saiki being an oblivious harem protagonist is the funniest concept ever to me... its so fitting with the normal tdlosk shenanigans too...

like imagine, maybe hes wearing his ring, is out of town, or doesnt have his powers in the exact moments someone realizes theyre in love with him.. so he doesnt have the benefit of immediately hearing the words "im in love with saiki" so he'll have to figure it out with context clues and yk. emotional intelligence.

notice how the only people we know had a crush on him in the show are people who very explicitly thought "i have such a huge crush on saiki.." "i think im falling in love with saiki!" "saiki youre my soulmate, kiss me!" but anyone else could have and he just didnt know... what about people who are more subtle with their feelings, people who havent even realized their own feelings yet, or even people who are actually pretty obvious but saiki just doesnt get it !

12. How long have you been watching/reading the Dragon Ball series?

i mean its not really a callout cuz i think everyone knows this 😭 i'd been watching db and dbz on tv since as far back as i can remember but i didn't actually start and finish the show (dbz specifically) until 2022 where i watched it all in one year. then you and me watched gt. then i watched the last two db arcs and i've read the first three volumes of the db manga so far, though it's all stuff i remember from childhood. also at some point as a kid i tried to watch db on youtube but i didnt get very far bc of the sexual gags

If I'm completely honest a lot of the design inspirations were because I dislike aspects of how Hussie designed them, but what else is new? I also ONLY started thinking about this because I think Danganronpa would be a genuine underground game show but that's not the point of this post.

To answer some common questions about my choices, orange horns in particular never made sense to me, and often clashed with the color palette of any drawing or panel, so I started coloring horns according to blood color. This poses a problem for hemo-anon people like Karkat, so my solution to it was to allow for horn painting! We've already seen characters with painted horns before (Karako) so I thought, "what if this is more normalized?"

I also thought it was super tacky that everyone had their blood color plastered on them at all times. I understand that was the whole appeal of trolls at the start, but it really does make designs get repetitive after a while. Besides, I'm sure there are other ways to tell someone's blood color without a t-shirt (especially with yellow bloods, which is why I made Sollux's sign red and blue).

ALTHOUGH, in hindsight, a lot of my designs have their blood colors more heavily inserted so take that point with a grain of salt ahdjhsjd.

It's not like I visualize Alternia drastically different, however one of my many opinions about HS now is how uncomfortable I am with how... young everyone is experiencing these things? So I sort of instinctually drew the main cast older (like. 16-18 give or take) to feel ok about it. So the designs ig can be treated as a "no game" AU of sorts. Where I can just enjoy troll shenanigans when they happen without canon getting in the way.
