I feel like I learned a lot from the pile of Theaster Gates interviews, talks, and articles I just went through. Mostly it's about his experience as a Black potter, and his engagement with Japanese pottery traditions. Also the work of Dave Drake, a 19th c potter who incised his name and poems on the pots he made while and after being enslaved in South Carolina. Making something good from complicated things is a useful skill. Gates just opened an exhibition at the Mori Art Museum in Tokyo.

Cooking In My Own Juices

I STG that Dave and his friend are trying to see how long it takes to roast me to death. I cannot handle the heat at all. It makes me really sick and the migraines the heat induces are not fun.

I need to find a way to block the heater vent in front room where I am sleeping. This house is older than Jesus, so finding anything to fit will be difficult.

Dave lost my fan, so I can't even try too cool off with it. That's another item I have to replace. Pedestal fans are expensive these day.

With only 1 plug in the room, I will have to find a way to finagle things when I do replace my fan. UGH!

I'm also considering getting a Shoji screen for some semblance of privacy. The only people that come through the front room often are my girls, but I still want some privacy. The door leading to the dining room which is Dave's room doesn't have a doorknob, so I can't even close it.

I want my PRIVACY!!!

@helly-watermelonsmellinfellon tells me that he ceiling is in bad shape. This place better hold together long enough for us to find a safer place to live. JS.

Part Five of my BNHA Pixie Hollow Au!

Please note, just like the last one, all plot is taken directly from the movie, with minor changes.

- Tsunagu was just going about his day, talking with Gang Orca (Gonna call him Kugo from now on I just wanted you guys to know who I was referring to), one of his closest friends, when he overheard All Might speaking to Dave Shield about the beginning of Winter, and how everyone prepares for the final season of the year. Tsu hears that they shouldn't enter the Winter Woods, but wants to anyway.

- He sees that the tinker fairies make snowflake baskets which are carried by snowy owls, who then deliver them to the winter fairies, and learns that there will be another shipment tomorrow.

-Being the curious fairy he is, he decided to check it out. Before he could leave however, Kugo was hesitant to let him leave.

-“Tsunagu, it's too dangerous. Who knows what lives on the other side.” Tsunagu assured him that nothing was going to happen, and that he would be back very soon.

- He then made himself some winter clothes and traveled across the warm side until he got to the border made from a piece of tree, where at the center the warm and cold sides met. Tsunagu hesitated for a moment. Did he really want to do this? Before he could move, his wings started sparkling. Tsunagu, scared that something was going to happen, quickly retreated.

- He flies off to the library, where he finds a book titled Wingology, but unfortunately, the page on "Sparkling Wings" has been chewed up by a bookworm. Another fairy (you can decide who this is) tells Tsu that the author of the book, the Keeper, might be able to help him, but he lives in the Winter Woods. Tsu agrees and takes the book.

- Preparing himself for the Winter Woods and conveniently using the final shipment of Snowflake baskets as his only chance, Tsu sneaks into the workshop and climbs inside one of the baskets and waits for the owl. He gets picked up by an inexperienced owl and makes his way across the border. Suddenly, the owl accidentally drops the basket, and Tsunagu crashes into the snow.

- Realizing the book has been flung from his bag, he tries to get it back before anyone finds it. However, Sir Nighteye, the Lord of the Winter Woods, finds the book and asks a frost fairy, Shoji, to return the book to the Keeper. Tsunagu follows Shoji to the Winter Library. Upon arriving, he spots the Keeper (In this AU, I want Yoroi Musha to be the Keeper, it fits in my opinion). Suddenly, another winter fairy rushes into the room and proclaims that their wings are sparkling. Tsunagu’s wings begin to glow and sparkle, too.

- The other fairy is startled by the presence of a “warm” fairy, and nearly has an anxiety attack, when Tsuangu carefully calms them down. He introduces himself to the fairy and asks for their name.

- The fairy ,after a few seconds, replies with “ Shinya. My name’s Shinya. Nice to meet you!” with a shy smile. Tsunagu’s heart skipped a beat.

- Then, their wings start sparkling again. The two ask Yoroi to explain what was happening to their wings. Bringing them to a platform and positioning their wings, the whole chamber becomes filled with images of the mainland. They see two separate babies’ first laugh carefully meeting in the middle, unusually seeming to travel together for the majority of the trip, until they are abruptly separated, when one of them is blown towards the Winter Woods.

- Confused, Tsunagu speaks up. “What is this supposed to mean? This happens everytime a new fairy arrives! This doesn’t explain anything!”

- Yoroi takes the book from Tsu’s hands and carefully explains that when two separate baby’s laughs seem exceptionally close, it signifies that the fairies that are born from them are designed to be super close to one another, whether that's platonically or romantically.

- Suddenly, Nighteye arrives, concerned about the book, warning Yoroi to send any 'warm' fairy back to the Warm Side. Yoroi tells the two they can spend a day together before Tsunagu has to return home. Shinya shows to Tsu that they collect lost things and tries to find a use for them, which is something Tsunagu enjoys as well. They find that they enjoy almost the same things.

- Next, they go to the Frost Forest, where Shinya shows Tsu around. They get even closer to each other. Tsunagau, at that moment, realizes that he may be falling for Shinya. He shakes it off, saying that there is no way that Shinya reciprocates. Unbeknownst to Tsu, Shinya is feeling the same way.

- That night at Shinya’s home,as Tsu builds a fire to stay warm, he realizes that if he can make it warm in the Winter Woods, he can make it cooler at her home. Suddenly, the snow floor melts beneath them, weakened by the fire. After the incident, Yoroi tells the two fairies that Tsunagu has to go home. The two realize that they might never see each other again.

- The two become upset that there is a possibility that they couldn’t see each other ever again. Suddenly, Tsu comes up with a plan.

- When the three fairies reach the border, Tsunagu whispers to Shinya to meet him at the border the next day.

(This part happens after the “Great Fairy Rescue” Part of Midorya’s story)

- When Tsu arrives home, he asks Dave and Midoriya for help. Later, some of his other friends stop by and learn of Tsunagu’s potential love interest, and get excited (Kuugo mercilessly teases him, but same thing).

- The next day, Tsu arrives at the border with Dave and Midoriya, pulling along a snow-maker. Now able to keep Shinya cold enough, Shinya crosses the border to the warm side of Pixie Hollow.

- They meet Tsunagu’s friends, Kuugo, Shouta, Hizashi, Oboro (Oboro is in this! He’s a Water Talent Fairy!), Yuu, and Nishiya, and continue their tour of the warm side of Pixie Hollow, until Tsu notices Shinya’s wings wilting, and Shinya was getting weaker and weaker. The snow-maker was running out of ice, and there wasn't enough snow to keep Shinya cold.

- Tsu ends up flying rapidly with Shinya in his arms to the border. Nighteye appears and takes Shinya from Tsu. All Might arrives too, and sadly explains to Tsu that they can never see each other again. As they leave, the snow-maker gets knocked into the stream, and creates a snowstorm.

- Later that day, All Might tries to make Tsunagu understand why the rule about not crossing the border was so important, as does Nighteye with Shinya. They are told the story of two fairies who met and fell in love, but due to the extreme differences in weather, and them disregarding the dangers of crossing to the other side, they each got severely ill, wings nearly tearing. From that day, All Might decreed that fairies must never again cross the border and Nighteye agreed that their worlds should forever remain apart.

- Turns out, there's even more bad news! The trapped snow maker begins to freeze the Autumn Forest. Showing that there's a freeze coming, All Might tells everyone to save the Pixie Dust Tree for the freeze will kill the tree, eternally stopping the flow of pixie dust.

- All warm fairies did everything they could to save the Pixie Dust Tree. Tsunagu notices a flower encased in frost (it was a flower that Yuu had given Shinya when they met, and Shinya had frozen it in frost before burying it). He noticed that it never stopped blooming, despite its cold surroundings.

- Tsu flies straight to the Winter Woods, and asks Shouji and Shinya why the flower was still alive. Shouji explains that frost tucks warm air inside, and Shinya suggests that they could frost the Pixie Dust Tree before the freeze comes. Tsu and the frost fairies fly to the Pixie Dust Tree.

- To All Might’s fear and disappointment, Tsunagu, Shinya, and Shouji arrived.They explained the power of their frost to All Might, but Kuugo realized that the tree was too big for them to finish in time. Then Tsu spots the rest of the winter fairies who came to help frost everything else that aren't frozen.

- Accomplished of frosting the whole Hollow, Nighteye states that they've done all they can. He then warns the warm fairies that the freeze is upon them and they must take cover. Nighteye then orders all the winter fairies to stand guard all over the Pixie Dust Tree.

- Some time later, the freeze begins to melt and pixie dust begins to flow again. All the fairies celebrate, however Tsu reveals that he had broken a wing when he flew to the Winter Woods since they had to save the tree and tearfully warns Shinya to go back to the Winter Woods before their wings wilt.

- As the two hold hands and say goodbye, they reunite their wings and an explosion of pure sparkly light bursts from their wings, slowly magically healing Tsu’s broken wing. The two stared at each other for what felt like a long time. Then suddenly, Shinya throws himself at Tsunagu, and the two engage themselves in a loving embrace. Their love for each other had been strong enough to heal each other and prevent their wings from breaking completely.

- All Might and Nighteye soon hug and kiss romantically, revealing that they are the two lovers from the story.

- From that day on, warm fairies can cross over the border into the Winter Woods anytime they like and friendship and love in Pixie Hollow becomes whole again.

I'm going to do a Definitive Ranking of the top ten bnha ships because... Well because Im tired and also read a really cute nejiyuyu fic this morning anyway:

10- Melissa/Shoji. No I will not elaborate.

9- Any combo of the alleyway trio. Truly incredible, iconic, let them fight in more alleyways together please. "It's your power" "you can't suffer my mistakes" "I've never seen Ingenium make that face" hello. Battle couples galore.

8- any combo of the golden trio. Green tea is adorable. Iideku chapter almost gave me motivation back. Iida and Uraraka truly are the most capable couple in the class and also a battle couple too. All three can hold hands too.

7- Inko/Toshi/Dave I'm a genius ok I know.

6- Masaki/Tensei, I just know they'd vibe if they'd ever interact with each other. I want Tensei to gush about Masaki saving everyone who survived Jakku ok. I want them yelling at Tenya together.

4- Fuyuhana- the inherit tension between two eldest daughters who were constrained to futures as housewives by very similar fathers for nearly opposite reasons who couldn't save their brothers that turned murderous who's family comes crashing down who show strength in opposite ways and one deceives others and one deceives herself and the tragedy that they will never meet due to one dying at a child decades ago. But hey that's what fic is for

3- Nejiyuyu- truly a bonus for those looking at the character pages. Yuyu likes cute things and thinks Nejire is the cutest. Nejire's favorites were translated into English as lilies except the exact same word with the same spelling and pronunciation in Japanese is "Lesbian genre stories" so. You know. And yeah as a bonus I do sometimes throw Melissa in there but these two deserve more content anyway

2- Duo (/Trio) Holders- literally nothing funnier than the fandom deciding that Second and First had to be romantic and that's how the quirk was first passed on, and also on no evidence said that Second probably rescued First from the vault. And then they were correct and also got an extra holder thrown in the for so many different fun options.

1- Miritama. Hori really did just make them soulmates who can sense each other's pain with no explanation but a whole lot of innuendo. Showstopping.

Bnha opinions woo! (Slight spoilers I guess be warned)

This is me finishing season 1-4 dub and the movie in 18 days and my opinions on it all so far! (Some May be very unpopular but bare with I’m new here ;;)

KIRIFUCKINGSHIMA IS A LEGEND WHO DESERVES EVERYTHING ON THIS PLANET okay but takes hits for everyone, gets hurt, his backstory djdkdk h his LOVE AND FRIENDSHIP FOR BAKUMAN he’s literally the best character no questions asked Thankyou

On this note KIRIFUCKINGBAKU OTP the thing that got me originally was when he’d only grab kirishimas hand and then you started to see more little bits that you just think Hm 👀 but in the movie omg not only does it look like they’re sharing a bed (idk there’s probably a couch in there too) but kiri bringing him formal clothes and how soft bakugo sounded when just talking to him in the room and on the way and stuff AND when kiri got knocked out of the way Bakugo called his name out of worry? Concern? Are you alive? Not nickname or kept fighting like he took note of his buddy ;; they truly otp for me

I actually only found my love for todoroki during watching the movie? He seemed a lot more worky together and supportive and using his flames and idk I loved him in the movie which has kinda changed my view on him so yay (also a fanfic thanku)

This is the unpopular opinion but I like Mineta? Obviously not for the Pervy side but like... in the practical tests he was technically on his own and he managed to fight against midnight and save Sero- also his quirk is really helpful and when he gets over it he’s actually incredibly useful. I also say he’s only an amplified version of Okajima- they both have a goal that strives from women’s attention (photography and hero) and say pervy stuff but when you get down to it they’re both useful to their classes

Also unpopular but Aoyama is actually really good too- he wanted to sacrifice his hero license (not knowing about the lessons after) to help iida Get his and in the end he helped everyone. Even tho he is a little full of himself he is actually a good character still who deserves more love. Also SAD AOYAMA IN BACKSTORY IS SAD

I’d die for Shoji- he’s such a gentleman keeping Tsu warm and looking away for momo- also carrying a broken Deku and I’d die for his emo friendship with Tokoyami

I think this is what assclass doesn’t give. The whole every character uses their abilities in certain ways like- everhthing could be solved with either Nagisa or Karma or Terasaka punching something. Like okay Sugaya had a moment to build a scarecrow and chiba and hayami as the sharpshooters took their spotlight but like- imagine Hazama in the island arc party room managing to fire insults and questions at a rapid rate that baffles anyone who stood against them, or allowing other students to create assassination attempts like Hara putting bb pellets in food or something like Takebayashi hacking into Asanos phone or Yoshida being able to distract a bad guy from his motorbike

I know that’s a ramble but assclass has characteristics for everyone that sadly they just don’t use- bnha they had kirishima perfect for the rappa fight and Tokoyami for the Calvary battle and Sero and uraraka a team you’d never expect did awesome in the hero exam!

But yeah

That’s my opinions so far- I’m hoping to turn this blog into a bnha one too still with assclass obviously!

Hey yall Im back with Part 4 of my BNHA Pixie Hollow AU! Im suprised it is kinda becoming a seroius thing, but Im rrally happy that I haven’t given up on it! So without further ado, heres mire info! Its mostly plot stuff that focuses in the kiddos!

- All 20 of the faerie kids (Shinsou is one of the 20 since Mineta is a human. In addition, Melissa Shield is a part of the 20 and takes Todoroki’s place since he’s a human as well) arrive in Pixie Hollow at the same time, which is very rare.

- Apparently 20 human babies had their first laugh at once, which is unheard of! Usually only one faerie arrives at a time, or even in small groups, but 20 at once??? (This is completely different from what's actually cannon in the movies but it my AU i can do whatever I want :) ) Although, one of the faeries, Shoji, had deviated from the group, and ended up in the Winter woods, and thus was a snow fairy! So the 19 remaining faeries landed on the warm side of Pixie Hollow! Everyone had been shocked that so many faeries arrived.

- That didn’t stop All Might though. He welcomed them with open arms, and proceeded with the talent choosing ceremony. They go in order based on their cannon seating arrangement in the show, so by that logic, Aoyama goes first!

- The story takes off from Midoriya’s POV, where you see him navigate life in Pixie Hollow as a tinker talent. He excels greatly at his role, and ends up being a sort of apprentice to one David Shield (surprise he appears! We can't have his daughter without him!), another Tinker Talent. Midoriya also learns a lot from Tsunagu. (This is where the story actually splits into a side plot, which focuses on Tsunagu’s antics, where he eventually decides to cross to the Winter Woods and meets Shinya.)

- Like the movie, Midoriya learns that faeries go to the mainland in order to to change the seasons, perform talent-associated duties and watch over Nature. However, he soon discovers that Tinker Faeries can’t go to the mainland. He’s distraught over this, and Bakugou, who has been antagonizing him since the ceremony, definitely does not help. Que Midoriya goes on his journey to be accepted by everyone. After trying to get All Might to let him visit the mainland (to no avail), he tries to change his talent by doing the things his friends do.

- Everything goes wrong though. Everyones efforts to bring spring to the mainland are ruined. Midoriya, however, was able to fix everything using his inventions, with the help of Dave and Tsunagu.

- After everything was solved, All Might let Midoriya visit the Mainland.

- After that whole adventure, Midoriya and company live their lives happily. One day, while in the Mainland, they come across two humans! One appeared to be a older man with a fiery red beard, and the other was a young boy with white and red hair with a scar on his eye. Hey look, it's the Todorokis! Excited about meeting humans, Midoriya rushes over, much to his friends' dismay (mostly Iida). Out of curiosity, Midoriya follows them to their summer home. Shouto leaves out a hand-made fairy house, which Midoriya is fascinated by and enters.

- Bakugou gets annoyed at Midoriya ignoring his warnings and slams the door shut, accidentally jamming it. When Shouto returns, Bakugou tries to free him to no avail, resulting in Shouto discovering Midoriya and taking her home. He attempts to show Midoriya to her father, but Enji seems to be very busy. However, seeing all the butterflies he has pinned on display for research, Shouto decides to keep Midoriya a secret.

- Bakugo, witnessing Midoriya’s capture, gathers the “Dekusquad” as well as the “Bakusquad”, and a couple of the adults (Aizawa, Mic, and Midnight) to save him. After trying and failing to sail across some water, they reach the town where the Todorokis live. Before reaching the house however, the Dekusquad and Bakusquad get separated. The Bakusquad ends up seeing another human talking to some of his friends.

- This is their introduction of Mineta, a teenage boy opposed to finding and studying the supernatural and other creatures, which include faeries. Much to Bakugou’s dismay, they end up following him to his home, where they are horrified to see pictures of how to capture faeries. What ensues is a game of cat and mouse where they almost get murdered by Mineta. They get caught in fly traps, get soaked with water, all that jazz. They eventually escape, and end up catching up with the others.

- When they get to the house, “Operation: Save Midoriya” starts. They burst into the home, startling Enji greatly. Seeing that Enji is about to capture Midoriya, Bakugou quickly bumps Midoriya out of the way and gets caught instead. Ignoring Shouto’s pleas, her father takes Bakugou and plans to show a special committee. Gurns out Enji also believes in faeries and wants to use one for research purposes.

- A chase ensues, and after stopping the car, the faeries band together to use their pixie dust to distract and practically beat up Enji, which causes him to drop the jar Bakugou was in. In disbelief, Enji sees the value of faeries, not just for research, but in general, and they all say goodbye to each other and go back to their homes. (I didn’t want Enji to be an asshole in this can you tell).

- When they get back to Pixie Hollow, they happily shared their adventures to anyone who listened.
