unlike their naturally dark-backed relatives, these animals completely lack melanin and thus have ZERO protection from the rays of the sun, in an environment with literally no shade. (they can dive, but they're not spending enough time down there to make a whole lot of difference across the board)

sooooo repeated UV damage over their lifetime tends to just eventually give them skin cancer, which kills them.

found a baby yaku amidst the Sketchbook-glitch-corruption wreckage..... wondering if he flipped skin tones between black and red and everything in between until he saw his to-be-grandparents (and started mimicking THEIR skin tone....... )

Now that the new Avatar movie has been announced and that concept arts were dropped along with it, i will now throw on how these artwork on the new Na'vi tribe we'll be seeing may have confirmed my assumtions skin tone wise.

I took a sample of that one Fire Na'vi woman's skin tone (on the first image) as well as the Omaticaya and Metkayina clans' for comparision (i could be incorrect on the first two and if yes my bad i tried to pick up midtone colours).

I theorised to myself, with the little help of outside opinions, that the blue skin tone of these Na'vi would be a ashy/desaturated shade of blue. The sample i took resemble a dark blue gray (or it might be lighter because there's a bit of shadow on where i picked the colour), so this theory could be most likely be true.

Aka I give her the bronze eyes back, and I (unfortunately) suck the melanin out of her. u_u It's not my fault, that's how she's described in the books (even tho I do like the darker skin)! It's so weird they swapped the eye and skin colors on which was lighter/darker.

Yet they kinda got Hei-Ran right with her color palette (brown/bronze eyes and porcelain skin too), but then you put her next to Rangi and the contrast is just insane like???? Did they forget that they were suppose to be so similar to look like twins? TT0TT
