Whumptober Alt Prompts Survivor's Guilt/Body swap
And we're back for @whumptober, starting a little early here as it's still September but it's October in Oceania!
Also officially a year since i started writing for TVDs so yay, thankful to all those who found me and like what i write.
Sorry it's mostly pain and here's the latest pain, also known as 'Too sad for me to write. and 'The reflection he wished he was blind to'
Elijah takes a few leaves out of Klaus's book of trick and goes behind his little brother's back to save his life.
Klaus is left haunted by the last gift his brother gives him,
-----
Klaus plays it out, how it would have gone, how it should have gone, every morning and night staring into the mirror.
It’s not his face staring back.
“Brother, I can't let you do this.” Elijah would have started.
Face showing the love that had helped protect the shard Klaus’ humanity despite his own attempts to drown it in blood for centuries.
“You have to.” he was have replied, trying to be cold and distance to help Elijah’s pain.
“Let me.” Elijah would have pleaded, always ready to sacrifice himself, like he expected Klaus to let him after a thousand year of Elijah being his stone.
Like he hadn’t lived years without him and felt that cold, like he could face that again.
“Never,” he would have snapped back standing strong, moving closer to set a hand on his shoulder, knowing touch was a weakness of his brother’s “this is my redemption.” he would have explained, promised him that he understood what he was doing, convinced his brother that it was for the best.
That it had to be this way.
They may have fought, Elijah would never have accepted it easily, but Klaus was stronger and would have cheated if he had to.
“Brother.“ he would have smiled to show Elijah he was okay with this, that Elijah’s tireless quest had been completed, that he no longer needed to worry about Klaus.
“Brother.” Elijah would have said and Klaus would have treasured the care in his eyes and voice, used it to strengthen his resolve.
He wins, his brother gives in.
Their siblings would have helped him heal, Elijah would recover from grief and heal. He would be there for Hope, the way he should have always been, the way he had been for Klaus and the rest of them their whole lives.
Elijah would have finally gotten the chance to live for himself.
But that hadn’t happened.
His brother outplayed him.
Elijah hadn’t given him a chance. One moment he was prepared for his death then he was stumbling in a completely different place.
He had raced to where he should be, where the only thing that could kill them was. Knowing what had happened even if he hadn’t checked, the absences of the Hollow made it clear.
He had arrived to flames and his own body burning.
An echo to the same, years ago when it was Kol burning.
A horrible reverse of another time when he saved himself, by stealing another’s body.
A reminder of another time he arrived too late to save Elijah.
He didn’t want this, he had thought as he stumbled to stand over the remains, his ashen body, an empty corpse.
There were no last words, no desperate threats or bargains, no goodbye. He wonders if Elijah had even known he was there, that he wasn’t alone.
In his mind’s replay, like his dreams he won, he died and Elijah lived.
In the real world Elijah’s brown eyes stare back from his reflection but Elijah is gone.
Only Klaus remains.
In a world where he has to get used to the fact that, all that is left of the brother he had looked up to in his very long life was the body, his body now.
He wonders who the ache will fade for first, him, or his siblings.
The necklace Davina spelled sits on the edge besides the sink, the only thing that helps him keep him sanity. That stops him from flinching at every passing reflection, from seeing his brother in the eyes of those who speak to him.
He knows she created more for Kol’s sake than his own but he owes her for it in a way he can never make up for it.
“I don't blame.” Kol told him after he explained to them, as Freya cried in her wife’s arms and Rebekah destroyed things in another room. The rage and raw grief are clear in Kol’s voice despite his words Klaus knows he does blame Klaus a little, it is fair Klaus blames himself for it completely. “Our parents ruined Elijah, like mother did Finn, it's just none of us noticed until it was too late to fix.”
“How am I supposed to live with this?” He had choked, hands curling into fists but they weren't his hands, long elegant fingers better suited for piano keys than paint brushes.
“You have to, otherwise you'll be throwing away the last thing Elijah gave us.”
His hand reaches for the mirror and even knowing it just his reflection reaching back, a flare of traitorous hope burns because Elijah always comes when he needs him.
But he doesn’t anymore.
He can't.
The mirror surface is cold and the brown eyes that meet him aren’t warm and full of love but wet and full of pain and grief.
Grief that will never fade as every moment is a reminder of the stolen life, one he had never wanted to take.
Klaus wraps his- his brother’s- his arms around himself and refuses to let the tears fall, swallowing back the sobs.
He wants his big brother, he wants him to hold him.
This is all he has left.
—--
When the time comes there's no hesitation.
It's cruel, it's selfish, but Elijah knows himself and he can't risk Klaus convincing him.
There are no goodbyes, but he had killed himself years ago when he wiped his memories. Perhaps if he had done a better job then, done it properly, Hayley would be alive still, Hope would have her mother and he wouldn't be taking Klaus’ body with him.
The hand doesn't shake as it lifts the white Oak stake, he can feel the Hollow with him.
He lets himself look for a moment, hands he had once helped learn to shoot a bow, fingers he remembers crushing berries to make paint.
“I'm sorry.” He says but no one hears and he pushes the stake into his heart.
It hurts, it burns but he doesn't really feel it.
He was already dead.
There's a sound that calls his attention and he looks up. Through the flames consuming him he sees his own body, his face staring at him in horror.
He's gone before he can smile.
It’s selfish but he lets himself take comfort that he’s not alone.

Goldie Finkelstein was just 13 when she was sent to Wiener Graben, a work camp that later became a concentration camp. The youngster lost her entire family in the war, and among the things she never learned from them was how to cook. She had no family recipes and, according to her son, when she married Sol Finkelstein, also a Holocaust survivor, she didn’t know how to boil water or cook an egg.
Eventually, other survivors taught Goldie the necessary skills, and she was a quick learner. She soon became known for the copious amounts of baked goods she would provide for any occasion. Her recipes, some of which are included in the “Honey Cake and Latkes: Recipes from the Old World by the Auschwitz-Birkenau Survivors” cookbook, include cake mixes and other ingredients that wouldn’t have been used in pre-Holocaust Eastern Europe. Her whiskey cake, for example, calls for both yellow cake mix and vanilla pudding mix.
Goldie’s experience illustrates the ways in which recipes, including those we think of as quintessentially Ashkenazi Jewish, have changed over the years. Survivors lost the ancestors who passed along oral recipes. Families’ personal artifacts, such as handwritten recipes, were abandoned when Jews were forced to flee.
Most significantly, perhaps, after the war, survivors had access to different ingredients in their new homes. Sometimes that was due to seasonality, such as was the case for those who moved from Eastern Europe to Israel and had access to more fruits and vegetables year-round, including dates and pomegranates. Other times, it reflected changing tastes or newfound wealth — liver soup, pates with liver and offal were classic Eastern European dishes in the early 1900s, when there was an intention to use every part of the animal, but became increasingly uncommon. In other cases, like Goldie’s, packaged goods replaced homemade. Another survivor whose recipes appear in “Honey Cake and Latkes,”Lea Roth, detailed making noodles for Passover from the starch leftover at the bottom of a bowl after grating potatoes before the war. After the war, most people added “noodles” to the grocery list.
“Some of these recipes changed because of New World versus Old World,” explains Jeffrey Yoskowitz, author of “The Gefilte Manifesto: New Recipes for Old World Jewish Foods.” Yoskowitz and his co-author Liz Alpern work not to replicate pre-war Ashkenazi Jewish recipes, but to reclaim and modernize them. To do that, they’ve had to examine the ways in which recipes have changed.
In the Old World, for instance, almost every recipe called for breadcrumbs. At Passover, the leftover crumbs from the matzah were used to make matzah balls, leaving nothing to waste. But when immigrants in the U.S. could use Manischewitz pre-made matzah meal, then recipes started calling for it to make matzah balls.Today’s recipes for kugels with cream cheese, cottage cheese and sour cream would not have been made in the Old World, where dairy products were expensive. Again, ubiquitous cows in the New World made that “celebration of dairy” possible, Yoskowitz says.
At first, recipes may not seem like the most essential thing to recover from Holocaust survivors, but they paint a picture of what life was like before the war. It is essential to see the Jewish experience as one that is not solely as victims, and learning what people ate and cooked is part of that.
“Bringing back recipes can help bring people back to life,” says Edna Friedberg, a historian and senior curator with the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum. “In particular, it was women who were in the kitchen in this period, and so this is a way to make the lives of women very vivid and real for people.”
The idea is not to romanticize Eastern Europe, says Maria Zalewska, executive director of the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial Foundation, which published “Honey Cake and Latkes,” but to see the memories connected to togetherness, like picking fruit toward the end of the summer and using that fruit in a recipe, such as cold cherry soup with egg-white dumplings.
In addition, examining recipes gives us a sense of what role cooking and food played in trauma processing, Zalewska says. “Remembering the foods and the food traditions of their lives before imprisonment were some of the ways that survivors coped with starvation,” Zalewska adds. These are things that survivors say they are not often asked about, but when asked they report remembering dreaming about food during incarceration.
“We have quite a number of testimonies, where survivors talk about being in situations of starvation, and food deprivation and ghettos and camps and in hiding, and that dreaming about and remembering food from before gave them emotional sustenance,” explains Friedberg.
Exploring such memories have been meaningful for those survivors who were young when they lost their families.
New Orleans’ Chef Alon Shaya has been working for several years to recreate recipes from a book belonging to the family of Steven Fenves, a survivor and a volunteer for the museum. The book was rescued by the family cook, Maris, when the family was forced to flee their home on the Yugoslavia-Hungary border in 1944. The recipes are largely written without measurements, times or temperatures, and many of the ingredients are different from those used today. (Like the Fenves family, Goldie’s son, Joseph Finkelstein, says his mother wasn’t big on using measurements as we think of them in recipes today. She knew the quantity of an ingredient, for example, if it would fit in her palm.) Unlike Yoskowitz, who is looking to update recipes, Shaya has been working to replicate them as closely as possible — and has come across a few surprises.
Many of the desserts use a lot of walnuts, for example, which, of course, are also used in contemporary baking. But Shaya is using what he says are “copious amounts of walnuts” in various ways, such as grilled walnuts and toasted walnuts. The Fenves family walnut cream cake, which includes both walnuts ground in the batter and in a cream in-between the cake layers, has featured on the menu at one of Shaya’s restaurants, Safta, in Denver.
For all the recreation, and Shaya’s goal to bring the tastes of his youth back to Fenves, he says “it is impossible that a recipe in New Orleans would be the same as one in Bulgaria. The seasons are different, what animals are butchered are different, and the spices taste different.”
Indeed, place matters, Yoskowitz says. Ashkenazi food has a reputation of being terrible, he says. Take mushroom soup, for example. “There is no good mushroom soup in a deli. It is made with mushrooms that don’t have much flavor. But if you have it somewhere made with mushrooms grown in the forest, then that is going to be good soup.”
Many Holocaust survivors settled in new lands with new ingredients, and little memory of how things were made before the war. They knew they used to eat mushroom soup but didn’t specifically remember the forest-grown and harvested fungi. So, dishes morphed depending on what survivors had in their new home. In Eastern Europe, veal was plentiful, but in the U.S. and Israel, schnitzel began being made with chicken instead (a process Yoskowitz calls the “chickentization” of cuisine). And the beloved Jewish pastrami on rye? The pastrami would have traditionally been made with kosher goose or lamb. It wasn’t until Jews came to the U.S. that beef was easily accessible.
The same is true of what is likely the most iconic Jewish American dish. “Bagel and lox are what we think of as the most Jewish food. But the only thing that came over was the cured and smoked fish,” Yoskowitz says. “Cream cheese was a New York state invention. Capers were Italians. It was a completely new creation, and it became a taste associated with Jewish people.”
One of the most poignant recipes in the “Honey Cake and Latkes” book is a chocolate sandwich, a basic concoction of black bread, butter and shaved dark chocolate. Survivor Eugene Ginter remembers his mother making it for him in Germany after the war, to fatten him up after years of starvation.
Adds Shaya: “We have to continue to adapt, and I think that that is part of the beauty of it.”

Vanillians

Vanillian is the term for Cookies that are from/originated from the Vanilla Kingdom (created by Pure Vanilla Cookie & White Lily Cookie), located in Western Crispia, floating in the sky. Vanillian's ingredients are things such as dairies, creams, wafers, and, of course, vanilla. Though, the kingdom is also very diverse and honestly can just contain lots of fruits and European foods, such as Strawberry Crepe Cookie and Black Raisin Cookie. It's also implied to have cookies based on flowers too, however, we aren't fully sure bcuz little is known about the Vanillians of the past. Currently, most of the Vanillians were wiped out in the Dark Flour War around 60-70 years ago, with the few survivors fleeing and creating the Créme Republic.
Right now, Pure Vanilla Cookie (he's immortal which is how he's still alive) made the kingdom a safe haven for cookies seeking refuge, so it attracts cookies from all over.
The Vanillians were known for the healing magic and advanced technology, creating things like Waffle Bots. They were also known to be a very peaceful society.
Irl inspiration came from places like Germany, Sweden, and the Netherlands.
Cookies of Vanillian Descent
(Note that just bcuz they're descended from a place doesn't mean they're directly from there. My human form is descended from Weat-Africa (place you cookies never heard of), but I've literally never been there in my life. But, I'm descended from there still)

If you asked AGSZC and Kunsel, What do Hojo and Sephiroth have in common?
Sephiroth: "We both exist, which is already one too many."
Zack: That specific laugh that makes everyone in a five-mile radius deeply uncomfortable. Sephiroth's laugh when he finds something amusing is the same one Hojo makes while watching a failed experiment. Zack didn't sleep for three days when he realized it. Both also have this way of making perfectly normal sentences sound like death threats. Sephiroth once thanked Zack for holding an elevator and Zack cried himself to sleep that night.
Genesis: He realized that they both have an extraordinary talent for turning innocent situations into psychological torture. One time, Genesis offered Sephiroth some warm milk and received a 20-minute dissertation on the precise temperature at which dairy becomes lethal. With citations. This happens frequently.
Genesis: Would you like some honey? Sephiroth: Did you know honey is essentially bee vomit? They ingest nectar, partially digest it, then regurgitate it into the hive. Genesis: That's vile. Go complete a coloring book.
Angeal: He thinks they're both monumentally stubborn, though in different ways. Hojo refuses to acknowledge basic human rights, while Sephiroth refuses to acknowledge basic human needs like sleep and food that isn't coffee and convenience meals. At least Sephiroth is adorable and Angeal can feed him.
Post-Nibelheim Cloud: "They're both bastards."
Kunsel: He has a whole email list that shows why he thinks Hojo and Sephiroth have nothing in common.
URGENT EMAIL SUBJECT: The Truth About Sephiroth's Parentage Fellow truth-seekers, I have it on good authority (a mysterious source who only communicates through cryptic messages from the village of Nibelheim) that Hojo isn't Sephiroth's real father. I mean, have you seen Sephiroth? He's so nice! There's no way he's Hojo's kid. P.S.: Genesis would like everyone to know that he's still accepting members for his "Survivors of Concerning Sephiroth Conversations" support group. They meet every Wednesday and yes, there is complimentary dumbapple juice.

Zombie Apocalypse/World War Z AU
Rapunzel Corona
Rapunzel is the most knowledgeable about medicine and pathology among the survivors. Before the virus outbreak, she was a clinical intern at the San Francisco School of Medicine. Initially, after the outbreak, she was determined not to play the hero. However, after witnessing countless innocent lives perish before her eyes, she decided to uphold the Hippocratic Oath. From that point on, she vowed to help anyone she could save. While she appears full of survival instinct and often encourages others to keep going, deep down, she has long been prepared to face death calmly. Rapunzel embarks on this journey to reach Chicago, where she hopes to find an old friend of her mentor, Dr. Gothel, and uncover the origin of the outbreak by identifying patient zero.
Rapunzel’s First Day
On the first day of the outbreak, Rapunzel witnessed chaos at the hospital. She saw medical staff hurriedly wheeling patients out of the elevator, their faces pale with fear. Passing through the crowd, she caught a glimpse of the grotesque appearance of a patient, the strong scent of blood making her stomach churn. While taking the elevator to leave, she saw the same patient violently attack the doctors. Thankfully, the elevator doors closed just in time, sparing her.
Back in the lobby, Rapunzel struggled to process what she had just seen. The hospital still appeared normal, but she recalled her mentor, Dr. Gothel, mentioning a contagious disease that had recently surfaced in Panama. While running to the attending physician’s office, Gothel appeared, urging her to leave immediately. She handed Rapunzel her notebook, explaining that the disease had already reached California and was spreading rapidly. Suddenly, an ambulance crashed through the hospital’s glass walls, causing widespread panic. Gothel told Rapunzel to leave California and go to the address recorded in the notebook to find her.
As zombies overran the hospital, Rapunzel was saved by her EMT colleague, Cassandra, who helped her fend off the undead. The two managed to escape the hospital in a car. Though they initially planned to stick together, Cassandra was attacked by zombies shortly after their escape. Realizing her imminent death, Cassandra sacrificed herself to protect Rapunzel. Devastated, Rapunzel drove into a deserted countryside where she finally allowed herself to grieve. Wiping her tears, she began planning her next steps for survival.
Encounter
On the fifth day after the outbreak in San Francisco, Rapunzel encountered Jack sitting on a highway fence, smoking a cigarette. Covered in blood, he looked infected at first glance. Initially planning to ignore him, she remembered Cassandra’s help and her own oath as a doctor, eventually deciding to stop and ask if he needed a ride.
Items/Weapons
• Medical Kit: Contains disinfectants, iodine, bandages, antibiotics, sedatives, etc., scavenged from a pharmacy.
• Frying Pan: Her signature weapon. Unskilled with firearms and warned about their recoil by Jack, she once saved herself with this pan and gradually became proficient with it.
• Notebook: Dr. Gothel’s pathology notes, containing information about the virus and theories about potential sources. It also includes the Chicago address of Gothel’s old friend.
• Axe: A relatively effective weapon after learning zombies’ weak points.
Jackson (Jack) Overland Frost
Jack is the melee combat expert among the survivors. After graduating high school, he served in the military for a year, giving him strong physical and reflexive abilities. Before the outbreak, he was just an ordinary boy working part-time at a Dairy Queen. As the virus spread, Jack quickly learned how to fight off zombies and, for a time, even found a grim sense of enjoyment in the violence. Initially, he planned to exploit Rapunzel’s kindness to take her supplies, deeming her idealism naive in this cruel world. However, her repeated acts of kindness and her story eventually led him to trust her and believe in her theories. Over time, his personality began to revert to its original state, and he started trusting her. Jack’s goal is to reach Washington, D.C., where he hopes to reunite with his former commanding officer, North. Believing North, who once worked at Homeland Security, might have a solution to the outbreak, Jack is determined to find him.
Jack’s First Day
On the first day of the outbreak, Jack was on his way to pick up his younger sister, Emma, from school. Noticing panicked parents rushing to take their children home, he felt an ominous sense of dread. Taking Emma, he hurried back home, witnessing people fleeing in terror and infected individuals attacking others. The chaos triggered Emma’s asthma, but Jack couldn’t find her inhaler. He drove to a pharmacy, where people were looting supplies in a frenzy. Grabbing essentials, he and Emma fled the scene.
Back home, Jack thought they could escape with their parents, only to discover his mother had already been infected by a neighbor. She attacked him and Emma, forcing Jack to grab a handgun from a drawer and shoot her. Only later did he realize she was no longer his mother. Emma, frozen in shock, revealed a bite on her wrist. Tearfully, she begged Jack to end her life before she turned into one of them. Overwhelmed with grief, Jack carried out her final wish and vowed to survive in her honor.
Encounter
A week after the outbreak, Jack ran out of bullets. His car, damaged during previous attacks, broke down on the highway. With no will to live, he sat on the roadside fence, smoking and waiting for the end. Hearing a car stop, he looked up to see a young blonde woman asking if he needed a ride.
Items/Weapons
• M1911: A handgun from his parents’ bedroom, used to kill his infected mother and sister. It played a key role in his early survival.
• .45 ACP: A handgun obtained from a gun shop during his journey with Rapunzel, which he now carries at all times.
• Shotgun: A weapon stored in his car, frequently used in battles.
• Gold Necklace: Originally Emma’s, containing family photos. After her death, Jack has worn it constantly.
Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III
Hiccup is the brains of the survivor squad. Before the virus outbreak, he was a university student in Los Angeles. During his freshman year, he was hazed by a fraternity, which led him to successfully hack into all their members’ computers as revenge. Before the outbreak, he was quiet and reserved, but the absurdity of the situation turned him into a chatterbox. His destination during the escape is Minnesota, having heard it’s a peaceful place to retire.
Hiccup’s First Day
It all began when Hiccup was on his way back to his dorm. He noticed several helicopters flying overhead and an accident at a nearby intersection, with police and ambulance sirens blaring. Growing uneasy, he quickened his pace. In the park ahead, he saw someone being attacked, and though he didn’t want to believe it, he realized he was witnessing a scene of cannibalism. Glancing back, he saw people at the intersection abandoning their cars and fleeing in panic. Without knowing what they were running from, Hiccup instinctively joined them. Turning his head, he saw someone emerging from a nearby restaurant being chased and bitten by a grotesque figure. This horrifying sight prompted Hiccup to count how long it took for the bitten person to transform—it was just fifteen seconds.
As more and more infected appeared, Hiccup fled into a dark alley, where he desperately pried open a manhole cover and climbed into the sewers, narrowly escaping death.
During his escape, Hiccup encountered a stray black cat with only one ear. He initially wanted to name it “One Ear,” but the cat clearly disliked the name. The cat stared intently at Hiccup while he ate, and though he first mistook it for a zombie, he relaxed upon realizing it was just a hungry animal. He shared some food with it, but whenever he tried to touch the cat, it reacted with hostility. Once, it even bit his hand with its still-growing teeth. Hiccup didn’t resist and let the cat vent, which led to the cat eventually following him everywhere. Though he initially wanted nothing to do with the cat, Hiccup found himself saving it from a horde of zombies. Later, when he injured his leg and thought he was doomed, he told the cat he would never eat it and urged it to leave him behind. However, the cat refused to abandon him. Realizing his wound was just a scratch from metal debris, Hiccup named the cat “Toothless” and decided to find a home for both of them.
Encounter
Hiccup and Toothless were eking out a living in a supermarket on the outskirts of town. On the sixth day of the outbreak, Hiccup woke to the sound of movement. Gripping a baseball bat, he cautiously approached the pharmacy aisle, where he saw golden hair trailing on the floor. Following the hair, he found Rapunzel scavenging for medical supplies. Startled by the noise, Rapunzel grabbed a frying pan and faced him defensively. Jack, hearing the commotion, quickly located them. After confirming everyone was human, Jack relaxed but remained vigilant, questioning Hiccup about the wound on his leg. Hiccup assured him that if he had been bitten, he would have turned already.
Seeing signs of infection, Rapunzel gave Hiccup antibiotics. Since Minnesota and Chicago were on the same route, she decided to bring Hiccup along to prevent his injury from worsening.
Weapons and Equipment
• Baseball Bat: Originally his roommate’s, it was Hiccup’s first weapon but proved ineffective, forcing him to rely on hiding during the first week.
• Spiked Club: A homemade weapon made by driving nails into a wooden bat.
• Fire Crossbow: A self-made crossbow modified to light its bolts with alcohol, enabling effective ranged attacks.
• Glock 19: Hiccup’s backup weapon, meant for either defense or ending his own life if necessary.
• Prosthetic Leg: After losing his leg in the Chicago incident, Hiccup crafted a prosthetic limb using available tools. With Rapunzel’s help, he adapted to it and eventually regained his ability to walk and run.
Merida DunBroch
Merida is the survivor squad’s long-range support. Before the outbreak, she worked as a horse-riding instructor at a Southern California ranch owned by her father’s old friend, MacGuffin. As a Scot, she would often revert to a thick accent or use slang when agitated, which her clients couldn’t understand. Hoping to reunite with her family in Virginia, she began her journey. Another goal was to retrieve her father’s firearms, stored in a hidden armory near their family farm, to better protect her loved ones.
Merida’s First Day
Merida was leisurely riding her beloved horse, Angus, across a plain when they neared the forest. Angus suddenly stopped, uneasy. Sensing something was wrong, Merida returned to the stables, noticing the other animals behaving restlessly as well.
Shortly after, she received a call from her mother, urging her to lock the doors and windows, mentioning that rabies outbreaks from East Asia had reached the U.S. The call became choppy, and several helicopters flew overhead. Her mother’s final words before the line cut off were to get home immediately.
Merida stopped by MacGuffin’s mansion to find out more. His son pulled her aside, saying his father was acting strangely, and asked her to wait in the living room. Moments later, she heard glass shattering and a struggle upstairs. Investigating, she was attacked by a rabid MacGuffin and his son. Grabbing a decorative sword, Merida defended herself. Guards burst in to help but were quickly overwhelmed and infected. Realizing the infected could only be killed by destroying their brains, Merida used a crossbow from the estate’s armory to put down MacGuffin and his son.
Returning to her ranch, Merida found Angus had fled but eventually reunited with him. Her attempts to warn neighbors were met with fear or disbelief, with one person even stealing her gun and ammunition. Cornered by zombies, Merida watched Angus distract the horde, giving her a chance to escape in MacGuffin’s car.
Encounter
Ten days after the outbreak, WHO declared a global crisis. Jack, Rapunzel, and Hiccup took shelter in a Beverly Hills mansion. While exploring, Rapunzel admired a painting when an arrow narrowly missed her, embedding itself in the artwork. Turning, she saw a red-haired girl aiming a bow at her. Jack, alerted by Rapunzel’s scream, pointed his gun at Merida, who claimed she had staked her claim on the house.
The standoff ended when Merida was startled by Toothless. Jack wanted to tie her up as a precaution, but Rapunzel later brought her food and a blanket, suggesting she join the group. Merida escaped that night, warning Rapunzel that kindness could be deadly in times like these. However, when zombies attacked the mansion, Merida returned and used her crossbow to save Hiccup, ultimately helping the group escape.
Weapons and Equipment
• Metal Bow and Arrows: Merida’s personal weapon, highly accurate and effective in close combat when necessary.
• Crossbow: Taken from the MacGuffin estate, it became her primary weapon.
• Carbine Rifle: Lightweight and effective for medium-range combat, often used to cover Jack’s blind spots.
• Shotgun: A last resort, cumbersome but reliable.
Plot Outline: Virginia → Chicago
After a long journey, the four finally arrived in Virginia, only to find that the virus outbreak in the state was not as severe as in cities out west. Perhaps due to the vast rural landscape and lower population density, there were plenty of zombies, but the situation wasn’t as catastrophic as they had feared.
Merida quickly found her family home but discovered it in complete disarray. The windows and balcony glass were shattered, and the kitchen bore evidence of a violent struggle, with knives and bloodstains scattered around. After thoroughly searching the house and finding no sign of her family or their bodies, the group realized that the DunBroch family, apart from Merida, had likely perished. Merida silently stared at a shattered family photo lying on the ground for a long time. She then led the others to break into her father’s armory. Inside, they found most of the weapons intact, except for her father’s beloved Remington 700 rifle and MAC-10 submachine gun, which were missing. The group scavenged all useful items before continuing their journey to Chicago.
During the journey, Hiccup wrestled with whether to leave the group and take Toothless to Minnesota to build a home for themselves. While staying overnight in an abandoned hotel in the countryside, the group held a simple farewell ceremony for him. After drinking, a tipsy Merida and Jack even joked about tying Hiccup to the passenger seat of their car to prevent him from leaving. Once Merida and Jack had fallen asleep, Rapunzel, who was on night watch, handed Hiccup the address of her destination in Chicago and told him he was welcome to find them anytime if he changed his mind. That night, Toothless rested on Rapunzel’s lap, seemingly sensing the tension in the air.
The next morning, the group said their emotional goodbyes. Hiccup and Toothless set off for Minnesota, while the other three continued their journey to Chicago.
According to the notes they carried, Rapunzel’s late friend had mentioned someone with the codename “Pitch,” whose address pointed to Chicago City Hospital. The group fought their way into the hospital and found Pitch in a private room. Pitch explained that the hospital’s pathology lab contained blood samples from Patient Zero, the first documented case of the outbreak, and recounted the events of the outbreak’s first day in Chicago.
Believing that information about Patient Zero could help develop a cure, Rapunzel insisted on retrieving the blood samples. Jack and Merida initially dismissed her plan as reckless but ultimately decided to join her. Pitch, amused by their determination, agreed to help. He drew them a map of the hospital and marked the location of the pathology lab.
The three braved numerous obstacles to reach the lab, only to find its door secured by a fingerprint scanner. As panic set in, the door suddenly opened on its own. They quickly locked it behind them, keeping the zombies outside. Just as they were trying to figure out what had happened, the intercom inside the lab crackled to life—it was Hiccup’s voice. He and Toothless, after deciding to rejoin the group, had successfully infiltrated the hospital’s control room and hacked into its systems to assist them.
With the blood samples in hand, the group reunited with Hiccup in the control room and returned to Pitch’s room, only to find it overrun by zombies. Before they left, Pitch revealed that the safest place in the world was Jerusalem, which had prepared extensively for the outbreak even before it began. He mentioned a massive wall called “Limbo” that successfully kept the zombies out. Rapunzel urged Pitch to join them, but he refused, explaining that he had lost his daughter and no longer had the will to continue fighting. The group reluctantly left as the zombies poured in, and Rapunzel, glancing back for a brief moment, was shocked to see the zombies ignoring Pitch entirely.
As the group fled in their vehicle, zombies attacked before the door could close, and Hiccup was bitten on the lower leg. Once the car was secured, Jack immediately amputated Hiccup’s leg to prevent the infection from spreading. Rapunzel quickly wrapped his leg with a cloth to stop the bleeding while counting down the crucial 15 seconds. Merida placed the hilt of her sword in Hiccup’s mouth to prevent him from biting his tongue in pain. As the seconds passed, Jack, trembling, held a gun to Hiccup’s head, ready to end it if necessary. When the 15 seconds elapsed and Hiccup showed no signs of infection, the group breathed a sigh of relief. Rapunzel disinfected and bandaged his leg, while Jack, still shaken, muttered that perhaps Hiccup shouldn’t have come back. Hiccup, pale and weak, stroked Toothless and replied that he felt safer with them.
Shortly after, Jack managed to contact North, attempting to negotiate safe passage for the group. Sensing hesitation in North’s response, Jack revealed that they had blood samples from Patient Zero and that his experience in the field made him an asset. In exchange, he demanded transport to Jerusalem’s Limbo. After a brief pause, North agreed to contact them within an hour.
An hour later, North instructed them to meet his team at Cleveland’s Terminal Tower at sunrise.
Upon arriving in Cleveland, the group prepared for the final sprint, using thick magazines to reinforce their arms and legs and carrying all remaining weapons and supplies. At sunrise, they fought through a relentless horde of zombies toward the helicopter. Hiccup fired his flaming crossbow to signal their position to the pilots. During the battle, Merida accidentally ingested zombie blood, and once aboard the tower, she prepared to leap to her death if she showed signs of infection. Rapunzel, panicked, tried to stop her, but Merida refused, counting down 15 seconds with her eyes closed. When no infection occurred, she finally boarded the helicopter.
The group finally escaped and arrived within the walls of Limbo in Jerusalem. Rapunzel and the blood samples were handed over to surviving WHO virologists. Jack was assigned to the defense team protecting the walls, Hiccup and Toothless received further treatment for his amputation, and Merida, to her surprise, was reunited with her three younger brothers, who had survived.

hi ivy, congrats on 1k! 💕🎉 i was wondering if u have any hc's on how the mk system would take care of u when ur sick? currently dealing w strep myself & it sucks. hope this is okay if ur still doing these & that u have good day! 🩷
You're Not Alone
@suresnips Once upon a time you were sick and I left you there, with no Moon Boys to comfort you... Jake is gonna have words with me. Thank you so much for the congratulations, you are so sweet! Long overdue, but I never leave an ask unanswered
Word Count: 700 Content: sick you, mentions of food, domestic life, slight mentions of Marc's past, not beta'd
Marc has been on his own for years, and even when he was young, he had to fend for himself.
He knows how to take care of himself, having shivered through fevers in the roughest neighborhoods and parts of the world - sometimes on the run.
Believe it or not, Marc is the one who really doesn't want you to feel alone when you're sick. He doesn't always know what to say or do (he does, actually, but that's his self-loathing talking), but he'll sit with you.
Marc doesn't like the doctor - he was raised hiding things from professionals and he's conditioned to think they don't actually care, but since he doesn't want you to feel alone, he will always make sure he's there to wait with you.
He's traveled all over. He's a survivor and he's picked up all kinds of useful knowledge from his journeys.
Marc knows lots of little tricks, like how peppermint or lavender oil can be diluted and rubbed on your feet to bring down fever. He also knows oils and tinctures for all kinds of symptoms, such tightness or spasms from coughing, or simply to help you rest.
Since Marc doesn't know what to say sometimes, he will want to touch you. But occasionally, having a fever means you do not want to be touched - or at least not held.
This is why both of you find it so soothing when he rubs a balm into your chest or oils onto your feet. His dark eyes lock onto yours and you can see straight to his soul
Marc is steady and calm when you're sick. He doesn't want you to feel that what is wrong with you is your fault - you really feel loved and supported, even when you have "just a cold."
Steven is a caring, observant person: cordial to those who dismiss him, professional to rude bosses, sympathetic to friends and mindful and proud of the places he occupies
He even talks to Gus and makes sure he has everything he needs.
So he is going to notice the second you're feeling off.
"Getting sick, aren't you, love?"
"What? No, I'm just tired."
By that evening, you're burning with a fever.
Steven ushers you to bed, letting you know he stopped by the store on the way home. He is prepared.
Steven knows which tea will soothe your throat or settle your stomach. He understands just the right amount of honey or lemon you need, and how long to steep the tea leaves.
Even if you don't prefer tea, he knows how to make it taste good enough to warm you up or settle you.
Steven is vegan so he knows how to substitute ingredients or some interesting places to order takeaway. He'll encourage you to steer away from foods that will only exacerbate your symptoms, like fried foods or too much dairy.
He loves to take care of you, dote on you, bring you trays of things, prop up your head with an extra pillow.
He'll place a washcloth over your forehead and cover you with an extra blanket while you suffer.
He'll read you to sleep if you like, but he will miss you so much while you're down and out.
He's an exuberant puppy when you're better.
Jake helps you get things done.
You're out of it for a few days or a week? All good - bills are paid (if you share them), laundry is done.
Don't feel like calling out of work or making doctor's appointments? Jake takes care of it. You're not to be bothered.
He's going to help you zone out.
He'll make you smile, play your favorite record, watch movies with you on the couch.
He's gonna sneak you junk food, tbh. Steven's teas and soups are so wonderful, but after a few days, there's just that one food you want because you're kinda feeling sorry for yourself?
That's Jake. Snacks and movies and lightening the mood.
And - it's Jake Lockley. He's definitely going to try to feel you up during a movie. Once your fever breaks anyway.
“But I look awful,” you halfheartedly protest.
"Never, mi amor. Just relax."

¤ Goatman / Jeffrey Bonavita ¤
~~General Headcanons~~
my first time doing something like that._. /im thirsty for past month in case of his content, art is not enough!!
¡enjoy!
》he loved working at Hawthorne Exotic Zoo from the stars, eaven before that for sure found stray dog and/or cat as his friends.
》At the beginning of that 'job' had issues with bigger animals during feeding time. Being cornered with a bucket of fish by few bears or tiped over by lions to take steaks just to fight for it among themselves.
》Huge, maybe not super tall, but he's visibly hunged, due to his problem with knook-knee and added weight of big horns, and space in the cage.
》 strong enough to lift a bear or two, did so in the past for sure.
》always wanted to go see the circus, but was threatened by Mr.G that they'll hurt him.
》when he was a bit older, would sneek out at night when Mr.Gardener was asleep, to see the performance at the Hullabaloo Circus.
》he has a dairy with each animal that was in the zoo, theyr own names, preferences, dislikes, specific way of acting and markings to ease recognision, probably gave it few times to his boss, who didn't had much use for it in the end ,and gave role of Beast Tamer to Jeffrey.
》i belive he likes to draw animals, so the notebook had to include some tiny sketchof of them.
》with time, as he helped around the zoo, he grew closer to animals than his caretaker, with resulted in seeing them as his real family and he was the one who needs to take care of them, He was just giveing them a place to be.
》 didn't had much experience with humans, observation was all he did, untill the "meet and great" era, where he lead guests to interact with animals under his guide, teaching mostly younger kids, how to imitate sounds and comunicate with sayd species.
》taught monkey capuchins and lemurs to fetch stuff for him, at the start it would be something simple like a pen, dairy, bag of snack; that would be handet half empty for some reason and keys.
》personally striked Mr.Gardener to dust, for everything he did to him and his 'family'
》Jeffrey is.. people say he's horrendous. But he wasnt always this way. was treated as one of the animals after longer period if being against Mr.Gardener's plans for the Zoo
》He loses control over himself at violet moon (werewolf stye would say). It is rare situation, once in two years, with could be reason of him being chained in the cage durning blue moons phases.
》durning that time, most shows woud be canceled, due too incressed agresion of all animals, including him. Zoned out, acting agresive toward his boss, resulting in being caged together with bigger critters.
》schackles on his wrist, head and ankle are a reminder of what happened, he lost his only family, yet it was a prison. Now, everyone from there is free.. expect him stuck at the mannor now.
》Jeffrey has PTSD, due to everything that happened, he's scared of closed off spaces. pretty ironic looking at his skills, but it triggers "fight or flight" in him. He once again trapped in a cage, having that boiling felling inside.. he needs to strike harder to get freed
》feeds local critters together with Bane at daily basics.
》definitely bff with Morro, both being keept in closure in the past, and haveing animal friends.
》befrends anyone in the manor who likes animals, no matter if they are hunter or survivor. He enjoys sharing his hobby with others.
》for sure has some Cat Lovers club activities on hunters side with Ann and Alva.
》never saw sooo huge Lizard, woud mistake Luchino at first for a comodo dragon in human clothes, will get stared at in disgust. but later happily will listen about all kinds of reptiles from both Professors and Reptilian and would share some of his experiences with haired animals at the zoo, to them.
》when he sees cat's scattered around the map during a match, Jeffrey's sure to give every single one a scratch if he sees one. Durnign chase, after downing survs, woud turn back to spot he saw one and pet it, then later chair his pray.
》Man plays on pan's flute, surely likes to do so in mannors garden, if noticed may apologize for disturbing who found him and move to different spot, he was main performer in Hawthorne Zoo, it is not stage fright.
》 if it's Antonio who noticed him, he will complement the melody and tr to recreate it on his violin. Ifit'ss Frederick.. he's definitely going to call out how bad the notes sound, and he would do it better, making Jeff simply stare at him coldly and walk away without a word. Until the next match..
》if you ask him to stay, he'll asks you if ther are any requests for him to play on the instrument.
_________________________________________
~Jeffrey simps ¤ Including Reader~
》 sometimes when you call him, instead of 'what is it?' or 'yes?' You get 'baah' or 'rawr' in responce. Embarrassed about it a bit, not letting you notice, but his ears turn slightly red and start to twitch.
》 not used to physical tough from a human.. but after some time he would not let you go. Could say he's a big cat, with horns ofcorse! you are traped in his grip, until he says so.
》 he has horns as we know, so prepare for some headbutts. Rare but not non-existing urge to smack something with his horns, may be reason he's hiting them with his hand so offten.
》seeing him without the uniform? Oh boy, hes covered in scars on his back. He doesn't like them, but you say they are beautiful and show how much he went through. Bonus: if you try to trace them, he shiverss slightly.
》 instead of kisses would simply rub noses together or his face against yours.
》loves going on night walks with you watching stars, listening to nature surrounding you both, that's what he always wished for; freedom.
If no one got my people, i got them! can we get an amen?

another obvious reason why kyle rips on cartman for being fat all the time

ok so like the past couple days i've been trying to read more and learn more about judaism (bc i'm a nerd). even tho i'm an ashkenazi jew i've never known that much about judaism the religion outside of being jewish by race/ethnicity FHDJSJSK. and yes for the ignorant people out there who don't know there's a HUGE difference between between practicing judaism and just being jewish bc yeah i hate it when people assume bc of my jewish background that i'm super religious like bitch i was raised by ATHEISTS. even my gma the holocaust survivor didn't believe in god which goes to show the holocaust was abt targeting jews as a race not a religion but i don't need to get into all of that rn. ok let's move on to shitting on kyle, the part ya'll RLLY care about. so i think a BIG reason why kyle shits on cartman for being fat sm is bc HE HAS TO EAT KOSHER DUH (which was confirmed in the episode "ginger kids" when kyle said his mom packed him a kosher lunch) which i can't believe i never realized before lol. some other things i've theorized on in the past is how kyle is just taking out his anger abt his fat obnoxious mom onto cartman for being fat and obnoxious. bc yeah obviously kyle can't backsass his mom but he can backsass cartman all he wants bc he's an easier target LOL. i've also theorized that kyle has an eating disorder so he's just projecting all of his negative views about his body and food onto cartman. but the problem may not be abt kyle not wanting to eat.....it could be the complete opposite in that he WISHES he can eat whatever he wants. and after looking into what exactly kosher is....yeah it's understandable why kyle is so miserable LOL. i'm not trying to shit on you if you're jewish and you eat kosher like i'm all about trying different diets i think that's rlly cool, but it's understandable that it would be hard for a kid to do that bc kids loveeee eating junk food and whatever they want all the time. and it's ESPECIALLY hard for a jewish kid if he/she is the only one eating like that while all of his/her peers get to eat whatever. but yeah if u rlly look into the nitty gritty of it, kosher eating jews are NOT ALLOWED TO EAT PORK. so this means kyle has prob never been allowed to eat shit like bacon or hot dogs in his entire life TSHDHSKS. they're also not allowed to have any other meats UNLESS it was prepared and butchered a certain way. so i can imagine kyle wouldn't be allowed to eat a lot of the foods with meat they serve at school. AND ALSO they're not allowed to eat milk and meat together at the same time and this goes for anything with milk in it such as butter or cheese which means kyle isn't even allowed to eat cheeseburgers LOL. so in kosher u would either have to eat a meal that is mostly just milk/dairy products or one that's mostly meat. so yeah when you put all of that into context it makes A LOT of sense why kyle gets so grumpy over cartman being fat and why he's soooooo critical over his eating choices. he's prob just jealous that cartman gets to enjoy food and eat whatever the fuck he wants all the time and he doesn't.

Amongst a group of a queen, a powerful bishop, a skilled spy and a to be chief, only Colin Provolone, a Dairy Island runaway, really escaped Saprophus.
He whose secret forced him to escape his homeland, stay undercover, speak nothing, want nothing. He whose morality throws his sword at the feet of his good friend, a devotion severed by the burden of death, and to think that war was all he was good for.
And yet, he makes it out of the rot-filled cave. He saves Deli, half-dead, his body lying still at the mouth of the cave, and still half-dead as he walks over the horizon, never seen again. He protected Amangeaux, one who is forever indebted, her regret buried a thousand miles down a cave non-existent, a life owed to a memory of those lost and now lies dead beneath their feet.
Colin Provolone begins this journey a sword and shield. He protects and devotes and craves belonging. His allies are bloodied and shattered and their purpose lies dead, forgotten to war and revenge, names erased to the world they so desperately etched their nails into.
Yet Colin Provolone survives with a purpose so driven. He is a quiet survivor, a noble protector. He remembers his allies, their hubris, their desperation. He swings his sword so that this world may know peace a little longer, that the war may have served a greater good, that the blood spilled may have been worth it.
In nobility, in morality, in wit and in war, Provolone survives the manipulation, the secrets and the ravening war with greater purpose than he started with and more gained than lost.
Knight takes King.
#dimension 20#d20 analysis#come on povolone!#and he is really the only one that makes it out of that rotten cave#Colin is the only one who comes out whole#the ravening war#thinking about how the name truely fits how hungry people are for power and control during this series#it makes sense that Colin with little to loose than friendship is the one to come out of this alive#he doesn’t want power or to climb ranks#he just wants a friend#plu’s d20 rambles

Hi I’m basing headcannons on nothing guy I heard you base headcannons on nothing AND I WANT TO HEAR THEM!!! NOW!!! GIMMIE YOUR FORSAKEN HEADCANNONS !!! ANY WILL DO 🫵🫵🫵🫵🫵‼️‼️‼️‼️ /nf /silly
:3c
Survivors
Elliot is a menace. Absolute piece of shit. He lost his ability to gaf YEARS ago. The only thing holding him back was his job requirements
The only reason he doesn't gobble up all his pizza like a madman is bc of gluten intolerance and dairy allergy
He once screamed at Chance for a solid minute before aggressively healing him back to full
This may or may not be based off how I play Elliot
Taph lowkey has a crush on Builderman except it's not lowkey literally everyone knows it
Except Builderman
Dusekkar is the only one that OFFICIALLY knows. They think she could do better /silly
TPAH AND DUSEKKAR <333 They share a room together and managed to convince Builderman to make them a bunkbed
Dusekkar is top bunk because Taph will fall off the bed
Chance loads blanks into his gun because he's stupid /aff
Admitting this to Elliot while the other was angry at him was not a good idea
:3
Rolls a dice to see how long he should cook stuff for/how much stuff to add
Banned from the kitchen
So is Elliot tbh
Guest 1337 is in a polycule with Daisy and Matt
I struggled over who I liked with him better until I realized he has two hands
He still thinks Matt is dead and mourns that a ton, along with not being there for his daughter and wife
I heard one-sided Chance/Azure was a thing and then got retconned but FUCK CANON I DO WHAT I WANT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Chance wants Azure so badd
Two Time agrees
Azure hates them both but his hatred for Chance is new and fresh and his hatred for Two Time is deeply personal so it evens out
007n7 retired from hacking shortly after adopting c00lkidd
c00l gui stuff was just c00lkidd being a menace there after
007n7 made sure it never hurt anyone too much tho
His favorite pizza flavor is PINEAPPLE the FREAK /j
it's a major reason Elliot hates him sm /silly
Survivor’s Cabin:
(Other furniture can be added/taken away)
(Don't listen to the numbers I'm bad at them </3)
It's two survivors to a room, the order goes as follows:
Shedletsky & Builderman
Taph & Dusekkar
Elliot & Two Time
Noob & 007n7
Guest & Chance
They all take turns doing chores. Builderman made a list
Noob likes to cook and is GOOD at it too
Taph can only do trash duty because she is not allowed near the kitchen and managed to make an explosive from a broom and mop bucket
She likes disposing of it (💥💥💥) anyway so it's all good
Sundays are “fend for yourself” days.
no chores, everyone makes their own food, etc etc
Killers (not much here </3)
1x likes chicken and it weighs on him heavily.
Eggs are a good substitute
In fact anything that reminds him of Shedletsky
Whenever another killer compares him to Shedletsky he just sighs heavily and sulks in his room for the next hour or so
When 1x4 does his hair he gains +100 confidence
hence where all the quips come from w/ Betrayed 1x
He says them in his head he just only chooses to speak when he gets more confidence to
I like to think those rounds where killers are afk/don't do anything happen in canon too
Pretty rare
Sometimes you don't have the energy for jack shit
Spectre always throws a hissy fit tho
Guest 666 and Guest 1337 have pleasant conversation during these times :3
1x4 takes care of c00lkidd
In a bad and good way
He's teaching the child life skillz AND how to behead your enemies effectively
Doe is the uncle that bought you illegal fireworks
Azure is the gay cousin that refuses to talk to anyone at family gatherings
Guest 666 is the cat.
And then, of course, obligatory queer headcanons 💥💥✨✨
Elliot - He/him, bi :33
Chance - He/they, pan
Taph - She/her/💥/💣, unlabeled
Builderman - he/it, gay
Shedletsky - he/him, bi

Dbd Hc’s | Killers Least Fav Food.
(TW: Eating Disorders)
Evan MacMillan
Chicken a la King.
Looks like baby spit up.
His father LOVED it so was sadly served most nights.
Too much going on for his palette.
Philip Ojomo
Rueben Sandwich
Gives me very bad breath.
Also has a hard time thinking sandwich’s can he hot.
Overall, too messy and stinky.
Max Thompson Jr.
Bacon.
Hates crispy bacon especially.
Eating farm animals he watched grow up put a bad taste in his mouth.
The grease left on the pan makes his skin crawl.
Sally Smithson
Porridge.
Hand fed a lot of unruly patients.
Most of it ended up spit back into her face or smeared on her.
The warm, wet texture disgusts her.
Micheal Myers
Mashed Potatoes
They always taste grainy to him
Especially despises the runny kind.
While he was locked up, it’s probably what he was served as a staple.
Lisa Sherwood
New England Style Clam Chowder.
Cannot fathom seafood and dairy together.
Physically unable to swallow it.
It will always taste rotten.
Herman Carter
Punch
The ones with sherbet blobs and marshmallows make his teeth hurt and feel chalky.
Probably hates it because he associates it with large, happy parties
Also assumes everyone dips their cup instead of a ladle.
Anna
Human meat.
Probably only did it ONCE out of desperation.
Quickly realized it was nothing special and felt weird.
Hunting humans is more about getting a trophy rather than nourishment.
Bubba Sawyer
Northern Cooking
In rural Texas, they didn’t eat much fresh seafood.
Thinks Northerns eat lobster 24/7 (I wish)
Tried canned lobster. Hated it because it was too sweet and chewy.
Freddy Krueger
Pepperoni.
“It’s too spicy.”
Thin gets too crispy and thick is gross.
Amanda Young
Peanut butter
Doesn’t like the closed throat feeling it gives her.
Gets genuinely upset when people “ruin” desserts with the spread.
Chocolate chip cookie-! “😍” -with Reese’s! “😐”
Jeffery Hawk
Vegtables
I am convinced he ate deep fried butter as a staple.
Will legit throw a tantrum if you offer him some.
MIGHT eat very flavorful veggies (collard greens with bacon.) but even then you’re asking a lot.
Rin Yamaoka
Bell Peppers
Cannot tolerate spice.
Always feels undercooked.
Hates the crunch. Thinks all veggies should be soft.
Frank, Julie, Susie, Joey
Salads
Only the lame, preppy kids eat salads with zero dressing 🤢🤮
They can’t understand why anyone would choose a gross, flavorless salad over pizza.
I think Susie would’ve enjoyed a good Caeser but the gang kinda guilted her into stopping.
Adiris
Hates the smell of Myrrh
Puts off her appetite immediately.
I’m not sure if you can eat Myrrh ( Nvm google says it’s toxic ☝️)
Was kept on a rather strict diet as a priestess so I don’t think she deviated much in terms of food.
Danny Johnson
Pizza
A lot of his victims were having a chill night in with a nice warm pie.
His mind did that weird thing when it associates one thing with another.
Don’t get him wrong, he lives for thrill and gore but trying to enjoy a greasy slice of pizza while picturing guts on the floor isn’t that appetizing.
Demogorgon
Human Hair
It clogs its mouth and makes it produces these weird hissing and gurgling sounds.
Constantly spits up hairballs.
Sometimes borks out a Survivors hat.
Kazan Yamaoka
Sake.
Believes in keeping a clear head, always.
Especially dislikes drinking games.
Drunk people in general make him aggravated.
Caleb Quinn
Peach Cobbler
Prefers apples over peaches
The texture and taste feels off.
Overall, doesn’t have much of a sweet tooth but begrudgingly picks at it with a cup of coffee.
Pyramid Head
Can’t really eat.
I’ll go with dust.
The general smell and feel is a bore.
Talbot Grimes
Curry.
Smelling spices alone makes his tummy turn.
His poor Scottish palette is sensitive to flavor 🏴😤😤
I think Curry in general puts him off because he’s not used to eating with his bare hands. (You use the naan to scoop it up I believe).
Charlotte and Victor Deshayes
Rotten food
Eats it anyway because it’s what they got
Mentioned before the Charlotte has a Hoarding disorder. Keeps said rotten food until it physically can not be eaten.
Charlotte definitely developed a ED. Refuses to eat until her brother has been fed.
Cry’s when her brother insists she eats. Why can’t he understand that she’s not hungry?
Ji-Woon Hak
Deep fried anything.
Not joking, a lot of K-Pop stars have eating disorders. Some even collapse on stage because of a lack of nourishment.
I think during his training, he developed an intense fear of carbs.
Genuinely believes eating one French fry will make him break out.
Got emotional when he did a ad for pasta.
Nemesis T-Type
Doesn’t eat???
I think it would’ve gotten its nourishment from medical tubes and injections when it was created
I’ll go with a IV drip.
It’s just….there.
Elliot Spencer
Too eat something he hates would make him miserable. But he likes being miserable which technically-
This is certainly a conundrum
Let’s think before he became a cenobite
Maybe…fish?
Has severe trust issues with not properly prepared fish. (Bones, scales, parasites 🤮🤮🤮.)
Carmina Mora
Pigs feet.
Thinks it’s inhumane.
Also Foie Gras
Would never eat food that’s made from devious means.
Sadako Yamamura
Mmmm

‘You are killing us’: Mariana survivors face ill health, lost culture and a long wait for justice
When a dam burst eight years ago in a Brazilian mining town, the toxic mud swept downriver, crushing all before it. Affected communities are still fighting in the courts – and mourning a way of life that has disappeared for ever
Marino D’Ângelo Júnior regularly takes antidepressants and medication to help him sleep. A former resident of Paracatu, a district of the city of Mariana in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais, the 54-year-old says he has lost his sense of self since 60m cubic metres of mining waste flattened his town, forcing him to live in a rented property near the centre of an environmental disaster that shocked the world eight years ago.
D’Ângelo is one of the survivors of the collapse of the Fundão tailings dam near Mariana. Almost a decade on, the people affected by Brazil’s worst environmental tragedy still await justice as they live under the shadow of the toxic mud that swept away life as they knew it.
“The collapse of a dam isn’t what you see on TV – the river of mud destroying things,” says D’Ângelo. “A dam failure entails an infinity of invisible ruptures. The rupture of connections, family links, communities, histories, dreams.”
D’Ângelo used to own a herd of 60 dairy cows before the incident but he began to sell them off as he found himself unable to work properly, which led to him being “forced into poverty”. A member of the Commission for People Affected by the Fundão Dam, D’Ângelo holds the mining companies responsible for the disaster and the subsequent neglect of the affected populations who still struggle with losing their livelihoods and way of life.
The dam – which was managed by Samarco, a joint venture between the Brazilian mining company Vale and the Anglo-Australian company BHP – collapsed on 5 November 2015, and caused mining waste to flow nearly 700km (430 miles) down the Rio Doce into the Atlantic Ocean, devastating everything in its path.
The torrent of toxic sludge buried villages, killed 19 people and left thousands more homeless. Nearly a decade later, hundreds of thousands of people continue to suffer the effects daily, in the contaminated soil unfit for agriculture, the diseased fish they catch in the polluted river, and the breakdown of their communities and cultural traditions.
No one has yet been held accountable for the socio-environmental disaster. BHP, Vale, Samarco and eight other defendants stand accused of environmental crimes in a Brazilian court case that has been dragging on for seven years. They are due to face a judge for questioning this month.
Separately, about 700,000 people are suing BHP in a UK court, seeking £36bn in reparations in English legal history’s most significant group claim. BHP denies liability.

Your guide to California policy and politics

By Lynn La
March 21, 2025
Presented by Sellers Dorsey, California Resources Corporation, UC Merced and Dairy Cares
Good morning, California.
Ricardo Lara explains trip to Bermuda was for insurance work

From CalMatters economy reporter Levi Sumagaysay:
When Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara testified about California’s property insurance market before the Assembly’s insurance committee this week, he mentioned a recent trip to Bermuda — somewhat defensively.
Lara attended the Bermuda Risk Summit, an insurance industry conference, last week. He gave a keynote address on March 11, the same day the Senate Insurance Committee held an oversight hearing that he missed. Michael Martinez, chief deputy commissioner, and Michael Peterson, deputy commissioner for climate and sustainability, represented the Insurance Department at that Senate committee hearing.
On Wednesday, Lara — who in 2019 apologized for taking campaign contributions from the insurance industry — told the Assembly committee that he went to the summit to meet directly with reinsurers, nearly 40% of which are based in Bermuda. Reinsurers provide insurance to insurance companies. Their role is key when policyholders file claims.
Lara, to the committee: “We have to engage face-to-face, which allows for more direct answers, and I must confront the insurance industry to drive these results. If insurance companies are telling me that the cost of reinsurance is almost tripling, well then I need to trust but also verify by directly meeting with the reinsurance companies who are their customers.”
Lara also said he got some reinsurance companies to agree to expedite payments to wildfire survivors, and that they agreed to work with the state on expanding earthquake insurance.
Michael Soller, a spokesperson for the department, said Lara’s Bermuda trip was paid for by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners. States pay annual assessment fees to the association based on insurance premium volume. This year California is paying the maximum amount of $150,000, along with Florida, New York and Texas, according to the association’s budget.
Lara also said he expects the California insurance market to improve in 2026 — in line with predictions by the insurance industry CalMatters reported in 2023 — after his regulatory reforms that went into effect this year are more fully implemented and insurance companies are able to raise their rates they feel matches their risk.

Other Stories You Should Know
Newsom’s rightward turn?

Four episodes into his new podcast — in which Gov. Gavin Newsom speaks with MAGA loyalists and other guests — reactions from listeners and legislators from both sides of the political aisle have been a mix of bewilderment, skepticism and concern.
As CalMatters’ Alexei Koseff explains, in the podcast’s debut episode, Newsom surprised members of the LGBTQ community when he said the issue of transgender athletes competing in women’s sports was “deeply unfair” during a conversation with conservative provocateur Charlie Kirk.
In another episode with President Donald Trump adviser Steve Bannon, the governor said he was “not an absolutist as it relates to being against tariffs.” But days before, Newsom issued a statement that said tariffs are “a tax on hardworking American families.”
With two years left in his governorship, legislators, advocates and California residents have been left wondering how much weight to give Newsom’s casual podcast comments when it comes to his stance on state policy.
Anthony Rendon, former Assembly speaker when Newsom took office during Trump’s first term: “They’re mystified. ‘WTF’ is the most common text message I get.”

Elsewhere in the state Capitol: Though it’s been four years since California passed a landmark law expanding mental health coverage, advocates continue to raise concerns about the lack of health plans covering mental health treatment. In response, the Legislature is considering a handful of bills that seek to regulate mental health insurance. Find out what they are from CalMatters’ Jocelyn Wiener.
Tesla lays groundwork for robotaxis

State regulators on Tuesday granted electric carmaker Tesla Inc. permission to kick off a charter service using Tesla-employed drivers in company-owned vehicles, writes CalMatters’ Malena Carollo.
Stemming from a November 2024 application from Tesla, the California Public Utilities Commission authorized the limited transportation service to shuttle Tesla employees in prearranged rides.
Though the permit does not enable Tesla to operate a rideshare service nor allow it to run driverless taxis, it could serve as a key step toward the company launching driverless vehicles. In January, Tesla’s CEO told investors it plans to launch self-driving cars in Austin in June.
Sam Abuelsamid, vice president of market research at communications firm Telemetry and an auto industry analyst: “The only reasonable explanation I can come up with for why they’ve got this (permit) is to allow them to test some of the operational backend services required to run a mobility service.”

And lastly: Protestors sue UCLA

Nearly a year after counterprotesters attacked UCLA students and faculty who were protesting the Gaza war at an encampment on campus, the pro-Palestinian demonstrators are suing University of California and UCLA officials over three separate events. Find out why from CalMatters’ Mikhail Zinshteyn.
California Voices
CalMatters columnist Dan Walters: Under pressure from the Trump administration, the University of California this week abandoned its diversity statement requirement for faculty — a practice the system should have never implemented in the first place.
To treat substance abuse disorder in rural communities, state and local governments must expand the number of “medication units” available to patients, writes Tracy Nguyen, a Stanford University student studying political science and public policy.

Random What If idea: the motel group is already well aware of the St. John’s and what they do when Andy and Danny approach them for a deal for gas in exchange for food.
They had recently run into Jolene after she snuck too close to the motel while trying to spy on them and steal Clementines hat. In the midst of her crazy ramblings, they get the gist of the situation from her— there’s bandits and dairy farmers living in the woods nearby, and the dairy farmers are cannibals who pick off survivors to trade as meat... and both groups have been aware of the motor inn for a while now.
#do they reject the St. John’s straight away?#or do they play along for the moment? hoping to take over the farm or steal their non-meat food to survive?#twdg#terrako.post

hello, do you know a few fics that you would say are absolutely must reads?
Hi, anon! Everyone's favorites are different based on preferences, so this list would likely be different if I knew what your own preferences were. However, here are five fics that really blew me away when I read them:
💜 Love After the End of the World by @mercurial-madhouse (E, 168k)
Society shattered when all electricity suddenly cut off across the globe, plunging the world into darkness. Now, Prometheus Industries is the sole remaining supply of power, a saving grace to those who survived Lights Out. As fugitives in no-man’s land struggling to break into Prometheus HQ, death lurks around every corner for Louis and Zayn. Things get complicated when a routine recon falls apart and Louis collides with Harry and his mates Niall and Liam, survivors with their own agenda.
When staying alive is already a constant battle, the deadliest weakness is to be in love. For Harry and Louis, finding each other sits on top of the endless list of What Else Could Go Wrong.
💜 This Multiplicity of Powers by @helloamhere (E, 149k)
Maybe in another universe he isn’t different. Maybe he hadn’t been given an impossible choice. Maybe he wouldn’t have lost everything and broken everything and then fallen impossibly, irrevocably in love with the first next thing that was kind. Maybe in that universe he doesn’t feel like he’s never breathing, always pretending, teaching the kids even though they all have to learn alone, trying hard not to read the headlines, and so afraid, every day, that he won’t be a good enough teammate to the superhero he can’t live without. He knows that love isn’t supposed to feel this way, slid secret under your skin like a surgical razor, an invisible war held close over the tender vein that keeps you alive. On the other hand, Louis wonders, had he ever known how to do it any other way?
Maybe there’s a universe where he doesn’t have to keep all his secrets on the inside.
But this isn’t that universe. //an X-Men AU.
💜 Black with Autumn Rain by whimsicule (T, 93k)
“Thank you,” Geoff says, taking a sip of his tea. “What did you tell him?”
Louis has a sip as well, lets the tea burn down his throat too quickly, too hot, and he feels it all the way down to his stomach. “The truth. Essentially,” he replies after a moment, licking his lips, relishing the slightly bitter taste of the brew that’s never quite strong enough for Louis’ liking. At least it’s not decaf. “That my dog scented it. That I didn’t touch the body. That I came here first thing.”
Geoff nods pensively. “Did he believe you?”
“Probably not. There’s only so many people who can drown on dry land before it gets fishy.”
or: Harry is a journalist, Louis has lots of secrets and the moors aren't exactly the ideal place to rekindle a lost romance.
💜 The Second Hand Unwinds by @kingsofeverything (E, 51k)
Louis Tomlinson is one of the first members of NASA's top secret Chrono Exploration Program. When things go wrong and he's sent further back in time than planned, he has no other option than to show up on his ex-boyfriend's doorstep.
💜 That's What I'm Here For by @taggiecb (E, 43k)
Louis Tomlinson is a dairy farmer on a tiny farm in eastern Canada. His wife of nearly thirty years has left him and his children are all grown up and out of the house. Louis needs help running his business but has no idea where to even start looking. Luckily for him his children know just the man for the job.
