I'm a bit sad. I have been a long time fan of the Dark Parables games that were developed by Blue Tea Games and Eipix Entertainment and released by Big Fish Games and I just found out that there probably won't be any more. The reason for this is that Blue Tea Games has been inactive since sometime in 2019, which was the year of the release of the 16th, and probably final, game in the series; Dark Parables: Portrait of the Stained Princess. So I checked Eipix Entertainment, ya know, just in case, and it turns out Eipix Entertainment was acquired by Playrix Entertainment that same year and has not released any new games on its own since so now I'm sad. On the bright side, I do have all 16 games and can play them anytime I want but I'm still sad that there probably won't be any new ones because they're so good!!!

It's time to see what's going on with this Briar Rose case. It's not easy being a Fairy Tale Detective, nobody believes what you see is real…

Sleeping Beauty (1959)
I don't know if this has been said before, but if Maleficent's blessing+curse combo still holds, the words specifically were "the princess shall indeed grow in grace and beauty, beloved by all who know her." This of course would cause more pain on the whole in the event of her death, everyone who ever met her would be aggrieved.
However, since Aurora/Briar Rose has been rescued from her untimely demise, it may be postulated that Princess Aurora possesses the most powerful tool anyone has ever had - emotional sway over everyone she meets.
She could easily use this to gain favor for her ideas, forge alliances, end (or start) wars, and even bewitch higher beings (sort of implied to be the case in the Maleficent movie).
Disney's Princess Aurora is possibly over-powered, especially for someone with only like 15 lines of dialogue.

I recently decided to go through the entire "Dark Parables" ciel and I want to express a couple of my thoughts on it
Tumblr media
I love the line of games from Blue Tea Games, they turn my mind upside down and inspire me to do new things every time. I go through these games for the story because it introduces me to a state of deep admiration and wonder every time.
I have a strange relationship with the first game in this lineup. "Curse of Briar Rose. This installment threw off my gameplay a few times, it bullied me that way, and there was also one single location that left me with my nose and hitting an object at a guess :^)
Tumblr media
Also, it really killed me that in order to open the bonus room, you have to go through the game again in EXPERT MODE to unlock the SECRET room 💀💀💀
That made me give up
But now that I'm on my second playthrough, I realize that these games bring out a genuine curiosity in me and a fucking masochism to suffer through expert mode (although I'm as proficient at these games as I am at seeds, I never set the bar to expert level)
I think it's time for an expert challenge

Headcanon: Briar Rose & Sleeping After The Curse
Tumblr media
CW: Insomnia, PTSD, Narcolepsy, Nightmares, Sleepwalking
Aurora Briar Rose, upon recovering from the curse thanks to Prince Phillip’s true love’s kiss, developed a sleeping disorder. Unfortunately, residuals from the curse were nightmares about being cursed to be in an eternal sleep once more. Due to this, Briar Rose develops an stress-induced state of insomnia.
Thankfully, her fairy godmothers aid Briar Rose by giving her a magical potion that helps her sleep. Despite this, however, Briar Rose has intense nightmares and even sleepwalk at times. This has caused her to have guards take shifts of watching her and her husband sleeping, ensuring she didn’t sleepwalk to danger.
Prince Phillip, now King Consort Phillip, also put up gates on the windows so Briar Rose wouldn’t fall. Unfortunately, this caused more nightmares for Briar Rose as it reminded her of the spindle with how pointy the tips of the gate were and they needed to be taken down. Instead, the windows are now simply “Briar Rose Proof’d” magically by the fairies who love Briar Rose.

I guess this post is about help.. 🥲😂
I don't speak English, so there may be mistakes here, as I wrote the post through a translator.
I found a small fanfic on the Internet. The plot was that Maleficent, traveling between two worlds, met (y/n) and they became friends. Maleficent often joked about (y/n), suggesting that in the future, if the former had a boy in her family, then (y/n) would marry him.(It is important to clarify here that (y/n) is a person cursed with immortality or an artificially created life (and therefore immortal).)
As they parted, Maleficent and (y/n) exchanged pendants. (y/n) had a pendant - a magical artifact, a small music box that requires magic to operate. (y/n) really didn't want to say goodbye to her friend, but she had to. For Maleficent, (y/n) became the person who saved her from loneliness, the one who could give the right advice. In turn, the fairy, having returned to her native world, shared with her subjects the wonderful memories of (y/n) and spread the melody of the lullaby of that box. This made (y/n) an important historical figure in Briar Valley. (The cleaver there, by the way, had a certain coat of arms of (y/n)'s family. The author also gave a note that that the main character has pink hair and eyes the color of scarlet roses, which is why scarlet roses were Maleficent's favorite flowers. Also, the main character had magic (something like the dendro element in Genshin 🥲).
At the end of the fanfic, (y/n) ends up in Twisted Wonderland, where she learns from strangers about herself, where she is literally idolized on par with the Fairy of Thorns. I don't remember exactly, but it seems like uh It seems that the students of Diasomnia told her everything, and Malleus told her about a pendant with a miniature music box inside, which is a family heirloom, and (y/n) recognized her pendant in the description. In the end, she couldn't hold back her emotions and burst into tears in front of the Diasomnia four, in my thoughts thanks to Maleficent for all the years of friendship.
I just put "(y/n)" everywhere, but the main character had her own beautiful name in the fanfic - Helix. I found this name in my notes and remembered this fanfic.
I read it a long time ago, but I lost this fanfic. But the plot made me cry. I hope at least someone will notice my post and write such a mini-fanfic😭 (I wouldn't be surprised if in the end the fairies will even be happy about the union of their prince with (y/n)...)

an idea that came to mind:
*Referencing Sleeping Beauty. Romantic Malleus x F.Yuu. *Mention of death.
Tumblr media
Malleus and Yuu get married, but at the wedding, a fae (perhaps one who was in love with Malleus or hoped to wed a child to him) casts a curse on the couple. The curse declares that soon Yuu will be pricked by a "Royal Thorn" and fall into a deep slumber (basically death).
Desperate to protect Yuu, Malleus orders every thorn in the kingdom to be cut down, eliminating even the slightest possibility of the curse coming true. He even burns down the beloved Briar Rose garden, carefully cultivated by the Draconias for centuries - all for his dear wife.
For a time, all thorns are gone, and the kingdom enjoys a period of peace (very short). Then, one day, the happy couple shares an intimate moment and begin to kiss, and Malleus's fangs accidentally prick Yuu's lips.
Curses and prophecies are often vague, and the fae never specified which part of Yuu's body would be pricked, nor what exactly a "Royal Thorn" might be. In the end, it was Malleus's own fangs.
Blood trickles from Yuu's lips - this has happened before, but this time, Malleus holds his wife in his arms as the light fades from her eyes, her eyelids growing heavy until they finally close. She falls into a slumber. It's not death - yet - but it's not quite life either.
Is there a way to wake her? Who knows.
But with his powers, Malleus can, at the very least, make her time in this slumber a happy one. If he cannot wake her, he will ensure that her dream is filled with happiness. Forever if necessary.

I don’t know how many other people have put this together, but Thalia Grace is a version of sleeping beauty.
She’s basically cursed from birth. She’s a child of the big three born under the pact, so there was very little chance of her even making it to 16
The modern sleeping beauty is said to be based on a fable from the 1600s that’s named Sun, Moon, and Talia. Talia is the stories version of sleeping beauty, although her story is more grim than modern versions, and she is put to sleep with a splinter of flax. Talia and Thalia are very similar names, and CAN be pronounced the same
Thalia, in Greek mythology, is a muse, but it’s also a word. In Greek it means to flourish, to bloom, or to be joyous. Briar Rose is one of the more popular names for sleeping beauty, and she is named after a flower. So Thalia is named after something a flower does, which is flourish/ bloom. (This one’s a bit more of a stretch tbh)
Grace and beauty go hand in hand. Grace is also one of the gifts that sleeping beauty receives from the fairies in some adaptations of the fairytale.
Thalia Grace is put into a magical sleep for years to save her life, obvious one
Thalia Grace and Sleeping Beauty both have plants that grow around them/ on them that (in some adaptations) protect their ‘kingdom’.
In conclusion, Thalia Grace is a sleeping beauty retelling that I did not catch for like 8 years
