I'm still in a  rosé frame of mind for this #SparklingWIneSunday, going with Jeio  Cuvée  Rosé  (sample). The wine is produced by the Bisol family. and inspired by Desiderio Bisol. His wife gave him the nickname, “Jeio". The wine originates from a selection of vines chosen from plots scattered across the Prosecco hills is produced from passion and expertise that has matured into the production of a cuvée.   This pink is delish. Coming through with sensuous aromas of roses and fruit. As you know, I'm really picky about Prosecco and I happen to really love the Jeio selections. They make some outstanding bubbly. I'm going to pair with a cheese plate and  ribs from Kansas City ( thanks to FreshDirect). These bubbles would be fab for brunch, sipping while binging on a show, or simply with a good home cooked meal. A bottle will only run you from around $13-$16. That price point also means great for celebrations. BOOM! Normally I'm sipping sparkling wine on Sunday with or the addition of Spanish wine. Today I was craving a Sauvignon Blanc from Wautoma Springs, so technically you could say it's #SauvignonBlancSunday.  I'm really digging this wine. It's so easy to sip. It's light but has a zip on the finish which is pleasing to the palate. The wine is produced in Washington, the Columbia Valley region to be exact. The 100% Sauvignon blanc showcases grassy notes along with a hint of grapefruit and melon. It's a good wine for sipping and pairing and will only run you around $17. Get it in. Happy National Anisette Day! If you aren't familiar, it's a French liqueur derived from aniseed. I'm a big fan of Anise. It's what I call a "witchy sexy spice".  Anise has always been a popular ingredient for  food, medicine, and magick! As for anisette it's the oldest of several anise-flavored liqueurs. It's a digestif that is popular in such countries as France, Italy, Spain, and Portugal. People compare it to Sambuca, which is the Italian version of anisette. I got to wine and dine at Zuma featuring wine by Yealands Wines from New Zealand. Their chief winemaker, Natalie Christensen, was in the house to take us through the wines which included Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir.  You may not think that modern Japanese would pair well with wine from New Zealand, but it’s the perfect pairing. 🍷 Yealands is located in Awatere Valley, the southernmost, coolest, and driest of Marlborough’s wine region. All of their wines are sustainable. The wines are definitely worth sipping. They are mainly available in restaurants, but making their way to more stores. Be ready! What I know for sure is that I really want to go to New Zealand to hang out with Nat and drink some among the vines. While In Italy: 🇮🇹 The first grappa producer that we got to spend quality time with was Bonollo. We wined and dined with Elvio Bonollo then were walked though a tasting of his family's grappa. Bonollo dates back to 1908 and is one of the top grappa producers.💃 I'm a big fan of their aged grappas. I could rock those anytime. They are perfect to sip during the crisp Autumn months and the cold ass winter time. Get in on grappa. You will be so glad that you did. I had the pleasure of being invited to a small lunch with Anthony Walkenhorst of Kim Crawford Wines at Arva Estiatorio. I love the intimate lunches with winemakers because you really get a chance to ask them about wine  and get to know them better. Walkenhorst is quite charming.  There’s a reason why his sounds a little like Hugh Jackman. He’s an Aussie and not a Kiwi. The one thing that he loves about New Zealand is there is nothing there that can kill ya. It’s a land full of beauty and unique animals. Kim Crawford is famous for their Sauvignon Blanc. A wine that’s crisp, tangy, and a little bit flirty on the palate. Don’t sleep on their Rosé or Pinot Noir. I’m pretty picky about Rosé and loved it. It’s definitely different than one you will find from Provence. It had has lots of flavor and comes through strawberry and tropical fruit aromas. If you haven’t tried wine from New Zealand, Kim Crawford, would be the way to go. Might I add that the wine was the perfect pairing with the food from Avra. If you dig Greek eats, it is a restaurant for you. Everything was delish! For full video, link in bio. About last night: I was invited to go on an adventure with Rémy Martin. My love for Cognac runs deep! 💃 Bring it!   We kicked things off at Gotham Bar & Grill. It’s a nice spot for the grown and sexy! Started the night with a Joie de Vivre cocktail, which has Remy XO ( $28). I was also introduced to Rémy’s new permanent expression, Tercet, new to the US as of this week. It’s created by three artisans: Rémy Martin's Cellar Master Baptiste Loiseau, Wine Master Francis Nadeau, and Master Distiller Jean-Marie Bernard. They worked together to distill, blend, and form the new Cognac. It’s great neat and in classic cocktails. Before we left, I had a Sazerac made with Remy 1738. PS- Make sure you have the lobster rolls at Gotham. They are so good. 🦞 Next we hit, Thalassa, a Greek restaurant that’s been serving up high end seafood in NYC since 2002. Had more Tercet and a little Greek wine with some fabulous food including the Spanakopita, Shrimp Youvetsi with Orzo, Greek dips, and Wild King Shrimp, and Tartare Trio. Somehow at the end of the night I ended up with samples of Greek olive and sea salt. Turns out, Thalassa, came to be due to the family being in the olive oil business. Opa! 🏺 It was one fabulous night. Shout out to @gothambarandgrill_ny and @thalassanyc for their hospitality.
