Fashion of the Great Houses of Westeros: House Tully of Riverrun
#asoiafedit#asongoficeandfireedit#valyrianscrolls#valyriansource#tullyedit#housetullyedit#asoiaf#a song of ice and fire#house tully#ghf*#mine*#this is actually the first house i visualised in a fashion sense way back when#i watched claire mccarthy's ophelia in 2020 and saw all the gorgeous flowy gowns and daisy ridley's red wig and just went 'tully!!!'#I know the Riverlands are very rich and populous due to their centralisation but in my mind#they’re also a little behind culturally due to the constant battles and invasions#so the style of their fashion is a little less structured and complex than what you’d find in the westerlands or the vale or the stormlands#and also the cut of the outfits is reminiscent of what you’d find in both the iron islands and the north which echoes the impact#both kingdoms have had on the region#that doesn’t mean they skimp on fabric or aesthetic though!!#there's lots of flowy silks and shiny fabrics that evok running water#women wear their hair either loose or in intricate braids held with metal rings (a holdover from the three centuries of durrandon reign)#also THEE beetle wing lady macbeth dress is here in spirit!!!#500*

i was going to add some fun grunge fashion to that ask a few minutes ago like, in a reblog, but when i went to google grunge fashion i just got flooded with like ai generated images that all look like this:
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/b3f78ef533cbbaa577279f90feb4b54e/7f0f2ffe8df511cb-70/s540x810/08b5af9732781f59bae7ebf65df2bc93b8969a92.jpg)
so that's something
#fab talks#fabtalks#ask#honestly i think this is kind of fascinating#because on the one hand grunge fashion is very heavily associated with the closet of one individual (kurt) however the image of it#is kind of this like this is what most people associate grunge fashion with#this singular outfit of flannel and ripped jeans#which is fascinating because it directly contradicts the kurt wardrobe not that like he didn't wear that but it like#really goes to present the commercialization of grunge fashion in a way because the image of grunge fashion isn't gender neutral dresses#or the melody of kurts different hair colors#or the stupid hats of pearl jam#or chris cornell wearing like several jackets and leggings under his shorts#it's just this singular outfit of a guy wearing flannel#the most easily marketable version of grunge to give it like a uniform that isn't moth eaten grandpa sweaters#like idk the best way i feel to describe old grunge fashion is going to a good will and rolling around in it and leaving with whatever you#gathered but that's not a like static look one can replicate#i think about grunge fashion a lot as consequence of making a comic about grunge in my spare time i guess asdfghjk#like idk i just find the commercialization of this anti fashion movement fascinating as well as the looks themselves because again they're#so interesting and had such a lasting impact on modern culture idk i find fashion so fun asdfghjkl

Supreme Clothing has become one of the most iconic names in the world of streetwear, blending skate culture, fashion, and a sense of exclusivity to create a global phenomenon. Since its inception in 1994, the brand has redefined how streetwear interacts with mainstream culture, while maintaining an air of underground credibility. Here’s an in-depth look at what makes Supreme a standout brand in the fashion industry.
A Brief History of Supreme
Founded by James Jebbia in New York City, Supreme started as a small skateboarding shop catering to skaters and streetwear enthusiasts. The brand’s minimalist logo—a red box with "Supreme" written in white Futura Heavy Oblique font—was inspired by Barbara Kruger’s art, immediately positioning it as a visually recognizable brand.
Supreme’s early collections featured simple designs, often focusing on comfort and practicality, which appealed to the skateboarding community. Over time, however, its offerings expanded, including collaborations with major brands and artists, propelling Supreme into a global spotlight.
The Power of Scarcity and Hype
One of Supreme's most genius marketing strategies is its focus on limited-edition releases. Known as "drops," these weekly launches feature a small number of items, which often sell out within minutes. The limited supply creates a sense of urgency and exclusivity, driving demand among its loyal fanbase.
This scarcity-based model has led to a robust resale market, where Supreme items often sell for multiples of their original price. Iconic pieces, such as the Supreme box logo Supreme hoodies or collaborations with brands like Louis Vuitton, Nike, and The North Face, are particularly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts.
Collaborations: A Supreme Strategy
Supreme T Shirt
has consistently stayed relevant through collaborations with other brands, artists, and even cultural icons. Some of the most notable collaborations include:
Supreme x Louis Vuitton (2017): A groundbreaking partnership that merged luxury fashion with streetwear, bridging two seemingly disparate worlds.
Supreme x Nike: Frequent collaborations with Nike have resulted in highly coveted sneakers and apparel that blend functionality with urban aesthetics.
Supreme x The North Face: Combining utility with style, this collaboration offers jackets, backpacks, and accessories that appeal to outdoor enthusiasts and fashion aficionados alike.
These collaborations are a testament to Supreme's ability to innovate and remain a cultural touchpoint.
The Cultural Impact of Supreme
Supreme's influence extends beyond clothing; it represents a lifestyle. The brand is deeply rooted in skateboarding culture, but its appeal has transcended boundaries to attract celebrities, musicians, and fashion-forward individuals. Supreme has become a status symbol, with its pieces often worn as a badge of cultural awareness and style.
Moreover, Supreme Jacket has played a significant role in legitimizing streetwear as a major player in the fashion industry. What was once considered niche has become mainstream, thanks to brands like Supreme paving the way for others to follow.
Criticism and Controversies
Despite its success, Supreme has faced criticism over its pricing strategy, perceived elitism, and environmental impact. Additionally, the brand's logo has been scrutinized for its similarities to Barbara Kruger's work, raising questions about artistic appropriation.
However, these controversies have done little to dampen the brand’s appeal, often fueling further interest and discourse around it.
Conclusion
Supreme Shorts
is more than just a fashion brand; it’s a cultural phenomenon that has shaped the way we view streetwear and its place in society. By combining exclusivity, innovation, and a deep connection to youth culture, Supreme continues to dominate the streetwear scene. Whether you're a skater, a collector, or someone who appreciates cutting-edge fashion, Supreme remains a name synonymous with style and influence.

the haladyans probably wore some sort of armour, right? & knowing shit about them is like, an 'intellectual' thing. & we see modern perceptions of them ('men in skirts'). do u think the reason no one wears armour in skuldenore is because protecting yourself is seen as effeminate & therefore undesirable. no froi you can't wear chainmail if u want to be accepted by your peers. real men either dodge or let their opponent's blade tear through them like a hot knife through butter
#when finnikin was 14 training with the osterian guard he showed up one day with plans for a helmet & they all called him slurs so he#overcorrected HARD#id say something stupid about isaboe and lumatere and homophobia here but the goodreads reviewers would get me so you'll#have to imagine it yourself. make it really insightful#like. a lot of the standards of masculinity upheld in skuldenore seem almost entirely derived from our current sitch. the impact of just#skipping the entirety of like‚ 500-1500 years (my history is not good) of fashion to go straight to pseudo-medieval fashion as seen in#popular culture today was uh. bad for them armour-wise i think#i don't know. i've been thinking about this for a while but i don't think i got out everything i wanted here. oh well!

can’t stop intellectualizing about barbie
#maybe ill post a rant later#tales from diana#it's funny. i've written a lot in my private diaries and notebooks about how much i love dolls and have always loved dolls#and what an impact they've had on me personally and wider popular culture#and why i view them as both products and art#etc etc etc#but i dont really try and convince others of those points even on this personal blog where ill rant about truly ANYTHING stupid i want#its not like im worried about anyone judging or tearing apart my opinions (my followers first of all would never)#(i dont think tumblr generally would either. maybe some pockets of tumblr but theyd have to find it somehow)#i guess for me its just a very introspective topic first of all bc it goes back to my early childhood and covers basically all of my life#and i dont assume the history of my life is something that interests most people very much#like most ppl dont really wanna hear about how many similarities i find between playing w dolls and writing poems#(altho ive written and posted poems on that topic before!)#it would be interesting specifically to ppl who know me well. which is probably why ive also talked about this a lot w my sister#kaily and i would literally play games of dolls that would last entire days for like several days in a row#playing w dolls was my FAVORITE thing in the world hands down as a kid. and it did so much good for me#but also barbie and other fashion dolls are so culturally and historically significant and impactful in many underappreciated ways#justice to all doll lovers. xoxoxox

#good for billboard for putting beyonce at no1 of the list and it's deserved honestly but what sort of vendetta do they have against harry?#like i get it if they didn't want to put him on the list because his solo career is still newish but not even on the honorary mentions???#and using his achievements only in relation to 1d??#although i have to say he does have a pretty good cultural impact when he's the trendsetter for men's fashion for years now#anyway#i was telling andy that publications/press etc have a weird kink of burning bridges with him when it's not easy to get back#on his good graces lol

I've always been living pretty comfortably in life, to the point where I'm in a soul-sucking job, but still have a lifetime of financial stability to fall back onto.
I've grown up in one of the wealthiest ZIP codes in the US, and was sung the praises of venture capitalism, micro-financing, and angel investment in high achool, because most of my peers came from money and could actively do those things. I've been taught all my life about Capitalism being an engine for great good!
Four years ago, I was still barely believing that, because I'm autistic as heck, and not only have a enough shreds of empathy to make a crazy quilt, but also was watching private equity and venture capitalist-funded startups wreck entire business or absolutely get wrecked themselves.
I don't mean to longpost, but I've grown to radically lean way more socialist, over the years. SO MUCH of today's problems, with stratification, the wealth divide, the scourge of environmental destruction, the brokenness of healthcare... In the US, that can be linked pretty much entirely back to the capitalistic need to profit, in whatever way possible.
And the profit isn't for the little guys at the firms, or working at the company that just got bought up, nor is it being made by "small business owners with big dreams but not enough capital for the banks"... It's bled into the pockets of investors and owners of these forms, and so it goes. You're sooner to be fired or go bankrupt and into debt than to get any real help. It's disgusting.
I don't know where I'm going with this anymore, but we need a universal basic income, we need universal healthcare for all, we need to freaking eat the rich.
The only "equity" I want in my vocabulary is "social equity"!

sorry, im just kind of stuck on this but it's kind of crazy to see, in a discussion about colonialism and cultural appropriation vs appreciation in fashion, the like diversity or distinction between different cultures in europe loosely referred to as like "potato europe" and "cherry tomato europe". like girl i totally get what you mean but neither of those vegetables are even from europe 😭. i know im off track and i get what you're saying, but we're talking about colonialism and i can't ignore that vegetables that are indigenous to the americas are seen as hallmarks of the cuisines of certain areas of europe!!!
like maybe this subject area is too much of a special interest for me, but it's always so crazy to me how little like foods indigenous to the americas and brought to the "old world" through colonialism and the columbian exchange are acknowledged for being indigenous to the americas in favour of being seen instead as hallmark ingredients to european cuisines.
#frankie yells#i feel like idk im minimizing my frustration abt this or something#but also in the context of where the thing that got me stuck on this was said im like uh maybe not the place to say anything given that i am#getting caught on a semantic detail in a throwaway sentence in a larger important discussion about fashion literacy and cultural#appropriation vs appreciation and colonialism etc etc#but also the way colonialism and the impact of colonialism are so normalized in our world drive me fucking crazy#so.

I want, like, an over-the-top, going-to-feel-outdated-in-five-years-but-will-contain-kernels-of-startling-relevance novel about, like. A data broker.
#ive read this book from 2004 called so yesterday that's about like. trend cycles and advertising. and that sounds like it sucks#but its one of my favorite books and its genuinely such a fun read#theres a lot in it thats silly and unserious (and v fun) but it takes the culture of the time very seriously. i dont have the vantage point#to really determine any sort of truthfulness about the portrayal. but taking it at face value? theres a lot of respect and fascination and#appreciation. for trends and how they impact advertising. and vice versa. and what exists outside of that.#and it was fun to read that having had next to no interest in the subject.#anyway i want that but instead of selling stolen fashion ideas to brands make it like modern data brokering. brokeredge?
