maid rolled her eyes, his mother looked slightly confused and his father looked like a thundercloud was forming across his face.
“What's going on, I thought you were introducing us to whom you were dating?” The father grumbled.
“I am!”
“Dearest.” His mother was trying to soothe him. “We assumed you meant a girl.” She was waving an elegant fan to keep the heat off her face. Jushiro could see where Shunsui got his good looks from. His mother was stunning.
“It should be that heiress that was so interested in you at the club.” Said the handsome, yet scared face of his father.
“Helen? Ew no. She's an absolute nightmare snob.” Jushiro would swear he could almost see the gears turning in Shunsui's head as he tried to think of something witty or cutting. “Of course you'd like her, she's just like you.”
Jushiro saw a hand raise and unconsciously pulled away. Shunsui however stood his ground. “Bad manners losing your temper in front of company.” He said with an icy tone, that Shunsui had never used before, at least around him.
“This is my partner, the person I love.” Shunsui draped an arm across a thin shoulder. “I plan to be with him for the rest of my life.”
“You're too old for childish nonsense, you're a man now.”
“...and I get to choose who I love.” Shunsui answered defiantly.
“Then count yourself disowned.” His father yelled.
“Good thing that doesn't matter to me, I have my inheritance from Gramps….you remember him. The one you sent me to live with at the age of seven because you couldn't be bothered with a second son? How many other kids do you have now? I've lost count.”
“Dearest!” his mom chided.
“I don't blame you mom, it's all on him.” Shunsui pointed at his father.
“You need to give an heir to the family, this..” he motioned towards Jushiro. “won't be able to do that.”
“This has a name. He's Jushiro Ukitake.” Shunsui scratched his chin, “My older brother already took care of the heir thing, I'm not obligated.”
“Ukitake? I'm not familiar with that family name.”
Jushiro found his voice in the scary, loud situation. As long as Shunsui was by his side, he felt strong. “My family may not be among the rich families, but I have something that seems to be missing with you, sir.” He wrapped his arm around Shunsui's waist, “My family is full of love and understanding.”
A quiet clapping came from the table where Shunsui's mother was sitting. She beckoned Jushiro over with a wave of her fan and pointed to the chair next to her. “You have sass, I appreciate that, you must be able to wrangle him back in line.” Jushiro paused while sitting down and glanced at her questioningly.
“Does he need wrangling often?”
“More than I care to count.” She let out a soft sigh.
Jushiro glanced over to where Shunsui was still arguing with his father.
Jushiro fought with himself about going back to Shunsui's side but a sudden soft hand on his stopped him and he finally sat all the way down.
“Do they often argue like that?”
“It's such a bother, but yes although it's been less frequent this past year. They often fight about his father's mistresses, and because of that curious look on your face…yes I do know. Ours was an arranged marriage, after we had two sons he sought company elsewhere. I don't mind really.” She flicked the fan in his direction again, “So how did the two of you meet?”
“He didn't say anything?”
“He's been suspiciously quiet.” the fan spread open again and began to move the air around.
Jushiro launched into the tale of how they had met, including Shunsui's repeated attempts at catching the lifeguard's attention.
“That boy has no skill with being subtle.”
Jushiro couldn't help but laugh. The arguing had died down to annoyed grumbling when the family chef declared that the meal was ready.
A loud giggling, scream tore across the patio as a small, raven haired child size missle threw itself into Shunsui's arms. “UNCLE!”
“Hey! How's my little Nanao?”
“Who's your little Nanao?” the child pouted and shoved her glasses further up her nose. She struggled out of his arms and climbed onto her grandmother's lap. Looking up at her uncle she pointed to the pale visitor, “Who's that?”
“Politeness please miss.” Shunsui sat down next to Jushiro. “This is my very special friend Jushiro. Jushiro, this is my lovely niece, Nanao.”
“Why's his hair white?”
Jushiro gazed at her, “When I was younger than you, I got really sick, after that my hair turned white.”
She was leaning over the arm of the chair so her grandmother was able to cut up her meal.
“Is your hair soft?” She was already reaching out to touch
“Very soft.” Shunsui chimed in. Jushiro blushed.
Shunsui's mother held out a fork full of food to the child and she took it, and chewed for a while.
Since it was now quiet and free from questions the remaining people began to eat.
After the meal Shunsui glanced at his father, “Am I still disowned?”
“Your grandfather spoiled you rotten.” The father scrubbed at his face with a large hand. “Your mother hasn't helped that either.”
“You're avoiding my question.” Shunsui propped his chin on his hand.
“Aw hell, I suppose not.” The Father took out a pipe and lit it.
They all spoke together for about another hour. Soon young Nanao began to nod off to sleep.
“I'd best get this little one to bed, you two enjoy the evening.” She signaled to her husband and they left together.
Shunsui and Jushiro enjoyed the sunset while holding hands under the table.

that's a big bulk of pictures but I had so many ideas to draw that I literally had to stop myself from drawing too much lol
had so much fun stylizing them (if that's okay ^^') and thinking of their different dynamics ur ink is especially fun to draw they're so cool...
drawing ur designs also made me notice a bunch of different little details like nightmare having his little gang's souls on his chest, of the lines on dream's and nightmare's faces, or ink's flowy scarf and a bunch of other stuff. and these little details make me appreciate them even more :}}}
DUDE OMG OMG I AM FREAKING OUT SO BAD /VPOS

An AU idea that just won't leave me be Hob defying 'death' to bring Dream back.
If Hob and Dream had just found each other, were in the beginnings of a loving relationship, a real chance at happiness. Would Hob truly accept Dream's death? Would he mourn? Or would he fight it? Hob's just the right side of selfish, just that touch too resolved. Would a man who dismissed death lay down to the whims of fate... Or battle againt it? Even if that means returning something to the universe that's no longer meant to be there. Could reality function with two Dreams? Would he be willing to risk that to right what he saw as an unjust death? And most importantly, what would an 'un' dead Endless be?

Was it odd that when the second demo of Sunny Day Jack came out and it was reiterated how heavily consent was going to be a factor in the game I was thinking about all the noncon/dubcon fics people were going to make?

I'm not the first person to say this, but there really is something groundbreaking about the lack of romantic plotlines in Wolf 359.
Wolf 359 is a story aimed at and about adults. It's partly about what it means to be human. It's partly about how we exist in relation to other people. It's partly about interpersonal connection and understanding. It has character relationships at its heart. It features so many moments of love and care between characters. It takes place across just over two years of the characters' lives, with 61 episodes and a main cast that grows to a decent size.
And despite all this, the show doesn't feature a single canonical 'on-screen' romantic (or sexual) relationship. Perhaps that shouldn't be as rare as it is, but it's one of the many things that makes Wolf 359 special to me.

I wanna know ur Fontaine msq criticisms 👁️👁️👂I’m all ears
I'm not sure if you wanted me to talk about this secretly or publicly but! Here I go!
The TLDR: Fontaine MSQ aestheticised prison, poverty, child abuse, the justice system/court and didn't properly address any of it.
More:
Focalors/Furina has way too much of a sympathetic angle for a dictator who's lets people drown with her inaction.
Neuvillette feels Bad for sentencing some people to death/prison, but that's it. He's one of the most powerful people in Fontaine. If he felt like there are systemic injustices, I.E sending an abused Child to prison, he should be the first person to DO something about it, not just cry and be sad so the audience can be like aw, that's complex character writing isn't it? No it's not! And guilt doesn't absolve you!!!!!!! (These are stuff we deal with in OTCOJ read my fic now /j)
Meropide has children in it, both Sentenced there (Wriothesley) and BORN THERE (Lanoire), and this is just a quirk of the place. Not only that, Meropide accepts prisoners of all genders and crimes. There are abusers and abuse victims in one place. Do you know how bad that is? How much potential for crimes to happen in a place like that— oh wait, Meropide isn't under Fontaine's jurisdiction. If you are assaulted as an inmate it literally means nothing to the court.
Wriothesley had no qualifications when he took over. Depending on how long he lived on the streets, how old he was when he killed his parents, how old he was when he was first taken in by the orphanage, etc, the man might never have more than 4–5 years of formal education. Sigewinne probably had to teach him how to write reports. And do Meropide's spreadsheets. Edit because I forgot to elaborate on this one: This isn't a point brought up anywhere, which is bad, because when poverty and incarceration robs you of a proper education (and the rights to vote in many places too, too, by the way), it reduces your prospects for jobs, reduces many people's ability to get a home etc etc. Wriothesley was just, narratively, Given his position.
Meropide is an industrialized prison, and they portray this as a good thing. Prisoners are paid in coupons for their labour, and this is also portrayed as a good thing.
The One-Meal-A-Day reform was something Paimon gushed about being so great of a perk, that people might want to go to jail for food (could be interesting and reflective of systemic poverty if MHY had brains, but they don't, so I was just Pissed because essentially all Paimon wanted to say was "Prison isn't so bad, but still don't go to prison guys! Prison labour is really hard!"). By the way, in most real-world prisons they are obligated to feed you three meals a day. Because that's how much food a human needs. MHY went with one meal just so they can say "if you want to eat more, you have to work." And then the welfare meal is a goddamn gacha. So imagine you're a starving child who's too weak to work in the fucking robot assembly line, and you wander up for your first meal in 24 hours, only to luck in with a shit one. I'd kill myself.
They wrote Wriothesley, who's a victim of the system, into a guy who's say shit like "I'm the Duke I can do whatever I want" for a cool moment where he choke-slams an inmate (I know he was a bad guy. But also, in copaganda when cops are violent/disregarding protocols, they are always only portrayed to do that against bad guys, so what does our critical thinking tells us about this one?) They wrote Wriothesley, who was an inmate of a prison so bad, so notorious that it is the literal boogeyman of Fontaine, that has a legal (???) fighting pit, with an administrator who abuses his position to be unreasonable, to willingly stay in the place and become an Administrator who would choke-slam an inmate while saying a cool line about how he has the power to do whatever he wants. They wrote him, the guy who had to be fed on the streets by melusines, to think one-meal-a-day was a good enough reform (while he spends god-knows how much on his boat). This wasn't a victim-turns-into-abuser narrative either, they want all this to be seen as positive character growth.
And then, the final kicker is, they gloss over his entire abuse. You can only read about these shit in his profile, which most people don't because they don't Have Him or doesn't care to unlock it/read it online, and they jammed his entire backstory into a flaccid info-dump at the end of his character story quest. This man isn't Allowed to feel abused and neglected and show any reaction to it within the narrative of Fontaine itself, because if they actually Gave Weight to what happened to him, they'd have to confront THE FUCKING JUSTICE SYSTEM they had NO PLANS on criticising. I don't think they ever explicitly said the fucking Crime-Theatre nonsense was Bad either.
I could go on, but this is already so long. But yeah, I hope this gave you an idea.
#and then. and im putting my most controversial opinion in the tags bc im scared lmao. but like... then... you have the fans..... doing......#the same fucking thing.#the amount of times I have seen Wriothesley used as just a side prop for Neuvillette to feel bad about shit. While Wriothesley is just.....#portrayed as having the inner peace and acceptance of a fucking monk. I was shocked when I read some fics I swear#they really said this man has no trauma at all! the stuff in his past? he's over it!#i hate that passivity when writing victims. like ok if One is written like that#sure. but MHY write all their victims like this#I mean look at fucking Lanoire#and Neuvillette sentenced him to prison after he killed his parents who were never confronted by the law. That's canon.#that's more canon than WRLT itself.#why weren't they confronted? did wriothesley try to talk to someone about it? why did he feel like killing them is his only option ?????#at least have there be some sort of conflict and friction there. How does Wriothesley feel about the court and Neuvillette when#this is the literal system that allowed all that shit to happen to him in the first place???#are you Sure he won't be at least a little wary? the fact that some people think he's Grateful to Neuvillette or even idolises him is crazy#because the man literally subjected him to prison. and if you want to portray his prison life as easy breezy and trauma free#you undermine his entire shitty little 'prison reform' narrative#and if you think he'd be completely 100% accepting of the justice system. Then why the fuck would he kill his parents himself#don't you see that the whole 'I'll accept whatever sentence in order to kill my parents' thing in itself is an act of defying the system#and I Hate#this idea. about being some of the most powerful men in the nation. and yet they can't fucking TRY to set up a better system or smth#i can't believe I read a fic where leaving starving street kids croissants is the most they (the characters and the writer) want to do#like. what the fuck. the whole point of that scene is just to make neuvillette feel bad and be like aw......... poor people exist.... OK???#this is literally how MHY would portray him though.... tbf..... This is what ppl would argue as 'in character'#I just think the character they're in is bad.#I will say I'm giving the fic a lot of grief. there's more to the scene than that. and. ultimately.....#fanfic is (saying this through gritted teeth) ........ recreational....................and free........... in the end.................#i dont think this is reflective of the writer. I do think it is reflective of the way the canon material (genshin impact)#presents in the audience who consumes it. most fans only want these guys to fuck anyway. not think about systemic injustices#canon doesn't make it about the systemic injustices either so why should we. the aesthetic of slums and prisons are just there for fun guys#IM JUST CRAZY OK. I SHOULDNT EVEN BE HERE THIS IS NOT FOR ME . I DONT CARE THAT MUCH FOR PEOPLE FUCKING AND I CARE TOO MUCH

me: oh i totally get it if some folks dont jive with same coin theory, plus it's strange to conceptualise at first--
me when i see people call it lame:
Tumblr media
#is it any more lame than bill just becoming a bird after a decade of waiting#they dont understand the poetry of bill creating his own end in the form of someone he despises yet gets everything he wanted!!!#sounds like 'i didnt know about the axolotl poem and was oblivious to the bill reincarnation for the past 8 years' talk!#y'all need to appreciate a good ol bootstrap paradox!!! love me some time shenanigans!#also the funniest thing i've seen when folks were denying same coin theory was#'oh that's a paradox so that clearly can't happen!!!!'#as if both time travel eps arent entirely bootstrap paradoxes that literally points the paradox out#and the fact that soos and stan met is one too!!!#...which then makes any canon divergent aus where dipper and mabel dont make it to that ep have the timeline fall apart lol#but everyone forgets about that so whatever!!!#....yes i have beef with the inconsistencies of time travel in the eps but whatever#..........if the kids replace themselves when time travelling then what about the baby versions in 2002--#could you imagine time travellers pig with a billion time duplicates of the kids tho lmao#my point is a paradox brought this family together canonically#defying time and space and lifetimes and trauma theyre all silly goobers together!!!#anyway here's me grumbling cos it was a plot thread left out for years that we were meant to discuss/think about#too bad we didnt expect the 'bill is too busy in theraprison to get reincarnated rn' twist

just based on the new theme song trailer alone (with the visuals shown to us) — it solidifies my predictions that sylus is the breaker of mc’s curse. it feels like with all the LIs existing at the same time in the current timeline, the present day narrative is going to affect what the original men know of the future.
if sylus was imprisoned before in some way, somehow, and we saw him pretty much get himself out in his cinematic trailer — it’s again an emphasis on the fact that he is INSANELY powerful. sure, his evol his energy manipulation (sounds scary as is) & it seems like it’s a foil/mirror to mc’s evol (energy resonance, or something like that).
anyway, sylus does NOT give a fuck! this man is going to brew a storm of chaos and end it on his own terms.
