Making Speedsters in Fantasy TTRPG AUs
Class and Power Selection
First, the spellcasting class that fits speedsters(fluff-wise) the most is actually Clerics.
Their powers are a direct result of being chosen as the champions/children/conduits/avatars of the Speed Force(one of the Seven Forces of the Universe, on the same level as the Emotional Electromagnetic Spectrum as a whole).
Their top speed and additional powers are influenced by their belief and faith in their capabilities more than any set limits.
Plus, there's at least one comic where Barry and Wally use their electrical aura to make a flash that destroys/banishes creatures of darkness, Barry apparently has the ability to heal people of Anti-Life, and Wally straight up calls the Speed Force "God" at one point, albeit in a semi-joking manner.
I will also mention that their DC Wiki articles list their powers as "Speed Force Conduit", not "Speedster (Physiology)".
The "magic aura of wind and colored lightning" visual indicators of their power usage and the constant time travel shenanigans have been expanded into full primary themes for a lot of the class selections, just because of the nature of fantasy settings and because those sorts of subclasses often have movement abilities.
Now, onto the actual character building- both for fanfic and for creating a playable character that is blatantly an expy. (Don't worry, there are a lot of non-cleric options, despite my rant.)
D&D 5e
Best Class/Subclass Options: Cleric(Tempest Domain), Monk(Four Elements or Open Hand), Bard(College of Swords), Rogue(Scout)
The Speedy/Mobile feat and Athlete feat are pretty essential if you're making a speedster- just note that 5e feats replace an Ability Score Improvement, which come at 4th, 8th, 12th, 16th and possibly 19th level(some classes have another class feature instead).
College of Swords Bards are a relatively melee-focused Bard subclass, with a focus on style and speed- including multiattack at 6th level. Blade Flourish also includes a 10-foot walking speed bonus on a turn you make an attack, in addition to the more lengthy "spend a Bardic Inspiration to add a bonus effect to a successful attack" part.
Tempest Domain Clerics don't have many speed-related abilities, though they do get a fly speed at 17th level. The main reason they're on the list is because Speedsters Are Clerics.
Monks gain a speed bonus while unarmored, and are also Dexterity-focused combatants. They're just better for a purely martial-class speedster than a fighter. Four Elements has Warlock Invocation-style Elemental Disciplines, while Open Hand is more purely martial.
Scout Rogues are a pure mobility-focused Rogue subclass, with a movement speed increase at 9th level and a 3rd-level starting ability that lets them move half their speed as a reaction whenever an enemy ends their turn within 5 feet.
All in all, D&D speedsters would probably be a martial class, and 5e just doesn't offer much character customization.
Let's move onto Pathfinder, which offers a lot more customization and fitting subclasses/abilities, and thus requires a cut for readability.
Pathfinder 1e
Best Class/Subclass Options: Cleric of Desna(Travel and Liberation Domains), Oracle(Time, Winds or Heavens Mystery), Sorcerer(Destined, Djinni, Air Elemental, Stormborn or Dreamspun Bloodline), Kineticist(Aerokineticist Element), Magus/Rogue(does not have subclasses)
First, feat options. There's a number of direct movement/agility-enhancement feats- Lightning Reflexes, Improved Initiative, Dodge, Mobility, Nimble Moves, Step Up, Spring Attack, Wind Stance, the many, many feats that have one of those as prerequisites, etc. Wind Stance and Lightning Stance grant concealment while you move, but most of the others only need to be explicitly picked if you're going to be rolling dice.
Azata Style feats require Dodge and Mobility as prerequisites, with Azata Sprint requiring Wind Stance. They're overall good flavor for a speedster- Azata Style gives you a bonus to AC in turns when you move at least 15 feet, Azata Mischief lets you trip people who fail attacks of opportunity against you and Azata Sprint increases your ground speed and lets you ignore difficult terrain.
For Cleric deity choices, I chose Desna since she's a Core 20 god that has both Travel and Liberation as follower domains, but making the Speed Force a deity in your setting rather than using the Golarion gods would fit okay.
Travel Domain clerics gain a 10-foot base speed increase, and both of their domain powers are movement-enhancing. You need it.
On the other hand, Liberation's first domain power removes penalties to your mobility. It can be replaced with another domain such as Luck or Air if you want.
Winds Oracles have Wings of Air(flight speed, minimum 7th level), and a lot of other air and lightning-related revelations, as well as having Acrobatics, Fly and Escape Artist as class skills.
Time Oracles have Speed or Slow Time(free haste/slow once per day, minimum 7th level, Temporal Celerity(initiative enhancement), Time Hop(short-range teleportation, minimum 7th level), and lots of spells that replicate things Wally, Bart and Barry have done before.
Heavens Oracles have Lure of the Heavens, which gradually lightens their footsteps until they can actually fly for short periods. Their other revelations don't really fit well, but the theme of "stars and harmony with the universe" kind of fits with the flavor(much like Time, but to a much lesser degree).
The problem with Oracles is that they have a Curse, a disadvantage that grants thematically appropriate benefits at higher levels while never fully dissipating. I feel Tongues works best, since Hunger grants a bite attack, and speedtalk could maybe be represented by Auran.
The Stormborn-bloodline Sorcerer has Dodge and Wind Stance as bonus feats, as well as a lot of air and lightning-themed bloodline powers. The Aerial Wildblooded bloodline replaces Thunderbolt with Control Winds.
The Air Elemental and Djinni bloodlines are pretty much identical save for their capstones- Elemental Body vs Limited Wish 1/day. They both offer a fly speed at 15th level, as well as several agility-related bonus feats.
The Dreamspun bloodline offers Combat Precognition, and with the Visionary Wildblooded bloodline, Visions(which effectively acts as divination once per day while asleep).
The Destined bloodline offers a bunch of luck-manipulation mechanics, and a heavy thematic tie to fate and time.
Overall, Sorcerers mostly offer the side themes, but could be good for when you're trying to pretend that your character most totally isn't an expy, or to explore alternate character interpretations. Or just because you think those themes are cool.
The Kineticist is blatantly elemental-themed, but Aerokineticists have a number of movement-related wild talents, including Wings of Air and its prerequisite Air's Leap. Simple.
Maguses and Rogues are pretty standard Dexterity combatants. The difference is that Rogues focus more on stealth and trickery, and Maguses are half-casters that can enhance their weapon attacks with spells.
I'd recommend looking at Archive of Nethys for details on character creation. Since Pathfinder runs under the OGL(Open Game License), only the Golarion-setting fluff is copyrighted, and all rules elements are free to access.
Pathfinder 2e and non-fantasy RPGs, as well as other characters, will be covered in a later post.

"Ascension to Godhood" that is not only at the cost of personhood like a price to pay, but purely the logical, inescapable consequence of godhood. The culmination of all your efforts to attain freedom into an existence that is devoid and has no use for the concept of freedom. Little is spoken of the agentivity of a plot device.
The martyrs and the ghosts haunting the narrative, the fairies and the monsters and the witches lurking at the end of the forest and the deus ex machina only written to wait for the hero to come and be awarded a quest or a curse or a choice or a boon.
You can't ever happen to it. The story either happens to you, or you become the story.
(This is a very old story.)
And of course, there is no other ending to the story.

medieval resident evil au where Umbrella is a cabal of dark mages trying to unlock the secrets to lichdom and go mad learning secrets from the undead eldritch horror outside of space and time
Chris and Jill are Knights in service of the Order of Stars, Leon is a beginning town guard, Ada is still a spy, honestly not much is different
If you give them ttrpg character sheets then it's even more fun
Would guns be wands, badass Crossbows, or straight up magic, or different based on the game? They could also just be guns but that wouldn't be nearly as interesting.
Consider pistol=dagger, rifle=longsword, shotgun=axe? Grenades could be hand bombs or magic.
Or pistol=hand crossbow, rifle=light crossbow, shotgun is either special bolt or a spell
Beneath the cobblestone streets of raccoon city, where gaslamps and auto-carriages ramble, is the lair of an evil sect of mages developing spells in secret to transform humans into beasts
Could be very bloodborne-esque. Lots of fire and brimstone. Maybe STARS are more like paladins, and the bsaa is an order of Templar type organization.
If we go dnd 5e rules, Chris is a fighter for sure, Jill is like a rogue I guess? Leon could go either. It could be fun to make Claire like a sorcerer since she gets the grenade launcher
In later games I think Chris definitely fits either paladin or barbarian, where Leon goes for more rogue/maybe ranger vibes. Jill seems more rogue+fighter but magic rogue is cool, maybe artificer. Claire would be sorcerer multiclass I think. Keep any mages low powered that way.
Sherry in 6 is maybe warlock or aasimar instead of Cleric? Blood hunter would be cool. Rebecca starts as a Cleric in 0 for sure. For a low magic setting where research and Rituals are matched by quick, small combat spells, how high of a DC do you think enemies would go?
Of course, in a classless system like gurps or all flesh, this would be a lot less restrictive. What would be the best system for resident evil normally? What would be the best one for its fantasy au?
Wesker very much fits the low-fantasy vampire theme. He has a reflection and can step in he sunlight but wow it hurts his eyes. Chris rolls a 20 to punch a boulder to death.
Leon has the lucky feat or 20 in dex or something to pull off his stunts. Chris also gets Charisma as a leader for the bsaa, so paladin is up his alley. Leon's secret service requires more rogue skills, but his time in operation javier trains his skills as a Ranger under Krauser maybe?
Jill and Claire both get grenade launchers, but Jill is more Rogue with her lockpicking so it makes sense for them to switch level ups later on as claire learns more professional skills for rogue training.
Barry definitely hits fighter/barbarian with his heavy weapons. Jake is maybe more monk/barbarian but with something like a dhampir ancestry feature? Sheva is maybe rogue/fighter or paladin fighter since thats when chris starts taking paladin levels. Billy has to be rogue/fighter I think, or maybe fighter/rogue, if he even gets a second class. It would almost make sense for him to be pure rogue and rebecca be cure cleric, since she retires to become a researcher and hes never heard from again. Helena is I guess just plain rogue, hinting at her role in 6, while Leon has his ranger levels. Piers is more rogue/Ranger (or fighter archer). A lot of the one off teammates just don't get super interesting classes as a consequence of their limited appearance. Carlos... Fighter? Just fighter is fine.
Now, the problem here is that each game starts off with little to no equipment for various reasons. In the case of our spell casters like claire and jill, we can't just de-level them between adventures in the resident evil campaign. But we could give them more limited access to spell components to match the resource management of survival horror.
This is more complicated outside of dnd 5e, where a game like All Flesh Must Be Eaten has very different spellcasting rules, so you'd need to stray from a low-magic to a straight low-fantasy setting. Alchemist tools and one use spell scrolls replace your grenades and spell casting maybe? That's the issue you'd run into with treating the setting as one campaign instead of each game as an individual campaign though.
The easiest one to do is RE8. It's literally the same. Ethan starts 7 as a human Commoner, takes levels in artificer as the game goes on, since that one introduced crafting, and comes back very subtly as a human variant with a few new levels in fighter from chris' tutoring. Hey that means we can give Hiesenburg an artificer friend! Class buddies ♡ hiesenburg is probably artificer/sorcerer, giving him charisma and intelligence. Dimetrescu is maybe barbarian if she even gets class levels.
I don't think we can justifiably say Rose is a variant human, I think she gets her own custom ancestry features for this. Sorcerer also feels better than Druid for her, but a couple levels in - you guessed it, rogue! Cover her gun and Stealth skills. You get a lot or rogues and fighters in low powered/low fantasy settings, who knew lol

Writing Commissions opened!
My partner is physically disabled, and PhD households aren’t eligible for most forms of financial support. Which means we’re a little hard up at the moment. So, having successfully written 100,000 words of fanfiction, I figured I’d open up my commissions 😊
I will write both long and shortform content, with just about any amount of spice. Gen Audiences to Explicit, Friendship fics to full smut, Yaoi, Yuri, AUs, Furry, Brony – it’s all good with me!
My prices are £10-15 per 1000 words, depending on the complexity of the task.
You want Liaos and Kabru to make out? That’s £10. You want Guilemann to top Lorgar at Monarchia in the writing style of a HH book… That’s £15.
There may also be an additional charge of £1-5 per 1000 for particularly extreme gore/other sensitive content – this will be discussed ahead of time.
There’s a deposit of 50%, and the rest is payable once the commission is finished.
_____
Fandoms I can comfortably write (this list is not extensive):
Games: Fallout, Dragon Age, Mass Effect, Pillars of Eternity, Pathfinder (TTRPG, Kingmaker, WOTR), Baldur’s Gate, League of Legends, Silent Hill, KOTOR, Rogue Trader, Kenshi
Animes: Dungeon Meshi, Deathnote, Kuroko's Basketball, Rising of the Shield Hero, Girls Und Panzer, Fullmetal Alchemist (Brotherhood, 03), Chainsaw Man, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Pokemon, Yugioh
Films/Shows: Supernatural, Doctor Who, House, most Marvel, almost all animated DC films, Star Wars, LOTR, Hazbin Hotel, Arcane
Other: Warhammer 40k, Warhammer Age of Sigmar, Fallen London/Sunless Sea, DC Comics, Les Mis, Phantom of the Opera, ASOIAF, Dune, Good Omens, Trench Crusade
I also have a pretty strong background in late-medieval history – so if for some reason, you want your Alistair/Loghain enemies to lovers to feature historically accurate clothing, armour, etc. I’m your guy.

I realized I don’t talk too much about the more writing-focused stuff I work on, meaning no one would know to ask me questions about this stuff when I reblog “please ask me about my OCs” posts lol. Here’s a quick overview of stuff I’m working on.
“Fleshed out” OCs (Reference sheets can be found here!):
Vex, (he/they), funny shape shifting demon-ish guy who runs a coffee truck
Zana, (he/him), Saiyan who wants to reconcile his Saiyan heritage with new Earthling culture, exists in an AU where his Saiyan “bloodline” find & replaces Goku’s
Alex, (any/all), Keyblade wielder from The Real World who has been sucked into a world that combines and connects a bunch of video game worlds together (except not anything touched by Kingdom Hearts lol), who doesn’t know much of anything about video games
“Alternate Universes”:
The AWF, the (WWE Create A Wrestler) wrestling promotion that’s focused on “what if superheroes were pro wrestlers” that I make YouTube videos for
Earth-AP, a DC AU we used for our superhero actual play podcast. Basically exists as a “what if I made Ultimate Spider-Man but for Superman and the DC universe at large, and also made it a TTRPG setting” setting.
Long Point Station, a Star Trek fanfic series/setting that takes place on a re-commissioned Deep Space 4, now called Long Point Station. Short stories follow Max (he/him) and his friends as they set up a coffee shop on the edge of Federation space.
Please feel free to ask my anything/everything about this stuff, I love to talk about it even if I don’t advertise that I love to talk about this stuff lol

2023 Fallout OC Census- Results
At long last, it's here! This time, we had 593 usable responses.
(There are a few categories I haven't analysed just yet, which is mostly because I have Ideas for how to display that data. Please stand by…)
Getting right into the numbers...
Game
Fallout (original): 18 Fallout 2: 8 Fallout 3: 59 Fallout New Vegas: 214 Fallout 4: 160 Fallout 76: 28 Fallout Tactics: 2 Van Buren: 13 A spin-off, AU or mod: 14 A TTRPG campaign: 13 Multiple of the above: 41 None, just the Fallout universe: 22
Are they the in-game protagonist?
Yes: 328 No: 203 It's complicated: 61
Species
Unmutated human: 444 Ghoul: 51 Synth: 41 Ghoul-ish: 13 Other mutant: 9 Supernatural/spiritual being: 7 Robot (non-humanoid): 7 Super Mutant: 6 Cyborg/android: 5 Unknown/it's complicated: 2 Other: 7
Definitions of a few categories, just to clarify exactly what's in there:
Ghoul-ish: Refers to all characters who are partially ghoulified, ghoulify during their storylines, and unique characters with primarily ghoul-like traits
Other mutant: Refers to all characters who are specified to have unique mutations from any cause, unless they better fit into the ghoul-ish category. This is a very diverse umbrella category, and in past surveys has included everything from characters specified to have 76-style mutations that basically function as perks, to a character similar in form and nature to the Master
Gender
Cis woman/girl: 217 Cis man/boy: 154 Trans man/boy: 76 Nonbinary: 47 Trans woman/girl: 27 Agender: 16 Genderfluid: 7 Genderqueer: 6 Man/boy, unknown or varies if cis or trans: 5 Transfeminine: 3 Bigender: 3 Demigirl: 3 Woman/girl, unknown or varies if cis or trans: 4 Butch: 2 Demigender: 2 Questioning: 2 Intersex: 2 Lesbian: 2 Māhū: 1 Multigender: 1 Queer: 1 Transmasculine: 1 Unlabeled: 1
Bonus answers I enjoyed: [redacted], a man in a certain sense of the word, cat, doesn't care for this, eh, God knows, a link to the Wikipedia page for Stone Butch Blues, it's complicated, man of questionable gender, no gender left beef, lost their gender in the war, people assume she's a woman but she doesn't really care, whatever's funniest, yeah
Where are they from?
In previous OC survey location maps, I've only included a single data point for each character, regardless of how many places they may have connections to. However, this time I've decided to include each place that a character has lived as one data point.
The list of assumptions I use when creating these maps:
Arroyo = Oregon
Mojave Wasteland = Nevada if no more specific locations provided
Capital Wasteland = DC if no more specific locations provided
Vault 101 = DC (I feel like this one isn't geographically accurate, but it's to fit in with the above assumption)
Washington unqualified = Washington state, not DC (even for Fallout 3 characters, especially since I know of a Fallout 3 character who is intended to be from Washington state)
Appalachia = West Virginia unless otherwise specified
NCR = California
Legion territory with no other information given = Arizona (this feels like the biggest generalisation of all to me. Maybe take the Arizona count with a pinch of salt?)
'Near X place' = in the same state as X place
I go by the current fifty US states. No splitting of California or considering Canada to be part of the US
Locations that could not be easily defined or placed in a specific state/country (examples: the US as a general answer, multistate regions of the US, continents, or extraterrestrial locations) have been excluded for the purposes of this map
The map for the US:
Massachusetts: 104 California: 79 Nevada: 77 DC: 74 Arizona: 32 West Virginia: 25 Texas: 17 Utah: 15 Oregon: 14 Colorado: 13 New Mexico: 7 Virginia: 6 Maine: 6 Idaho: 6 Pennsylvania: 5 Illinois: 3 Washington: 3 Louisiana: 3 Florida: 3 Wyoming: 3 Tennessee: 3 New York: 3 Rhode Island: 2 North Carolina: 2 Minnesota: 2 Vermont: 2 Alaska: 2 Missouri: 2 Nebraska: 2 Michigan: 2 Indiana: 2 Kentucky: 2 Oklahoma: 2 Maryland: 2 Montana: 1 Connecticut: 1 Georgia: 1 New Jersey: 1 Wisconsin: 1
And the map for the rest of the world:
Canada: 7 Mexico: 7 UK: 7 Russia: 4 China: 2 Australia: 2 France: 2 Brazil: 1 Ireland: 1 Israel: 1 Finland: 1 Germany: 1 Japan: 1 Panama: 1
Further breakdown of characters from the UK: Wales: 4 (…these are all my guys, what can I say?) England: 2 Unspecified: 1
Has this character ever lived in a vault?
Yes: 223 No: 366
Faction
Minutemen: 99 Railroad: 86 Followers of the Apocalypse: 80 Brotherhood of Steel: 77 Yes Man/Independent Vegas: 63 NCR: 50 Caesar's Legion: 38 Original faction: 36 Institute: 26 Kings: 16 Great Khans: 14 Nuka-World raiders: 13 Mr House: 13 Raiders in general: 13 Goodneighbor: 11 Enclave: 11 Arroyo: 9 Think Tank/Big MT: 8 Reilly's Rangers: 7 Underworld: 7 Ciphers: 7 (would you believe me if I said the majority here are not mine? XD) Responders: 6 Acadia: 6 New Vegas Strip in general: 6 Lyons' Pride: 5 Children of Atom: 5 Megaton: 5 Gunners: 5 Boomers: 5 Powder Gangers: 5 Cult of the Mothman (all variations): 4 Crimson Caravan: 4 Chairmen: 4 Mojave Express: 4 Necropolis: 3 Shady Sands (pre-NCR): 3 Vault 13: 3 Twin Mothers: 3 Diamond City: 3 Freeside: 3 White Glove Society: 3 Vault-Tec: 3 Bishop family: 3 Regulators: 2 Tunnel Snakes: 2 New Canaan: 2 Gecko: 2 Settlers/Foundation: 2 Abolitionists/Temple of the Union: 2 Galaxy News Radio: 2 80s: 2 Desert Rangers: 2 Unity/Master's Army: 2 Vault 76: 2 US Government: 2 Broken Hills: 2 Sanctuary: 2 Blue Ridge Caravan Company: 2 Goodsprings: 2 Cutthroat raiders: 2 Feral ghouls: 2 Hub: 2 Ghouls in general: 2 Nuka-World in general: 2 Little Lamplight/Big Town: 2
And the list of factions with one response, allegedly for the sake of something called 'brevity': Boulder scientists, Vault City, Littlehorn & Associates, Jacobstown, New Reno, Brotherhood Outcasts, Marked Men, Mole Miners, Treeminders, Forged, Junktown, Triggermen, Free States, Vault 101, Vault 81, Slags, Hubris Comics, Bunker Hill, Rivet City, Van Graffs, Ug-Qualtoth, West Tek, Vault 95, Novac, Atom Cats, The Outer Worlds factions, Commonwealth Super Mutants, caravan companies in general
I was initially planning to include a separate 'ish' category for each faction, to account for characters that are aligned with factions unwillingly/temporarily/out of necessity, but looking at the dataset, that sort of situation was so much more prevalent than I realised and quickly made everything very clunky.
Main approach to problems
Diplomacy: 211 Combat: 147 Stealth: 101 Technical skills: 79 Avoidance: 53
And finally for now- preferred weapon type
Small guns: 191 Melee: 128 Energy weapons: 91 Big guns: 82 Avoids combat altogether: 49 Explosives: 27 Unarmed combat: 24
-
As always, thank you to everyone who participated and gave me a little information about your OCs! If you'd ever like to talk more about them, my inbox is always open :D. Getting to learn about everyone's brainchildren is definitely my favourite aspect of my tangential foray into the Fallout fandom sphere.
My future plan for this dataset includes… a lot of pie charts, to put it mildly. As I've done for past survey datasets, I'll be compiling pie charts for each question, separating responses by the game that the characters are from, and we'll see if any trends emerge!

Hi, I'm Ikibli!
*I do not have a credit card or cash to spare! Donation asks will be deleted unread!*
An armchair biologist slash fic writer, who enjoys worldbuilding and making elaborate AUs. They get pretty weird at times.
She/they(I need no label, just no he/him pronouns). I am lesbian and aroaceflux(never more than gray-aro but can be allosexual).
I am also a dragon therian.
My Ao3 is also Ikibli.
Currently in the DCU and Star Wars fandoms, though I have written for BNHA and Marvel in the past and enjoy making crossovers with TTRPGs. Don't ask me to pick just one blorbo- singular favorites are for people confined by binaries.
My current blorbos are Hal, Barry and Bart, with Wally, Dick and Tim also being my blorbos to lesser degrees
I have schizophrenia, ADHD and autism, and it shows in my work- mostly in how off-the rails the plot tends to go and the amount of casual projection.
@apple-eating-goat is my IRL sibling.
#not a reblog is my...well, non-reblog tag. #i added something also has a lot of new content.
#character creation for ttrpg aus and #dc ttrpg aus contain a half-finished series I'm working on.

I love your many many Thads, I was wondering do you have any OCs based on or connected to the other members of the core four? they don't have to be finished or neat even if they're just a vibe I love how your (DC) mind works and want to know more!
oh thank you for asking but tbh the thads au is the first time ive created ocs for a universe that i didnt also create (beyond ttrpg characters obvi, but those ones are even more niche and specific to my own personal interests than the thads au already is)
i mean the tmt au really started with wanting to focus in on the character of thad specifically, and seeing if i could weave all his disparate comic appearances into some kind of narrative. but as soon as the other clones started happening the whole thing really got away from me and now ive got fuckin.... flow charts and stuff lmao
#asks#anonymous#i got blindsided by my investment in the six seperate character foils i made for thad#they exist to help him with his character growth but then i gave them all BACKSTORIES

@corvidamned asked
1. What is your favorite trope to rp? 3. Who are your longest rp friends? 6. Name 3 things you love most about your muse/muses.
Favorite Trope
To be quite honest, I don’t know many tropes by name and never frequented the website TV Tropes, as many rpers tend to. Most of my knowledge of tropes in general comes from character archetypes and genre-specific, so I guess I can expound on those? Some, but not all, archetypes I favor include the femme fatale, the addict, the bard, the bumbling sidekick, and the bad boy. Some, but not all, genre-specific tropes I enjoy are cyberpunk corporate-owned prostheses (visa vis Major Kusanagi from Ghost in the Shell -- she doesn’t own her own body, Section 9 does), and amicable conversations w the devil in southern gothic or horror.
Longest Rp Friends
This is a tough one bc I tend to disappear for months at a time. But I’d like to think these folks are still my friends.
@the-arkham-librarian @corvidamned & A couple folks who have moved on from tumblr to other sites for their rp (mostly discord).
Tho to be honest, my Very Longest Standing friendship w other rpers is my irl friends. We’ve run the gamut from Dungeons and Dragons to Uncharted Worlds and Powered by the Apocalypse. We even did a Blades in the Dark once that was pretty neat. If anyone has any recs for new ttrpgs to try out, I’m all ears. Tho keep in mind!! We play over discord, so no actual tabletops lmfao.
3 Things I love Most About my Muse(s)
I’ll relegate this answer to DC-only muses. Lmk if yall want more/others, and/or a list of muses I’ve got in this noggin of mine.
Jonathan
His addiction. I can’t quite explain why, but writing an addict makes me feel less alone. Maybe I’m addicted to some stuff in my life too. I don’t really know for sure.
His disposition. Over the years I’ve worked hard to cultivate a nuanced disposition for my Jon. He started as very gruff and standoffish, but over time I’ve come to realize that being mean doesn’t make a person scary. It’s being kind, and knowing when to take that away.
The rpc and their general reception to my Jon. Everyone has always been very welcoming and supportive. I’ve really never gotten a negative word on this blog, except for the times people have tried to cancel me for making Granny Keeney a closeted lesbian. You decide if that’s a cancellable offense. Overall, everyone is very supportive and generous.
Lindsay @bloody-merry
She was literally a throw-away character from a single comic that most people don’t even consider canon. I fucking love this. This means I get to do literally whatever I want with her. She’s essentially my OC now. Fuck off, DC, you didn’t treat her right. Let me take over.
Her overall arc so far, and what I’ve got planned for her in the future. I’ve had a lot of fun writing her as a relatively friendly and carefree young adult, and even more fun knowing that her high spirits are running on borrowed time. Know this: a day will come where Lindsay and Jonathan are indistinguishable except by gender and physical presentation. And it will hurt. A lot.
The way established rogues and heroes react to her. At first, they hear she’s the Scarecrow’s protege and think well, here comes a fight. But she’s just hyped to see real supers in person and wants a selfie. Also please don’t tell Jon. He’ll get furious if he hears she was acting buddy buddy with his nemeses.
Edward Nygma (coming soon)
Fashion. Eddie is one of my two muses who are obsessed with and adore fashion. Granted, that doen’t mean you’ll like his fashion. Au contrare, you’ll likely see him and think why is this man wearing so many prints at the same time? Well, that’s the riddle, ain’t it? It got you looking at him though. And that’s the point, moron!
My aggressively queer son. He is gnc and when asked his gender his response is a simple “Figure it out, dummy.” Don’t let the flamboyance lull you into an easy assumption that he’s strictly into men, though. And don’t let his flirtatiousness make you think he’s actually got any follow-through.
He’s Just Plain Fun. His banter and his style are just a hoot, fam. Fuck I miss this rowdy riddle boy.

Been thinking a lot about how I draw Superman, and my design inspirations for him, so I wanted to make a quick lil post.
First and foremost, it's mullet superman. Superman with long hair is killer, it's a really fucking good look to me. Here are the covers of The Adventures of Superman #505 (October '93), #521 (March '95), and #526 (August '95) as examples.
As you can tell, I didn't think the hair went long enough, so making his hair longer was one of the first things I wanted to do withy my redesign. Also, making the hair longer worked with my idea of ditching the cape, since I just didn't wanna draw it. However, I think just removing the cape made the rest of the design look a little funny, so my next inspiration is 90s Superboy. Here's the covers of Superboy #1 (February '94), #5 (June '94), and #17 (July '95).
Superboy's outfit under the jacked has these little downwards angles that point down in the same way the Superman emblem does, and I really liked that he had the red & blue but that added black really made for a cool look. What I decided to do with Superman was make the entire chest shape blue, with the rest of his body mostly black. When I draw him full-body I usually add the red in as boots so he has all the iconic Superman colors.
The other big thing I wanted was for Superman to be Big. Like, in the comics he's Muscular, but not really Big. And I don't think he should have show muscles! He's a dude who doesn't have to work out, and most of the stuff he did with his muscles before being Superman was doing Farm Stuff, so why would he have all these show muscles? If anything, he should look like those World's Strongest Man competitors. They are obviously strong as hell, but they don't look sculpted.
Anyways, there's two big inspirations here: literally any image search of "world's strongest man competition" and Superman For All Seasons. Here's covers for #1, #2, and #4.
The one other big thing is my "Saiyans are hispanic" thing I think constantly, which is really just "how do I ground this character I love in my own experiences". I'm a mixed white/latinx dude, half of my family is of mexican-american, so I wanna put that into the character if I get to redesign him. Also, something about those darker skin tones in Superman The Animated Series, especially for characters like Lex Luthor, really stuck with me.
Anyways, that's the design philosophy! Hope you enjoyed this peek behind the curtain, if you have any questions about my superman or my DC TTRPG/fanfic AU or uhhh superhero opinions lemme know!
We introduced Bizarro on our last DC Comics "inspired" tabletop RPG session, so here's Superman and Bizarro next to each other so YOU can tell the difference!
