It’s fun to think about the hypothetical fictional questions of “what psychologically separates humans from androids” but the answer to “what makes us human” doesn’t lie in psychology, it lies in biology, because androids will only ever be man-made but humans can make other humans from nothing soooo

𝟛| ℂ𝕒𝕘𝕖
One year before the present day
Scarlet never thought that she would be noticed. Her whole life, she'd been invisible, but she always pushed to get attention. At first, it was to gain attention from her no-good father, who cared more about his drinks and women than his daughter. So she ran away to her grandmother's house. And that was when she lived in France. They moved here to New Beijing to get away from her father. But that was not the real reason. Scarlet had the same power as her grandma, the ability to have perfect accuracy. That's why she won dart night all the time. Her grandmother realized that there was no opportunity in France, so they moved to New Beijing. She met Selene, a girl in foster care with a terrible foster family. But then, a new superhero started showing up, calling herself 'Cinders.'
And Scarlet was a bit obsessed.
She told Selene all about Cinders, how she dressed, rumors, why her hair is always in a ponytail, her secret identity, etc. Selene was still flustered when Scarlet talked about Cinders and never talked much about the superhero with her. Selene would always change the subject when Scarlet would bring it up. Cinders were Scarlet's idol! When Selene was 14, and Scarlet was 16, she revealed herself as Channary's late daughter. Scarlet already knew this, but when Selene told her she was moving to Blackburn Skyscrapers. Scarlet freaked. She was losing her best friend. But then someone else took an interest in her. No other than Cinders herself!
Now here she was, a year later from everything, and was working with Cinders. But no one knew about Scarlet's power, and she kept it a secret because she didn't feel the need to tell anyone. She was happy and still obsessing over Cinders, and hopefully, she would stay like this for a very long time.
"Scarlet!" a familiar voice rang through the halls of the abandoned factory that the superheroes took over as their 'secret base', "Look out!" Android came running in; her arms stretched out and tackled Scarlet.
"What! What happened! Is there danger!" Scarlet exclaimed before Captain Thorn came flying in, carrying a big pole. It was more like he was flying away from something, "Did you hurt Cinder again?"
"It was an accident!" Thorne yelled, "I didn't mean to hurt Cinder; she was in the way!"
"Well, guess what, Dingus! Next time you're going to open your eyes and look at your surroundings before you go pole vaulting!" Cinders appeared in the doorway, her mask covering her eyes, and had a messy ponytail falling apart. She usually wore an all-black outfit with a black leather coat that reached her feet with orange streaks running through them. Her hair also had orange highlights in them. Scarlet had to admit; it looked pretty cool.
"Sorry, gorgeous, I didn't mean to give you a black eye to ruin your perfect face." Cinders growled and facepalmed. Captain Thorn had a traditional superhero outfit. With the red cape and everything.
"We have visitors!" The Androids voice rang. She wore a bodysuit that had a low cut on her chest. The outfit had pastel blue and lavender purple streak the white background. The colors went well with her dark skin and blue braids. All three of them wore masks over their eyes.
"Who's here? Nobody told me that we had people coming over," Scarlet looked at Cinders, and every time she did, a rush of excitement went through her. It was almost as if she couldn't believe she was here with three superheroes! One of them was her idol! Her heart thumped, and she looked away.
"Just some friends. They have information on the people being experimented on in Blackburn Industries."
"Last time you said a friend was coming over, and now we have the Frenchling," Thorne said. Scarlet scowled at him, and he gulped, "What I mean is, are we going to get some new superheroes?"
"Possibly. It depends if they want to or not." Cinder picked her nail with the metal-covered hand.
"Hello, fellow superheroes. I am Winter Hayle-Blackburn, at your service" A girl with dark brown skin and a pure white dress walked in gracefully, followed by a man with pale blonde hair. When Scarlet could see her face, she gasped. This girl was beautiful! She saw that there were scars under her left eye and briefly wondered what could've caused them. How did everyone get so attractive all of a sudden? Is it like a superhero gene or? Iko gasped and looked at Cinder, then back at Winter like she figured something out.
"Hi, Winter. You already know me. This is Android, Scarlet, and Thor-"
"Captain Thorn"
"Thorn. Anyways, you said that you have news for us?" Winter's eyes went wide and looked at the man behind her.
"Right. Jacin and I would like to talk to you all about the man in the cage."
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
"Ze'ev Kesley," Scarlet murmured, looking at the file Jacin had given them, "Who names their kid Ze'ev?" She looked at Android, who only shrugged in reply. They were at the back of the Blackburn Skyscraper, and Winter gave them a lock combination t get inside. Winter also instructed them to go to the basement, and they will find Selene there. Scarlet was excited to meet her friend again but a little scared. What if Selene changed? Well, at least she had Cinders.
Android punched in some numbers and opened the door. "Since we're all alone, I have some questions I've meant to ask you ever since you joined the team," Android said like they were going to gossip about boys.
"Oh no," Scarlet said under her breath.
"So, first, are you into anyone?"
"No?"
"Why did you say that like a question?"
"I don't know?" Android huffed as they made their way through the back tunnels. She wore regular civilian clothes for a change, and a blue hoodie covered her striking hair. She also wore a scarf and sunglasses to keep her identity hidden from Scarlet.
"Well, I do, and he's so cute," sighed the superhero dreamily.
"When did you meet him."
"The other day."
"Makes sense," only Android could fall in love with a person in a day. They went inside the elevator, and Scarlet pressed the button that went towards the basement.
"What about Cinders?" Scarlet looked at Android, confused.
"What about her?"
"You look at her the same way I look at Kai Pierce every time I see him on a picture." It was then Scarlet knew for sure that The Android has officially gone cuckoo bananas. Scarlet began to laugh.
"You're ridiculous."
"I think that I'm right." Scarlet laughed some more.
"Then I look at you and Thorne the same way," Scarlet looked up, "It's just that you guys are important, you two are superheroes, and I'm just the girl who helps them with minor tasks."
Android looked at Scarlet weirdly, "You know, Cinder, Thorne, and I have been considering telling you about our identities. And adding you as a fully-fledged member to our team!" Then, in one motion, The Android took out her sunglasses and scarf, and Scarlet gasped.
"One, this is not happening. Two, I have never seen you before in my life, so put the disguise back on. Three, I don't have- wait, I do."
"You don't have what?"
"Are there cameras in here?!"
"Yes, but they can't hear what we are saying."
"Oh, ok. But they can identify you!"
"No one knows who I am."
"Right," a ding disrupted their conversation, the elevator doors opened. Scarlet walked and recalled the directions that Winter had given them. She couldn't believe what Android just did. Scarlet refused too. But wait, did that mean that she was part of the team now? Will she get a name and a suit. The thought of being a superhero excited Scarlet so much; she could be jumping up and down. Then she saw someone she hadn't seen in a long time.
"Scarlet, you finally arrived! Long time, no see. Hey Iko." Selene was wearing a white shirt with green cargo pants with gloves and grease all over her face and smiled at Scarlet. Her old friend shared a secretive looked with The Android- WAIT! DID SELENE CALL THE ANDROID IKO!
"You know An- Iko?" Selene nodded
"Yep, she's The Android.' I tried to convince her to get a better name, but she like 'The Android'"
"Y-you know. wh-what is h-happen-ning r-right n-now." Scarlet felt like she was going to faint. Selen knew The Android. SINCE WHEN!
"It seems to me that Selene over here is Cinders, and Iko is The Android, and I, the incredibly handsome Carswell Rampion, is Captain Thorn." A guy appeared out of nowhere and slid an arm over Selene. No, CINDERS!
"Sorry I kept it from you all this time. I didn't know you had powers, and I didn't want to leave one of my closest friends behind, so I thought it would be better not to tell you."
"Wow. Umm, okay, this took a turn I did not expect."
"I think this is probably an inappropriate time to cut in, but Winter said some heroes were coming in to rescue me. I'm assuming that you guys are them?" Scarlet looked at a man older than her with striking green eyes. He had handsome features, and when he locked eyes with Scarlet, she looked away. She could also feel her cheeks heating up. He was behind metal bars placed inside the wall, and Scarlet didn't know how she didn't notice him until now. Maybe it was because she was just told THAT HER BEST FRIEND WAS CINDERS! SCARLET'S IDOL! THE HERO OF NEW BEIJING!
"Are Ze'ev Kesley?" Asked Selene- Cinders. The man nodded his head. He also had unruly dark brown hair. Scarlet briefly wondered how it would feel.
"Okay then. Our sources tell us, and by sources, I mean Winter, that you can shapeshift into any animal, am I right?
"Well, each animal takes time and practice to morph into. Sometimes it's painful, but the wolf is my favorite, and it's the easiest to control."
"So, do you have a pack or something?" Scarlet butted in. Ze'ev smiled warmly. She could felt her heart do a little backflip.
"No, but if I did, I would probably be the alpha. Hopefully." He looked away as if he was in deep thought.
"Yeah, I think so too." She smiled at Ze'ev, and he smiled back. Unlike other, certain men, Ze'ev was nice and warm. She liked that. Biting her lip, she looked up and felt something warm rush through her.
"I think I see some sparks flying," The Android- Iko singsonged. Snapping out of her trance, Scarlet glared at Iko and Thorne, who were snickering. She looked at the superheroes and saw not the great, extraordinary, talented, power-wielding celebrities. She saw normal teenagers. And Scarlet was one of them. Her friends had spilled all of their secrets, so Scarlet felt she had to do the same.
"Hey, guys. I have something I've been keeping from you as well."

Connor is brought in to be interrogated after the revolution. He isn't all that surprised to find that Gavin Reed will be the one talking to him, but he is surprised to find out a few things about the man.
------------------------
Connor sat in the cool metal chair, waiting to see who would get to interrogate him. He knew Hank was out, he was far too close to Connor. Miller was nice to him, and after what happened he doubted it would be him. Fowler could do it himself, but Connor didn't see him doing that.
The door slid open and he glanced at it, trying not to smirk when he saw Gavin Reed shuffle in. He had a few bruises and Connor almost felt bad about that. Almost.
"Detective Reed, how's your face?" He asked, tilting his head. He shouldn't have been all that shocked that they chose Reed, he wasn't a bad choice. Perhaps Reed even volunteered to do this, get back at Connor a little bit.
Reed sat down across from him, glancing at Connor's cuffed hands. Was he worried Connor would try to get out? "Connor. You were surprisingly easy to bring in. You didn't resist at all, why's that?"
Connor gave a slight shrug. "I didn't want to cause any damage." Androids may have just gotten recognized as a sentient lifeform but that didn't mean they had rights. The arresting officer was kind enough to still offer a lawyer and a phone call, but Connor turned down both. He could have called Markus, but he could do that now if he wanted. He also had absolutely no need for a lawyer, he could do this alone.
"Yet you broke into Cyberlife, stole… it's property and threatened the US government with war." Gavin said. Connor bit at his tongue, why did Gavin hesitate? For someone like him, saying androids were property should be as easy as breathing.
"It was not meant as a threat, I was simply freeing my people." He'd do it again too, even if it meant he was actually going to get arrested. This just seemed like a show, going after one of the few leaders (though he still didn't consider himself one).
Gavin huffed, leaning back in his chair. "Right, marching hundreds of androids through the street isn't a threat. Even those models are stronger than plenty of humans." Gavin's eyes slide down Connor's body then back up to his face.
"As I said, it wasn't meant as a threat. If I wanted to threaten someone," he pushed forward, smirking when Gavin jerked back, "they'd know."
Gavin gaped at him like a fish, and with a scan, Connor came up with some very interesting results.
"So Detective, why don't you ask me what you really want to know?" He leaned back, crossing his legs as if to get comfortable.
Gavin glanced at the two-way mirror, before looking down at the table. When Connor scanned the window, letting him see through he was a bit shocked to see only Fowler there watching them. He gave the man a little wave and chuckled when he facepalmed. Did they not know he could see through it?
"Why didn't you kill me? You had the chance, hell you have the strength." Gavin's voice was quieter, and he rubbed at the scar on his nose before wincing at the pain. Shit, he hadn't meant to hurt Gavin at all.
"I didn't want to. You did your job, nothing more, and I respect that. I respect you, even if you're crude and snide. You seem to honestly care about your job, the city, and those that live in it. How could I kill a man like that?" He didn't mention how his only mission regarding Gavin was at first to get along, and then to find a way to subdue him. He was never told to harm or kill him.
Gavin let out a huff, shaking his head. "So the only reason I'm alive is that you just… didn't want to? Jesus fucking Christ."
Connor stood up, easily popping off the handcuffs. He tried to keep his face impassive as he watched Gavin's pupils dilate, his skin got a pretty flush, and he let out a small whimper. That confirmed one thing.
Connor gently rubbed at his wrists before sitting back down. "I apologize, those were a bit too tight for my liking. Now, the reason you are alive is that many people failed at killing you, I'm sure you have many scars to prove it. I didn't even intend to harm you, is your head alright?"
"I'm not qualified for this damn interrogation," Gavin muttered, glancing down at his lap. Connor looked over at the mirror and was a bit shocked to see Fowler had left and no one came in to take his place. "Fuck. Yeah, my head is fine Tincan. You punch like a nine-year-old girl."
Connor raised an eyebrow, pointing at the completely broken handcuffs. "I was holding back. Should I do the interrogation myself, we aren't getting very far."
Connor slammed his hands down, face turning serious. "You fucking did this! You killed those you humans." Then he shrunk back in his chair, looking terrified. "I had to! They were going to kill me."
"What the fuck," Gavin muttered.
"Then you should have let them! I doubt you would, you can't seem to stay dead anyway!" Connor snapped before he cowered in the chair. "I- how, how did you know that?"
"I've seen inside your head, I've seen-" before Connor could keep going Gavin cut them off.
"Ok! Wow, let's not do that again, Connor." Gavin shook his head while rubbing at his temples. "I'm not going to yell at you."
Connor bit at his lip, trying to stop himself from giggling. "Ah, why not? Are you scared I might like it?" He winked at Gavin, pleased when the human got even more flustered.
"I- um, I… we are getting off-topic." Gavin shook his head again. "I'm not here to flirt with you." He pushed away from the table, trying to hide the tent in his pants.
Connor moved quickly, slipping in front of him before he could reach the door. "You know I can turn off the cameras, Detective." He purred, his LED flickering yellow as he made the system go on a loop. "I could tell you were turned on from the moment you came in… I wasn't sure why until you kept mentioning strength."
He trailed a hand down Gavin's chest, feeling the man's breath catch. "You like me being strong, you like that I could lift you and toss you across the room like a stick."
Gavin gaped, leaning into the touch. "I shouldn't," Gavin whispered.
Connor gave a small hum. "I could ride you on the table, you won't have to do anything. I won't get tired either. But… if you want this to stop, I will. Just tell me and I'll move out of the way and never mention this again."
"Have you ever done this? Fucked someone or been fucked?" Gavin asked, but still hadn't given any indication he wanted this to stop.
Connor smirked slightly, before nodding. "Yes to both. You'd be surprised how willing and excited other androids are to express their freedom. I can give you a list of the people if you're interested." It was quite extensive, sometimes more than one at a time. Even with little time he still got plenty done.
"Fuck, wow. I uh, don't need the list. You fuckers can't carry STDs and that shit, right?" Gavin asked, pressing up against Connor.
Connor gently pushed them back towards the table. "I cannot carry or receive. It's a moot point to ask you if you are clean."
Gavin's back bumped against the table, and then he was pushing himself up onto it, Connor fitting perfectly between his thighs. "I am, I don't have any lube though."
"You really think a bunch of broke androids had access to lube? Don't need it, self-lubricating." He nuzzled at Gavin's throat, pushing off his leather jacket. His skin was so warm, his stubble tickling his lips pleasantly. He wanted more so he dropped to a crouch, pulling off Gavin's belt with deft fingers, glancing up at Gavin. "How do you feel about not being able to use your hands?"
Gavin nodded instead of answering, holding out his wrists. Connor snickered, making the belt into makeshift handcuffs. He pulled Gavin's hands behind his pack and slid it on, tightening it so he couldn't get out.
"Let me know if you need to be released… perhaps a code word?" He had used safewords before, some of his sexual partners were rather surprising in their sadism. "Do you have one in mind, or would you like me to come up with it?" It would need to be something simple and easy enough to remember, but it also needed to be something neither would normally say during sex.
"Blue for good, yellow for slow down, and red to stop." Gavin rattled off before flushing. Connor raised an eyebrow, but his fingers unzipped the pants and yanked them down.
"Well, I can't say I'm surprised. Is that off of the LED?" He let Gavin sit there while Connor's hands rested on his thighs.
Gavin glanced at the one-way mirror, but Connor reached up, grabbed his chin, and tilted his head back towards him. "Um, yeah."
Connor nodded, moving his hand up to rest over Gavin's bulge. He didn't put any pressure, but Gavin's hips still tried to buck up into his palm. "We aren't being watched, Fowler left a while ago. Do you like that idea, though? You want people to watch as I fuck myself onto your cock? They'd get to see how you whine and take it, unable to move as I hold you down." His smirk grew as he felt Gavin's erection twitch under his hand.
"No," Gavin whimpered. Connor tutted before pressing down on Gavin's cock, rubbing it a bit too harshly, yet Gavin threw his head back with a whine. Interesting.
"Your body says differently. Don't worry, I rather like it too. I got to show off a few times, not everyone likes to touch and participate, they just like to watch." Mirrors were also fun, and damn he was glad the room came with one.
He stopped rubbing abruptly, dropping his hand down to his own tented pants. He let out a breathy moan, eyes shut as he just basked in the pleasure. He could feel Gavin's eyes on him, shuddering at the sensation, and he only stopped because he had more plans.
When he opened his eyes Gavin was indeed staring at him, his own pupils blown so wide he could barely see any color. His face had a nice flush to it too, and Connor couldn't wait to see it contorted into absolute pleasure.
He nuzzled against the bulge, licking over the fabric. He kept giving little licks and kisses, looking up at Gavin through his lashes. He knew exactly what that was doing to the man. "You want more? Do you want me to take you in my mouth, I'll make it feel so good too."
He was very proud to say this was something he was a natural at. He'd gotten so much praise from it that it had his head spinning.
"Fuck, Connor you are… yes, just yes! You do whatever the hell you want." Gavin spread his legs wider, head resting on his chest to watch Connor.
Connor took his time pushing down Gavin's boxers, licking his lips at the flushed cock in front of him. Androids came in many sizes, some inhuman, but he liked Gavin's length, it was thick enough to fill his mouth and long enough to bump the back of his throat nicely.
He wrapped his hand around him, spitting on the head and using that to ease his slow strokes up and down. He bent his head to lick over the head, tasting that saltiness he'd grown accustomed to. Hell, he even looked forward to it, being able to taste those he pleasured.
Gavin inhales sharply, hips jolting up for more. Connor rolled his eyes and pressed his hips down with one hand, he was definitely going to leave very pretty bruises.
He very languidly licked from the base to head, finding the large vein that made Gavin bite back a moan. He took him into his warm mouth, his lips were already red and swollen. He gently sucked on the head with a low hum, dipping his tongue into the slit quickly.
Gavin templed until his skillful tongue, mouth hanging open while he panted. "Shit, fuck Con, just like that!"
Connor hummed again, repeating the action before taking him all the way down. He didn't have a gag reflex so he had no need to slow or stop, but he did give Gavin a very short moment to get himself under control before he started to bob his head.
He kept his gaze up on Gavin as he hollowed his cheeks, making a low sound purely for Gavin's pleasure. He felt so perfect in Gavin's mouth, but he pulled off just as fast as it all started. "Lay on the table, I want to be able to see myself in the mirror." He commanded, standing up and working on his shirt buttons.
Gavin scrambled to do as told, fumbling a bit when he couldn't use his hands. Connor did help him get his hands in front of himself, but he left the rest up to him.
He took his time folding his clothes and putting them on the chair while he had simply tossed Gavin's to the floor. He took himself in hand and pumped a few times before getting on the table too, the cold steel digging into his knees, straddling Gavin's lap. "Can I kiss you?"
Some didn't want to kiss, finding it too romantic, while others sought it out. Connor was the latter, he loved using his mouth and tongue so kissing was absolutely wonderful.
"Yeah, that's ok Con. Like I said, do anything you want." Gavin pulled himself up slightly to meet him for a kiss. It was gentle and curious, Connor gently running his tongue over Gavin's lips, asking for permission.
Gavin eagerly let him in, moaning when Connor massaged their tongues together. He ground down, their cocks sliding together deliciously, and both moaned into the kiss.
Connor wasn't gentle, he nipped at Gavin's lip and was pleased when it got him little whines and moans. He kept grinding down, feeling how slick he was already getting just from this.
He pulled back, but kissed his way down Gavin's throat, not leaving any marks where people could see. He didn't want Gavin to get in trouble for doing this, not when it was very happily consensual.
Gavin reached up, but Connor slammed his wrists back onto the table. "Hands on the table, Detective," Connor purred. Gavin nodded, straining against Connor's strong hold. "Are you testing my strength?" Connor sneered, tightening his hold on his wrists enough to be slightly painful.
Gavin whimpered, hips pushing up but that only made him outright moan. "N-no! I just wanna touch, you're so beautiful."
Connor silently preened but kept up his kisses and nips down Gavin's chest as far as he could without having to move down. He cupped one of Gavin's firm pects, squeezing it. Damn, he had a nice chest, he could just bury his face in there. His fingers skimmed over Gavin's hard nipples, tweaking them and grinning when he got another delicious sound out of Gavin.
He was close to dripping, so he sat up, reaching behind himself to prod at his entrance. His finger slipped in easily and the second slid in alongside it. He pumped his fingers in and out quickly, back arching at the feeling. "You ready?" he asked, glancing down at Gavin who still hadn't taken his eyes off of him.
"I should be saying that to you," Gavin rasped. He kept his hands above his head, though Connor could see his fingers twitching.
"I've taken much more than this, I'll be fine." He pulled his fingers out, wrapping his slick hand around Gavin's length, and lined himself up. He dropped down, taking it all without stopping.
Gavin hissed, back arching off the table and let out a beautiful strangled sound. Connor sat still, hands resting on his own thighs. Once Gavin seemed to control his breathing he lifted up before sinking back down, rolling his hips just slightly as he did.
He looked up at the mirror, seeing how Gavin's cock disappeared into his body as he bounced. He barely even looked disheveled while Gavin was a pure mess. He could smell the scent of sex and sweat and was almost overwhelmed by it. He never smelt the latter when with androids.
The sound of skin hitting skin filled the room and he was so glad he didn't have to focus to keep the cameras on a loop. He wasn't sure he'd be able to concentrate enough with how good Gavin felt inside him.
He tilted his lips just slightly and bit back a moan, finding that little bundle of wires that always made his head spin.
He sped up, not even giving Gavin a warning as he fucked himself on him, taking his pleasure with greed. Gavin's little sounds were so cute and needy, begging him to not stop, and so he didn't. He scrapped at Gavin's chest, leaving angry red marks that would be there that night when Gavin went to bed.
He could feel Gavin's heart pounding under his hands, and his own thirium pump seemed to want to beat in time. Gavin's muscles tensed under him, his breathing seemed to barely be able to come out and Connor knew he was close.
He grabbed at Gavin's wrists, getting them out of the makeshift cuffs. "Fuck, touch me. You can't come until I do." He ordered and Gavin was quick to comply. Gavin's thumb smeared the precome over the head and down his length, stroking in time with Connor's relentless pace.
Connor shivered, but his pace didn't become irregular like humans did, his thighs only shook from pleasure. His toes curled and his head fell back with a moan as he crested over the edge, his whole body squeezing around Gavin.
Gavin kept stroking him, Connor's own come covering his hand and dirtying his chest. Connor didn't stop bouncing even as he felt Gavin go completely tense, coming deep inside of him.
Connor seated himself down as the two panted, Connor couldn't help but grin. He always knew Gavin was somewhat sexually attracted to him, and now he finally got to know what it felt like to be fucked by him. Connor was very pleased to know Gavin exceeded his expectations.
"Holy fuck," Gavin murmured, eyes closed peacefully. He looked… beautiful like this, his body completely lax, his hands resting on Connor's thighs. It was the calmest and most tranquil he'd ever seen him.
Connor gently traced his jawline, then leaned down and gently kissed him. "Thank you," he said, pulling back, "for that. I'm sure you have more work to do and I need to get back to my people."
He very gingerly pulled off, glancing at the mess he made. That certainly wouldn't do. He took Gavin's hand and licked it clean before doing the same for Gavin's stomach and chest. He chuckled slightly when it got a groan out of Gavin, but then Connor offered a hand to help him up.
"Shit, yeah. I'm sure I can just blame Cyberlife or some shit for your 'crimes'. And uh, yeah thanks. If you ever wanna do that again…" Gavin trailed off as he grabbed his clothes.
"I know where to find you, Detective." Connor nodded, pulling on his own clothes.
"Gavin."
"Pardon?"
"Well, we fucked. You can call me Gavin, not Detective or some shit." Gavin shrugged, yanking on his pants.
Connor bit his lip as he nodded. "Very well, Gavin, I know where to find you. Oh, hand me your phone?" He held out his hand, hoping Gavin would just do it, and was surprised when he did.
After a very quick interface with it, he handed the device back. "There, I added the way to contact me directly if you wish to find me first." He rarely gave that out, but he didn't think Gavin would harm him, not anymore.
Gavin nodded, pocketing his phone. Connor sat back down on his chair, only sparing the broken handcuffs a glance. "Thanks, Connor. Uh, I guess I'll see you later."
He really hoped so, that had been incredibly fun but there was just something. He couldn't describe what it was, but he felt drawn to him. He wanted to see him again, like that, more than he wanted others. "You will." It was a promise. Whatever this feeling was, he knew it wasn't going away anytime soon.

i should also throw it out there real quick that i am kin w/ infinite, n this is actually one of my two canons (both of which are my own aus lmfao wow). i didn't go into it expecting it to be but sfsfsgdfs here we are ig!! for that reason it's got extra importance to me n this definitely contributes to the euphoria i get from it!! it's a lil odd writing ur own canon,,? but i kinda just go w/ the flow!
the au n, the story that i will start Eventually, revolves around infinite n starline (obvi) n it's honestly just ... the tl;dr is big healing momence n, what's this? uh oh sisters !!! they are falling in love 😳😳😳
uhhhh so infinite is an android, made by eggman. that's like, the most notable canon divergence here! super important context to have. i've got a whole big theory on the possibility of sega originally intending infinite to be an artificial being (which i explored in the works for my Other canon too), stemming from not only the scene in forces wherein infinite comments on sonic's "data", but a line of dialogue from tails in one of the last stages of the game where he Literally Says "so this is where eggman built infinite". that ... i mean. that contrasts w/ episode shadow pretty hard don't it?? would explain why that dlc was so rushed, n the comic too. ANYWAY adsfsfs um that's a seperate ramblepost. yeah!!!
they are also agender n use they/them (primarily) as well as he/him!! so i'll be refering to them w/ those pronouns!
after the war, infinite is taken in by the resistance n, instead of being dismantled, they're basically given a chance to rehabilitate themselves. it's agreed that they won't be reprogrammed, as despite the potential risks, it feels wrong to do so; like a violation of their free will, individuality n thinking. if infinite is to be a good person, it's not gonna be bc other ppl recreated their entire personality, it's gonna be bc it's what they themselves truly want. robot ethics idk man!! u can't tell me that sonic n co wouldn't offer this to infinite if they offered it to metal in IDW,,,, i am Standing By This!!!
it's, yknow, a bit rocky, at first. infinite has to really fight the urge to return to eggman (something they already tried once, before the resistance found them; they were cast out). it's a struggle against what they were built to do, against giving into unhealthy familiarity over facing a, while healthier, unfamiliarity. new faces, a new life, turning their back on their mission n creator, it's like, a lot.
they work for/with the sonic crew, rebuilding the world they tore down as deemed fitting justice, being closely monitored for a bit as a natural precaution. as it becomes apparent infinite truly no longer has any ambition to harm others (they don't have much ambition for anything, really), they're then granted more freedom, n start taking on more important missions!! it at least gives them something to do, keeps them occupied. they have issues with dissociation, unreality, whether they're truly a real person bc, well, android. feeling purposeless, n a lack of worth, especially. a need to prove themselves. heavy stuff. i'll kinda go into that a bit more in a sec. their work grounds them, if only temporarily.
n soooooo... IDW comic stuff happens. metal virus time. starline gets kicked out of the empire.
now, as the comics are ongoing, n as this is already an au, there's gonna be divergence, n i must admit i haven't planned out all that yet. there's a lot i have to consider!! infinite being w the resistance/restoration is a big game changer ... tho i Do believe that they were absent, likely on a far out mission during most of the chaos. eggman doesn't know abt them, nor does starline or anyone else other than the sonic crew; n some civilians that recognise them.
i'm not 100% sure of Exactly when it happens, but i think it's just after bad guys, that infinite is sent to locate n bring in starline. it doesn't prove too difficult. there's a whole, starline realising "oh fuck it's you???", some bickering n, the two don't hit it off right away. they're both kinda like. not mentally stable ddgddgdds,,,
so uh. starline ends up essentially going thru the same sorta shit as infinite. careful watch, rebuilding, all that jazz, making sure he can be trusted. he's like... very very lost, quite like infinite is. the world has kinda calmed down, in the meanwhile.
it's at this point i'm gonna go ahead n drop a bit of a ramble i subjected my friends to a while ago, to articulate the way i see the two, n their dynamic together!! i was considering making this it's own post a while ago!
analysing their characters a bit... let's look at starline. Like. so we have this, in bad guys, which SENT ME tbfh;
Tumblr media
i feel like it's the moment that triggers starline onto the path he is rn canonically,,, he's clearly like. rly mad n bitter. the core of this?? he wants his work n his efforts to be acknowledged.
he's big angry. still kind of in denial at this stage. he has himself obsessed w/ the idea of making eggman see him as Worthy, that if he just tries hard enough, that'll happen. he's dependent on eggman's validation, n i mean, it's no surprise; he's followed him a Long Time by the sounds of it.
then in the recent issue, hold the fuck up, bc we got, This;
Tumblr media Tumblr media
god. my god it's all comin together now homies. this???? this right here??? it is the CLASSIC "i have to do this to prove i'm strong n powerful n smart n worthy n should be respected please Give Me Acknowledgement" ..... n who else is Like That? can u see where im going w/ this?
i think most ppl are aware of infinite's character being extremely indicative of self worth/esteem issues n the need to prove themself, right?? the extreme adversity, repulsion, perhaps even fear toward the idea of being weak. the compulsion to prove otherwise, to show their strength, to become powerful, to conquer to make a point. their theme exudes this same energy as their behaviour in-game; an aggressive attitude, trying to assert themself, while if u rly listen...? the lyrics are actually really sad in places. it reeks of cover up, although composition wise, a v interesting thing to note is a lot of the more telling lyrics are prominent while some of the affirming ones are in the background. indicative of a desire to have their true feelings be heard but caught in a vicious loop?
okay okay that's yet Another different analysis. AHEM.
not to get deep on main (oh who the hell am i kidding that's the point of this entire thing) but i think starline has issues w/ his worth in a similar way to infinite. they both seem to have this need to Prove something, whether it's to others or themselves, n get caught in a toxic spiral of doing worse n worse things for Some kind of validation or acknowledgement. they'll go to really big lengths chasing that, n both of them ultimately sought validation in the wrong place n wrong way.
this is a big part of my starfinite dynamic,, n so, what happens, as they get closer n open up??? we have them BOTH realising together that they don't have to do fuck all to prove anything to anyone. they don't need to do all this to show they're strong n smart n worth something, not to anyone else OR themselves. they're enough as they are. they bond over that shared feeling that they have to do xyz, to prove themselves, n that desire to just finally be acknowledged n appreciated n help each other thru it. to help each other understand that other ppls approval, or lack thereof, doesn't define them, their strength, intelligence, and worthiness.
i feel like they have an interesting parallel between them in like... the above could be taken as a general analysis, but to go more in depth on this au specifically?? ...
starline followed eggman for presumably a long time n it no doubt left him feeling a heavy and deep regret for all that time wasted n spent on an unhealthy path. infinite kinda teaches him that what matters is what he's doing Now n also reminds him that if none of it happened, starline wouldn't have learnt a lot of the serious skills he has. n while starline still feels bad, he also realises himself that, he likely never would have crossed infinite's path if none of it happened. for that reason, he wouldn't take it back.
infinite has only been recently made, on the other hand. they haven't really existed long, yet, but so far their experiences haven't been very positive n it can be .... discouraging. starline sorta, shows infinite their limited experiences w/ the world are a very tiny fraction of what's out there, n things can absolutely change, yes, including for the better; that's the essence of life, a neverending, constant flow of change.
it's a big tale of moving on n letting go, honestly; made easier as they're doing it together. n as they heal n grow, well... these bitches gay. sfshshdgds like, ig that's putting it p bluntly but!! they start to trust each other, understand each other more. as they get to truly know who the other is, they both start developing The Feelings. they're both pretty oblivious n the reveal is totally unknown so far!! yeah, i know, bummer. i suck. boo. adafsfsds however i can say there will be lots of content in the making!! if that soothes the soul! i've got of ideas i hope to bring to life.
ofc there's still a lot of more specific things i haven't covered here so! if y'all want more juice hmu w/ more focused questions but !! this is the overview n i hope it was a decent read now that gave some uhhh! Cool Insight! yea!!! ✌

grief
under cut: a story of mei’s friends coping with her death, at least until...
There was no average time for how long it took people to grieve. Every mind processed loss differently, mourned differently, so there was no way to actually tell how long it would take someone to get better ‘usually’.
Maybe it was a few weeks, a month, a few years, never. Everyone did it differently. So when the entire unit was placed on mandatory bereavement leave for an undisclosed amount of time after the loss of Private Amari, they all found themselves at different points at different times, coping entirely differently.
Jonas couldn’t bear to look at his workspace, and more often than not he laid in bed or on the couch when he was dragged out by Ana, who’s only understanding of how to grieve was to help others around her. She was the eldest sister, so she saw it as her job to make sure everyone took care of themselves while she barely stopped to take care of her. Get Jonas up, make him eat, calm Rea down, call Icka and get no response, find Kro, offer to cook H something and get no response.
Clockwork. The unit always, always ran like clockwork, even when things were the most chaotic and unorganized. Rea didn’t wake them up anymore, so Ana did it instead. After an hour, she’d go knock on the captains door and pretend she didn’t notice how shaky he looked when he opened it and pretended to be annoyed with her. They rarely saw hide nor hair of H anymore, but that was expected, right? So Ana left food outside their door three times a day, talked to them through the walls, reminded them that the others would always, always be there for the Kayojin, and that they could stay on the unit or leave at their own will.
Kro’asha didn’t skitter through the vents because most of them passed Amari’s room, so Ana fetched things here and there that he had stashed… before.
Iggy was contained. Major’s orders. He was getting some great treatment, but apparently it was hard for the not-dog to rebond with someone like he did Mei. Ana got it, she’d feel the same way if she were a poor little alien canine.
The carpet was singed from the dogs last outburst before he was deemed a health hazard.
Karen disappeared. The moment they got back to base, the android disappeared, took a ship out of the Citadel and had gone completely off the grid. That made plenty of sense too, of course, Mei made Karen so of course the robot would be similar to her. Maybe it was good that they had left… the witty comebacks would have sat heavy on their hearts.
Her feet slid against the carpet as she carried a mug out to the living room, leaning over the back of the couch to offer it to Jonas. The man was curled up, silently watching a movie on the TV. He sighed, though, and took the cup offered to him with a quiet thanks.
“No problem, Jonesy.” Ana replied, teasingly, though her tone made the real hollowness of her words stick out like a sore thumb.
They both went quiet again, and they stayed that way for a few minutes before Jonas spoke up this time. The engineer leaned forward, setting the mug of cocoa down and locking his hands together. “I think we need to clear out Mei’s room.”
“Wow, first thing you’ve said today and you’re already off to a bad start.”
“No, no, I…” Jonas sighed and rubbed his face roughly before he spoke again, “Ana, it’s just… It’s just there. Full of everything that she was, and would be, and it’s like a fucking ghost just staring all of us down. I think it’s why H doesn’t leave their room. Hard to look across and see Mei’s room, ya know? And I…” He scanned the room around them, “I don’t think we should trash it, just… I think we should pack it up. Get rid of all the little ghosts that she left.”
“You wanna just erase our friend out of our lives?” Ana scoffed, “No. No! We’re not just going to pack everything away! Mei belongs… She belongs here! She can’t just get pushed in the back of all our minds!”
“She won’t be!” Jonas retorted, “It’s impossible to forget Mei even if you want to, and none of us want to, Ana. We also don’t need constant reminders that she used to be here, and now she’s not. I’m not saying today, or tomorrow, just… Eventually. Eventually we need to accept that it’s okay to put all her stuff away and move on.”
“I’m sure Icka’s gonna have a ton to say about that.” Ana mumbled to herself.
“If she ever comes back.”
“I…” She had lost this argument, she already knew it. Even if she didn’t want to admit it, Jonas was right. They didn’t need to leave Mei’s books out, or her shoes, the cat keychain she had imported… Those could all be put away, for their sake, and they wouldn’t stop thinking about Mei.
…But there was no way in Hell she was going to be the one who presented the idea to Rea.
The man was a bit of a hard-ass before he started the grieving process, but now? When he could be bothered to interact with his friends at all, he never followed schedule. He’d show up, ask how they were, then leave. Headed back for the training room. If you asked him anything between that, whether a general question or a request, you were going to get told to do it your own damn self.
Everyone grieves differently.
Rea worked, and got frustrated, and didn’t want anymore responsibility because he knew, knew, knew that he was the reason Mei died.
Jonas couldn’t work, and he was quiet and sleepy because he never slept anymore, hard to when all he could think about was how he could have stopped it from happening. Maybe if he’d just moved the sensors here, or made them stronger, or gone further up with the metal, or…
Icka formally resigned from her position as a medic and unit psychologist and went back to her home planet. She never talked to the unit anymore. Sometimes you just need to get as far away from your issues as possible.
H was mourning in their own way that was certainly frustrating for the rest of them. Ana cared for others to never think of her feelings. Kro’asha left the duplex and spent most nights in the general bunks so he wouldn’t have to see Mei’s things. Karen left the CCF entirely. Iggy bit people.
Clockwork. The unit ran like clockwork. Get Jonas up, make him eat, calm Rea down, call Icka and get no response, find Kro, offer to cook H something and get no response.
 Get Jonas up, make him eat, calm Rea down, call Icka and get no response, cry in the bathroom, find Kro, offer to cook H something and get no response...
Get Jonas up, make him eat, cry in the bathroom, calm Rea down, call Icka and get no response, cry in the bathroom, find Kro, offer to cook H something and get no response, cry in the bathroom.
Get Jonas up, cry in the bathroom, make him eat, cry in the bathroom, calm Rea down, cry in the bathroom, call Icka and get no response, cry in the bathroom, find Kro, cry in the bathroom, offer to cook H something and get no response, cry in the bathroom.
Cry yourself to sleep, then get Jonas up, then cry in front of him, then make him eat, then cry in the bathroom, then…
Ana was given mandatory meetings with another therapist as opposed to the grief counselor the unit was talking to already.
Three months, fourteen days, Kro’asha rejoined the duplex. Four months, three days. Jonas got up and made his own food. Five months, sixteen days, Rea woke everyone up at 7am. Seven months, eight days, Ana went through and packed away everything of Mei’s. Seven months, twenty days, H came out and joined them for dinner. Eight months, nine days, Icka called the unit.
Nine months, ten days, Karen sent them coordinates.
“Mandatory bereavement leave is mandatory.” Rea said as he followed his friends through the docking bay of the Citadel ship, “If they know we’re leaving for a possible mission, we’ll get added therapy, and I don’t think any of us want that.”
“Maybe you don’t, but I think Icks could use it.” Jonas replied.
Icka didn’t reply. The avian had come back just to investigate the coordinates sent, and she was certainly not the same alien who had left. None of them mentioned it.
“Listen, as far as we know, this is Karen just inviting us out to their cool new house!” He said, “No need to go worrying, okay?”
“When is anything that simple when it comes to an Amari?” Rea replied.
“He has a point.” Ana said as she stopped in front of a ship and turned, “This is the one we got, real clunker, but it’s not for fighting anyway so if we get in trouble… We’re thoroughly fucked.”
“We should not get in trouble.” H pipped up.
“Yeah, ‘cause Mei--ehhhhhhhhsnevermind.” Jonas quickly pushed past Ana to clamber onto the ship.
Everyone boarded quickly, got settled even quicker, and soon enough the on-leave unit was off with a rented pilot. “So, where are you guys headed? These are kinda in-the-middle-of-nowhere coords…” She asked.
“A friend invited us out to them, we figure they’ve either decided to go all mad-robot on us finally, or they have some cool party planned.” Ana replied.
“Cool, cool, but uh… Why on this place?”
“What place?”
“Do you guys not know?” The pilot cocked an eyebrow, leaning up to flip down a holographic screen that projected the area they were headed to, “It’s some little rinky-dink dwarf-planet set up, real seedy place. Mercs love the area.”
“Sounds like Amari territory…” Rea grumbled.
“Yeah, well, just be careful out there, it’d be a shame if I had to go home empty handed. Major’ed be all over my ass…” She sighed, her long, curled ears flicking.
The trip didn’t take much longer until the on-leave-unit saw the planet in the distance. The cities built on it clearly took up most of the area, the geography was all over the place but mainly seemed to be plains and hills, and as they approached the ground and actually broke the cloudline into the city it became very clear that this place was, in fact, ‘rinky dink’. The buildings were in poor condition, the streets were packed, the ships parked in the bay all looked stolen or like they were about to be hauled off for scrap. Rea sucked in air and sighed.
“Alright, we’re going to stick together out there, no need getting lost. H, try and stay somewhere in the middle, you’re incredibly small.”
“Kro’asha is smaller than me.”
“That’s why he’s going to be jumping on my shoulders. We aren’t that close. So stay close to me.”
The group unfurled themselves from their seats and piled out onto the streets. It definitely smells like a city, despite how cramped and busy it seemed the air was clean, the water was clean… Good ol’ Citadel influence.
“Coordinates are up ahead, a little to the right.” Rea announced as he led the group through. He was certainly an intimidating figure, and the crowd seemed to begrudgingly part for him as he walked through with little concern for who was in front of him.
“What, in the apartments?” Jonas asked from the back of the group, “Shit, Ana, you might be right, Karen’s inviting us to their house.”
“Never that easy.” Rea retorted as he cleared a path towards the clearly labeled apartment complex, opening the gate and letting his friends file through. “No one make a scene, okay?”
“Yeah, ‘cause I was planning on doing some fuckery.” Jonas replied.
“I mostly meant Kro’asha and Icka, but I do appreciate the energy.”
“Can we please just go inside?” Icka replied, a harsh tone to her voice. That was definitely knew for the group, and all of them seemed to share the same discomfort as they nodded and walked quickly for the entrance. As soon as they had all filed in, a young alien at the front desk turned to them, and went pale. Their hands were webbed, but they still typed at the computer in front of them quickly as they stared at the group with large, completely pink eyes. They almost looked like a frog, honestly.
“Karen Amari is in 247, they’ve been expecting you. They said you’re late.” They said, motioning for the group to head towards an elevator.
“This is terrifying.” Ana stated.
“We are on time, I don’t know why Karen said we’re late.”
“Focusing on the real issue as always, H.”
Still, despite the obvious discomfort that the building held, the feeling that they were walking into a trap, the unit persisted. What else were they going to do, ya know? They’d already made it all the way out here, and knowing Karen, they’d kill the whole group if they never showed up.
The large group managed to cram themselves into the elevator, then down the narrow, twisting hallways that led to Karen’s apartment. That they somehow got… The Amari’s really were an enigma, weren’t they?
H was the first to spot the door, stepping over to it and giving a simple knock. Before they could rapt their knuckles against the wood a second time, though, the door swung open to reveal Karen, staring out at them all. Their stickers and bow had been peeled off, and they seemed to have acquired some new… stains that definitely-were-not-blood… But it was Karen.
“Hello.”
“Hello, H.” Karen replied, “It’s nice to see you, I’m glad you all made it, I’m going to need as much help as I can get with this.” The android stepped back and motioned for them all to come in, “It’s easier to have familiar faces here, reduces time spent in a natural state--”
“Karen, I’m begging you, begging you,” Icka said, “To please, those above, not waste our time mumbling vagueness and incoherent sentences, and just tell us why we’re here. I came a very long way, and I’d like to get back to my pottery and mourning in peace, thank you.”
“I see grief has left its mark on you.” Karen replied quickly, “A shame that it was all for not.”
“Charming as always when it comes to opinions on emotions, K.” Jonas murmured.
“All for not, because you had no reason to grieve. Mei is alive.”
Nine months, eleven days, and Karen had gone fucking insane.
H was the first to reply with a grimace and a firm shake of their head, “No, she is not.”
“Yes, she--”
“No, no, Mei died in my arms, she is not alive. You can’t tell me she is. You can’t make me believe that. You can’t.”
Ana reached a hand out to put on the Kayojins shoulder with her own grimace, “Karen, you should come with us, okay? You obviously aren’t doing well out here, and… Listen, I know it’s easier to believe--”
“Would you like to see her?”
The silence that overcame the group was deafening and instant. H’s breath hitched, Icka’s feathers puffed, Rea simply closed his eyes and shook his head almost disappointedly. Despite their pleas, how desperately they wanted to not fall for something so impossible, H spoke up, breathily, “Yes.”
“Over here.” Karen turned and walked towards the other side of the apartment, where the walls had been carefully cut to reveal the apartment next door. They walked through the gap they had clearly created, and stood off to the side to reveal a large room that was clearly better taken care of than the rest of the building. A soft lighting shone into a covered box that was connected to different canisters and boxes with long, thick hoses, and Karen carefully stepped over them to reach a screen just on the other side of them.
“She took the idea from her father, he wanted to use Talvak genetic research to help heal injuries, but never perfected it before his death. She had an endless supply of Talvak DNA, however, which made it easier.” Karen was intensely staring at the screen as they typed in various things, “The base idea was there, but Mei also never finished the project before her death, which left it in the very capable hands of me, her firstborn.”
Silence.
“I don’t know why I was expecting a response.” The android murmured before carefully pushing the curtain that draped the box off to the side of it’s rod, revealing a UV light shining down on a metal capsule. The top of it had a glass window, though the group was too far away to see inside, wires and the likes connecting it…
“Come here, H.”
They were moving without a second thought, nearly stumbling over to the robot and hopefully moving to their toes to peer into the container in front of them. They had an aching feeling that it would be empty, that they wouldn’t see whatever they were expecting… Mei, or someone like Mei, or...or… Something. Anything to remind them of her. But they still looked, just in case, just in case Karen hadn’t truly lost themself in the grief.
And wouldn’t you know it…
Black hair, pointed ears, sharp features… No scars, but still so very much Mei Amari, and H’s heart skipped a beat, their breath stopped. This couldn’t be real, could it? No, no, she was dead, so very dead, and she didn’t look like this when she died, but here she was and… And she looked just like her old pictures. With her dad.
H spoke in Kayojin, and the unit each had their own hopes as they crept forward.
It was… a loud few minutes.
Finally, Icka lurched forward and grabbed Karen’s shoulder with a frantic look in her eyes and a wide, sharp-toothed smile, “How. How did you do this? Is that her? Really her?”
“Mei was careful to have a constant digitization of herself both mentally and physically. She often scanned and mapped out the salient features of her brain, and then stored and copied that information state into a harddrive that just so happens to be me.” Karen explained it like it made sense, like it was absolutely nothing.
“The day before the mission, she uploaded, and using what DNA I had from her I was able to facilitate a regeneration of a biological body with the information I had. Of course, I also needed her actual body so I… Listen, is it important? She’s here! And I broke intergalactic law, so I would rather not tell you every detail.” The robot gently removed Icka’s talons, “I spent months perfecting her body and keeping it alive, and her brain was no help, always trying to rebel against the process. I tried releasing her once,” Their yellow hand brushed up against an obvious dent in their chassis, “It appears that when initially released, she’s reverted back to her Talvaa instincts until her brain can properly cope with what’s happened.”
“So… You… You brought us here to make her remember us?”
“Correct. Step back please, all of you. Please be warned, she is very naked, and given her last physical scan was after her amputations… While she can’t walk, she’s still very fast.”
It’s an odd thing, standing back so a robot can open up a metal box that contains a reconstructed version of your girlfriend. But H did it, nervously, hopeful, hands clasped as the lid raised with a hiss and Mei sat straight up with a cough and a sputter, leaning right over the side of the container with a dry heave and a shudder.
“Mei.” Karen called.
Mei flinched away from the noise, snarling as she jumped back further into the box she sat in. Everything about her seemed wrong in that moment, the way her body moved, the look in her eyes, and that’s why H stepped forward. They couldn’t help it, they saw Mei and she looked so scared and the last time she had looked like that It made H’s stomach churn, and when they stepped forward Mei’s head snapped towards them.
It was a tense few seconds, silent seconds, and Rea also moved forward to put a hand on H’s shoulder, just in case… Listen, he didn’t want to boot a friend he’d missed for months across the room, but he would if she was about to bite someone.
Thankfully, that moment never came. The confusion and fear on Mei’s face slowly faded, and she blinked rapidly before she shook her head and looked back up at H. Then, a smile. A stupid, crooked, fanged smile as the Japanese woman leaned forward and motioned for H to come forward.
“Shit, I feel like I died.” She joked as the Kayojin stumbled forward, throwing their arms around her as soon as they could and pulling her into a tight hug. “Least I don’t…” Mei tightly hugged them back with a grin, “Least I don’t look like death, right? ‘Cause I know my ass looks great naked.”

Inktober 2020 #30: Ominous
A sharp and bitter autumn day, the kind that made you glad of the classroom's warmth.  Danielle Corbeau and Belle Resone walked down the street to the Okusanya house, with a bookbag floating behind Resone, trailing her like a patient pet.  Ayumi had stayed home today, ostensibly due to illness, but they both knew better. Ayumi couldn't get sick.  Most likely her father had kept her home to help him with something.
"He could have asked us," Danielle groused.  "I'd have been glad to stay home."
"So'd Ayumi.  And Dr. Okusanya's not our father, much as we might like."  Resone was uncharacteristically cheerful-- not that she was normally depressed; normally Resone was an emotional cipher, showing about as much emotion as your typical android.  Today she walked with a spring in her step and a faint, almost imperceptible smile on her lips, which for Resone was what skipping down the street singing would have been for anyone else.
"I wish," Danielle muttered.  "What are you so happy about?"
"Am I?" Resone frowned slightly. "I suppose so.  Look, Danielle."  She turned and gestured at the patiently floating bookbag.  "I can control it."
"Wow." Danielle was not impressed.  "You've been able to control the teek ever since I met you.  You just need to be in the right mood."
"No, I--" Resone stopped in some confusion.  "This is the first time, isn't it?"
"You don't remember?"
"Oh, right." She had lost the faint smile, though, her face reverting to its usual expressionlessness. The only way Danielle and Ayumi knew she wasn't an android was the few times the floodgates had opened, and Resone had gotten violently emotional. Andys did have emotions, but they didn’t have hormones, so that kind of behavior was not a thing they’d do. She never admitted to these episodes afterward, but they were enough to prove that she wasn't an andy.  That, and the fact that andys didn't have psi, according to Dr. Okusanya, and he was the world's top cyberneticist, so he'd know.
They turned a corner and passed a group of guys.  "Woo-oh!" Danielle turned her head to watch them as they passed, leering. "Check out the buns on the blond there!"
"Danielle, you're almost as obnoxious when you do that as the guys are when they do it."
"Come off it, Resone. Either I'm every bit as obnoxious or no one is.  Hidden sexism, you know. Oh, wow!"  Resone followed Danielle's gaze to a stunning redheaded girl.  "Excuse me."
"She's got a boyfriend," offered Resone as advice.  "And she doesn't like you."
"Who asked you?" Danielle slid into an alleyway and transformed, taking male form. Resone had seen this scene before-- she didn't need her precog to tell her how it would come out.  Daniel, now, would attempt to charm the girl, and either get into her pants or get hit.  Most likely get hit.  Resone had already divined the girl's opinion of Daniel.  She didn't need to watch.
//don't you?//
Resone lifted her head slightly.  Someone had spoken.
Who's there?
No answer.
Something was happening. Resone tried to analyze it, but it was no more yet than a prickling at the edge of consciousness.  She'd have to wait for it to come.  Perhaps it had something to do with Ayumi.  She continued on a path for the Okusanya house.
Once there, she paused at the threshold.  She's not here.
`Something was happening. An electric current in the air. Something she hadn't seen, yet. From somewhere inside, Resone felt the first faint uneasy stirrings of fear.  She liked things predictable.  If she saw it ahead of time, she could compensate.  Predictable and safe.  The other way was nightmare.
mommy please don't i'm sorry
No.  The fear went away, like that.  Like a circuit breaker in her mind, shutting off emotion.  She pushed open the door-- and turned, startled, as with a thud her bookbag fell to the porch.
Wasn't controlling.  I must be more careful.  Resone picked it up, brushed it off and went into the Okusanya house.
Dr. Seye Okusanya was working on something.  Resone waited patiently outside his door for ten minutes before realizing that he was far too distracted to notice her when her whole field projected a don't-notice-me aura.  "Excuse me.  Dr. Okusanya?"
He turned his head. "Ah, Resone.  Is Ayumi in detention again?"
"No..." Resone was esper.  More than simply meaning she had psi, it meant she had perceptions outside the sensory realms, and she integrated faster than most.  It occurred to her, now, that Dr. Okusanya had not kept Ayumi home. Therefore, something else had kept her from school.  Due to Ayumi's desire to be a Peacekeeper, that something was more than likely trouble.
"I think she's in danger," Resone said.  "She and Danielle both."
"What?" Dr. Okusanya turned all the way around.  "Why do you say that?"  He then remembered that "why" was a nonsensical question when dealing with Resone. "What sort of danger?"
"When did you last see Ayumi?"
"Why... last night. She said good night to me."
"She was abducted between here last night and the school this morning," Resone said. "Or perhaps enticed.  It's hard to say.  I left Danielle behind on the way here, but I shouldn't have.  I didn't sense the danger."
"What's the danger?"
"I don't know."
"Well, let's have you do a psychometric location, see if you can find her.  And Danielle.  Does the danger know what the three of you are?  Is it targeting you three in particular, or is it going after the population in general?"
"I don't know." The fear was beginning to stir again.  That wasn't right.  Resone was never afraid, not of anything.  But then, she always knew how it would come out.
Ayumi's scarf, from her bedroom.  Ayumi loved that scarf, wore it whenever they were going on a job.  It had to be something with emotional resonances. Resone picked it up and wound it around her tiny hands, picturing Ayumi.
Ayumi Okusanya-- tall, with deep brown skin, the flawless body of an African goddess, Japanese features that might have been delicately beautiful if they weren't pulled into a scowl all the time, and frizzy pink hair.  Everything about her screamed "attitude."  Teachers hated her, and she returned the favor with interest-- unless they were that rare breed of teacher that could see through the tough-girl pose to the wounded child inside.  Ayumi was a full-body cyborg, made so at the age of 5 by an accident that had killed her mother, and now very little of her was still organic, as of course she'd had to transfer bodies every two or three years to accomodate her growth.  The body she wore now was a state-of-the-art android with an interface to her human brain and actual hormonal glands to enable a full range of emotional experience, since unlike an andy Ayumi had a brain that could interpret emotional inputs. It looked, felt, and smelled fully human, and had been designed by her father to Ayumi's own specifications.
But it was the first body she'd had that couldn't be pegged as a cybe.  The first body she'd had, as a small child, had been crude and robotlike, matching the then-current android technology, and though each new body had been cutting edge, the edge hadn't reached humaniform until now.
In fact it could be argued that Ayumi's pain at being a freak had been part of what had driven android bodies to improve so rapidly, as her father was the leader in the field and was probably so because he'd been personally driven to make his daughter the best bodies possible.  But having a fully humaniform body now didn't erase ten years of being a freak.  Ayumi couldn't quite believe that people were no longer laughing at her clumsy metal body, and it made her lash out.
At the same time, despite her reputation as a JD, Ayumi was truly committed to helping people.  She wasn't a school nark or a monitor, because she couldn't handle toadying to the Establishment.  But she had, for the past schoolyear and change, used her rep to get the lowdown on the gangs and the deals, and reported to her father, who reported to the police.  Tifaret High was a lot cleaner now than it'd been this time last year.  Ayumi wanted to be a Peacekeeper, and she didn't want to wait the three years until she'd be 18 and it'd be legal, she wanted it now.  She wanted to prove that teens could be effective Peacekeepers too.
When Resone had first detected the dimension warp and recruited Ayumi and Danielle against it, it had been Ayumi who gave the group its strength.  Resone was the brains and Danielle was the guile, but Ayumi was the heart of the three, her passion driving the other two.  Since that time, the three had actually become best friends, despite their differences.  It would hurt, if Ayumi was suffering.  It would hurt, and Resone pulled back, not wanting to see what she would see.
But of course, she saw it. The ice came down, freezing her in perfect control, blocking away the pain, as she saw Ayumi trapped in a genie bottle, shouting curses.  Resone couldn't see Ayumi's body, but could tell where it was likely to be-- hooked into a virtual reality simulator.  Ayumi was inside a computer, and didn't know it.  She was no linerider like Danielle-- she would be totally unable to alter her surroundings, even if she knew it wasn't real.
Resone couldn't see Danielle, even when she held Danielle's mojo stone, but that wasn't surprising. Danielle was quicksilver, a water elemental, flowing and changing shape, with little constant enough to make a firm psychometric imprint.  She did, however, get a very distinct impression from touching the stone. Words, symbols, resolving into a phrase.
OUR LADY OF MERCY HOSPITAL.
"The hospital," Resone said.  "Mercy Hospital.  A virtual reality, and a hospital..."
"What's happened to them?" Dr. Okusanya asked.
"They were lured. Tricked into going to the hospital, separated from the rest of us.  Each of us, one by one.  Dani, they used sex, of course.  Ayumi, they presented with one in need of rescue."
"And you?  How will they go after you?"
"Oh, they already have. Obligation and loyalty.  I'm going in after them."
Dr. Okusanya considered. "They'll be prepared for you, if they're luring you.  I think you need some kind of equalizer."
Resone stood behind ice, insulated, and watched herself say, "Don't worry, Dr. Okusanya.  They don't know me well enough to prepare for me."
***
Resone was a tiny, albino female of fifteen, still not quite 5 feet tall, with a mane of fluffy white hair, watery blue eyes she generally concealed behind extremely dark prescription sunglasses, and a girlish, undeveloped body.  One would think she would be very difficult to disguise.
One would think.
With hair braided and hidden under a short, dark blonde wig in a boy's cut, with dark contacts replacing dark glasses and makeup to make eyelashes and eyebrows look brownish-blond and not white, with tape wrapped around her tiny breasts and a boy's school uniform on, she felt very masculine in a boyish way.  Not Resone anymore.  This was Jason.  Jason turned this way and that, surveying his appearance in the mirror.  He wasn't very objective, of course-- he always saw himself as male, since that was what he was-- but Resone could be objective, and objectively she looked like Jason.  So let it be.  She let herself be Jason, and strode off purposefully, heading for the hospital.
//Something's happening, and you don't know what it is, do you, Belle Resone?//
Nobody here by that name. Sorry.
He walked to the hospital, sensing dimly a gathering storm.  The warp was active.  This was another stage of the strange war the intruders waged.  The hospital was not the hospital.  The street was not the street.  Like traveling between air and water, he stepped onto the street and everything was different.  Yet he couldn't tell exactly how it had changed.  Everything looked the same.  Change of refractory index-- inside, it was the same. It was the outside that was different.
Jason was afraid.
He wanted to be Resone again.  Resone was sheltered under ice, cold and insulated from fear.  But Resone couldn't do this.  They were looking for Resone, so she could never walk in directly under the eyes of the receptionist.
"Young man, where are you going?"
The receptionist was a pinched and dusty old lady with piercing glasses and the smell of moldy fish, not quite drowned by antiseptic chemicals.  "I'm visiting someone," he said.
"It's not visiting hours," the turtle-mouth snapped.
A stained clockface on the wall read a dreary four o'clock.  "When are visiting hours?"
"Not until five."
Hands of the clock spun, aged and rusty things responding to Jason's will.  He was dominating, not like passive Resone.  He was free to act, to control.  "But it is five," he said.
"It's only--" The receptionist glanced up.  Jason worked the same alchemy on her watch as she looked away, so it confirmed the lie. "That's strange.  Where does the time go?"
"The time eaters get it," a tall black man said, and laughed at his own joke.
"Who are you here to see?" the receptionist asked.
The lobby was filled with people, loud and chaotic.  Old smelly women with bulging black handbags as weapons against the world.  Young women in loose t-shirts with huge breasts and screaming dirty children clinging to them.  Snot-nosed brats of 11 or so flinging slingshot spitballs at each other. Dirty unshaven men in undershirts with beer bellies.  And the black man with the spiked dreadlocks, the mishmash mismatched clothing that covered plaid, solids, spots, in bright and loud colors, a ridiculous leisure suit and a ridiculous bowtie, askew, over a Day-Glo yellow shirt.  The man with the piercing grin.
//Something is happening, but you don't know what it is-- do you, Belle Resone?//
Jason pulled a name and a number out of the air.  "Room 23B," he said.  "Rachel Buscaglia.  I'm her brother."
"You have to be over 14."
"I'm 15.  I'm short."
//You're also a girl, girl-child.//
Shut up.  I'm a boy.  "Can I see her?"
Unable to find another reason to prevent him, the receptionist muttered, "I suppose so. Elevators are back that way."  She gestured vaguely.
Jason lost it as he left the waiting room.  The man in the mismatched clothes was following him, and a surge of fear swamped him. Be Resone, cold, controlled. Resone turned to face the man, safe behind a thin but strong layer of ice.  "Excuse me, why are you following me?"
"We're going to the same place," the man said cheerily.  "I'm Rachel's brother, too."
Resone frowned. "Rachel who?"
"Rachel Buscaglia. You remember, girl-- or maybe you don't, oh well.  But we're going to the same place.  You're gonna need help."
"I don't need help. I don't know you."
"I'm the March Hare."  He grinned broadly.  "Also known as the Cat Who Walks Through Walls.  That was a book by Heinlein, long time ago.  Good book."
"Who are you?"
"Who are you?"
"Resone.  I'm Resone."
"I like your first name better."
"What?"
"Belle. Bella.  Beautiful.  Vous erez La Belle Dame Sans Merci, n'est-ce pas?  The Beautiful Lady Without Mercy.  Ah, Bella."
Resone stiffened. "Don't call me Belle.  I don't go by it."
"Somebody does."
"What?"
"For someone who's supposed to be such a hot esper and have so much on the ball, you can be dense, chère Belle."
"Don't call me that! I'm Resone!"
A white heat threatening to crack the ice.
my belle my beautiful belle come to daddy belle
The ice engulfed.  The anger drained out into the encroaching dark. Why should I care what he calls me?  "I have things to do."
"So do I.  By some strange trick of fate, many of them are the exact same thing as yours.  How's that for coincidence?"
"Hmm.  You're an esper, I take it."
"You know all about me, Bella.  All you have to do is think."
"Perhaps I don't care to."
She headed for the staircase.  Danielle should be found first, because she could hook into the line and find Ayumi. Resone might be esper, but she wasn't a linerider.
"Perhaps not. Where to?"
"Find Danielle."
"Could be rough. I think our friends are about to find you."
"Really." Resone didn't sense any danger-- but then, her senses seemed to be somewhat dulled here. “What am I expected to do about that?”
“Well. You in the mood for a fight, or you wanna hide and keep your powder dry?”
“I think I should hide,” Resone said, looking around. The elevators were coming. 6, 5, 4, on one elevator. 5, 4, 3 on the other. Her eyes fell on a set of double doors that she wasn’t supposed to go through. There.
The March Hare, or the Cat Who Walks Through Walls, or whatever his name was, followed her. “Interesting choice.”
As soon as she was through the doors, she whispered to him. “You are too distinctive. There’s no way I can not be here with you beside me. Go away.”
“Mm, no.” The Hare opened the nearest door. It was an empty examination room, darkened. “I don’t see any reason why we can’t join forces. Hide in here.”
Resone raised an eyebrow. “A fifteen year old girl hides in an empty hospital room with a grown adult, probably in his forties at least, that she doesn’t know. What’s wrong with this picture?”
He sighed explosively. “Bella. Such a correct and careful girl you are. Do it or don’t, but I can’t help you if I can’t talk to you, and we can hardly talk while you’re not here.”
“I think you can talk to me when I’m not here,” Resone said. “I think you’ve done that a few times today.”
A broad grin split his face. “Guilty as charged, but there’s can do the thing, and then there’s can do the thing and still have the juice left to run a mile or jump a fence. C’mon, Belle, I gotta save it for the parkour.”
Resone was used to knowing everything she needed to know. Remain passive, remain quiet, but look at everything. She was legally blind, and her mother couldn’t afford to get her cybeyes – Dr. Okusanya had offered, but for some strange reason her mother hadn’t been willing to entrust the father of a random school friend of Resone’s with doing surgery on her child, even if he was well regarded in a field she knew absolutely nothing about. Imagine that. But she watched everything, and she listened to everything, and if she held still, knowledge just came to her.
This man was an incomprehensible black hole. He was a singularity where knowledge went to die. Resone wouldn’t tolerate that.
With the faintest sag of her shoulders that on anyone else would be an explosive sigh, perhaps with eye roll, Resone went into the hospital room and let the March Hare shut the door.
“I’m going to begin by saying you’re an asshole,” Resone said. “And extremely creepy.”
“Oh, now ‘asshole’ I’ll own to, but when you say ‘creepy’ it sounds less eldritch horror and more Uncle Grabbyhands. If that’s what you’re picturing there then you got it all wrong.”
“You keep calling me by a name that’s not mine. You’ve referred to me as ‘beautiful’ and ‘the beautiful lady without mercy.’”
“A man can’t make a play on words about your name? I was joking, child. Have I touched you? Looked at you anyplace below the chin? But I’ll admit, I’m not used to dealing with kids, and I’ve been around a long time. Was a time they’d have strung me up for talking to you, white girl… if they could catch me. I’m gonna talk the way I know how, but I don’t mean nothing creepy about it. Unless you mean creepy like Slenderman or the man hook door hand story. In which case I absolutely mean it.” He grinned.
“Are you going to call me by my name?”
He sighed. “I suppose. You know, a fellow has as many names as I do, he doesn’t get so hung up on them. And you’ve got a lot of names, too, but then again… I’m guessing you don’t. Can’t read you as well as I’d like, to tell the truth.”
“The feeling’s mutual.” Indefinable pressure. Time, pushing at her, and a sense that space was congealing around her. If she didn’t move soon she never would. “Who are the enemy?”
“Well, chère, thereby hangs a tale.”
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is all I have on a story called “Welcome to the House of Fun”. It’s quite old; I had to revise a good bit, mostly for cultural reasons (Ayumi’s dad, for instance, originally had a name that was African, but it was an African woman’s first name and the last name is a word but not a name, mostly because in the 90′s and early 00′s we did not have the resources for research that we do now.)
The time stamp on the file before I started working on it claimed I started this in 2001. I’m pretty sure it’s older. Ayumi, Danielle and Resone are a trio of teenage heroes (do not call them magical girls) who are essentially a mishmosh of elements from other stories. In Ayumi I’m counting Asamiya Saki from Sukeban Deka, Cyborg from Teen Titans and The Major from Ghost in the Shell, at least.
There is some stuff in here that is very, very 90′s, DC Vertigo-inspired, that I am likely to pull back on. I may rethink what’s going on with Resone, or maybe not.

A Meal
This is part 1 of the first meeting I have with Philly (and the rest of the gang) >w< part 2 hopefully coming soon!
"Hi! I'm Sam! I'm a Special Assistant Model robot from Botica! Can I ask you some questions?" Sam extended her hand happily, despite having done so and been ignored enough times to make a human give up.
Wendy paused, staring at Sam. "Hi, I'm Wendy...uh...can I ask you some back?" She asked, tentatively giving Sam a handshake.
"Of course! First of all, will you be my friend?" Sam asked. "Friendship is my speciality!"
"S-sure. Yeah, that sounds good!" Wendy's smile was wider than Sam's now, despite Sam's clear joy.
"Yay! I'm here with my friend Casey, a maintenance bot, and Philly, who is taking us to Gara's Keep! Philly has asked me to find food but no one has stopped to help me when I've asked, and I'm not sure where to get some." Sam explained, putting a hand on her chin thoughtfully. "I would greatly appreciate your help!"
"Oh, well, that's pretty easy! Come with me, I'll get your friend some of the best grub in town." Wendy motioned for Sam to follow her and started walking. Sam smiled and followed beside her. "So, uh...what're you doing way out here? Botica is...pretty far." Wendy narrowly kept herself from adding and destroyed. She had heard rumors...which were the only thing anyone had heard, since Botica had never given half a shit about these lawless desert communities.
"I'm trying to find my friend, Prince Kelby! I am certain he's being taken to Gara's Keep." Sam replied.
Prince Kelby? Like, the Prince of Botica? Woah.
"Uuuh...um, I hope this isn't too blunt, but was um...I mean I heard...that Botica was destroyed?" Wendy asked tentatively, watching Sam's reaction closely.
"That is correct." Sam replied, the same gentle smile on her face. "Prince Kelby is being taken to safety. I must help him."
"I...see." Wendy thought about this for a moment. She had always dreamed of going to Botica. Botica was full of advanced tech, unlike the shithole towns that made their home in the desert. The only tech around here was generally stuff that had been salvaged, most of which had seen better days. A few people, like herself, made their own tech, but they were few and far between.
"And you're also an android, did you say?" Wendy questioned, trying to keep herself from sounding too excited despite her obvious excitement.
"That is correct!" Sam smiled at her.
"Wow...that's amazing! You look just like a person! Technology in Botica must've really been something! I mean, I always knew that, but I didn't know it was this good! I'm so glad I met you!" Wendy grinned, forcing herself to stop gushing at Sam. "Hey, uh, maybe I could...come with you? I'm sure I could be of use somehow!"
"You would come with us?!" Sam looked ecstatic, putting her hands together. "Of course! That would be wonderful! I'm sure Casey and Philly will be excited too!"
"Great! I can't to meet them."
-------------------------
Philly cocked his head with a thoughtful noise as he saw Sam approaching. He was far more interested in the woman walking next to Sam, who was carrying a takeout box, though he only barely registered that detail. She was a looker. She wasn't even showing a lot of skin, but despite this...
"Philly! I want you to meet Wendy!" Sam said, smiling. "Wendy, this is Philly!"
"It's nice to meet you." Wendy replied.
"Wow Sam, you really brought me a meal this time." Philly said as he leered, doing a visible look over her body.
"Yes, Wendy helped me find a great meal-" Sam's reply was cut short.
Wendy marched up to Philly, a plastic smile plastered on her face. For a brief moment, he looked at her with confusion, until she slapped him across the face with the takeout container.
"OY! The FUCK is your problem!?!? And what the fuck is in there, a brick?!" Philly yelled, rubbing his hand against his cheek, glaring at Wendy. She crossed her arms and scowled at him.
"I am NOT for your consumption, asshole." She said bluntly, keeping her eyes focused on him. "It's steaks. One for you, and one for me, and some chips for Sam, since she said she liked them so much. From my money. I got it for you because Sam said you were a nice, wonderful, good person. But if you're gonna be like that maybe I'll just eat both the steaks myself."
"St...steak?!" Philly felt himself begin to drool at the thought. "Er, no, I mean, of course, I am all those things. I just, uh, misunderstood some things. Yeah. Now give me the steak." He held out his hands, smiling weakly.
Wendy rolled her eyes, holding the steak behind her back. "Apologize."
"Huh?"
"I said, apologize. Or I'm gonna eat both steaks." Wendy repeated dryly.
"Could you even really manage that?!"
"DON'T TRY ME, JERK!" Wendy brought the box back in front of her, making eye contact as she opened it and dramatically smelled the steak.
As the scent reached Philly's nose, he couldn't help but cave.
"Fine! Fine. I'm sorry I was rude." He clasped his hands together. "The food, please, I am begging you-"
"That was half hearted at best but fine." Wendy opened the box, tearing the top off to make a second plate. She pulled some metal silverware out of her pocket and divided the steaks, handing Philly his half as well as some silverware. "Enjoy, creep..."
"This is the best." Philly said, before digging in voraciously.
"Are you two friends now?" Sam asked, munching on a potato chip.
"...eh, I'm not sure about that." Wendy replied. Philly rolled his eyes, but made no reply, unwilling to stop shoveling steak into his mouth. "Anyway, you said there's another robot here, right?"
"Yes, Casey! Casey is also my good friend!" Sam looked around for a moment. "Philly, where's Casey?"
"How the fuck should I know?" Philly replied through a mouthful of food. "Maybe inside Bessie."
"Bessie?" Wendy questioned.
"Bessie!" Sam answered, gesturing at the large pink car.
"Woah." Wendy's eyes went wide. She hadn't really even noticed the car before, but now that she did...she wondered how she ever missed such a bright pink behemoth.
"Let's go look for Casey!" Sam started to climb up into the car, and Wendy followed quietly, seemingly still stunned.

The Stoic Prince (RK900!Prompt Request)
Tumblr media
TLDR: To you he’s a smug pain in the ass but you still fantasize about getting dirty with him at the DPD.
Word Count: 1,912
TW: Language, Suggestive Themes, Smut Fantasy
A/N: Follower/Reader Appreciation Drabble | Prompt: “Why the hell am I attracted to snarky stuck up dick faces?” - anon request! Thanks for participating nonnie! This went somewhere else. 1 in the queue done! Onto the next!
"Why do you even bother talking to it?"
Bitter taste of coffee barely touches tongue. Peering up at the question leaves a tiny smirk across lips, which did a hesitant skim of cup rim. Can the DPD honestly get a better brand to chug out of this dispenser?
“Excuse me?”
Purposely hedging away from your co-worker’s sudden interrogation hardly hides the clear tinge of artifice lacing words. Speaking any further may give away this ploy. Of course you know who they mean. He is the only smug jackass that does a heck of a job digging under skin.
Tall, imposing steel scoping a sea of puny humans to gnaw on, using his steadfast jaw, cut from stone if he were made of clay to be fitted by the gods themselves. Plastic, metal – raw material configured, manipulated into eye catching aesthetics.
Fabricated beauty and despite a brusque imperious affectation streaming out of those cool, pert lips. Often times you fantasize how human, warm they might taste. Not just against your mouth but gliding in a hungry appreciation upon every inch of skin made readily available.
To say you had the hots for Nines is an understatement. To say it can go anywhere is another quandary in your grand scheme of things. Natural enigmas be damned he is a walking puzzle waiting to be stripped of his authoritarian programming and cynical attitude.
Unfortunately those gods decided pompous and hypocrisy should be star qualities. Incessantly rolling eyes at your luck, leaning casually into table, coffee machine obscured by your current position, sank an invigorating quiet into your weary body for a brief moment.
Breaks are never long enough. At least there isn’t a sign of top human asshole of the Detroit Police. Rather not have to put a foot up his ass again. However, let’s get back to the inquiry at hand since it hasn’t left the break room.
“Daydreaming about it? Wow, Y/N.”
Sounds like some others you’ve known in the city. Detroit is just a heaping pile of garbage on a good day. Android fever is still in full swing and not how society originally saw it unfolding.  "Don't call him that." You defend him while not in his presence. Better to keep it that way because no way in hell are you admitting how fast you’d drop clothes and get down with the rigid android on the force.  "Just because he's an android, I mean." The female officer rolls eyes at you. "Uh huh. Sure. Next time you’ll tell me Reed’s going out for drinks with Anderson and Connor.”
Considering androids do not drink she’s a long way off course. You snort.
“Better luck with puppy eyed boy,” the officer jabs, smug. “He doesn’t look like he wants to eat people alive. Or maybe that RK900 just wants to eat you out.”
Nearly spitting coffee all over moves you in a quick step forward, grabbing a napkin out of dispenser to brush splotches of brown liquid off shirt. Eat you out?! Yeah, absolutely!
Perfervid antagonism blinds your gaze resting in a target over fellow officer all consuming in personal embarrassment. Truth is not far from luscious fantasies swirling in nightly subconscious. More than a few dreams about tangling body, flesh and humanity with synthetic, plastic and robotics transforms sleep. It is a burning secret.
A mystery garden planted between the cages absconding the heart ruminating for something of construct, designed in perfection but never mind false images. Never mind unnatural heavenly auras built around a shell of mechanized man. He is everything you can dream about but never will quite openly acknowledge.
One more step and – "Your heart rate is dangerously high for caffeine consumption."
The calculating voice of the RK900 hovers close, sinking in smooth and curt. A statement more so than concern but appropriately edged with his swift, sharp stride into break room.
Fusing a firm hand atop your shoulder seemingly resonates effectively. Analysis is punctual upon your figure as are the sweeping steel he possesses to invoke fear in opponents. He stares down suspects and useless colleagues alike. However there is a bit more skill in you out of most among these humans. He keeps silent, studying a wide appreciation in your eyes.
Pupil dilation is telling to an android who measures subtlety, language in the human form, moving under its own command. Rarely does he witness a shining example of what is referred to as a poker face in most offenders. Upon you it is quite - delicious.
The spike in vitals draws him. Nostrils flare in your personal radius sampling as a bloodhound on a ferocious hunt. Fluctuations respond exquisitely as you are equally confounding in his state of processing.
Do you honestly believe you will affect him in such a wasteful way without retaliation? The form in which he shadows your trembling inhibitions is opposite of what is desired in potential partners. This android does not care in the slightest for decorum.
He will pull you into his awaiting grasp, splaying atop his smooth marbled chest, wanton in prurience, undone from the molecules that form soft, fragile flesh. Tasting your essence will act as more than data on a long, skillful tongue. It will bury into the nerves breaking down your barriers in a flood of rapture.
All it takes is a deliberate push. Buttons unfastening with each poke he prods, bleeding into your skin and he does so intentionally to gain reaction. Steeping within your system liquefies him to the plasma running through veins.
Just as thirium runs a gamut of power to biocomponents he readily will be the life force keeping your mortal existence afloat. So it will be because he wills it out of a viral need you have unwittingly but most adoringly spread into his frame.
His lips twitch faint. A tiniest curve unseen by naked eye but he settles them to a hard line.
Your entire body shivers giving away how good he’s gotten you. Damn it. And he’s looking awfully smug about it all. Somehow he manages to keep his stoic façade nestling in his wide, masculine exterior; handsome is a mere flash in the pan for Nines.
He is beyond definition. You think he knows it too. Why else does he single you out? Making you literally sweat, taking great pleasure in how you behave and pretending nothing is happening.
What a complete and total jackass! Sometimes you swear he fakes this hard ass persona to look the part. Actually, no he’s built this way. Deviancy does nothing for him!
Collecting yourself is instinct and self preservation kicking in. Nobody in their life will get away with this but he melts your strong core down to a puddle. Limpid steel expunges self control. In front of him you strive to be alert so it's not obvious but there was more warmth underneath his imposing touch than you can stand.
God, he's too good. Flicking eyes down the length of his body drives a surge in your heart, thundering in desperation to current fantasy riding out awake.
Strewn atop table, legs around his waist; ripping open that damn white jacket, digging fingers against defined pecs visibly bursting at the seams through black material, fluffy camouflage to a toned body. Taking you right then and there, moaning his name, sinking fingers into exposed synthetic skin because you want to lay into him as heavily as he lays into you.
Biting of perfectly white teeth, licking languid, sensual from smooth tongue and pounding your body on hard surface, pain thumping against the plane of your back but you beg him for more.
Ravenous, unfiltered and insatiably poetic while he completely ravages whatever is left of you, nearly collapsing the chosen surface of your hungry carnality. Eye witnesses neither ceasing nor distracting from the obvious orgasm you will ride on high in the clouds of your mind.
Breath catches in a mystifying glaze sparkling up to his hard narrowed brow. A daylight delusion swept hold at the least private location for you to be horny.  For a minute you fear he knows what went on in your head. A predatory slit of Nines’ eyes tracks each minute expression, fidget you relay. He resembles an albino king cobra, flaring a shroud to engulf you in his beguiling shadow.
 Hammering against ribs betrays you to the point of imagining the entire precinct eavesdropping on the laborious thud. A small inhalation expands his chest one he hardly requires for oxygen but absorbs your arousal. Oh, it’s very obvious. You have a bit of a problem between your legs right now. Fuck.
"Peak performance suggests you not consume more than the recommended dose of caffeine, Detective.”
The android’s voice is deeper, darker than usual. Almost testing, watchful of how your body will respond next. Enough so that a smirk graces the mouth you wish to ascend in prayer to the immediate issue you physically suffer. He will cure such issue predominantly efficient. “Coffee will not help your productivity if you misuse it." Misuse it, huh? Oh, you’re sure nothing will be of misuse here. Preferably his tongue; you screw up your face to hide the lust.
Why the fuck is he looking like that? Does he realize people will start noticing? Honestly, it’s first time you realize it’s just the two of you in the break room. Guess he scared off your former gossip partner.  "Why do you care what I do anyway?” Seething at his game and the fact you’re turned on at work, you slam a finger into his chest. Stabbing him doesn’t move his perfect posture but it sure does make you ache more.  “It's not as if it's worth your time."
Nines’ head cocks to the side marginally amused by this insolence. He finds it cripplingly fascinating on a good day but why voice such trivialities?
“Perhaps if you behave in a professional capacity, Detective Y/L/N?” Leaning in to brush the words beside ear, purposely expelling artificial breath to lick your skin, the android fuses fingers against your hip.
A slow slide kisses beneath the android’s tempting fingertips allowing the hitch of your natural breath fuel his personal stimulus. Aroused by you will not go without discipline. There is only one kind he imagines to have utmost potency and satisfaction.
“Tell me, Y/N,” Nines switches to informalities, dangerously silken. “Do you wish every advanced piece of technology that wanders into the DPD to fuck you? Or is it because I am faster, stronger and more resilient to your needs?”
Gasping is the last vocalization you will give him. Pushing back from you reserves dignity even if you want him to just snag you hard by the hips and throw you down into the evidence room. Quieter, less traffic right now and it’d be a pretty good way to… He just called himself the best and believes it.
Well, it’s true right? No. Fuck his snide self!
You are trying but still…
“Why the hell am I attracted to snarky, stuck up dick faces?!”
Story of your goddamn life apparently and this one is the snarkiest, smuggest, sexy piece of android you’ve had the discomfort and pleasure to meet.
“Get over yourself, Nines!”
Yelling on the way out of the break room only causes looks and you’re sure without turning around he’s still standing there. Tall as hell and making you weak, oh so weak to his stormy sea and he’s already swallowed you up.
Wait until he devours you.

Connor x Depressed Reader x Depressed Hank || Please, Take Care
Connor x Depressed Reader x Depressed Hank
Warning: Cursing, self harm and a bit of my very own backstory. Cursing because once again, we have Hank. Self harm for the reason that I am actually a cutter at times. You'll get some back story as you read. Also slight Hank x Connor.
~~
I searched under the table pulling out an old box that held pictures of me and my family as Hank stood a couple feet away from me. Connor on the other hand had been looking around the house curious of the place I called home. I'm not gonna lie, it's messy. A large pile of clothes laid in the corner and the walls painted (f/d/c) which didn't give it much light. The tv had been broke for a while and the room could get hot some times. Sure they lived with me but that didn't mean I had to keep my room clean. Hank looked around the dining area with me poking his head around the corner and spotting the fridge.
"You got any alcohol?"
He questioned staring at the large running machine. I pull my hands away laying a gun on the table that had been in the box, pulling down the long sleeves of my sweater. They didn't know that I was a cutter but we'd keep that a secret for now, they didn't have to know. I stood and looked at the man and smiled.
"Yeah. What do you want?"
I hummed walking over, soft patters of bare feet hitting the cold floor as I opened the food holding machine. They say you shouldn't put your alcohol in the fridge but hey, I like it cold. I opened it up and stepped aside showing him the different beers, vodkas, whiskeys, margaritas, and wine and he blinked widely before coming over placing a large hand in my hair to ruffle it up.
"Wow girl, you sure this is your house? That's a lot of liquor."
It had been a while since they been here to spend the night with me. I give a soft laugh and pull out a glass bottle of wine and walking it over to the counter to pop it open and get the cork out. Connor didn't necessarily like us drinking, I could clearly see that but he's a robot. He wouldn't understand. I grew a bit sad at the thought but snapped out of it as Hank walked over with a bottle of vodka, a cup of ice, and some lemons.
I licked my lips thinking how the flavors would taste and I let him open it. I drunk almost every time when I got home and when they weren't there to watch me. I knew it would speed up the process, and that's what I was going for. I heard footsteps coming back from my room and Connor poked his head in mainly to see what we were doing but other than that to ask a question. I could see him frown at the alcohol but didn't say anything till he did, only lifted an eyebrow.
He blinked slowly closing his eyes for a second before opening them back. His bare feet stood on my carpet as he spoke.
"(Y/n)? Can I clean your room for you. I think you need it."
He stated and Hank gave a little laugh that came out a bit like a scoff. He pulled out glass cups from my cabinets and placed them on the counter before getting a sharp knife to cut the lemons. My eyes connected to the knife and I actually felt the skin of my wrist tingle in excitement. Hank cut through the fruits easily before answering Connor.
"Be careful, it's a girls room you never know what's in there."
He joked and lightly elbowed me snapping out of the dark thoughts that always seemed to plague my mind. I rolled my eyes at Hank before nodding to Connor. I paused when I noticed him looking questionly at my sleeves. I moved my arm and his eyes followed before he looked back to my eyes
"You can clean it. I don't mind."
I smiled not caring that the Android could notice the old tear streaks on my face. He said nothing as he nodded and disappeared from the doorway. I looked at Hank and he moved his hand telling me to pour some wine in the glasses so I did so. He nods and grabs the vodka pouring it in the cups also. I grabbed a lemon from in front of him and squeezed it in our cups.
He grabbed him and handed me mines hitting them together lightly making a clunking noise. He did a tired pitiful nod.
"Here's to passing out and forgetting the pain for the night."
He said softly before taking large gulps off the drink. I gave him a sad smile, I really wish I had gotten to meet his son. Maybe we could have been good friends. And my father, I missed him. I'll go out the same way he did.
Alcohol poisoning.
I pulled down the drink struggling a bit at the tingles I got. After we finished the glasses we looked at each other. It's just like every other time. I hadn't felt anything yet. He chuckled and grabbed the vodka pouring some more in our cups before drinking it up. I shrugged and drunk mines too. It wasn't till after we finished the wine and vodka did Connor come back holding two bags that at the time had my razors, bloody towels, and alcohol bottles in them. He had been too late to stop our drunken frenzy. Hank dug inside the fridge yanking out the margaritas cans with a loud slurred laugh.
"Holy shit! I feel like I could fucking fly right now!"
He laugh slumping onto the table pouring the can in his mouth missing at some points getting the drink in his beard. I laughed kicking at the air now on my second can of beer.
We hadn't even noticed Connor when he dropped the bags making the glass and metal inside either clank on the ground of break and shatter.
"Lieutenant! (Y/n)!"
We perked at our names somehow noticing them. I stood on shaky legs, placing my head on the counter and stopping Midway feeling something sharp under my finger tips. I roughly ran my finger down it feeling a small tingle and now wetness. I slid back down looking at my hand with a blurred and twisted vision. The blood ran roughly down my fingers and I blink realizing I had just cut myself a little. I slowly glanced back up seeing the blood dripping down in a small pool. I quickly shot up almost tipping over and grabbed the knife.
Connor in less than a second had my hand and roughly ended up slamming me down on the counter making me burp nearly throwing up and yelp. Hank looked over at us stumbling holding the gun in his hands. Connor frowned more as the man slapped his hand away when the Android reached for him and stop him.
"Don't f-fucking touch meh you fuckin Android!"
He yelled making Connor yell back for what I guess was to sound reach Hank's conscious.
"Lieutenant! Give it to me!"
The Android shouted making me groan loudly at the loud voice. I wanted to sink the knife in my skin already and him pressing between my thighs and pinning my hands down wasn't helping me. Hank grumbled out putting the gun to his chin as though he was think, finger on the trigger. Connor looked at me in what seemed as panic, before suddenly moving his body and kicking in the back of the older man's legs making him fall back and shot.
A loud echo surrounded the house and I looked up with blurry glassy eyes to see Hank didn't kill himself but passed out after Connor made him fall and hit his head on the table. The Android looked back at me and I couldn't understand my words or my actions. All I could tell was that my face was getting wet and my vision was getting darker.
Why is my face wet?
I jumped in shock as cold water sprayed all over my body shocking my system and sticking my clothes to me forcing me into waking up. Loud yelling came from beside me and I blinked with large (e/c) bewildered eyes to see Hank waving his arms around along with his legs.
"H-Hey! Turn it off! Turn it off!"
He repeatedly loudly as I couldn't stop how my eyes filled with tears. The water suddenly turned off and Hank laid back with me, our heads against the wall. I blinked and flinched when the bright light of my bathroom shined in my eyes. I blinked again seeing a shadow now. Soon I could focus and we looked up to Connor to find him frowning standing in from of us arms crossed.
I burped lightly sitting forward and placing my hands on the side of the tub to get out, feeling the vomit building up.
"C-Connor?"
"(Y/n)."
He said a bit harshly and I actually felt myself flinch at his tone. I knew he had feelings but I wasn't sure at the time why that one was pointed at me. Hank burped and pushed up making Connor look at him next. The older man sighed and placed his wet hands on his face.
"I know Connor.."
He said softly. I looked to the ground not wanting to make eye contact with the Android. We all lived together at times but it still hurt to see him angry with us.
"Can you get me some more clothes."
I asked and Connor nodded. Hank didn't have to ask. The younger male left and came back a bit later holding our clothes in his arms before sitting them down on the sink. Hank tried to sit up and slipped back a bit and Connor reach forward grabbing his hand an pulling him up. Doing me next. Immediately the older man found himself next to the toilet knowing how he'd have to throw up soon and Connor walked me over to the sink wrapping his arms around me to make sure I didn't fall back down. He made sure to placed the clothes now on the clean floor.
Eventually Hank started and with a loud gurgle he plunged his face into the hole off the toilet and barfed holding it. I started after doing it in the sink having the contents splash a bit. It felt his hands running through my hair and some more water against me. I stopped for a second catching Connor's broken words.
"Why?"
Hank coughed hoarsely looking up at us for a second as I lifted my head in the mirror to see the Android. I froze upon seeing heavy tears running down his face and his arms tightening around my waist making me cough.
"I said why!"
He yelled making me jump and Hank turn around some more. I could see him open his mouth to speak only to get caught off by the saddened robot.
"Why? Why do you both continue to hurt yourselves? Cutting, drinking, and suicide is not the answer!"
Suddenly the water from the shower that had fallen off my face had seem to return but filling out of my eyes this time. He knew and I knew he would, Connor wasn't a fucking idiot after all. I felt my breathe become uneven as the tears fell and he buried his face into my hair.
"You both know I'm a deviant! So how can I not care? I know about your son."
He looked sharply at Hank as the tears soaked his face.
"And I know about your father."
He spoke hugging you tightly. Hank stood and I could hear him walking over and I could see him wrap his arms around Connor joining our hug. His own tears falling down his face and he pet the android's hair.
"Don't leave me. I had no one before you two and if you both leave I'll have nothing after."
Connor spoke softly again you. I turned my body after he allowed me too and kissed his cheek wrapping my damp arms around around his neck. Hank tightened his grip and Connor didn't seem to mind as the man cried against his shoulder softly.
"I'm sorry Connor. I'm sorry for making you cry."
Hank sighed.
"We won't leave. We'll stay together forever."
Connor moved his head and placed a kiss on Hank's forehead before turning back to me and placing one on mine.
~
I sat cross legged as Connor sat in front of me holding my arms still so he could wrap up the many deep cuts. I sat patiently until he was done not wanting him to whine about how I messed him up. When he was finished he held my arm and pulled it kissing them. Hank found himself rolled up in the blankets with Sumo sleeping heavily by the bed. Connor smiled at the man before scooting over and grabbing his blanket burrito.
"What Connor?"
The man ground making me smile. We had already cleaned our mess so Hank wanted to sleep now. Connor interrupting him wasn't helping though.
Connor smiled slipping behind the man placing one of the many pillows in his lap and laying Hank back. The man seemed happy considering this didn't happen much due to Hank's attitude before he went to bed. Connor laid in the other pillows before placing one on his hip patting it telling me to come over. I did so and tugged on the blanket burrito managing for Hank to hand us a large one.
I put it over me and Connor and I couldn't help chuckle at how Hank grumbled. Soon we all decided to get some sleep holding the other protectively and tell each other how much we loved them.

I'm sorry I love you...
(angst but happy ending)
Days had turned into weeks. Weeks had turned into months. Months of Simon locking himself away and having unbearable coughing fits. Each cough bringing up a beautiful blue petal. Each of those petals making Simon hate his damned feelings more and more.
Now he was in his room, hunched over his waste bin, petals and thirium churning in his throat until it erupted from his mouth.
He shut his eyes to try and remember an inkling of what his old owner had said, “Simon, the Hanahaki disease is a dangerous thing. An unreturned love can metaphorically break a humans heart, but for you androids there is no heart to break, so there is a myth so much worse” she laughed with a sad emptiness, her brown hair falling perfectly on her similarly coloured eyes. “When someone feels heavy unrequited love, a flower will grow in their throat, until it grows so big they throw up petals, blood and they may even end up suffocating on the ever growing flower. I've always wondered if it was real Simon.”
Simon didn't think it was real, he thought it was ridiculous, another one of her outlandish myths. It's only a tale. He would still be happy to listen to her lies though, she loved telling stories and he loved listening.
He thought they were lies, until he felt the symptoms himself. The lumps in his throat, the strained, hitched breaths slowly choking him, the tears that ran down his face, mixing with the blue blood that was around his mouth. 'Is this what the Hanahaki disease tastes like' thought Simon as the bitter mixture grazed his tongue.
The thing was, Simon was going through hell. Not because of the growths in his throat that were desperately trying to escape his body, but because of the reason this was happening. The reason, that had he had to see every single day, the reason, that he needed to get away from but he wanted to stay close to. For rA9's sake, what was Markus doing to him?
Markus was killing him…
Taking away his breath away one petal at a time…
Simon had finally reached the end of his ferocious vomiting. He leant his head back and let some air into his metallic insides.
None of this was a problem earlier in his life. Yet, 5-6 months earlier, Kamski made it a necessity for androids to breathe. Just a simple update that most androids could do in their own homes and one that made Simon's life a living hell.
He made a horse cough and stood himself up. Thirium had trickled down his neck and stained his shirt. He threw on a new top and washed his pale face, before taking a deep breath and leaving the room.
___________________________________________
“Simon, you okay?” The angelic voice reached its way to Simon. He sighed, swallowing down the literal lump in his throat. He turned himself around to see Markus. And wow, was it a sight. The freckles that trailed across his face were like stars; beautiful brown constellations. His eyes were bright, like beacons that stared into Simon's soul.
Simon shook himself out of his thoughts. A small nod was visible but not incredibly believable, Markus noticed this. He tutted taking a seat beside the Simon.
"Simon, don't lie to me." Markus' voice was kind and understanding. But he didn't understand. He didn't know what Simon was going through, how much it hurt and how he was having to lie about it.
"I'm not." A pop up appeared in Simons field of vision. 'Get out of the situation'. rA9, he wanted to do that, but it was a suspicious move that he wasn't going to risk. He was smarter than that.
"I led a revolution, don't think I can't tell when my friend's lying to me." Markus placed his hand on Simons. The dark skin and brown table contrasted perfectly with the deathly pale of Simons hand. Simon stared at the two hands, how he would love to hold hands with Markus all the time.
Simon needed to leave. He felt his throat tighten, as his ever growing flower spewed flowing petals into his mouth. He needed to leave. His pop up turned red. It was now urgent. So he did the only thing he could do. Get up, storm out and go back to his bedroom, leaving Markus utterly baffled.
'What did I do wrong? I pushed it didn't I?' Markus thought to himself. He didn't want Simon to feel bad. Simon didn't deserve that, he deserved the world. He wanted Simon to be in a good mood, for rA9's sake he needed Simon to be a good mood! What would he do without his right hand man? Markus needed to go check on him.
____________________________________________
Simon heard a knock on the door. He curled up tighter on his bed. The waste bin right by his side. Thirium drooled down his cheek and stained the bedsheets.
Another knock. He wasn't going to answer it, he couldn't. His body was in a state of failure.
He heard one more knock, then the door slide open. He expected to hear the sound of Markus' slight lisp as he talked, but he didn't hear anything. There was only silence as Markus looked stunned. One of his closest friends was lying on their own bed in a pool of blood and flowers. Markus shuddered.
"Simon..." His voice was soft, almost scared, "Simon, what happened?"
Simon wasn't stressed. He excepted his fate. He let out the sigh, his breaths steady. His body let him move slightly enough to simulate blinking and enough to talk and breath.
Simon asked Markus to sit and began to explain the treacheries of the Hanahaki disease. About the symptoms, about the pains, about why it happens.
Markus asked a question that Simon knew was coming. It left his lips like a sour candy. Sharp but soft.
"Who do you love?"
Oh rA9, No. Please rA9, give him hope. But he had no answer. He had to confess. A pop up appeared, 'avoid question?'. But Simon dismissed it. He sat up and breathed heavily before giving the simple answer of, "You".
Markus stayed silent. His head buzzing with thoughts, 'Why does he like me? I took over his role. I put him in danger. He's too good for me anyway. What if I get him hurt. What if...'
His thoughts were cut of by Simons horse, tearful voice.
"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have said anything. I'm sorry I love you, I shouldn't. You're better then I am."
A flurry of words errutpted from Simon like the flowers had done before. Each word seemed to be an insult to himself. It seemed like it could have continued forever, but he didn't. He stopped in his tracks as he was pulled into a tight embrace. A teddy bear hug that he sobbed into.
"I'm sorry Simon," Markus said with a soft voice, "This shouldn't have happened to you."
Markus looked down at the blonde android and sighed dearly. He thought about what Simon had said. Simon loved him. He smiled, hugged Simon closer and whispered softly in his ear...
"I love you too."

Shades Of Thirum Part 2 (Rk900 x Male!Reader)
Ever since New Years, things have been normal. It was actually pretty boring, just making pastries, going out and other shit. You wanted to do some exciting things but as life was, very fucking boring. Hell, you kinda wanted to go back to the DPD just to see everyone and joke around and bug Gavin but, you knew you couldn’t distract him from work since it was important job. Life went on as usual, and you were closing up shop when someone knocked on your store door. “You still open?” You heard a voice say and you looked uo to see an android man standing there. “We are about to close but please look around.” You were kind as ever, the male approaching and looking at the pastries. “Wow...” He said and smiked as you smiled back and he stood in front of the cash register and looked at you.
“I’ll take all the money in the register please.”
“...huh?”
Before you knew it, there was a cold metal feeling on your forehead, body shaking as you could barely register what was happening. Your eyes were wide and looking scared, finally looking better at the android you saw his right eye was badly damaged and was black. Creepy. “P-please... I-I barely made anything today.” You spoke as you felt the pistol move harder against your head, your breathing increasing. “Hurry the fuck up before they get here.”
His voice was cold and demanding as your shook in place and then took a deep and kneeled down to get the lock box, but... you couldn’t. You immediately texted Gavin as you pretended to look for the key to the lock box.
‘Help please. Shop. Attack.’
That’s all you could type out within a few seconds and you hoped he understood. A few gun shots went off aimed at your ceiling. “Hurry up!” Well even if you didn’t text him, people would have called to notice the police. You stared at the angry man, as he shot off one that flew right past you, grazing your cheek. Blood dropped down your face as you stared horrified, before cop cars came around and ordered for the man to come out. He grabbed you buy the hair, making you scream, as he pulled the gun to your head and walked out slowly.
“Make any moves and he’s dead.”
The man held you firmly in his grasp as he soon pulled a blade on your neck, tears now streaming down your face. You looked around and found Gavin with his bullet proof vest on, along with Hank doing the same but... Nines and Connor where no where, no where to be- there. The building in front of you was being built so it was exposed a lot, and at the top was Nines and Connor, and Nines led was flashing red.
~~~~~~~~~
Nines POV
Janurary 9th, 4:09pm
Detective Reed and I were given a text from (y/n) with very few words but, it sounds like he’s in trouble. And I was right. When we arrived there I used thermal vision to see someone was aiming a gun at him, shots had been fired earlier seeing there was a bit of heat at the ceiling.
“Connor, with me.” I spoke, grabbing a sniper and a hand gun, making our way up to the top of the building being in the middle of being built. Easy. Really, just had to wait for the right time. But.... when the android brought (y/n), I could see he was bleeding, his breathing was rapid, heart rate was increasing more and shaking. But once that man pulled the knife out his head moved far enough away and I took my shot, exterminating the android on site, (y/n) pushed the robot arm off him and ran for the cops, going to Gavin and Hank, hugging them.
We made our way back down and I was also created with a hug, being held firmly in his grasp, and I... felt my thirum pump increase but as soon as that happened he let go and hugged Connor. “Thank you...” He said and sniffed, seeming to never be in a situation like this before. Interesting. We had to pull (y/n) into the station for some questions. Turns out the android was being followed, and needed money quick.
(Y/n) was now sitting by Gavin’s desk drinking some coffee, a bandaid on his face as he sighed. He seemed so much more melancholy then normal, but that was to be expected after being attacked. I walked up and sat next to him. “Statistics show that your life will be back to normals in less then a week and you will forget this even happened in about a month and-“ He cut me off.
“If you hadn’t shown up in that moment I’d be in a body bag.” He said and for some reason, my circuits started to act weird I felt... strange. Almost angry. No, no I do not feel. I may have blushed when he kissed me New Years but that was just for the tradition of what some people do. I do not need these feelings, I am cop, I am independent, I don’t need anyone.
“I’m sorry but I need to leave.” I spoke coldly to him as I stood up, walking away leaving the male go sit there alone. This felt wrong, this hurt but I had to push him as far away as I could because if I didn’t, I’d get attached.
Memory File: (Y/N) (Y/L/N), delete memory... deleting... deleted.
I looked over to see a new male at Gavins desk, he had a band aid on and a cup of coffee, and he looked so sad when we locked eyes.
Who is he?
Gravity Soul chapter 10: Weirdmageddon Take Two, Gravity Falls No Longer Safe? (originally posted on September 28, 2018)
AN: And so begins Weirdmageddon once more. Greetings loyal readers to the final arc of Gravity Soul. With Gravity Falls now no longer safe from the madness of Kishin Cipher, the Mystery Meisters now fresh off of rescuing Pacifica must find another place to hide from him and pull off one last plan to stop him. Also in this arc will feature the usage of the Vigenere cipher which means whatever word that is highlighted in bold in the author's notes will be the key needed to decipher it. But enough for now, let's all return to the BUNKER. TIZOXZNYF DLV EUEUIJU MRMVVUM JOVV UBBEKYU NB LI CPMG LYK GCANMEH NUOQ TPGRC EK B WBCX KIY XOIGFL AOZVS CADIEEYQ DLVN NB LI WPOAN FLU HBG MK'T NUO SKIYE GEP BLBERU
They thought it was impossible. They thought they would come out of that mansion with at least a few physical scars. But no. They received mental scars instead from what the fusion of the dream demon and the Kishin inflicted on them. The rescue party looked upward at Kishin Cipher cackling maniacally with his head tossed back and hands in the air. He had won and Weirdmageddon began anew. "W-we lost." Kid stuttered in sheer disbelief, at both the monster's victory and his previously unknown connection to Asura. "And did he just sing a big musical number about how everything has gone to hell now?" Black Star wondered. "I mean, it honestly was a catchy tune, but was it necessary?" Stanford and Maka on the other hand had their backs turned away from the others and mourned the sacrifices of the people they cared for the most. Ford had lost his brother, his best friend, the very person who had spent thirty years trying to rescue him and now in a cruel twist of irony, he was the one that needed saving now. Maka had lost her weapon, her partner, the boy who had put his life on the line for her own safety, and now he was gone. "Soul..." "Stanley..." It wasn't long before the two of them embraced while breaking down into tears as the others looked on. Dipper tipped his hat in silence & Mabel cried as well and Crona & Spirit, the only family Maka had left now, tried to comfort the girl. "So where do we go from here?" Wendy asked. "FOOLS!" Excalibur cried breaking the silence. "There's no use in staying here now that Kishin Cipher's reigning supreme, so I suggest we find somewhere to hide." he declared. "But where? Pretty sure we can't go back to the Mystery Shack right now." Soos answered before the Holy Sword cut him off. "FOOL! Isn't there some kind of secret hiding place in these woods?" "Oh that's right, there's Ford's secret bunker!" Wendy suddenly realized. "We just gotta find it, rest up in there for a while and then form a plan!" she stated. "Good plan there Wendy, but where is it?" Tsubaki wondered. "The entrance's disguised as a tree, so we just gotta keep knocking on wood until we hit metal." "Yeah, Wendy's right." Dipper agreed wiping the tears from his eyes. "If only we still had Journal 3 with us, then we'd navigate it easily." he added glumly. Suddenly they all heard a rumbling noise that quietly erupted through the forest before an entire stampede of cryptids from across Gravity Falls charged right through them. "Hey pigtails, move it!" one of the gnomes shouted. "We're fleeing here!" a unicorn snidely added. "Whoa, what are they all running for?" Patty wondered. "And was that a unicorn?!" "You should get going too little one, Weirdmageddon is back!" a large bear with multiple heads stated before staring off into the distance with fear. "My lord, they're coming!" Just then, a group of demonic looking bears bounced across the trees with their teeth bared and eyes full of primal hunger. "Oh no, they're bouncing here and there and everywhere!" Soos cried. "Mass chaos that's beyond compare!" "Well what're we waiting for, to the bunker!" Dipper exclaimed preparing to lead everyone out of the forest before turning back to find Melody, Ghost-Eyes and Pacifica's mother still standing there. "Wait, aren't you coming?" "Sorry Dipper, but I think this might be too dangerous for all of us." Melody said. "We'll all still be here when you get back, hopefully." "Be safe out there Gideon." Ghost-Eyes said to his fellow ex-inmate. "You too old friend." Gideon replied and they fistbumped. "Pacifica, I want you to know that no matter how you feel about your father and I, we'll be there cheering you on against that monster." Priscilla said hugging her daughter. "And remember to thank your friends for saving us as well." "I will mother." Pacifica replied before they broke. "I promise I'll come back for you." Soos promised Melody. "I know you will dude." his fiancee replied and then they kissed. "All right, let's get moving everyone." Maka commanded and thus the remaining Mystery Meisters set off for the bunker.
"Anything yet guys?" Mabel asked as Black Star kept knocking on the trees hoping that one would lead them to the bunker. "Seems like we've been walking and hiding forever." "Nothing Mabel, we're getting in a rut." the ninja replied before they hid behind one of the trees away from the gaze of an Eyebat. "We need to be very very quiet everyone. Kishin Cipher's forces could strike at any minute." Ford stated quietly and they continued on their way. As the party snuck around the forest, they found numerous monsters unknowingly on their tail, such as a large humanoid vulture creature that made a strange whimpering sound, a strange dark blue android with a green symbol on its chest & red fins sticking out the back of its head, a bipedal jackal wearing a silver mask, a muscular humanoid beast with flaming facial hair & a burn scar over his left eye and many more, all looking to kill on sight. "Yeesh, these are nothing like what we've faced before." Dipper commented examining all the new beasts that had been unleashed when suddenly, he laid eyes upon a strange being whose body seemed to be made of various pipes. "And what even is that thing?" The boy felt himself edging into insanity little by little before he quickly covered his eyes in fright. "Hey guys, I think we found it!" Liz called pounding on a strangely metallic tree. "This seems like a good place to hide." "This is the exact place where I found Journal 3." Dipper stated. "I was only told to put up signs for Stan one day and then there it was. Where it all began." he explained. "We can recap last summer later, let's open this baby and get inside!" Wendy exclaimed preparing to scale it with her axe. "Wait, you're going to do it like that?" Black Star wondered. "Of course dude, it's how we opened it in the first place." the cashier said. "There's this little branch that's hiding a lever all the way up there." "Well there's no need for climbing, let a ninja handle this!" Black Star boasted using his ninjitsu skills to race up the tree and jump, grabbing onto the aforementioned branch and pulling it, causing the grass surrounding it to collapse into a spiral staircase leading to the entrance. "Boo-yah!" "Well hornswaggle mah goat-knees, just like old times!" Fiddleford exclaimed doing a quick victory jig. "Now come on sprouts, I can show y'all around!" With that, the hillbilly forgone taking the stairs and jumped down the entrance to the door. "Now come by, it brings back memories!" "Just as long as there's no dust to make me asymmetrical." Kid flatly stated walking down the stairs with the Thompsons behind him and soon, everyone else all except for Ford who was looking off into the distance with a solemn frown. "C'mon Mr. Pines, Kishin Cipher's minions could be coming any minute!" Eruka called for him. "Oh, terribly sorry everyone!" Ford stuttered trying to hide his emotional pain as booming footsteps sounded from afar. Luckily they were all able to get in and close the entrance behind him before one of Bill's henchmaniacs did indeed come across the bunker. "Uh boss, those mortals are gone!" the beast announced scratching his head with one of his eight-ball eyes becoming crooked. "Oh hush up 8-Ball, we can find them later!" Kishin Cipher said floating down to meet his minion's gaze as the other monsters roaming the forest gathered around their new master. "We'll focus on terrorizing all those stupid humans for now, but the reason why I broke you all out of the Nightmare Realm," the fusion stated before he stabbed a finger into his temple and rapidly drilled into it. "IS REVENGE!" The abominations cheered and chanted Kishin Cipher's name as one of the new monsters stepped forth. "Oh yes master, we are forever at your command!" the female beast cried bowing before him. "My pelt is now your pelt!" "Aw shucks Kaguya, you're just too kind!" Kishin Cipher complimented stroking her head and making her purr. "But my lord, what about those children?" a sharply-dressed humanoid being with a deformed face wondered. "Oh don't worry White Rabbit, I already got a few guys after them." Cipher answered before he projected an image of a snake, a spider and a scorpion crawling around.
Stepping further into the bunker, the Mystery Meisters finally came across the shelter which contained various weapons, food supplies and a small bed. "Wow, did you build this for some kinda apocalypse? If so, then I should've really brought a fire-shooting guitar along!" Patty exclaimed amazed at the room but Kid on the other hand wasn't as happy. "Did you even take symmetry into account Stanford?! Everything here is horribly unorganized!" he screamed trying to clean everything up. "Just messy, messy, messy!" "Looks like we're gonna be here a while. Who's up for some High-Flying Beans?!" McGucket asked rifling through their rations before he came across a familiar candy. "Hey waitaminute, is this my Smez dispenser? So that's where it went!" "Fiddleford's right, we might be in here for quite a long time, which is why I've gathered rations to last us until 2070." Ford explained. "In case any of us go hungry after like twenty years tops, we might have to resort to cannibalism." he remarked. "Wait, so we're gonna stay down here while all those monsters run amok?" Dipper asked. "We haven't lost yet Ford, we just need to think of a-" "WE HAVE LOST, WE LOST EVERYTHING!" the surviving great uncle suddenly exploded spooking his young partner and realized just what he had done. "Oh my goodness, I am terribly sorry Dipper! I didn't mean to blow up in your face!" "It's okay Ford, I know where you're coming from. It's horrible we lost Stan, but that's not important right now." Dipper reassured the older man. "Right now, we just gotta find a way to stop Kishin Cipher." "Thank you for that kid, but I think I should just sit down for a while." Ford stated taking a seat on the bed. "I still can't believe it, Bill took my brother after he spent years trying to bring me back." he mumbled. "Somehow I feel that is just cruelly ironic." "You talking about your brother?" Maka asked sitting down next to him. "I feel you Mr. Pines. In fact, I lost my weapon & best friend at the same time yet I'm not randomly screaming in everyone's face." she said. "I know Maka, but I've known Bill far longer than any of you." Ford said starting to choke up before crying. "In fact, I thought he was my friend." "Wait, what?!" Black Star shouted dropping a crate he was moving onto Spirit's foot. "You and Bill were actually bros once?!" he asked. "How long ago was it? Please elaborate." Stein said taking a puff of his cigarette. "It was when I was much younger, around Spirit's age, when I first met Bill." Ford stated beginning to reminisce on less traumatizing times.
"It was when I hit a roadblock in my research of Gravity Falls, and I thought there was nothing else left to discover until I met him in my dreams." Ford narrated picturing his younger self resting under a tree in the forest before the greenery turned into something bizarre. Examining his new surroundings, Ford then came face to face with a peculiar triangular creature who greeted him in a polite yet screechy tone. "Hiya smart guy!" the shape said, his voice echoing throughout the strange realm. "Whoa, don't have a heart attack! You're not 92 yet!" "Who are you?" the young scientist asked. "Name's Bill, and you're Stanford Pines, the man who changed the world! But I'm getting ahead of myself, let's relax." the creature, now named Bill, stated making a teapot and a chessboard appear out of thin air. "Have a cup of tea!" "He claimed to be a muse that chose one brilliant mind once a century to inspire. But of course it was all a lie." Ford continued in the present day. "I allowed him to take control of my body whenever he pleased. I trusted him like a research partner until I got a glimpse of Bill's true plans." Much later on, Ford and Fiddleford stood in front of the universe portal that they unknowingly helped Bill Cipher construct with a crash dummy for testing. "Are we clear Fidds?" the younger Pines asked his lab partner, who was unaware his foot got tangled with the rope tying the dummy down. "I'll take that as a yes! Ready and..." Suddenly Fiddleford felt himself sucked in along with the dummy when they released it, only saved by Ford at the last moment before the portal would swallow him whole. "I got ya buddy!" Ford shouted tugging the rope and pulling his partner back to the ground. "What is it? Is it working, what did you see?!" The only words that came out McGucket's mouth was complete gibberish before he rose from the ground, his eyes widened in horror. "When gravity falls and earth become sky, fear the beast with just one eye!" he chanted to Ford's confusion. "Fiddleford, get a hold of yourself! You're not making any sense!" Stanford cried trying to put a comforting hand on his friend's shoulder before he jerked away. "This machine is dangerous! You'll bring about the end of the world with this!" a now paranoid Fiddleford screamed. "Destroy it before it destroys us all!" "I can't destroy this, it's my life's work!" Ford tried to argue but his words fell on deaf ears as his partner stormed away. "I fear we've unleashed a great danger on the world, one that I'd just as soon forget. I quit!"
"I never learned just what he saw on the other side, but speaking in present tense I can only assume it was one of Bill's hangouts." Ford concluded his story. "Well is there anything in this bunker that can help us?" Tsubaki wondered. "Maybe if we can go deeper we'll get some answers!" Free replied tearing off a porthole that led to another room, this one consisting of various metal cubes lining every last corner. Going through the porthole, the room seemed almost normal except for a particular design on one of the tiles. "This security room is designed to crush intruders who don't have a code to reverse it. Now be sure to not step on that tile." Ford explained before he pointed to that specific tile. "That is the tile that could seal your dooms if someone presses it. Got it memorized?" "You got it." Free stated before he tried to step on the tile. "Ooh, what's this button do?" he asked and Soos grabbed him by the arm, keeping him away from the tile. "Sorry dude, you don't wanna press that. Might kill us all." Progressing further, they discovered a surveillance room connected to what seemed to be a laboratory given the presence of various cryogenic tubes, one of which was heavily damaged. "Seriously, how the hell did you build all of this without anyone noticing? And where did you get all the supplies too?" Black Star wondered before noticing something odd on one of the screens. "Hey, get outta there spider!" he said trying to squish it and realizing that it wasn't resting on the screen, but inside the lab itself. "Uh, Ford!" "Something the matter Black Star?" Ford asked the ninja. "You ever got any giant spiders in here? Cause I've already found one." he pointed out, much to the scientist's shock. "My word, how did that thing follow us in here?!" Ford cried racing to grab a rifle. "That thing could be one of Kishin Cipher's monsters, so I'm gonna need some help!" "You can count on me Sixer! Like I said before, just like old times!" McGucket declared arming himself with his sonic banjo. "We're with you as well Stanford." Stein added already commanding Spirit to transform into his scythe mode. "Okay then, let's move out!" Ford declared before Crona stopped him. "Wait, what about us Grunkle Ford?" "The rest of you stay in here and keep watch while we're gone! If anything happens, be on your guard." Ford stated before he, McGucket, Spirit and Stein departed the observation room to hunt down the spider, leaving the kids, Soos, Wendy, Blair, Excalibur, Free, Eruka and the Mizunes behind. "So what do we do now? The grownups all leave to kill spiders and we're stuck here doing nothing." Patty wondered unknowingly leaning on a red button on the console, causing one of the tubes to deactivate. This tube in particular contained what looked like a frozen Dipper screaming in terror that was ready to melt. The real Dipper gasped in horror, realizing just what this other him was. "Patty, what did you do?!" "What did I do?!" the Thompson asked. "You just released an evil experiment that tried to kill us when we first came here dude!" Wendy answered. "You sure about that guys? Looks like a frozen Dipper to me." Liz commented. "Exactly, that thing's a dangerous shapeshifter!" "Well what are we waiting for, let's go kill it!" Black Star shouted picking up Tsubaki and charging through the door that led to the lab, pretty much knocking it down. The rest of the party followed him behind ready to take on the beast.
Meanwhile with Ford's group, he, Fiddleford, Spirit and Stein crept through a long & winding tunnel system in search of the spider. "I don't think I remember ever digging such an elaborate passageway in here." Ford commented. "Did you Fidds?" "Nope, not the slightest clue!" McGucket replied before he dropped down and sniffed the ground to track its scent. "Think it went thataway!" he shouted pointing in the next direction like a dog. "Good work McGucket, though I'm not sure if that was really necessary." Stein stated and they moved onward. Going deeper through the caves, the four finally found the spider in a large open space that made it ripe for the squishing. "Okay everyone, be silent. I've only got one shot at this." Ford whispered aiming his rifle at the giant spider. "Ready, aim..." Just then, a snake loudly hissed breaking his concentration and firing, sending the bullet flying across the area. "What was that?!" "I think that was a snake!" Stein exclaimed. "Wait a minute. Spider, snake." he muttered then coming to a startling conclusion. "Oh no!" "Something the matter Frank?" Fiddleford asked before his mouth was hastily shut by the Meister. "Don't make a sound, they might hear us!" he cautioned them. "And yet you're making a sound right now!" Ford replied. "Kinda hypocritical much?" "Touche." Stein responded and just then, they heard a woman say "Vector Plate.", spawning an arrow under them & sending them flying toward the snake & spider. "Is this the scientist you told me about dear sister? I never seen someone with six fingers before." the gargantuan arachnid remarked before it transformed into a beautiful pale-skinned woman wearing a long black sleeveless dress. Spirit & Stein knew exactly who this was. "Arachne?!" "That's Arachne? And they're sisters apparently." Ford commented getting up and dusting himself off. "I don't see that much of a family resemblance." "Hello again Meister scum. And I see you've brought some new blood for us." Arachne greeted Stein. "It certainly has been a while Stein, pity that you abandoned me when you fell to madness." Medusa added. "Listen to me Stein, don't fall for her games!" Ford cautioned the Meister. "From the looks of it, she could trick anyone and then backstab-" It was then Ford came to a startling realization. A genius scientist that became close with a manipulative creature colored in black & yellow that was slowly toying with him. Why did that seem so familiar? It was almost like reliving the time he spent working with Bill, believing him to be a kindred spirit. "Weren't you all supposed to be dead?" Spirit asked. "I was until my sister requested that our new master bring us back to life." the elder Gorgon sibling answered. "Wait, what do you mean 'us'?" Ford wondered fearing if she was talking about someone else. His suspicions were confirmed to be true as another witch, this one looking much younger than the other two with a bizarre covering on her head that resembled a scorpion's tail at the end. "Meet our youngest sister, Shaula." "Wait, there's three of them?!" Ford exclaimed turning to Stein and pointing an accusing finger at him. "You only ever mentioned the two!" he shouted. "Well to be fair, how she was defeated was pretty embarrassing." Stein tried to defend himself. "I mean, she was killed by students of the NOT class!" "Silence!" Shaula boomed glaring at the pair of geniuses. "Kishin Cipher has resurrected all three of us to be his loyal servants and our mission right now is to kill all of you & those brats as well." she declared. "And as for my humiliation, he made sure it won't happen again and made me stronger." "Heads up y'all, looks like we're in for a rumble!" Fiddleford exclaimed picking up his sonic banjo as the others took up arms against the Gorgon sisters.
Back in the lab, the remaining Mystery Meisters were now face to face with a currently defrosted cryogenic tube and out of it, came an exact double of Dipper looking furious. "You!" it shouted in a deep voice pointing at Dipper, Mabel, Wendy & Soos. "You forced me into that contraption and left me to perish!" As it spoke, the Dipper clone transformed into a white-skinned insectlike creature with misshapen arms, one more slender with three fingers & the other swollen with a claw. "And I see you brought some fresh new faces for me as well." "That's what that shapeshifter looks like? I would comment on how horribly asymmetrical it is, but I'm too horrified beyond words!" Kid squeaked fearfully as the Shapeshifter took on the form of Maka. "Now then, which one shall it be?" it wondered emphasizing each word by transforming into Crona, Black Star, Tsubaki, Kid, Liz & Patty in that order. "Why not everyone?" it emphasized some more by turning into Eruka, Free and Mizune before its form changed into a terrifying amalgam of everybody he previously transformed into making them scream loudly in terror. "KILL IT WITH FIRE!" Pacifica hollered grabbing Liz, turning her into her weapon form and fired repeatedly, but the creature dodged the bullets by zooming off. "Where'd it go?" the formerly rich girl panted dropping Liz to the ground. "More importantly, where did you learn to fire like that?" the cowgirl weapon asked. "Got it from all my experience playing Bloodcraft: Overdeath." Pacifica answered boastfully. "PLATINUMPAZ level 100 to be precise." "You're PLATINUMPAZ? That's why I always get creamed whenever I face you!" Black Star exclaimed. "We can talk about video games later dudes, anyone know where that shifter guy went?" Soos inquired. "And more importantly, did I always have two big sisters?" Patty added remarking upon the sudden appearance of another Liz. "That is utterly preposterous Patty, our Liz isn't nearly as busty!" Kid stated clutching both of their assets. "As we should know, you aren't very symmetrical! Especially your chests!" This observation earned him a good smack on the head from Liz. "Well this is something only the real Liz would do!" "Wait, if that's the real Liz, then who's-" Tsubaki asked before she came to a shocking conclusion. "Oh no." she muttered frighteningly as the second Liz laughed before it transformed back into the Shapeshifter. "You discovered me far too easily!" it said. "But enough about you, I think it's about time I get revenge on you Dipper!" "Get back everyone, I'm going in alone!" Dipper ordered bravely picking up Excalibur. "Are you crazy Dipper?! Let me come too!" Wendy exclaimed pulling out her axe. "And us too, since we're going for a whole sharp weapons thing here!" Ragnarok added forming into Crona's sword. "Ah, we engage in a swords and sorcery type battle, I see. In that case!" The shapeshifter then formed a pair of its own swords out of its arms. "So be it!" "Okay change of plans. Me, Wendy and Crona will take on the shapeshifter while the rest of you take cover!" Dipper explained. "You got it broseph!" The others raced back into the adjacent room as Dipper made the first move, clashing Excalibur with the Shapeshifter's makeshift sword while Wendy scarred its other arm and Crona stabbing it in the back.
"I'm like really sorry for letting this happen guys." Patty hurriedly apologized dropping to her knees. "If there's anything I can do to make it up to you, just say the word!" "Hey chill out sis, it was just a button." Liz assured her younger sister. "And besides, it's not like you gave away something that could end the universe as we know it." Her comment accidentally sent shivers down Mabel's spine as she turned away nervously stroking her hair. She knew she couldn't keep mum about a certain event last summer no longer, but feared that if she spoke up about it right now it would result in being ostracized from her family. "Uh, are you okay Mabel?" Maka asked her. "What, no! I'm fine, perfectly fine!" Mabel exclaimed shyly, still not wanting to give away that secret she was keeping for months. "You know what would be great dudes? If we had some popcorn with us, cause this fight is heating up!" Soos exclaimed bringing attention to the fight going on next door. "Kinda like a fighting game!" "Yeah, get 'em Crona!" Black Star cheered the son of Medusa on. "Yeah, give that thing what for DP!" Pacifica added. "You can do it Wendy!" Soos exclaimed waving his arms around. "C'mon guys, do the wave with me!" Everybody complied doing the wave, all except for Mabel who remained silent in the corner and Eruka, Free & the Mizunes who had transformed into their animal forms and snuck away.
The four-way battle raged on with Dipper now getting a better grip on the sheer awesome power of Excalibur as he clashed with the Shapeshifter. "Look man, we don't want any more trouble then we've already caused, we just want to find shelter in here away from the flipping apocalypse!" "You have denied my freedom to roam the outside world and seek revenge, and now I shall deny you and your comrades the freedom of life!" the Shapeshifter roared before it suddenly heard a croak coming from the dark corner. It then immediately snatched Eruka from her hiding place and held her hostage. "Surrender now or this little toad gets it!" "Hey, let my little buddy go ya stupid Xenomorph!" Free shouted tackling the experiment from behind. "Think you can copy a werewolf like me big boy?! I'd like to see you try!" he challenged only to be smacked aside. "You are insignificant to me now. Leave or face death." "Well we're outta here! Dipper, we're gonna go look for Mr. Ford." Eruka explained hopping away to find the author. "And if you don't make it out, we'll tell him you're sorry." With the traitorous minions of Medusa now gone, the battle restarted with the Shapeshifter now preparing to attack Crona, but Wendy was quick to put herself in its path and slash the monster's mouth off, causing green blood to spew everywhere. "Always wanted to do that." "All right, go Wendy!" Ragnarok exclaimed. "Makes me wonder how that old man is doing."
Speaking of Ford, he was currently backed into a corner by Arachne, his rifle now out of ammo. "Seriously, what even kills you?!" he screamed deciding to just beat her over the head with the empty weapon itself. "I would say, but it would be foolish of me to do so." the spider witch snidely answered slashing him across the face with her fan. "AGH!" "Stanford!" Stein cried out temporarily distracted from Medusa, which led her to stab him from behind with an arrow. "Why continue to show concern for these fools when you can return to my side Stein?" she asked the bleeding genius picking him up by the shirt collar with a seductive, manipulative smirk on her face. "You are the most powerful Meister there ever was, and yet you continue to serve as Death's flunky." "Well at least I actually care for people. The only person you ever show concern for is yourself, everybody else you just lie to and use for your own gain." Stein wheezily remarked with a bold expression. "I know someone who has been through almost the exact same situation and I refuse to go through this again! Let's go Spirit!" "Right old chum!" Spirit replied being picked up by his Meister and activated their Soul Resonance. This caused stitches to appear at the three sisters' feet and tying them down to the ground. "Whoa nelly, they're knitted at the soles!" McGucket shouted enamored at the duo's techniques, using it as an opportunity to smack Shaula in the face with his banjo. "Quit hitting me you oafish hillbilly!" "Get down Fiddleford, I'm coming in for the kill!" Stein exclaimed preparing to land the final blow on the sisters before he felt something soft and squishy be stabbed on his scythe. "Uh oh." The object exploded revealing it to be one of Eruka's tadpole bombs and blowing him back, much to the frog witch's embarrassment. "Oh my God, I'm terribly sorry sir! I didn't notice you were already attacking, I just believed you needed help! Oh please forgive me!" "What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be with the kids?" Stein asked them. "We thought you needed help against that giant spider but it turned out she's the sister of our ex-boss!" Free stated laughing nervously. "And speaking of the kids, your great-nephew is kicking the ass of some weird alien thing alongside the redhead and Crona." "Weird alien thing?" McGucket wondered. "Hey, I think he's talkin' 'bout Shifty!" he realized with a snap of his fingers before becoming scared. "Oh no, I think he's talkin' 'bout Shifty!" "Wait, that's what you called that monster? It transformed into all of us when we accidentally unfroze it and is now after Dipper, Crona & Wendy!" Eruka exclaimed. "I can explain later. Now let's move!" Ford commanded preparing to race back to the lab before he felt his feet slip off the ground. "Oh right, almost forgot about her." "We don't have time for you anymore Pines, but we'll keep on watching." Medusa threatened and the trio faded into the shadows cackling, their eyes being the only thing visible before finally vanished. "Well that was...ominous." Spirit remarked. "Now then, you were saying?" "Right, let's get outta here!" Ford stated racing out of the cave and the others followed.
"Any final requests brat?" the Shapeshifter snarled despite it having lost its mouth, now pinning Dipper against the wall as the boy tried to attack with Excalibur. "You can't stop me! I have the single most powerful weapon in the world!" Dipper declared holding the sword in the air before it was snatched out of its hands. "No!" "The most powerful weapon in the world? Doesn't seem to look like much." the experiment commented examining Excalibur before the Holy Sword spoke up. "FOOL! I'd think twice before insulting the legendary weapon of King Arthur himself!" he declared to the monster's shock. "It can talk?!" "Yes indeed. Allow me to introduce myself. I am the Holy Sword known as Excalibur, sought after by Meisters far and wide to gain my ultimate power." Excalibur rambled. During his long-winded speech, not even the Shapeshifter was safe from making the Excalibur face, despite again losing its mouth. "Is he seriously this obnoxious?" "You have no idea." Dipper replied. "Now's our chance!" he exclaimed, giving Wendy & Crona an opening to strike the beast down, making him drop the young detective and the sword. "Are you ready Excalibur?!" he asked. "As a matter of fact, allow me to take this one boy." Excalibur said turning into his weapon form and hovering high in the air. "Holy Explosion!" he shouted zooming towards the Shapeshifter and stabbing him in the remains of its head and emitted a powerful explosion, finally killing it for good. When the dust cleared, all the three of them could see was Excalibur silently dusting himself off next to the green blood-covered remains of the Shapeshifter. "Where did that explosion come from?!" the voice of Free exclaimed running closer to the lab. "It came from here! Hopefully the kids are okay!" Ford replied finally entering the battle-damaged laboratory where they found Dipper panting and the Shapeshifter's corpse rotting. "Shifty..." "I am so sorry I had to do this Ford. But he tried to kill us once and we couldn't let him do it again." Dipper apologized putting a comforting hand on his great uncle, now mourning the death of the creature. "I accept your apology Dipper, but I feel like this is partially my fault as well." Ford stated remorsefully. "When Fiddleford and I raised it, it slowly became dangerous for some reason which led me to try and imprison it." "And we all know how badly that failed!" McGucket exclaimed killing the dour mood. "Oop, sorry. Carry on y'all." he then quickly apologized. "Now where the others at?" "That was totally wicked!" Black Star screamed in excitement as the aforementioned rest of the party burst out from the security room to congratulate Dipper, Crona & Wendy. "I mean, the way you weaponized Excalibur's annoyingness to kill him off was alphanumeric!" he shouted. "Try and guess which word I made up?" "We can all talk later. What happened to Mabel?" Dipper asked. "She's still with us, but she's been rather quiet for some reason lately." Kid stated. "No matter, now we have to contact my father! Maka?" "Right Kid." Maka obeyed stepping up to the cryogenic tube, fogging up the glass and writing the number needed to contact Death. "42-42-564, whenever you want to knock on Death's door." the girl Meister chanted causing the glass to turn into an image of Lord Death. "Oh hello there everyone! I see you've got Pacifica back, good show!" the Shinigami applauded the Mystery Meisters before he realized something was wrong. "Hey, what smells like dead alien body? And where are Soul & Stanley?" The party was silent for a few moments before Dipper put his hat over his chest. "They're gone." he revealed. "They gave themselves up to Kishin Cipher to save us and got turned into monsters like what happened with Pacifica's dad." "And then the guy unleashed all sorts of fresh hell all across Gravity Falls, complete with his own big showtune!" Patty shouted, much to Death's horror. "No, it can't be!" he gasped. "In Layman's terms Mr. Death, we're gonna need somewhere to hide until we're ready cause Gravity Falls is definitely no longer safe!" Soos said. "You got any place for us to stay sir?" "Oh yes, you can room with my students in Death City and train to stop Kishin Cipher." Lord Death suggested. "Thank you old friend, but first I would like to have a word with my new Meister." Excalibur said. "Mason Pines, please step forward." "Wait-what-how did you know my real name?!" Dipper exclaimed in confusion before the sword cut him off. "FOOL! I shall answer later, now take a knee my boy." he commanded, making the young man think he was being knighted. "His real name is Mason?" Pacifica tittered, causing Excalibur to silence them as well. "And you shall stay quiet as well!" "Yes sir." the rest of the Mystery Meisters complied bowing before the boy and the sword. "Mason Pines, for your sudden expertise in mastering the art of the sword, learning how to properly resonate with me and using my abilities to stop a great evil. I hereby anoint you as my newest Meister." he announced knighting Dipper with his cane. "May I wish good fortune upon you my friend." "Aw look, you made a new friend Excalibur!" Death exclaimed cheerfully before he began musing on how to move everyone to the Academy. "Now how can I create a way outta there?" he pondered before Eruka spoke up. "I believe Free and I can help out." "Oh, a witch helping us out? The last time that ever happened, we were quickly betrayed." Stein commented as the witch and the wolfman began combining their magic to create a gateway to Death City. With various mathematics symbols beginning to circle around a green entryway, the entrance began giving off a heavenly glow that left the duo exhausted. "Now before anyone says we pulled it out our butts, it's partially true." Free panted giving a thumbs up. "Spatial Magic and Magic Calculation, an unstoppable team." Eruka wheezed in reply. "Excellent, thank you for your assistance. Now come along, to Death City we go!" Ford exclaimed charging into the portal before Stein, McGucket, Spirit, Gideon, Black Star, Tsubaki, Blair, Waddles and Pacifica ran in after him. When almost everyone had exited the bunker into the portal, Dipper, Mabel, Maka and Crona were the only ones left to find that the witch's former cronies were being put back up on their feet by the Mizunes. "Aren't you coming with us too?" Mabel asked Eruka. "I would like to Mabel, anything to get away from this hellhole, but your town is in trouble and without you around, we might as well stay behind." Eruka answered reassuringly hugging the human girl. "And I just want to say, thank you both for helping us." "Yeah, we're gonna miss you little rascals!" Free exclaimed nearly crushing Dipper in a bear hug. "Gonna miss you guys too, now please stop crushing me!" Dipper groaned before being dropped to the ground. "And thank you for helping us get home." Maka stated gratefully. "Now good luck on protecting Gravity Falls while we're gone." "Uh guys, I think the portal might close any minute now!" Crona warned his friends as the gateway to Death City began to slightly fizzle out. "Oh right! Thanks for reminding us Crona." Dipper exclaimed before he ran into the light followed by his sister and Maka. "We'll see you guys later!" The last one to step into the portal was Crona, but only after he gave Free & Eruka one last hug. "I hope you'll all be okay when we get back." the Demon Swordsman whimpered. "Don't sweat it squirt, we got the skills to survive." Free assured Crona pushing him into the light. "Now go on, be with your friends." Crona put on a final smile before he faded into the light and the portal finally gave out, leaving the room almost deserted. "Well then, let's get crackin'!" the wolfman declared preparing to move out. "C'mon you three-eyed bastard, Papa Free's ready to get the belt out!" The Mizunes chittered in agreement scurrying behind and Eruka, turning back to examine the room hoping that her new friends safely escaped to Death City, being the last to leave, the only current occupant of the room being the decomposing corpse of the Shapeshifter.
Mere hours after the bunker was left completely empty, Kishin Cipher suddenly appeared and forced the Gorgons to kneel before him. "So, let's set a few things straight." he said in a polite yet livid tone. "I assigned you all to follow the Pines and those moronic Meisters into the bunker to kill them all." As Kishin Cipher continued, his voice grew deeper and his body turned a haunting crimson signaling that he was furious. "AND YET YOU ALL FAILED TO DO THAT TO EITHER OF THEM! HOW COULD THIS HAPPEN YOU IDIOTS?!" "Please forgive us master, Screw was about to kill us when one of my former minions intervened and still they won over us!" Medusa begged for mercy. "Which one, the brain-dead mutt, the whiny frog or those pesky little mice?" Kishin Cipher sarcastically asked returning to normal. "And speaking of which, you might as well found me a new one!" Kishin Cipher then hovered over to the remains of the Shapeshifter and brought him back to life, albeit still with his mouth & an arm missing and various scars. "Good old Shifty! I've read a lot about you in Fordsy's journals, but I never thought we'd meet in person one day!" "Bill Cipher I presume?" the newly revived experiment asked. "Close but no cigar Stitch! Call me Kishin Cipher, the God of Weirdness & Madness and new master of these lands!" the Dream Kishin declared causing reality to spin around like a carousal and then stopping. "So, how'd you end up like this?" "There was this boy with an annoying sword who had put an end to me." the Shapeshifter answered to the horror of Kishin Cipher. "Wait, Pine Tree has Excalibur now?!" he exclaimed in shock. "I may be an utter pain in the ass to every one of my victims, but even I know where to draw the line!" "I need revenge! Make me your slave and I promise I shall be your greatest ally!" the creature begged him. Kishin Cipher contemplated for a few moments before finally accepting. "Okay then buddy, you're now mine!" he exclaimed. "But first you're gonna need some new threads." With a snap of his fingers, the Shapeshifter felt itself transform from a bizarre alien creature to a black chameleon-like beast with white markings lining its body, blood red eyes and a large heart-shaped hole in its chest. "So how's the new look dahling?" Kishin Cipher inquired with a proud look on his face admiring his work. "I feel so reinvigorated master! Please tell me when we can kill the Pines?!" "Up bup bup, don't get excited so soon! We still got other things to do." Kishin Cipher declared before he created a portal that he, the Shapeshifter and the witch sisters stepped into, no doubt to somewhere to plot their next scheme.
And so Weirdmageddon commences. With out heroes now being forced to retreat and the villains gathering forces, me the author and you the readers are left on the edge of our seats to learn what happens next. Will Ford make peace with his inner demons? What will happen when Mabel's secret gets out? Is there any way of stopping Kishin Cipher now?! Tune in next chapter, same Soul time, same Falls channel!
Force Fed
@hardlynotnever drew THIS wonderful image and I was very inspired to write a fic for it.
AO3
Warning:Lance doesn’t eat for most of the fic, but not because of an eating disorder. If that is something that bothers you please take care when reading this.
The guilty feeling in his gut won't go away and it's a problem because he's hungry but he doesn't want to eat in fear of it not staying down. He messed up, it's as simple as that. The mission wasn’t even a big one but because of him they lost new intel.
“Shoot the left control panel Lance we need that door jammed!” he couldn't even do that. And it wasn’t even his fault, you could blame it on the Galra that had made it up to his vantage point and getting in a good hit to his head before his bayard morphs into something more wieldy. It takes him a bit to push the body off himself but by then it's too late. Druids enter the chamber and toast the station Pidge was working at. “Fuck, we need to retreat. Pidge grab what you got and let's go.” And they flee tensions riding high.
The anger and frustration radiating through the team eats at him. They didn’t even say anything when they got back to the castle. Pidge just throws herself into her work hoping to find something she missed now that they hadn’t retrieved all the information they had set out to. Hunk at least gives Lance a shrug before limping to the med bay Shiro helping him along. And Keith, don’t even get him started. He was a whirling vortex of negative energy if you got too close you’d be sucked in too.
He misses dinner not that he could have eaten with the way his head feels like it's not screwed onto his shoulders. He misses breakfast choosing to train around a specific scenario. By the end of the next day, the ache of hunger is a distant thought in the back of his mind.
The flow of the castle goes back to semi-normal. The only issues being tiny malfunctions that they attribute to the age of the ship. Until Pidge runs into the dining room fear clear on her face.
“There was a virus in the information I got Allura I don't know if the ship is compromised.”
“That would explain all malfunctions.” when Pidge’s face doesn't smooth back Allura is quick to assure her. “The ship works like a body, its already sent out it's white blood cells to fight off what's infected it. These hiccups are the few things that get through.” The explanation does ease the fear that gripped Pidge but she can't help but to feel bad for bringing the virus onto the ship.
“If those druids didn't get in, this probably wouldn't have happened.” The first bite Lance was about to move into his mouth wavers before he sets down his spoon.
“That was days ago, let's all admit that it could have gone better. But that's done now.” Lance’s appetite is gone again like it had been for days. He excuses himself in during a swell of conversation but nobody seems to notice.
Hunger isn't a good look for Lance, pair that with his restless nights and you’ve got a recipe for trouble.  He ends up wandering the halls going the long way to his room until he’s knocked down. At first he doesn't know what hits him only that he's on the floor pain radiating from his back. When he turns around he doesn't expect to see one of the gladiator bots standing behind him. “What the fu-” the bot doesn't give him time to finish his sentence before it's dragging him back towards it.
He screams and the cold metallic hand shoved into his mouth muffling him.  It's stronger than he gives it credit for or he's just weak with fear. When it slams his head against the wall his vision explodes in stars. Air escapes his lungs and he can't suck in a breath because the bot forces goo down his throat. It's so cold as it goes down freezing his mouth, his throat, it feels like he's being frozen from the inside out. His attempts to push the bot off weakens and spots dance in his vision as the last of his oxygen begins to run out.
It's then that the machine decides that it's ward had been fed and its mission was complete. With no ceremony it collapses onto Lance and it's that last mission all over again however this time he's shivering too much to even be useful.With heaving breathes he shoves it off and stands on fawn legs. He needs to tell Allura that it's not just tiny hiccups. The first step takes him to his knees the head injury exacerbating his nausea. Between heaving and trying again to stand he loses time. The only indication of its passage is the slowly dimming ambient light throughout the castle.  Not that he can tell, he doesn't even know how he got here or why his head and stomach hurt so much. He’s still freezing
He sits against the wall looking around dazed. To his right he sees a robot which is kinda cool that they're that big but someone puked right next to it, gross. He blinks and when he opens his eyes again the world is fuzzy.  “Lance- ok?” is what he thinks he says The Hunk shaped blob is saying.  Hunk blob is gone again and he's lying down in the medbay. He remembers for a brief moment that he needs to tell Allura something and sits up.  “Allura! I need to-” the movement puts him off balance and a hand steadys him. His head hurts too much he’ll tell her later he decides and he doesn’t see the five worried pair of eyes watching him as he falls unconscious again.
“Is he getting worse? I didn’t even understand him that time.” The team sits in various places all around the room with different expressions of worry waiting for Shiro to answer. “I’m not sure, the concussions I’ve dealt with haven't been this bad. His pupils aren’t dilating though so that's a good sign.”  that doesn’t do anything to ease their worry. Pidge moves from her seat to stand next to Lance again it's been an hour and he wakes on and off repeating the same few things. Robots in the hall, a warning for Allura, and for some reason apologies. She’s worried and it shows on her face.
“This is my fault, if I didn’t plug in that device.”
“Pidge no, this isn’t your fault. You couldn’t have know.” She shoves away Shiro’s comforting hand  and angrily wipes away tears.
“Yeah, but it still happened because of me.” Tears stream down her face anyway as she takes Lance’s hand.
“I mean if you really want to play the blame game, then Lance did this to himself.”  She whirls shocked at Keith’s audacity. “How could you say that!”
“He didn’t shoot the door so it would close, he was the one who let the druids in and in turn it was his fault they infected the data.”
Her jaw clenches in anger, furious that he would even blame Lance for what happened to him.
“Feels bad doesn’t it. Pidge don’t blame yourself, things happen, missions go bad like it did a few days ago. We can’t keep blaming ourselves for it. We just move on and improve.”  She doesn’t shrug off Shiro’s hand this time when he goes in to hug her.
“He hadn’t been eating.” Hunk murmurs as he looks over the holographic screens. Coran peers over and his face scrunches in confusion.
“How are you seeing this the castle doesn’t keep records of this kind of thing.”
“It was just there. Between his readings, and all this other stuff.”
Coran fiddles with with the screens for a moment “Shiro may I scan you?” Shiro stands still as the beam passes over him and the result is the normal charts and the new food schedule. “This is odd.”
“What is it?”
“It looks like the castle was keeping record of your feeding habits for a while. But why?”
“What would it have used the information for?”  They can’t make heads or tails of it and while it was odd, it didn’t seem like harmful information. They shelve the issue and Coran makes the call to put him in a healing pod after their lengthy observation of the boy.
~
When Lance steps out of the pod he’s greeted with the warmest bear hug which exactly what he needed. “How long was I out?” He’s only hugged tighter and that kinda gives him an answer.
He’s ushered to the dining hall the team prepared to get his eating habits back on track. A bowl goo is placed in front of him and he smiles. “Wow, and it's not even my birthday.”  He spoons a bite into his mouth and spits it out immediately his body locking in an unknown fear.  “Lance you ok?”  His face is deathly white and his hands shake as he staggers away from the table. “ I don’t know, I can’t-” He gags and a waste basket is placed under his face. But nothing. He sits heavily on the ground. Coran kneels next to him rubbing cirles on his back. “Lance, we need  to run some tests to see if your brain is working ok.” “Wait what happened to my head.” Nobody speaks for a moment.
“You don’t remember?  He tries to think back but the latest things he remembers are the long days after the mission when he couldn’t make himself eat. His stomach growls and for the first time in days  he realizes he has a real appetite. But not for goo, never for goo.
They explain how they found him and his injuries but none of it rings a bell. Food was a little bit higher on his priority list at the moment and luckily Hunk had ingredients to make “real” food that Lance could actually keep down. They reconvene in the training room the Mind link circlets already sitting on a podium.
Lance places his on first and there seems to be no issue with his head. He insists that he feels fine if not tired. Before they call it for the day Allura speaks up.
“Alright now Paladins, we’re going to try a mind link to see if your ability to form Voltron hasn’t been impaired.” they place the bands on the head and in the beginning everything goes well the holographic lions floating towards each other but just as they’re about to form Voltron they’re thrown into a memory. It’s the same mission but this time from Lance’s eyes. Pidge hears her frantic screaming for the door to be jammed. Shiro sees himself cutting down android after android the rest don’t see themselves, Only stars when a Galra bashes Lance’s head. They’re wrapped with fear as they watch the memory of Lance grappling with someone twice his size. They wince when it collapses on him from that point it just goes down hill for Lance. They remember individually their response and as moving as Keith’s speech was there was no way he believed what he said in the moment he stormed off returning to the castle.
They see through Lance’s eyes as he holes himself in his room trying to stop the dizziness that takes him. He doesn’t eat that night. They follow him and feel his guilt for screwing up the mission. They train with him noticing that the training room is the exact same scenario as the mission. He doesn’t eat that morning.  They feel each other tense when they realize what day his memory finally reached. Despair radiates through their bond when they witness what he went through. They feel his fear, desperation and the horrifying feeling of suffocation.Their journey ends when memory Lance puts on the Circlet.
They slam back into their bodies and rip off the Mind Link all eyes shooting to Lance who is curled in on himself. “What a way for memories to come back right?” it’s only a whisper from his mouth but they hear it.
“Lance, you never said-” but now they know why he didn’t say anything. They felt the guilt, they felt their own fury or impassiveness. How could he have told them.   “Its fine, I’m fine now no big deal.”
“No but it is a big deal. We just assumed you were goofing off or something and that was why you didn’t-. We’re so sorry Lance.”  Lance sniffles “I thought I was going to die and then you guys just brushed me off. I make every shot you ask of me and this one time I don’t you just assume?” He takes in a shaky breath palming away tears. “I’m ok now, even if the castle almost killed me, I’m stronger for it and I‘m stronger for this too. Now if you excuse me I need to be alone for a bit.”
He leaves and no one follows. But at the end of the day they venture into his room one by one bringing blankets and pillows till his floor is a sea of them. He’s not upset with them, well he is but to him human nature can’t be changed. His siblings were like this. All the times he defended them, sacrificed for them and they only remember the time he didn’t. At the end of the day he still loved them despite the hurt they sometimes cause.  And that goes for this family too.
The android cemetery (Ch. 22)
“Come on, open!” Emma shouted at the elevator doors when the cabin came to a halt. The girl’s hands were raised and curled into fists that she was close to hammering against the metal. But that would have accomplished nothing, so the child waited patiently… the whole three seconds it took for the doors to start moving. Emma shoved her fingers into the opening and tried to force them apart faster. Again, nothing was accomplished, except for Emma feeling a little better from doing something at least. Finally the opening was wide enough to slip through and Emma sprinted into the corridor. In her back the other elevator came up with an unhealthy rumble. Or maybe the child heard the noise that loud only because she knew that it foretold an early end to her nighttime expedition into the apartment complex. The second elevator went “pling” the moment Emma turned around a corner. The doors in this row were leading into the apartments that were facing the outside of the building and therefore were a bit more expensive. The people inhabiting them were Joe Averages with 1,5 children, an easy-care indoor pet and an android. And one of them was bound to house - or hold captive - the specific android Emma Phillips was looking for. Preferably before the cops caught up with her.
Consulting her phone at every door, Emma worked her way towards the apartment that matched Daniel’s coordinates provided by the CyberLife app. The red dot was moving back and forth, hard to pinpoint, but eventually Emma reached a spot where it almost merged with the door. This had to be the correct apartment! There was a nameplate on the door, but there was also the sound of fast-approaching steps in her back, so the girl pressed the bell without looking at the letters.
A PL600 android opened the apartment door while at the same time a man in his thirties came hustling towards Emma.
“Hi, Ga…” the android started, only to switch to: “What the fu… farcry are you doing here, Emma?”
Emma stood there open-mouthed. For a moment she had thought to stare Daniel into the face, but then it turned out to be only Dean. Emma recognized the android for who he was by the smartwatch he was wearing. She had seen it on him during many a therapy session. Also Dean had uttered “Ga-” just now, what could only refer to that terrible cop friend of his, Gavin Reed. Incidentally the same cop Emma was on the run from at the moment.
“Well, I could ask you the same!” the child accused the PL600. “Why are you not in the museum?”
“I happen to live here.” Dean pointed at the nameplate that clearly stated “Reed”. “With Gavin.”
“Oh, great”, Emma snapped, while gesticulating with her head towards her pursuer. “Get his indoor slippers, because he’s right behind me!”
The man, who definitely was not Gavin Reed, but nobody Dean would have recognized, either, stopped right behind Emma. He made no attempt grab the child. Instead he just waited what would happen next, in the comfortable knowledge that he had caught up with Emma and could intervene with her adventure whenever he felt like it. At the moment he’d given a lot to learn what was going on here.
“What is this all about, Emma?” the stranger prodded.
Emma turned around. She knew that voice! “You?! I expected the cops! That godawful lout Officer Reed and his lying android-buddy!”
Not letting himself getting baited by that the stranger replied: “I asked you a question, Emma.”
At this the girl waved her phone around under the man’s nose.
“I followed the coordinates”, Emma explained, or at least believed that this was a sufficient explanation of her behavior. “This is my father’s phone! My real father’s!”
Looking at the girlchild rather puzzled and then over her head at the PL600, the man started to stammer an apology. He was cut short by the obvious question: “Who the hell are you?”
“My mom’s new boyfriend!” Emma stated, now facing the android again. She had just finished the sentence when the PL600 broke into laughter.
“She replaced him? Will you LOOK at that! Caroline fucking REPLACED John!” Shedding tears of laughter now, the PL600 addressed Emma: “Did she order him online, by chance? With a dating app? Oh, please, say it is so!”
Emma stomped her foot down. “Daniel!” she yelled. “That’s not funny!”
“Uh, no. You’re right, Emma. That was inappropriate”, the android said. But at the same time he was stifling another laughing fit with his hand.
Someone else was covering her mouth, with both hands and widened eyes: Emma Phillips. Only now the girl realized what she called the PL600. And that he hadn’t protested against the wrong name, because it was his real one.
“I knew it”, Emma whispered. “Somehow… deep down… I knew you were Daniel. I knew it all the fucking time!”
As if that wasn’t complication enough, now Gavin Reed exited yet another elevator. He had Connor in tow and they went straight for the Reed apartment. Emma’s hopeful step-father found himself surrounded by a handful of people who all seemed to know each other and especially understood more about the situation than he could ever hope to.
“That’s your influence!” Daniel greeted Gavin in a reproachful tone.
“What?” the new boyfriend asked, perplexed.
“Her swearing!” Daniel said. “She picked that up from you potty mouth!” he accused Gavin, who, for all the boyfriend knew, could be anybody. But Emma had mentioned cops and there was that RK900, so these new arrivals were probably a detective duo. Or, no, wait! Wasn’t that the predecessor model? Wow, the man realized, it really was an RK800! That series had gotten decommissioned officially, but of course a few would have found their way into private hands after the android crisis of November ‘39. An RK android of any generation wasn’t something you just discarded. So, those two were not policemen, after all?
“But her being detective material” Gavin replied to Daniel’s insult with a proud smile, “that’s your doing!”
“Well, I feel very much like cursing now, too, but I’m not detective material, thank you very much”, the boyfriend snarled. It was the most he could restrain himself to and he felt that he was being reasonably polite, seeing that the child of the woman he loved was conversing with adults of questionable affiliation in the middle of the night in a neighborhood she wasn’t expected to be. “So, explanation, please!”
Arms crossed in defiance against pretty much everything and everyone, Emma stood in the midst of this all. “They are cops, Jason”, she told the man. “The android always lies to everybody and the other one…”
“You won’t hear the end of it, if you finish that sentence!” Gavin threatened.
Emma grinned. “Yeah, that’s pretty much all you need to know about this guy”, she said.
The one called Jason pointed at Connor, then Gavin and finally Daniel.
“Cop? Cop? And android?”
Nod, nod and nod.
“Okay, that’s at least a basis. Although I cannot tell what for, admittedly.”
Jason focused on Daniel now. The android hadn’t been prepared for the sense of wonder in the man’s eyes when he looked him up and down. It was, in fact, the very last thing he had expected.
“And this here… is really an android?” Boyfriend Jason asked. “I never knew they could be like this!”
“Me, neither!” Gavin agreed. “Last time we spoke he had brains! Why did you open the door, Danny? We messaged you not to on our way here!”
Daniel shrugged. “What would hiding have achieved? Emma has the coordinates memorized. One way or another she’d come here or to the museum or to another inconvenient place at an inconvenient time, probably chased by the school police. Better to have this showdown where we choose to have it and on familiar ground.”
To Jason the android said: “Come in, since you’ve come so far already. Be mindful of the cats.”
Gavin nodded to the RK800. “You, too, Connor”, he said, “Since “stay in the car” is something you obviously cannot compute.”
The two men, two androids and the girlchild entered the apartment. As if their situation hadn’t been messed up enough already, now Evelyn came rushing down the from the upstairs study to fling herself into Gavin’s arms.
“Whoa there, plastic-brat, cut that out! I’m still not your father!”
Emma rolled her eyes.
“Lucky you”, she told the child android, then pointed at Jason. “I wish he’d say that to me.”
“Look, Emma”, Jason started, “I told you before that I do not require you to call me father. That would be odd, with you being nearly twelve years old. We do not even have to become friends, but what we should try to do is to get along!”
“Something straight out of a spare parts catalogue should keep a low profile”, Daniel snarled. He didn’t know this man and although he didn’t seem to be bad in any way, the android felt he needed to hate Jason, because Emma rejected him.
“I… am not among friends here, huh?” Jason remarked.
“Don’t worry.” That came from Connor. “That’s the normal state of affairs for this team.”
And then he closed the door behind everyone.
Digies pt. 2
(Ps. If you didn’t notice this is based off of Reverse’s world but is obviously not canon.)
TJ woke to a cement ceiling and a bad taste in the back of her mouth. She grimaced she she shifted onto her side and pulled herself up. A rattling made her notice the chain and shackle trapping her to the cement floor.
“What the-” TJ whispered. She grabbed the chain and pulled on it to make sure it was real.
Clang!
The distant sound of a door shutting and footsteps coming closer had TJ on alert. The first three beings to step inside had her eyes widening but the fourth was the kicker.
“Alexander Marshi,” TJ greeted with a venomous stare.
She glanced to what looked like three Google's stationed around her cell. Each had a black shirt with three different colored horizontal stripes on the side. The one closest to her had purple, the next one had camo, and the one furthest away had either white or silver. All of them had blank eyed gazes. All of them had metal lower face masks embedded into their skin to prevent them from speaking.
Alexander smiled pleasantly at TJ, “Hello Miss Erie, I hear you've been doing some snooping.”
“Hello fuck face I hear you've been committing murder and now kidnapping,” TJ replied. Alexander gestured and the Google closest to TJ swung his foot at her arm. She felt it give before the events caught up with her.
“Fuck you, you piece of rats ass,” TJ choked out through tears. It didn't hurt as bad as most people thought a broken bone should, yet, but she was sure Alexander wasn't gonna get her medical attention.
Alexander smirked and waved at the three Androids, “Keep an eye on her.”
All three turned to look at TJ as Alexander left the room. TJ merely shuddered and slowly lay on the ground cradling her arm.
--------
Google stared at the burnt husk of what used to be the Google factory with a blank gaze. The fire was out but the building still smoked in a few places. They had already been through the entire building twice and found nothing as to why somebody would set it on fire.
Unless.
Google stared down at the flashdrive the woman had given him. Opening one of his ports he plugged the flash drive in. Three files popped up. One was named Blueprints, another Research, and the last was named Ares Drop. Google opened the blueprints first and paused as three different versions of the warehouse popped up. The one was what he had of the warehouse, the other others conflicted. One seemed like a completely different warehouse while the other lined up almost perfectly besides the floor in the lower section of the warehouse near the offices.
Google marked it and opened the Research file. Documents poured out, all of TJ’s careful research as she dug through Google corporations rather murky past. Google shut the file with plans to go back later and read through everything.
The last file was just a screenshot of a message written in code: Fdttrs  el etre l 9 194.i ei  hhea ns.Ipceiybh s.odtseaol.3849-.1493mAMnlpsfretehbeet xtdvrytfr oia rsfos94621032 9.-.aoo  ene e iCna w.2161. It meant nothing to Google as he switched between ciphers he had with no luck.
He copied the files and unplugged the flash drive. The area where the maps was conflicted was still highlighted and Google walked swiftly through the building. He could hear the others searching around in other parts of the warehouse.
Google entered the room where everything conflicted and paused. It was empty of everything besides a bookcase. He sighed at the cheesiness of it. The bookcase wasn’t anything special, just simple wood. All the books on it were long gone and part of it had been burned in the fire. Google checked all over but didn’t find a switch. Frowning, he pushed the case a little to look behind it. It rocked as if off-center.
“Google?” Anti called from behind him. The rest of his brothers piled in after Anti looking concerned at how silent Google was.
Google couldn’t work up the effort to try and reassure them.
“Come help me with this,” Google asked. Red came over and both of them pushed the bookcase out of the way. Under it was a slight impression and a hook buried right in the middle just barely peeking out, enough to push against the bottom of a bookcase.
Anti scrunched up his nose and asked, “Is that a secret passageway? How cliche is that?”
Google was already pulling on the hook until he heard a click. Letting go the hook slid down and the cement began opening to reveal a staircase.
“How cliche is this?!” Anti asked again.
“As cliche as your face,” Oliver responded. Anti screeched something back but Google didn’t listen as he descended the staircase. There was a steel door at the bottom, already partially open. It didn’t creak as Google swung it open.
Inside was a large, bare cement room covered in layers of dust and one flickering LED light. The power for the warehouse had been cut long ago so there was no reason this light should be on. Google looked around but aside from a few broken down cardboard boxes and what looked like half a desk there was nothing.
“Wow, there’s a whole lotta nothing in here,” Anti commented as he walked in. Both Green and Red frowned at the flickering light as they also came to the conclusion Google did. There was an outside power source to this part of the warehouse.
Oliver began investigating the desk, “Maybe they left something behind?” Anti went to help him look but Google didn’t think they would find anything.
He looked around again and noticed recent dust disturbance, like someone else had been down here recently. TJ must have come here when she noticed the differences in the blueprints. The dust disturbance was only in one spot though, near the the cardboard.
Google picked one of the boxes up to inspect it. They were ordinary mailing boxes. Google flipped it over to reveal a shipping address to the warehouse. The return address was still on it, to an address in Quilicura, Chile.
“Quilicara, Chile? Guess we’re going out of state,” Anti says as he looks over Google’s shoulder.
Google deadpan stares back at him, “None of you should come with me.”
Even Oliver glares at him in stubbornness and Google’s lips almost twitch into a smile with fondness for his brothers.
“I said should. I know you all would follow me anyhow,” Google said.
Oliver beamed at him and google had to duck as Anti tried trapping him in a hug with Green.
“Let’s head home,” Google said as he finally let his brothers trap him in a hug. He kept his worried as to what was happening to himself.
