you think being trans is a pitiable and abominable condition which prolongs the existence of misogyny, and while you may not have the outward contempt for trans people that J. K. Rowling has, you still, ultimately, wish trans people didn't exist.

do i believe trans identity is "innate"? no, because gender is not innate. but the conclusion you seem to have arrived at, based on Fine's work, is that how trans people feel about their gender is the product of a conscious choice, like picking a hairstyle. in fact, and Fine's work quite literally supports this, it is likely to be the result of a confluence of social, biological and cultural factors, which emerges in early childhood.

Have you ever heard that claim that transgender people have brains of their chosen gender? Or the claim that men and women have completely different, dimorphic brains? Well, neither of those statements are true! Here's the explanation as to how neurosexism and bad science have hijacked our understanding of brains & sex/gender.

No information in these infographics mean you can't respect transgender individuals' chosen identities. It just means that "brain sex" is a neurosexist myth and neuroscience studies are insuffiecient to defend transgender identities as innate.

This is for you, not for you to post. I saw your tags and here’s a the bottom line: young girls who have never experienced homophobia (but have grown up in a sexist culture) claim to be “queer men”. It’s offensive to gay men, because they have had the words “fag” and “queer” thrown at them along with stones. They are bullied from childhood. They struggle and eventually are proud to be gay. But the experience of growing up gay, of their struggle, is dismissed by younger women. When these men say “I get that you romanticize us and like us, but my history, reality, and future is different than the stories you read. Please don’t claim to be the same as me” young women who are “liberal” like to respond with hate, they call them terfs, they send death threats (no matter how much they mean it it hurts), and continue to fight for THEIR (young women) right in gay spaces. It’s homophobic because they tell gay men “your opinion doesn’t matter” and then act like their feelings are superior to a gay man’s feelings, about gay spaces. The same is true in reverse for lesbians and men who want access to those worlds and areas. If someone is identifying as “queer” they’re saying “I’m not gay but I want to included in gay spaces”. When someone says “any pronouns” they’re saying “I want to be included in the cool kids group and I don’t care that gay men and women have been judged for not adhering to stereotypes and have worked hard to reduce the stigmas of pronouns”. Young women have been hated on by the world and they’re rightfully angry and they don’t want to be the stereotype that the world says is an ideal woman. But when you befriend lesbians and gay men, they’ll show you there’s no wrong way to be a man, that there are no rules for how to be a woman. You’re a woman as you are. No nazi surgery required. No gatekeeping of spaces that aren’t yours required. So, all the young people crying about being “persecuted” for TIKTOK views and tumblr followers are not “liberal”. Their outcry has nothing to do with gay rights.

actually lrt i have been seeing this sentiment more and more on twitter lately that it makes me think that there is a return of the 2013 bi discourse part 2 electric boogaloo.

because there was this EXACT discourse on tumblr back then, especially centered around lady gaga (an out bi woman) brought her male partner to pride with her— and there was discourse surrounding whether bi people with opposite gender partners were queer or could refer to themselves/their relationship as queer/go to pride and/or experience straight privilege. (the answer to that last one is no fyi, bi people, especially bi women and bi trans people of any gender experience the highest amount of intimate partner abuse among the community, no matter who they are partnered with).

and that exact discourse is why back when ace discourse started to get loud around mid-to-late 2015 and all of 2016, a huge bulk of people who were supporting aspecs at that time were bi folk.

so like, shut this discourse down asap. it’s been done and tried and the resounding result was bi people are fucking queer regardless of who they date you fucking dinguses. bring your partner to pride, yes even if they’re cishet. bring them with you anywhere you want—your partner should love and support you and that includes getting a wider-scope of queer people if they’re cishet to be a better ally to everyone, and especially to you.
