The gray wolf was was once widespread in Mexico, but was extirpated in the 1970s when the last few individuals of the Mexican wolf subspecies were captured for a breeding program. Since then, wolves have been released into northern Mexico and the southern United States a number of times, resulting in approximately forty to forty-five wild wolves currently living in Mexico.

Of the 19 hijackers who carried out the Sept 11 attacks:
15 were from Saudi Arabia (a powerful/oil-rich country the U.S. works hard to maintain diplomatic relations with)
2 were from the United Arab Emirates (also a powerful/oil-rich country the U.S. works hard to maintain diplomatic relations with)
1 was from Egypt, 1 from Lebanon.
None of the hijackers were from Iraq.
None of the Sept 11 hijackers were Iraqi.
None of the 9/11 hijackers were from Iraq.
#9/11#serious post#not a shitpost#this should be one of the first things kids learn when they learn about the 9/11 attacks#politics#this is just...it's such an essential and brazen fact and i rarely see basic outrage over it#i want outrage. i want fury. i want disgust over the way fundamental facts are disguised and discarded and downplayed#because there are things we should KNOW. basic fact we should ALL KNOW. and they are tucked away in the footnotes.#and no this is NOT to put the blame on other middle eastern countries#we know this was carried out by a specific terrorist organization not a national government#but King George the Second decided (and was encouraged by his cabinet!) to invade a nation!#a nation that was not at all related or responsible!!!#a dictatorship to be sure--but a dictatorship that King George the First had been happy to support#so what changed? why did we go in guns blazing to DEMOLISH a country *we had NO PLANS OF REPAIRING*???#well. because they wanted a villain didn't they. a nice clean war. clarity of purpose. us the heroes against them the villains#and when you're in that mindframe--truth is irrelevant. you can pick your villain (your victim) by rolling a roulette wheel#truth is irrelevant#worse: to the people in charge#truth is a HINDRANCE#'Alternative facts' existed long before it became a catchphrase#facts don't matter. truth doesn't matter. the impulses of a handful of volatile & rich & power-high people--that's History. congratulations

being born outside of the west the reality that everyone who lives everywhere is a full person in the way that me and my family are people, and that all the names on a globe are all 'real places' where people live always felt like an obvious given to me, to the point where even as a kid going to primary school in canada i remember finding it like profoundly bizarre and alienating that all the kids around me didnt have that understanding already and the way that they would be so cruel and insensitive upon finding out i wasn't born in canada was viscerally upsetting, even teachers would treat me differently and i would get this even from canadian born nonwhite kids which i just couldn't comprehend. a sensation i'll never forget is being in like 2nd grade and being one of the only people to raise their hand when the teacher asked if anyone here was born outside canada and just the way i was treated like an alien and not in a good way, a distinct feeling of everyone in the room thinking there is something fundamentally different about me in a negative sense and i just couldn't understand it. the kind of myopic chauvinism that gets ingrained in people from such a young age by the culture felt upsetting to me, even though i didn't have the words to explain why or what exactly i was experiencing because i was literally 7. like i knew the rest of the world was real and normal because i'm from there. that should be a given, a basic assumption, and it not being one in the west is Not representative of a 'universal' mistake that everyone on earth makes but rather of a jingoistic eurocentric ideology that is taught from an extremely young age
#like i dont know how to tell you that most people in the world know that other countries are real#including people with limited education in heavily exploited countries. because its a given#the fact that it isnt a given in the west is a specific phenomenon

“I don’t talk about Palestine because I don’t like going into politics : /” fuck you. The existence of Muslims and MENA people has always been political to the West. Their lives and their deaths. Their happiness and anger and sorrow. Their love and hatred. Their sweat and blood and tears. Everything has always been reduced to politics when they are more than you could ever begin to comprehend. Palestine will be free. And so will Sudan and Pakistan and Lebanon and Yemen and Syria and every other country, place and people who suffer only for their pain to be called political by those responsible for and complicit in it
#before anyone starts i fucking know you personally aren’t responsible#that doesn’t change the fact everyone in the west benefits from this system that has historically oppressed and harmed non-western countrie#and it’s your responsibility to acknowledge and understand this#i also have been living in a western (generalised not geographically#and it’s easier and i know why it’s easier#my heart goes out to non-muslim and mena countries and people but i wanted to talk about their very specific plight they experience#pakistan#middle east#north africa#free palestine#palestine#falesteen#lebanon#syria#yemen#sudan#free sudan#non-outsiders

just thinking about kabru. did you know a 2010 study found blue-eyed males were perceived as less dominant (a trait correlating with masculinity) than their brown-eyed counterparts? did you know a 2013 study found that people trust brown-eyed individuals more than blue-eyed? did you know a 2015 study found it harder to track where blue-eyed babies were looking? did you know blue eyes are associated with substance use problems?
just thinking about kabru.
#disclaimer: the social perception studies found that this was actually to do with the facial features linked w blue eyes#but specifically having soft features was associated w brown eyes and kabru’s features are quite soft#there’s also mixed evidence that blue eyes are perceived as more attractive and that’s percolating in my head too btw#i’ve been in a country where noone has blue eyes recently#and people really look at you a lot#it reminded me of kabru and of the eye tracking fact (which i learned in uni)#kabru#kabru of utaya#dungeon meshi#delicious in dungeon#dunmeshi#sky (the blogger) originals#<btw if anyone ever wonders why that’s the tag name we have a tv network called sky in the uk

Welcome to the season of Christians affirming their Christianity by refusing to celebrate Christian holidays.
#sorry#i saw the first “we don't celebrate halloween” post with Joshua 24:15 on it#the first of many to come im sure#*sigh*#like... i get it... i do...#but also...#why willing hand over a christian holiday and basically say this is the devil's now#no day belongs to the devil they all belong to God#and this is specifically a christian holiday#the fact that pretty much all countries had a harvest festival shows that is a universal time for celebration#that some of them where dedicated to false gods is irrelevant. just dedicate it to the true God who actually brings the harvest#and lets stop the whole halloween is samhain nonsense... firstly samhain is not assigned a specific date and halloween is#secondly it had to be initiated by a druid and being a druid was connected to specific bloodlines that haven't been maintained#so the druids died out and there isn’t anyone who can initiate samhain#so can we just stop?#unironically christian#halloween#christmas#easter#might as well add these tags too because people to the same thing with them 🙄

what's the government's response to the awful waiting times to access medical transition? make it harder for people to get referred in the first place. if we can gatekeep a bunch of trans people from ever getting referred in the first place, the waiting lists will be shorter! genius! /s
#caique posts#this is specifically about trans kids and the inhumane waiting times at the *only* clinic for trans kids in the whole england and wales#the proposal would mean GPs will not be able to refer trans kids to clinics directly#they'd have to go through counselling with a separate children and young peoples mental health services before being able to be referred#despite the fact that a psychological evaluation is part of the normal process of receiving hrt/surgery referrals in the first place!!#it literally takes place already in the clinics!! why do they need to go through it twice?!!#i hate this country#vent#uk politics

guilt?
I’m guilty over everything I’ve ever done always. It came free with being me ✌🏻
#specifically I’m feeling guilty today for being an Arab American#idk how to explain it well#it is very hard to reconcile being safe in America while my extended family is being directly harmed by America#I grew up being told how lucky and greatful I should be to America because well… my mother spent her childhood in a war zone.#how do you argue with that?#I would fight with other leftist over this all the time in college cause I could never hate America in the same ways they did#cause I am aware of my American privilege in a way they could never be#and idk how to reconcile that with the fact that this country hates me and people I love#so#guilt

with that new revelation in ii2 e16, i feel like there's... a lot less to know about the world of ii. at least, not to know for sure.
because, before then, you could extract some information from passing comments. remember the french or whatever pizza delivery guy who tried to pass as italian, but spoke spanish instead? from that, you could determine that 1. france, spain, and italy are places that exist and 2. if those countries exist, why not all the countries in the world?
but. but, according to what cobs said at least, mephone4 seems to have made everything. he made the weird looking grass. if he made that, then why not anything else? did that guy exist before he came onto the show? probably not! and if he was made that day, was the concept of "france," "spain," and "italy" made that day too?
there's no way for us to know what the normal world of ii looks like. do they have parallel countries to us? well, we know their continents aren't parallel. it follows that their countries wouldn't be, either. who knows what their history is like? how the normal objects are like? will we know?
#wheucto#wheucto speaks#do i maintag this#i'll go with no for now#ii spoilers#ii 16 spoilers#for what it's worth_ the parallel countries thing is probably still accurate_ at least in my opinion#it was the only thing i remembered that i extracted from the world of ii that fit with this idea#i haven't rewatched much of ii so i don't have/don't know anything else that could be extracted from ii#but anyways_ parallel countries are probably real bc mephone has an audience_ right? i think. actually that's debatable BUT!#if mephone has a real life audience_ then it would make sense that the countries that the characters referenced would also exist in real -#- life_ bc if they referenced some made-up country_ then the audience would notice#also i now just wonder what the normal objects of this universe even are like.#what's their culture? how does being objects affect their society? what's possible for them? do they follow our normal reality rules?#are they even objects? they all could be humans except cobs specifically for all we know#that should be an au. in fact it was an au i've thought of before#well i think it was kind of different actually but it's pretty close.#ALSO at some point mephone's back cover - which as a part of mephone_ is unlikely to be created by him - has referenced NY before#specifically in ii13 i think. it says something about being manufactured in NY or NYC#so_ new york exists. which does imply america exists_ and therefore implies II has parallel countries#but that's not necessarily the case#i love extracting worldbuilding!!! mmm delicious

tfw the visiting researcher comes in and asks you if you watched the debate last night and you answer affirmatively but do not go into detail lest you be told that the Democrats would be right-wing in Europe
#this has happened to me before and it always makes me mad#it requires one to only count specific types of policy as left#and usually also relies on the fact that european countries have a more robust welfare state as a baseline#and i don't think it would be nice to tell a visiting research fellow 'your monarch has actual political power sit down'#the debate was fun though it was nice seeing trump get his ass handed to him#and i do like the visiting researcher!#even if he wears too much cologne#he brought us some really delicious cookies#but i have had this kind of experience before and am wary

that one bozo who made the gender swapped dame aylin mod: it's unrealistic for minorities to exist in this game because it's supposed to take place in medieval europe!!!!
aasimar, vampires, devils, and dragons aside....
bg3:
#bg3#thoughts about media#where's the outrage over the existence of a 1950s québécois dish in a medieval european setting? hm??#canada...canada doesn't exist in the forgotten realms. the land which this country occupies does- but the concept of the nation does not.#also! in the forgotten realms- bisexuality is the canonical norm and gender is much more complicated than just a clear cut binary.#several races have words in their languages specifically for transgender people.#and it's not viewed as strange in any way for someone to be transgender. transition is also super easy- as magic exists.#in fact. it's very probable that dame aylin CHOSE the form of a woman. based on what I've read- the divine can easily change their form.#and devils are all varying flavours of non-binary. primarily genderfluid it seems. it's totally normal for them to change form and pronouns#the majority of elven societies practice total gender equality- they do not see one gender as better/worse than the other in any way.#and bg3 actually does reflect the forgotten realms canon. pretty strongly. in this respect.#the illithid are genderless and referred to as such. your elven companions are all bisexual & polyamorous...#...duke stelmane has this title because it's a canonically genderless title. there is no use of sorceress/wizardess for the same reason.#and of course- your player character can swap gender & pronouns midway through the game and no one will care. at all.#like. for all the terrible problems with the forgotten realms- it's become FAR more aware of the fact that it's ridiculous for...#...a fantasy world to restrict gender and sexuality in the all-encompassing & discriminatory way that bigots demand.#also this isn't ammunition for anyone to pick on people who have lesbian/gay or straight tavs or durges.#my own main tav is a gay man.

What were the prose Tristan authors eating for lunch when they wrote Mark and Tristan's dynamics seriously it's so toxic but also like they keep hanging around each other? Toxic exes except family instead of lovers
#has my head spinning#mark hates tristan since he was a child but has a very weird prophecy about him and considers having him killed but decides against it#because he could use tristan when he's older i guess. and then he welcomws tristan with open arms and then they are besties but then he is#envious of him and then he hates his guts because tristan got a girl he liked (not iseult) and then he sends tristan to get iseult#for him as a bride specifically because he thinks tristan will die in ireland but oops he doesn't#he brings iseult mark falls in love but t/i are obviously already getting it going#then mark finds out chases after tristan but tristan is stronger#BUT IN THE MIDDLE OF ALL OF THIS JUST AFTER TRYING TO GET HIM KILLED HE CROWNS TRISTAN THE PRINCE HEIR OF THE KINGDOM??#also tristan starts like loving or being loyal to his uncle until the hot lady incident and then they reconcile and#tristan keeps there and he doesn't protest his uncle's requests including the one rhat could potentially kill him (getting iseult)#because of honor or whatever. and then he could have ran away with iseult but he still choses (and her lol) to go to mark and hand her over#and yet he keeps going with the affair and it is said that Tristan FEARS mark and this is the part that#drives me crazy because... fear what??? he's stronger#the better knight has better friends better luck with the ladies wouldn't be the first time he has to run off to another#country. so rhe question is: is tristan afraid OF MARK or is Tristan afraid of losing the good fame he's been building up#like he's singlehandedly THE cornish knight because they are all useless now if he was in say camelot or ireland would he be so famous#and appreciated? no! he wouldn't stand out as much!! like lancelot is right there!!!!!#so is it that? it suits the character. however there is something extremely intriguing if he is in fact afraid /of mark/#because then the story is more that one of family abuse where the uncle clings onto the nephew because the nephew can't refuse helping#but if you remove that aspect the entire relationship on both sides is absolutely parasytic.#idk what is going on here#prose tristan#arthuriana#laura reads

man winter in aotearoa is wild I'm wearing 1 layer and I have my doors flung wide open because it was too hot inside. stepped outside and was like fuck dude. I could go swimming in the sea
#listen to my gibberish boy#specifically aotearoa as in te ika-a-māui as in the north island#in the south it gets MUCH much colder#its like 15 degrees its perfect I enjoy winter here so much#oh yeah fun fact!! there is no māori name for new zealand as a whole. all three main islands have specific names#but not the country of new zealand as most people know it#aotearoa is specifically a name for the north island!! its just the name that has been decided on when referring to the whole country#because. having an official māori name would be a great step in decolonisation#its complicated!!!

Not entirely sure how I'm expected to respond when I point out something is white as fuck and the person I'm criticizing goes "I'm literally PoC!!" Okay? Good for you? Get well soon??
I literally live in South Asia, a place still nursing the world's worst colonial hangover. That's like one billion brown people desperately in need of joining Bootlickers Anonymous. If I had to respect the rancid takes of every yahoo that lives here I'd have to drown myself in the sea.
Living in white countries does something odd to diaspora brains. If you call yourself BIPOC in your own head long enough you end up forgetting you're just a garden variety idiot mainlining white supremacy like everyone else.
#essay: why I hate the term BIPOC#1) it's North American as fuck#seriously the word has little meaning for Black and brown people in Europe. We're all just darkies over there bc the whites dgaf#also there's two systems of race over there. the global colour system that's a result of european colonization of the other continents#and the older system unique to the region where white Indo-Europeans hates the fuck out of everybody else#so you have to be very specific about the fact that you're coloured of skin#i mean black people in australia are aboriginals. 'black' even in the US used to be a political identity not only a racial one#2) i'm not fucking BIPOC in my own country. I just live here.#I am the default. it's whites that are alien and specified#considering we're literally the global majority‚ it would be very funny if we just called ourselves 'people' and only singled whites out#it's them that invented race after all. just so they could proclaim that white people were the master race#i know it wouldn't work bc then they'd all be like 'how DARE you call us white' like Zionists. but it would be funny#i just think that this whole BIPOC thing makes whites out to be default and makes us hyperaware of ourselves as political entities first#and fuels neoliberal identity politics that culminates in fighting over twitter hashtags and 'Diversity Equity Inclusion' bs#where they make Black and brown people mouthpieces and cops of white supremacy and imperialism#and calls it 'representation'#racism#white supremacy#colonialism#colonization#knee of huss
