The Owl House Ending Anniversary Livestream

            These are the notes I’ve taken from The Owl House anniversary stream, just the stuff related to the show (though there was a hilarious anecdote from Sarah about having a theater light shine on her bald spot while attending an acting school);

For the finale, the VAs (and Dana and Eden) got to record voice work together for the first time since the covid lockdown. Sarah scream-cried and sobbed right after finishing the final lines for Luz. The recording occurred a few months before the finale aired.

            Zeno revealed that anime dub voice directors usually want a different direction for voice acting than with western animation, but when Zeno did a take for Hunter that he thought might’ve sounded too anime, everyone else was in full approval. From there, Zeno approached Hunter as the “anime emo boy” or “Sasuke” of the show, going for an “eastern anime edgy feel.” Sarah thought this fit given how much Hunter is trying; Zeno feels Hunter wears his emotions on his sleeves no matter how cool he tries to be.

Hunter would 100% be an anime fan and be obsessed with anime conventions in the human realm. Eden mentioned that Dana took a lot of anime inspiration when doing segments such as fight scenes or character power-ups, with Luz’s Titan form being based on Pokemon evolution.

            When voicing Lilith, Cissy would pull from her memories of her aunt Kim in translating the “fun, goofy” energy, and she normally does this for other fun aunt/maternal roles. Elizabeth Grullon brought in parts of her culture and ancestry when doing Camila, as per the advice of her late mentor Ken Washington.

            If the VAs could hang out with their characters for one day: Eden would take Boscha to therapy, and all of the VAs agreed, with Zeno ready to pay for Hunter’s (“The credit card will NOT decline”). Cissy would have a ride on Mike Socks. Elizabeth would visit the Demon Realm with Camila, get some drinks in her, make some arroz con pollo and tostones, put on some salsa music, and just vibe out. Sarah would also visit the Demon Realm with Luz, and wherever Luz likes to hang out; Maybe a beach day.

            Cissy thinks Lilith would go full-nerd when visiting the human realm, having a notebook and pen and going mad as she’s scribbling everything down. She’d stop people on the street to ask if they’ve had apple blood, and be an absolute menace, people would be freaking out.

            Pulling from themselves, Avi thinks Raine would meet things with a little bit of caution, having lots of disinfectant wipes, and eventually get comfortable, freely exploring without inhibition.

            Eden imagines Boscha would thrive in the human world, since there’s so many gullible people she could trick into being her followers. She’d either use the third eye for attention, or grow bangs/wear a beanie to hide it. Cissy joked that Boscha would run for president and win in a landslide, which is a bad idea because she’d have too much power at her fingertips.

            When it comes to Camila exploring the demon realm once everything’s cooled down, Elizabeth thinks she’d be a bit skeptical, but eventually relax, have some apple blood, kick back and make some friends… And then be ready to go back. Not an overnight stay, just a brief visit.

            Cissy was proudest of her performance as Lilith was “Why were you so easy to curse?!” in Agony of a Witch. For Zeno it was Thanks to Them, he felt it was a closed circle for Hunter; He enjoyed balancing various Hunter elements like the Golden Guard role, and the catharsis with Luz right afterwards. He’s glad it was vulnerable and open, wanting his performance to be honest and realistic. For Elizabeth it was Camila reacting to various Demon Realm segments such as Belos, or preparing to fight Kikimora.

Eden liked Boscha’s arc in For the Future, how it came full-circle when she helped the resistance because she didn’t mean real harm and just wanted things to go back to normal. For Sarah it was the ending of Yesterday’s Lie where Luz promises to stay in the human realm, she found it heartbreaking how it was Luz’s two worlds colliding; Sarah couldn’t wait to see the episode in its entirety. Raine was Avi’s first voice-acting role for animation, and they summoned the ‘guttural response’ to free themselves when doing the possession scene with Belos in the finale.

Luz’s favorite human realm drink is coffee or matcha due to her ADHD, the caffeine can help her focus, “turn Demon Realm,” but is also helpful for a nap. Sarah often brings large drinks into the studio, and described her performance as Luz as a cold brew, plus a giant gallon of water, plus some tea with honey after she’s done screaming.

            Hunter would like Red Bulls and go crazy with the energy. He’d apply Demon Realm mentality by believing Red Bull’s “gives you wings” advertisements, and write a letter to management demanding a refund when this doesn’t literally happen.

            Camila would love café bustelo, it’s a big Latina drink and was introduced to Elizabeth by her mom. The 4pm kind brings you to life and it’s the time for tias to gossip.

            Boscha is either a giant slurpee girl, or popping boba, because her third eye gives Boscha an inclination towards eye aesthetics. Plus Boscha could spit boba at people through her straw, which led to Sarah joking about Luz and Hunter walking in bespeckled with boba (“No Hunter, they do not give you wings”).

            Lilith would like pina colada, she’d think it’s the cool thing that everyone drinks, what with there being a whole song about it. Then she’d drink it and go on a tangent about how her mom never loved her, and Luz would ask her in concern how many she’s had. Lilith would collect several of the parachutes in her hair.

            Raine has a sensitive stomach, so they’re into kombucha and brew their own.

            (Fun fact; The group realized the eclipse was happening during the livestream and had a discussion over how to protect your eyes when watching it!)

            Rebecca Rose herself sent a question, asking what they think a palisman would taste like. They joked that Matthew Rhys was NOT here, and Dana apparently headcanons that palismen essence tastes like gushers. Zeno and Sarah joked that Belos has a sweet tooth and he’s obsessed because he left the human realm before they invented gushers. It never even occurred to Eden that palisman essence would have a flavor, it’d just be an energy boost, like pipe tobacco (and Sarah added this was appropriate because palismen are made of wood). Yesterday was Rebecca’s birthday and the VAs wished her a happy one.

            Zeno’s favorite quality about Hunter is his loyalty and dedication; When he sets his sights on something, he’s pretty relentless. He has a really deep well of complexity in him, half is angst but the other half is real heart.

            Elizabeth loves how Camila loves her kid so much that she’s willing to step past herself and her own limitations, her own fears and comfort zone, to connect with and support Luz. Sarah noted it’s like Camila is learning to be a kid again with her arc.

            Boscha doesn’t have a ton of great character traits, but she’s a strong athlete, doesn’t give up, and is powerful; Eden admires that about her, she’s badass. Everything else about her though…

            Sarah likes how Luz doesn’t have an ego; Yes she’s unapologetically herself and doesn’t know any other way, but when she messes up, she has no problem taking the blame and apologizing. She’ll own up to things and fix them. Though it was misguided, Luz was even willing to let go of everything she loved to make up for letting down the Demon Realm and protect everyone. It’s not easy to put aside your own wants and needs sometimes and apologize, accepting that you’re wrong.

            Lilith had a lot of faults, but her willingness to admit her own wrongdoing and go into the depths of her soul to figure out how to be better; Such as being a better auntie/sister, forgiving her parents, etc. She had a lot of growing up to do, and Cissy felt Dana gave Lilith such a beautiful way to go about that.

            Avi was glad to see Raine have stage fright and awkwardness/shyness in public and with social settings, but they can transform by stepping into this fierce protector/hero role, and find that confidence. It’s a multi-faceted character, a full human experience, and felt genuine to Avi.

            When asked if Boscha ever said sorry to Willow and Luz, Eden joked that love means never having to say sorry; Boscha probably skipped over that. Assumed she already said it at some point, the others just have bad memory. I’m sure they know, I helped them. I didn’t kill them and they’re still alive, so clearly…!

            The hardest episode to record was Thanks to Them for Zeno, the VAs had to take a break. It was already cathartic and then Hunter didn’t even get a break afterwards, plus Zeno had the knowledge of the show ending. For Elizabeth it was the finale due to the sadness of the show being over, but otherwise there was nothing hard for her because the experience was a dream come true; She was in pure joy when in the booth. Even when Camila was crying or saying goodbye, it was still fun for Elizabeth. But when she herself is saying goodbye, that’s when it’s hard for her.

            Eden also agreed on the finale due to how long it was (and she accounted for her role as voice director as well), mentioning how the episode was the culmination of so much, there was a lot of ground to cover, etc. It was so emotional how everyone brought so much, saying goodbye together as a cast. Not to mention the catharsis/closure of stamping Belos to death together.

            Sarah concurred, it was meta saying goodbye to the show and each other. But she also found Reaching Out hard, due to Luz’s complex emotions, her coming in and out a lot. She’s dealing with a great loss, and Sarah wanted to honor that grief, but also had Luz masking it, popping up, acting out, and needed to choose how/when to let that emotion come out. The grief wasn’t super-fresh, it comes in waves, and it was in that state where some are in shock or others cry; You never know when it’ll strike, when it’ll put you on edge. So Reaching Out was hard to map out for Sarah, especially with Luz just popping up to do one weird thing and then going away. It was a lot of fun, and workwise it was a lot of pressure to get it right.

            Cissy also had the finale, with the switch from Lilith making amends to being terrible again in the dream sequence being jarring. There was also Agony of a Witch, as the landing needed to be stuck to make the episode work; But Eden and Dana were there for the recording session to help.

            Avi had Follies at the Coven Day Parade, when Eda and Raine had their duel. Avi really had to tap into being angry and mad at someone they care so much about.

            If Elizabeth could give advice to any character, it’s for Boscha to go to therapy. Sarah tells Lilith to stand still and feel her feelings, you poor beautiful witch. Avi tells everyone to not be so hard on yourself. Cissy, to all (especially teenagers): It gets better, you think you know everything and you think you have the weight of your world on your hands (and tbf that was the case), but it gets better. Eden would tell Hunter to take a day off, take a nap. Zeno would tell everyone to do the same, it’s okay to let go. Eden would also advise Eda to lay off the law-breaking, Sarah said not to start her day with apple blood (save it for happy hour).

            Sarah’s favorite Hooty moment was the tea party, and how he would be haunted by his actions forever in Adventures in the Elements. Cissy loved Hooty and Lilith’s friendship, “No witch is an island!” Eden loves the first appearance of Port-a-Hooty, it had her in stitches the first time she saw it; There was sheer terror knowing he could travel. Sarah loved Hooty’s off-screen attack by Amity. For Zeno, it was two guards struggling to describe Hooty. Elizabeth concurred with everyone, and Avi liked it when Hooty just ate things and sometimes ruined a situation because of it. Cissy brought up Hooty’s skeleton bathing.

my favorite scully and mulder moments from s1

the evergreen classic mulder reaction to a terrified scully knocking at his door in the very first episode- how he checks over her, holds her close, and brings her into his room

(and then ANOTHER instance of examining each other for aliens in episode 8 which was wild. if i had a nickel for each time they had to look at each other's bodies for evidence of aliens, i'd only have two nickels, which isn't a lot, but its weird that it happened twice)

him playing with scully's necklace in episode 3, while admitting he feels "territorial"

the first time he calls scully "dana", right after her father dies- which surprises her so much she mumbles her name back to herself- and he follows up by grabbing her face and gently running his finger over her cheek

(and the first time she tries to call him "fox", after he had been awake for 3 straight days on a stakeout, and she begs him to go home- he laughs and says he even made his parents call him mulder)

((still, she brought him a sandwich and a drink- “if there’s an iced tea in that bag, could be love” “must be fate- root beer”))

scully in Doctor Mode™ after mulder got stuck in the fire in episode 12, trying to give him water as he lays in bed, while he gets all emo and pushes her hand away

when scully gets kidnapped in episode 15 and mulder calls her "dana" again over the phone, her first name slipping out in his fear, then he tells the kidnapper "listen to me, you lay one hand on scully, and so help me god..."

(and THEN he tells everyone going on her rescue mission that this is a very important mission to him, so please everybody do their best)

the endless banter: "i still don't get it. what does this have to do with us?" "robbing a jewelry store is a federal crime" (flatly) "thank you."

when he is at an autopsy with scully in episode 18 and makes it very clear he does Not Want To Be There (but she still is sad he won't join her on her next one in episode 22!)

"happy birthday scully!" (pause of confusion) "you're two months early!"

when she finally listened to the psychic to get evidence for a case in episode 13, trying to make mulder proud- "i'd thought you'd be pleased i'd opened myself to extreme possibilities"- only for him to yell at her for putting herself in danger

(later in the same episode she screamed at the criminal, saying that if he did anything to mulder, she'd kill him herself)

((AND their conversation at the end of that episode when mulder is laying in a hospital bed: "why can't you believe?" "i'm afraid"))

the very empire strikes back coded fighting in the arctic compound in episode 8

"you think it's remotely plausible that someone might think you're hot?" (stunned silence. scholars are still trying to figure out what was going on here)

oh, this one made me weepy: "i have never met anyone so passionate and dedicated to a belief as you. it's so intense, sometimes it's blinding. but there are others who are watching you, who know what i know, and whereas i can respect and admire your passion, they will use it against you. mulder, the truth is out there, but so are lies" aka the episode 17 monologue… what if i melted into a puddle? how would you react to this news? how about mulder the protector turning into mulder the protected?

(also, episode 17 had a moment where he grabbed her shoulder and leaned in and i had to restrain myself)

them having hand signals to indicate watch what you say, we’re being listened to

in episode 18, the preacher’s kid tries to taunt mulder with information about his sister and scully tries to shut him down Immediately

they’re looking for each other in the dark in episode 19 while a wild beast is on the loose and mulder finally kicks open the door and finds scully while she whispers “it’s okay, it’s me, it’s okay”

episode 20, when he shows her a bunch of lumberjacks, which he describes as “rugged manly men in the full bloom of their manhood” and he says she should look for anything unusual or a boyfriend among them... and she laughs

scully losing her mind when the evil cocoon bugs get on her, screaming at mulder to get them off of her, while he holds her still and explains it’s okay as long as they're in the light

(and then they sit on the bed, side by side, talking through the night)

when mulder’s friend dies and she kneels and says to him, “you’ve been through a lot… more than I think you realize” and encourages him to take some time for himself

any episode where they both wear big coats (for the snow in episode 8, or the rain in 20) is an instant classic to me

“mulder, you’re rushing me out of the room… is there a girl coming over?” from episode 11... yeah I laughed. and then laughed even more when he was just hanging out with deep throat in the next scene!

episode 23’s “how was the wedding? Did you catch the bouquet?” “maaaaybe 😊”

and who can forget the finale! she apologizes for doubting his alien leads; “I should know by now to trust your instincts” “why? no one else does” (both smile and i, once again, collapse)

there's so much to unpack here and i could spend a lifetime doing it, but before i watch s2 for the first time i needed to make note of the things that especially made me happy or brought great angst to the forefront; i am studying their dynamic and putting it in a bottle <3

hiiiiii im sorry this took a few days to get to i put a lot of thought into it <///3

so first of all. my #1 dream outlaws team is jason rose connor kara lorena. im not even exaggerating when i say i have thought about this team (whose dynamics i mostly made up) at least once a day for MONTHS. i know some of those characters being on a team together doesnt make sense but you just have to trust me. it all makes sense in my rich inner world. and someday i may get into it but i have a lot to say

but if im abiding by outlaws tradition of a trio. i have multiple options of who besides jay & rose.

eddie: obvious answer. hes been friends with both of them so its very common to put him in outlaws. HOWEVER.... i dont really see him as an outlaw. im including him in this list because i like the idea of the three of them together but i dont think he would really fit on an outlaws team. hes kinda just a normal hero and i dont think he would be super into the whole idea of killing people the way jason and rose do

kyle: i just think that the dynamic of jason rose & kyle would be SO funny. disasters. rose with kyle is "he was nice to me like 8 years ago so hes my best friend forever" while jason and kyle. you know. are the most annoying people ever. plus kyles views on killing are sorta "i dont do it unless i really want to but i think its cool" so he would tolerate them

steph: this would be so much fun. mwsl gave me minor crumbs of a jason rose & steph team up and i havent been the same since. steph can be a little bit murderous as a treat and jason & rose are enablers. idk i just think being an outlaw could be good for her

roy: HEAR ME OUT. SHUT UP AND HEAR ME OUT. i could fix rhato roy. my thought is roy post-cry for justice where hes mourning his daughters death and pushing everyone else away. and jason & rose go "quit your job join our emo band" and he becomes an outlaw bc he wants to be Angsty and Away From Heroes but jason & rose are like "sweet we have a responsible adult now 👍" and. roy cannot be around people younger than him without accidentally becoming an older brother figure. also roy & rose make me go crazy so im doing this for ME

eddie fyers: this popped into my head as i talked about eddie bloomberg earlier and i cant stop thinking about it. can you fucking imagine

artemis: yeah yeah she was already an outlaw. but what if she was again in a cooler more homosexual way. jason & artemis had a good dynamic sometimes in rhato 2016 when lobdell wasnt being weird, and rose & artemis would be so much fun given that rose loves to pick fights and artemis would be able to pick her up and throw her. to me it would be good and i want these two to interact

grace choi: okay listen. i just really liked her in outsiders 2003. as a treat to me i think she should be worse. canon toxic dyke getting worse because of a non canon toxic dyke and her boytoy freak

dana harlow: DANA COME BACK. she was the best ever for the two (2) issues shes been in. and rose & dana would be soooooo good and i need it so bad

but ideal jason & rose dynamic is this↓ so maybe its better for everyone if they have a red hood & ravager team up. hand in unlovable hand.

AHHH, I JUST FINISHED CHAPTER 17 AND AM NOW LEFT TO SIT WITH MY FEELINGSSS 😫😫

Honestly, though, another AMAZING chapter!! I keep getting floored by the sheer word counts you’re producing! 25k?? WOW, you’re incredible! Everything was so well written, bestie; I feel like you’re a born writer. The contrast between cute, fluffy scenes and those genuinely chilling moments was so well put together. Speaking of spooky moments, that scene with shadows creeping around our ghost-busting musketeers made me so anxious. I was legit feeling claustrophobic!!

That scene with Seokjin was just 🤌🥵🥵 (need I say more?) and YOONGI!! My poor hearttttt. The way he loved his mother despite her being pretty sporadic parental-wise, it was clear that she cared greatly for Yoongi despite her affairs. It honestly broke my heart just imagining how Yoongi felt the moment he heard of his mother's tragic passing 😭

AND (bear with me 😉) TAE! You big old doofus!! I’m so conflicted. Why would he do this to our MC? Why would YOU do this to me?? (lol) I’m so stuck between understanding his actions and being heartbroken. On one hand, I get why he’d try and move on. MC appears pretty taken, but hookups? TAE—

How could this happen to my shy bear? Literally how??? He’s so shy. 😩 I’m NOT prepared for the angst that’ll follow this next chapter…

Anyways, I loved this chapter so much! I feel like I’ve already rambled enough, so I’ll leave my thoughts with that. You’re a fantastic writer, Dana!! Can’t wait to read the next one!

Ohhhh my Angel. The past two chapters (Seokjin-centric, which I also love) have me desperately missing him! I thought it was time to dive into his past a little bit, especially because he trusts Y/N completely by now. Despite his mother's flaws, Yoongi still adored her, and she did try her best to be a good mother. Eventually, when I get to Yoongi's prequel, we'll find out more about their interesting relationship!

HA BEAR WITH ME! PUNNY! Tae is operating off of what I like to call Capricorn Spite. and probably jealousy and confusion. Considering he was very clearly into Y/N (despite her realizing that) it seems he's trying to either distract or distance himself :( And while he IS very shy, he has been sort of overcoming that personality trait, and I think the photography class (him getting to express himself) has brought him out of his shell and realizing his potential to grow as a person. Ah. Def more angst to follow but keep in mind this story plans to have a happy ole ot7 ending (when I'm like eighty at this point 💀)

Characters: Vicky Lopez, Julian Ramis, Pippa Goldfinch, Dana Lopez, Chelsea Bloom, Edward Ramis (mentioned), Freddy Stewart (mentioned) Warnings: Teen angst, emotional abuse from parent to child, early spoilers for S5, underage drug use, canon divergence Relationship(s): Vicky Lopez & Julian Ramis, Chelsea Bloom/Vicky Lopez, Julian Ramis/Freddy Stewart (mentioned former one-sided crush on Julian’s side) (pls don’t hate me) Synopsis: Vicky, stressed out over recent issues, decides to buy drugs to relax. There is only one person she knows who has them. (Please note: I am aware the characters’ interactions in this fic are not canon. I just merely did some…divergence, if you will.) Feb. 13, 2018 10 more minutes until lunch. Vicky raps her pinky against the desk repeatedly in anticipation. Come on, damn clock, go faster! She grabs her paper and scribbles some more answers onto her worksheet. It’s science, a subject she gave zero shits about, so she doesn’t care whether her answers are correct. Once she finishes, she scratches her left cheek as she glares up at the clock, now continuously tapping her foot against the floor like it’s some belated kind of morse code. 8 more minutes. She lets out a loud exhale through her nostrils as she puts her head down on her desk, her hands running through her wavy black locks. Out of the corner of her eye, she spots Chelsea, her best friend, giving her a small look of concern from the other side of the classroom. Are you alright? Chelsea mouths. Vicky nods quickly. I’m fine, she bullshits silently. Chelsea looks back at her worksheet, and Vicky looks back up at the clock. 5 more minutes. Fuck this. If she had to last another unbearable 5 minutes in Miss Goldfinch’s class, she was going to lose her fucking mind. Also, it was 5 mere minutes, so why not just ditch? She thinks as her hand shoots up. “Yes, Vicky?” Miss Goldfinch asks. “CAN I USE THE BATHROOM?” Vicky exclaims in her best I-am-in-pain-and-I-must-piss voice. Miss Goldfinch glances at the clock. “Vicky, dear, it’s 4 and a half more minutes until the end of lunch, can’t you just hold it in?” Welp, that didn’t work. Time for the Trump card. “I DON’T THINK I CAN, MISS GOLDFINCH.” Vicky says through clenched teeth. Miss Goldfinch looks back at her and frowns. “What do you mean by that?” Vicky walks up to Miss Goldfinch and whispers some words into her ear. “Oh…OH…okay, then. Do you need anything?” Vicky shakes her head rapidly. “...Well, alright, then, go right ahead to the bathroom, and take your backpack with you if you must.” “Thank you, ma’am!” Vicky shouts as she grabs her bag and power walks out of the classroom. Great. Now that period 4 torture time’s basically over, now all I need to do is wait for…wait, what’s his name? She pulls out her phone and checks her notes. Julian Ramis “The Murderer Kid” …Ah, yeah, him. According to reports, the kid was arrested for murder around five years ago, which is why people tend to avoid him. However, she did not know everything that happened, and even information about the crime wasn't exactly what she wanted. What she wanted was cannabis. “Who’s that?” Vicky asks, pointing to the boy sitting alone at the less crowded side of the bleachers, typing on his laptop. “Oh, him?” Chelsea asks. “Yeah, beanie boy.” Vicky replies. “Is he a transfer or something? I haven’t really noticed him before until now.” “Oh, no, he ain’t a transfer.” Chelsea responds, shaking her head. “That’s Julian Ramis. Apparently, dude, uh-” Chelsea’s hesitating now. “He what?” “He, uh, ‘game over’-ed someone, like 5 years ago.” Vicky could feel her eyes widen and her jaw drop. “Are you, like, serious about this?!” “Yeah, like totes serious!” Chelsea exclaims as the two girls walk down the bleacher stairs. “Why else would he be so emo-looking?! Constantly smells of weed, too. I feel kinda bad for him, but at the same time, he’s like, really scary. Last time I tried talking to him, he immediately started getting high and mighty, calling me a ‘ginger, rat-faced bimbo!’” She shudders. “Jeez, he seems pretty bad.” Vicky replies. Of course, a guy who constantly smells of weed would have weed in his general vicinity, right? Vicky rehearses her plan in her hand once again. Alright, once the bell rings, find Julian, drag him over to the gender-neutral bathroom, and force him to fork over the drugs. And if all else goes to absolute shit, then remember that one self-defense acronym!...What was that one acronym again-? BBBBBRRRRRIIIIINNNNNG!!!!! Oh yeah, ‘solar plexus’, ‘instep’, ‘nose’, and ‘groin’. Alright, I’m ready. When lunch comes around, the whole school grounds are open, so Vicky knew she had a lot of searching to do. However, considering where she had seen him the first time, she had a good idea on where he was going to be. Sure enough, as Vicky clambers onto the bleachers, she spots Julian in the relatively uncrowded corner, eating what seems to be a meatloaf sandwich with one hand and typing on his laptop with the other. He’s also hidden in the shade, like a true emo. Vicky takes a deep breath in and exhales. Fuck it. Just introduce yourself and try not to get into trouble. She walks over to Julian, who’s still too invested in his laptop to even acknowledge her. What is he even doing, anyway? Writing fanfiction? As quietly as possible, she looks over his shoulder to study his screen. Oh. Oh. First of all, Chelsea was right, he does in fact smell like weed. Second of all, what the hell is he even trying to type? “Rejected and despised by all, I walk a dark and tormented path, leading to despair…” Julian suddenly shuts his laptop. “You know I know you’re behind me, right?” Shit. “I-uh-” She’s stammering now, trying hard to form words in her mouth. She then points at his backpack. “WEED. NOW.” It doesn’t take a genius to process what Vicky’s asking for. Julian takes 2 seconds. “...no.” “What?!” Vicky sputters. “But WHY?!” Julian slams his hand over her mouth and shushes her. “Jesus Christ, at least whisper!” In response, she removes his hand and hisses through gritted teeth, “...but WHY?!” He waves his free hand at the surrounding people. “Are you SERIOUS?!” He seethes. “Who KNOWS what the fuck you’d might say if I give it to you, you absolute dumbass!” Vicky whispers, “Come ONNN, Julian, just one ounce! Socializing and school’s been so hard for me lately! I bet you can relate!” The moment the last sentence leaves her mouth, she notices Julian’s eyes widen and his mouth hang open. “You-” He hesitates. “You-” Oh, fuck, I really screwed up big time, didn’t I?

Julian’s free hand is curling into a fist. …Oop, yup, I really screwed up big time. The hand that she’s clutching is shaking exponentially, like the boy’s about to explode at any second. She closes her eyes, bracing for the punch… BBBBBRRRRRIIIIINNNNNG!!!!! …but the punch never comes. Julian lowers both of his hands, glances at the crowd going towards the school doors, then looks right back at Vicky. To her surprise, his shoulders sag, and he lets out a huge sigh. “You know what? There’s no point in arguing. Meet me in the alley behind the building after school today.” “B-but I got cheer practice today-” “Fuck it, tomorrow.” He turns around and follows the crowd as they’re entering the building. “And bring the money!” The rest of the day had gone by in an absolute blur, and eventually Vicky found herself in the girl’s lockers with the rest of the cheerleading squad. “Yeesh, that shit was TOUGH!” One of the girls groans as she puts her stuff into her bag. “Tell me ‘bout it,” Chelsea grumbles. “Well, at least we had each other, right?” She gives a playful elbow jab in Vicky’s direction. “Oh, yeah, yup, mhm!” Vicky instantly replies, nodding. Chelsea buttons up her shirt and smiles at her. “Alright, I’m gonna wait for you outside, is that okay?” “Yeah, sure.” Vicky watches as Chelsea leave the locker rooms. “Oh, hi, Coach Kirk!” Chelsea exclaims. Sure enough, once Vicky leaves the school building, she notices Chelsea waiting for her in the courtyard. After they greet each other, they settle into their classic routine that is walking in complete investment with each others’ day. “Yeeeaaah, that test was TOTES unfair. I mean, why the FUCK were there apparently 3 Bs in a row?!” Vicky hisses angrily as she kicks a pebble on the sidewalk. Both girls watch as it hops and skitters down the road and onto the street. Suddenly, the pebble manages to hit a passing squirrel on the head, causing it to screech and hop away into a bush. “…Whoops.” The girls then continue to walk in silence. Vicky has no idea on what to talk about, and as far as she can tell, Chelsea didn’t know what to say either. That is, until she spoke. “Y’know, Vick…” Chelsea said as they stopped at a crossroad, “…what date is it today?” Oh, shit, I kinda forgot about that, Vicky chastises herself as she pulls out her phone. “Oh, it’s February 13. Why’d you ask?” “…what’s the signa— sigmi— eegh!” Chelsea shakes her head as she corrects herself. “SIGNIFICANCE of tomorrow?” She fidgets with her fingers as the two girls make eye contact. “Tomorrow’s February 14.” “Yeah, and what’s also tomorrow…?” Chelsea’s hands are waving slightly. Vicky can feel a slight uncertainty in the back of her mind. Then it hits her. “Tomorrow’s…Valentine’s Day.” “Y-yeah, I was originally hoping to do this tomorrow, but I think it’s better that I do this today.” Chelsea puts her backpack down in front of her and opens it. “Hold on, wait just a second-” Vicky feels herself standing completely still as she watches Chelsea continuously shuffling through her bag. What is going on?! As much as she loved Chelsea as a friend, something begins stirring in the back of Vicky’s mind. Oh, God, what’s gonna happen? Is Chelsea gonna give me a “Fuck you” card??? Wait, what did I even do to deserve it, then- “Here, I found it!” Chelsea stands up, one of her hands clenched around something. What even is it? “Uh, Vicky…” Chelsea’s now tapping her pointer fingers together, her hand still holding something. “You know we’ve been friends for a while…and being by your side for all these years has made me realize something.” Wait, is this going where I think it’s going- “…I…like you. Like, really, really, like, like you.” Right as the words leave Chelsea’s lips, something in Vicky’s heart stops. What that something is, Vicky doesn’t know. Is the feeling in her chest anxiety? Excitement?? Horror??? “Oh, shit, I forgot the card-” OH, GOD, THERE’S MORE?! Chelsea digs through her bag some more and pulls out a small pink card folded in half. To Chelsea’s credit, the card didn’t look bad — Vicky herself spots the amount of effort that was put into the paper hearts, the origami butterflies, and the pop-up rainbow. But something still is twisting Vicky’s stomach into two, and she doesn’t know what. She can’t even pay attention to what Chelsea was saying until the last part. “So, uh…Vicky Lopez…will you be my girlfriend?” Chelsea says as she opens the palm  of her hand to reveal what was in it. A heart locket necklace. Shit. On one hand, Vicky knows how incredibly sweet Chelsea is being right now, and she herself does care for Chelsea. But does she care for her that way? Do I like girls romantically? Do I like Chelsea romantically?! Hell, what would Mom think?! Smiling uncertainly, Vicky tentatively takes the necklace out of Chelsea’s hand and puts it around her own neck. It’s Vicky’s exact size. Vicky then takes the card from Chelsea’s other hand and skims through its contents. “I…” She finally stammers out, “I-I don’t know what to say…” Even Chelsea at this point looks anxiety-ridden — she’s fidgeting with her fingers and one of her knees is knocking against the other. What should I say? Vicky thinks. What should I do?! Throughout all her 18 years of living, she’s never even thought about love. Her mom would’ve probably set her up with some rich dude, anyway! There are two options she can take now — either she lets Chelsea down as gently as possible, or she accepts the confession and possibly puts her and Chelsea into a fuckton of shit. Fuck it, one option is safer than the other. This is for both her and Chelsea’s good. “I’m sorry, Chelsea…” She mumbles, “…but no, I don’t like you that way.” Chelsea’s expression drops into what can be best described as “well-hidden dismay instead of disappointment”. Shit, this isn’t very “let her down gently-” “I…” Chelsea hesitates, probably unsure of what to say. Vicky closes her eyes, getting ready for any violent outburst. What Chelsea does next isn’t what can be described as “violent”, but it still catches Vicky off guard. Out of absolute nowhere, Chelsea’s expression morphs into anger as she exclaims, “Well, I guess you don’t want this, then!” and grabs the necklace like it’s Vicky’s collar. “Chelsea, what the fu-?!” Just before she could finish her sentence, the necklace’s clasp breaks into two, causing it to get wrenched off her neck. Both girls are now standing at the crosswalk in stunned silence, Vicky with a Valentine’s Day card and pain in the back of her neck, and Chelsea with a necklace with a broken clasp and shock engraved into her facial expression. Chelsea speaks first. “Vicky, I-“ Chelsea’s words breaking the heavy air between them are what Vicky needs to talk. “I think I have to go.” “Vicky, I’m-” “Look, I’m so sorry, I think I have to go!” Vicky exclaims as she turns around and dashes across the street, leaving Chelsea in the dust. Shit. Shit shit shit shit shit. If things can’t get any worse, Vicky’s mother Dana is the one to greet her at the door. “You’re 10 minutes late, Victoria.” She drawls dryly. “I know.” Vicky lowers her head sheepishly. Dana scoffs. “‘I know’ won’t cut it. Be glad I don’t feel like arguing right now, young lady, because I’m NOT happy with your behavior today!” “Wait, what?!” Vicky protests. “What do you mean by that?!” Wordlessly, Dana reached inside one of her pockets and pulls out her phone and presses play on an audio file. It’s a voicemail. From Miss Goldfinch. Of course it’s fucking Miss Goldfinch. “Uh, hi, Mrs. Lopez, this is Vicky’s teacher speaking. I just want to talk to you about my concerns regarding your daughter’s recent behavior.”  Vicky’s eyes are glued to the phone in Dana’s hand, but through the corner of her eye, she notices Dana shaking her head and mouthing, Disappointed. I’m so disappointed. “Now, she’s not in trouble, but I’ve noticed she’s been increasingly more anxious over the past couple of days. Is it alright if we schedule a time and date to talk about it? Thank you.” The voicemail stops, and Vicky lowers her head to the floor. “Like I said before, be glad I don’t feel like arguing with you today. Just…just go to your room. You’ve embarrassed me enough.” Ashamed, Vicky walks past her mother and heads up to her room. Once she enters, she closes the door behind her and sighs as she leans against it and slides down. Oh, wait a second, I still have Chelsea’s card! Luckily, this time Vicky isn’t driven by her anxiety, so she actually decides to herself to read it and not skim over. Hey Vicky, If you got this card, then this means that either you accepted my confession or rejected it but were nice enough to take the card anyway. Either way, happy Valentine’s Day! Here’s a little thing I wrote: ”I cannot fathom my lust for the stars, because the world taught me to always look at the ground. When I look at you—my sun—I know I’d have to relinquish you from my sights, yet I wouldn’t mind if you were the last person I’d see before my eyes burn out from your beauty. I’d rather stare at you for 100 seconds and go blind than spend 100 years without you by my side.” …Okay, I stole that off of someone’s FriendNet profile, but you know I’m not great at expressing my feelings through words. First of all kudos to Dana Terrace and the animation team. Sooooo many amazing moments, its no wonder she had to take a break. Given the crunch time Disney put her on, she had to work SO hard to get what she wanted/or needed to make this finale great! Just everything was perfect! I was on the edge of my seat and all I wanted was for Luz and everyone to be okay (except maybe Belos... screw you Philip 8B)

Anything that surprised me... I guess that someone was right that it was a titan in that realm Luz saw. I also admit was somewhat surprised the Collector didn’t really know about what happened in regards to King’s species. Though it makes me wonder... what happened to their siblings. They mentioned them when Luz died... so ... what became of them...

Though speaking of Luz’s death... why did she die when touched by whatever that attack was by Belos? Buttt... not Raine? I mean granted he used it as an attack but the attack/fungi whatever was affecting Collector and they were genuinely worried for Eda when it spread. I mean I’m not complaining I wanted Raine to live for Eda. But I’m... “how come Raine wasn’t affected?” Raine was just put under restraint?oO

I admit Luz’s death really got me. On so many levels for her heart. And the irony, cause the Collector was only trying to do what she advised him on. (no not blaming him just saying big picture cruel irony). But also dang was somewhat impressed when Eda and King went beast mode on Belos for that.

And just random was also impressed that Amity was able to wake up/or fight that toy spell the Collector put on them. I dunno just did pointed out that Amity is stronger than she’s given credit as a witch. Luz’s ultimate titan magic/witch mode was both beautiful and AWESOME! Just fantastic design.

Loved King’s dad, lol. Feel like in another life King’s dad could had been roomies with Eda. LOVEDDDD the epilogue, just was glad to see Luz did finish school and got a writers scholarship :). Though.. seeing that Hooty photo... does that mean the human world knows about the demon realm? Or did they just do more visits now that the portal’s fixed. Also Hooty anime eyes so cute:3!

Also was happy that she and Vee graduated together. Because that meant Camila adopted Vee and loved her just like her own child. And omg they had a photo of Stringbean in a cute pet hat XD! Classic... though who was Vee playing baseball/or softball with... Masha? Loved everyone’s grown designs:). And the Flapjack tattoos so sweet:3 !

Sooo happy for Hunter that he’s got a happy ending. And I assume a family with both Darius and the Clawthorne’s. NO ONE will not convince me he’s become part of both families. And his new Palisman is a bluejay, sweet! Uhh thought it was funny/cute Lilith considered putting a disco room? (that corner was hard to read). That we also got to see her Raven harpy design? (she is a raven right?oO). 

Also loveedddd her quinceanera party they did. A very Owl House style Cinderella dress complete with that adorable mouse XD. Loved how the Bat Queen has one of her kids going emo/goth?.  Was I shocked the magic was returning/glyph wise... no. Not really magic’s not exactly nature. But it makes me think of that Jurassic Park quote “life finds a way”.

Also HUNTLOWWWWWWWWWW!! Haha sorry/not sorry.

That being said did I see anything I wanted done differently or wished could had been changed. Don’t get pissed I LOVED the finale. But I can admit it was rushed. But I’m also noting that I AM NOT blaming Dana Terrace or the crew/staff... who do I blame? YOU DISNEY! I FUCKING BLAME YOU!! AND I WILL CONTINUE TO BLAME YOU UNLESS YOU DO RIGHT BY THE CREATOR/AND STAFF.

Moving onnn... I’m just gonna say what I wish could had been done. Again I do not blame Dana Terrace. I know Disney did her an EXTREME wrong and she was not even given a PROPER third season. Unlike her other tv shows... like Big City Greens.. who got a fourth season and a movie >3>. I know she was crunched for time and was just dealing the hand that was given to her.

So to start....

I’m gonna bite the bullet and I admit the finale instantly made me wanna see ships explored/or finished.

Like Alador’s marriage... we never saw Odalia so I’m gonna assume he divorced her. And its clear the children have nothing to do with her but still wanted some clarity.

Also... was there suppose to be a hint of Darius/Alador.... I dunno. Felt like there was. I’m not against the idea. Could have gone with the flow that they were rivals/with chemistry. Plus heyyy new stepdad for Hunter.

Also... whats Steve’s relationship with Lilith? No not like ship... I think he’s too young(ages aren’t my strongest suit unless clarified better). Was he suppose to be her Luz?oO

Kinda wish The Blight twins could had been explored... would had like to had known Ed’s date who were theyyy...

Also what was Viney/Jerbo’s relationship. I don’t even care if they weren’t dating. Just was dying to know the story of why she was so pissed at him to call him traitor once oO

And hate to be the dummy but did Eda/Raine get married? oO I didn’t see a ring.. or do they do something else for Demon World?

What became of the Bat Queen and the palisman during Collector’s brief reign. I never saw them turned into toys...also would Luz ever find her owner. Part of me almost wonders if it was originally the Titan(aka King’s dad)

Speaking of which wish he and King could had met.

In addition... IS NO ONE GONNA TALK ABOUT HOW A HOOTY THING IS IN HIS EYE?!!Was that suppose to hint he made Hooty? Was Hooty there for him to guard King?

What became of Collector’s family? Are they the reason that Owl curse got spread.... What was that final print in Collector’s book... felt like they avoided that for a reason would it had summoned them? Or caused more harm?

Also why haven’t Eda/Lilith been free of the curse? I assume since Alador is finding a way to undo the draining spell, that means its possible for them to be free as well.

I admit I wanted to know more of what became of Caleb... Yes I know the rumor was Dana Terrace wanted to do a prequel going into his and Philip’s background... but Disney is a moneygrubbing little worm.... so unless they think they’ll make more money out of that.... I’m not holding my breath. Would have liked to know what became of his wife/girlfriend Evelyn? Were fans right is she the ancestor of Eda’s family. 

And I’ll address an elephant in the room... Philip himself. I do feel his ending was a bit rushed for the finale. Yes he gave us a fight but his literal end felt... sorry “Starvstheforcesofevil/ Ludo” set. Kinda mooted if you get my drift..... what would I had wanted? 

I admit I dunno... Unlike some of the fandom I have mixed feelings with Belos/Philip. On one hand he’s an amazing/ EVIL villain. On the other hand... I don’t have a lot of sympathy for him. I had more for the Collector. Now again this could had been because Terrace had more planned and that was crushed due to Disney. Its just I dunno how to explain it... I did see the possiblity of a “oh redeemable villain” it was done with Andrias from Amphibia... but Andrias had more hesitation even in his actions.... Belos didn’t really have that. We weren’t given a Darth Vader ending where he regrets or we see his “spirit”. And while I do think even if she wanted a prequel... I don’t think she was mincing words with us as fans. When she had King’s father call him out on his behavior. We can see what triggered/pushed him all we want. But at the end of the day, Philip gave up his humanity. 

He quit caring, he may have been innocent once. But he threw it away for Christian radicalism, angry that his brother wasn’t following the script, and was willing to commit MASS genocide for it. At most I think those visions of his brother and the golden guards were the closest he had to coming to terms with his past and chose to ignore it. I dunno what I would have liked for his ending... maybe see that his plans would always fail? Maybe see a spirit of Caleb call him out one more time? Or I dunno something other than a simple stomp 8B. I dunno at most all I can say... would have LOVED to see Camila hit him for hurting her child.

Also... I do wish if the series had continued Vee could have been involved more. I feel like from that tarot card reading from Masha. That it wasn’t just aimed at Luz, I feel like the story hinted she would be involved with this story/fight against Belos.

see Vee/Masha end up together. Sorry/not sorry but they felt like role reverse Amity/Luz.

Wish Luz could have made friends with more humans, feel like due to the obvious storyline she wasn’t given a chance to bond with the new kids/or Masha’s camp friends and they felt like they were important. Heck they could have helped her. I think but thats my opinion.

I WANTED A HUNTLOW KISS!!! buttt I’ve learned from anime it isn’t all about the kissing. Just acknowledging can be enough. I think thats why we didn’t see Raeda kiss... or did I miss that?oO

TV Show game

I saw @sitp-recs​ do this so I thought i would too! Tagging whoever reads this!

1. Torchwood. Not really a shock as I post about this a fair bit 🥲

2. Doctor Who! Particularly the first five seasons of the reboot series. I haven’t actually watched this in years but I was a favourite when I was a kid, and I still love the older seasons now! I’m really looking forward to seeing what Ncuti Gatwa does as the doctor.

3. Sarah Jane Adventures: Still on the whoniverse train but this was a fucking favourite as a kid! A children’s show but still entertaining for adults. The Trickster in particular was legit a terrifying villain and I kind of wish he’d be brought back somehow (but also not because I wouldn’t want him to get overused). Rest in peace Elisabeth Sladen.

4. The X Files: I nicked my dad’s DVDs when I was around fourteen and binge watched the whole show, I love you Dana Scully I love you Fox Mulder I love you weird aliens I love you cults I love you terrible government people I love you fucked up incest episode I love you funny episode where Mulder does a little scream I love you plotpoints I can’t even remember. I’ll kiss you on the mouth dana.

5. Dark. The most well weaved story I’ve ever watched. Everything is connected.

6. Supernatural. I never actually finished spn, I stopped around season 8/9, and I can’t remember half the seasons but it has a special place in my heart (especially with the spooky vibes that the first seasons had) because it was my favourite show during my emo years and I adore how there’s still so much drama surrounding it. Long live that gay angel. 

7. Arrested Development: The original 3 seasons were the funniest thing i’ve ever watched. You can be 100% certain that at any point there’s a scene from this show playing in my head.

8. Yellowjackets: I’ve only seen season one as I don’t have paramount and am unfortunately going to have to wait until it comes out on DVD, but I binged watched the first season in a couple of days and I loved it! It’s such a good slow burn. Also I am a Misty Quigley stan she has never done anything wrong ever.

Yes you've finally reached Clude Bruckman! It's generally regarded as one of the best of the entire show (and its written by Darin Morgan, same guy that wrote Humbug) cause it manages to mix the silly and the profound and pack some heavy themes in there without feeling pretentious or heavy (death, predetermination, free will, etc which is why Scully talking about Moby Dick/Macbeth is both an incredible character detail-what an endearingly nerdy thing to do lol- and also very relevant), anyway this episode is very dear to my heart cause of the Scully/Clyde relationship, she may not believe him (kinda) but she does do the much more important thing, show him empathy and treat him like a human being and in turn he does her the kindness of not telling her how she'll die, these two peeople just happened to like each other and show each other kindness in the midst of all the madness, and that's the X files at its best

it really WAS a good episode, i can certainly see why it bears the honor of being beloved. shoutout to darin morgan, i see what you have done for us. (they should have let him write more stuff. google show me this guy's ao3 account)

i LOVED scully playing cards and talking about macbeth and moby dick. she is such a nerd (affectionate) please dana scully let's talk classic literature i know you'll have a lot to say on pride and prejudice.

but then to see her also, in entire seriousness, ask how she dies... oooh! i'm saying, she is more open to possibilities outside of science than she will let herself believe

the whole concept of predestination was explored not just through this dude seeing the future, but also through the killer doing what he did because he saw himself doing it. i thought that was really interesting as well. how much control do you have as one person over the future? who knows. and then clyde telling the killer he does what he does because he is a maniac lmaooo

and then the ending... man... i was so sad!! i was thinking clyde made it out of the woods but :( he was so funny and thoughtful

it really goes to show how genuinely kind of a character scully is, with, like you said, how she shows him empathy even if she doesn't 100% believe he can see the future. i have been going feral for scully for the past few weeks and this certainly added fuel to that fire. the way she takes care of the remains and the dog. and how she cried for him... yeah i'm emo.

the dog. the dog! i hope this is just what she needed in her life. a little fuzzy friend to ease the hardships these writers put her through. and they can go for walks and play fetch and stuff. i KNEW she was a dog person. jury's out on mulder though, i'm still thinking he's a cat guy after getting bit by that dog in 01x08. and he has that energy about him

but yes. VERY good episode. i look forward to someday doing a rewatch without pausing every 30 seconds to note how excited i was haha

she’s a partial repaint of salon n spa dana. i still have to fix the wobbly bits in her eye, fangs, and might minimize the amount freckles as well. i asked someone whose opinion i value what they thought about her so far and they were not a fan of the freckles. ever since then i’ve been doubting this choice!

she was turned long before the masquerade ball and is still in her 2006 midwest emo vibe.
