The ballroom was huge, people littered the floor and the tables to the side of the ballroom floor as well. Quentin hadn’t throughly explored the entire event yet but this seemed like a good part to become accustomed too since it looked like this was the main area where people were hanging out. Crowds however, were never his thing. Usually he’d just find a person or two and stick with them but for now he was alone. That needed to be fixed. Thankfully he spotted a familiar shade of red worn by a large figure and knew who that could be. Fixing his attire and then grabbing some drinks Quentin headed over to the man. Unable to tap on his shoulder or give any physical sign he wanted to talk Quentin chose to just go with the awkward small talk instead, “Hey! Prince, it’s nice to see you here. You remember me right? Quentin. I kinda frequent your campfire, but you always wander off so I thought this would be a good time to finally get to know each other better. I’ve always wanted to talk more.” One of the drinks is offered to Prince with a smile. [ @drowsy-dreamwalker ]
Prince was fairly distracted by watching people dance and chatter.. His mind was a bit lost on how he was supposed to be enjoying any or this and how anyone was even able to. He slide a finger under his mask to scratch a little bit at his cheek and readjusted it when he was done..
His attention was drawn to the smaller figure that had just touched his shoulder. He jerked away a bit in caution, but when his eyes landed on the man next to him. His expression was perplexed under the lion mask.
"Yeah.. I've seen ya talk to 'the other' me a lot right..? You're the one in blue..?" To be fair, he didn't remember the other's name just from hearing- he wasn't too good about any of that right now. But he made the assumption based on the fact that Quentin was wearing blue here too.
He looked at the drink that was being offered to him and blinked at it. "That for me?" He pointed to the drink like he didn't know it was clearly being given to him.

Hello y'all welcome, This is a RP and an Ask Blog run by @ostrichartist (Minor) on TWD AU since I've been having my silly mind to create this acc and welp, here it is.

- Poppy, A Ingenue classmate of Ben/Travis nor the student of David Parker, The embodiment of Beacon of Hope, Her nurturing demeanor became a protector of Clementine's innocence against the harsh realities while Lee is a protector whenever the danger would occur, she was one of the valuable member within her cheerful and support of the group as a medic of the group yet Clem's view her as a older sister she'd never had one in her life as an only child, Only to be one of the selfless members of the group comparing as Carley or Doug. It's been so up and down the past few days given my 1/10s and 6-7/10s. Today was pretty good though. I meant to start this morning off by doing something to put me in a good mindset but I didn't know what to do really. I journaled a bit in my private journal and did a little cleaning which I haven't done in about a week. I had 'me time' in the shower because it felt right to my body but thats all. For breakfast I made corned beef hash, an egg, and toast. It was a good breakfast considering I've been needing some fat in my diet.
Work went good. I ended up talking a lot about some vague things on my mind despite also declaring that I'd rather the stream be a little less personal. Some good conversation was had and I got my work done.
After stream I did my workout which was 4 miles on my treamill. Every other song on my playlist I'd jog for and I started off jogging for the first quarter so over half was a jog. I went hard and it felt good on my body, but my ankle feels a little hurt again.
For lunch I made a grilled cheese and bean soup. Also called my dad while I cooked and told him about things. Forgot to ask him about my birth certificate though.
After lunch I finished this Izzy pic which took almost 2 hours. I started streaming it in David's server but no one joined. Eventually I left to just have a stream on the side. I joined back in David's server towards the end since someone was in there but not much came of that. Im feeling like I don't really wanna put time into that server, Ive not been feeling it ever really. I spent some time working on Plaz's saloon world and it was productive.
For the evening I just watched the stream I had on and put together a new vaporwave bangers playlist and a list of their samples. I ended up checking my insurance for some reason and learned I owed $700. Kind of super pissed about it. If I had understood the process better, I would have been doing therapy only every 2 weeks instead.
Daisy and I got in VR and did some classic world hopping which was fun. We ran into some funny individuals like someone in character as Amethyst. At the end we did some V*vz*ep*p tier lists. RP guy joined which was WEIRD but I disarmed him. In bed we did puzzles and watched Jerma do a jigsaw puzzle. After she fell asleep, I joined Turkey briefly in desktop since I told her I would if I had a little time. I wish I could have stayed with her group longer, they were doing a treasure hunt thing and all of them were drunk.

Today went well. I kept myself in a good headspace partly because I was burnt out and partly because I knew what was bothering me and I fixed it, at least today. My trust issues have been bad for a long time. I always though if I can only feel like things are okay then I'll be fine and I can do so many of the things I want without worrying. Well today I lived by that "trust is a decision, not a feeling" rule and was much better off for it. Whenever I had a feeling that I could describe as distrust, I just remembered that I can choose and it worked.

5. NOTAÇÃO DAS CORES

Você já ouviu falar das três dimensões das cores? Nesse post irei falar do livro “A Color Notation: How to Numerically Describe Colors” de Albert H. Munsell. Editora: Musaicum Books, 2020.
5.1 DO AUTOR
Albert H. Munsell foi um professor de artes estadunidense que contribuiu para o estudo de cores. Sua obra, apresentada aqui, foi publicada em 1905, e nela ele mostra a construção do seu sistema de cores voltado para pigmento.
5.2 DA ESTRUTURA DO LIVRO
O livro tem parágrafos marcados e muitos apêndices e rodapés. Isso quer dizer que você irá de um lado pro outro do livro. Por isso, sugiro que leia como se estivesse estudando e que vá marcando a ideia central do trecho lido, senão terá que reler boa parte do texto.
5.3 DAS DIMENSÕES
Munsell diz que as cores possuem três dimensões e por elas seria possível descrever uma cor, atribuindo três qualidades com representação numérica.
A intenção dele era facilitar a comunicação e identificação de uma cor, assim como ocorre com notas musicais. Além disso, ele traz um cronograma de aulas para ensinar sobre as cores (é voltado pra crianças, mas pode ser adaptado pra adultos).
Os três termos base para seu sistema são:
“Hue” em português seria algo como Matiz ou Cor ou Família, aquilo que diferencia uma cor de outra e que pode ser associado a um nome. Munsell separa em 10 [leia a referência 1 antes de prosseguir]: vermelho (R), amarelado-avermelhado (YR), amarelo (Y), verde-amarelado (GY), verde (G), azul-esverdeado (BG), azul (B), púrpura-azulado (PB), púrpura (P) e vermelho-púrpura (RP). Ele seria representado apenas usando a inicial da Matiz, exemplo: R (seria “red” ou “vermelho”). Algo importante que ele coloca é uma lista de nomes de cores de pigmentos associados a cada uma das 10 cores, além de uma associação delas com algum componente químico natural. Por fim, as Matizes estariam posicionadas em volta do Valor; as cores com sigla única podem ser vistas na figura 5.1.
“Value” em português seria Valor ou Luminância, ou seja, o quão clara ou escura a Matiz é. Esse Valor é uma escala de cinzas em eixo vertical que vai do branco (no topo e numerado como 10, sendo a presença de maior reflexão de luz) ao preto (embaixo e numerado como 0, sendo pouca ou nenhuma presença de reflexão de luz, pois há maior absorção), sendo assim cada Matiz terá sua respectiva escala de valores. Essa escala é o local onde não teria nenhuma percepção de Matiz, portanto Munsell o considera como ponto Neutro (N), ou seja, neutralizar uma cor seria “tornar cinza” ao abaixar seu Croma. Enfim, sua representação numérica é colocada ao lado da inicial da Matiz como numerador da razão (fração) Valor/Croma, exemplo: R1/(vermelho de valor 1).
“Chroma” em português seria “Croma” ou “Viveza” e é uma palavra grega que significa “cor”. Alguns locais traduzem como ou associam a Saturação, mas essa, segundo David Briggs [2], é diferente de Croma. Croma é a percepção de Matiz em uma área de mesmo Valor, ou seja, o Valor é constante e tem variação de Tom (o quanto de cinza está presente), ele seria o eixo horizontal perpendicular (fazendo ângulo de 90°) com a escala Neutra de Valores cinzas. Já a Saturação é a percepção de Matiz em proporção ao brilho que a área apresenta, sendo assim o valor pode variar (usam disso para fazer sombra, pois a Saturação da área é uniforme, seguindo uma linha diagonal). Cada Matiz tem sua escala de Croma e sua numeração começa perto do ponto Neutro (0) até o Croma mais alto possível. Por fim, sua representação numérica é colocada ao lado da inicial da Matiz como denominador da razão (fração) Valor/Croma, exemplo: R/2, vermelho de Croma 2.
Essas medidas muitas vezes são vistas como: quente e frio, claro e escuro e brilhante ou acizentado, respectivamente. O que não traz uma medida de fato e acaba a descrição sendo “está muito claro ou muito escuro ou quente ou muito frio”, trazendo uma imprecisão. Enfim, juntando tudo: R1/2 seria Matiz Vermelha de Valor 1 e Croma 2, ou seja, um vermelho escuro e com percepção baixa de Matiz.
Essa ordem na qual as dimensões são apresentadas é dita por Munsell como a ordem que as crianças acabam percebendo as cores: primeiro veem a Matiz, depois o Valor e por último o Croma, e para qualificar todas as cores é usado as matizes do ponto médio, Matizes de Valor 5, que ele chama de diapasão (instrumento usado para dar o tom de lá em música). A representação dos termos visualmente pode ser observada na figura 5.1 abaixo:

5.4 DOS TERMOS INEFICIENTES
Munsell ao estabelecer os termos apresentados acima, explica que há termos ineficientes [2] pra descrever uma cor, pois alguns seriam muitas vezes termos emprestados de outros sentidos: audição, tato e afins, ou usados com diferentes significados, deixando a descrição vaga. São eles:
Tom (Tone): matiz com variação de cinza [3]. Eu usei acima com esse significado apresentado, mas Munsell diz ser um termo emprestado e coerente para música e que é usado relacionado às cores com significados totalmente diferentes desse. Certeza que você fala algo como “Tom de vermelho” para qualquer tipo de vermelho ou “Tom de pele” falando tanto da Matiz da pele quanto da Luminância que a pele apresenta.
Tint (não acho “tinta” uma tradução apropriada): matiz com variação de branco [3].
Sombra (shade): matiz com variação de preto [3]. Tanto Tint quanto Sombra é dito como usados com significados diferentes ou para falar de qualquer grau de cor.
Pureza: ao explicar sobre Croma ele menciona sobre “pureza” não ser adequado, pois afirma que nenhum pigmento seria atrelado a apenas um comprimento de onda [4]. Em outro ponto do livro, ele mostra uma análise gráfica espectral de dois pigmentos.
Intensidade: se for usado se referindo ao Croma, ele diz não ser eficiente já que “intensidade” seria um grau de várias qualidades, exemplo: luz intensa ou calor intenso (eu acabo usando às vezes pra reforçar a ideia de “percepção maior de Matiz”, que é a forma que sugiro explicar sem usar esse termo).
Munsell também fala de outros termos musicais e a maioria deles podem ser encontrada no glossário ao final do livro.
5.5 DO SISTEMA DE CORES
O sistema é inspirado em proposições semelhantes feitas antes de Munsell. Ele cita sobre isso no apêndice do capítulo V, falando como ele via uma distorção de 60° entre o azul e a base preta de outro sistema e também fala que o amarelo aumenta de luminosidade (Valor) três vezes mais rápido no modelo apresentado por Runge.
Para a criação foi usado Fotômetro (para medir a intensidade de luz, Valor) e Disco de Maxwell (para verificar o equilíbrio das misturas para se chegar ao Neutro sem que fosse necessário misturar os pigmentos de fato, Croma). No livro, ele descreve o funcionamento de cada equipamento e como usou.
Esses equipamentos são importantes, pois isso faz ele organizar as cores conforme o funcionamento da nossa visão [5] e podemos ajustar para se encaixar a nomenclatura subtrativa CMY [6]. Ele inclusive menciona sobre os primários convencionais vermelho, amarelo e azul (índigo) serem equivocados, pode ser visto detalhadamente no apêndice do capítulo 3.
Durante a leitura, é visto que as sensações corretas para primários em luz seriam: Vermelho, Verde e Violeta-Azulado (azul índigo), ou seja, o famoso RGB para cores luz que tem como secundário o CMY (ciano, magenta e amarelo). E ele diz isso falando das descobertas feitas sobre Visão Cromática (“Color Vison”), que diz respeito a teoria tricromática proposta por Thomas Young e Hermann Helmholtz e verificado por James Maxwell, tudo por volta do século XIX.
Isso muda totalmente o entendimento das cores e a disposição delas em um círculo, até mesmo muda os complementares. Por isso, ele diz que vermelho e verde, amarelo e púrpura (aqui provavelmente o que entendemos como sendo violeta, roxo) e azul (índigo) e laranja (laranja é complementar de azul, mas não desse azul especificamente) como complementares equivocados, estabelecendo assim os pares: vermelho e azul-esverdeado (BG ou azul ciano), verde e vermelho-púrpura (RP ou magenta) e amarelo e violeta-azulado (azul índigo).
Além disso, quando colocados lado a lado resultaria em uma percepção de ambos mais vibrantes. Ele ainda salienta que muitos continuam a ensinar equívocos, como pode ser visto na figura 5.2 [7].

Suas cores base são cinco das dez apresentadas acima: vermelho, amarelo, verde, azul e púrpura (roxo, podem ser vistas na figura 5.1 ou na figura 5.6). O verde pra ele é uma cor central, em determinado trecho do livro ele faz uma projeção plana do sistema usando o verde como cor de centro, como se fosse um mapa, mas que ele chama de Partitura Cromática. Ele inclusive publica um atlas cromático posteriormente. As Matizes de sigla de duas letras são cores intermediárias.
5.6 DAS REPRESENTAÇÕES DO SISTEMA
Como falado anteriormente, ele cria um cronograma de ensino infantil (sendo base pra estudo de giz de cera e aquarela), então seu sistema tem duas representações, a mais simples em formato de uma esfera tridimensional, o qual ele associa a uma laranja e é conhecido como Esfera Cromática, e a mais avançada em formato de árvore (figura 5.3), que também é chamada de Árvore Cromática ou Sólido Cromático ou Espaco Cromático.

O número que antecede as iniciais das cores ao centro é referente a matiz central caso o sistema seja expandido, no caso 5R seria vermelho 5, ou seja, tem vermelho 1, 2 e etc até, o valor e o croma podem ser expandidos acrescentando decimal, exemplo: 2.5.
Munsell também traz essa representação usando a mão esquerda. As cinco cores base iriam do vermelho (dedão) ao púrpura (dedinho). As juntas dos dedos seriam o ponto médio e ao juntar os dedos formaria uma continuidade circular de Matizes, com os vãos entre os dedos sendo as cinco Matizes intermediárias, as pontas dos dedos simbolizando o branco e o punho o preto. As cores mais fortes (Croma alto) estariam na parte de fora da mão e as mais fracas indo ao centro dela. Outra representação que talvez possa trazer, visualmente, maior entendimento é a apresentada abaixo:

5.7 DO RESULTADO DE MISTURAS
Sobre misturas ele chega a apresentar que o ponto médio de reta conectando Matizes mostraria a cor resultante, isso pensando na curva espectral do pigmento, e esse também é atribuído a reações químicas. Por isso, seguindo essa linha, daria pra prever misturas de quaisquer Matizes, exemplo: ele diz que ao traçar uma linha reta entre Y7 e R3 a Matiz resultante no ponto médio seria YR5 (os números são os Valores e pode ser incluído o Croma), dando a informação precisa sobre a cor sem precisar usar nomes como “laranja escuro”. Mesmo assim, aqui estão algumas observações dele:
Mistura Complementar: a mistura dos complementares de mesmo Valor ou não, em pigmento, resultaria em Neutro (cinza).
Mistura de Matizes não opostas: resulta em Matiz próxima do centro Neutro, o que explica a mistura dos “complementares” tradicionais de RYB (que sugiro que chame apenas de opostos) resultar em marrons.
Peter Donahue (Color Nerd no TikTok) mostra que cores não necessariamente complementares também podem se neutralizar, fazendo observação de curva espectral.
5.8 DO EQUILÍBRIO DIMENSIONAL
Munsell observa que em um caminho diagonal curvo pela borda da Esfera Cromática, passando por diferentes Matizes (figura 5.3) de diferentes Valores e Cromas, ele percebe que a cada mudança de Matiz há uma diminuição de Valor e Croma de maneira uniforme.
Isso mostra que caso uma dimensão seja alterada, as outras duas podem sofrer alterações. Sendo assim, dependendo da necessidade, precisará fazer ajustes.
5.9 DA HARMONIA
Sabendo de tudo isso, Munsell começa a falar de harmonia, algo sempre em discussão no decorrer da história das cores. Pra isso, ele faz um paralelo com a harmonia musical, dizendo que nela, pelos termos, medidas e afins, se consegue entender o que ocorre, e definir o motivo de ser ou não harmonioso.
Claro que existe a questão de gosto pessoal, mas nesse caso, ele está falando de você conseguir determinar o motivo de não gostar daquele som. E, com isso, ele pensa em como seu Sistema poderia ajudar na criação de algo assim para cores. Até então a ideia de coloração pessoal não existia e não posso afirmar que é algo que realmente explica isso, pois é um dos assuntos que ainda pretendo estudar e trazer aqui, mas me pergunto se foi inspirado nessas ideias.
Isso porque ele exemplifica a questão trazendo a problemática de uma menina querendo saber quais cores ela poderia usar com o vestido verde dela. Esse vestido no sistema é um G6/5 e a partir dele se teria como explorar caminhos e estabelecer quais são harmoniosos, quais conflitam e também ele coloca de se pensar se tem cores a se descobrir.
Os três caminhos base são: pela vertical (paralelo a N, a mesma matiz de Valor diferentes), lateral (matizes diferentes de mesmo Valor e Croma) e frente/trás (perpendicular ao ponto N, tendo mesma Matiz ou Matiz complementar com diferentes Cromas). Além disso, teriam também as diagonais que exploram as três dimensões.
Munsell também diz sobre criar certo “ritmo” de cores ao estabelecer intervalos e menciona sobre criação de grupos de cores por observações, sendo isso um estudo com medidas e não mero gosto pessoal, o que poderá determinar escolhas em design, decoração e afins, por exemplo.

Durante as minhas pesquisas acabei encontrando um simulador muito interessante do Sistema Munsell. Ele apresenta o Atlas de acordo com a cor escolhida (figura 5.5) e você ordena, ajudando na habilidade de percepção de cores. MINHAS CONSIDERAÇÕES
Sei que é complexo e talvez seja muito para assimilar, mas leia com calma (aprendizado é tempo também) e caso não tenha entendido algo, deixo aberto o espaço pra perguntas. Espero que tenha sido uma leitura com bastante aprendizado e que agora consiga entender melhor a estrutura dos sistemas usados digitalmente (como HSL) ou da Pantone e afins e que te ajude no entendimento de cores no geral, na pintura, na maquiagem, no bordado e afins. Aliás, espero que consiga se comunicar usando essas notações, pois são notações científicas padronizadas pela CIE (Comissão internacional de Iluminação [8], sigla em francês).

[1] Acho que a maior dificuldade ao estudar sobre cor é tentar não se perder com os nomes das cores e as matizes associadas (parece até literatura russa), então tentarei ao máximo ser coerente nessa questão. Prefiro traduzir “purple” para “púrpura” e “blue” para “azul”, pois nem sempre o significado de “purple” está associado à “roxo” e “blue” ao “azul índigo”. Indicarei a provável cor conforme for. Munsell também diz que essas cores são: vermelho, laranja, amarelo, verde grama, verde, azul pavão, azul, violeta e ameixa, respectivamente. Entretanto, seguindo o subtrativo, pode entendê-los como: vermelho, laranja, amarelo, verde-amarelado, verde, azul ciano (não necessariamente é o ciano que usamos em pigmento), índigo-ciano, azul índigo, roxo e magenta. Será apresentado o motivo mais à frente, mas, se souber uma melhor forma de nomear, pode deixar nos comentários. Deixarei aqui a figura 5.6 como referência caso fique confuso.

Respuesta del sacerdote Muy querido, 1. sí, esto es evidente en la Sagrada Escritura. El pecado de Adán ha tenido repercusiones en toda la humanidad, que soporta el peso de sus consecuencias. Además, el pecado abre una brecha para nuestro adversario. En el libro de Job, Satanás acusa a Dios de no poder ejercer su poder negativo sobre Job porque Dios le ha puesto un cerco protector a su alrededor (Job 1:10). Este cerco es un símbolo de la gracia de Dios. Cuando nos privamos de Su gracia, abrimos la puerta a nuestro adversario que "no viene sino para robar, matar y destruir" (Jn 10,10). 2. Ahora bien, quienes están cerca de nosotros pueden verse afectados de diversas maneras por esta devastación provocada por el demonio. A veces se ve de manera tangible y externa, como en quien pierde dinero en el juego y acarrea a su familia en la pobreza. O en alguien que termina en la cárcel por una grave injusticia y toda su familia se ve afectada por la vergüenza y la deshonra. A veces nuestro pecado, provocando nerviosismo o indocilidad en quienes lo cometen, hace también pagar la pena a los demás que tienen que soportarnos. 3. También podemos considerar otro aspecto del reflejo de nuestros pecados, evidenciado por Juan Pablo II en Reconciliatio et paenitentia cuando habla del pecado social. Es un reflejo invisible pero real. Este santo Papa dice que debemos “reconocer que en virtud de una solidaridad humana tan misteriosa e imperceptible como real y concreta, el pecado de cada uno repercute en cierta manera en los demás. Es ésta la otra cara de aquella solidaridad que, a nivel religioso, se desarrolla en el misterio profundo y magnífico de la comunión de los santos, merced a la cual se ha podido decir que «toda alma que se eleva, eleva al mundo» (La expresión es de una escritora francesa, Elisabeth Leseur,Journal et pensées de chaque jour, Paris 1918, p. 31). A esta ley de la elevación corresponde, por desgracia, la ley del descenso, de suerte que se puede hablar de una comunión del pecado, por el que un alma que se abaja por el pecado abaja consigo a la Iglesia y, en cierto modo, al mundo entero. En otras palabras, no existe pecado alguno, aun el más íntimo y secreto, el más estrictamente individual, que afecte exclusivamente a aquel que lo comete. Todo pecado repercute, con mayor o menor intensidad, con mayor o menor daño en todo el conjunto eclesial y en toda la familia humana. Según esta primera acepción, se puede atribuir indiscutiblemente a cada pecado el carácter de pecado social.» (RP 16). 4. También puede ocurrir que el pecado cometido sea tan grave que cause una profunda privación de la gracia por la que también se ven afectados los demás. Por ejemplo: con el pecado del faraón que había ordenado el exterminio de los varones judíos recién nacidos, la muerte tuvo un reflejo negativo en todo el pueblo: la muerte de todos los primogénitos de los egipcios. Romance was not his thing. After one failed marriage and countless failed relationships all ending along the same tone of ‘You care about your job more than me!’, David had given up on the idea entirely. Finding women to sleep with was easy enough, but he couldn’t very well have the reputation of a man who slept around in his line of work. Some of the people he did business with had all those pesky ‘family values’, to the point where closing a deal became nearly impossible without a steady girlfriend or wife to bring to the lavish business dinners. Sleeping around with no commitment, while enjoyable, was hardly an option. And though it wasn’t like he’d gone looking for the girl in the thigh high boots and clingy skirt, but now that she was here in his hotel room (which he’d rented for the week in order to woo a certain client into closing an extremely lucrative deal) David couldn’t help the idea that was forming in his head. He hadn’t even slept with the girl yet, but she had a certain something about her that told him the idea in question may not have been the craziest. Sitting down opposite her as she enjoyed the champagne and strawberries he’d ordered, he gave her an inquisitive look. “Out of curiosity…How much for the entire week? Nights and days, a couple business dinners, and one polo match with unbearably dull company.”

Paul hadn’t used the wheelchair in a couple of weeks (good thing, too, since continually fixing the thing with hope, dreams and scrap metal wasn’t going to keep working for long). Hadn’t used the crutches much, either, unless he was being extremely careful not to use them in front of David (doubtful. The wheelchair had suited him better, keeping his hands free). Just the walking stick, now, and only when he needed it.
Of course, now that he was doing better, he was busy again. They all were, of course, but David couldn’t help wondering if with plenty to occupy him, that little spark might have been extinguished. He’d almost decided it was probably safer to make that assumption. Apocalypse, and all. Not like making long term plans for anything but survival was really on the cards, right?
David was busy, too; mostly the basics, the odd bandaid on a boo-boo for someone small and scared, antibiotics for infections, a very memorable tooth extraction he was never going to stop dreaming about. And then one of the men sliced his forearm open on some machinery, which took about 200 stitches and had people slapping his back every time he headed to collect a meal.
It was that afternoon that he saw it again. On Paul’s face, sitting at one of the long tables, eating a plate of lentils and green beans — that expression that wasn’t just ‘thanks for saving me, let’s be friends’ but something a hell of a lot more loaded. So, time to hatch a plan.
It took him a day or so to collect up enough things for a reasonable picnic. He’d asked for something a little extra from the kitchen and been given a flat look. Until he leaned in and told the inventory manager that he wanted to surprise someone.
“A date,” she’d said, with her eyebrow cocked, before she returned to her list. “This isn’t the Hilton.”
“I know.”
“And who, pray tell, is the lucky girl?”
It was time for David to raise an eyebrow, then. “Jesus.”
Her face softened, and she sighed, and smiled just enough for David to be sure he’d won the round. “Fine,” she said. “Just wait here, I’ll see what I can scrounge up.”
People loved Paul. He deserved that; he was always the one who volunteered for the toughest foraging jobs, always the first to put himself between a walker and someone innocent. A tin of peaches, some cheese, bread… yeah, this would work. He thanked her, promised to come look at the moles on her arms in the next few days, and headed off with a canvas bag full of what definitely passed for a pretty decent post-apocalyptic date. And then he went looking for Paul.
He knocked, and then let himself in.
“Thought maybe it was time to pick up where we left off,” he said. “Feel like an adventure outside the wall? To do nothing but eat and talk and if we’re lucky, kill a couple of bad guys?”

So many people were hurting and needed to get out. BEFORE THE DISASTER »
Ever since David could remember, he’s always been dubbed, ‘the dude with the accent’. His family moved from Ireland when he was 6 years old, taking up residence in Boston, Massachusetts, but still clinging to the culture they loved back home. Soft spoken, shy and kindhearted, he often suffered at the hands of his peers and became known as something as a push-over. He excelled in his classes, and it became apparent that he had an affinity with home economics and art, as well as science. He decided from an early age that he wanted to do something with medicine, finding joy in helping those he could.
As he grew older, he started attracting the attention of one of his high school teachers, a married man who thought little of his intelligence and merely noticed his 'pretty face’. David, an innocent 16 year old, was flattered and overwhelmed by his teachers attitude towards him, unused to kindness outside of his home. The teacher would later take advantage of this. Afterward, he began treating David harshly, blaming him for what happened and David, terrified of what people would say remained silent. Two years later, David finally told his mom and the guy was arrested. Although the man was gone, the effect he had on David lasted a long time, causing him to have an even quieter and unsure nature.
He decided to study medicine in college and when there tried to create a new life for himself, accepting the invitation to a freshers party. He hadn’t thought about how loud it would be and spent most of his night in a panicky state, pushed into the corner of the main room. That’s how he met Matthew, who noticed his unease and dragged him outside, before shoving a bottle of water in his hand and talking him down from the impending panic attack with kind words and a gentle smile. From that point on the two were inseparable, they were polar opposites, Matthew being loud and excitable and David quiet and collected but Matthew understood him better than most and slowly started to help him become more open and confident.
When Matthew was asked to live with another 3 students, he asked David to come with him and David, who may or may not have been enamored with Matthew at the time, jumped at the chance.
AFTER THE DISASTER »
David was cooking when he got the news and will forever mourn what he expected to be the goddamn best pie he had ever made in his life. All he hoped is that the fire caused by their temperamental oven took a few of them out with it. He remembers Matthew coming in, moaning about how awful his day was, saying something about the end of the world. So he’d started making him his favorite meal in the hopes of making it a little better.
Of course then the world did actually decide to end and they were forced to escape in a car that said it could fit 5 people but certainly didn’t feel like it. Jac was talking hurriedly about a safe house in New Jersey, but David was worried for his parents. After a brief dismissal by Matthew, which upset him more than anyone else in the car, after all his parents were nothing but supportive, the group decided to go straight for the safe zone.
When there, his medical skills were quickly put to use. Being one of only two people with medical knowledge in the entire camp made him pretty valuable and his cooking skills became handy more than once. He quickly became far more accepted in the community than he had anywhere else and appreciated the fact that he could be useful and do the job he had always wanted to, even if the circumstances were less than satisfactory.
