Main Street Shops | CC-Free Sims 2 Lot | Create-a-town

This row of 5 cheery storefronts is the first in a little series of community lots to give your small towns some character. The thing that sets these lots apart from other user-created lots you can put in your game is that they were designed for decorators!

I’ve heard from several people in the community that you enjoy how relaxing decorating can be, but coming up with the building shape is another story.

I prefer building as it’s a lot like playing with Legos was when I was a child (back when square and rectangular blocks where pretty much the only options). 😄 Sure, I don’t mind slapping a few basic pieces of furniture into a house, but spending hours painstakingly decorating is something I just don’t have time for. 😅

This is where you come in!

The lots in this series are mostly empty. The first floors are lightly decorated, but the second floors in this lot and in the lots to come are pretty sparse or completely empty. This was done on purpose to give you the freedom to customize the shops as you see fit. 

It’s Win-win for both of us! 

These shops also make nice decorative lots if you just want to add some visual character to your neighborhood, as I mentioned earlier. (If you do this though, be sure to remove all of the bathroom stalls as those seem to show through walls in neighborhood views).

Since it’s a little difficult to really see what you’re getting in this lot with the over-view pictures I’ll share some shots of each individual shop. They are all built on one lot as my skills with the Lot Adjuster are completely absent.

I’ve included some titles for the buildings, but these are only suggestions. Change things up as you’d like. 

Tear out what I’ve put in and create something new. Slap a new coat of paint on the exterior, change the landscaping and you could reuse the same basic lot shapes over and over.

Remember, you can change these up and turn them into whatever you want.

There’s even a basement with storage rooms on this lot, since that is a feature in some older buildings! Ideally, each shop would have stairs going to the basement, but given the limited space on the lot I’ve only put one set of stairs.

I’ve run this lot through the Lot Compressor so any random references to sims that aren’t there should be removed. I have also run it through the Lot Cleaner to remove any bits of buggy code. I really don't hate Kit but his fans don't do him any favors by acting like Jentry kissing him once, figuring out he's been lying the entire time he's known her and then not being interested in starting to date this new version of him she doesn't really know is a sign that Jentry is being written as especially flawed or the writing of the show is bad.

I think it's true that Jentry is overly concerned with appearing normal but I also don't think she owed Kit anything up to and including the kindness she did show him.

I don't think Jentry dangled the possibility of getting back together in his face, i can see (maybe) why he thought so at first but she's so clearly uninterested and wary of him in the scene where she proposes they work together because from Jentry's perspective she is talking to a stranger that had been lying to and stalking her.

She gave him a chance to make up to her that he was part of a murder plot with her as the intended victim. That's all. Forgiveness is not the same as romantic interest and she only offered him the former.

Jentry tried to be friendly but even during the mission to steal the robe Kit is already overstepping. Implying things to Gugu about him and Jentry, rejecting Michael on Jentry's behalf even as she is listening to him and explicitly telling him she would say yes?! Like I'm sorry but if Kit was only doing this so they could get back together the Michael mum scene was a flashing neon sign that Jentry was not offering that. She's not being unclear or hiding her interest in Michael, she is literally shouting it in Kit's ear.

Jentry ended up dating Michael and he has powers but apart from her eventual relationship with Michael showing how Jentry has grown as a character and learned to embrace both her powers and that her life will never be normal - Michael despite his own flaws is a) a person Jentry knows and trusts and b) very upfront with Jentry about the visions. As soon as he figures out the visions are real he tells Jentry. Michael's powers also have absolutely nothing to do with Jentry- Kit being a face painting demon is not because of Jentry but him hiding that he's a face painting demon is a direct result of him being part of a conspiracy to kill her! It's not like he happens to be a face painting demon who already lives there. Seducing and Killing her is Kit's entire reason for coming to town in the first place!

Also Michael takes no for an answer. After Kit rejects the mum on Jentry's behalf (against her explicit instructions not to!) Micheal doesn't try and convince Jentry that she's wrong for rejecting him. Michael always backs off when Jentry pulls away even though she is clearly and consistently romantically interested in him.

I don't think it's Kit's fault that he's isolated and bad at reading signals. I do think he made a lot of assumptions starting from immediately after the kiss because again they don't even agree to start dating before he pulls away and then she learns that he was lying, but somehow he expects that they're going to jump into a relationship after they steal the robes.

I also don't think it's Jentry's responsibility to work overtime to understand things from his perspective when he's being pushy and ignoring the very clear signs that she is interested in Michael and also I can't emphasize this point enough- he moved to town and spent months lying to her face specifically because he was an agent in a plan to kill her. I don't care how or why he changed his mind -that's enough reason for Jentry to have thrown his ass in the portal directly after the fair.

like imagine he continues just using windmills since like they are cheap to build and work well. However they dont produce that much energy

the bittersweet but absolute flood of relief that comes from admitting defeat at living independently, to have to move back in with parents. we tried! we gave it our best shot for almost 3 years! but living like this (being on our own) is just not possible for us at this time of our lives. we've finally proved it to ourselves that we can't do it. it'll be okay to let ourselves rest now

What’s the lie your character says most often?

Any situation-specific variant of 'I'm supposed to be here' or 'Oh, sorry, am I not supposed to be here?', with admittedly very limited success, but it can serve as a time-buy if nothing else

16. What kinds of people do they have arguments with in their head?

Mostly people who have caught him doing something or kicked him out of somewhere, trying to work out how he might have talked his way out of the situation

31. When do they feel the most guilt? How do they respond to it?

Any time he feels like his presence and/or actions have directly made someone he cares about's life more difficult in any way. He typically responds by removing himself completely, partly under the assumption that the other person would want him to just get away from them and partly to avoid being more of a problem/ being a problem again. 'Removing himself completely' can span anywhere from 'a few hours' to 'forever, if possible' depending on the severity of the situation (or at least, the severity of the guilt he feels about it)

54. What’s their instinct in a fight / flight / freeze / fawn situation?

Freeze, followed by flight. In situations of actual danger he's really good at quickly evaluating what kind of response is actually best suited-- if not overcorrecting and pushing a little too far into real danger when his instincts say to run-- but in social situations flee is his only release valve for the instinct to freeze that prevents getting stuck in it to the point of total shutdown

Gyms for Sims | CC-Free Sims 2 Community Lots | Create-a-Town

These two different community gym lots are built and decorated in a similar style but their exteriors are painted to look different. 

Puns and cute plays on words are a notorious part of the Sims games, and because I have a few playfulness points, I’ve tried to have these lots follow in that legacy with their names.

First up is the small “Gym-in-a-Box”, named for not only its more boxy shape, but also the shape of the lot (2x2).

This little gym is 3 stories tall and provides your sims with lots of options for exercising, or soothing their over-worked muscles.

You will need to download the Maxis Lost and Found Fixed CAS Window to get it to look exactly like the pictures. The window is not included in this download. Since this is an object that came with the game, but was hidden, I don’t really consider it CC, however, if you do please feel free to replace the 3rd story windows with the regular High-Tech Loft Window that is visible on the front of the building (also on the 3rd story) above the front doors.

This lot comes lightly furnished and would most likely benefit from some added décor should you desire to do that. It should be functional without any extra fussing though.

Alright, let’s see what you’re getting with this small but serious gym:

1st Floor From top-left: Hot-Tub, Vending machines, bathrooms, entry area (with “healthy” meal options [regular grocery freezers]), main workout space, side-entry.

2nd Floor From top-left: weight room, vending machines, bathrooms, the rest of the floor is open to first story.

3rd Floor From top-left: ballet studio, bathroom, sports massage studio (could also be a physical therapy office).

Next up, it’s The Slim Gym, so named because of the lot shape (5x2) it is built on.

This lot is fairly sizable so if your computer is good enough you should be able to have your sims enjoy exercising with a plethora of not-so-fresh-smelling patrons. What could be more fun? 😂

You will need to have the Maxis Lost and Found Fixed CAS Window  installed to get it to look exactly like the pictures. That window is not included in this download. Since this is an object that came with the game, but was hidden, I don’t really consider it CC, however, if you do, please feel free to replace the 3rd story windows in the black corrugated siding section with the regular High-Tech Loft Window.

I realized after packaging this lot that I also have the Freetime pre-order bonus poster hung in the ballet studio. It is included, but you do not have to install it if you use the Sims2Pack Clean installer. This is an original Maxis/EA object however, so you probably already have it in your game.

Let’s have a look at those spacious floorplans, shall we?

1st Floor From left: pool, shower and locker rooms, hot-tub, weight room, locker rooms and showers, vending machines, main floor bathrooms, treadmills, staff offices, or offices for personal trainers/nutritionists, and the entry area (with “healthy” meal options [regular grocery freezers]).

2nd Floor From left: open to floor below, upstairs sitting area above pool, small back patio area, ballet studio, sports massage/physical therapy office, bathrooms, vending machines and eating area, the rest is open to the floor below.

Since there is a bit more space in this building, I’ve taken a couple of pictures of how some of the rooms look. You’ll notice that the interior of this building is very similar to the first gym. Feel free to redecorate it if you like.

At the Office | CC-Free Sims 2 Lot | Create-a-town

Everyone that has played this game for any length of time knows when a sim leaves to go to work, they really are held just off screen until the carpool drops them off at home several hours later. It makes for some awkward moments when the sim kids ask where their parents are for 8 hrs a day and how requests to go visit them during lunch break at work are met with uncomfortable silence and blank stares. 

Now neither you or your kidlet sims will have to be put in this distressing situation!

Here are 5 office buildings for decorators that are fit for just about any occupation (so long as it requires a desk, chair. and computer)!

These buildings come partly furnished to give you an idea of where to place things, but really they are for you to have fun decorating and customizing to fit your neighborhood. They are unfinished on purpose!

I used the Lost and Found Maxis Monolith Topiary in this lot. Some people don’t consider the “lost and found” items to be CC and others do. I’ve left it out of this package, but you can grab it here.

Here is a preview of each building. Remember, they are all built on one 5x2 lot and are not separate (meaning your sim cannot own one office building by itself).
