So the switch to E10 petrol happened several years ago, and as annoyed as I was at the time about it, it's taken this long to start really seeing the toll ethanol takes on small engines, and how inappropriate it is for machines that are used sporadically.

With the old E5 grade fuel, we left things sitting for months at a time to no major effect; our tolerant old Honda-powered pump fired up after over a year no problem.

E10 goes off at around the 5–6 week mark. This is not in keeping with the literature posted about the stuff at the time of the switchover, but it's what we've experienced.

We've had to take off and clean the carbs after this miserably tiny window has passed on the following machines:

The chipper

The stump grinder

The skidsteer

The chainsaw (despite premix and despite being run virtually empty)

Both Scorpas

I discovered the Scorpa problem this weekend, although tbf I was braced for it after this many stupid unnecessary failures. A problem with my bike's registration took most of this year to resolve, so we missed the whole riding season waiting for it to be reliably road-legal. There was no way this shite fuel was going to survive the glacial pace of the DVLA.

Sad dead bae after I managed to get it started, only for its float to get stuck and flood the airbox with fuel 🙃

Here's the gelatinous crap this fuel produces as it putrifies. Looks almost like fish eggs. I couldn't photograph the clagged-up jets, they're just too delicate for my phone camera to get the detail, but all the fine holes were clogged to shit.

I cleaned this out with carb cleaner and the compressor.

We only have one nearby petrol station, and it doesn't supply E5. I'm not impressed — partly for my own sake, and the extra work this stupid policy has dumped in our laps, but also for the sheer number of good petrol domestic machines that are going to be wrecked by this policy. For stupidity, I rank it up there with the abrupt removal of red diesel.

Little Danny's Big Adventure

Let's put in some Ghost King/Prince Danny.... But also some deaged to toddlerhood Danny that gets yeeted into the DCverse!

Like imagine, tiny baby Danny with his tiny crown of ice floating above his head and his galaxy cape wrapped around him and uses it like a baby blanket. He didn't mean to fall into a different universe, a natural portal opened up and he was being a curious little thing! He didn't mean to trip and fall in during his nap time.

Nor was he expecting to fall into this realm during a rogue attack and knock out said rogue cause they were being a meanie and harming people and now Danny just wants his nap time cause he spent a lot of his tiny engery and he wants to find a nice spot.

Danny finds a place to crash, snuggling himself into his cape and the astronaut bear Danielle got him during her last visit that he takes everywhere since.

He's out like a light as the door to this safe house that belongs to one of the Bats opens up.

Meanwhile. In the Infinite Realms, Queen Regent Jazz is going into Mama Bear Jazz Mode trying to find her deaged brother, keeping the Realms in check, and is resisting the urge to put CW in time out Soup Time because he's being cyptided again about Danny whereabouts!!! UGH!

Another, as if this brain rot hasn't fully taken over me for like the last year and a half, DPxDC.

Anyways.

Ghost King!Danny and/or VERY powerful Danny and/or Ancient of Space.

And deaged Dan and Danielle(Ellie) (plus Dad!Danny)

And a cult summoning!

So this really alarming and powerful cult is trying to summon a powerful ghost (aka Danny) to come give them power or destory or ensalve the world etc etc. Only thing is, they got the summoning wrong and instead get baby Ellie and toddler Dan.

Also they're in their human forms right now too.

No one is happy.

The cultists are upset and wondering what they did wrong, the JL and/or JLD are upset children, babies, are on the battlefield, and Dan isn't happy cause he was in the middle of coloring a spaceship in his coloring book and the people in the robes are getting louder and louder and going to wake up Ellie from her nap and Daddy just got her to sleep and-

Yep. Someone is yelling at them now and Ellie is awake from it.

And...

She starts crying from being woken up.

Not even a few seconds later, the sounds of this plane of reality being ripped opened is heard and the sudden frosty chill of ice is felt.

i watch a lot of reactors, yeah? and they all have varying opinions on SU s5 and what they thought about the pacing.

gonna be real here.

i genuinely, from the bottom of my heart, can not imagine Any other pacing for the end of the season at all and literally just think. it's fine.

i feel like people kinda like... take the behind-the-scenes knowledge that Crewniverse had to pull some storytelling strings to wrap up in a limited number of episodes and then copy paste that Real Life situation and all the nebulous what-ifs over the actual Fictional Story that we got, which. is not a "poor" ending at all, as i've seen some claim. it hits all the beats it needs to for the ending to make thematic sense. it re-introduces plot points when they're relevant. the moment the wedding happens it all moves forward at a swift clip yes, but like. god i am so, so fucking tired of the term "rushed."

(also bc when people say it isn't "rushed," then they're saying it's "filler," and. damn. what the fuck do y'all WANT lol you get nonstop plot heavy ep after ep and call it rushed and the moment you get a few fun little breather eps as a courtesy you're complaining that you're not getting plot. geebus.)

because honestly, like. okay. pretend for a moment that the wedding episode still happens completely as-is. exactly what are people proposing takes up the space of a complete season and a fourth before moving to its conclusion, without compromising the entire theme and vibe of the ending? the precise second the diamonds know who steven is, you're already in endgame territory. there is Zero situation in which the show can dawdle after that, because if steven has revealed himself to the diamonds then he's going straight to work, and he's going to press them about healing their corruption damage. in my mind there is Zero way to insert any meaningless fluff here that is not one hundred percent steven gunning to get white diamond's support because it would not make Sense for him to run off on little side adventures when he has the pressure of his mother's biggest goal bearing down on his shoulders.

in sum the diamond days arc is FINE, it serves its purpose in ramping up to the climax of CYM perfectly, and i just wish more people would stop letting the nebulous "what-if" game tint their view of the already really, really good show we GOT, and stop arbitrarily "warning" reactors that season five is "rushed" and thus swerving their opinions of the end of the show before they can even make any themselves
