watched a bit of dc super hero girls and usually( ☝️)they would yk portray Bruce as this himbo, like, obviously he's an ✨icon✨ but he's still well over 6 foot, and a very muscular man, the clasic perfect man charector yk, he still gives off OLD MONEY VIBES even if he's in his 20's at the time and that's also why people like him cause, sir, why did this man who could practically be royalty roasting this random unethical buisness so much that the on lookers had to evacuate because of the dangers of a 3rd degrees burns, but this same man also accidentally ruined a million dollar antique carpet but falling and tripping over the chocolate fountain and said "meh, it's fine darling! How much could it ever cost? 5 million?" But he does it with STYLE for some GODAMN reason there is no picture of him other than his childhood/teen pics ANYWHERE where he DOESN'T look like a dilf

My 2000s/2010s kid medias wisdom:

Azula deserved a redemption arc and Ty Lee is the girl who got shafted by not being Zuko's love interest

The Soul Society is a military state and Ichigo was a good person for never joining it and Orihime was the best Bleach character

Sasuke was right and Kishimito made him an extremist as ableist victim blaming propaganda and Sakura and Hinata are equally good

Winx Club,W.i.t.c.h,Totally Spies,The Powerpuff Girls,Kim Possible and MLP are feminist even if they have their flaws and they're brought in a girly packaging because they're meant to be heroes for little girls

Johnny Test is fine and y'all are weird fow visceral your reaction to it was

Percy Jackson and the Olympians dropped the ball by having Percy end up with Annabeth because they're 'destined to' since the point of Percy's story is that he never gets to choose what they actually want and they should've either ended up with Rachel or stayed single to work on character development and healing,Luke never actually cared about other demigods and was only using them as ammo against the gods because if he actually cared he wouldn't have abused them,Toa should've instead been a third Percy series of them destroying Olympus' corruption because they've had enough of the gods and replacing it with an actual good societal system and Percy is a super cool autistic Team Parent who'd be femme and kidcore if Rick bothered to develop their interests

Star Vs The Forces of Evil should've made trans Marco and autistic Star canon,endgamed them with Tom and Janna instead of eachother,made Jackie an mc and done none of that 'no magic' shit

Craig of the Creek only gets ignored because it's a black show that's good

Don't know if many people noticed, but some of the girls dressed as Ivy are a reference to her different iterations across DC IPs (albeit some altered as the wouldn't fly on an underaged girl), from left to right we have:

Girl #1 - "Harley Quinn" Ivy (Ivy's original design in the show)

Girl #2 - "Batman and Robin" Uma Thurman's Ivy (twin cone hair version)

Girl #3 - Unsure, although I do think it might again be "Batman and Robin" Uma Thurman's Ivy, this time this cape variant of her later design

Girl #4 - Leaf crown indicates it's either the OG first appearance of Ivy in "Batman #181" version

OR, going by vine leggings, it could empowered by The Green Ivy from the show (although I'm prettty sure this design was inspired by OG Ivy to begin with)

Girl #5 - Yet again, "Batman and Robin" Uma Thurman's Ivy (no twin cones hair version) such an icon she appears thrice

Girl #6 - The carnivorous plants on her shoulders might indicate it's a downscaled and censored "Injusitice 2" game Ivy design

Girl #7 - Rings some enormous bells in my head, but can't say for certain. I think it's some more obscure DC cartoon iteration.

Girl #8 - This one is super easy, this 100% is the original "DC Super Hero Girls" cartoon Ivy

Gotta say, there's something refreshing to see a Harley who still in love/obsessed with The Joker. I feel like at some point DC realized people adore Harley but didn't want to see her be an abuse forever so they tried to spin her off into some sort of empowerment icon.

Though if you ask me the most "empowering" thing for Harley to do would be to drop out of the costume game entirely and try to live a normal life instead just trying to flip the same persona.

The only time I've seen the Harley Quinn persona work without it being tragic or attached to the Joker was in DC Super Hero Girls, and that's because there she's a teenager who came up with the persona because of someone she idolizes

I also like how while Isekai does this they keep the cautionary tale aspect where Harley is very clearly aware on some level that her relationship is wrong, hell she basically fully admits it's manipulation.

DC Superhero Girls just knew what to do with the characters in that setting. It was an MVP of a show.

Thus far it feels like Isekai has taken a bit of inspiration from their dynamic in the 2016 Suicide Squad movie where it's fucked and everyone knows it's fucked while at the same time the obsession is kind of mutual in a way. In all honesty that was my favorite version even though it originally wasn't even supposed to be that. Ain't nothing healthy about it at all but we're specifically talking fictitious supervillain characters so people can fight me.

top 3 favorite characters: The legendary Lena Luthor, my king from the future Querl Dox, and uhhh I'm actually not sure who's third? Could be Red Daughter, could be James, could be Nia. Could even be Eve who fascinates me despite being underwritten. IDK. Depends on my mood. ...And actually if we count him as a Supergirl character and not as a walking backdoor pilot then it might just be Clark. I do like Clarky boy.

top 3 least favorite characters: Mon-El obviously, Ben Lockwood who Manchester Black should've gotten to strangle with his bare hands, and...there are several other annoying misogynists I could list here but I'm actually going to give this spot to Overgirl because it's still so baffling to me that none of the higher-ups thought, 'hey, maybe we shouldn't make a crossover where AU versions of Supergirl and Green Arrow are actual literal Nazis.'

top 3 otps: Kara/Lena, Lena/James, Brainy/Nia

top 3 notps: Kara/Mon-El is a no-brainer, Kara/William was a flop, and I can't believe it even needs to be said but. Kara/Alex. No.

top 3 brotps: Lena & Brainy my beloved <333 And I like Lena & Sam's friendship as well. Honestly a lot of the relationships in this show are great in theory but a little thin in actual execution, but I enjoy reading fanfics where Lena is good friends with Kelly, Nia, and/or iconic queen Jess the secretary. [I wish I could give a brotp for Kara but honestly I think most of her relationships suffer greatly from how they write her character.]

top 3 favorite episodes/chapters/scenes/games in series: My favorite is definitely 4.16 "The House of L." Bonus points for epic title also, like, that's an iconic pun right there. I look fondly on 4.11 "Blood Memory" as well which I think is probably Nia's strongest outing on the show and also is an episode that actually bothers to do something interesting with the Danvers sisters relationship. And in terms of episodes that are consistently entertaining I do really enjoy a significant chunk of 5.13 "It's a Super Life" although it's tainted by the terrible ending (as well as the foreknowledge of what comes after). [You might be thinking: what about XYZ Season 2 episode? To which I sadly must respond: Mon-El.]

top 3 other things u think ppl who like this thing should watch/read/play: I'm going to refrain from recommending other Arrowverse shows because I think that's too easy. But I do think my recommendations would depend on what you liked or didn't like about the show? If you like light-hearted superhero shenanigans you should watch DC Super Hero Girls (2019-2021). If you were frustrated by the show's surface-level pop feminism then you should watch Revolutionary Girl Utena (1997). If Lena Luthor's character type fascinates you then you should watch Severance (2022-ongoing). [If you're in it for Katie McGrath I can't help you, that woman was cursed by a witch long ago to only be in the worst shows you've ever heard of.]

I noticed something. To the best of my (sleep deprived) recollection, I think Robin is the only major/og/classic superhero sidekick (at least in DC) to have a non-derivative identity? Think about it; Wonder Woman has Wonder Girl; Aquaman has Aqualad, Flash has Kid Flash, and Green Arrow has Speedy-- he gets points for the original name but the identity and costume are clearly derivative. (Also, kinda weird that the derivative names are all also diminutive, and Robin isn't.) You'd think he'd have been named Batboy or Batkid or Batlad or even something like Black Bat (Blue Bat?) (I also just realized why Nightwing chose blue for his original costume... Robin's egg blue... Am I slow?)

Meanwhile, aside from being a small flying creature, the Robin identity/moniker is completely different from Batman's, and doesn't even feature a suffix like his does (such as boy/man/lad/etc.) (Thank the gods we didn't end up with Robinlad.) The Robin identity stands alone, even among many major DC heroes... It needs no support or confinement from identifying information such as Woman or Man or Boy or Girl (Imagine if Superman was just The Super... Wonder Woman just The Wonder... Just Aqua... etc. Ew.) It is both unique to Dick, being his mother's nickname for him, and meant for passing on, being gender/age/etc. nonspecific.

Batman and Robin's identities/themes are also completely different... You've got the Dark Knight and the Boy Wonder. Additionally, Robin's costume doesn't have any animal elements-- it doesn't even follow Batman's theme of the costume reflecting the features and/or color palette of the animal namesake. Where's Robin's dumb little beak mask and cape cut like bird wings (Hawk & Dove anyone?) Where did the green and yellow come from? And where are Robin's pants?

So what do we get from this?

Well, from an Arthurian perspective... I really wonder why the hell Kane, Finger, and Robinson made him this way. (Does Robinson being one of the creators have anything to do with it?)

From a mixed Arthurian/Watsonian perspective, maybe Batboy/kid/lad/etc isn't intimidating enough. Unlike most heroes, one of Batman's main strategies is to inspire fear and one of his main appeals is that he's edgy and dark and brooding. But why not Blue Bat then? Why a wee little songbird? (I know they were trying to soften Batman's image by adding Robin but still, they weren't trying to make him lil songbird soft.) Why the Boy Wonder, why the goofy (but iconic) color scheme and (I ask you again) why no pants?

OKAY I WANTED TO LEAVE THAT THEORIZING IN BUT I DID SOME RESEARCH AND:

Robin is DC's first sidekick. In fact, as far as I could find, Robin is THE FIRST superhero sidekick. It's not that Robin's creators were shaking things up with their sidekick... It's that most of the creators of sidekicks with derivative identities were being lazy. RIP.

Anyway, a Watsonian perspective (because let's be honest, what we care about is the implications on story and character,) and this is where it gets good... Maybe Bruce a. didn't want Dick to turn out anything like him, and b. wanted Dick to have the opportunity to develop his own identity, not living in the shadow of The Bat. We see other sidekicks struggling with not being The Real Thing... Thinking they're never quite as good as the original, always living in the shadow of their hero. Bruce was never asking Dick to be just like him-- that's the last thing he'd want.

Bruce was never the best father, but maybe, just maybe, he got this one thing right.

This is Junimation! Every odd day of the month I will share an animated series I really liked or made a big impact on me growing up. Expect a lot of American cartoons and anime. These are in arbitrary order, because I hate saying some are better than others.

Number 1 of my Junimation countdown: Justice League Unlimited.

It's the name of the later seasons of this Justice League series, but it's easier to look up this way. This show aired from the 17th of November 2001 to the 13th of may 2006 (Get used to the date format) and counted a total of 91 episodes spread over 5 seasons.

The story of the Justice League (as I interpreted it) is how a big cast of DC super heroes combined forces to deal with threats that were bigger than themselves and how they live as colleagues with friendships and struggles.

This was my introduction to most of the DC comic figures. I primarily new Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman. Hawk Girl, Flash, Green Lantern and Manhunter Martian were new to me.

So I grew up with the black Green Lantern John Steward and he's to this day still my favourite Green Lantern. The Flash, Wally West, had my greatest respect when he faced Luthor. Batman had both some haunting and compassionate episodes. But this series gave me the single most iconic Superman moment I will forever keep, the "world made of cardboard" speech in the final episode.
