It was on a somber, rain-swept spring day that Eddy’s body, weary from months of relentless illness, finally surrendered to its affliction.
Eddy was laid to rest beside Helena under the brooding canopy of oaks, the family bringing small tokens of remembrance—flowers, candles flickering against the wind, and the heavy scent of earth mingling with the rain.
Though the Coombes were invited to both funerals, they failed to attend. Silas muttered something about business obligations, while Edith claimed prior social engagements, revealing their priorities in stark relief. Despite their long-standing friendship with the Harrington's, it seemed societal stature was most important.
Other Farmers the Harrington's had worked with gathered in to respect Eddy and Helena’s memory.
In Loving Memory of Edward Harrington 1860 – 1908
Eddy, who had once lost everything to illness and economic despair during the Silver Panic, sought a second chance in Henford. With nothing left but hope, he returned to his old countryside hunting shack-
only to find it occupied by a prostitute named Helena.
Eddy chose compassion, allowing her to stay with the stipulation that she refrains from bringing clients to their home.
Eddy, grew fiercely protective of Helena, and once stood against an abusive client, further cementing their partnership. Despite living in extreme poverty, their spirits remained unbroken, scavenging and laboring to survive.
Eddy grappled with the heavy burden of their situation, often going into town to drink, Their struggle intensified when Helena revealed her pregnancy.
Rather than abandoning hope, Eddy doubled his efforts, employing his craftsmanship to support their burgeoning family.
As a man of the old west, Eddy clung to the traditions he believed in, resisting the tides of the encroaching industrial age.
He envisioned a future grounded in the family business, he believed that this was the rightful path for his children—Silas, the heir to his legacy, and Lucile, prepared for a life of being a perfect wife.
Eddy & Helena raised their children with the idea Silas, being the 1st born son would inherit the business and Lucile would be trained to be the perfect wife.
Eddy’s aversion to change became a defining trait, his stern demeanor masking a deep-seated fear for his loved ones' futures. He wielded his paternal authority with a heavy hand, driven by the conviction that he was shielding his family from an uncertain world.
Despite his rigidity, Eddy’s actions were fueled by an unwavering devotion to those he cherished, striving to create a stable and prosperous life for them.
Eddy lived to the age of 48 & is survived by his children, Silas and Lucile.
Rest in peace cowboy... you will be missed.

Following on from the recent sad new that @jius-sims is retiring from making custom content for the Sims 4, I wanted to put together a bit of an ode to their incredible work. I don't think there's many lookbooks I've made that don't use at least a pair of their expertly crafted shoes. This post isn't exhaustive and I highly recommend checking out their back catalogue of work because their creations are truly next level. CC links under the cut.

Spring 1916
~an excerpt from Elsie Sewell's private diary~
Spring has arrived! The calendar has been saying it had been here for weeks, but today it really and truly made its presence known. The east field is awash with flowers and I simply had to stop and pick a bouquet, they had the sweetest scent and the most delicate yellow petals. Mamma was rather irritated that it made me a bit late coming home, but I can't very much see why. I was back with plenty of time to prepare supper (she had an Aide Society meeting) and the house smelled ever so sweet as I did. No one complained about my victual offerings either.
I am quite pleased to be done with the schoolhouse; sums and grammar were always ever so boring and pointless. It is ever so much better to spend the day with work that actually has to be done, rather than made up to torture us. I enjoy most housework, cooking and sewing in particular, but laundry... There's something about that specific task I have not yet resigned myself too.
I think we all have that particular chore that we dislike more than the others, though none of the adults will admit so to my face. Laundry is a necessary evil though, or we should all go around naked, as Adam and Eve did in the garden of Eden, and the climate her could never allow such an indulgence, so laundry we must do.
It does feel good to be helping around the house more and take some of the burden off Mamma; I can't imagine how she did all this work on her own for years, it's quite a lot between the two of us. Despite my continued propensity to "dawdle" as Mamma puts it, she still sends me on all the errands, I think she likes having the house to herself just as much I like the walk into town. Sometimes Lydia accompanies me if her mother also needs something fetched.
The general store is the best store in town, it's filled floor to ceiling with everything you could ever need. Dottie's always mighty pleased to see us and if she's busy Mr. and Mrs. Greenfield are always so sweet to me. Sometimes Mr. Greenfield slips me penny candy in with my orders with a little wink.
Dottie, Lydia and I don't see each other as much as when we were in school, but now that we're older when we're finished with chores and housework we have so much more freedom to go on walks or sit down by the inlet. The sun hits the old dock down there in the afternoon and it's so pleasant, especially if there's a breeze coming off the water.
We chat about anything and everything; Dottie always has all the news of the town since she talks to just about everyone at the general store. Mamma says it's wrong to gossip, but she always says that after I've given her all the news. Lydia is such a hoot, she has the strongest opinions on everything and everyone. Just the other day she was informing (lecturing one might say) us on the proper etiquette for accepting a proposal; according to Mrs. Parr proper young ladies should never accept their first proposal, they must refuse and wait for the man to ask again, that's how she'll know he's serious and will make a good husband. Apparently she turned Mr. Parr down thrice. Dottie and I both thought that was completely silly. Mamma said yes to her first proposal and she seems quite content with her lot.

1810s english countryside farmhouse - historically accurate
Still building historic homes! This time it’s an early 1910s English farmhouse.
It belongs to a well-off farming family who own a considerable amount of land. Though the house is old, they've kept it updated with renovations over the years. It has electricity, and they recently installed a telephone.
The house features four bedrooms: a master, a double for guests, one for children, and a nursery. There's a well-equipped kitchen, a spacious bathroom, a large family room with a dining area, and a small parlour for entertaining guests or enjoying afternoon tea.

Newlyn Fisher Clothing Set
I come to you today with this little historical seaside fashion interlude (before going back to work on more 1880′s sets). This set includes cable knit sweaters in high and low waisted, and variations on traditional fishermen smocks. More pics and download below
This set is partly inspired by the works of the school of Newlyn, a group of painters known to have depicted the surrounding of Newlyn, a Cornish coastal town, and its many fishermen in the 1880′s to 1900′s. And here is the painting that I referenced in the promo picture.
————————— Cableknit Sweater ————————
———————————————————————————
This is the sweater from the Werewolf pack without the little laced up strings on the shoulders (why do you always add these unnecessary details EA ? 😅). I’ve made a short version (S) for my high waisted needs and a long (L) version, for both masc and fem frames, as well as both adult and children.
Cableknit sweaters originated from Ireland, in the Aran Islands, though other types of knitted jumpers called gansey already existed in the British, Irish and Channel isles. They were created between the 1890′s and 1900′s. They were initially knitted with unwashed and undied wool. Both the natural lanolin from the virgin wool and the knitted patterns made for water resistant sweaters and as such : good alternatives to the previously used ganseys made of oiled wool died with indigo.
These Aran sweaters slowly became some fashionable sportswear item during the 20′s and 30′s, and later reached its peak popularity in the 50s’ and 60′s worn by the likes of Grace Kelly and Steve McQueen.

2 lenghts : S & L
——————————— Vareuse V1 ——————————
———————————————————————————
Vareuses are a style of fishermen smocks with a V neck. This style was typical of Brittany fishermen though I have seen depiction of Norwegian fishermen for example sporting this style of smocks on 1880s paintings too. While I couldn’t find substancial informations on their origins and date of appereance, vareuses seem to have been used at least as far as mid 19th century and were still worn as work wear up til the mid 20th.
It is said that traditionally fishers wore different colors depending on their fishing style : yellow ones for those shellfish picking, rust colored ones for those using fish traps, red ones for oyster farmers and blue ones for those fishing in the open seas.
Fishermen smocks were oiled to be water repellant and worn on top of clothes and knitted garments to protect them from water and keep them relatively clean.
On this 1st version of the vareuse I’ve not put any clothing “underneath” to allow for warm weather and for combinations with accessory shirts or turtlenecks.

——————————— Vareuse V2 ——————————
———————————————————————————
This 2nd version of a vareuse include a cableknit jumper sticking out of the V neck collar. The set also includes an overlay to pick the color of said cableknit jumper.
33 solid swatches
39 solid swatches on the cableknit overlay (located in the right wrist section)
for all ages
————————— Cornish Crewneck ————————
———————————————————————————
Similarly to the vareuse, the crewneck is a style of fishermen smocks. This style is traditionally associated with Cornwall, in the north west of England. Cornish crewneck smocks were used similarly to vareuses.

The children shook in their stockings when their father approached, seeking their permission to invite his friend into the manor. They couldn’t believe it. For the past few years, their home had been a sanctuary limited to only two guests: Paul and Elaine's physician. The proposal of introducing someone new, particularly a "lady friend" of their father's, stirred a whirlwind of emotions within his children.
Edmund sensed their initial apprehension. They had been isolated for so long, cocooned within the walls of the manor. The idea of accommodating an outsider in the comfort of their own home felt both exhilarating and unsettling. In the end, they did agree. Cecily, Josiah, and Elaine did, at least. In truth, they wanted to become acquainted with the lady ever since learning of their father's frequent outings with her.
The three youngest children peered out from behind the arch of the door, eager to catch a glimpse of their father and his companion as they spoke quietly upon their arrival in the foyer.
Elaine was the first out, running straight into her father’s expecting arms. Meanwhile, Cecily and Josiah focused their attention on her. Josiah, ever the blunt one, took it upon himself to inform their guest of his father’s zealous cleaning spree in preparation for her visit, only to find the floors still lacking in cleanliness. Simultaneously, Cecily warmly welcomed their new guest, offering to be her guide through the expansive manor.
Imogene was captivated by the children’s warmth and innocence, their small voices blending in a chorus of curiosity and excitement.
Unnoticed by the bustling gathering in the foyer, Eugene observed silently from his position on the stairs. He sat with a brooding gaze, casting a disapproving eye upon his overly enthusiastic and excessively sharing siblings, as well as his stuttering father. When his gaze fell upon Imogene, a surge of frustration stained his vision red. Was everyone in the house touched by madness? It was a question he had pondered for years, and the resounding answer remained unchanged: Yes.

Basin Shower
This is a 'shower' to match my Pitcher and Basin Set. Your sims will be able to wash themselves without waiting for their weekly bath or for their 6 siblings to be done in the tub.
It's a bit tricky to place. The basin has nothing to do with the placement except that it's the part you hold. You can put the basin on the other side of the wall if you go too close, so if it vanishes, check there. The important spot is invisible once it's placed--you NEED the spot in front of the basin and to the immediate left clear, or your sim won't be able to reach it.
Clutter the basin up as much as you like, including putting things inside the basin. These all work in game.
I don't recommend the last one, but it will work.
It's designed to work with the dresser from Cottage Living. It floats a TINY bit on counters, but you won't see that unless you're at eye level with the counter. You can use move objects to raise it if you're willing to ignore your sims floating when using it, although there is a limit to how high it can go before sims can't reach it. If you want to put it on something lower, you can make that thing bigger or put something on top of it. You can place it using move objects onto things it doesn't want to go on, but if that thing is functional, you shouldn't because it can cause routing issues for that thing--not for the basin though, as far as I can tell.
It does NOT go into slots. Don't be surprised if a sim puts a toy or a dirty dish inside if you place it in the same place a slot exists. You may want to fill slots first and then place somewhere that has no slots it if that concerns you.
It comes in the same 8 swatches as the basins from the original set, which match the multitude of swatches for the pitchers.
Everything is properly tagged for the base colour. It should be off-the-grid compatible. I say should, because these (and the sink from the first set) are my first OTG items, and while they're based on in-game OTG items, OTG is tricky to get to stick.
152 polys. Costs 100 simoleons.
Important info:
Leave the space in front of and to the immediate left of that clear! That's where the 'shower' is.
There is no water effect, because that would mean water falling from mid-air.
There is no soap, because that goes with the water, unfortunately.
Can break, but will not visibly break. That also goes with the water.
Can get dirty, but just like the sink, it will not get visibly dirty. I had to choose between transparent or solid water, and transparent won. Visible dirt was with the solid water.
Sims can do everything that they can with a normal shower, including shaving if you have high school years, EXCEPT woohoo.
This has custom tuning. That makes it slightly more likely to break in a patch. If it does, I may not notice if I'm not actively using it in my game at the time. PLEASE let me know if you're using it and it breaks.
It does not have custom animations. Sims will act as if water's falling on them. Not so noticeable if you play with the game's mosaic, but if you play with the mosaic removed, it may look odd. I am not an animator, so it is what it is.
The water does not move. With the sink, I was able to move things around and make the surface move a bit when in use. When I tried that with the shower, there was water falling out of the cabinet underneath.
