You bundled deeper into your sweater hoping to savor some warmth, it might as well be snowing right now. As much as you wished you were at home, curled up under a blanket, you were happy to be here, watching your boyfriend’s game. Normally, you only went to home games, but this time you thought, ’why not?’. So, after a 4 in a half hour flight, a 30 minute taxi ride, you finally made it to the stadium. Little Muppet Sesame Things #80

The Moment that was Fourteen Seasons in the making. All the adults (and teens and kids) stare in various stages of shock, surprise, disbelief, and such as they finally see something they've been told about for years, but never seen...

Snuffy.

Everyone is silent as they approach Snuffy, staring at him, touching him, with all of them trying to process that there really IS a Snuffleupagus.

The reactions are beautiful, even though David's jaw drop reaction makes me snicker. I love that some of the disbelief sort of becomes a bit more of regret for not believing Big Bird, like Maria's reaction and Bob's.

There's also Snuffy, who is probably scared to meet all these people Bird has told him about, and now they're all surrounding him, touching him. He's probably thinking, "Uh... hi. I'm Bird's friend, Snuffleupagus. Uh, you can call me Snuffy... Wow, there's a lot of you. Please don't pull on my snuffle or my fur..."

And then, there's Big Bid.

"At last! Oh! Joy! Joy! I told you there was a Snuffleupagus! At last you've seen him! And you gotta believe it, right? I told you all along that there was a Snuffleupagus, my best pal. He's not imaginary but you never believed me!!"

Big Bird's joy and excitement is completely understandable and expected. As stated before, he's been waiting for this for a long time and now, there's no denying that Snuffy's real and his real best friend. He even throws in a bit of shade, pointing out that no one believed him. Even when Gordon reminds him that he, Maria, and Linda believed him, Big Bird points out that no one else did. David tries to justify his disbelief, but he can't find the words.

Then, Olivia says that Big Bird has every right to be angry.

"I do?"

Olivia, being a great one of many surrogate moms for Big Bird, apologizes to him for not believing him, giving him some beak strokes and saying it must've been hard for him with no one believing him. Bob then vows that from now on, they will believe Big Bird, no matter what.

It's worth stating that they ended this gag because of some then-recent stories about abuse at day cares that were going on with kids being scared to come forward to tell their parents what's going on. This was for both kids and parents: for kids to give them the courage to tell adults and keep trying to get parents to listen to them when something happens, and for parents to trust their kids and believe them/listen to them when and if they tell them that something's happened to them. This was a pretty smart way of doing just that.

And to end on a happier note, Snuffy has something to say about Bob's vow that Olivia seconds:

"Maybe we should have that in writing."
