You’ve read Dracula before, or are you just a fan of the quote?

I’m in the middle of my first, of many, read throughs. The book resided on my TBR list for years and years. Dracula Daily gave me a taste earlier this month with Jonathan Harker’s journal entries. It quickly captured my interest; much like Jonathan currently is in the castle.

How about yourself? Have you read this classic?

Reading all that does make me wonder what's the wildest, spur-of-the-moment thing you've ever done. Wildest by your standards. I'm a curious cat over here. Now you've got me there with the to-do list. I'm a biiiiiiiig time sucker for those. I need to make one every morning or I'll be all over the map. Not sure if that comes as a shock to you or not but I do like some structure. Just not when it comes to my down time. Yessss! Use that sign off and tell me if anyone tries to fuck with you afterwards. It'll make them second guess it, that's for certain. The team's fucking phenomenal. It's always a touch nerve-wracking being the new guy, especially one in charge, but the transition's been as smooth as silk. And hey, I might be the 90th person to say this to you since I don't know how far back you took over the law firm but congrats on that, Gabby. Wish it was under better circumstances.

Ah. Two years. So I'm for sure in the 90s range when it comes to the congrats! How's the family holding up without your dad in the picture? Also, I noticed you capitalize certain F words like Father and Family. Is it because it's part of Fabray. As in family-related terms?

Came here from the Big Apple! God, I'm closing in on two months since the big move. Hard to believe how that crept up on me. Work brought me here. The Captain position is one I've coveted for awhile and after the completion of necessary requirements (took college courses) the Bearcreek one opened up. And to answer an earlier question, there is a load of leadership skills required. Something which comes naturally to yours truly. If your dad was still around do you think you would be here in Bearcreek?

Following the typical isn't always so bad, you know. There's something incredibly attractive about following the rules, making sure that things are perfect and the feeling of completing a to-do list? It's a gorgeous one. That's not to say that the two of us are entirely as opposite as I initially assumed, though - individuality and thinking outside the box is something I adore. In fact, it's something I try to encourage. Our versions of what constitutes as wild and free may differ, slightly, but...I think doing things that makes you feel afraid is a wonderful thing. I'll have to save your email sign-off, though, that one is absolutely golden. Another firm favorite is 'lukewarm regards', 'yours unfaithfully' and 'sincerely, despite the circumstances'. Are the team treating you well? I'm finding owning Fabray Law to be definitely an interesting experience so far; the battle between respecting the legacy and traditions my Father introduced and re-hauling the entire system from the ground upwards is continuing to wage on. I'm hoping with time, and a LOT of patience, it will start to feel more natural to be in charge. Being Captain must mean a lot of leadership skills are required too, hmm?

I'm fine, thank you for asking. He hadn't felt right for a long time, so it was more of a relief to the Family to know he was finally out of pain. It happened two years ago.

I suppose I just am. We use codes in the café and it's grown to a type of second language in a sense. You'll create an acronym dictionary to keep track? That's sweet of you. If there are any words you prefer to use I'll do the same. A cheat sheet between us. There aren't a lot of people who prefer to rise before dawn which is for the best. If a bulk of people are up at that hour then you lose the magic which comes with it. I never went to college. Are you referring to parties, hazing, the whole Greek life kind of experience? Were your parents the helicoptering type? I guess I don't know what kind of college experience I would've had if I went. I imagine it's easy to get caught up in the excitement, especially if you lived on campus.

You should! I'm primarily there during the mornings. There's the random afternoon shift here and there. It depends on coverage. Don't worry. I won't judge if you're half awake and stumbling around. That could be it. What's your dad's name? Who knows, he might've swung by 'Sip at some point since we're both café and bookstore. Yep. My whole life actually. I ought to travel. Experience what the world offers. At some point when I've saved a decent amount I will. My list of places is a work in progress. For sure I want to visit Prague and Santorini. Both are stunning in their unique ways.

EDIR sounds perfect and saves time. I like it. Are you a fan of talking in codes, because if so, I am more than happy to start adding them to a dictionary so I don't accidentally forget one? I'm in complete agreement about the mornings, by the way; if I've slept past 6am, something has gone wrong. It's the only time of the day where it's completely peaceful. Nearly quiet. Before I took over the firm, my free time was mainly spent trying to make the most of out of the 'college experience'. On one hand, my mind was completely blown with how many libraries and coffee shops there were at college, whereas on the other hand, I was trying to enjoy being free and away from the shadow of my parents and their watchful eye.

You know, I must come by and grab a coffee sometime, although I'm not sure how awake I'll be or how much my brain won't be utterly absorbed by trying to prepare for work that morning. But it would be refreshing to see a friendly face. Consider me a little jealous, at times, of your world of work. Bearcreek has always been my home, although I will say that my family tended to keep themselves secluded to their own social circles. My Father was always a little wary of strangers. That might be why we've never met before. How about you? Have you lived in Bearcreek your entire life?

Haven't seen the race highlights yet, but I lowkey feel like going through with quali and the race was a horrible move, and I really hope the drivers rip into the FIA for the blatant disregard for driver safety this weekend.

"Oh, but they postponed quali!! They do care about the drivers!! You're just salty Lando didn't win!!"

Believe it or not, I'm far more upset for people like Alex (who didn't even get to race) and Franco (who didn't finish). Did I want Lando to win? Absolutely! But I also want driver safety to be a priority, and it really didn't look like it was.

And don't even get me started on the poor mechanics and engineers who ALSO had to deal with this bullshit at the end of a tripleheader.

When you have 5 red flags in a TWO-HOUR quali session, multiple drivers out of the race because of track conditions, it's time to consider whether having the race was the best decision.

Have you considered trying out martial arts? It's a blend of athleticism, discipline, and competition, with many styles to choose from. Plus, there are usually regular classes or meet-ups at local dojos or gyms where you can hone your skills and meet like-minded people. Speaking of gyms, you could sign up for something like yoga, spin class, and I think even the community center might host some clubs or things? I'm fairly certain anyway, but there's definitely things that resemble clubs and all that.

So...this might be perhaps the wildest idea I've had in a while, but I've seriously missed having a proper, dedicated hobby. Something structured - where you attend a weekly practice, or weekly meet-up - and something with a little bit of an edge. When you're at college, there are so many extra-curriculars or opportunities to spend your time, and it feels like the minute you turn into an adult? Those clubs are a little harder to find. For context - I have experience or interest in dancing, cheerleading, performing, poetry, creative writing and computer coding. Sparkle in a little bit of athletics, basketball, horse-riding and hiking in there too. Normally, I'd mention law or politics here, but I'm trying to find something outside of my work to try. Any suggestions, ideas or recommendations are FULLY encouraged, please! The more competitive, the better. I like competition and challenging myself.

Similarly, if anyone is looking for that sign or that push to start up something new? Let me be that sign. I'd love a buddy to join these kind of activities with.
