Dae-ho - safe and sound

You get separated from Dae-Ho during Mingle game
Tumblr media
Dae-Ho
Tumblr media
The air in the brightly lit room vibrated with a nervous hum. The mingle game had just ended, a chaotic ballet of terrified players scurrying to form groups, the deafening crack of gunfire punctuating the end like a gruesome period on a grim sentence.
You, heart hammering against your ribs, scanned the crowd, desperately searching for him. Dae-ho.
You’d seen his face just moments before the last game started, the worry lines etched deeper than usual around his kind eyes, a stark contrast to the brutal setting. He’d given you a fleeting, almost hesitant smile, a silent promise that he’d try his best to find you, to stay safe. Now, you were terrified he hadn’t made it.
The memory of the chaos played in your mind like a broken record. The panic-stricken faces, the desperate scrambles, the sickening thud of bodies hitting the ground. You'd managed to find a group, narrowly avoiding the laser sights that had flickered with deadly intent. But what about Dae-ho?
You pressed your hand to your chest, trying to quell the rising tide of panic. You had grown so attached to him in this awful place. His quiet strength, his gentle humor, the way his eyes crinkled at the corners when he smiled – those were the things you had clung to in this nightmare. He was your anchor, a beacon in the darkness.
Tumblr media
The heavy metal door at the end of the room groaned open, signaling the end of the game. Players, a mixture of relief and terror etched on their faces, began to shuffle back into the dormitory. You pushed through the crowd, every step a plea, every breath a silent prayer. You searched the faces, your vision blurring with unshed tears.
And then, you saw him.
He was sitting on his bunk, his shoulders slumped, head bowed. He was pale, his normally vibrant dark eyes now dull with worry. He was scanning the room just like you had been, his head turning slightly with every shift of the crowd of players, his gaze desperate. As you edged closer, you noticed he was trembling.
He was alive.
The relief that washed over you was so powerful it almost buckled your knees. You started towards his bed, and it wasn’t long before he saw you too. His head shot up, his eyes widening in disbelief. In his eyes was a mixture of utter relief, profound sadness and love that made your heart ache.
Tumblr media
"You're okay.."
He whispered, his voice thick with emotion, as if daring to even believe what his eyes were showing him. He stood up quickly, the sound lost in the general hum of the room.
You didn't hesitate. You broke into a run, your heart pounding a joyous rhythm against your ribs. You didn’t care about the other players, the guards, none of it mattered. All that mattered was reaching him.
He met you halfway, his arms already outstretched. The moment you collided, his arms wrapped around you like a steel cage, holding you so tight you felt his heart beating against yours. It was as if he was trying to melt you into him, hold you in place, make sure you weren’t just some figment of his imagination. You buried your face in his shoulder, your own arms clinging to him with equal ferocity.
You were finally safe in his embrace, and you never wanted to leave.
"I thought…"
His voice was muffled against your hair,
"I thought I'd lost you."
His grip tightened, his body trembling slightly. He was gripping you like you made him whole, and you understood why, you felt the same.
"I'm here,"
You whispered back, your own voice choked with tears.
"I'm here, Dae-ho."
He pulled back slightly, his hands cupping your face, his gaze searching your eyes as if he was checking every detail to confirm you were really there.
"I was so scared,"
He confessed, his voice hoarse.
"I saw the flashes… I thought..."
He couldn’t finish the sentence, the unspoken terror hanging heavy between you.
You knew what he meant. The memories of the marine days, the explosions, the screams, the death. The fear of losing those he cared about. This place had brought it all back, amplified it, made it a constant, gnawing presence in his mind.
You reached up, your hand caressing his cheek, your thumb gently wiping away a stray tear that had escaped his eye.
“I was scared too..”
You admitted, your voice barely audible.
"I thought... I thought something bad had happened to you."
You knew your fears hadn't begun to compare to his, but he needed to know you had been waiting for him, worried for him. You saw the sadness in his eyes, a deep well of pain, but there was also a flicker of something else– a quiet, burning love that mirrored your own.
Tumblr media
For long moments, you just held each other, the rest of the room fading into a blurry background. The world narrowed to just the two of you, the warmth of his embrace a refuge from the cold, harsh reality of your situation. You could feel the tension slowly leaving his body, replaced by the familiar comfort you found in each other's presence.
He leaned his forehead against yours, his breathing still slightly labored.
"Don't ever do that again.."
He murmured, his voice a low rumble.
"Don't ever leave me."
He wasn’t demanding it, just stating a longing, a fear. Pleading.
"I won't."
You promised, your fingers threading through his hair.
"I promise. I'll stay by your side."
You knew it was an impossible promise, in this place, nothing was guaranteed. But in this moment, it didn’t matter. All that mattered was that you were both alive, that you had found each other again.
You pulled back, wanting to see his face again. He smiled then, and though it was small, it reached his eyes, erasing some of the worry. His hands grasped yours, holding them tightly.
“Thank you.”
He said, looking at you with such sweetness that made your heart melt.
“Thank you for being you.”
You knew that the game wasn't over. You both knew that survival here was a matter of luck and grim determination. But in this moment, as you stood there, hand in hand, in the middle of that awful dormitory, you felt a glimmer of hope that maybe, just maybe, you could get through this nightmare together.
The world outside these walls no longer mattered. The only world that mattered was the one you had created together. Where you could feel safe, within each other’s arms, two souls trying to cling to what little humanity was left in this twisted game. And with Dae-ho by your side, that small, fragile hope felt a little bit stronger. You knew, somehow, that you would face whatever came next, together. His love for you was stronger than death itself, and it was keeping you alive.
Tumblr media

Xo, Kitty Season 2 Live Reaction
I spoke into my phone mic throughout my first watch-through of XO, Kitty Season 2 and I've finally finished editing it up so it's neater. So here it is, under the cut to protect others from spoilers. Overall, I'm extremely happy with the season, I'd love to chit chat about it with anybody!
I do apologize if I missed any grammar errors or if there are still misspellings. It was longer than I thought it would be. My thoughts also jump around so I even had to rewatch along with editing to understand what the heck I was saying a couple times lol.
Here <3
Episode 1 Reaction
Lots of squealing and giggling and jaw-dropping in joy- and then at the end my mind was blown at the Stella reveal and I'm sufficiently: 1. Excited to see where this goes and 2. Wow, can I read a girl lol - have a blessed day my butt!
Juliana: Won’t it be like 2:00am in Portland?
Me: Juliana, whose side are you on?
(edit: at this point in my live reaction I was just going to do a blurb for every episode after I finish watching it but as you can tell by episode 2 that did not work. I went from wanting to do a blurb to trying to watch the bulks of it and then put a response to it in but eventually by the end you'll see that the reactions get longer because I kept pausing to react to individual moments and even lines. So that's why there's not much for this even though there was plenty of reaction I promise ♡)
Episode 2 Reaction
I swear if Stella is undercover to try to win this talent show and she does something to undermine Kitty I will probably lose my shit.
She's paying way too much attention to Min Ho and she obviously doesn't like his dad which tells me she has some sort of history with him.
But WOW does Min Ho want to try and move on ‘cause I know he's not over Kitty…
But also I definitely believe that it meant a lot that someone stuck up for him. From what I know about his relationship with his father that really probably meant a lot and if Stella wasn't being genuine in her care towards him that's going to hurt later on.
Everything was moving so fast and now I know why- because Jin tricked Q. I was unnerved by his sudden attention to him but I don't think it was all pretend…
The track moment with Min Ho had me in tears. He's so gullible and he cares so much and I love it.
Dae getting a group of girlfriends to tell the story of last season!? I put it ‘play-by-play’ on my bingo card but I didn't really think it would happen.
Kitty accidentally revealing Yuri/Juliana's relationship in the dorms was a total shocker completely. Honestly. Oh my God, I feel so bad that she did that to Yuri and I know it wasn't on purpose but it's pretty sad.
All I'm saying is that Stella saw Kitty put that stuff in her little box and I don't trust that but also I don't know if Stella would have it out for Kitty unless something crazy happens with Min Ho and she's just one of those girls that has to get revenge or something?
Episode 3 Reaction
I knew that line was to Kitty!!
Yuri! Wtf!? I legitimately did nothing that would happen. I thought it would be too fast for Juliana, or both especially if they’re endgame. I thought we’d need another season for it! And then Min Ho walked in on it!? They both just cheated! One has a girlfriend and the other almost has a girlfriend! And Min Ho walked in on it!!!
But also Kitty crying made me cry. That was literally so sweet of a scene and now it ended like that and now it's chaotic again. Well, I guess it always was…
I gotta’ be honest. I like Praveena a lot.
I like Kitty being a way for Min Ho to get closer to his dad or finding a way to be someone who can be there for him in case it all hits the fan. I love that for them.
I'm really happy that Kitty and Yuri are still getting closer with their mom's history and we're learning more about them and I'm happy that Yuri is someone Kitty can lean on. I'm just torn because of Juliana and Praveena and I don't know. I just don't know…
Episode 4 Reaction
Stella did it! I know she did it and I wish I put it on the bingo card because I tried to keep my hopes up for her that she was not going to be how she is but she is this way oh my Goddddd. I mean, I figured she would have a reason for it. Maybe there's a reason… I don't know what it is but I guess we'll see. But to be fair this could have gone way worse. I feel like we can barreling through plot points and I don't hate it but it's quite the ride.
I feel so bad for Juliana. I thought that for Praveena too but her and Kitty were barely dating so I feel like she could be a little bit more understanding. I mean, I know Kitty said she was over Yuri but come on…
Dae: AdMITTT IT!
Min Ho: 😒
Me: 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I love sassy Dae! He's my favorite one ♡
What is Stella doing? No seriously what is she doing? I feel like she wants an in to win this competition but why? And why go after Kitty?
Poor Dae… I don't even know what to say about that though. I feel like he will forgive Min Ho but I don't know what's going to make that a possibility for him beyond a sincere apology. I would assume that if Min Ho and Kitty are a future thing Dae and Min Ho probably won't really make up before the end of the season because it'll be really tense unless something happens throughout the back half of this season and then it could get cleared up before another season but I'm not sure.
Back to Stella! Did Min Ho’s dad do something to her?
Juliana and Yuri broke up. Shit. That's fucking rough you guys.
Min Ho and Kitty hugged, that was on my bingo card! And ‘Kitty breaking down and somebody comforting her’ was also on my bingo card!
No, I'm not going to lie… I thought Min Ho being in a hot tub and a turtleneck would be a nightmare so that was wrong but you win some you lose some and I feel like I won a little bit lol
But seriously though what is up with Stella like they're keeping me on my toes.
Jin’s apology! Lol
The friendship of Dae and Min Ho is epic- I love it when they team up! Dae with his British accent is the best thing in the world! I love it when he does that. Sassy Dae is literally my favorite one ever. I love him so much! I'm so nervous for him because there's a thing in the promo where he has a devastated look on his face and at this point I'm worried something's going to happen with his father because he was worried about his dad so I think he's going to get a phone call about his father- it's not on my bingo card but I thought about it during like the first episode or something I feel like it should have been on a bingo card but I couldn't figure out why he would have such an awful look on his face on the phone honestly ‘cause I didn't realize it was like health/safety issues were happening.
Honestly though Praveena took that pretty well, I was thinking way worse would happen. I don't know why. I don't know… she was so calm when she reprimanded Kitty. I thought she'd be yelling and screaming for whatever reason, breakup and cheating discoveries are always so dramatic… even though they were barely a thing. It just felt like there was so much tension in the air because of it but she really handled it well and I feel like she'll probably forgive Kitty eventually.
(Rewatch notes: The snow on Min Ho’s head when he tells the girls about the blizzard is stinkin’ adorable! Juliana’s speech to Yuri is just so sad before the reveal ‘Would you believe that he’s stalking me?’ Q, you take me out! When Kitty sinks into Q’s arms I’m just like: Aww poor bby…)
Episode 5 Reaction
Yuri and Alex getting lunch together and talking about drama- that's so exciting and her recognizing and pointing out this flaw that she has and Alex not belittling her for it but encouraging her to grow and encouraging her to look out for someone else and what they need over what she wants is absolutely what I wanted to see this season and with Alex of all people! I am so happy, oh my God.
I hope Stella didn't poison the sandwiches…
“Throw up and die” That look from Min Ho! That look 🤣🤣🤣
They’re matchmakers Oh my God that's great! I love this! Omg!! Min Ho and Kitty are at a matchmaker. What are we doing you guys?
Thank you, Juliana thank you so much for agreeing with Kitty about Stella because we all know it's suspicious. Thank goodness Juliana is here. I love her so much. and she's having this real conversation. I love this for her. I love this for the show. But seriously what was Stella doing in there because what?
Okay the scene in the rain was quite literally the most sweetest thing I've seen ever up to this point. I can't. You guyssssssss, that was so beautiful and literally the sweetest and my heart is breaking for Kitty but I think she's falling in love Min Ho and I can't decide if he has liked her this whole time or if he's starting to like her again. I'm almost I'm 99% sure he's gaslit himself to think he doesn't have feelings for her but I'm pretty sure he has them for her regardless or else he wouldn't do half the things he's done for her this season ‘cause he constantly puts her first constantly and I love it ‘cause this is really what I wanted to see from them. From him specifically :)
“It’s getting quite muddy…” Min Hoooooooo <3
What is going on with Kitty's family though because her great aunt chasing her out of the business was actually insane.
And I want Kitty to know that her mom is amazing in all the ways and so is she.
Good job, Yuri! I'm proud of you. I'm sure that was painful but it was the right thing to do.
Well, now we know what Stella was doing in the cafe. She hates Mr Moon. But why did she have to do that to Min Ho. And what is she gain from tearing him apart to go on his talent show or whatever? To get sympathy points if she doesn't win?
Oh no, Daeeee… this is terrible. I do love that they can set aside their drama to take care of the important things though.
Episode 6 Reaction
Read the room Min Ho. I love you lol
So, they can stand in the same room now but Dae obviously isn't happy with him.
I wonder how Min Ho is handling his dad's stuff as well.
Look at Yuri trying to be a good friend. I'm so proud of her <3
The way I just screamed!!!!!!!!!!! I Like Me Better started playing and I went sooo quiet and I didn't know it was happening and then Peter was there and Kitty was screaming and I was screaming and it's amazing and I'm so happy oh my God!!!!!!!!!
“Peter Kavinsky? Little Peter Kavinsky? You’re as tall as me now!” This quote is what came to my brain, it’s been sooooo long (like a week maybe but lol)
Okay, I was wrong about the letters but this is better.
Oh God, Juliana and Kitty on relatively good terms? I'm loving this anddddd Peter Kavinsky all in one episode? This is amazing!!!
Peter being in the know of all the gossip from the plane confession to info on Juliana and Yuri drama- this is wonderful!!
Me and Kitty are on the same page about Stella, so that's great!
Peter is so nosy and I love it!
“Stop talking.”
“Ping pong?”
“That’s not a thing, Peter.”!!??? God, I hope it’s a thing <3 Let’s make it a thingggg
I'm high-pitched squealing how many ‘Covey’s was that in one scene? No, did somebody count? Because I wasn't counting but it felt like a lot. I was busy freaking out and no I wasn't freaking out because of Min Ho and Peter talking, I was freaking out because of the sparkly pens- lol, no, it was definitely because they were talking. “I think he likes you still” oh my God Peter Kavinsky shut up!
Oh, this is such a big part of her life and their moms have always been their thing to talk about. Of course she had to share this with Yuri. I wonder what Yuri’s going to do to help her? I wish  we got more of Yuri during this time.. To be honest
Is he jealous of Peter? Peter is Kitty's sister's boyfriend don't be jealous but also you could have bought Kitty a pen if you wanted to…
I need Min Ho and Dae to make up. It'll be such a payoff at the end of the season when they do.
I'm pausing in the middle of this race to quickly make a prediction that Jin gets hurt so that way Q gets to participate in the race tomorrow. I promise you I'm paused. If he does that I will literally think he's the sweetest thing in the world and I'll stop doubting his feelings for Q. I don't know if that's the best thing to do but also it’d be really sweet.
Literally immediately after I unpaused it he fell.
Jin, I love you so much.
Okay, maybe it wasn't a pretend fall…
Min Ho leaves the room therefore Stella has everyone in a hostage situation. You can't change my mind. God, what is she planning and how is this going to look bad on Kitty because it probably will.
Stella's going to tell everybody.
Madison, I love you. You're so funny. No! It got funnier, I'm sorry lol
You know someone made a horror trailer for Xo, Kitty Season 2 and honestly they were onto something 🤣 I'm not implying this is scary but the suspense is great!
Stella's disappointed! She wanted to cancel it at least a little bit. Dude, Mr Moon did something to her family or her. I don't know what it was yet but I'm sure she'll tell us eventually and honestly he probably deserves this but Min Ho doesn't deserve this.
Rising Stars? What am I missing? When did this take place? How long ago was this competition? What am I missing??
Min Ho and Dae. I love them. My babies. I'm so happy now. I don't know what's going to happen later on in the season when they realize that maybe there's something more to worry about but right now their friendship is so important to them and that's what's important to me. I can't imagine how long they’ve really been friends like they have to be so close…losing something like that would be heartbreaking they were bound to make up.
Yes, Q, yesss you're amazing and I love you good job!!!
Okay, well we got that reveal for Stella thank you Kitty, you are really good at snooping and figuring stuff out. --Hey, what happened to Praveena now that we're talking about sneaking around?
I feel bad for Min Ho I do and I can't be mad at him for getting mad at Kitty because he's trying his best to move on and he does care about Stella and she has been manipulating him into thinking that she is done all these different sketchy things to help him or get closer to him and that she is someone who she's not and I am going to feel awful for what happens for him when he finds out it's not true, if he does… I'm assuming he will because why wouldn't he? We have two more episodes and I get to hear Peter say the most sweetest words to Kitty right now because she needs to remember who she is and I love that he's here and I wish he was staying longer! Oh, Peter Kavinsky, I love you!
At least we're finally accepting what she is. Damn, Stella goes all out lol that's a whole ass spy clock wow. I was wondering what the purpose of that gift was… makes sense now lol
Episode 7 Reaction
PAUSE. The fact that both their dreams consist of the other person saying that they're right about something is actually so funny to me. I was really hoping this wasn't a dream sequence but obviously I'm wrong right off the bat.
But that ‘ I don't even take calculus’ line was great lol.
I'm pretty sure Kitty missing Min Ho was on my bingo card one of the many Bingo cards lol (edit: it was that she would seek out his friendship, I’m counting it!)
I had high hopes for Jin and now I'm really concerned that maybe I put my faith in the wrong trope because obviously it was not that and I am concerned that it's not going to get better at this point.
Why do I always pause it right before the good shit? (me out here doubting Jin’s love and then he does a prom-posal!)
“You're ruining it” oh, I love you guys!
And here I thought Stella was going to give Kitty dirty look… Turns out Min Ho looked at her. I wonder how he feels about that?  (missing her I’m sureeee)
She's definitely not jealous.
Dae sitting next to Min Ho unprompted- I love the friendship. I'm still celebrating them making up <3
Min Ho is still mad at Kitty because of course he is but things are going to start adding up real quick I'm sure. If Stella wants to audition hopefully she just uses a different song lol
Yuri and Dae going on a shopping trip? That was on my bingo card and oh my God I love her outfit.! Dae is so cute oh my God stop.
Is Min Ho exploding with q? Does this count as an explosion? (I’m counting it!)
Where is he going he's going to Kitty bet my bottom dollar he is! Maybe. Maybe not…he might be going to his dad instead- that would be disappointing…
I was not disappointed, you guys!!
And the one scene in the promo that gave me pause was no concern at all <3
Kitty’s moments with her family… every time I can't help but like hold my breath.
Kitty and Juliana are on phone calling terms!! Bingo Bingo Bingo????
Ooh more Dua Lipaaaa (this in references to Percy Jackson using a Dua Lipa song at the casino, it’s such a strange comment out of context lol)
What a sweet and simple moment of reconnection for Juliana and Yuri. I love that for them!!
There's Praveena!
Chappelle Roan playing. You guys. I know that that was on Bingo cards!
Q is playing wingman.. Love you, Q!
How do I feel about Min Ho's outfit? Not sure yet….but let's see where this goes :)
Honestly, when I put ‘Love Triangle (any point of view)’ I genuinely did not think it would be Kitty’s point of view.
What is a hostage situation if not this???? How did we get to this point??? What the fuck is going on???? This is not season 1 you guys! (edit: honestly by the point in the watching of season 2 I had basically forgotten anything about this show save for whatever was happening in whatever episode I was watching at that point lol This comment was made because season 1 was drama but ‘cutesy’ and this season just chewed it up and spit it out with how high/drastic the stakes got lol)
I don't know if I'm actually breathing right now.
At the end of episode 7 all I can think about is how many people wanted something so different from this season and I hope they're still enjoying this season for what it's had in it. As someone who was Min Ho leaning and has quite literally gotten so many things she could barely fathom for tropes in this season my mind is boggled but Kitty quoting Min Ho from the plane is actually insane to me. I cannot believe that that happened oh my God.
(edit: ‘I miss you’ is felt like a confession of love to me after seeing it three times now)
We have one episode left…where do we go from here?
Episode 8 Reaction
Margot, my darling, I love you! I miss you and I heard you would be in this season but when I Googled it they said you weren't going to be in this season! I am pleasantly surprised!
Kitty is visiting her old home in the boys dorm! And congratulations Q! But I am also worried about Jin, honestly I'm still kind of on the fence about him because it wasn't the pretend injured trope…this is actually, like, bad for him you know?
I repeat: This is a hostage situation!! What do we do? I'm going to cry. Because now Kitty thinks she was wrong but she was right! This is a code red I think lol. But like not LOL but I'm so tired right now I'm not sleeping until I get off work tonight probably so we'll see how this goes for the rest of the night day? Back to the show! (edit: I got like 1.5 hours of sleep that day)
More Yuri and Alex hanging out! This is amazing! I'm so happy about this!! Like, I do wish to see more of Alex and Daniel as well but I really didn't have high hopes for this like I was worried he would still be around Kitty all the time and Yuri would be too focused on Juliana but she's focused on Juliana while she's spending time with Alex. It's like the balance I never saw coming crazy…
Daniel has been spoken about and that was hilarious
Okay, do I get to call Stella pretending to be Min Ho a bingo?? Yes, it counts for the bingo card I'm not even going to ask that question-- it counts for the bingo card!!
Dude. Kitty gets it. That ‘Have a blessed day’ comment… I swear to God it stuck with me in my brain after her promo video. I did not trust it one bit.
Eunice is so sweet ♡ Dae is rightfully protective ♡
Dae's going to sing his mom's favorite song? He is such a good son ♡
Oh my God he faked it the whole time!? It was fake the whole time! It was fake the whole time!!!! What the fuck man!! He's a good actor and I love him! I love him so much, he's my favorite! I love him! oh god what the fuckkkkk
Haul ass!!??? Kitty Song Covey, you texted that to your teacher- your principal!? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 This whole thing riding on Daniel playing the guitar is actually so freaking awesome I never saw this coming!!
Okay, so it wasn't a fake the entire time but he still gets points!!!! <3
No...they stuck with the pop ballad but I do like it a lot so it's okay :) I guess… I don't know if his mom's song would have won over this kind of show- so I understand
Doesn't Kitty look like Lara Jean in P.S. I still love you? With the pigtails and the face paint??
At what point can your feelings be real when you're blackmailing him? What is that ridiculousness?
Dae being happy for Eunice! I love him so much, his heart is so pure and beautiful!!
Oh no, Yuri…
I really have no words after what I would almost consider to be an almost kiss but didn’t quite reach the mark for a bingo imo.
This reunion is literally so beautiful. I'm so happy for her grandmother and her aunt- I'm in tears…
Daniel's awesome. No hugs, no high fives, but handshakes are just as good from him :)
That's some utter bullshit!! I wanted a confession! And on Min Ho's part I wanted another confession! He's swearing off relationships?? Of course he is *sighhhh*. But they're going to travel together and nothing's going to happen?
Talk about a slowburn…love those lol (I really do love them, it’s just so painful)
But like does that count as an almost kiss ‘cause their heads tilted a little bit but I guess personally, in my opinion, you have to lean in to have an almost kiss so I guess I don't get that on my bingo card. Darn it!!
His little head nod though!! *squealllll* It has been so long since I've seen a good slowburn so I find this very exciting. For someone who is Min Ho!leaning  and is now invested in the relationship after this season I will say that there is still definitely a chance things can change who knew we’d wind up here from season 1 episode 1 But Here We Are and wow.
Well, I hope we're getting a season 3 😅 (edit: Honestly the second or third biggest crime is that an announcement for season 3 wasn’t posted in the credits because there is no way we’re not getting one with their relationship cliffhanger and Yuri’s cliffhanger. They can pretend all they want but I know it’s a sure thing in my heart!!)
My final thought…
Before I close my eyes and try to pretend that I'm going to get any sleep in the next 2 hours before my alarm goes off I want to say that that was a wild ride and I will be riding it again very soon because holy shit that was not what I expected from this season and I can't be more happy with it honestly like wow!
Final final thoughts…
I need the entire list of songs that played throughout this entire season because they were all perfect and I love them!!
More thoughts
The camera quality is amazing this season, holy shit.

Round and Round ~ Part 2
Pairing: Front Man/Hwang In-ho x F!Reader
Warnings: Blood, Death, Smut, bit of angst
Summary: Continues on from the previous part, the aftermath of the Mingle game and Gi-hun’s plan to go after the Front Man..
Part 1
Tumblr media
You moved your hair behind your ears before turning your head to look at the man sat next to you on the stairs leading up to your bunk beds, the circle on Young-il’s chest now replaced by a cross after the next round of voting. Even with over half of all the players dead after the mingle game, the vote turned out to be a draw. Young-il noticed you staring and drew up one of his brows, causing you to quickly turn back around.
You opened the box of food on your lap, surprised to see a fork on the side of the tin. “Something you wanted to say?” Young-il asked as he moved down a step to sit next to you, “No, not in particular” You replied. “Oh? They didn’t give me one” Young-il spoke as he nodded towards your tin, his eyes falling on the metal fork, moving your gaze towards the metal box in his hands to see he wasn’t lying.
Young-il closed the tin again with a sigh, laying it down at his feet as you started on your food, feeling Young-il’s thigh pressed against yours as he spread his legs slightly to close the distance between you. You knew he was testing you to see what your reaction would be, if you would move away, but you didn’t move an inch as you continued eating, not acknowledging the contact between you.
When you finished your food not much later, you had been starving after running around in the last game, you held out your fork to the man besides you, taking it from your outreached hand before grabbing his tin from the floor. Young-il barely managed to take a few bites when everyone’s looked up, some bloodied players with circles on their chests walking in, led by a group of pink guards. Your eyes fell on the bloody fork in one of the men’s hand, another group walking in from the other side, seeing some people you knew in this group with crosses on their chests.
“What happened?” Gi-jun asked when the x group walked over to the rest of you, the room clearly split in the middle by x’s and o’s. “Thanos and 333 broke out into a fight, 333 killed- killed him, which caused everyone to join in” Dae-ho spoke, everyone moving closer to listen in. “Did we lose many?” Jung-bae joined in, everyone turning their heads to the other group to see they were already staring. “Count how many they have, and how many we have” Young-il suggested, Gi-hun started to count your group as Young-il counted the other side.
“Well?” You asked, your gaze shifting between them. “They have 65” Young-il replied, Gi-hun sighing softly. “We have 66, they’ll never accept that for the revote tomorrow” Gi-hun spoke, most of your group nodding in agreement. “Did more people get forks in their boxes?” You asked, a few people raising their hands. “So they have weapons if they want to try and take some of us out” You continued, Gi-hun biting down on his bottom lip, seemingly deep in thought.
“They’ll attack us tonight, when they think we’re asleep, they only have to take out two of us to have the majority vote tomorrow” Gi-hun spoke softly, making a shiver run down your spine as you wrapped your arms around your waist. “We should take turns keeping watch, then all of us can still catch some sleep for the next game” Young-il spoke, everyone nodding in agreement. Everyone moved to their beds after a little while had passed, Gi-hun and Jung-bae taking first watch.
You laid your head down on your pillow when the lights dimmed, letting out a nervous sigh, knowing falling asleep would be difficult as hell with your heart beating loudly in your ears. After what you estimated to be an hour had passed you sat up with a sigh, wanting to join Gi-hun but a voice softly called out to you from the bed beside yours. “What are you doing?” Young-il whispered, your eyes shifting toward him. “I can’t sleep, I’ll switch with one of them” You replied, nodding your head in the direction of the two men keeping watch.
“You should really try to sleep, you need energy for tomorrow, Gi-hun and Jung-bae are keeping an eye out” He replied, “I know.. but by the time he notices someone’s all the way back here, it’ll already be too late” You spoke, making him sigh in agreement. “Come sleep next to me then, I’ll stay awake so you can catch some shut eye” Young-il told you, shifting to the side of his mattress to give you space. You had to bite back a laugh at his words, wanting to tell him how that wouldn’t be any better since your trust in him had faltered because of what happened in the past game, but you still moved out of your bed.
You took the three steps to cross the path between your bunks, sitting down next to him before lying down, your back facing him. Young-il let out a deep breath before lying down beside you, placing a hand on your arm as he moved his other hand to prop his head up, doing as he promised. His hand on your arm drawing gentle patterns through your jacket somehow calmed your nerves, and you were already fighting to keep your eyes open, sleep overtaking you not much later. Young-il looked down at your sleeping face with a sigh, carefully lifting his hand to move a loose strand of hair out of your face, moving the back of his fingers over the incredibly soft skin of your cheek. He had to hold himself back to not press his lips where his fingers had just been before he heard footsteps come in his direction, moving his hand back down to your arm.
It didn’t take long for Young-il to shake you awake, opening your eyes to see Gi-hun kneeled in front of you too. “We need to do something, they’re planning their attack and we don’t have enough people strong enough to fight back” Gi-hun softly spoke, Jung-bae stood behind him. “What are you suggesting?” Young-il asked as you rubbed the sleep from your eyes, sitting up too. “Let’s wait until they attack, the guards will come to stop the fight because they don’t want too many of us to die, we steal their guns, and-..” Gi-hun spoke before stopping, furrowing his brows. “And?” Young-il questioned, Gi-hun scratching his jaw before replying, “We attack the front man”
You let out a laugh before noticing the serious look on Gi-hun’s face, “You’re being serious?” you asked. “Yes, this could be our only chance, and it’s better than having to fight them” Gi-hun replied, a silence falling between the four of you. “Let’s do it” Jung-bae spoke, “I’m in as well” You added, the three of you turning to Young-il who stayed silent. He looked up and the stoic look on his face shifted to a smile you now easily recognized as fake, “Let’s tell the others” he spoke before getting up.
You spent the rest of night waiting for movement from the other side of the room, until all your heads perked up when you heard footsteps approaching. You heard a scream from somewhere in front of you before several fights broke out, Young-il grabbing your shoulder to pull you behind him, leading you away from the fights and down the stairs. “Let’s hide so we can grab one of the guards” Young-il softly spoke, his hand still behind him to hold on to you. You looked to your side to see Gi-hun and Jung-bae fighting with two other men, holding down the urge to run over to them as you kneeled behind a flipped bed next to Young-il.
What felt like hours were a few seconds in reality before the lights came on, hearing the loud footsteps of the pink guards’ boots. “Everyone halt and lay down your weapons!” The leader of the guards called, hearing the commotion stop. You peeked past the side of the bed to see the guards were too far away to grab, before Gi-hun started another fight to try to lead a guard his way. Young-il and you exchanged a look when you heard boots coming closer, waiting until the guard was close enough before you popped out behind the cover, Young-il throwing the guard to the floor with his full weight as you grabbed the rifle from the guard’s hands, firing at the other guards as Young-il pulled you back into cover.
When you hit a few of the guards who had ran over to close in on you some of the others from your group had managed to grab a couple of rifles, all of having shot down around 10 of the guards before they decided to retreat. “Let’s go, this is our chance!” Gi-hun yelled, walking over to the pink bodies to grab whatever ammo and walkie talkies they had on them. “Who’s with us?” Jung-bae called out, the only ones to respond being Hyun-ju, Dae-ho, 156, 047 and 246. “We’ll never make it with just 9 of us” Jung-bae softly spoke, making Gi-hun shake his head, “We don’t have a choice, let’s go”
Hyun-ju explained to you how to reload the gun and check on the magazine when you made it to the stairs, before a few bullets flew just inches past your head, all of you crouching down before shooting back. “Stay close to me at all times” Young-il told you as he moved in front of you, giving him a quick nod in response before you made your way up, shooting at whatever bit of pink you saw peeking through the openings around you. “They’re coming from over here!” Gi-hun yelled as he stood at the front of your group, peeking around a corner. “Jung-bae, come with me, the rest of you cover us until I’ll call you over the walkie to tell you if it’s safe” Gi-hun continued, disappearing around the corner with Jung-bae before you could even protest. “Let’s hold our ground here!” Hyun-ju called out, each of you taking your positions as you shot at the guards making their way over. You felt in your pocket to check if the full magazine was still there, feeling the heavy weight of it in your jacket to your relief. You saw Young-il throw away his empty magazine and load his gun with a new one, checking yours to see you still had half of it left. A few minutes had passed, yet your walkie stayed silent, concern raising within you as you grabbed Hyun-ju’s arm.
“Some of us should check on them, it’s taking too long and our ammo is running out” You told her, Hyun-ju humming in agreement. “I’ll go, Y/N can come with me and we need one more” Young-il spoke, 047 raising his hand. “Let’s go” Young-il continued, running over to the door Gi-hun had jammed open with an empty rifle. You followed the dead bodies sprawled out through the hallways and stairs, until you heard gunshots come from close by. The three of you turned the final corner before your eyes fell on Gi-hun and Jung-bae, who signed for you to stay back. “They just keep coming, we need to find a way to attack them from behind” Gi-hun whispered, ducked behind the wall. “I think I saw a way back there, we’ll attack from there” Young-il replied, “Good luck” Gi-hun spoke as his eyes shifted to yours.
You followed Young-il back the way you came, 047 close behind you. Young-il shot at a guard who popped out behind a corner, before you heard his gun was empty. You had just reloaded your own and doubted for a second when Young-il threw his rifle to the floor with a loud curse, moving the band off your shoulder before handing your rifle to him. “You’re a better shot than I am” You told him, Young-il taking it from your outreached hand. You made it up another set of stairs, Young-il taking out the two guards before making it around the corner, seeing the guards at the top were stood with their backs towards you.
“This is it” Young-il softly spoke as he turned to face you and 047, “How much ammo do you have left?” He asked 047, who opened his magazine to check. “Over half” 047 told him, Young-il doing the same. “I have less than half” He told the man, 047 moving up. “I’ll take lead then, if they turn around I have more bullets to fire at them” 047 spoke, Young-il giving a nod in agreement. 047 was clearly shaking as he moved up the stairs before gunshots sounded from right next to you, 047 falling to the floor as you saw the bullet holes in his back. You took a few steps back as you looked at Young-il with his rifle lifted, feeling your heart shoot into your throat as you moved to the other side of the stairs with you back pressed against the wall before the pink guards turned in your direction.
Before Young-il could yell out a loud “No!” a gunshot sounded before you felt a sharp pain at your shoulder, falling to your knees as you moved a hand up to the painful spot. You moved your hand back down when you felt a warm liquid cover your fingers, seeing blood dripping from your hand before you lost your balance, moving your hand towards a step in an attempt to hold yourself up. “Get them!” Young-il yelled at the guards before throwing his rifle to the floor, moving over to you as he pressed his hand to your shoulder to try to stop the bleeding. You used your last strength to look at him before huffing, “I knew I-.. I shouldn’t have trusted-…” you muttered before everything went black.
~~~
You blinked a few times as you felt warmth coming from your left side, feeling that you were lying on something soft and a warm yellow light was around you. You wanted to lift your hand to rub your eyes but pain spread from your shoulder as soon as you lifted it too far up, hearing rustling coming from a bit further away as footsteps neared you. You turned your head towards the source of the warmth to see you were lying on a couch next to a fireplace, a hand moving towards the side of your face as you turned to look at who it belonged to. “Shh you’re ok, you’re safe” A voice you recognized sounded, but your vision was still too blurry to make out who it was.
Where even were you? The last thing you remembered was speaking to Gi-hun and Jung-bae as you and Young-il fought through the guards, before he-, before he shot 047. You moved to sit up but Young-il gently pushed you back down, your vision shifting into focus to see he had changed out of his player uniform into a black t shirt and pants. “Young-il, what are you-“ You tried to say but he interrupted you, sitting down on the edge of the couch to lean over you, “Let’s start with; that’s not my name, it’s In-ho, and yes I wasn’t just a player”
You parted your lips to say something but you didn’t know where to start, his whole demeanor had changed compared to who you thought him to be, looking at your shoulder when he finished taping the bandage on it. “Why?” You asked, feeling tears edging to roll out of the corner of your eyes but you quickly blinked them away, slowly sitting up which In-ho allowed this time. “That’s a very long story, the only thing you need to know is that.. I have grown very fond of you, I never meant for them to shoot you” In-ho told you, the same softness you had seen in his eyes earlier returning. “I’m so very sorry for that” He muttered before leaning towards you, pressing his lips against the only part of your shoulder that wasn’t covered in bandages. You let out a shaky breath before he moved upright again, his hand slowly running down your arm. You only now realized you were only dressed in your white but blood stained tanktop and the green sweatpants you had been in since the start of all this, wondering if he was the one to undress you and take care of your wound.
You had so many questions but your head was too clouded to even think straight, made only worse when he ran his fingers through your hair, your attraction to him somehow taking up all your thoughts instead of his sudden betrayal. You knew it would only be rational to hit him in the face and ask him where your friends were, but somehow you could only focus on his dark gaze looking over you as his hand combed through your hair. “What are you going to do to me?” You asked him, your eyes meeting his, his brows furrowing as he met your gaze. “That all depends on you, sweetheart” In-ho spoke, moving his hand out of your locks to cup your cheek, his thumb stroking your cheekbone. Your eyes fell on the gun laying on the table behind him, In-ho noticing and turning your head to make sure your gaze was only on him
He gave you a second to reply but when you stayed silent he moved the slightest bit closer to you, his face now close enough so you could feel his breath, your lips parting automatically as you held his gaze. His hand moved down around the base of your neck, setting gentle pressure before closing the distance, his lips meeting yours in a hungry kiss. You let out a gasp before allowing his tongue to slip inside, his arms wrapping around you before he nudged you to lie down, moving on top of you without ever breaking the kiss.
Your hands disappeared into his soft hair which caused a moan to leave him, grinding his hips into you as his hands grazed over your sides, moving up slightly to look down at you. “I’ve been wanting to do this since the moment I laid eyes on you, jesus” He groaned, his fingers trailing down your ribs before stopping at your waist, grabbing onto the hem of your tanktop before gently stripping it off you. He moved a hand behind you when he helped you out of the top to continue on your bra, sliding it down your arms before throwing it to join your tanktop on the floor. In-ho propped himself up to take in your exposed body, pulling at your sweatpants before pushing them down your legs, the only garment covering you now being your panties.
Your fingers clawed at his back before he lowered himself down on top of you again, moving his head down to let his teeth graze over the sensitive skin of your neck before sucking at exactly the right spot, unable to hold down the moan that escaped your lips. One of his hands trailed down your chest to your stomach before stopping at the hem of your panties, his fingers teasing at the edge before moving further down, rubbing you through the soft fabric. You both let out a gasp as you moved your hands under his shirt, his warm skin under your fingertips driving you even further to the edge as you closed your eyes, pressing your face into his neck, his heavy breathing loud against your ear.
“I can barely hold myself back, I need to be inside you” In-ho groaned, a gasp escaping you before pulling off his shirt, In-ho moving back to let you move it over his head, disposing it next to your pile of clothes, his pants following soon after. “Please..” You muttered as you moved a hand up in his thick dark hair, both of your underwear joining the floor soon after, his hand back between your legs as he spat on his fingers before easing two of them inside you. You couldn’t make out which of your moans was louder when your walls clenched around his index and middle finger, his other hand digging into your waist.
“I need to fuck you” In-ho growled against your neck, moving his fingers out of you before moving them between his lips to clean off your juices, his hands on both sides of your head, dug into the pillows of the couch beneath you. “I want you to, In-ho please..” You mewled as he moved himself against you, one hand wrapped around your throat as he slowly pushed into you, closing your eyes as he pressed his forehead against yours. One of your hands was on his back, your nails pressing half moons into his skin when he picked up his pace, your other hand pulling on his hair every time he thrusted into you. In-ho pressed his body even closer to you, his arms wrapped around you as you felt his warm pants on your face, your eyes meeting his which caused a deep groan to leave him, his tongue meeting yours in a messy kiss.
“You feel like heaven, fuck” In-ho muttered against your lips, feeling that he had to hold back in order not to fill you up already, wanting to savor this moment as long as he could. “I want to feel you cum inside me, In-ho” You moaned as he looked down at you, feeling his body stutter at your words before fucking into you completely, causing a loud moan to leave you as he thrusted into you as deep as he could. “Such a good girl for me..” In-ho moaned as you felt pressure building inside your belly as he fucked you into the couch, both of your bodies starting to get covered in sweat as your moans filled the room. You hooked your legs behind his back to somehow urge him even deeper, feeling a shiver spread through him before burying himself inside you, a load growl escaping him as he pressed his face against your neck. Both of your hands buried in his hair as you let him ride out his orgasm, his arms wrapped around you so tight you had trouble breathing. You felt him fill you up completely as he slowed down before stopping, still buried deep inside you as you felt his cum leak out of you, dripping down your lips.
When he finally caught his breath he moved his head up to meet your cloudy gaze, his pupils dilated so wide his eyes looked black, lowering his head so his nose rubbed against yours before pressing a soft kiss on your lips. He carefully moved out of you as he moved to lie down behind you, rolling over on your side as In-ho moved against you. His arms wrapped around you as he buried his nose into the crook of your neck, moving your hand up to grab onto his lower arm as you eased against his warm chest. “In-ho, I-…” “Shh, let keep the talking for tomorrow yeah? For tonight.. I am far from done with you” He interrupted you, unable to hide the grin on your face when his lips pressed to your neck, pulling you even closer against him, knowing you were in for a very long night..
We're Okay || Kang Dae-ho
Tumblr media
pairing: Kang Dae-ho x f!reader summary: Things go wrong during the third game word count: 2.1k warnings: mingle game, character death, blood, squid game stuff A/N: this man is the only thing in my head rn. posted this before when tags weren't updating so reposting now. also this is only sorta proofread so if you see any mistakes no you didn't <3 **this is sorta a p2 to "a welcome distraction" but can be read as standalone**
Tumblr media
We will go hand in hand
And have fun jumping around
Round and round
The platform stops turning suddenly, and you grab onto Dae-ho to stop yourself from falling over.
"Eleven"
You and Dae-ho lock eyes for a split second before you both start looking around for more players. Together you were six, meaning you needed four more.
Gi-hun turns to a player behind him. "How many are you?"
"Four," the woman replies.
"That makes us ten!" Jung-bae whimpers.
A man from another group comes running over. "Are you five? We need five!"
Before any of you can answer, another player yells back. "We have five people! Come with us!"
The two groups go running off towards a door.
"We have to hurry!" Gi-hun says.
"There's no time, Gi-hun!" Young-il tells him.
"We need one more!" the tall woman yells. She spots someone by herself near the center of the platform and grabs her. "We have eleven now!"
"To the green door over there! Hurry!" Young-il yells, already running off in the direction of the door.
Before you know what's happening, Dae-ho grabs you and pulls you along after him. You rush after him into the room, pushing yourself against the wall to make room for everyone else to get inside. You look up at the man next to you before turning your head towards the beeping sound coming from the back of the room. The clock runs out, and the lock clicks on the door.
You breathe out a sigh of relief that you made it in time, but jump and yelp when you hear the screams coming from outside the door, along with the gunshots. Looking towards the door, you watch Gi-hun's reactions as he watches the people outside. The sounds of gunshots are soon replaced with the sounds of the forklifts coming in with the coffins.
Your heart begins to race. If Dae-ho had not taken you back to his friends and added you to his team, you surely would be one of those bodies out there. You look up at Dae-ho to see him already looking down at you. He saved your life.
Dae-ho looks you over to make sure you're okay before you both look around at the others in the room with you. You smile a bit when you see the nice lady and her son with you, as well as players 120 and 095. You had watched them during the six-legged race and watching them cross the finish line had filled you with hope that you could do it too.
"You're alive thanks to me!" a voice yells from inside your room, making you and everyone else jump. You turn and see the creepy lady standing in the middle of the green room, looking you all over one by one. She speaks to Gi-hun, making everyone look at each other with a mix of fear and confusion. This lady doesn't seem to understand that it is not the time for this.
The eliminated players are announced and you are let out of the rooms. The floors are already covered in blood. Red is splattered all over the walls as a morbid reminder of what will happen to you if you lose.
Everyone steps onto the platform and it starts moving again as the music starts up. Looking around, you see that weird purple-haired guy and his friend dancing together. You don't know whether to smile that people can find happiness even in a moment like this, or to be horrified that they can dance in the blood of all those people.
The platform stops again and you are shot back into the game.
"Four"
Your team looks around at each other. Just as you're about to volunteer to find others, Young-il and Jung-bae separate, shouting about needing two more people.
The rest of you run towards an open room with a purple door, taking deep breaths. Gi-hun keeps the door open and looks outside to make sure that the others found another room in time. Right before time runs out, Dae-ho pulls Gi-hun into the room and closes the door, hearing the lock turn immediately after.
The room is tense with none of you knowing whether your friends made it in time. You look at Dae-ho, seeing the worry on his face, and gently take his hand. He looks towards you and squeezes your hand, not letting go even when the doors unlock and you are let out.
Dae-ho starts yelling for Young-il and Jung-bae before a voice calling Gi-hun's name grabs your attention. You look over with relief to see that both of them are alive.
Young-il turns to Jun-hee, asking her if she is alright.
"Wait a minute," Young-il says, "if the next number is seven, we won't need anyone else, will we?"
You all smile as you understand what he's saying, and Jun-hee holds her swelling stomach, a warm smile on her face.
The number for the next round is three, making it easy for your team to split up into two groups and get into rooms with time to spare. You nearly cry as the mother and son are reunited after the round ends, and Dae-ho pulls you towards him, wrapping his arm around your shoulders and rubbing his hand up and down your arm.
Your team grows after that, quietly adding the old lady and her son and players 120 and 095.
The platform starts to spin again as the next round starts.
"I hate this fucking song," you mumble under your breath.
The platform stops as the voice announces the next group size.
"Seven"
"Two men and five women! Go!" Gi-hun yells to the team.
"Which two men?" Jung-bae asks.
"I'm going with my mom!" Yong-sik says, holding onto his mother tightly.
Dae-ho holds up your joined hands. "I'm coming." You're dragged in the direction of the group as you run along. Dae-ho opens an orange door, but stops seeing that it's full.
The old man from before pushes Dae-ho out of the doorway before shutting the door. You keep Dae-ho from falling and instead pull him in the direction of an open room that player 120 found. As you run, you can hear the voice counting down. You make it with just a few seconds to spare.
You sigh in relief, but freeze once you turn around. Instead of two men and five women, the room contains two men and four women. Player 120 is standing near the door, ready to run outside when a man pushes her into the room and closes the door just in time for them to lock.
The crying eyes of player 095 look through the slot in the door.
"Young-mi!" Player 120 screams, running towards the door and desperately trying to open it.
The girl outside continues crying until a gunshot is heard and she slides down the door.
Player 120 screams as the woman cries with her son over their lost friend. Dae-ho pulls you close to him as player 120 starts screaming at the man who came in. As sad as his is to see the girl die, he's relieved that it wasn't you out there looking at him through the slot.
The doors unlock and you walk out silently. The others smile when they find you, but immediately notice the missing girl and frown. Without a word, you all step up onto the platform once more as the voice announces that this will be the last round and the music starts up again.
"What do you think it'll be this time?" Jung-bae asks Gi-hun.
"Two," Young-il answers, getting our attention.
"Why?"
"There are 126 people left, and there are 50 rooms. So there won't be enough rooms for everyone, only 100."
You and Dae-ho look at each other. He tightens his grip on your hand, silently telling you that he will bring be with you. You nod at him and get ready to run.
"Two"
Everyone immediately starts running towards the doors in a mad sprint. You stay with Dae-ho, keeping your hands together so you don't get separated.
Dae-ho opens a red door, but you're pushed aside before you can get in with him. You look up as another man pushes inside the room and closes him and Dae-ho in.
Fear like you've never known before takes over your body. You're about to die. Dae-ho can be heard inside the room, screaming your name and trying to open the door, but the man keeps him from getting out. The voice starts to count down from ten. As you accept you're fate, a pair of hands grab you and drag you into a yellow room, throwing you in before throwing the lone person inside out and closing the door.
You gasp for air as you pull yourself off the floor, staying on your hands and knees as you try to get a grasp of what just happened. Someone had saved your life.
Turning to see who your savior is, your eyes grow wide when you read the '246' on his chest.
He kneels beside you, putting a hand on your shoulder. "Are you alright?"
You nod frantically. "Thanks to you."
The gunshots begin outside and you throw your arms around the man in front of you. You'd be one of them if it weren't for him.
"Thank you," you cry into his shoulder as he hugs you back.
"There was enough time. I watched you get pushed and I just had to do something," he says.
You want to say thank him a million times, but words won't come out as you just stay in each others arms.
Two rooms over, Dae-ho's knuckles are stained red with blood as he punches the door over and over. There's no way that you made it in time, he knows that. He turns and screams at the other player in his room for pushing you, attempting to hit him before his cries take over and he falls into the corner of the room, sobbing into his sleeve.
The doors are eventually unlocked and everyone makes their way out. Dae-ho walks out slowly, looking at the floor and feeling empty. He couldn't save you.
The others run over to him, but they all frown and let out a few gasps when they see that the other person coming out of his room isn't you.
Dae-ho finally looks up at his team, though they all look blurry from the tears in his eyes. He must look like a wreck, but he can't even bring himself to care about that.
Jung-bae walks up to him and puts a hand on his shoulder, and Dae-ho breaks down again, sobbing into the shoulder of his fellow ex-marine. The area around them is silent except for Dae-ho's cries. That is until door opens behind them and a small gasp is heard in front of him. Dae-ho looks up at the woman holding her son and sees her looking past him.
"Dae-ho."
Dae-ho freezes when he hears the voice. He slowly turns around, not wanting to get his hopes up and believe that it's you. But there you, alive and standing in front of him. You look at each other for a few seconds before Dae-ho rushes towards you, throwing his arms around you as you do the same.
The man breaks down again as he hugs you. "I thought you were dead. I'm so sorry."
You rub his back as he cries, quietly telling him that it's okay.
He pulls back and cups your face with his hands, making sure to look you over. "I'm so sorry."
"It's alright, Dae-ho, it wasn't your fault," you reassure him. "And I'm okay. Everything is alright."
He nods, though tears continue to fall down his cheeks. "How did you find a room?"
You smile and look behind you at the man walking towards your group. "This man here picked me up off the floor and saved me at the last moment."
Player 246 just smiles. Dae-ho pulls you back into a hug as he thanks the man over and over for saving your life.
The other players start filtering out of the room. You break away from Dae-ho and pull him along with you towards the door.
As you're walking, he throws an arm around you and pulls you against him, placing a desperate kiss on your forehead that makes you blush. "I can't believe you're alive," he whispers against your skin.
You smile at him and take his hand, squeezing it. "You said it yourself, we're going to get out of here. Together."
Dae-ho keeps you close to him as you walk, the others from your team patting you on the shoulder as they tell you they're happy you made it. Dae-ho keeps his eyes on you the whole time, determined to get the both of you out of here. Today.
The group sat gathered around with a small meal, the kind of makeshift dinner that felt comforting despite the bleak circumstances. Gi-hun leaned back, his arms crossed, recounting some story about the Front Man. “I’m telling you, he has cameras everywhere. He probably sees and hears everything we’re saying.”
The mood was tense, as it often was when the Front Man became the topic of conversation. But your lips twitched upward, a thought making you suppress a giggle.
Dae-ho, ever the curious one, caught it immediately. “What’s so funny?” he asked, narrowing his eyes in your direction.
You waved a hand dismissively. “Oh, nothing. It’s silly. Forget it.”
Young-il, sitting across from you, tilted his head slightly, his expression soft. “Come on,” he said gently, his voice soothing in a way that made you feel oddly safe. “Anything you have to say, we’ll appreciate. Don’t hold back.”
Encouraged by his tone, you hesitated for just a moment before shrugging. “Alright, but don’t judge me.” You exhaled a breathy laugh, looking down at your lap for a second before glancing back up. “What if the Front Man is, like—really hot?”
The reaction was instant. Dae-ho choked on his milk, sputtering, while Jun-Hee’s eyes widened slightly before she went back to eating as if she hadn’t heard you. Even Jung-Bae, usually laid back, looked at you like you’d just grown a second head.
“Seriously?” Gi-hun said, shaking his head in disbelief. “That’s what you’re concerned about?”
“What?” you asked defensively, your shoulders lifting in mock innocence. “I’m just saying. It’s possible!”
Gi-hun groaned, covering his face with his hands. “We’re talking about a guy who might be orchestrating all this madness, and you’re worried if he’s good-looking?”
Before you could respond, your eyes flicked to Young-il. Everyone else was either laughing awkwardly or shaking their heads, but Young-il wasn’t saying a word. Instead, a subtle smirk tugged at the corner of his lips, almost imperceptible to anyone else. Almost.
Your gaze stayed on him for a moment, your brow quirking as you tilted your head slightly in return, a silent question hanging between the two of you. His smirk deepened just enough for you to catch the meaning, amusement, maybe even intrigue, but he quickly smoothed his expression before anyone else noticed. He was hot too, you thought.
Gi-hun, still shaking his head, muttered, “Out of everything you could be thinking about.”
“Well, excuse me for lightening the mood,” you shot back playfully, rolling your eyes. “It’s not like I said I wanted to marry him or something. Geez.”
As the group moved on, you couldn’t help but replay the moment in your head. Maybe you were overthinking it, but wasn’t Young-il’s smirk a little too knowing? Or maybe it was just your ridiculous crush on him twisting your perception. You’d never admit it out loud, but you found yourself drawn to his quiet confidence, the calm authority he exuded even in casual moments like this.
It was ironic, really, here you were crushing on Young-il while joking about the Front Man. Little did you know, the very man you were teasing about might as well have been sitting right in front of you, wearing the mask in plain sight.
You shook the thought off with a small laugh. Overthinking, as usual. Still, when Young-il glanced your way again, his gaze warm and unreadable, you couldn’t stop your stomach from fluttering.
The night had settled into a familiar stillness, broken only by the occasional shuffle of someone shifting in their sleep. You couldn’t sleep, your earlier exchange with Young-il replaying in your mind. That smirk, so brief, had lodged itself in your thoughts.
You were still awake when he appeared, his footsteps quiet as he approached where you lay, tucked into a dim corner of the quarters. He didn’t say anything at first, just crouched down beside you, his dark eyes searching yours.
“Can’t sleep either?” he asked softly.
“Guess not,” you replied.
He tilted his head, a faint smile tugging at his lips. “Still thinking about the Front Man being hot?”
“I didn’t mean to make it weird,” you said laughing and flustered.
“You didn’t,” he assured you. “But if I didn’t know better, I’d say you might have a type.”
Your cheeks warmed under his words, and you rolled your eyes, trying to deflect. “Oh, come on. I was joking.”
“Were you?” he teased, his smile widening just a bit.
You were about to retort, but something in his expression stopped you. His hand, warm and steady, brushed against your cheek, lingering for just a moment before he leaned in slightly, his voice dropping to a whisper.
“You know,” he said, his tone teasing, “if you wanted to get something off your chest, now’s the time.”
Your breath hitched. “What are you trying to say, Young-il?”
“Just that I’m here,” he replied, “If there’s something you want.”
His words sent a jolt through you, and before you could second guess yourself, you leaned in, pressing your lips to his. The kiss started slow, testing the waters, but quickly deepened as his hand came up to cradle your face.
The thought of the games seemed to fall away as you lost yourself in the way his lips moved against yours. His hands were firm but gentle, holding your face as the kiss turned hungrier, more insistent. His fingers found their way into your hair, tugging slightly, drawing a low moan from him that you quickly stifled.
“Quiet,” he murmured against your lips, a teasing smirk playing on his face as his thumb brushed over your cheek. “We wouldn’t want to wake anyone, would we?”
Your heart raced as his lips moved to your neck, his hands on your waist as he guided you back against the small bed. He trailed kisses down your chest, his kisses slow and savoring every moment.
“You’re so beautiful like this,” he murmured, his voice barely above a whisper.
A soft gasp escaped your lips as his kisses grew bolder, trailing lower. He pulled off your bottoms and your lace panties, tongue licking from your hole to your clit. The way he did it so suddenly, so smoothly, made your pussy throb. You instinctively bit down on your lip, your hands fisting the fabric beneath you as you fought to keep your composure.
“Relax,” he whispered. “Let me taste you.”
His hands slid down your thighs, spreading them open as he adjusted your position. He glanced up at you, his dark eyes meeting yours with a glimmer of mischief and tenderness. You pressed your lips together tightly, his skilled tongue flicking your clit then moving to your leaking hole.
“Don’t hold back too much,” he murmured, a soft smile tugging at his lips. “I want to hear those pretty moans, just a little.”
Your cheeks warmed at his words, his tone leaving you breathless. You felt the warmth of his fingertips on your thighs and the tenderness of his kisses on your pussy, and his praises were a quiet balm to the storm of emotions swirling inside you because of the game.
“You taste so fucking good,” he whispered. “You’re perfect.”
Your fingers gripped his shoulders as he continued ravishing your pussy, mouth engulfing you and sucking as though the meal from earlier wasn’t enough. He was attentive to your pleasure, fingers pumping steadily inside your pussy as sucked and flicked your clit with precision. The precision you expected and appreciated in an older man. No one had ever made you feel this good. The pleasure was otherworldly and your legs shook from it all.
The coil in your abdomen and euphoria built with every passing second and you had to clamp a hand over your mouth to keep quiet. His words and actions blurred together, creating a warmth that left you trembling. When his tongue brought you to your peak, you bit down on your lip to stifle a cry, your entire body shuddering as he pressed a soft kiss to your clit.
“You did amazing,” he said softly, his lips brushing against your ear as he leaned closer.
You gently nudged Young-il to lie back, a teasing smile tugging at your lips. “My turn,” you murmured, your fingers grazing the waistband of his bottoms.
He raised an eyebrow, a chuckle escaping him, but there was no mistaking the lust in his gaze. “You don’t have to—”
“I want to,” you interrupted softly.
Slowly, you slid his bottoms down, taking in the sight of his, long, thick cock with a mixture of nervousness and determination. He was big, but you could take him. His sharp inhale was audible as your lips wrapped around the head, his hand instinctively brushing against your cheek as you went down.
“You’re too good to me,” he whispered, his voice low and tinged with awe.
Your fingers wrapped around his girth, careful and deliberate, and you began to stroke as you sucked with a rhythm that earned a quiet moan from him. The sound sent a shiver down your spine, but you focused, letting his quiet praises guide you.
“Just like that,” he murmured, his fingers threading in your curls. “You’re doing so well.”
You glanced up at him, mouth full, eyes watering and saliva mixed with pre cum dripping down your chin. Your cheeks warmed from his words and the darkness of his gaze. The way he looked at you like you were the most beautiful little thing in the world as you took him down your throat made your heart race. You bobbed your head faster, using as much tongue as you could on his thick shaft, your actions conveying what words couldn’t.
The effect was immediate. His head fell back against the pillow, a low moan escaping him as his free hand gripped the fabric beneath him.
“God, you’re incredible,” he said, his voice rough. “That pretty face of yours, how will I last?”
You couldn’t help but smile with his cock buried in your throat, your movements continued, now slower and purposeful as you went up and down. His breathing grew heavier, and his hand in your hair tightened slightly as he struggled to maintain composure.
“You’re too good,” he managed, his voice breaking slightly. “I—”
Before he could finish, the coil in him snapped, and his praises were replaced with a low, drawn out moan of relief. You swallowed the ropes of hot cum, watching as he tried to catch his breath, his gaze locking with yours almost immediately.
“You’re perfect,” he said, his tone full of affection and disbelief. He reached out to cup your face, pulling you closer until his lips pressed against yours, savoring the taste of himself on your lips.
Your confidence emboldened by the way he looked at you with dazed, lust filled eyes. His hands still rested on your waist, fingers brushing your skin as you leaned into him, your voice soft but teasing.
“Can I ride you?” you asked, pussy aching for him.
His lips curved into a smile, his thumbs drawing slow circles on your hips. “Anything you want, princess,” he murmured.
You bit your lip as you shifted, settling over his hard cock with a nervous laugh that he silenced by cupping your cheek. “Take your time,” he said.
When you finally sank down onto his length, his hands gripped your hips firmly, guiding you with a steady rhythm that sent shivers down your spine. The quiet moan he let out made you even wetter, and you instinctively leaned forward, resting your hands on his chest for balance.
“That’s it,” he murmured, his voice rough but filled with admiration. “You ride me so well, just like that.”
His praises made you bolder, and you bounced on his cock with more confidence, your breathing shallow as he let his hands roam, one sliding up to gently cup your tits. The warmth of his touch made you bite back a moan and his eyes darkened as he noticed.
“You’ve got to be quiet pretty girl,” he whispered, his hands still steadying you. “Think you can do that?”
You nodded quickly, though the feeling building inside you made it harder with every moment. His grip on your hips tightened, and he thrusted up into you, the two of you finding a rhythm that made it impossible to focus on anything but how he stretched your pussy. He was so big, your pussy was sure to remember the shape of his cock after you were done.
“I want to cum with you,” you admitted breathlessly, leaning down so your lips were close to his ear. “Inside me.”
Young-il’s breath hitched, his eyes meeting yours with pure lust. A slow smirk spread across his face. “Beg for it,” he whispered.
Your cheeks burned, but the desire in his gaze made you bold. “Please,” you murmured, leaning closer. “I want you to cum with me. Please.”
He groaned softly, his hands gripping your hips even tighter. “Good girl,” he praised, his voice unsteady. “Just hold on to me.”
The pleasure between you reached its peak as his praises and your whispered pleas filled the air. When the release finally came, it was almost overwhelming, and you buried your face against his neck to stifle the moan that threatened to escape. His hands held you firmly in place as he came with you, cum spurting inside you while you soaked his cock, his breaths ragged but filled with relief.
“You’re amazing,” he murmured after a long pause, brushing stray strands of hair from your face. His gaze softened as he pulled you closer, pressing a kiss to your temple.
You couldn’t help but smile, your heart racing as you settled against him. “So are you,” you whispered back, letting the moment linger in the quiet comfort of his embrace.
Not saying “I love you“ back to the Squid game men.
How will they react if you don‘t say it back? In what scenario would they not say it back to you?
Pairing: The Recruiter, Thanos, Nam-gyu, Dae-ho, Gi-hun, In-ho x gn!reader
Summary: Them not saying “I love you“, their reaction to you not saying “I love you“
Genre: fluff, a lil bit of angst sprinkled on top
(Pre-Squid game)
˚✧₊⁎⁺˳
Gong Yoo // The Recruiter // The Salesman
Tumblr media
♡— Him not saying I love you…
It barely ever happens, really. He adores everything about you, from your face, voice, body and the ground you walk on; that man is ready to worship you like a devoted follower would to the most merciful goddess. Therefor he would always be aware of how to make your day a little better, even if it‘s just a small “I love you” or a gentle kiss here and there.
The first thing you hear from him in the morning is a groggy voice mumbling a small “Good morning love...” into your ear while warm kisses were trailed down your back.
While standing in the kitchen and searching the fridge for any signs of a tasty breakfast, a small “I love you, I‘ll be back later!“ would echo slightly through the apartment as the front door closed.
Once, he did forget to say his usual I love you on the way out. He thought about how he possibly could forget? You‘re probably overthinking everything now and think what you might‘ve done wrong or do to offend him. You didn‘t, though! He was just too caught up in perfecting his appearance because his damn hair refused to obey and submit to his meticulous styling.
The poor man was almost scared to come home. As some sort of peace offering, he bought some of your favorite take-out food alongside some dessert, flowers and a new bracelet he thought you might like. Anything to try and make you know that he does really love you.
“Apologies, it completely slipped my mind. It will never happen again my sunshine. I love you.”
˚✧₊⁎⁺˳
♡— You not saying I love you back…
His face may be neutral and his expressions calculated but his features soften up immensely when you show even an ounce of affection. His smirk shifts into a dreamy smile, the crinkles around his mouth shifting and becoming bigger, his eyes twinkling just a little. He just can’t suppress when you even look at him.
Your kisses and words energise him, gift him life, so whenever you don’t give him that little boost of dopamine, he gets visibly more tense in a way.
The silence that followed after his usual “I love you my darling, I’ll be back later!” was almost eerie to him. He stuck his head back into the kitchen to check if you even heard him. You glanced back at him for a moment and gave your husband a dismissive head nod. So you did hear him?
Silently, he left the apartment and went on with his usual day during that time of the year. For some reason, today he is especially looking forward to slap his elders for loosing a damn children’s game. His face remained neutral and had his usual smirk on his face, but deep inside, he’s offended, confused, worried, stressed; all the negative emotions someone can feel after their spouse doesn’t reincorporate ones affection.
Do you want a divorce? Because hell no, he’d never let you go no matter how hard you
But once he got a little text message on his phone that read a simple: “Need cuddles in bed later pls. Got some snacks too. Love you.”, all of his worries washed away in an instant. You probably were still too sleepy to answer this morning.
A smile spread over his face as he thought about slipping into your arms tonight. Isn’t it ridiculous how he melt like putty in your hands?
“You forgot something this morning and it did worry me a lot. But it doesn’t matter, it’s silly anyway.”
Thanos // Su-bong // Player 230
Tumblr media
♡— Him not saying I love you…
It’s actually quite rare to hear Thanos say “I love you” word for word. He still feels awkward committing himself to the relationship you have and those three magic words feel so heavy on his tongue, so he’ll rephrase them to suit his level of comfort. “Love ya”, “Thanos loves you” and “Me too” are his ways to dodge the action to reincorporate those sweets words you shower him with.
Thanos only really says “I love you” if you two are alone, sober and you holding him in your arms. To be cradled by someone he admires, cares and loves so much makes him want to cry for some reason, but he suppresses those emotions and instead buries his face in your shoulder as your hand soothingly runs up and down his back.
Those are the times you hear a small “I love you…” being mumbled against your warm skin.
So quiet it’s almost unnoticeable, yet it was there. You know Su-bong needs time to get used to everything, so you’ll settle with a small audio message-rap in reply to your usual “I love you” text message.
“Back to the kitty ‘cause she kinda pretty, I can’t stop looking at her ti- ti- ti-face.. Anyways, thinking of you babygirl. Iloveyatoo.” (You barely caught him saying this the way how quietly he mumbled it into the mic)
˚✧₊⁎⁺˳
♡— You not saying I love you back…
It’s fine. It’s cool. You don’t have to reassure him every day that you love him, it’s totally fine. You still love him like you did the day before.
It causes a deep panic inside of Thanos when you don’t give him his usual “I love you” text in the morning after he had woken up. He kept checking his phone like a madman, while he was brushing his teeth, peeking his arm and head out of the shower in the middle of shampooing, staring at his text messages while microwaving himself an convenience store meal. Nothing.
Not wanting to reach out first and appear clingy, he decided to write you like he is not having a full blown eternal panic attack. A small voice message here, a picture of his food there, a selfie from the bottom to show off his double chin, anything really.
You replied like normal but still, his eyes searched for the three key words. I. Love. You.
Thanos doesn’t want to admit to himself or to anyone for that matter that your calls, texts, hell, you coming over is like the most addictive drug to him. And he had his share of all kinds of colourful drugs.
His foot was nervously tapping the ground while his finger kept ringing your poor doorbell until you were forced to answer. He gave you a close look up and down, his lips formed into a pout of sorts.
“You okay? You didn’t text me you love me this morning. It’s totally cool and all but like… do you want to break up with me or something?”
Nam-gyu // Player 124
Tumblr media
♡— Him not saying I love you…
Similar to Thanos, at first, Nam-gyu barely ever told you how much he loved you, liked you even. He just assumed you already knew and his actions were enough. A small side hug there and ruffling your hair here had to be enough for the rest of the week anyway.
He is guarded, afraid of commitment and to be frank in belief that you’re using him for the longest of time. Maybe you’re just “dating” him to get access to high-end drugs, all kinds of clubs or whatever else reason there is there to date him but for love.
You had to say those three magic words first for him to get comfortable with the thought that you are actually just want to date and love him. It came to him in the middle of a night shift at a random club he was supposed to promote. A moment of enlightenment.
Nam-gyu hid in a bathroom stall with his phone and ignored whatever the couple was doing next door, writing you a whole paragraph about what he was thinking, feeling, before deleting everything again because he thought he’d come off as some kind of pussy if he’d sent that.
His first time telling you how much he loved you was at your place. A casual evening watching some random movie you picked out while being arms deep in a bag of chips and dressed like a homeless person, Nam-gyu was staring up at you as if you were the most beautiful person in the universe even during this ungraceful moment of yours, admiring you in silence until finally…
“I love you.”
˚✧₊⁎⁺˳
♡— You not saying I love you…
Did he fuck up again? Do or say something wrong? Don’t you love him anymore? Was there someone else?? His thoughts go ballistic as he stared at the screen of his phone with a deadpan-expression, trying to shake the crippling fear and nervousness off while looking nonchalant.
Nam-gyu’s finger kept hovering over the call button to check on you in case something happened because there could be a whole other person talking to him by how there were no affirmations at all.
He doesn’t want to appear clingy or too attached to you as that may scare you off or even disgust you, so Nam-gyu’s casually mention that one time you didn’t say “I love you” while fidgeting with his ring, trying to appear indifferent about it while intensely watching your facial expression shift to try and detect if you’re lying about your reasoning or not.
Your boyfriend is afraid to not be good enough, too much, too little. Your little affirmations give him reassurance, every day a little more until he’s full convinced that you do really, really love him.
“Hey, uhhh. Did you forget anything today?… No? You sure? Mkay.”
Dae-ho // Player 388
Tumblr media
♡— Him not saying I love you…
Never happens. Either he is dead and not able to reply to you or already said it multiple times throughout the day. Dae-ho has separation anxiety and gets nervous when he doesn’t have you in line of his sight or not around him in general, that’s why he always tells you how much he loves you whenever he can.
Off to the bathroom? I love you. Bringing the trash out? I love you. Getting dressed? You’re gorgeous and I love you. You could be simply existing and Dae-ho would bury his face in your neck and mumble a soft I love you into your warm skin, his lips planting a soft kiss here and there.
Dae-ho is just a little scared about saying his usual affirmation in front of his family, mostly his father. He’s a very affectionate and physical man but he still wants to look like the tough-marine-son his dad wants to see.
His sisters know better though, they see how their brother’s eyes twinkle in delight when you help his mom out in the kitchen with the dinner.
He does make it up to you after coming home though. Your boyfriend will stuff the leftovers his mom gave him into the microwave and usher to you made yourself comfortable on the couch while he makes some preparations to completely pamper you for the rest of the evening.
Sometimes Dae-ho’ll even try to flirt a little but he’s still a little awkward in that department.
“Hey, do you want some snacks with that? A drink? O-Or am I enough of a snack…?”
˚✧₊⁎⁺˳
♡— You not saying I love you…
Every time Dae-ho tells you that he loves you, you always reply with equal enthusiasm. How could you not? That golden retriever of a man gets that almost childish smile of his whenever you kiss his cheek or just tell him that he looks handsome today.
Once, you tested how he’d react when you don’t give him his hourly dose of dopamine by deflecting or ignoring his touches.
As his arms securely snaked around your waist and gently pulled you against his torso, you paid him no mind and continued to stir the ramen in the food container. He watched the noodles move in circles and gave your waist a gentle poke, trying to pull your attention to him. Dae-ho’s eyes slowly dimmed and the edges of his smile turned downwards.
The silence made him seriously nervous. You could feel his rapidly increasing heartbeat drum against your back.
“Hey… is everything okay? Did I do something wrong? I’m sorry. Can you talk to me?…”
Gi-hun // Player 456 (post s1)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
♡— Him not saying I love you…
Gi-hun always reassures you of his love, even during arguments. He wants you to know that he cherishes and loves you for the rest of his life and that you are his everything. Whenever he doesn’t say I love you, something must’ve happened.
He has been missing for a whole week and you had no idea where your boyfriend went. Gi-hun didn’t leave a note, a voice mail, no nothing!
And after he returned and suddenly began giving you expensive gifts, the same boyfriend that used to ask you for money to get himself an convenience store dinner, now began buying you new headphones, bracelet and whatever else you even eyed.
It was nice, sure, but you were more worried about his mental state. He was paranoid and quiet, kept checking his whole body for some kind of tracker and barely ever spoke what was on his mind. Gi-hun began having panic attacks and you were barely able to leave his side because of how terrified he was to leave you alone.
He barely touched you, gave you kisses or affection. He changed after whatever happened during that week he went missing.
While running your fingers through his hair, trying to make him fall asleep after being awake for two days straight, he sleepily stared up at you through his dyed-red hair. His voice was quiet, broken almost.
“I’m sorry. Please… know that I love you. I love you so much.. Don’t leave me, please… please...”
˚✧₊⁎⁺˳
♡— You not saying I love you back…
Your boyfriend called out to you but you didn’t quite hear what he said, so you replied with an “yeah!” and just hoped that that’s an appropriate response to whatever he tried to tell or ask you. It wasn’t.
Gi-hun stood there for a couple of moments, waiting on your reply to yelling “I love you!” across the whole apartment. When nothing came, he didn’t call out to you again. You were probably busy with something or don’t want him with your right now, he gets that.
Later though, thoughts of self-doubt began to cook up inside his mind. As he bit all his nails to shreds he overthought about how you had enough of him now. Maybe you are falling out of love now after how the death games fucked up his mind and body. You’re surely fed up with his paranoia and secretive behaviour, how much he has been obsession over finding a weird salesman. Surely.
The metallic taste that spread inside his mouth after biting the skin surrounding his nails began to open and bleed finally pulled Gi-hun out of his self-destructive thoughts that continued to circle like a toy train. Picking up his throwaway phone and choosing the one contact he saved on every single burner phone he had as “Reason to smile ❤️” and pressing the call button.
“Gi-hun? What’s wrong?” Your voice forced a small smile to form on his face. He hesitated
“Hey. Just wanted to ask if I should bring some take out home tonight. That’s all.”
In-ho // The Frontman // Player 001
Tumblr media
♡— Him not saying I love you…
It’s purely just to tease you. When bored, In-ho will make you his greatest entertainment.
He likes making you annoyed and flustered, so he’ll intentionally ignore you just to make you react and pout at him adorably while he was trying so hard to keep his stone cold face and not break into a shit-eating grin and maybe even pull on your cheek to make you whine even more.
In-ho adores your whole being and cherishes all of your affections, so he’ll let himself get showered in them any tome he can.
Expect you to he cuddled up on his lap while he was leaning back in the leather chair, mumbling a complaint about how you covered his whole face in kisses but managed to miss the bridge of his nose. He will not allow you to move off his lap until you covered his whole face in kisses again as compensation for that mistake of yours.
So, In-ho’ll intentionally not give you affection so you pay even more attention to him. He is like a cat in that way weirdly enough.
Once you finally break his facade, the flood gates will open and you will be showered, bathed, drowned in his affection, physical and verbal.
“Fine. I’ll say it just because you’ve been so good to me today. I love you, my dearest, lovely darling.”
˚✧₊⁎⁺˳
♡— You not saying I love you back…
In-ho has a dedicated frequency on his walkie-talkie for you, so he can call in and ask you to come to his office for a kiss that cannot wait, to inform you that he is in the bedroom and retiring for the day or just to tell you that he loves you randomly throughout the day.
Of course, you’d always reply back with your own gadget, but to pay back his infinite teasing he has done to you, you decided to ignore him the way he sometimes does to you. Payback.
Your husband called into your frequency. “Dove, are you free right now? Come to my office, I miss you.” and so your game begins. You simply ignored his request and continued getting comfortable in your bed and all the sheets surrounding you, grinning to yourself as you awaited the next time In-ho calls in again, for which you don’t have to wait long for.
“Darling, I am waiting. Do you want me to send someone to pick you up?” Your grin widened as you heard how impatient he was slowly getting with the lack of your response. “I can see you in the bedroom.” That one caught you off guard. Did he install cameras in your shared bedroom??
Almost on cue, your bedroom door opened, revealing the masked Frontman. His shoulders were tense and you could feel his intense state through the mask. You stared back, not expecting how quickly your husband would cave in and visit you himself. Innocently, you batted your lashes at him.
In-ho slipped his mask off and carelessly tossed it on the nightstand. “Why are you ignoring me? Are you upset or just moody?” Unimpressed, you silently glared at him. He gave you an equally uninterested look and leaned down to your face to give you a small peck on your cheek. “Not enough. More.”
A chuckle escaped his lips as his lips cracked into a smile.
“Demanding, aren’t we? Fine. As you wish.”
💠
Author’s note. Thank you for reading <3
Watch me announce that I’m going to post In-ho’s yandere profile and proceed to get hit with the most ungodly group-assignment in Chemistry. Anyways, take this as an apology! Had to write a little fluff for them since the only thing I’m finding is smut 🙏😭 I’m not complaining but this fluff prompt came to me like a truck during a class of mine. It was originally inspired by this post and I made a similar one before for the Demon Slayer hashira. Check it out if you’re interested!!
Anyways, make sure to EAT, SLEEP and DRINK enough!!
Take care of yourselves <33
hiii, pleasure writing your request! hope it’s the way you imagined :)
Requests are open! i would also like to write something about Jun-ho or the salesman, so hmu
Tumblr media
When you jumped into the limousine after Gi-hun you didn’t consider its consequences. Jun-ho trusted you to keep your eyes on Gi-hun at all costs and you were going to keep your word, even when it meant making yourself vulnerable.
The gas was sweet on your tongue and Gi-hun already slumped down on the plush leather of the limo seats. But you were wide awake, somehow defying sleep’s influence, shaking, still processing what the deep voice implied and Gi-hun demanded. “Put me in the game. But leave her out of it.”
Those words were followed by a dry laugh. You knew that meant there was no way out of it now. You started whispering into the intercom to Jun-ho, saying how sorry you were. His panicked voice was cut off by you turning off the device while you prepared yourself for the Frontman’s reaction, closing your eyes and taking shallow breaths.
“No. Those are my games and my rules. Might make them more interesting, don’t you agree, player 456?”
Then the gas started rising up from the floor. Gi-hun grabbed your hand, rumbling about how sorry he was. You smiled wearily, pressing his hand. “It’s okay, Gi-hun.” You both knew it wasn’t. It was as far from ‘okay’ as possible.
His fingers went limp and you resigned, waiting for the inevitable. With muted senses you watched the tinted protection shield go down. Behind it was the man in the mask himself, looking at you over his shoulder. Just when his gloved hand hovered over his mask, shrugging it off, you were engulfed in darkness.
***
After the first game, you thought that nothing could surprise you anymore. As much as Gi-hun tried to keep you from all the bloodshed, even he couldn’t cover your eyes and ears every time there was a gunshot. Still pale and shaken, digging dirt and blood from beneath your nails, you sat on your bed with the provided food in your lap, watching your surroundings. At least Gi-hun could be happy he found here his long lost friend, with whom he was now talking. You still didn’t speak to anyone else. You were scared that if you did, they would be dead by tomorrow.
You barely noticed there was any commotion until the sudden silence peaked your interest. There was a skirmish between three guys, two of them working together, which made the outcome of the fight quite obvious. There was another player stalking towards the group, trying to break up the fight.
“I said save the lecture for your own damn kids.” one of the guys shouted at him. That’s when you noticed the player’s still frame, like a cat before launching at its prey. And you were right; within a blink of an eye, he put both of the guys on their backs, not even breaking a sweat. You looked closer at him, reading the number 001 on his back. Even from afar you could see how deadly calm he was while choking one of them. After a moment the rage left his body and he released his grip. You didn’t expect the applause that followed his actions. You exchanged a look with Gi-hun. Were you the only one who sensed something foreboding?
You turned your attention back to the food in your lap and decided that even though you weren’t hungry, you desperately needed the energy. But in your mind, all you could think about was the player 001. Was he a police detective like Jun-ho or a former marine like Jung-bae or Dae-ho? Or something else entirely?
It took you a while to get out of your head and notice that his bed was right next to yours. With a sigh, player 001 sat down, grabbing his unfinished food. Just then he noticed your searching look and gave you a tentative smile.
“Hello, sir,” you began, looking down at your hands. A sudden wave of nervousness came over you. “I’m Y/N. Do you mind telling me your name?”
“No bother, Y/N,” he replied and you stared at his lips, at how perfectly they formed your name. “I’m Young-il. Nice to meet you.”
“You too,” you grinned at him in response, holding out your hand that he tentatively shook.
“Nice moves there,” you pointed your chin to the middle of the dormitory where the fight took place. “You could teach me if you had time, I’m terrible in combat.” A lie. Jun-ho himself taught you how to hold yourself and how to hold a gun. You were just trying to find out who Young-il was.
“If we have time, yes.” he nodded absentmindedly, scooping up a mouthful of rice.
“Do you mind me asking? I was just wondering if you have any children.” you said carefully.
“No, I don't.” Young-il replied, suddenly his gaze sharp.
“Well, I just thought that, based on your reaction to what that other player told you-“ you searched for the answer in his closely guarded expression. “You lost your child, didn’t you?”
Young-il didn’t say anything to that, his cutlery going limp in his hand.
“I just- I’d know that look anywhere. I know it’s not something to bond over,” you gave a startled laugh, fidgeting under his everlasting gaze, “but if you’d like to talk about it-“
“Thank you.” He reached out and squeezed your hand. His touch was calloused and warm. “I mean it.”
You smiled softly, squeezing his fingers in response. “I know.”
Preparing yourself for lights out, you couldn’t ignore his lingering gaze following your movements. Thankfully Gi-hun approached you and sat next to you on the bed, guilt visible in his expression.
“I’m so sorry, Y/N. I never wanted to drag you into this. And I’ll do everything in my power to keep you safe-“
“Don’t worry about that, sir. I can take care of myself. Anyways, I was only following Jun-ho’s orders. It had nothing to do with you.”
Unconvinced, Gi-hun sighed and moved to his own bed, not having the energy at the moment to argue with you. You finally lay down, moving the thin blanket over your body, curling up on your side.
“I overheard you talking about Jun-ho, and I couldn’t help but notice how familiar that name sounds to me,” Young-il broke the silence, looking at you with curiosity in his eyes.
“Well, he used to work as a police detective so that’s why you might know him.”
“Oh, yes, that might be possible,” Young-il gave you a restrained smile. “And he is to you-?”
“A friend. I used to work as a secretary in his department, that’s all.” you smiled back.
“Oh, sorry to pry.” he looked at his hands.
“Not at all.” He looked into your eyes and your eyes crinkled with another smile. Only when he looked away did you turn around in your bed. A few minutes later you heard Gi-hun and Young-il talking and even though you didn’t want to, it was impossible to not overhear. Young-il was explaining the story of why he’s in the games and why he chose to continue playing - how his pregnant wife was gravely ill and he needed the money due to her medical bills. Somehow, this answer shocked you, even though you shouldn't have been thrown off by it. Of course he was married.
Only after the whole dormitory fell silent did you finally fall into a fitful sleep.
***
“Thank you, Young-il.” you whispered to him, gratefully touching his shoulder. Young-il turned his gaze your way and the corners of his eyes crinkled under the influence of a smile. Only his supportive words during the six legged pentathlon could calm you down, which resulted in you successfully completing your mini game. The memory flashed through your mind - tears welling in your eyes, hands shaking as you reached again and again for the gong-gi pebbles. You could sense your teammates’ growing unease but that even worsened your situation. After the third attempt, Young-il grabbed you by the elbow, leaning closer as he said: “Ignore everything else okay? Just listen to me and focus.”
You nodded, bewildered eyes setting again on the pebbles. You were kneeling in a puddle of blood, which didn’t exactly help calm your nerves.
“Just concentrate. I know you can do it. Look at you, all flushed red and focused. This look suits you.” The pebbles balanced on the knuckles of your hand, just one more throw. You looked up at Young-il, lips slightly parted. Were you hearing correctly? Maintaining eye contact, you threw the pebbles op with a sudden surge of confidence and caught them flawlessly. Everyone cheered and you were hoisted up by your team, but all you could hear were Young-il’s last words whispered in your ear: “Good girl.”
Now he was looking at you, this new tension between you two palpable.
“Anytime.”
***
While you tried to act nonchalant, it was just impossible. The way Young-il now watched you at all times drove you crazy, feeling his gaze like a branding on your body. You were grateful for keeping a watch during the lights off, thinking that it could distract you from your own dirty thoughts. But it was quite the contrary.
Overlooking the silent dark room, those words echoed in you even more soundly. Good girl. With a sigh you stretched out your legs, trying to ignore the tightness in your underbelly. You were annoyed with yourself. Why did the words of a stranger make you feel this way? Words of a married stranger, more like it.
“You seem distracted.”
You jumped at that impassive raspy voice. Thankfully, once Young-ho sat down next to you, he couldn’t notice your flushed cheeks due to the impassable darkness. Your shoulders touched and to your surprise he didn’t immediately move away.
“Oh, it’s nothing, really.” you smiled with your head bowed, nearly chuckling at how clueless he must be.
There was an awkward silence following your reply, so, without thinking about it, you said: “Thank you again for today, truly. You helped me a lot.”
Young-il looked at you, searching for something in your expression. Apparently he found it. “You think about that a lot, don’t you?”
“Sorry?” you stumbled over your words, not knowing how to react, what to say.
“My words alone made you quiver. Now imagine what my tongue could do.” he whispered, teasing you, a spark in his eyes.
“Young-il-“ you breathed out, suddenly aware of how close his face was to yours. You felt your underwear getting wetter by the minute. But you put that all in the back of your mind as you said: “I know you are married. Expecting a child, even. You shouldn’t say things like that.”
He blinked, taken aback. “Does that bother you? Or are you bothered by the effect I have on you?”
You sighed, looking away from his handsome face. Was he sent here just to test your boundaries?
“I still have enough self control to know right from wrong.” But your body wasn’t in line with your thoughts.
Young-il stared at you for a moment, then sighed, irritated. “My wife and my child are gone. I just don’t enjoy talking about them in past tense. I joined the games out of misery, nothing more. Are you happy now?”
You froze, looking at the way his arms formed into fists at his sides. It was like having ice cold water poured all over you.
“Young-il, I’m so-“
“Don’t be. It’s been a long time.” Eyes meeting, he smiled at you tentatively. You squeezed his warm hand and he relaxed, loosening his fist.
“Right now, I don’t care about anything but you.” He caressed your cheek with the back of his hand, tucking a strand of hair behind your ear. Moving closer, he kissed the bruise already blossoming on your jaw. And you let him.
“I don’t want to scare you away with my… infatuation. But right now, I’m so desperately weak for you.” Your breathing hitched as he moved his lips to your ear.
Just when you thought he would kiss you, he suddenly pulled away.
“I’ll take over the watch. You should sleep, muster some energy for tomorrow.” You nodded as if in a trance. He helped you stand up and led you to your bed. Young-il left you standing there, leaving only the whisper of his lips branding your cheek.
***
The third game was a whirlwind of movement. Only thanks to Young-il were you still alive and breathing. Every time a number was announced, he firmly grasped your wrist and dragged you with him wherever he went. Not that you were complaining - you were so overstimulated by all the commotion that you were glad you could keep up with him.
When one player tried to separate you from him, Young-il bared his teeth and kicked him square in the chest. “She’s mine,” There it was, the cold expression and clenched jaw. Even though you were on the brink of dying, a shiver ran down your spine.
You made it safe with your group into one of the rooms and soon were walking out to play the last round. You knew exactly what the woman’s voice was going to announce and you were right: “Two.”
Young-il was already moving, pushing people out of your way. Everything seemed to go smoothly, until you reached the room; a player was already inside.
“Get out.” Young-il growled and reached the man, trying to get him on his legs and out of the room.
“We were here first,” the player whimpered. You noticed other players running to the door you were standing next to and panicking, you closed it, pushing your whole body against it.
You looked over your shoulder at Young-il, wanting to see if he was any closer to pushing the player out through the doors. But you froze when you saw he was holding the man in a headlock, choking him. All you could do was stare.
Young-il was looking straight back at you. And with one smooth motion of his arms he broke the man’s spine, leaving him staring at the ceiling, going limp in Young-il’s grip.
“I’d do anything for you, Y/N.” Young-il said, slowly getting up. You couldn’t tear your gaze from the lifeless body on the ground.
Only when he knelt in front of you did your eyes meet his. He grabbed your cold, shaking hands, kissing the knuckles while staring into your eyes.
“You’re scaring me,” you whispered, a tear rolling down your cheek.
“You poor thing,” Young-il said absentmindedly, wiping your tears away. “I can keep you safe, Y/N. I promise. All I’ve done was to prove that to you.”
“It’s scaring me how far you’re willing to go for me,” you sobbed, fighting the urge to flinch when he caressed your cheek. Still, you couldn’t find a reason to hate him. All the things he was saying were true, he did all of this for you, he killed a man for you, for your own safety.
The lock on the doors clicked and you closed your eyes, letting yourself be guided by Young-il out of the room. You knew that if you looked once more at the corpse, you would never let Young-il touch you again.
So you kept your eyes closed, choosing the easier path.
***
When the lights went out, all you could do was hold Young-il as hard as possible and count the minutes until the slaughter was over. Head against his chest, you concentrated on the sound of his heartbeat, every other sound pushed into the background. His hand was on your lower back, holding you as close as possible.
“I want to go home.” you whispered, clutching the front of his T-shirt like a small child. It was all a mistake. You shouldn’t be here.
“Okay, you will, okay? When we disarm the guards, you stay hidden, but once we take control of the rest, you have to come to my side, you understand?”
You nodded into his chest. Young-il kissed the crown of your head before leaving you under the bed as the guards tried to take control of the situation.
After many gunshots fired, you were crawling to the group of players formed in front of the main doors. Without hesitation you claimed one of the smaller guns for yourself. Somehow, the familiar weight of it calmed you down a bit. Young-il looked at you with tenseness.
“Keeping secrets, I see.” In reply you just loaded the gun, staring back.
Gi-hun looked your way over his shoulder, sending you a quick nod. The group exited the room, moving quickly down the corridor. Young-il stayed back, moving slower than the rest. Once the first guards got in your way, he pushed you to the side, saying: “This way!” Looking over your shoulder, everyone was shooting at the enemy, moving the other way. You looked back at him, unsure.
“You wanted to go home, didn’t you? Well, this is it.” seeing how indecisive you were, he sighed, “You trust me, don’t you?”
Hesitant, you followed his lead. You took the side stairs up and you got a bad feeling in your stomach. Young-il didn’t bother to check the corners, nor the other stories as you climbed the stairs. He walked like someone who knew this place, someone who wasn’t scared that he might be shot.
You stopped in your tracks, aiming your gun with a trembling hand. Young-il, upon noticing you were not following him, turned around. There was something like betrayal shining through his demeanour.
“You’re going to explain.” you said, trying to keep your voice and hand steady.
“Oh, Y/N, I think you already know.” Young-il pointed out, a corner of his lips curling up. He took one step towards you.
“What. Is. Your. Real. Name.” you said through gritted teeth, cocking your gun.
“Hwang In-ho.”
All this time, he was the long lost brother Jun-ho was trying to find. You felt the sting of betrayal in your bones.
“Was any of this real?” Tears stung in your eyes and you hated yourself for being so vulnerable.
“Oh, baby,” In-ho sighed, walking to you, kneeling in front of you again. The muzzle of the gun touched his forehead, which he seemed unbothered by.
“Everything.” he said, looking up at you.
“I keep trying to hate you,” you whispered, trying to muster at least some hatred that would make you pull the trigger. “It would be so much easier if I did.”
In-ho reached out and gently took the gun from your trembling hand. He threw in on the ground, making it slide on the floor.
“I know,” he whispered, grabbing your hips with his hands. He stared at you yearningly. There was a burning ache in your chest clawing its way into your throat.
“Stop looking at me like that.”
“I can’t. And I don’t think you want me to either.”
The worst part was that he was right.
“I know I should stay away from you, but I can’t. It’s not that simple.” A sob tore out of your throat, making it hard for you to breathe. There were so many emotions in you that your head was spinning. All you knew was the fact that you couldn’t hate the one person who deserved it the most.
“Stay with me, love. I beg you,” In-ho said hoarsely, gripping you harder, trying to make you understand. “You will be safe with me. I will not break that promise.” His eyes were filled with hope. “You felt it too, I know.”
You closed your eyes, composing yourself and your thoughts. You knew it was wrong. But you always had a weakness for the forbidden.
In-ho stood up, taking your face in his hands. He kissed your forehead, your temples, your jaw. And when he kissed you on the lips, you let yourself melt into the touch, forgetting everything else.
“You’ll be the death of me.” you whispered against his lips and he smiled into the kiss, knowing you were his.
Thanos
Get ready to be crushed
Lays on-top of you
And does not let you get up for anything
“Let me get up for a second I-“
“No.”
While laying on-top of you he takes the opportunity to kiss your neck or chest
If you do end up getting up he whines until you lay back down
Type of Bf to use your butt or thighs as a pillow 😔✊
Randomly bites you
Has cute aggression 100%
Very deep sleeper
Moves so much in his sleep so if you guys fall asleep cuddling at least one of you is gonna be upside down when you wake up
Will give you pda anytime anywhere he does not care
I’m literally Dr. Seuss
In-ho
Not very big on cuddling
He tolerates it for you tho 😚
Even tho cuddling isn’t really his thing he LOVES when you sit on his lap
Especially when you’re facing him
Also likes when you lay on his chest
Literally just lets you cling to him and do whatever
Acts like he doesn’t care for it but we all know the truth
When he’s tired he just completely lets his guard down
That will probably be the only time he initiates cuddling
Other wise you’re kinda on your own
Se-mi
Loves laying on your chest !!
Gives you neck kisses when she’s the big spoon 😏
Also a biter
Likes to have you on her lap
Touches your tummy while cuddling
you cannot stop her 😡
Clingiest Gf you can have !!
Takes every opportunity to hug you from behind and just stays like that for as long as possible
When you lay on her chest she likes to play with your hair
My babbyyyyyy
Myung-gi
Struggles to sleep if you aren’t next to him
Religiously the big spoon
He likes to put his hands up your shirt while cuddling and his excuse is
“My hands were cold 🙁”
“Damn right they are 😡”
Yaaaa we all know his real intentions ✊
Neck kisses pt.2 !!
Another one that uses your thighs as a pillow
Moves a lot in his sleep as well but stays holding you the whole time somehow
Loves you being on his lap pt.2
The type to rub your thighs while watching a movie or some sht😭😔🙁😭😡😔😔😡
I want him so bad
Gives you so much kisses !!
I need someone like him omg 😔
Jun-ho
Loves cuddling face to face if that makes sense 😭
Likes to hear about your day while just holding you
Listens intently and plays with your hair as you speak
He also enjoys when you lay on his chest
The weight of your body calms him down and he feels better knowing you’re safe in his arms
If he’s feeling extra vulnerable that day he’ll lay his head on your chest
Probably gets super exhausted after work sometimes so he just falls asleep the second he gets home
and when you join him in bed he immediately wraps his arms around you
Overall I don’t think he’d be to big on cuddling but he also wouldn’t mind
Hyun-ju
She’s just a big teddy bear
Especially when you’re alone with her
She isn’t too big on pda so in public she probably just sticks to holding your hand
But in private you’re getting cuddles, kisses, you name it
There will be a lot of giggling going around
Loves if you braid or play with her hair while cuddling
Lets you try out new hairstyles on her to see which one looks the prettiest 🤭
Loves when you lay on-top of her
When the both of you go to bed she HAS to be touching you
No matter if it’s holding hands or being straight up on top of eachother
Poor girl just needs you 😔
Mi-na
I feel like she wouldn’t really care for being touchy with anyone but if it’s her s/o
Sign her up !!
Definitely small spoon
She wants to be treated like a princess 😋
Puts her legs over your lap and just pouts at you till you rub them
If she’s feeling a little frisky she’ll get you to put your head on her chest and then just cling onto you
Loves giving you kisses !!
ugh I want her
Cannot fall asleep if you aren’t in bed with her
˚ ⋆ .Squid Game characters x Flirty!reader Headcannons
Tumblr media
˖⁺‧₊ ˚✧Hc squid game characters with a flirty reader.˚ ⋆
Character: Thanos, Myung-gi, Gi-hun, in-ho, jun-ho, Sae-byeok, dae-ho.
Tumblr media
-Thanos (Choi su-bong)
Tumblr media
● If you flirt with him, oh, he's gonna flirt with you back, and he's not gonna stop. He'll flirt right back, one-upping up your flirty comments with exaggerated gestures. He'll say some corny shit like, "Is it getting hot in here, or is it just you, senorita?" He teases. He loves attention and knows how to turn it into a game.
●He'll randomly just start rapping just for you, making sure the attention is all on you. "Yeah, she's so fine, no need to pretend, got me rapping for her, again and again," he'd rap while laughing.
● Thanos loves when you react with his flirty antics, and he'll keep pushing boundaries. He thrives on attention and will keep making bold moves to keep your attention on him. He's not subtle with it he'll always make sure you know he's interested, even if it's a bit obnoxious.
● He might be playful and goofy and making jokes. He's really stubborn if you play hard to get. He'll keep coming at you, pushing your buttons just to see how you'll react. He just loves the chase.
-Myung-Gi
Tumblr media
●Myung-gi isn't the type to outwardly flirt back, but he'll notice you more than anyone else. If you flirt with him, he'll most likely respond with a long, intense gaze, his expression unreadable. He doesn't get flustered, but he's intrigued by your flirty personality and the attention.
● if you continue to flirt with him, his responses would be quiet and calculated. "You seem different." He might say showing interest he isn't loud or bold he just wants to keep things mysterious and make you wonder if he's truly interested
● he's the type to observe before making any moves. He wouks keep you on your toes with his silent and subtle actions. While he's not overt with his affections,he'll make an effort to be around you more often, taking mental notes of your reactions
●He's not going to say to much outright, but if he's drawn to you, he might offer small, thoughtful comments like, "You stand out among the rest." Or someone that feels cryptic yet genuine.
-Gi-hun
Tumblr media
●Gi-hun would likely be nervous and awkwardly if you flirt with him, especially in such a dangerous environment. He'd provide laugh nervously, unsure how to rest, "Uhh... thanks?" Hell say, completely unsure of how to handle the attention.
● Despite his awkwardness, gi-hun would be genuine in his responses. If you continue flirting with him, he might get more comfortable, offering sweet but clumsy compliments. "You really think I'm.. worth your time?" He might ask, unsure of himself but flattered.
● as he grows more comfortable with you, he might begin to flirt back with his own goofy charm. "I'm not the best guy, but I'm glad you're giving a chance," he might say, trying to make you smile.
● His flirtation might be quiet but sincere. He might offer to help you with something or share food, showing affection in ways that aren't loud but are deeply caring.
-In-ho
Tumblr media
●In-ho, is always in control. He's never caught off guard, and he'll never be overwhelmed by flirtation. If you flirt with him, his response will be calm and composed, and even a little cryptic. He honestly finds the flirty tension a game.
●He might use his flirting to keep you intrigued, but it's all a part of his bigger plan. He'll charm you, only to make you feel like you're in his grasp. "You don't realize how much power you have, do you?" He might say while gently manipulating the conversation.
●He won't overtly show interest, but you can tell he enjoys having your attention. He might drop hints about how you're a valuable player in the game, subtly praising your actions, all while keeping you at arm's length, maintaining the upper hand.
●He won't hesitate to make the flirtation feel dangerous, and if it's playful, it's always with an undertone of power and control. He might enjoy the chase, but he's always thinking one step ahead.
-Hwang jun-ho
Tumblr media
●Honestly the flirtation might catch him off guard. He's not used to attention being drawn to him in that way, so he might act a little surprised. "Why are you flirting with me in a place like this?" He asks, trying to stay focused.
●Despite his initial surprise, he would still be protective. He would probably respond to your flirtation by trying to shield you from danger in submitting ways.
●His flirtation would be hesitant at first, but over time, if you show genuine interest, he might soften, but he'd still have his guard up.
● if you continue to flirt with him, you might find that hwang jun-ho shows his affection through small acts of kindness, like bringing you someone to eat or standing up for you when others threaten you. He may not say much, but his actions would speak volumes.
-Dae-ho
Tumblr media
●When you flirt with him, it throws him off. He responds politely at first, thinking you're just teasing. "Persistent, aren't you?" He says with a small smile.
●your playful remarks or brushing against him make him freeze for a second, followed by a subtle blush. He clears his throat and tries to redirect the focus, but his stiff posture gives him away.
●He's fiercely protective of you, standing close in dangerous situations or subtly moving between you and others. If someone flirts with you he won't confront them directly but will watch them with a quiet intensity.
●Over time, he starts to enjoy our teasing, responding with calm, understated flirtation that catches you off guard. "If you're trying to distract me it's working."
●In quieter times, he softens, showing affection through small but meaningful gestures-offering you food, ensuring you rest, standing watch.
●Dae-ho is so cute, loyal, and protective, making you feel deeply cherished even without grand gestures. His calm demeanor compliments your playful energy.
-Sae-byeok
Tumblr media
● if you flirt with Sae-byeok, she'll probably be taken off guard. She's not used to receiving attention in such a forward way.
● Sae-byeok might get sarcastic with her responses, trying to deflect the flirtation. She'd tease you, turning the tables to see how you respond. "If you think I'm impressed by yourcharm, you're wrong." She says, but you'll know it's half-joking.
●Though Sae-byeok's hard to crack, the more you flirt with her, the more she starts to soften, though she'll never admit it. If you show genuine interest, she might get a little less cold over time, even if she'll always keep up her tough exterior.
●After a while,Sae-byeok may surprise you with moments of quiet affection- like a unexpected compliment or a protective gesture when you need it. Her flirting is more subtle, but when she does show her interest in you, it'll be in an unexpected but meaningful way.
He has endless stamina- being an ex-marine, he can go for multiple rounds
For him sex isn’t just physical- it’s emotional. He pours all of his love and devotion into every touch and kiss.
I think he would be loud but not too loud- he’d moan and whimper but it wouldn’t be like extremely loud
His favourite positions would be either missionary, cowgirl or the butterfly because seeing your face and reactions is a must for him
He would want you guys to have a safe word
He would always make sure your okay during it and if you’d show any sign of being uncomfortable or in pain he would instantly stop and ask if your okay and if you want to stop
Slow and steady, he can go fast if you want him to but he likes to take his time
HAIR PULLING!!! Please tug his hair a little it turns him on definitely- but I don’t think he’d tug your hair since he is afraid he’d accidentally hurt you
I think he’d be open to having period sex as long as you’re okay with it because he just wants you to feel good during your period if your cramps are bad:(
Aftercare king! Dae-Ho is big on aftercare. He’ll clean you up, get you water, and pull you into his arms. He loves holding you after sex. Stroking your hair as you fall back to sleep
eye contact during it!
Various Squid Game Characters x injured gn!reader
(Includes Gi-hun, In-ho/Young-il, Thanos, and Dae-ho)
!warnings: canon-typical violence, use of Y/N, cursing, in Dae-ho's specifically it is kinda implied that reader was using the women's bathroom but it doesn't say anything about the actual gender of the reader
a/n: this is most likely noncompliant to the canon, but it's fine. i might do another part with different characters later, but for now, i wanted to get this out asap. hope you enjoy!
Gi-hun:
- Winners don't get hurt, right? That's what you thought, but here you were trudging back to the dorms with a gunshot wound. A bullet must have ricocheted off the pavement because something grazed your side.
- You were one of the last ones to complete your game of marbles, so you walked back to the dorm alone.
- When you entered the room, he could tell there was something wrong, but he assumed it was shock from the cutthroat nature of the game. He'd been through it before, and he was still shaken to his core.
- You walked over to the area your group had claimed for themselves. You sat on the ground, arms wrapped around yourself. It looked like you were hugging yourself, a common self-soothing practice, but it was really just a way to put pressure on the wound covertly.
- He noticed how quiet you were being even after the remaining members had started chatting.
- "Y/N, I'm glad you made it out of there." He said. He watched your reaction closely.
- You nodded, murmuring a soft "Thanks, you too."
- He continued to watch you, concern growing with each passing moment. You started to grow pale as you sat there. Your breathing was labored despite your attempt to hide it.
- "Hey, are you okay?" He asked. It was a stupid question, and he knew it. How could you be okay here? Especially after a game like marbles.
- He didn't expect you to shake your head. You looked like you were going to cry. He moved closer to you, blocking the view of the others in an attempt to provide some level of privacy.
- "What's wrong?" You tried to speak but you couldn't get the words out. "Hey, what happened?" He asked. He lowered his voice, but you could hear his tone become more frantic.
- You wordlessly pulled your hand away from your wound, showing him the crimson staining it and your clothes.
- You noticed his gaze become distant. He looked at you and saw Sae-byeok, and you knew exactly what was happening. He hadn't told you about her specifically, but he had mentioned a close friend being injured. You hated bringing back those memories for him.
- You started crying, sputtering out a string of apologies. "I'm sorry. S-sorry. I didn't mean to. I didn't-"
- That made him snap back to reality. He cut you off. "No, no, it's not your fault. You're gonna be okay." He said quickly. He helped you lay back so he could get a better look at it.
- "Guys, we need some help over here." He said, keeping his voice low. It got their attention regardless.
- "Can one of you get me one of the bedsheets?" Gi-hun asked, to which Jung-bae rushed to get. Jun-hee passed over an unopened water bottle. "Here! I didn't drink it with lunch so I could save it for later." She said.
- Dae-ho took the request for help in a different way. "Hello?! Can we get a doctor in here!? Someone's-"
- "Dae-ho, stop it!" He snapped. The man's face changed to a look of shock. "They won't come. Trust me." He said softer. Dae-ho muttered a soft, "Sorry."
- You continued to cry, trying to keep yourself quiet. "I'm gonna need to pull this up, okay?" he asked, fingers grabbing the fabric of your shirt. You nodded, grimacing as he peeled the fabric off the wound.
"Y/N.... what happened?" He asked. Jung-bae and Jun-hee were folding the bedsheet to make it manageable to wrap around you.
- "I-I think a bullet ricocheted or something. I don't know. I'm sorry." You stammered, flinching at the cold feeling of the water as he poured some onto it. It wasn't nearly as bad as he thought, but it certainly wasn't pleasant.
- He bandaged you up the best he could with the supplies on hand. Once he was done, you sat up with a wince. "Careful." He warned, but you could hear his playful tone returning to him.
- You leaned into him, head resting on his shoulder. "Thank you. All of you." You you said softly, looking over to your other allies. Gi-hun smiled softly. "Get some rest, okay? I'll keep watch." He said, pressing a soft kiss to the top of your head.
- Be prepared to hardly leave his sight for the rest of the games. He swears to protect you no matter what. Even when more selfish players would suggest he leave you behind. And they did suggest it, resulting in him lashing out at them. That was clearly a sore spot, as their words reminded him of Sang-woo.
- That night, he had a nightmare about the last night in his first game. The events played out as normal, but with you in the place of Sae-byeok. It was harrowing, to say the least. He may have failed her, but he will do anything to make sure you made it out of here.
- He woke up with a start, breathing faster than usual. You were in the bed pushed closer to his. You turned toward him slowly. "What's going on?" You asked in a hushed whisper.
- "It's nothing, go back to sleep." He responded. You knew better, but you didn't press him any further. However, you did carefully roll toward him, resting your head on his chest.
- He was going to scold you for moving too much, but you quickly returned to sleep. He just smiled like a lovesick fool and got some much-needed sleep.
In-ho/Young-il
(calling him young-il for clarity's sake)
- It all happened very quickly. Mingle was the most chaotic game yet. After the first two rounds, you quickly grew overwhelmed. The spinning platform didn't make the situation any better. You were getting a bit disoriented, but you were able to mask it fairly well.
- When the voice called out six, your group devised your plan to split up. When you had your plan, you ran to follow Young-il toward a room. As you stepped off the platform, your ankle twisted in a way it definitely wasn't supposed to.
- You fell to the ground, yelling out an expletive as your body hit the ground. Young-il turned around instantly, and upon seeing you, he told the group to run ahead and claim a room.
- He moved closer to you. "What happened?" He asked, his voice loud to cut through the chaos. He offered you a hand to help you up.
- You took his hand, pulling yourself up. You groaned upon bearing weight on your foot. "Twisted my ankle." You said through gritted teeth.
- He wrapped an arm around you, helping to support your weight. "I know it hurts but we have to move." He said before beginning to move. You tried to keep up as much as you could.
- You both barely made it into the door before it slammed shut. You leaned against the wall, lifting your foot up to give it a break. "Thanks." You said breathlessly.
- You limped back over to the platform. You didn't want to make it obvious that you were hurt in fear that they would leave you behind. It's survival of the fittest, after all.
- Young-il turned to face you when he got on top of the platform. He reached for your hand, interlocking your fingers. "Stay with me, okay?" He said softly, but you could tell it was more of an order than a request. You nodded.
- When the merry-go-round stopped and the number was announced, his arm wrapped around you to support you again. It was two, so it was just you and him you needed to worry about. You were trying your best to keep up with him. This was high stakes, as there definitely weren't enough rooms in this round.
- Around halfway to the room, you stumbled to the floor. He turned to help you up, but you insisted, "Go claim a room, I'll get there." You said. He was hesitant to leave you, but he knew your idea was the best odds for survival.
- You forced yourself up to a standing position. You took a deep breath and started limping as fast as you could.
- Some other player reached Young-il's room before you did. He snuck his way into the room. "Hurry up and shut the door man!" He shouted.
- Young-il's blood boiled. "Get the fuck out of here before I make you get out." He spat, turning to face the man.
- The man stood his ground. "They are just gonna hold you back, man. They're deadweight. You're better off with-" He was cut off by Young-il grabbing him roughly.
- You made it to the door, getting there with a few seconds to spare. You looked at Young-il. "Throw him out, quickly." You said.
- Young-il made his choice. This man didn't deserve the chance to live. He wrapped an arm around the man's throat, cutting off his airway. "Shut the door." He said, clearly straining.
- Your eyes widened, but you listened. You slammed the door shut. Soon after, you heard a sickening pop, and the player went limp. You didn't say a word. "Player 332, eliminated."
- You wouldn't say the action scared you. You wanted him to be thrown out, which would have resulted the same way. But the personal way that Young-il took the man's life without hesitation was... concerning.
- No matter what just happened, he kept you alive. Even if it was gruesome, it was the reason you are still alive. You took a deep breath, reveling in the fact that the game was over. He pulled you into a hug, let out a relieved sigh.
- "Thank you." You murmured softly. You pulled away when the doors unlocked and swung open. You limped toward the door, frantically searching the crowd for your allies. Young-il stood behind you, doing the same.
- When you started to move toward the exit, he offered you his arm again. You shook your head. You wanted to try to walk on your own, so you only took hold of his arm for balance when you needed it.
- You were scared of looking weak to the others. You already had one player try to get rid of you. You weren't deadweight. You tried to mask any signs that you were in pain, and that worked to hide the injury from most players.
- But Young-il knew what was going through your head, and he wanted to make sure you felt comfortable. When they received dinner with the forks, he started to use the fork as a means to get leverage to tear up the sheet.
- You were puzzled with what he was doing until he brought it over to you. "Can I wrap that up for you? Might give you a bit of stability." He said.
- You were shocked at his thoughtfulness. You really thought you weren't going to get sympathy. You nodded, stretching out your leg. The makeshift ace bandage worked well enough.
- He protected you both in the game and outside of it when he resumed his role as the Front Man. You found extras of your favorites in the tins your dinner came in. Your team was paired with the weakest group in Tug of War, so you had to do the least amount of work for the victory.
- Despite the fact you thought he was dead, he was still in your corner.
Thanos/Su-bong:
- Being an ally with the most chaotic and violent player in the games should have granted you a high level of protection, but being romantically involved with him should make you virtually untouchable. Keyword being "should."
- You ended up cornered in the hall on the return to the dorms from the bathroom. You found yourself pinned to the wall by your throat by another O player.
- "You finally don't have that purple-headed asshole to protect you, huh?" He spat, smirking in your face.
- You tried to struggle against him, leading him to tighten your grip on your throat. "Nuh-uh. You aren't getting away from me until I'm done with you." He said.
- You couldn't really get a sound out to alert anyone, and even if you could, you were probably out of earshot of the players in the dorms.
- The way Thanos found out was overhearing a conversation from two other players. "Where's 438?" One asked. The other snickered. "Taking care of Thanos's bitch." He said with a sick grin.
- Thanos jumped up, scaring Min-su with his sudden movement. "The fuck did you say?" He yelled, moving toward the pair. They realized they messed up and ran off. Thanos wanted to go after them, but reason told him to let them go. For now.
- He rushed over to the hallway, Nam-gyu followed with a roll of his eyes, and Min-su looked around before timidly walking toward the hallway, hovering in the doorway.
- In a last-ditch effort to free yourself, you let your knees give out and tried to duck out of his grasp. It allowed you to take a gasp for air, but you couldn't get away. He slammed you back into the wall, and pain radiated through your skull.
- You grabbed his wrist and tried to dig your nails into his skin. He swung his other hand to strike you in the face. You cried out from this, a noise that made Thanos move even faster.
- "Hey asshole, what the fuck are you doing?" He yelled, running up to him and shoving him away from you. You scurried back toward Nam-gyu.
- Thanos saw red. You almost couldn't watch as he kicked the player repeatedly in the stomach. "You motherfucker." He snarled.
- After a few moments, it became harder for you to watch. Nam-gyu interrupted him first. "Thanos, leave it." He urged. He didn't acknowledge him. You heard the man sputter and spit up blood. "Su-bong, please." You pleaded, voice somewhat raspy from the pain in your throat.
- He stopped for a moment, taking a deep breath before giving him one more kick and turning to leave. He instantly grabbed your hand as you walked back to the dorms.
- Before you entered the dorm, he stopped in the hallway and pulled you into a hug. He didn't want any other player to recognize that vulnerability. You felt him take a shuddering breath. "It's okay, I'm okay." You said softly.
- When you four got settled in the dorm, Thanos was noticeably quieter than usual. You caught him staring at you multiple times, likely watching the bruise form on your face and neck.
- After around an hour, he suddenly remembered the other guys who knew about your attack. He suddenly tensed up, taking a deep breath before going to stand up. You grabbed his hand. "Don't. Please."
- He sighed before pouting. You rolled your eyes at him. "Fine." He said, dragging out the word. You leaned over and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek. He grinned.
- That night, it was hard for him to sleep. He found himself trying to listen for every noise to assess for any threats. Eventually, he was tired enough that he dragged himself out of his bed and moved to yours.
- He climbed into your bed. You woke up rather quickly, turning toward him. He had scared you slightly, but you didn't mention it. "What's wrong?" You murmured quietly, still half asleep.
- "Couldn't sleep." He replied. He wrapped his arms around you. It was soothing to be sure you were safe. You fell back to sleep soon after, and he followed suit.
- Waking up next to each other felt amazing. You just wished that it was under different circumstances, seeing as you awoke to the music signaling the next game would begin.
Dae-ho:
- You had been in the bathrooms when the brawl began. When you heard the commotion, you wanted to run out to the others. Safety in numbers, right?
- You got to the doorway of the bathroom exit, taking a few steps out before you were noticed by a player. An O. He seemed uninterested until his eyes flickered toward the red badge on your jacket.
- He grew a sick grin. "Looks like I'm gonna take out some trash." He said, brandishing the fork he had from dinner.
- He moved to stab toward your face, and you put your arms up to shield from the blow. You cried out as it embedded in your flesh. You kicked his kneecap, causing him to let go of the fork. He stumbled onto his knees. Without hesitation, you kicked him in the balls, making him scream out.
- You rushed into the other, luckily empty, bathroom. You locked yourself in one of the far stalls, sitting up on the tank of the toilet so your feet wouldn't be seen. You started unspooling toilet paper off the roll and packing it around the fork, which was still in your skin. You didn't think you would be able to take it out yourself without fainting.
- When Dae-ho heard a player run out from the hall yelling about an attack, he looked around and quickly realized that you weren't in the dorms. "Guys, Y/N is back there." He said frantically.
- He went to rush there, but he stopped when Young-il spoke. "I wouldn't go after them. Who knows what you'll be walking into?" He warned.
- Dae-ho glared over at him. "So I'll just leave them back there on their own? Fuck that." He shot back. He was happy to see Jung-bae stand up. "Marines have to have each other's backs, right? I'm with you." He said.
- The two rushed down the hall, dodging someone who was fleeing from the fight covered in someone's blood. When they got to the bathrooms, Dae-ho tried his best not to look in. He didn't want to be reminded of the past he tried to bury.
- Jung-bae scanned the room. "I don't think they're in there." He said. Dae-ho abandoned any care for societal norms and swung open the women's bathroom, since it seemed that only the men's bathroom broke out into a brawl.
- "Y/N?" He called out, starting to walk toward the stalls. The older man stayed by the door to keep it closed. The last thing they needed was those O bastards realizing 3 Xs cornered themselves in the bathroom.
- "Dae-ho?" You responded. You didn't move from your spot, scared it was some kind of trick. You hadn't been able to calm down since locking yourself in. You were terrified that man would come for revenge.
- He let out a sigh of relief. "Yeah, it's me. Where are you?" He asked. You got off of your seat. Your uninjured arm trembled as you tried to unlock the door, eventually managing the feat.
- He rushed over after the door swung open. He tried not to look overly shocked by the sight he saw. Your wound didn't seem to be bleeding that badly, but it was enough blood to make him somewhat queasy. But there was also an anger boiling up inside of him.
- "I-I didn't know what to do. So I... I didn't t-touch it. I couldn't." You spoke frantically, stumbling over your words.
- His eyes softened upon seeing the state you were in. "Hey. It's gonna be fine. You're safe now. I'm gonna help you, okay?" He said, trying to console you.
- He started to get a wad of the paper and held in on the side of the fork. "This is probably going to hurt, but I need to do this." He warned. You nodded, squeezing your eyes shut so you didn't need to see it.
- He tried to remove it as gently as he could. You whimpered. "I know, I know, I'm sorry." He murmured. When it was out, he pressed the paper on the wound, holding it by wrapping his hand around your forearm.
- After keeping the pressure for a few moments, he looked you, using his free hand to wipe the tear from your face. "Sir, can you look to see if the brawl has ended?" He called out. You heard the door open, and it was significantly quieter out there. "I think the coast is clear." The older man called back.
- Dae-ho let out a relieved sigh. "Can you hold this?" He asked. You nodded slightly, replacing his hand with your own. You stood up shakily, still bit panicky as the adrenaline started to wear off. When you entered the hallway, he wrapped an arm around your shoulders.
- When you rejoined your group, most were relieved to see you, but Young-il had a look that you couldn't place. He was almost bitter that Dae-ho hadn't listened to him. Neither of you paid that much attention to it.
- You sat down with your back against the wall. He went to one of the empty beds and pulled the pillowcase off the pillow. He came back and sat down next to you. He managed to wrap the fabric around the wound. It was a bit awkward, but it worked to cover the wound and maintain some pressure.
- He grinned once he tucked the edge into itself and it stayed put. "Good as new." He said jokingly.
- You smiled and laughed, a sound that really put him at ease. "I wouldn't go that far." You said. You paused for a moment before looking up at him. "Thank you for coming back for me." You said sincerely.
- He looked jokingly offended. "As if I would just leave you back there, give me a little credit." He said, voice exuding his boyish charm.
- You decided to play into this. You gave an exaggerated sigh before saying, "My hero!" Like someone in distress would say to the knight who saved them. You leaned up to give him a kiss on the cheek. He felt his face heat up, and you giggled before leaning your head on his shoulder.
- He couldn't get the stupid smile off his face. He was down bad. He made a silent vow to himself to make sure the two of you got out of here. He didn't care if the others would call him naive. There wasn't a thing he wouldn't do for you.
Headcanons: their reaction to the fact that you want a child🤍
Featuring: Cho Hyun Ju x Reader(f), Kang Dae Ho x Reader(f), Se Mi x Reader(f), Thanos (Su Bong) x Reader(f)
A/N: Orders are always open for you!
🤍🤍🤍
Tumblr media
The beginning of each headcanon will be the same.
You were sitting in the living room reading book about motherhood, when your boyfriend/girlfriend came into the room and noticed you.
Cho Hyun Ju
- Baby, what are you reading? Your face is so focused that I feel uncomfortable. - your girlfriend said jokingly, sitting down next to you.
- Yes, nothing important. - you quickly hid the book under the pillow, but Hyun Ju could not be deceived, she immediately realized that something was wrong here.
- So..- and cleverly took out of the pillow the reason for your sadness, when she read the title of the book, she thought for a while, and then looked straight into your eyes.
- You..do you want to be a mother? - not knowing how to answer correctly, you just nodded silently, you knew that your dream was not destined to come true.
- But why didn't you tell me before?
- And what's the point... if nothing works out anyway. - It even seemed to you that your words offended the girl.
- Why did you decide that it wouldn't work, baby? I also want a child very much. And if the reason is that I will soon make a complete transition to a girl..then it's stupid. We can adopt a child or..or find a good sperm donor for us, and in general! I didn't do all the operations, we can try, my love. You don't have to be silent about that.. - she spoke with such tenderness in her voice that you almost cried.
- I'm sorry, I just thought you were against the children. - for these words you got a light smack, after which the girl took you by the hand and dragged you to the bedroom.
- What are you doing?!
- Let's go try to make your dream come true, after all, I've been ready for children for a long time.
Kang Dae Ho
You've wanted to talk to your boyfriend about this topic for a long time, but you've been waiting for the right moment and now it has come. He just got back from work and went into the living room, where he saw you very serious, he immediately tensed up.
- Honey, did I do something wrong? - he asked cautiously, to which you only pointed your finger at the place next to you, he silently fulfilled your request.
- I've wanted to talk to you for a long time. In general, we have been together for a long time and are planning our wedding.. I want a child. - after which you handed him the very book that he began to look at uncertainly, he looked at you, then at it.
- Oh, honey, are you sure about that? A child is a huge responsibility.
- Yes, I'm completely confident in my decision.
- Yes, I see that you are very serious. - he smiled softly, patted you on the head. - I also want a child, especially a daughter who will look like you. But since I want our child to be healthy, we have to go through some doctors, take tests and so on, and then..we can start..well, you get it..- he said slightly teasing you.
Still, you are very happy that you have such a good future husband, I am sure he will be a good father for your future children.
Se Mi
- Honey, I'm at home. - said your girlfriend, returning from the store, but she was met by silence in response, you were too immersed in reading.
She went to the living room, where she saw you reading a book, the girl had good eyesight, so she immediately saw what the book was about and was surprised.
- Do you read book about motherhood? - you almost jumped in fright when you noticed Se Mi, you wanted to hide the book, but realized that there was no point.
- Yes, I read.
- You don't just read them out of curiosity. Do you want to be a mother? - she sat down next to you, taking your hands in hers.
- Yes, there is such a desire.
- Oh, sweetie, you understand that in our situation it will be difficult, and in general.. I would like to live for myself first, just you and me. And after..in five years, can we come back to this topic again? Okay? Just don't think that I'm judging you or against you!
- I understand everything, really. And I think you're right, we need to get back on our feet first. - she smiled softly at you and kissed you on the lips.
Thanos (Su Bong)
Thanos suddenly flew into the living room that you were even a little scared, and he laughed a little at you.
- Don't be scared, lord. In short, listen! Soon Nam Gyu will come, I warn you right away so that there would be no misunderstandings later. - you listened to him carefully, of course you are not very happy with the situation, because these two make a lot of noise, which is just horrible.
- What are you reading by the way? - he came closer to you and took the book from his hands, saw the title, was horrified and gave it back to you. - You throw this dope out of your head. I'm not ready for children at all, what to take from them? They just scream, ask for food and shit! No, no, no, I don't want to. If you want, I'll buy you any animal, but not a child in the house. - you already wanted to say something, when he interrupted you again. - so, I went to cook snacks, Nam Gyu will come soon. By the way, join us, it will be fun. - he sent you an air kiss and ran to the kitchen, leaving you to digest everything he said.
All you realized is that with a person like him there will never be a child. After all, he himself is like a child who needs constant control, and since he also has a friend who is a fool like him... you have just two children who are in the body of adult guys.
The Last Mask (07)
Tumblr media
Hwang In-ho/Oh Young-il/Player 001 x Reader
Chapter 07 - Oh Young-il
Tumblr media
Story Masterlist
NEXT : Chapter 08
PREV : Chapter 06
Tumblr media
All six of you were led back to the dormitory. As you stepped inside, a low murmur of chatter echoed among the surviving players. But the moment your group entered, the room fell silent. You felt the weight of every gaze, the burn of eyes boring into your team as if your survival was a personal affront.
“They don’t seem so happy to see us,” player 001 remarked, his tone light but tinged with awareness.
With player 001 leading the way, your team moved toward the familiar corner where you often gathered. The quiet tension lingered, following you like eyes.
You glanced back at player 222, who trailed at the far end of your group. Slowing your pace, you allowed her to catch up before wrapping a gentle arm around her shoulders.
“Hey, have you made any friends here yet?” you asked softly.
She shook her head silently, her expression fragile. Offering her a small, reassuring smile, you said, “Then stay with us. We usually hang out in that corner.”
You nodded toward the area your group was heading for. Player 222 hesitated, her eyes flicking to the others as if gauging whether she’d be welcomed. Noticing her uncertainty, you gave her shoulder a comforting pat, keeping your arm around her as you gently guided her forward.
As you walked, Jung-bae’s enthusiastic wave caught your attention. You followed his line of sight and saw the mother (149) and her son (007). The mother’s face lit up with pure relief and joy at seeing your group alive. She and her son waved at you and player 222 with genuine warmth.
“That sweet old lady,” Jung-bae commented wistfully. “I miss my mom.”
You returned the wave with a smile while player 222 bowed politely to them. After the brief exchange, you continued toward the corner with player 222 at your side.
Once there, your group settled in. Gi-hun took his usual spot at the far end, and player 222 sat on the lower staircases just in front of him. Player 001 sat beside Gi-hun, with you taking the lower step in front of him, next to player 222. Dae-ho and Jung-bae sat nearby, completing the circle. For the first time since returning, the corner felt like a small haven amidst the uneasy silence of the dormitory.
“I’m sorry about earlier, everyone,” player 001 spoke up, drawing the group’s attention. He was clearly referring to his struggles during the Spinning Top event.
“It’s okay,” you said first, offering him a reassuring smile. “Everyone has moments like that, but you didn’t give up, and that’s what mattered.”
Player 001 glanced at you, his eyes softening. He smiled appreciatively. Jung-bae patted his knee with a comforting smile, while Dae-ho shook his head as if dismissing the need for an apology.
“Don’t be,” Gi-hun added. “If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t have made the last kick.”
Player 001 turned his attention to player 222, his tone gentle. “Player 222, are you feeling alright?”
“Yes,” she replied quietly, nodding with a small smile. “Thank you all for letting me be on your team.”
You smiled warmly at her. “From now on, just stay with us.”
Player 222’s gazed at you in surprise before she bowed her head respectfully. “Okay. Thank you, big sis.”
Jung-bae chimed in, his tone light. “She smashed that Ddakji and flipped it on her first try. That was impressive.”
Player 222’s smile grew, but she lowered her head slightly, her expression bashful. You smiled wider at her reaction.
“She did great, even while carrying a baby. We were lucky she joined our team,” Jung-bae added.
“What about your Flying Stone play? You hit it with one shot,” Dae-ho said. He got up from the staircase and mimicked Jung-bae’s underhand throw. “Bam! You were like Kim Byung-hyun.”
Laughter rippled through the group, you and player 001 joining in. Jung-bae shook his head, chuckling. “And you? Was Gonggi the only game you ever played?”
Jung-bae then mimicked Dae-ho’s swift movements during Gonggi, adding exaggerated sound effects as if reenacting a battle. “I could barely see your hands. It was like watching a martial arts movie.”
Dae-ho laughed before he shared, “I’m the only son for two generations. My mom only let me play at home with my sisters.”
“And yet they let their precious son join the Marines?” asked Jung-bae, raising his eyebrows.
Dae-ho’s face froze for a moment. He stared at Jung-bae, his grin faltering slightly, then replied, “My father’s idea. He wanted me to be more of a man. He fought in the Vietnam War, you see.”
“Oh,” you said softly, the others nodding as they listened.
“He sounds like a great man,” said Jung-bae. “Was he a Marine too?”
“Yeah, well…” Dae-ho muttered, then suddenly shifted his attention to you. His tone brightened as he said in awe, “But how could we forget about Miss? The way you threw those arrows was awesome!”
He mimicked the way the arrows arched in the air and landed perfectly in the vase. “You must’ve done that a lot!”
Jung-bae turned to you as well, nodding in agreement. “That’s right. You passed on the first try and still had arrows left. Did you play sports like that?”
You chuckled, feeling a bit shy under their praise. “Not really. My school had games like Tuho during festivals. I joined for fun and found out I was good at it.”
“Ah,” the others murmured, nodding in understanding.
Jung-bae grinned at you. “We were lucky to have you. Oh, does your family know about your Tuho skills?”
You blinked and nodded. “Yeah, they do.”
Jung-bae leaned forward, his tone teasing. “Then they have nothing to be afraid of. If any bad guys show up, you’ll just grab something and throw it right into their eyes.”
Gi-hun, player 001, and Dae-ho let out brief, subtle laughs, and you couldn’t help but grin along. But as Jung-bae’s teasing lingered in the air, your mind wandered. You thought of your parents at the hospital and Ji-yoo. They must be wondering where you are right now, you realized.
Your smile gradually faded, and though you didn’t notice, player 001 and player 222 did. Their gazes lingered on you, a quiet concern settling between them. Jung-bae, however, remained oblivious.
“Oh, wait,” Jung-bae asked again, his tone light. “Do your parents know you’re here?”
You put on a small smile. “Oh, no, they don’t. They’re in the hospital right now, so I’m sure they have no idea where I am.”
The shift in the group’s mood was immediate. Their laughter faded, replaced by concern. Jung-bae tilted his head, his tone curious but cautious. “The hospital? Why? Are they sick?”
You forced a small smile, trying to sound casual. “Not exactly. They had a run-in with some loan sharks. My dad borrowed money, couldn’t pay it back, and… well, things got out of hand.”
The group went quiet, their gazes fixed on you. The weight of their attention felt heavy, and you glanced around, catching their curious and concerned expressions. You forced a smile, trying to lighten the mood. “Don’t worry. My parents are doing fine in the hospital now.”
“Miss…” Dae-ho’s voice broke the silence, hesitant. He pulled his jacket’s collar up to his nose as if it could shield him from the gravity of his own question. “What did the loan sharks do?”
At first, you hesitated, unsure if you should tell them. Their concerned faces made it harder to avoid, so you took a breath and put on a fake smile, trying to mask the unease growing inside you.
“They roughed up my parents. Dropped them off on the porch. They’re in the hospital now, but they’re tough. They’ll bounce back,” you pause, glancing at the floor briefly, then looked up with that same forced smile. “I'm taking care of their debt now. But it's tough because the loan sharks recently tripled the amount.”
Player 001 leaned forward slightly, his calm voice cutting through the tension. “How much?”
You informed, “It’s not just the loan anymore. The hospital bills for my parents… the interest… everything together. It’s 350 million won.”
“Wah,” Jung-bae said, staggered by the amount. “Unless you hit a jackpot or something, that’s impossible to pay off by yourself. Those loan sharks are scum.”
Dae-ho spoke up, “Miss, I didn’t realize you were carrying so much. You always seemed cheerful, and I thought it was just money issues bringing you here. But you’ve really been through a lot.”
“Did those loan sharks ever hurt you?” player 001 asked, his gaze steady and piercing.
This was when your fake smile dropped. You dropped your gaze and said, “No. But they sent me a note. It said they’d… resort to drastic measures if I didn’t pay. They threatened to hurt my little sister. That’s why I’m here. I need the money for my family.”
You glanced at player 001, catching the way he stared at you deeply, his expression unreadable but intense. Gi-hun also stared at you, quiet and contemplative. It struck you that he might be thinking you’d consider staying in the game longer to accumulate more prize money.
Quickly, you spoke up, “Not that I plan to stay here any longer, though. No matter how much I earn, I want to go home.”
Gi-hun nodded in understanding, the tension in his face easing. Turning to Jung-bae, you bowed your head slightly. “Sorry for bringing up such a heavy topic.”
The group shook their heads, brushing off your apology. Jung-bae was the first to respond. “No, it’s fine! Honestly, I’ve been curious about why you’re here anyway. You look so out of place.”
Dae-ho nodded energetically. “I’ve been wondering the same thing too. You and Miss 222… you don’t seem like you belong here.”
You blinked at him. “Is it because we’re girls?”
Dae-ho grinned sheepishly, scratching the back of his head. “Well, yeah. But Miss 222 is pregnant, and you… you’re really pretty. Honestly, you should be filming a commercial, not stuck here.”
The unexpected compliment made you smile sincerely this time. Heat rose to your cheeks as you glanced away shyly. Before you could respond, player 222 spoke softly, “Yes, you’re very beautiful, big sis.”
Jung-bae and Gi-hun smiled in agreement, their expressions earnest. Player 001 chimed in, “I agree. Many players here keep glancing at you.”
You lowered your head bashfully.
Suddenly, Dae-ho pushed himself up from his seat and stepped confidently into the center of your group, his usual energy lighting up the moment.
“Listen. Perhaps we should learn each other’s names. I still don’t know your names, gentlemen. Or yours, Miss,” he said, glancing at player 222 before turning back to you with a grin. “Though I already know yours. Still, let’s do this properly as a group.”
He straightened up. “I’ll start. I’m Kang Dae-ho. ‘Dae’ means big, and ‘ho’ means tiger.”
Jung-bae chuckled lightly. “Oh, ‘big tiger.’ Cool name. My name is Park Jung-bae. ‘Righteous’ and ‘twice.’ My parents wanted me to be twice as righteous.”
Player 222 hesitated briefly before introducing herself. “My name is Kim Jun-hee. I don’t know what it means, though.”
The group smiled at her warmly. Player 001’s voice softened as he spoke to her, “Jun-hee, when you get out of here, go see a doctor right away. You’ve been under a lot of stress. You need to get yourself checked out.”
You noticed how gentle his tone was, and it melted your heart. He was genuinely considerate of her condition, and it showed in every word.
“Okay,” Jun-hee replied, her voice small but grateful.
Player 001 shifted his gaze to you, and you noticed the others following suit. Their expectant looks made it clear they were waiting for your introduction.
“My name is [Your Full Name],” you said next, offering a small smile. “I’ve never checked what it means.”
The others nodded in acceptance, their smiles encouraging. Player 001 also commented with a soft smile, “It sounds perfect for you. Beautiful, even.”
You hung your head bashfully.
Finally, player 001 spoke. “I’m Oh Young-il.”
You stared at him. Finally, you got his name.
“Young-il?” Jung-bae repeated in bewilderment.
“Yes,” Young-il said, pointing at his player number. “Young-il sounds like ‘zero one,’ and that’s my number. Easy to remember.”
Dae-ho’s eyes lit up as he pointed to the number on Young-il’s uniform. “Oh, that’s true! Your name is your number!”
“What a coincidence,” you remarked, smiling. “Maybe the game makers noticed the connection and assigned you as 001 on purpose.”
Young-il chuckled at your comment, his eyes glinting with amusement. “Who knows? It does feel a little too perfect.”
Jung-bae nodded in agreement. “Yeah, it’s almost like fate.”
Young-il turned to the man beside him with a curious expression. “Oh, Gi-hun. What’s your last name?”
“My name is Seong Gi-hun,” he said, finally introducing himself as his gaze flicked to you and the rest of the group.
You and the others nodded, murmuring sounds of acknowledgment. Young-il, however, tilted his head thoughtfully before remarking, “Oh. But ‘Seong’ literally means ‘last name.’”
He broke into a laugh at his own comment, his amusement evident. The rest of the group stared at him as if not quite catching on. You stared at him for a moment, then it clicked – he was probably making a dad joke. Unable to hold back, you chuckled softly, the lighthearted moment easing the mood a little.
A blaring beeping noise echoed through the dormitory. As usual, the main double doors opened, and the pink-clad guards marched in. At the front, the familiar square-masked guard stood.
You and the rest of the players turned to watch. Many began rising from their seats or stepping away from their hangout spots, awaiting the the announcement.
“Congratulations to all of you for making it through the second game. Here are the results of the second game,” the square-masked guard announced, holding up a remote control.
With a click, the dormitory lights dimmed, leaving the room bathed in the eerie glow of the piggy bank suspended near the ceiling. The familiar sound of money dropping filled the air as stacks of bills cascaded into the transparent bank. Almost every player stood, their eyes fixed on the mesmerizing sight.
You found yourself staring too, unable to shake the grim realization that each stack represented the lives of players who didn’t make it.
When the flow of money stopped, the guard spoke again. “In the second game, 114 players were eliminated. The prize money accumulated up to this point is 19.8 billion won. Since there are 258 players remaining, each person’s share is 76,744,186 won.”
Hearing the amount, you hung your head low. The number was far from what you needed to cover your debt. Disappointment gnawed at you. Unbeknownst to you, Young-il, standing just beside you, stared at you.
“Wait, what?” a player exclaimed, his tone sharp with dissatisfaction. “It’s still under 100 million? It’s not even 80 million.”
A woman with an ‘O’ patch on her chest asked bluntly, “Only 114 people died? Is that all? Did you count them right?”
Another voice from the O zone yelled out, “That’s all? But you shot all those people!”
Player 100 joined in, his voice rising above the others. “Count them again!”
The dissatisfaction rippled through the crowd as more players voiced their anger.
The square-masked guard's voice cut through the noise. “I completely understand your disappointment. However, we always keep the door open for you to pursue new opportunities. You will now take a vote to decide whether to continue the games or not.”
The circle-masked guards moved efficiently, setting up the voting equipment. The square guard continued, “Whether to continue the games for a bigger prize or to stop here is entirely your choice. Please feel free to exercise your right to choose in a democratic manner.”
All of you were given a short break as the circle guards set up everything for the voting. You stood there, your head still hung low, disappointment lingering at the thought of 70 million won being nowhere near enough to solve your problems.
“[Your name],” Gi-hun called, breaking through your thoughts.
You blinked and turned to him. Gi-hun stepped down onto the same staircase where you stood, positioning himself on your left since Young-il was already standing to your right. His stare was steady.
“If the vote goes our way and we leave this game,” Gi-hun began, “memorize my phone number. Contact me. I want to help you and your situation.”
You gaped at him, stunned by his sudden offer. From the corner of your eye, you noticed Jun-hee observing the two of you, her curiosity clear. Behind you, the subtle sound of shifting made you aware that Young-il had fully turned his attention to your conversation.
Gi-hun continued, “I still have billions of won left. More than enough to help your family. If you’re more comfortable, we can arrange to meet somewhere. Maybe at a park or a subway station.”
His words caught you off guard, but they brought a warm smile to your face. You nodded gratefully. “Thank you. That would mean a lot.”
Gi-hun returned your smile. Before you could say more, Young-il’s voice interrupted gently.
“I’d like to help as well,” Young-il said calmly.
You turned to him, your eyes wide in surprise. His gaze met yours, steady and kind.
“Whether it’s protection or financial support, I’ll do whatever I can. If we leave this place, let’s set up a meeting as well,” Young-il offered.
A soft warmth spread across your cheeks as his words sank in. You bowed your head respectfully, your voice filled with gratitude. “Thank you so much, you two.”
Young-il’s smile widened, but it quickly faltered when he noticed Gi-hun staring at the O patch on his chest. Young-il reassured him, “Don’t worry. I want to stop here too.”
Gi-hun’s shoulders relaxed, his posture softening as he nodded. “Ah, right. You have a wife waiting for you at the hospital.”
The words landed like a thunderclap. Your body froze, a chill running through you as your eyes darted to Young-il. You had suspected he might be married. His maturity and demeanor hinted at it. But hearing it confirmed struck you harder than you expected. It was in that instant you realized you had developed a crush on him, and the realization made your heart sink.
Your gaze stayed locked on Young-il, searching his face for confirmation. But instead of a smile, his expression tightened. He froze, his features tense, and the cheerful warmth he’d carried moments ago vanished. His silence stretched on until Gi-hun frowned and asked, “What? What’s wrong?”
Young-il’s eyes flicked to you briefly before he averted his gaze, his discomfort clear. You couldn’t help but gawk at him, your emotions tangled between disappointment and confusion. Young-il ruffled his hair awkwardly, exhaling deeply as if bracing himself.
“Well, about that…” he began, his tone hesitant, but you had heard enough.
Your gaze shifted away from him, and that’s when you noticed the other players gathering at the far back of the dormitory. The guards appeared to have finished setting up for the voting process.
Without another word, you stood and left the circle, making your way toward the crowd. The noise of the group and the hum of activity around you dulled the turmoil in your mind, but the questions lingering about Young-il remained unanswered.
You couldn’t understand why you felt so angry. It wasn’t his fault. Deep down, you’d always suspected he might be married. Still, you’d let yourself get swept up in the little moments, the kind words and gestures that made your heart skip a beat. You’d let your feelings blind you to reality.
You never saw this coming – you having a crush on an older adult male. The teenage version of you would be terrified, but you couldn’t help it. This Young-il guy was so charming, so caring, so considerate towards you.
But he’s married already. He has a wife waiting for him. At the hospital.
You facepalmed. Gosh, you’re such a whore.
You heard shuffling behind you, followed by the low muttering of familiar voices. You didn’t need to look to know that Jung-bae and Dae-ho were there. It seemed the rest of your group had followed you into the crowd, though you weren’t sure about Young-il or Gi-hun.
“Are you okay?” Gi-hun’s voice reached you from behind, but it didn’t seem directed at you.
There was a moment of silence before Young-il replied, “Yeah…”
His voice was calm but carried a faint edge.
You didn’t turn to look, keeping your focus ahead. That’s when you felt a presence beside you. A quick glance out of the corner of your eye revealed the adorable Jun-hee standing there. You looped your arm gently through hers. She turned her head to you and smiled.
The square-masked guard’s voice cut through the murmurs. “This time, the vote will begin with player 001. Player 001, please cast your vote.”
You stayed focused on the front, though the sound of movement behind you did not go unnoticed. A presence brushed past you. You glanced sideways and saw Young-il. He was already looking at you, his expression unreadable. He gave you a slight nod before continuing toward the voting counter.
You weren’t sure what his nod meant, but you feigned indifference and turned your attention back to the process. At the counter, Young-il pressed the X button, the deep ping echoing in the room. The tally on the TV screen updated immediately. He removed his O patch, replacing it with the red X patch, then walked to the X zone. His eyes immediately found yours.
Caught off guard, you quickly looked away and focused on the ongoing voting. Player 006 was next, voting for X as well. Then came player 007’s turn – the son from the mother-and-son duo. He was just about to step forward when his mother stopped him.
“Yong-sik, don’t get any foolish ideas,” she said. “If we put our money together, it’d be over 150 million. We’ll pay off your debt with it and use the rest to open a produce store or something. Okay?”
So his name is Yong-sik, you mused.
Yong-sik nodded wordlessly and made his way to the counter. His eyes lingered on the buttons, his expression contemplative. He glanced at the TV screen displaying the tally before finally pressing the O button.
You blinked in surprise. If you were shocked, you couldn’t imagine how his mother felt.
The voting continued, the process moving along steadily. As the numbers shifted on the screen, you began to notice the absurdity of the tie forming. Despite witnessing so much death, so many players were still willing to risk their lives for money.
Player 100 stepped up and, predictably, pressed the O button. Then it was player 120’s turn. She hesitated for a moment, her hand hovering over the buttons, before choosing O as well.
Several more players followed, each selecting O. The tally climbed to [X: 33 | O: 36] when Gi-hun suddenly pushed his way through the crowd. You watched him with wide eyes, wondering if he was about to disrupt the voting process again.
He emerged from the throng and turned to face you and the other unvoters. His voice was loud and urgent. “Everyone!”
“Are you all out of your minds?!”
Another voice cut through the room, sharp and commanding. You jolted at the sound and turned to see Young-il stepping forward from the X zone. He moved to stand in the middle of the X and O areas, his gaze sweeping over the players.
“You still want to keep going after watching all those people die?” Young-il shouted. “Who’s to say you won’t die in the next game? We have to stop. We’ll all die if we keep going! Come to your senses, and leave with that money. You’ve got to survive first, or there won’t be a next step.”
“What do you think we can do with a mere 70 million?” player 100 demanded, stepping forward from the crowd of O voters. His voice was loud, cutting through the tense silence. “I don’t know how much you owe, but for most people here, that doesn’t even cover 10% of their debt.”
You rolled your eyes, unable to stop yourself. Yeah, especially you with your 10 billion won debt.
“There’s no next step for us!” player 100 continued, his voice rising with each word. “That money won’t change anything!”
“Yes, he’s right!” another O voter chimed in. “With that amount of money, I won’t last long!”
Player 100 turned his attention toward the unvoters. “It was 25 million after the first game, and now it’s 76 million! After just one more game, the prize will be at least 240 million! That’s the kind of money that can actually change lives!”
A petite woman (player 095) suddenly spoke up, her voice trembling. “But I can’t do this anymore.”
All gazes were cast onto her. Tears streamed down her face. You recognized her from the Seven Legs Hexathlon, where she’d been on the same team as the mother and son duo and player 120.
Her body shook as sobs racked her frame. “Please. Please let me out of here. I really want to go home. I don’t want to die.”
Your heart clenched at her words, her fear echoing your own. You wanted to go home too, as did many others. But with the majority voting O, it felt like there was no escape.
A heavy silence followed her cries, broken only by her quiet sobbing. Then another O voter spoke up, guilt etched into his face, though his resolve to stay was clear. “Young lady, you’re young, so you’d probably have another chance.”
He looked like he was holding back tears as well. “But I don’t.”
“Please,” player 095 begged, clasping her hands together in a desperate gesture. Her cries were gut-wrenching, and you felt your own eyes begin to sting with unshed tears.
“My family and I have no future,” the O voter continued, his voice breaking. “My business failed, and now I owe over 500 million. I’ve got to make at least half of that here if I want a real shot at a fresh start.”
“What if you die?” Young-il’s voice cut through the silence. “If you die here, your family won’t even get your body. Then it’d be the end for you and your family!”
The O voter stared at him, his expression shifting as the weight of his words began to sink in. He cast their gaze downward, silent, as Young-il pressed further. “Don’t you see?”
“Don’t get fucking scared!”
The sudden outburst turned every head. Player 226 – another greedy player akin to player 100 – stepped forward. He continued, “Ddakji, Red Light, Green Light, Spinning Top! It’s not like the games are that difficult.”
He pointed at the TV screen. “Look. There are still 258 players. Way more than half of us survived! We’ve made it this far, so let’s do this one more time!”
Player 100 joined in. “You make such a good point, young man. That’s right! We’ve all played the games well and are still standing! Now, let’s play one more game! Just one more, and that’s it! Let’s play just one more game!”
“Yeah, let’s play one more game!” Player 226 shouted.
“One more game!” Player 100 began to chant.
The phrase spread quickly, the dormitory booming with voices as a majority of players picked up the chant. The sheer volume of it made your chest tighten. You hung your head low, the reality of the situation hitting you hard. This voting session was going to end with O as the majority. The thought frustrated you.
Unbeknownst to you, Young-il glanced in your direction, his expression unreadable.
Ten minutes had passed, and the voting process was still ongoing. You had tuned out the numbers being called, lost in your thoughts, when a slight shuffling nearby snapped you out of your trance. A presence settled beside you, and you turned your head to see a man who looked to be in his late twenties or early thirties. The number on his chest read 299. Behind him stood two other male players, and it was clear from their demeanor that the three of them were close.
What caught you off guard was that player 299 was already staring at you. As your eyes met, he smiled and spoke up, “Hi there. I’m Lee Min-jae.”
Blinking in perplexity, you hesitated before introducing yourself. His grin widened. “I want to say nice to meet you, but this isn’t exactly the perfect place for it, is it?”
You nodded blankly, unsure of what to say. He continued without missing a beat. “Anyway, I’ve been meaning to ask if you’d be okay hanging out with me later. After this vote.”
Your eyes widened in surprise. “Hang out?”
“Yeah, with me and my friends,” he gestured briefly to the two men behind him. “I noticed you always hang out with the previous winner and his group. But if you don’t mind, I was hoping you could leave them for this evening and spend some time with us instead.”
You averted your gaze, feeling a little uncomfortable with the sudden invitation.
“Umm, I’m not sure yet,” you replied cautiously.
Min-jae didn’t seem deterred. “Come on. It’ll be fun. We’ll take care of you, promise.”
His friends chimed in as well. One of them, a tall man with number 277, added, “Yeah, it’ll be good to relax a little. Everyone’s so tense here.”
The other, player 304, nodded in agreement. “Exactly. We’ve got to find small ways to keep ourselves sane in this place.”
You noticed from the corner of your eye that Jun-hee was subtly observing the interaction, her gaze shifting between you and the trio. Her quiet presence gave you a strange sense of reassurance.
Feeling cornered but not wanting to be rude, you deflected with a polite smile. “I’ll see if I have time later. Things are a bit hectic right now.”
That response seemed to satisfy Min-jae, who nodded with an easygoing grin. “Fair enough. Just let me know if you’re up for it.”
With that, he stepped back, rejoining his friends. The three of them exchanged a few words among themselves before turning their attention back to the voting process. You let out a small sigh of relief, grateful that the conversation had ended for now.
Thirty minutes passed, and the final vote from Gi-hun echoed through the room with a deep ping. The TV screen updated with the final tally: [X: 117 | O: 141].
It was a complete defeat for your side.
The square-masked guard’s voice broke through the noise. “The results are 141 for O and 117 for X. Based on the majority vote, we will proceed to the third game tomorrow. Thank you.”
The players began to disperse. In the X zone, you stood beside Jun-hee, with Dae-ho on her other side. In front of you was Young-il, his posture tense. Gi-hun remained by the voting counter, frozen in place, his disheartened expression making it clear he hadn’t expected such a defeat.
Your frustration simmered beneath the surface. The vote itself had been crushing, but what stung even more was Jung-bae’s unexpected decision to vote for O. You’d thought everyone in your group had agreed to leave this time, yet there he was, standing in the O zone. It felt like a betrayal.
Letting out a weary sigh, you turned and walked away, heading for your bed. The dormitory felt suffocating, and all you wanted was a moment to collect yourself.
You watched curiously as the crowd of people swarmed player 230 (Thanos, you heard him and others say) as they tried to take a picture. You didn’t know who he was, but apparently this “Thanos” was a pretty famous guy. He noticed you in the line behind him, and he simply gestured for you to join the group.
“Come on, there’s room for one more,” he said.
You started to shake your head no, your naturally kind nature keeping you from knowing how to admit you had no idea who he was, when a guard poke up.
“That is not allowed. Only one player per picture,” the pink jumpsuited guard said.
Thanos shrugged it off, but your rejection at his offer was a bit harder for him to shake off. After he flipped off the camera, he subtly looked for your reaction at his antics. He found himself feeling frustrated with your lack of interest as you simply waited for your turn. As you all filtered into the large yard with a strange statue of a girl on the other side, Thanos ducked around people to get closer to you.
“So, you don’t know who I am,” he accurately guessed.
“Oh, I… I’m sure you’re very talented,” you said, trying to side step saying anything that might be deemed as rude.
Cute, he thought to himself, noticing your somewhat shy politeness.
“That’s okay. Once you get to know me you’ll be a fan. I promise,” he said with a cocky grin. You simply nodded yes, barely giving an audible “mhm” as your eyes drifted off him and towards the statue of the girl. Thanos felt a little ding to his ego at your lack of fascination. He would have to show you he meant what he said. You closely listened to the disembodied voice explaining the rules of this game. The statue started to turn, and you realized it was some sort of massive animatronic.
You were both taken by surprise as Player 456 jumped in front of everyone and began to give an odd warning. Thanos and Player 196 start talking to each other and make fun of Player 456. Thanos once again found his eyes drifting over to you, wondering if you find his comments funny. But just as before, you were not even paying attention to him. Instead you were actually listening to Player 456. You weren’t sure if you believed him, but you couldn’t shake the uneasy feeling creeping up on you as he spoke. Thanos noticed the worried look in your eyes, and leaned over to your direction.
“Trust me, you don’t have to worry about what this guy is saying,” he assured you before mouthing the word “crazy”.
That didn’t do much to settle your nerves, and instead you felt a spike of worried adrenaline as the game suddenly started. You moved quickly, but Thanos moved quicker. Just before he froze he glanced behind him to see if you were at all impressed, but your eyes weren’t even on him. Instead you were looking at the animatronic girl at the finish line.
It only took a few rounds for Player 456’s warning to be proven true. Suddenly you were hearing shots and watching the bodies drop. Your mouth went dry as that foreboding feeling was proved correct. You prayed over and over again for no one to knock you down as masses of people started to run for the doors. You somehow stayed standing till the chaotic scene calmed. You tried not to flinch as you heard the voice repeat the rules once again.
As the game started back up you were surprised to see Thanos in front of you. He managed to find you frozen among the running people, and as soon as he had a chance he was back at your side.
You watched as he froze in front of you. A cross, that you had previously assumed was just a necklace, was open and his fingers were frozen just inside. As soon as the song played you watched as he took a pill out and chewed it quickly.
“Interested?” he asked, offering you his drugs.
“No,” you said, a little breathless from the shock of his calm demeanor and the idea of getting high at a time like this.
He noticed your nerves and smiled; partly because of you and partly because the drugs were already starting to kick in.
“Don’t worry. Just stick with me and you’ll be fine,” he said.
“Um,” you muttered, not sure you trusted him.
“Trust me. I swear to god, I’m invincible on this shit,” he said.
Before you could react the girl was turned back around and the two of you were frozen, looking into each other's eyes. Thanos was grinning at you and slightly raised his eyebrows in anticipation. Your expression was only one of fear, frozen partly from necessity thanks to the game’s rules and partly because you were in shock.
As the girl faced the tree and started the song Thanos spun around, practically skipping as he went. He was careful not to go too fast, making sure he was sticking by your side.
“Careful,” you said, warning him as he moved much less strategically than everyone else. Your naturally kind personality was fully to blame as your concern grew for this stranger.
He loved to hear you worry for him. Finally, he was getting your attention, and he wanted more. He gave you a dimpled smile before jumping up into a haphazard heel click. You gasped as you watched him, hearing the nursery rhyme coming to an end. You grabbed his hand, yanking him onto the solid ground just in time.
You were frozen, watching the animatronic worriedly, hoping the eyes didn’t land on either of you. Thanos’ gaze was fixed on you. He gave your hand an excited squeeze, careful not to make it too visibly noticeable. It was almost like his hand was on your heart instead of your own hand; that squeeze suddenly causing your heart to pound a little quicker (even though the stress was already making your heart beat fast and erratic).
As soon as the singing resumed you were suddenly being pulled along by the lanky, purple haired player. You stumbled as you ran a few times, but he didn’t go so fast as to make you fall completely. His mind was up in the clouds, not really noticing your struggling to keep up with him. He was just focused on getting you and him across the line.
The two of you managed to be pretty early among the survivors who crossed the finish line, but Thanos reacted like you guys had barely made it across as he pulled you into a hug with a cheer.
“I told you,” he said, his dilated pupils boring into your own eyes, “Just stick with me.”
Lee Myung-gi/Player 333
Tumblr media
You looked around nervously at the hallways and staircases full of strangers. A few seemed to know each other, and a sizable group knew of player 230, but you didn’t know anybody. You felt your worry rise a little, thinking of how you were never good at coming out of your shell enough to make some friends.
“Excuse me, you’re next,” a voice behind you said, pulling you from your thoughts.
You glanced behind you to see a man pointing in front of you towards the cameras. His expression was pretty unreadable, seemingly stuck in neutral as he waited for you to continue on. You were too busy stressing to realize the line had moved along enough that it was now your turn to pose for a photo.
“Oh! Sorry about that,” you said, quickly stepping up. Your eyes flicked towards the screen, and you quickly tried to make your hair look a little more presentable.
Myung-gi watched you tuck your hair behind your ears before trying to smile for the camera, but your nerves kept it from feeling genuine. He noted this, thinking to himself that you probably wouldn’t make it far in these games. You seemed too soft for any kind of competition. He found himself sticking close to you as you were all herded through the halls. For some reason your perceived weakness made him feel a sort of obligation to keep an eye on you.
You blinked up at the sky along with everyone else, but Myung-gi was busy surveying the field. You both listened to a voice explaining the rules, but your attention was quickly diverted when Player 456 started speaking to the group.
You felt yourself getting nervous at his warnings. You were so worried your anxiety overtook your shyness, and you found yourself speaking to the player next to you.
“Do you think what he’s saying is true?” you asked.
Myung-gi felt a little pang, despite himself, at your scared expression as you looked at him. Once again, that feeling of a need to watch out for you bubbled up in him.
“No. It’s probably a tactic,” he said with a shrug.
“Tactic?” you asked, not following his train of thought.
“To throw everyone off once the game starts,” he said, but you still seemed a little nervous, “It’s just red light, green light.”
You nodded at his reassuring statement, trying to convince yourself this player was right. You would much rather what he said be correct than what Player 456 was saying. You tried to ignore your anxious feelings, preparing yourself for the games. Myung-gi was doing the same, but as soon as the game started he found himself sticking pretty close to your side instead of crossing the field as fast as he could.
As soon as the first player moved during the silent pause between singing a loud bang rang through the air. As the yells erupted from players around the two of you, people running around you, Myung-gi looked at you from the corner of his eye.
He thought, given your scared state, you might take off too. He was impressed, and for some reason relieved, to see you were keeping frozen in place. Once everything stopped the rules once again rang out over the sound system. Myung-gi didn’t listen closely to the voice, and instead his eyes were fixed on Player 456. You couldn’t hear the words the player was saying, your pounding heart bringing a loud ringing to your ears.
As soon as it was safe to move, Myung-gi moved you behind him, like Player 456 had instructed everyone to do, as he gave you a simple warning.
“Stick close,” he said.
He turned back to face the finish line as soon as you nodded in understanding. You kept your eyes on the back in front of you, not wanting to look around as people dropped to the ground. Someone near you suddenly fell to the ground, and you couldn’t stop yourself from jumping. Luckily, Myung-gi blocked you from the view of the doll’s eyes.
When he heard your gasp, he waited for the voice to start singing before reaching a hand back behind him. He felt a sense of relief when he felt your own hand grasp his, glad you weren’t giving up yet.
“You’ll be fine. Just keep going,” he called to you from over his shoulder, his eyes on the clock.
Your chest was tight, not from running but from fear, and you could only manage a one word reply.
“Okay.”
He found himself a little more at ease (or at ease as he could be in this situation) as he held your hand in his, now able to know he wasn’t leaving you behind. You couldn’t help as you squeezed his hand at every sound of the gunshot to keep yourself from flinching once again. You knew you wouldn’t be so lucky the second time you moved when you weren’t supposed to. With every squeeze of your hand, he felt himself tightening his own grip, that protective feeling not shrinking away. Instead, it seemed to grow with every step he took and you shadowed.
His gaze was fixed on the quickly approaching finish line. He was determined to get you both across. You held your breath as the two of you froze, so close to crossing the line.
As soon as you two crossed the line you could finally breathe freely. If you weren’t so shy you would be giving the player who saved you a massive hug, more than grateful for his help. Instead, he let go of your hand, putting his own in his pocket before turning to look at you.
“You good?” he asked, now more able to freely talk to you. His eyes quickly scanned over you, noting that you seemed to make it across the field unscathed.
You nodded, taking a few deep breaths before saying, “Thank you. I don’t know what I would’ve done.”
The thought of you trying to navigate the game by yourself gave you some sort of residual anxiety, and you started to feel a few tears prick at your eyes. It didn’t help that adrenaline seemed to be crashing through your body. Before you could start crying Myung-gi spoke up.
“Want to be allies?” he asked, trying to distract you from whatever thoughts you were beginning to stress yourself out with.
“Really?” you asked, feeling like he was saving you all over again. You knew you weren’t the best at connecting with people, but here he was, easily offering a friendship.
“I’m Myung-gi,” he said, introducing himself.
“I’m y/n,” you said.
“Okay, y/n, want to be allies?” he said, asking again.
“Yes,” you said, relief washing over you.
Your genuine smile charmed him within moments, and despite himself his cooled facade broke as he smiled back at you.
“So we stay close to each other then,” he said.
You nodded in agreement, happy to have his help.
Kang Dae-ho/Player 388
Tumblr media
You and the group trekked along the halls and stairs, headed towards some unknown destination. The player in front of you, Player 388, turned around as you all waited to get your photo taken.
“What do you think the game will be?” he asked, striking up a conversation with ease.
“Oh, um…” you started, a little surprised by the sudden question.
Dae-ho patiently waited for you to answer, but he took note of how you did take a beat before speaking. He wondered to himself if you were always this shy or if it was maybe nerves for the competition.
“Well, there are a lot of people here who gamble, right?” you asked, “So maybe it’s something like that.”
“Good guess,” he said with a friendly grin, attempting to crack through your unintentionally distant demeanour.
You felt bad that you couldn’t think of something else to say, and you felt the conversation die off just as quickly as it started. Dae-ho only kept quiet for a few moments before speaking up again.
“So how are you going to take your photo?” he asked, turning back to you once again.
“What do you mean?” you asked.
He gestured with a nod towards the people passing in front of the cameras.
“Some people are smiling while some are doing a more serious vibe,” he pointed out.
You looked in the direction of the cameras, noticing he was right. You even saw some people holding up hearts with their fingers.
“I’m not sure,” you admitted.
“I think I’m just going to go for a smile,” he said, before flashing a demonstrative grin at you. His genuinity pulled your own smile onto your face. He felt something swell inside him. He assumed it was a bit of pride at finally getting you to come a little out of your shell.
When it came to your turn in front of the camera, your gaze flicked over to the person in front of you. Dae-ho grinned once again, giving you a thumbs up, and you decided to smile for the photo. Dae-ho once again felt that wave of pride as you decided to take his silent suggestion to smile for the photo.
The two of you got separated as people spilled out onto the crowd. You felt a little disappointment creep up when you didn’t find him next to you, thinking you might have found a friend. But you quickly assured yourself he was being friendly because he was looking for allies, and if he really wanted you on his side he would simply find you after the game.
Dae-ho started to speak, but stopped short when he realized you weren’t by him anymore. He started to move through the crowd, looking for you as the rules were spoken over the sound system. He wasn’t sure why he was so set on finding you, but he figured it might have to do with your shy nature. He would feel a little guilty leaving you behind, and he thought you seemed sweet. A lot of people at the start seemed to be a little too surly for him, like that angry business man or the cocky rapper, but not you.
He froze when he heard a player starting to call out to the rest of the group, listening to what he said. A bit further down you found your own attention also being pulled towards Player 456 and what he had to say. You felt your stomach do a somersault as he talked. Even if what he was saying wasn’t true, it was still unsettling to hear.
You both took off as the game started, Dae-ho moving a little quicker than you from across the field. But as soon as the shots started, you both froze in place. You froze longer than necessary, not able to move until Player 456 was back again at the front, telling you all you had to keep going otherwise you’d be eliminated.
Dae-ho carefully moved his eyes, looking for you amongst the frozen crowd. He spotted you not too far to the side, and as the giant animatronic girl turned back around he made a beeline towards you. He knew you were a stranger, but he knew he wouldn’t be able to forgive himself if you ended up dying. He felt like it wouldn’t be right to go out of his way not to help you (completely ignoring the fact that he was instead going out of his way to help you), especially now that he knew these “games” were so much more sinister than anyone had realized.
You were doing fairly well, despite your nerves. That was until a player behind you decided to go on the offense. You gasped when you felt two hands shove you from the side just as the nursery rhyme was coming to an end. You tried to catch yourself, but it was too late. You were mid fall, sure you were about to be eliminated, when you felt a pair of strong arms wrap around you and pull you back into their chest.
“It’s okay. I’ve got you,” a voice said. You recognized it as Player 388’s voice.
As soon as Dae-ho pulled you against him, he could feel your heart pounding, just like his. As soon as the girl turned back to the tree, he swooped you behind him with his arm. The two of you made your way across the field, him occasionally looking over his shoulder to make sure you were still behind him. When you both crossed the line, you found yourself trying and failing to get the words out to thank him.
“I almost- I could have- thank you!” you said, constantly interrupting yourself as the adrenaline that had been coursing through your body was sudden;y starting to crash.
He placed a hand on each side of you, grasping your arms, as he looked closely at you. You were a little taken aback by how worried he was looking at you. You realized his friendliness from before must have been completely genuine.
“Are you okay?” he asked, and you nodded. Your voice, which moments ago was spitting out a mass of discombobulated words, was suddenly stuck in your throat as his eyes met yours with such intensity.
He breathed a sigh of relief, but before he could smile he saw the player who had pushed you sitting on the ground a few steps away.
“I’ll be right back,” he said, stepping around you.
You turned to watch him, and were shocked by how easily he picked the player up by their shirt collar and push them up against the wall.
“What the hell was that?” he asked, his tone much more intimidating in this moment than how he sounded when he talked to you.
“Hey, calm down!” the player said, trying to push him off. But his sturdy build was completely unaffected by the shoving. The player shrunk a little when they realized just how strong he was, “Relax! They survived, didn’t they?”
“No thanks to you,” Dae-ho stated, tightening the grip on the player’s shirt. Suddenly, he felt a hand on his upper arm, and he looked over to see you standing next to him.
“It’s okay,” you told him.
“See? It’s fine-” the player started, but quickly stopped when Dae-ho went back to glaring him down.
“Shut it,” he warned.
You wrapped your other hand around his arm too, gently pulling at him.
“Just ignore him,” you told him. The softness of your voice pulled at him much more than the anger he felt towards the player currently in his grasp, and he decided to listen to you.
Dae-ho sighed, dropping his hands, and the player, before following you as you walked away from the person who had shoved you. He had surprised himself by getting so angry with that player. Normally he avoided conflict, but he couldn’t stand that someone had purposely hurt someone else… Purposefully hurt you.
“What would you have done to him? Hit him?” you asked, a little worried at what he might say. You were not the type of person who enjoyed conflict.
He shrugged, looking a little bashful, “No, probably not. I just… What kind of jerk purposefully puts someone in danger like that?”
“I don’t know, but… But I wouldn’t have made it if it wasn’t for you. So thank you,” you said, relieved by his answer.
“We should all be helping each other when we can, right?” he asked.
You smiled at his question, totally won over by how genuinely kind he was. Dae-ho saw your small smile, and he couldn't stop the grin that came to his own face.
