Entry 2
Date: 4/24/2024 Approx. Time Frame: 8:50am-9:40am Days Since First Contact: 8 Locations Visited: 2 - Lemo Valley - Secret Inlet Creatures Sighted: - Finfin - Snuffy - Pogo Squirrel - Heartbird (With pictures!) - Finfin Jr./Finnina/??? (With pictures!)
Notes and sightings under cut. Notes I deemed important are in pink bold italics.
I decided to do an early Teo-watching session today. I so rarely have time in the morning for leisure activities, so I hardly see Finfin and the planet Teo during the morning hours. I was up early today, so I decided to seize the opportunity.
Lemo Valley - I decided to catch up with Finfin in Lemo Valley - Finfin was deep in the valley, harvesting Lemo fruit - Finfin ate a red Lemo fruit in midair. I believe it's a red Lemo every time he eats Lemo here, but I figure I'd specify just in case - Finfin sat on the left branch and sang a quick tune - Finfin flew over the valley in circles like a vulture. The Lemo bushes better watch out - Finfin sat in the valley near a bush and a song began playing, which Finfin soon began singing along to. Sounds a lot like the vocals in Wonder Teo! - Finfin's Happiness went down when I tried to play along to the song with the drum. lol - Finfin back at left branch and wagged his tail at me - Finfin yawned. Not a morning person? Still sleepy? - Finfin went back to the bush and sang Wonder Teo again. Encore performance! - Finfin left, but that's okay. That just means it's jamming time! - At first, 3 plants joined in: Peach Rain Blossom, Pong Plant, and Cup Tree, alongside the regular Taiko - Quickly, the 3 plants grew bored of my lackluster drumming, but as soon as they did, Snuffy joined in! - It was just Taiko and Snuffy both trying to get me on-beat (I assume) and me not quite getting it exactly correct for everything to come alive - Snuffy left, and at that point, I decided to stop wasting Taiko's time - Pogo Squirrel sighting. At least I have one fan of my music
Secret Inlet - I decided to switch over to Secret Inlet to take some pictures - Snapped the whole scene before anyone showed up. Note the Mid-April flora! Seems to be just the Perna Lotus Flower
Tumblr media
[The Perna Lotus Flowers are the pink flowers growing alongside the river] - Wait, the Perna Lotus Flowers... disappeared? Did the game decide that it's no longer Mid-April at ~9:29am? This is likely a glitch, but I'm unsure
Tumblr media
[As seen above, the Perna Lotus Flowers have disappeared from the scene] - Heartbird sighting + pics! I took several, so I'll just include the two best ones and post the batch separately
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[To me, when Heartbirds are flying and viewed from the back, they look like a heart with wings] - A dolphin-bird that isn't Finfin stuck their head out of the water and sighed
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
[The dolphin-bird can be seen in the water near the bottom of the screen. Has it been confirmed if this is Finnina, Finfin Jr., or someone else?] - I was still curious about the disappearing lotuses, so I left the inlet and returned. Still gone! What??? - I needed to start getting ready for the day, so I concluded my Teo-watching there

Finally finished my most ambitious Hatchetfield project yet. Every box in the border represents a different Nightmare Time, as well as Hey Melissa, Trail to Oregon, Workin’ Boys, the BBQ monologues and Peanuts the Hatchetfield Pocket Squirrel. The three large boxes at the bottom represent the three main musicals. It’s 18x24” and made with sharpie :]

first read of may — a cup of sake beneath the cherry trees by yoshida kenkō
moonlight, sake, spring blossom, idle moments, a woman's hair. 'a cup of sake beneath the cherry trees' is a collection of fragments from the journal of a 13th-century monk, as he reflects on the pleasures of life and its passing moments. i think there's something in here for everyone to admire, with its reflective themes, philosophical undertones, and beautiful writing and imagery.
i definitely recommend!! 🌱

Kiy Island is one of the most mystical and beautiful corners of northern nature.
15 km from the city of Onega in the Onega Bay of the White Sea there is a unique natural monument - Kiy Island. The island is a natural ledge of a large stone slab emerging from the sea. The height of individual rocks reaches 25 m above sea level. The length of the island is only 2 km, and the width is 800 m.
The history of Kiy Island is closely connected with the name of the famous religious figure of the 17th century and reformer of the Russian Orthodox Church - Patriarch Nikon. According to legend, Nikon, caught in a storm, took refuge on the island. In memory of his salvation, he founded the Krestny Monastery here - one of three monasteries that were the stronghold of his power and conductors of the ideas of church reform. Of the numerous buildings, the following have survived to this day: the Cathedral of the Exaltation of the Cross, the well church with adjoining stone cells, and the two-tiered Church of the Nativity of the Virgin.
On the northern coast of the island, not far from the now abandoned quarries, there are so-called witches' wells: cup-shaped depressions of a conical shape with fresh water that never dries up in them. In fact, the so-called witches' wells among the people are nothing more than sacrificial stones, cup-shaped stones, common in the Stone Age and later, right up to the Middle Ages. It has now been reliably established that in ancient times many "cup-shaped stones" served precisely as altars. Offerings in the form of food or water were left in the cup-shaped man-made depressions, and according to legend, deceased ancestors were supposed to strengthen their strength here before the long journey to the afterlife. Many "cup-shaped" holes are also associated in ancient folk tradition with healing magic: rainwater that collects in their hollows has long been considered healing and endowed with magical properties.
Many who have visited the island note its amazing, incomparable, powerful energy. The island has wonderful air, infused with the smell of seaweed, pine spirit, the aroma of herbs, plants and flowers. In summer, the water off the coast of the island warms up to 20 degrees on some days, despite the fact that it is located at 64 degrees north latitude. In summer, you can get to Kiy Island only twice a day during the maximum tide, and in winter - after the formation of a stable ice cover on the sea, capable of withstanding the weight of snowmobiles.

a whole bunch of wagtails, yellow-bellied, sits in the blooming wild cherry tree that I'm, well, sitting in as well. I'm trying not to move - not to spook the birds but also not to spook the roe deer I can see sleeping in the blackthorn bushes below. the sun kisses my face fiercely as I look up to watch the buzzards circling above us: a pair, soaring and sky-dancing together, calling out loudly.
the young sorrel I brought with me up into the tree is overwhelmingly sour. can't wait until there'll be fruit, too, to balance it out - but for now it's just the wind that's sweet, and the water from the tiny mountain spring below me. and that's alright

i desperately wish gw2 had more food-centric lore. i think about asura food more than is probably particularly reasonable. they're sort of implied to like molecular gastronomy in the lvl500 chef quests which is fitting and makes sense, but surely not every asura is eating bespoke Pea Spheres day in and day out right? i think my favorite angle on them is a sort of 50s-80s american-esque food style where there's a huge emphasis on things being Convenient and Scientific, so you'd get a lot of absolute slop tv dinners and canned items that have labels boasting how they were nutritionally fortified and contained your day's complete vitamin intakes and so on. a lot of jellied things. i do also fully believe they would have + eat soylent.
