It's another snapshot of Dragonbreath and Skelefellas (Skully's a necromancer, Saph is their dragon rider girlfriend, and Andy the skelefella is their long suffering friend/creation who kind of looks like a spider made out of human bones)

The cane crackled ominously, its wood quickly warming up under Skully's touch. The sheer power of it was delicious. This is one spell they'd been waiting to try out for a long time.

Their little dungeon-lab had been carefully set up with antique armchairs and breakable nicknacks moved carefully out of the way. The circular shape of the room and the table complimented each other. The human skull sat on the middle of the table just completed the feel of symmetry. But Skully was much more interested in the contraption, the absolute monster of a device, than any aesthetic satisfaction at this moment in time. Saph had asked them the purpose of all the complicated nuts and bolts and copper wires, but her eyes had kind of glazed over when Skully had launched into a detailed description. In short it was...hopefully...a fully functioning tool that would help them to achieve full skeletal crystallisation. They'd painstakingly built it, Andy the Skelefella double checking that every single piece of the glorious monstrosity was fitted perfectly. One last time, Skully checked that the copper rod was touching the skull in just the right place. Whether it worked or not, this was truly going to be something. Andy was uncharacteristically and unsettlingly silent beside them, watching the blue crackles of electricity swirl up and down Skully's cane. They were so used to Andy's boney pseudo spider legs impatiently tapping loudly on the wooden floor as they worked that his stunned silence set a tension running through their own bones. They'd decided not to tell Andy about the last three necromancers who had attempted this and in a completely unrelated turn of events had found themselves and their workrooms burned to ash. Their deep breaths broke into the silence as they focused purely on the energy coursing along, pulling at the twisting ropes, gently at first and then more firmly. The magic was coming easier than they expected. Within moments it had formed the perfect ball to launch straight at the receptacle in the contraption. They both had the briefest of seconds to watch the energy move through the contraption before a blinding blue light broke through the room. It was accompanied by a loud bang and an explosive amount of smoke which couldn't have come from anywhere but the contraption. How disappointing. Skully waved the smoke away from their face, not ready to give up hope despite the rather chaotic scene. Andy hadn't moved and was just staring at the table, at the space where the smoke was starting to clear. At the skull. The bright, blue crystalline skull! Tentatively, Skully reached out a hand, fingers following the unmistakable sharp texture of crystals up and down the skull where bone had once rested. It worked. The spell had worked. They were going to be famous. They were going to be rich! Wait until she tells Saph. "Ouch," said the skull. "Did nobody tell you it was rude to touch people without permission." Andy jumped back in surprise as Skully yelled loudly"It's alive," brandishing the cane in the air. Andy tore his pseudo-eyes away from their newest roommate to give Skully a disdainful glare. "That isn't any funnier than the last 56 times you said that, you know." Skully sighed dramatically, thumping the cane on the floor. "Oh Andellica, you just don't understand genius. It's funnier because it's not just an ordinary run of the mill skull, this is a bonefied crystalline skull. This is a miracle."

I have a small AU where on the Day of the Departed some souls are able to go down to Ninjago to see their loved ones.

(Such as souls who have recently died, souls who are remembered, or souls who are trusted enough to go down (when a dangerous soul is one of the first two they either are not allowed to go down or must travel down with a ‘Guardian’ such as Garmadon with Morro (yes this is a Morro AU are you actually surprised)))

So imagine how Cole feels when years down the pipe line something triggers his previous ghostly-ness (maybe evil Garms resurrection) and he sees Morro and Garmadon bickering near a Lloyd, Cryptor making fun of Zane and Pixal, Dr Julien admiring all the changes that has occurred, his mom admiring how big he’s gotten, and the damn First spinjitzu master snorting at Wu and (evil) Garmadon bickering.

No Kai he’s not hallucinating Harumi’s birth parents and adopted parents hovering over her what the hell.

Imagine how baffled he would be when he sees some random blonde woman and a guy who looks way too familiar babying a Jay who has no idea why Cole both looks traumatised and amused when looking at him.

Like @zipper-neck and anyone else, to expand a little more on the bi/pan thing, the story as best I can tell it is this:

Ever since pansexual got it's own flag, people have been coming along, looking at the label options and thinking "well, if pansexuality means being attracted to people regardless of gender, then surely bisexual must mean something different than that!" But the fact of the matter is that this is exactly how many bisexual people would describe their sexuality, and they've been using the term "bisexual" to describe that since long before "pansexual" was popularized and got its own branding.

Some of these people have then gone on to try to insist that the word "pansexual" is the only way to describe that sort of sexuality, and in the process of this spread many myths about what "bisexual" "really means", sometimes in a pretty biphobic fashion (and ofc arguably the whole idea pf telling bisexual people what bisexual is allowed to mean is biphobic to begin with).

To complicate matters, when I say they're "myths", a lot of these purported definitions of bisexuality are how some bisexual people would describe their sexualities. The myth is the idea that any one of these is the definition of bisexuality.

This has led some to conclude that the whole reason for pansexuality existing as a label is because people believed these myths and thus felt they had to come up with a new term for a subset of what "bisexual" already described. That's, imo, the origin of the idea that pansexual is a biphobic label.

ok this took SO long but i finally got it done so i hope you enjoyed it! i recently read this fic (i know im late to the party) and it was just way too good so i had to draw it, seriously tho if you havent already plspls check out lloydskywalkers their fics are just sooo good ive read almost every single one

you can kinda see where the quality dips on this but nevertheless i hope its still alright, its a miracle i stuck with it throughout honestly its only my second time drawing an actual comic and its like 30 drawings long

Steldene Curd Tart

@dduane's "Food and Cooking of the Middle Kingdoms" is a bit light on sweet dishes, so when we encountered a bag of Lithuanian "tvorog" - cheese curds - in the local supermarket, minds turned to a common historical version of cheesecake, and this is the result.

The basic recipe is a Yorkshire curd tart, of which there are plenty. Foods Of England (website parked, check Archive) has just one example, along with numerous other curd-based dishes.

This has the characteristic Steldene tweak of being a bit spicy, hence the crystallised ginger and a touch of ground chilli. In this case it was Habanero powder, added with great caution. A scant half-smidgen was enough for a pleasing tingle; next time (half the bag of curds remains) I'll add a little more to find out what happens.

What is a smidgen? This is... :->

As always, this chilli addition is meant to enhance the taste, not be some daft macho challenge that ends up in the bin, so start small.

Ingredients

225 g ready-made or home-made shortcrust pastry

50 g butter

50 g caster sugar

1 medium egg, beaten

1/2 tsp mixed spice (include a little ground chilli of your preferred hotness, if desired)

grated zest and juice of 1 lemon

225 g curd cheese, or drained full fat cottage cheese

75 g crystallised ginger, chopped

3 Tbsp milk or cream

Method

Preheat oven to 180°C/160°C fan/350°F. Line a 9 inch/18 cm pie dish with baking paper or grease with butter.

Roll out the pastry on a floured board, and then line the prepared pie dish with the pastry.

Beat the butter and sugar together in a large bowl until it is light and fluffy.

Add the beaten egg, mixed spice, and lemon zest and juice, then mix well.

Add the remaining ingredients, and then spoon the filling into the pastry lined pie dish.

Bake in the middle of the preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the filling has set and is turning golden brown.

Remove from the oven and allow to cool in the pie dish. Serve cut into slices at room temperature.

Note: even when cool the freshly made pie is crumbly; left overnight it gets firmer but will never be as solid as a cream-cheese cheesecake.

If fresh cheese curds, curd cheese or tvorog (look in shops selling Central European groceries) are hard to find, you can use drained full fat cottage cheese instead.

The original "Yorkshire curd tart" recipe called for standard dried fruit such as sultanas, raisins or currants. Chopped crystallised ginger was our adaptation. You can see the bits here, and the rather crumbly nature of the filling.

Crystallised ginger is more sugary than dried fruit, so watch out during baking: you can see where "just nice" was heading for "too much".

It was, however, still "just nice", and there's a lot less curd tart now than when these photos were taken.

It's very good, quite easy, even easier with store-bought pastry, and we're definitely going to make it again.

Firebound au

I love these kinds of aus so much, like the whole idea that one of the ninja can be lost to there elements is so interesting to me but heartbreaking for everyone around them. Like just imagine one day there here and the next they’re gone well technically they’re still there but not at the same time.

In my au so far it’s more focused on the aftermath, how the ninja handles what happened to there brother and filling what I feel the show missed out after what happened in seabound like we barely got to see how the rest of the ninja handled it like all we had was a time skip to a whole year later when they had mostly accepted what happened ( well not Jay). How would it had been if it was someone else and not Nya? What if it was Kai instead, how would this affect the team? Most importantly Nya and Lloyd? What about Kai and Nyas own parents?? And can’t forget about Skylor , how would this affect the team and overall what about Kai?

In my opinion Nya wouldn’t waste the chance to get kai back like that’s her brother, the one that literally raised her. He’s isn’t  just a brother he’s literally a parent to her and Same with Lloyd. The ninja would probably go down a different state of grief, Lloyd without a doubt would be depression, Nya would be denial, it takes them longer to accept what happened to Kai and Lloyd starts to lose control of his powers a little. They both lash out at people who want to help, but just as Nya starts to accept what happened to her brother something happens to Lloyd ( no spoilers).

And kai is there to help them but he’s mad at them he doesn’t understand why he’s even mad at them, he doesn’t even know them. Lloyd argues back, and something snaps in kai causing him to somewhat come back but he’s still stuck as his element, his minds is half gone half foggy he’s sometimes unsure of what’s happening around him but at least it can’t get any worse.. right.
