sorry to bother you and please delete this if it's too obnoxious but can you explain what was going on in that last post with the "smol bean hitler" thing I have cognitive issues and definitely want to block at least one of the people involved but I don't really understand what's being said?
Okay I don't blame you for not understanding it because there's a lot of context there. I will do my best to give a rundown of the situation and explain everything to the best of my ability, but my account of the events might be incompelte because I really didn't witness everything.
A little over a week ago, tumblr user siwolism made a post about how she watches a lot of videos about korean fried chicken, and she had noticed a trend in the comments of these videos: a lot of those videos had comments from americans (mainly black americans) bragging about how the only reason why koreans have fried chicken is because african-american soldiers took the recipe to korea during the korean war. She said that as a korean she found these comments uncomfortable because for korean people the korean war was an extremely bloody conflict and korea hasn't still fully recovering from its effects, and americans displaying such pride about any of the things they did during the korean war is an appalling display of american chauvinism. And that the fact that black americans were displaying the same chauvinistic mindset that she would have expected from whtie americans showed that being black or any racial minority in america doesn't exempt anyone from the privileges of american imperialism or the chauvinism of defending it.
At some point I got involved by making a comment on the post, about how I found it silly that people were insulting op and tagging the post as "#tw antiblackness" when all she did was complain that it's downright evil for americans, regardless of race, to joke about the time the USA invaded korea so violently that 1 out of every 10 koreans got killed.
(I still stand by that, considering that the post didn't complain about black ppl in america in general, only about the ones that she saw acting in a specific chauvinistic way, and despite how much people have accused her since of "singling out" black americans as the main beneficiaries or defenders of american imperialism, the post went out of its way to make it clear that this was just a manifestation of a wider problem that applies to all americans regardless of race)
I also made another addition to the post about how i think many of the people making those comments were probably motivated by the way so many african-american inventions in the US have their roots erased once they become popular with non-black people, but that in my opinion they were failing to understand that, despite how superficially similar they may look, "a black american telling a white american that they should be thankful because black people invented jazz and rock" is a fundamentally different situation from "a black american telling a korean that they should be thankful because black people brought fried chicken to them during the war", because the power dynamics between these two countries and the history of the korean war fundamentally changes the situation.
These additions in particular picked up a lot of steam, which somewhat accelerated the post in question breaking containment.
Siwolism was accused of being antiblack for using the term "amerikkka" in her post. Your mileage may vary on that one, but regardless of your opinion I don't think it invalidates any of the things she said in the post.
She was accused of erasing the racism and oppression that black people face in the USA. She repeatedly clarified that she (like any serious anti-imperialist) recognizes that racial minorities in the imperial core face racism and oppression, but that their oppression in that axis doesn't erase the fact that living in the imperial core puts them in a position of privilege over people in the imperial periphery.
She was also accused of erasing anti-black racism in korea (which is a complete non-sequitur tbh, unless you're interpreting her post as "all black people oppress all korean people" and not "black people in america have the capacity to act in imperialistic ways toward people in other countries"). She clarified that she thinks racial discrimination in south korea is a serious issue, that she faces a great deal of it as a north korean immigrant of hui chinese descent, but that she obviously doesn't have it as bad as the discrimination black people face in korea. However, she said the situation of a black person from korea and a black person from america is not the same with relation to imperialism, and when a black soldier is stationed in one of the numerous american military bases in korea they don't face the same struggles as a korean black person because they're acting as part of an imperialist occupying force.
As the post broke containment, she faced increasing levels of harassment. She started getting anons calling her anti-asian slurs, particularly someone who called her an "antiblack gook bitch", "gook" being a slur extensively used by american soldiers to refer to koreans during the korean war.
(that might have been the same person who left me an anon calling me a "fucking antiblack beaner" in response to my additions to silowism's post but who knows)
She also had multiple anons telling her that they hoped she and all her friends got killed by the next american soldier they encountered, which is especially vile considering that american soliders stationed in military bases in south korea have a history of killing and commiting sexual violence against korean women and facing no consequences for it, to the point that the US government coerced the South Korean government into signing a treaty that prevents any US soldiers caught comitting such acts from being tried in a South Korean court.
At some point she psoted the following meme
Tumblr media
This is a meme that has been used numerous times on this website to make fun fo the way how a post gets misinterpreted in increasingly ridiculous ways as it gets further away from your mutual circle. I think it's clear that none of the categories on the right are targeted specifically at black people, but instead at the people running with the worst possible interpretation of anything she said in her post (a lot of whom weren't even black americans, I think it's important to acknowledge that a lot of them were white americans who were pissed of that imperialism were being called out and decided to amplify the accusations of racism because it was a progressive-sounding way to shut down discussions of american imperialism). Still, a lot of people ran with the worst faith interpreation of it and started talking about how she "literally said all black people are illiterate chimpanzees"
She also, at some point, after days of continued harrassment, told one of the people harassing her to hang themselves. Again, people ran with the worst possible interpreation of it to talk about how "she's literally sending lynching theats to black people"
Eventually the harassment was so much that she deleted her blog.
Almost two weeks later people keep playing telephone with increasingly outlandish misinterpretations of the things she said, resulting in the tags you saw screenshotted on the post you're referring to, where someone accused her of "implying black people invented imperialism"
so yeah like I'm not going to tell you who to block or even to block anyone at all, but that's my attempt at catching you up to speed on what's going on in that post.

i think the first thing that started EVERYTHING was the first ever (recent) distraction method success story not the one where it took the girl 1 year after trying but the one that who made her dad being a billionaire 😭 which then spiraled to everyone trying the method which ALSO then made chronically online people try so hard to discover liars. if everyone in the loa/void community would actually take the time to do research on shifting realities AND manifesting then there should be no rising suspicion that someone is lying because they magically became a fire breathing dragon.
i’ll mostly target that debunking person since i know her minion will most likely repost it so i’ll just come after both of them. the ruby thing was obviously a lie because if you were to move to china then she would obviously NOT be able to use tumblr because a LOT of social media is banned in china.
i don’t know much about the luv manifesting stuff and how people blew up into believe that shes that other girl but hey thats just the internet 😹 its actually so hilarious when people try so hard to prove someone is lying also when having no proof in return yk? like if someone were to manifest 300K in their bank rn and someone replies “proof?” and then when the other person replies “am i obligated to show you?” and then it explodes into now such and such is a liar LOL. nobody owes anyone else proof, anyone who harasses people are sick and disgusting people.
**goes out to all the people who involve themselves in post that don’t involve them**
you are a insufferable person and a pot stirrer when it comes to drama. if it hits you in the wrong way then i definitely hit a nerves and YOU are the primary source of this entire thing🤣🤣 get off the internet seeking for drama and go get a job. let alone a LIFE (which 99.9% of you LACK)
idc if they replied to the message or not. it quite literally proves my point.
anyways 💋.
I totally agree!!! There’s literally nothing they can say to redeem themselves in any way. They’re making drama because they don’t believe in themselves. Oh my godddd.

#Also I think it should be made fully clear that like 90% of out and proud supposed punks who DO listen to the music and walk the talk#Are 'posers' by their own definition because poser is often incoherent or a no true scotsman thing#It is ultimately a sense of aesthetics and music taste and nothing more but many of them are deluded into thinking it is political activism#A guy in my network has ACAB and trans rights and all that in his bio while dressing punk all the time and sharing obscure bands#And then he's like “haha what if I got a picture of this subtly transphobic meme but with me instead of the guy” one day#And his reaction to being told that was at best a bad idea is essentially to say “but I want to” and do it anyway#The “you can't be punk and go against a bunch of Tumblr Rules like Be Mean” line is absolutely to cover for bad actors#So many punks are proud anti-intellectuals and counter-revolutionaries with bigoted tendencies#Speaking as a punk#Someone who claims they are punk I often see with the same eyes as someone who is an anarchist while saying you don't need to read theory#IE a very unserious person playing at politics like a child at best#And they ALL play at politics due to the nature of the music
This addition is so important: a lot of people who ascribe a lot of deep political meaning to punk tend to have extremely incoherent vibes-based politics. It's the whole "fandom as activism" thing but applied to a genre of music.
The whole "well punk is actually about not conforming so by listening to Taylor Swift I'm actually the most punk person in the room because I'm not conforming to expectations of what punk is" is funny but like it's also kind of based on a sort of elevation of punk into something it really isn't. It's a music-based subculture with an associated aesthetic, as music-based subcultures are wont to have. That's it.
Now I understand the impulse to be "well I do like the punk aesthetic but I don't like the music because it sucks ass so can I just take the aesthetic and then make claims about punk that divorce it entirely from its roots as a music-based subculture," well good news is you can do that and arguably people have been doing that for ages. Like, very famously two of the people at the center of the birth of the punk subculture, Malcolm McLaren and Vivienne Westwood, cynically used the subculture as a vehicle to sell clothes, and since then there have been multiple fashion designers who have been like "wow what if we could sell the aesthetics of rebellion to people without any of the nasty associations with smelly moshpits? That'll be two thousand dollars for a pair of pre-ripped jeans and a studded leather jacket."
And like. Significantly there is literally nothing that people in the punk subculture can meaningfully do to stop you from wearing a plaid skirt and ripped fishnets and combat boots and biker jacket and telling everyone that you don't really like the music but actually punk is about being kind and remembering to vote for the Democrats. But also significantly, people within the punk subculture also have a term for people like you: poser.
Also the music does kind of suck on purpose.

Neil Gaiman is an abuser and disgusting and no one should still be trying to defend this man. I hope his victims heal and can move forward and I hope they get to see some form of justice. I hope he never gets to abuse anyone again. I hope no one wants to work with him ever again. I hope his son is safe and someone gets him out of that environment.
I already said a lot about this last summer when the tortoise podcast first came out. But since everyone on tumblr has to have an opinion, I have a few to add.
"He wrote Calliope! Why are you surprised?" "He's a Zionist! Why are you surprised?" "He was raised in the Scientology cult! Why are you surprised?" "He-"
No.
The majority of fiction about sensitive / problematic / harmful topics is neither an endorsement nor a confession.
Being terrible in one way doesn't always/necessarily mean you're going be terrible in other ways. This mindset gives "you should have seen the signs" which is kind of a lot reductive and is within spitting distance of the victim blaming county line.
After an SA, someone in my social circle said to my face as ... a joke?... "what did you expect? dude listened to dave matthews band."
???
The signs are always there. Clear as day in the rearview mirror. And those signs can vary greatly. Anything can be a sign if you want it to be, I guess.
Remember when that guy Ted Bundy worked at a Suicide Hotline? The scariest thing to me is that a common sign of violent abusers seems to be an involvement in the causes to HELP victims.
I think we go looking for flashing neon signs like this because, simply, a wolf in sheep's clothing is far more terrifying than a regular ole straightforward wolf.
And this JKR vs. NG discourse? Who is making this a "which terrible person is the more terrible person?" contest? And what the fuck is wrong with you? Hate the artist, love the media. You do you. If you want to denounce great things created by terrible people, put down the phone, tablet, or computer you're reading this on because the guy who invented the transistor was a eugenicist and a racist.
NG acted this progressive, feminist ally type persona in all kinds of ways. And meanwhile was doing terrible shit, abusing and grooming and controlling and manipulating, and ultimately causing a lot of first direct harm, and now that the truth has come out, a huge blast radius of (indirect?) harm.
JKR continues to espouse and encourage vile discourse that fans the flames of transmisia/transphobia, putting trans lives in danger. Joanne spends so much time trying to police and influence the definition of "woman" that she attacks cis women - thus further endangering BOTH trans people and cis women in her crusade to...protect...women.
They've both done horrible things. DIFFERENT HORRIBLE THINGS.
There's nuance, of course. It would be great if we stopped giving these people money. My Good Omens fandom family - I know we're hurting. I really hope you plan on pirating any of the related media you would otherwise stream, going forward. Don't worry about David and Michael, the rest of the cast and crew. They'll be fine.
Fuck all of this "it's not about you." How in the hell? This man is a public figure. The reason we make a big deal about it when public figures abuse their power is BECAUSE THIS IS ABOUT ALL OF US. The world shifts when something like this comes out - AS IT SHOULD. Feeling discomfort or rage or sadness right now is normal. Channel those intense emotions. Figure out how to make constructive use of those emotions to try to help create a safer more nurturing world. And remember why you were forced to face these feelings this time - because Neil Gaiman abused women and those women went through absolute hell but were brave enough and strong enough to come out against such a beloved famous man because they wanted to make him be held accountable. Because they don't want him to get away with this. Because no one else should ever have to go through what they went through. Honor that. Honor what they went through. In NG's case, being such a public figure, the absolute scale of coverage with these allegations and accounts, we can only hope he never gets to victimize anyone else again.
That should be the focus. Not this noise of tangential discourse, not the autistic kid who has a special interest who wants to keep posting fan art on tumblr. That kid hates him too and has already said so.
I get it that when the news first broke in July a lot of folks didn't want to believe it. I didn't want to believe it. There was a lot of rationalizing about the media outlet. Look, denial is one of the stages of grief. Fans were shocked and grieving the death of a figure they respected and looked up to. You don't have to have an unhealthy parasocial relationship with someone to feel betrayed when they do terrible things. And, my god, the time we live in. Misinformation and disinformation is rampant. Wanting more information, wanting to take some time to investigate something you've heard is actually responsible, generally speaking. But a week after that news? Two weeks? A month? 3 months? If you're still defending him, denying these allegations, and wanting more "proof" at this point? Fuck right off, you need psychological help. That's not an insult, that is concern, from a fellow human being. You are unwell. I hope you get better.
Good Omens gave me my joy back after years in abusive relationships, multiple SA's, death after death of people I loved, fucking cancer, medical hell. I can't just turn off the love of this media or the love of this fandom I've connected with. I don't want to turn that off.
I'm not going to say "Neil is an abuser - BUT he helped create my special interest." Because that ain't it. "Neil is an abuser - AND he helped create my special interest." No justifying, no waffling, no moral superiority, no flagellation. These are just two facts.
Believe the victims. Tell everyone you'll ever meet that this guy is scum. Throwing away that book you bought 10 years ago won't fix anything. Believe victims. Donate to or volunteer with DV orgs and shelters. Set and respect boundaries in your lives and fucking check in about consent. Believe victims! Don't be silent when someone you know is being "kinda creepy." Believe victims. And take care of yourselves!

@blade-liger-4ever You’re not going to downplay what your friend stated when the original response is RIGHT here - where she states that we should be okay with being raped.
Tumblr media
Additionally, “women who ship Kataang are more in danger of being raped” is a dangerous AND exaggerative statement to make because there’s no proof of this. All women are in danger of being sexually assaulted. Their consumption of fictional relationships does not enhance or reduce their chances of being sexually assaulted. Please look up sexual assault statistics before spewing nonsense because you want to appear morally superior for your choice in ships.
Let’s get to the crux of this exchange: there’s no greater good that you or @guardiandua think you’re protecting women from with your tumblr posts. Quite frankly, you want to win a moral argument when it comes to shipping. That’s what this has always been about. I don’t even believe guardiandua’s claims that she’s “team katara” when, from the very beginning, the entire point of her ask is that she’s bitter that people are critiquing her interpretations of Katara and Aang in a YouTube COMMENT section. When you put fanon ideas out there and try to sell it off as a fact, OF COURSE people are going to disagree. People have the right to disagree about anything. Crying about it on tumblr won’t change the fact that they still won’t agree.
I haven’t seen a single Kataang shipper defend the Ember Island Players non-con kiss. The narrative itself paints Aang for being in the wrong. Should there have been more narrative repercussions? Yes, definitely. But stating that Aang’s actions in EIP shouldn’t continue to define his actions in a long-term relationship does NOT mean women who ship Kataang are more likely to be raped; what a ridiculous statement. Especially when the same people calling Aang a rapist for his actions in EIP have no issues shipping Aang with someone else, like Toph.
If Kataang shippers deserve to be raped for “defending” the EIP kiss (as per GuardianDua’s words) or are in danger of being raped (as per your own words), what about the Zutara shippers who glorify the scene where Katara is kidnapped by Zuko and tied to a tree? Why is that no longer problematic fandom behaviour, especially given the amount of missing and murdered indigenous women? What about the shippers write non-con and dub-con Zutara fanfics (and there is a LOT of those)?
Zuko also acted extremely possessive, jealous, and entitled around Mai in The Beach - yet you both seem to be only blaming Mai for his actions. I could bring forth the argument that shippers who defend Zuko’s actions in The Beach, such as yourselves, are in danger of ending up in relationships with highly jealous, possessive, and potentially abusive exes. Does that sound about right to you both?
Again, you nor guardiandua don’t really care about protecting women from a fictional imaginary threat. Or think you’re doing something important in the name of feminism. All you’re doing is trying to seem morally superior over shipping. That’s it.
And yes, saying that real women deserve to be raped over fictional ships does, in fact, make me question people’s understanding of the world and the individuals around them. I’m glad we could both reach that conclusion.
And sorry, what exactly did guardiandua handle maturely? She offered no apology to the real women she offended; she didn’t retract any of her statements. She didn’t even apologize to me for wasting my time. You’re coddling this grown woman for no reason when she hasn’t done a single thing.
Even more bizarre, she was angry over Kataang shippers on YOUTUBE, and instead of handling it like an adult, she took to blaming Kataang shippers on tumblr? Like WHAT?
Hello,
I just wanted to say I am open to any arguments against Zutara...if you can do it without insulting me. Someone who puts out ad-hominem attacks against me...I can't take them seriously because to me, if a person needs to insult you, its a distraction technique to discredit. I never called anyone a loser - a toddler until I was insulted first. If you cannot do that, well I've blocked you anyway but if you send anyone else from your little posse (you all have similar language and writing so I'm thinking it may just be one person with multiple accounts), do let them know. If they insult me as a person, they will be blocked. If they're respectful and just attacking my argument, I can respect that.
Not sure what the point of sending me an entire ask only to have blocked me will do, but sure, I’ll entertain it.
The core of my response always critiqued your argument. I only referred to you as a weirdo - the choice of insult that you used YOURSELF in your original response - for not only stating that women who ship Kataang would want to be raped themselves, but willingly WANTING them to be raped. That’s where I draw the line.
I’ve provided more respect for you than you’ve given any of us, to be frank. I went out of my way to say that you’re entitled to consume and engage in any fanon you want; you’re entitled to exploring the realms outside of canon in transformative works. On the other hand, you’ve made it very clear that you think people who ‘glorify’ ships that you have a personal moral problem with deserve to be sexually assaulted. So excuse me for calling you a weirdo; I think I was actually being way too kind in my response!
I’m not sending anons to chase you down. This is just a guess on my end, but hmmm… usually people don’t really take it too well when someone on the internet says that they should be raped for what they like in a fictional story. So the multiple people attacking you probably came after reading your own filth, believe it or not, which - might I remind - you put in the TAG. I didn’t have to do a single thing, nor did I care enough to. If people are still sending you comments and asks, then that’s their right. This is tumblr and I have no control over that.
Lastly, people have tried to approach your arguments in good-faith, as disrespectful as you’ve been, and you’ve still blocked them. You’re not interested in being open about anti Zutara arguments. If you were, you’d unblock us and offer an actual response.

happy 25th birthday techno, not a day goes by where the world doesn’t miss you. o7 rest in power
I’ve heard of a sky with a thousand suns
Just beyond a veil.
I’m told the wonder’s beyond reproach
And our world - but a mirror - seems pale.
You left to see those thousand suns
That cast the heaven’s light.
There are no shadows in that world, just endless sunlit skies.
So when my star grows old and pale
And burns out like a lamp
I’ll join you in that land of suns and see you once again.
Here are the closeups, tumblr did in fact eat the original lmao

Inspired by The Definition of Love and All Things Ineffable by @elvensorceress on ao3
Everything is still. Quiet. He stares like he’s never seen. He probably hasn’t. But it sings through every cell in his body. Eddie… the things Eddie sees as love…
Eddie breathes slowly and wets his lips. “All I know about the kind of love you’re asking about? Is you. Love, to me, is you.”
Buck knows it’s true because he feels it. He’s always felt it. He’s never really doubted the strength and depth of their bond, just how to qualify it.
