Hello all we welcome you to the countdown proper as we begin as always with our Runners Up for movies.

Look, y'all. I keep seeing people talking about how few episodes there are of Netflix's ATLA vs the animated ATLA, saying they 'crammed' things in to eight episodes vs 20, and it's annoying the shit out of me, so here's some math:

Each episode of ATLA's animated version is 23 minutes long. Every episode of the Netflix series is at least 50 minutes long.

The full runtime of the Netflix s1 Avatar is 7 hours, 9 minutes. The full runtime of ATLA animated s1 is 7 hours 40 minutes. So Netflix's ATLA is ... a little shorter, but the difference between the two in actual runtime is 31 minutes.

31 minutes is not small -- it's basically "what if they took your lunch break out of your work day" -- but it's also ... not THAT big of a difference.

There are plenty of other things to criticize, I'm sure -- DON'T SAY THEM ON THIS POST, I DON'T WANT TO HEAR IT AND I HAVEN'T FINISHED THE SHOW YET -- but the difference in actual runtime between the two shows is actually not that much.

Kalypso’s Powers~ ✨🌀

Here is some of my writing for my version of the Daughters of Atlas. Since they’re from the magic realm I thought I would make their skin colorful, similar to the gods from Disney’s Hercules.

This is just a little story sample I had in my mind when I was envisioning how I want her powers to work. The way they work in Fury of the Gods is cool and all, but I wanted to add something more fantastical and visually wicked.

And don’t worry guys once the Shazamly comes to Billy’s rescue the curse of madness gets reversed. Just having his family around him to validate that magic is real, and to check in on him is enough to reverse the damage done to his psyche and return his arms/veins to normal.

Although, please do be warned, Kalypso’s curse is no joke because once the curse has fully corrupted a person, there is no cure to their madness, and their mental state will be permanently altered.

Klarion is underutilized as a character in fanfics because you can make up the most batshit crossover ideas and just say "Klarion thought it would be funny" and it works. He did find it funny. He found it fucking hilarious.

Batfamily in game of thrones. Arrow family in stardew valley. The justice league are in Percy Jackson causing issues specifically for Wonder Woman and Shazam.

So, I was thinking about something in LOK.

You know the Earth Queen Hou-Ting? You know, the woman who secluded airbenders and that Zaheer killed?

This one?

Well, as you all may know, she’s King Kuei’s only daughter.

I’m sure you all remember King Kuei, the puppet king with the bear.

This guy.

Well, I made some calculus. He must’ve been in his early/mid 20s in ATLA. And his daughter had to be in her 50s/early 60s when she died.

In the meantime, Zuko is 87/88 in 171AG, when LOK3 takes place. Since his daughter is commonly believed to be around Bumi and Kya’s age, I’d speculate that she’s around 60 in her appearance in LOK4, in 174AG and when Zuko is 90 (Tenzin is 51 in 170AG and Kya is roughly 4 years older than him, so Izumi must be between 5 and 7 years older than him, which places her in a range between 60 and 62 years old).

(See? Roughly the same age)

So, my point? I think during their diplomatic visits, Zuko and Kuei had to spend a lot of time in each other’s company because, monarch stuff. And given that they were both heirs to their respective thrones, Izumi and Hou-Ting had to spend a lot of time together.

I don’t know why, but I imagine those two having the wildest, silliest yet most hateful beef as teens. And given Hou-Ting’s despicable behavior and authoritarian politic in contrast to what shown of Izumi, a rational leader who cares for her people, I am even more convinced that those two despised each other.

So yeah, I can’t stop picturing Izumi and Hou-Ting insulting the crap out of each other while saving face in front of the subjects. And I can’t stop laughing
