Got the Daemon Prince with Wings, Mortarion, and the Deathshroud Terminators for my Deathguard now. Hubby put them together for me since he liked putting miniatures together. Gonna spray them down later this week, either Thursday or Friday.

Warhammer and watercolor! These two pages have some concept work for my custom Deathguard paint scheme.
I wanted to be able to eventually field both death guard or emperors children as a warband that can do either. However knowing games workshop they won't release emperors children for like 3 years. Once I finish painting my blightlord terminators I might see if I can get some good photos of them with their bruised purple armor to post here.

Today while patrolling a local hive The Patchworkers came across DeathGuard setting up their foul icons. After a tough fight the 661st was driven off taking heavy losses, severely damaging a infamous defiler named Bruce and a pair of contempor dreadknots. A brave lone guardsman killed the warlord, a putrid daemon prince, sending him back to the warp, however his Cadre of blightlord terminators cut a wide swath through our forces.
Lessons Learned:
Hydra over wyvern
The vanquished cannon needs sharpshooter via tank ace
Pay attention to what special weapons are where, positioning of tanks and command squads
With 12 Infantry and 6 vehicles more command elements are needed and better designation of command
The gate keeper cannon is big badda boom
Need to test out strategic reserves potentially catachans with twin flamers and vox caster to suicide in, come in dump flamers and charge, when voxcaster dies, fire on his position, a purely trade tactic.
Deathstrike missles are useful for area denial but artillery might be overrated
Remember warlord traits and command phase to do list

I started a project that can’t be rushed. My Nurgle chosen. The first three fell together like gifts from papa Nurgle himself. They were meant to be. First model being the chosen champion. Who simply just took a power first from the deathguard. Probably my least favorite but still cool.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Number 2 is the brainchild and best of my creations. A truely badass mofo. The combination of the pose from the chosen kit and the giant axe from the deathguard kit created one of my most favorite poses I’ve ever seen. It makes me wish I had put more thought into the champion. Which is why I can’t rush this.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Number 3 here carries the badassery to glory with the build. Utilizing pieces from both the blightlord kit and the plague marine kit to build a giant flail of corruption for my boy to smash with. Truely possessing the gifts of Nurgle.
With extra icons and bits included all over the 2 non champions, they really carry what I originally expected when I started my warband in 2016. The champions cool and I’ll use him and keep him as is, but In comparison to the other 2, he just doesn’t hold up. Which is why this squad can’t be rushed, I need the right bits and poses for the squad to be perfect. I want dominate characters with big plague weapons. And to do this, I have to wait and play it slow. It’s not like I don’t have lots more to do while I wait.
My warband has changed a ton over the last 6 years, and the release of the deathguard as a whole army definitely changed directions. But a lot of people just assume I’m a deathguard player. And while I do have a heavy presence of their models now, I’m still true to my original cause. I run a chaos warband dedicated to Nurgle. I’d live for its glories and losses to inspire me to write a book on it all eventually. I want my warband to be lord damnit. I guess step one is naming it and the warlord.
And a FYI for what i have chaos-deathguard ratio. I have:
40 marines
2 chaos lords
10 chosen
2 obliterators
1 venomcrawler
8 chaos terminators
2 hellbrutes
1 chaos space marine deamon prince
2 predator tanks
30 cultists
5 chaos bikers
1 master of posession
15 havocs
2 greater possessed
15 possessed
2 forgefiends
Where as for deathguard I have:
1 lord of contagion
1 plague caster
1 plague burst crawler
6 myphitic Blight-haulers
1 bloat drone
29 plague marines
5 blightlord terminators
3 deathshroud
30 poxwalkers
1 noxious blightbringer
Well that’s all for now. Thanks for listening. Any questions, then leave a comment, I can respond but it will be with my main blog since it won’t let my studio blog be its own entity. XD

All the tables were being used for me to practice today. So the hubby and I decided to a 'Magic the Gathering' style kinda play. I've used my Test Play Legion which consists of 30 Poxwalkers, a Deathguard Hellbrute, 6 Plague Marines, a Plague Champion, Typhus, Mortarion, a Death Guard Chaos Lord, and a Biologus Putrifier. So 920 points out of a 1,000 point army. Got down to my Dearh Guard Chaos Lord and my hubby's Magnus the Red. Lost that battle.
So the second battle we did, my army was the same but 950 points out of a 1,000 points. This army didn't have the Poxwalkers. Instead had Deathshroud Terminators and a Death Guard Daemon Prince with Wings as the only two differences. This battle brought us down to me having Mortarion and the hubby had Magnus the Red. This battle I did win. I still have a lot to learn about playing Warhammer 40k, which is fine.
Plan on starting to paint my minis with the base coat here soon. Still need to get about 35 paint colors that I'm missing before I can paint. So, getting the base coat out of the way will be fine for now.

Deathguard - Deathshroud
Tumblr media
"Even whilst we fight, we watch. Even whilst we kill, we judge. Mids't war's full fury, still we see. Midst all your guards, still we strike. We are the Death Lord's icy gaze. And we are his reaping blade."— Oath of the Deathshroud
The Deathshroud, or Deathshroud Terminators, known as the "Pale Harvestmen," the "Scythes of Nurgle" and the "Eyes of Mortarion," are Chaos Terminators of the Death Guard Traitor Legion who serve as the Daemon Primarch Mortarion's elite warriors. Every one of these plague-ridden Heretic Astartes are redolent with a miasma of fear and menace. Such a reputation is richly deserved. Swollen with unnatural power, the Deathshroud tower over their enemies. Rusted gauntlets and squirming tentacles clutch huge battle scythes known as Manreapers, cursed weapons that slice heads from shoulders and limbs from torsos with every swing. Clouds of plague flies boil around the Deathshroud, while vile smog spills from vents in their armour to choke and blind their foes.
The warriors of the Deathshroud are sublimely skilled, whirling and striking with a speed that belies their massive, distended frames. Yet it is not merely their abilities in battle that make them so feared. The Deathshroud are the handpicked champions of Mortarion, his dark emissaries, and wherever they go they bear the authority of their gene-sire with them. They rarely speak but to convey Mortarion's commands, and when they do so their voices emerge as a rattling hiss. The Deathshroud fight in ominous silence, uttering no battle cry and rising to no challenge, embodying the faceless, wordless onset of inescapable death as their shadows fall across their enemies.
History
During the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy eras, the Deathshroud were the elite Space Marines of the Death Guard Legion who served as the Primarch Mortarion's mute Honour Guard. Great secrecy surrounded this elite cadre. Their numbers were chosen from amongst the ranks of the Death Guard Legion and each member was singled out and personally selected by their Primarch for the bravery and valor they had displayed in combat. Once chosen, the selected Battle-Brother would forswear his former life as a common rank-and-file Astartes of the XIV Legion, and would swear binding oaths of secrecy as a new member of the secretive Deathshroud. Each member of the Deathshroud would be listed as killed in action to allay any suspicions as to their true identity, and they would forever conceal their faces behind heavy enclosed helmets, masks or hoods. Each Deathshroud Astartes' identity was known only to their Primarch himself, even after their deaths.
The Deathshroud wore Artificer-crafted Cataphractii Pattern Terminator Armour of the highest quality, which presented a foreboding appearance. Like their Primarch, each member of the Deathshroud wielded a large Power Scythe known as a Manreaper. It was the Deathshroud's sacred duty for at least two of their number to never stray more than forty-nine paces from Mortarion. These stoic warriors' presence was quite intimidating as when not in motion they would stand uniformly at attention, still as statues. But in battle they were equally frightening, for whatever the odds, they always moved inexorably towards their target, as unerring as the automated killing machines employed by the Legio Cybernetica. Their fate after the end of the Horus Heresy remains unknown.
In battle, when not fulfilling their role as their Primarch's bodyguards, Deathshroud squads consisting of two to ten members were typically used to assail the most heavily defended objectives on the battlefield and secure them for the advance of other allied forces. Deathshroud squads sometimes made use of Land Raiders as transports in order to achieve this role.
Post-Heresy
Mortarion still recruits the Deathshroud in this same fashion, but their battlefield role has changed since his ascension to daemonhood. Now the Deathshroud are his representatives, his iron gauntlet that can be extended to shield or to crush. Though the Deathshroud often still fight at Mortarion's side, bands of them are also dispatched to form honour guards for Death Guard Chaos Lords, Plague Surgeons and other Champions of power and importance. Their presence is a mixed blessing at best. The Deathshroud will fight with all their skill and strength in support of their assigned Champion, and prove to be an undeniable asset in battle. Yet all the while the Deathshroud are judging upon their master's behalf. If the Champion is successful, the Deathshroud depart at battle's end, leaving as silently as they came. If their charge fails in his duties, however, the judgement of Mortarion is swift, deadly and utterly inescapable.
Notable Deathshroud Members
Khorak - Veteran Sergeant Khorak and his squad had the privilege of serving as part of their Primarch's silent honour cohort during the Istvaan V Drop Site Massacre and as such took part in numerous counterattacks against the first wave of the Loyalist assault. The most bitterly fought of these were against the leading edge of the Salamanders Legion attack, where pure flame met noxious chem-cloud in a confrontation that left many Death Guard, but many more Salamanders, slain. At the height of the massacre, Squad Khorak fought beneath the gaze of their Primarch himself, and were girded to redouble their bloody efforts and to redouble them again. In the face of such redoubtable power, not even the elite of the Legiones Astartes could stand.

Mina vänner, å mina kära vänner,,
Soooo 30k and 40k are just,, War Crimes Unlimited©️, but even they have some things that are legit,, disturbing and/or revolting to employ on the battlefield.
Now, the Promethium that we use in Flamers, Incinerators, etc is the GW version of jellied/liquid petrochemicals under high pressure streams. That in of itself doesn't seem too terrifying,, until you realise that Promethium can be mixed and laced with various other substances,, like say a bio-agent that causes not only you to burn, but also break you down on the cellular level as acids eat through your cells and nerves. (See the Death Watch or the Hellfire rounds that are used on the Tyranid Hivefleets)
Then you got the ACTUAL warcrime weapon,,, Phosphex. THIS is what even the FEKKING Death Guard hesitate to even dare use on battlefields because of the horrific aftermath and it's high probability to just turn round and eat their own soldiers.
Phosphex is poorly understood; acts almost as if it's alive/semi-sentient; eats through flesh, bone, ceramite, solid rock and Adimantium; burns under water; barely needs any atmosphere or fuel to sustain itself; and it's fallout is stated to be ungodly worse than even atomic fallout, leaving worlds barren for decades if not centuries.
And the worst part? It was not widely used by the Traitor Legions (heck the Deathguard would only use it if there was like a unanimous vote by the leaders and no other option was available.) But guess who used this happily?
THE DARK ANGELS. Deathwing Terminators would have Phosphex Incinerator Cannons spew this burning toxic gas that reduced Traitor Marines in the hundreds into ash and soot stains. (Angels of Caliban novel, Part 1(?), Chapter 4(?) has,, details.)
(yes the Word Bearer's Ashen Circle used Phosphex,, but used it more to burn down any material or monuments or holy sites that were not in line with Lorgar's vision of Faith.)
Fun story though,, a Rogue Techpriest of the Mechanicus destroyed the STC that was being used to make Phosphex weaponry, he had seen it's effects first hand and deemed it too horrific to ever be used again, so he led his Skitarri on a war to get to the database that held the STC and deleted it. He was later labeled a Heretek, and burned at the stake,, by one of the few remaining Phosphex Pistols.
The Mechanicus uses now Phosphor weapons (white phosphorus weapons basically,, ask the Aussies amd Americans about those, totally not war crime material either. Noooo.)
