As soon as I read @heavilycaffeinatedsblog ‘s most recent chapter I snatched my tablet up so fast. The mere visual of Keith in some silly Christmas sweater that Shiro begged at him with big puppy dog (haha get it puppy) eyes to just get him to wear it. This chapter was literally so cute and I am anxiously refreshing AO3 all the time for the next one. Thank you again Caf for making these holidays something worth enjoying with our boys! 🖤

list of things i remember about it:

lance loses his voice somehow during battle and no one really notices

i think he got his voice back but he stays mute by choice afterwards

takes place during the time keith is with the blade so he’s not there at first

pidge and hunk kinda sucked, they constantly bullied lance and told him to shut up all the time (even when he stopped talking)

The night is still, a rare moment of peace after the turbulence of your recent mission. The stars twinkle brightly above the Castle of Lions, casting a soft glow over the quiet halls. Everyone else has already retired to their quarters, leaving only the hum of the ship to fill the silence.

You walk slowly through the corridors, your mind still racing with the adrenaline of the battle you just fought. Piloting the White Lion always gives you a sense of purpose, but tonight had been particularly challenging. You're glad it's over, but there's still a lingering tension in your muscles.

As you approach the training room, you see a familiar figure standing by the window, staring out into the expanse of space. Keith Kogane, the pilot of the Black Lion and your boyfriend, seems lost in thought. His usually sharp features are softened by the starlight, and you can't help but smile at the sight.

"Keith," you call softly, not wanting to startle him.

He turns, a small smile tugging at the corners of his mouth as he sees you. "Hey," he replies, his voice warm and welcoming.

You walk over to him, standing by his side as you both gaze out at the stars. "It's beautiful, isn't it?" you say, your voice barely above a whisper.

"Yeah," he agrees, slipping an arm around your waist. "But not as beautiful as you."

You feel your cheeks flush at his words. Keith isn't usually one for sweet talk, but when he does, it never fails to make your heart skip a beat. You lean into him, resting your head on his shoulder.

You stand in comfortable silence for a while, simply enjoying each other's presence. The bond you share has grown stronger over the months of fighting together, and moments like this are a precious reminder of why you fight.

"How are you feeling?" Keith asks eventually, his voice gentle.

"Tired," you admit. "But also... happy. We did good out there, didn't we?"

"We did," he confirms. "You were amazing out there, as always."

You look up at him, your eyes shining with gratitude. "Thank you, Keith. That means a lot coming from you."

He leans down, pressing a soft kiss to your forehead. "I mean it. You're one of the best pilots I've ever known."

Your heart swells with pride at his words. You know Keith doesn't give out compliments lightly, and hearing him praise your skills always gives you a boost of confidence.

As you continue to stand together, you feel a sense of peace wash over you. You reach up, cupping his cheek and drawing him down for a kiss. It is slow and tender, filled with the unspoken emotions you both feel.

When you finally pull away, Keith rests his forehead against yours, his breath mingling with yours. "I love you." he whispers, his voice full of sincerity.

"I love you too, Keith," you reply, your heart soaring.

You kiss again, this time more passionately, as if trying to pour all your love and gratitude into each touch. The world outside seems to fade away, leaving just the two of you in your own little universe.

After the kiss, you sit down on a bench near the window, still holding hands. The stars outside serve as a beautiful backdrop, a reminder of the vastness of the universe and the incredible journey you're both on.

Keith looks at you, his eyes filled with a mixture of affection and curiosity. "Do you ever think about what we'll do after all this is over?" he asks.

You nod, a thoughtful expression on your face. "I do. I think about finding a place where we can finally have some peace. Somewhere quiet, away from all the fighting."

"That sounds nice," Keith says, a wistful tone in his voice. "I've never really had a place to call home. But with you, I think I could find that."

You squeeze his hand, feeling a surge of warmth at his words. "We'll make it happen, Keith. We'll find our own little corner of the universe where we can be happy."

As you continue to talk, you share your dreams and aspirations, the hopes you have for a future together. The conversation flows easily, punctuated by moments of laughter and tender glances.

Hours pass, but you hardly notice the time. You're so engrossed in your conversation, in the way Keith's eyes light up when he talks about his childhood dreams, or the way his hand feels in yours. It's moments like these that make everything worth it.

Eventually, Keith stands up, pulling you with him. "Come on," he says with a grin. "I have something I want to show you."

Curious, you follow him through the corridors of the Castle of Lions until you reach the observation deck. The view from here is breathtaking, with the stars stretching out in every direction.

Keith leads you to a spot near the center of the deck, where he pulls out a small, worn notebook from his jacket pocket. "I found this a while ago," he explains. "It's a journal from one of the original Paladins. They used to come up here to think, to plan, and sometimes just to look at the stars."

He hands you the journal, and you open it to see pages filled with sketches, notes, and musings about the universe. It's a fascinating glimpse into the past, and you can feel the weight of history in your hands.

"This place has a lot of history," Keith continues. "But it's also a place for us to make our own memories. I thought it would be nice to share it with you."

You look up at him, feeling a rush of emotion. "Thank you, Keith. This means a lot to me."

He smiles, pulling you close and kissing you softly. "I just want you to know how much you mean to me. You're my stability, my partner, and I can't imagine going through any of this without you."

As you stand there, wrapped in each other's embrace, you feel a sense of belonging that you've never felt before. The universe may be vast and full of dangers, but as long as you have Keith by your side, you know you can face anything.

The two of you spend the rest of the night on the observation deck, talking and dreaming about the future. It's a night filled with love, hope, and the promise of a new beginning.

And as the first rays of dawn begin to light up the sky, you know that no matter what challenges lie ahead, you'll face them together. Because in each other, you've found something truly special—a love that can withstand the trials of the universe and emerge even stronger.

To make things worse, his childhood friend Pidge ropes him into joining the Associated Student Body to challenge the school's social status quo. Guess who he competes against?
