Daniel taking more of a backseat during this session is, IMO, not only in deference to what is a highly traumatic memory for Louis, but also a calculated move on his part that speaks to the longer game he’s trying to play. He wants to take down Armand and remembering San Francisco just made it a real personal vendetta. But Armand can deflect Daniel’s blunt provocations (or at least suppress his reaction to them) pretty easily so that’s not going to work. Armand’s only weakness at this point in time is Louis. So it’s not only essential that Daniel stay on Louis’ good side, but also carefully nudge Louis to seeing the darker side to and duplicitous nature of Armand’s actions. This has already proven to work for him: at the end of episode 5, Daniel, in an uncharacteristically gentle tone, calmly led Louis to the conclusion he already reached about what (who) happened to both their memories. He’s indeed very careful all throughout the recollection of the trial to not be too flippant or interject too often. But when he does, outside of a few exceptions, he deliberately calls attention to Armand: his position in the narrative, the scope of his actions, emphasizing what he failed to do. It’s not quite enough to completely turn Louis against Armand, but seeds have been planted and I don’t believe it will take much more nudging from Daniel to send it all over the edge.

Definitely the test went the way I wanted. My little off - I didn't plan on going off but it probably showed that I was on the edge, on the limit and that's what they want to see at the end of the day. So, I was really pleased with basically hopping out of the Toro Rosso coming straight into the Red Bull and I think already my first timed lap or my second timed lap was on the money. That's what they wanted to see and then the long runs were good. I think I did all I could in that half a day.

Did the first run with those couple of spins, came back in, so I did maybe, I don’t know, eight laps or something, maybe 10. Came back in, we put some new tyres on, we put FP2 fuel in the car. I’m not gonna sugarcoat it, the first timed lap I did was on the money … like on the money. Like, you take the fuel out to put it to quali fuel, and it was a few hundredths off Max [Verstappen]’s pole time.

Daniel Ricciardo is, along with Lewis, THE most recognizable face and name in motorsport outside of the F1 fans bubble. Therefore, he is extremely valuable in terms of marketability. He is also an 8-time race winner. For that to be dismissed and to say he's average as if the past 2 years erased all his accomplishments is insane lmao.

Being an accomplished driver AND one of the most marketable athletes in your sport makes you valuable as fuck.

Ladies and gentlemen, I introduce you to a Dadniel AU! It's basically Daniel, Jasper, and Muack stranded in Antarctica

Idea: Daniel has been searching for a good place to build a temple in Xemüg's honor in Antarctica and by some weird coincidence Muack and Jasper (Jasper was basically just following the Platypus) managed to find where the cultist was. Muack wanted to bite Daniel's leg instead of his hand this time and Jasper just wanted to get his Platypus friend and go back to Spooky Island but ended up in Antarctica and finding someone who looked eerily similar to his best friend.

I have no idea where I'm going with this but I wanted Dadvid content and since there were no new ones I made this Dadniel AU between Daniel the cult leader taking care of the ghost of his enemy's best friend and a Platypus that probably wants him dead. (Tags have more info) ( •͈⁠ᴗ⁠•͈⁠)

Ngl I do want to go to the tour, and I *cloud* technically. But deep down I am still a little guy and would most likely have to attend with my father, plus the travel to the nearest venue. (which isn't super far, but still a long train ride, several hours plus booking a hotel for overnight.)

I simply cannot bear the idea of sitting next to my father while Dan and Phil make the most explicit gay jokes as I slowly die inside.

i think that viewing the little hope relationships as just ‘family’ ( specifically : blood family, ones with traditional roles and relationships, one bred from a nuclear familial structure ) has a habit of dismissing them entirely. it is not blood that binds them together, nor is it family structures, and throughout every iteration of their lives things change. sometimes they’re merely neighbors with a slim portion of blood relation, sometimes they’re bound by flimsy paper or war, and sometimes they’re students at a college following their professor around. the nature of their relationships change, as do their circumstances and surroundings, but they ( as a mismatched unit ) are eternally bound and divided by a child and an inherent, unescapable tragedy. the important aspect of their relationships is that they are agonized individuals who are stuck together and wouldn’t like to be. the important theme between them is that despite their determined suffering, all the bad ways they clash, and in spite of a bubbling self loathing so awful that it literally kills them, they have found love and comfort in each other anyway, or perhaps have realized a love that has always been there. there’s no ‘i love you as a daughter’ between angela and taylor, just as much as there isn’t any ‘i love you as a sibling’ between dennis and tanya. they just love each other. even the clarke family, arguably the most familial bond they have, still isn’t traditional. none of them are blood and all of them are strangers inside their own home. they don’t look alike and they don’t share dna and they typically don’t care for the facade of a family either, more content to treat each other like roommates at best, and that’s fascinating because why would they care? why would standard labels matter to souls as ancient as theirs? it’s just another flesh they adorn, it’s just another pain they’ll carry and shape and hate. idk! i just think forcing titles on it all is rather boring in nature, and actively hinders the genuine relationships there, in an attempt to have a rulebook of sorts to follow. i also just loathe how the found family trope is constantly turned into a literal family, when it was made to spit in the face of a nuclear family structure. but that’s just me <3

louis really is the unreliable narrator ever truly like he recalls his birthdate a year off, it was winter when his brother died but also it should've been near autumn and by the time his sister was getting married? he leaves out certain details deliberately, whether consciously— did you eat the baby?, or unconsciously— except you made sure lestat wouldn't really die didn't you? he recalls certain things a lot differently sometimes because he refuses to think about them plainly and sometimes because he really can't remember, he's guilty over how claudia came to be, well, claudia but throws almost all the fault on lestat by not acknowledging his better half in turning her, he corners a teenage journalist drugged out of his mind and fucking bitches all the way to hell about lestat only to wax poetics about the man again to the same guy decades later, and so he's a little brain fogged and a lot biased and you can't take any of what he says to scripture, only to find out that!!! his companion!!!! of 77 years!!!! was also!!!! not only Entirely Lying to him on accounts of Huge events of Much significance in his life but also has been abusing his ability to erase whole memories from his head to the point he can't remember fucking attempting suicide and alters memories so terribly too not just with physic powers but also through a lot of manipulation tactics (you Asked me to erase it!) so really the season finale leaves you wondering what better part of paris was all entirely wrong, what of armand and louis' relationship was just entirely fiction or just completely skewed? turned on his head? the man already lost so much to age and the odyssey of recollection now we learn his brain fog is also largely attributed to a whole other person fucking around with it, someone who we know used it A Lot by that point too and probably got careless after the fucking... seventieth decade doing this that louis suddenly noticed his photos being swapped out... armand has gotten so careless and used to power he said shit like well... maybe You put those photos there....well You asked me to erase it.... and louis fucking believed him too!! what of any of it is real, and he must be wondering too after all of it, he wanted this, to remember, he's been wracking his head for details about whether or not claudia was dreaming next to him that night a million years ago and her killer is right there at the table next to him. when he's crying recounting the death of his daughter to the guy who orchestrated it what has he ever really known at all.
