I remember this boy in high school. He was a bit goofy, different – not like the other kids. [Not that I was any different from this description.] He fancied one of the girls who was in the ‘popular’ crowd. And he wanted to tell her how he felt and so he wrote her a little note and gave it to her. The note said, simply: ‘You’re beautiful’. And the girl didn’t fancy him back. She didn’t open the note in front of him but instead showed it to her clique of girlfriends. They thought it was brilliant. Just the funniest most sadistic thing that they could think of, because the weird lad had no chance whatsoever with this popstar girl. So the clique of girls formed a plan. To send a note back to the boy, as if it was from the girl who fancied him. They wrote on the note: “I think you’re beautiful, too!” And they got one of the other girls to walk across the playground and give it to him, to tell him it was from popstar girl as a reply. And then the gang watched him from afar, to see how he would react. And he opened it and read it. I know all of this because I heard one of the girls (who was in the gang) telling the story afterwards. And she said, “You should have seen his face when he opened it! He lit up with this huge smile.”

Prompt:

Instead of going for Tim, Jason goes for the easiest way to utterly destroy his Replacement and kidnaps his civilian boyfriend to demonstrate just how easy it is to lose something (or someone) you love in this line of work.

And while the whole “make the Replacement beg” part of the plan is going amazing…. Jason really didn’t plan the whole “keeping a conspiracy theorist teenager hostage” through to the end.

Bernard just wants to know what the new crime lord’s deal with Robin is. And why— and how— exactly he’s supposed to be a bargaining chip when he can count the times he met Robin on one hand. oh! and could someone maybe tell his boyfriend, Tim, that he’ll be late for their coffee date on Tuesday?

no but cardan stealing jude's ring when he kissed her hand and then giving it back to her as a wedding ring had me giggling and kicking my feet. he was a smooth operator 🙂‍↔️

okay so Cardan hides his tail because it gives away his real emotions. It makes him feel vulnerable, so he hides it away. and like, it can't be super comfortable to tuck it away all the time, but its better than having people use it against him. and when Jude is interrogating him, she first mentions the letter she found with her name on it over and over again - he's not really ready to admit his feelings for her, so he tries to redirect by bringing up his tail.

"Just ask me something. Ask about my tail. Don't you want to see it?"

Like, he is absolutely terrified of her (which he also had literally just said) nearly his whole family is dead, he doesn't want to die too, he knows she is capable of killing - and at this point he thinks she hunted Valerian down to kill him. and despite all of this, he's like 'let me offer you my most vulnerable and true self' but she doesn't quite get it bc she's also dealing with a lot and trying to process a lot.

and then by the Queen of Nothing, he has his tail out. his clothes are now cut in a way to let his tail be free. and its all because Jude has helped him see that sometimes being emotional and vulnerable isn't so bad. Even without her there with him, even with him horrified that he ruined everything because she hasn't responded to any of his letters - lets his tail be visible. And to quote him from How the King of Elfhame Learned to Hate Stories:

"Everyone finds different lessons in stories, I suppose, but here's one. Having a heart is terrible, but you need one anyway."

Once again thinking about the ATLA post series (not in continuity with the comics) fanfic I'll never write that follows Azula going to work in Iroh's tea shop in Ba Sing Se and her ensuing struggle with psychosis and realizing she was in the wrong and is just as much the victim of an abusive parent as Zuko was.

In this story Iroh tries to help her and at first she HATES it. She hates his kindness, she hates the sadness on his face when he sees her struggling, she hates all of it. At one point she snaps at Iroh to stop pitying her and he says, "Don't you know the difference between compassion and pity?" And she snaps back that they're the same thing and he replies, "You're wrong, Azula. Pity is simply feeling sad for someone's circumstances. Compassion is the desire for their circumstances to get better." And it hits her like a ton of bricks that this man, unlike her father, wants what's best for her. He's only ever treated her with kindness and she's disrespected him and called him weak for it and it's the most actual love she's ever received from a father figure in her fifteen years of life. And she wants nothing more than to cry in his arms but she can't yet because she doesn't know how to show weakness in front of anyone because of what her father did to her.

I see a post floating around sometimes where someone said that as a child, Azula is the scariest character, but as an adult, she's the saddest and I agree. She was 15. She deserves a redemption arc.

I'm begging you to reread TFOTA and think after every sentence which leaves Cardan's mouth that he CANNOT LIE. And I'm not talking about our basic stuff like "You want to hear me scream." "Yes I do and maybe one day I will.", but more about basic stuff he pops out, like when the folk was eating Snardan he was just like "I always new I taste delicious." Sir, what?
