Personally, I think Bilbo was pretty awful at processing his trauma (and the ring certainly did not help)

Bilbo quietly lived next his grief for years but never looked directly at it. He sent the mithril shirt to the mathom house. He watered down his story until it was something palatable for children—and what’s more, made himself as much of a bit player in it as he could get away with. Yes, he was still kind and generous and clever because he’s Bilbo, but he was probably also terribly lonely, surrounded by people who could never understand what he went through and what he saw. The only ones who could are thousands of miles away inside a mountain he refuses to visit because, again, he can’t look his grief in the eye.

When Vegapunk mentioned the Pirate King's crew knowing the truth the whole time, I hoped we would see Rayleigh,

and we did!!

but didn't expect him to be such a mess - even Shakky saying he usually doesn't get this wasted, it's interesting. When we saw him every time before, he was very put together and calm.

It must be painful and nostalgic to hear Vegapunk talking about the past, their crew and Roger, and then Rayleogh saying (similary to what Roger said at his execution which Rayleigh said he couldn't stand to attend), that the new generation has to seek out the adventures and the truth for themselves - repeating his words.

if lilia is telling the truth and he really did just stumble across baby silver out in the forest one day, I wonder how long silver was out there by himself before lilia found him. did lilia find him the same day he'd been abandoned? or had a few days passed? regardless, i'm sure the woodland animals must have looked after him until lilia came by.

the bunnies and squirrels would've cuddled up with him at night to keep him warm, and the birds would've brought him flowers heavy with milk they'd stolen from pans left out by the villagers for their barn cats. like what diaval did for baby aurora 🥹
