You opened up a can of worms with that post detailing Peri's apparent horrible taste in men and now I'm gonna subject you to my ramblings about it.

Like with peridale I see it as completely one-sided from Dale's end and he knows that Peri hates his guts but it doesn't matter to him.

With perirep it's more of an on-and-off thing (situationship?). And when things truly did end for good, Irep wouldn't really be over it and tries to get his attention.

The point I'm making is that I then thought about Irep x Dale and how that would just be a really terrible rebound. I think I saw one post about Irep being Dale's crooked lawyer to contrast with Peri being Dev's babysitter and how they interacted in the Battle of the Big Wand that inspired this.

But poor Dev man, everyone wants to get with his godparent.

Yesssss, I love all this — Dale and Irep rebounding with each other screams disaster, and a human AU where Irep is the corrupt lawyer totally works

Between baby Peri spending months trying to befriend the guy who was actively trying to kill him in the original show and Cosmo specifically wording Peri quitting on Dev as “he said you two were on a break, he was waiting for you to call!” I 100% see Peri as the type of person who, upon seeing a red flag, goes “I can change him”

In all scenarios involving him and Dale, I imagine it starts with Peri trying to get custody of Dev while not breaking any human or fairy laws — he just needs to be Dale’s spouse long enough to legally adopt Dev, becoming his legal parent and not just a godparent or stepparent. Dale almost certainly would be as bad a significant other as he is a parent lol, but he’d still be blindsided by a breakup/divorce. At some point, Peri realizes that underneath Dale’s layers of negligence, greed, and corruption, there’s more layers of trauma and daddy issues, and he can’t help but get invested

It isn’t worth it, but at least he gets Dev and (if he plays his cards right) some hefty alimony out of it

As for Irep… calling them a situation ship is perfect tbh. There’s so much history there, so much genuine positive and negative feelings on both sides. I deffo headcanon that they at least dated in the past (again, Cosmo’s wording about Peri waiting for a phone call felt very specific — possibly unintentional projecting, like that’s how Peri and Irep’s last attempt at dating ended). If you think about it, there were probably times where Irep was the most consisted person in Peri’s life (he ended up low/no contact with his parent after they retired and he basically lost his big brother. I can’t see Irep necessarily being his rock throughout this, but he was probably at least a steady figure).

I really love all the fanart of Peri and Irep co-godparenting Dev and I lowkey hope that if we do get a season 2, we get at least one episode with them doing that — it’s both incredibly funny and incredibly wholesome to think about

That said, I agree lmao, if they’re officially done done, Irep would be significantly less willing to accept it that Peri. Shoot, I’m pretty sure that’s a little bit the point they’re at in the episode Irep is reintroduced in — Peri barely gives Irep the time of day and acts smug when he brings Jorgen onto the scene, and attitude that probably comes from years of having your emotional investment in someone tossed back in your face

As for your last point, yes yes yes I am rotating Dev’s face when he realizes his godparent has such trash taste around in my head. He absolutely openly judges Peri and is constantly mortified. If you’ll tolerate me being wholesome for a moment, though… we see that between Dev stealing Hazel’s hat to protect her and him going back to save her from Vicky that Dev is actually very protective of the people he loves (a character trait I do plan on taking advantage of in my fanfics). I love the idea of him getting to the point of being protective of Peri. He’d see the type of people Peri dates and decides to sabotage those dates, possibly with Hazel’s reluctant help. It drives Peri up a wall, but let’s be real, it’s almost always justified lmao

(Cupid, whose known Peri since he was a baby and was likely an uncle figure to him, probably sees his pseudo-nephew as a disaster, but at least it keeps him busy)

I just need Eddie realizing. Because we all know once Eddie knows it's on like donkey Kong. Prefer that as the cliffhanger of the first half of 8 TBH. By then Buck is hopefully single for a bit. So we can have pining and will they or won't they for the back half of 8.

Oh yeah. I made a post about how Eddie queer as the midseason finale cliffhanger is the move from a production standpoint. But like, you make bt not survive Gerrard, when Gerrard leaves, you make Toblerone go too. Make an Ana style breakup, add tension during the opening disaster culminating on them breaking up episode 3 or 4. Then you have Eddie back in therapy working through who he is when he's not a father or a husband or a widower. And you have Buck more constant in his life than ever because they are both missing Chris and they are both single and they just keep staying around each other. That forces Eddie to look at his relationship with Buck. And spend 8a showing everyone that they are not normal about each other and their partnership outside of the co-parenting that was very well established during season 7. All through that we have Eddie lingering. His looks linger. He stays at the loft longer. When he moves it's like there's a pull to Buck. But we don't address anything explicitly. Until the 8a finale where something happens and Eddie is like "oh". You know 510? End it like that. End 8a with Eddie saying the words "I think I'm in love with Buck" then milk the shit out of the promotion. Then we can get any number of episodes of 8b to get them together. Ideally no more than 6 just because I want to see the early stages of the relationship and if it drags out to them getting together at the season finale, we miss out on a lot of firsts. I think we deserve to see a first date, ykwim? So we need more time after the first kiss. I still like the idea of them getting together on episode 118. That would be 812, there's a lot of ways to write a nice arc with 12 episodes. Maybe if we get a 22 episode season we can get queer Eddie for episode 118 if they make episode 12 the midseason finale, but like, queer Eddie and one sided confirmation of buddie for the midseason finale is my ideal scenario. Because once Eddie is out it's a when not an if. Then they get together mid 8b on an episode that is just about them. I think that's a timeline that makes sense and I would love.

It was unbearable, but also fine. Too loud, but no-one was shouting. Everything was wrong but nothing was.

You couldn't explain it; you couldn't even understand it yourself. It was all going wrong, and yet you didn't even know what 'it' was.

The family meal was a disaster, but it was the happiest you'd ever seen them.

For you, it felt like nothing could go right. The conversations were too fast, too free-flowing; you couldn't get a word in before someone else would speak up with a smile, seamlessly drawing attention to their own story, and unknowingly diverting it away from your contribution, with no way back.

Amongst the team's laughs, you felt like you were drowning. Amongst the team's smiles, your face was vacant, but they didn't notice.

You smiled at the right times, you could take that cue at least, and that would put their minds at ease whenever they caught your eye.

For all turbulent thoughts inside of you, it felt like your body should be constricting. You expected your heart to feel like it's bursting, or your breathing to become staccato. But it wasn't, you were fine; according to your body it was all okay, it was only in your head where you thought otherwise.

You could force your heart to react, and with a thought, the sharp breaths could return, but what was the point? They didn't need to see that, and if your body wasn't doing it on its own, then why would you even think of forcing it? You were clearly fine.

"What's going on up there?" Natasha asked of you. Her brows furrowed despite the hint of a smile on her face; she'd noticed your silence. You loved that she'd noticed your silence. 

"They're probably thinking of work, as usual," Clint intruded before you could answer. He laughed, and you did too for a bit. You laughed and smiled and nodded at Nat just long enough to reassure her Clint was correct, you were thinking of work of course, not your feelings of disconnect. The others took Clint's statement and ran, adding more onto it until you were no longer the subject.

You still couldn't make yourself heard.

As the amiability continued long into the night, you grew bored of your place as a silent spectator. The dinner was done, so you wordlessly collected everyone's dishes; echoes of "thank you" and "I'll help" pursued you, but you shrugged them all off.

You smiled again, cringing at the artificiality of the expression, and told them to keep talking; you were happy to deal with this.

Clanging of plates and cutlery rang unpleasantly in your ears, and yet, compared to their voices, it was an improvement.

You controlled this noise. You made this noise. And you did it at your own pace.

In between the clatter was blissful silence, the voices of your teammates reduced to murmurs, if anything. You revelled in it, breathing deeply to help yourself relax.

Then a loud laugh met you again. Thor's was distinctive, loudest, but you heard every one of your co-workers, out there laughing without your contribution. Yes you had chosen to do the dishes, and told them to keep talking, but it was like your removal changed nothing. Unless you went back out, then for the rest of the night, nobody would even think of you.

With renewed vigour, you loaded the dirty utensils into the machine as fast as you could, before slamming the door shut.

That was your work done, and the dinner over for you. Finally, you could retreat deeper into the compound and lock yourself in your room, putting your headphones in immediately.

You don't know how long you were like that, staring into nothingness from the centre of your bed, hardly even noticing the music in your ears, but the stars were bright outside your window when Natasha knocked on your door.

Moving slowly, you pulled the speaker out of one ear, and gave some verbal sound to call her in.

Natasha opened the door cautiously. She stuck her head in before her body followed. You shuffled over on the bed and allowed her to perch on the edge, she sat silently at first, but her torso twisted to watch you.

"Are you okay?" she started. It was the same care she showed before, the kind that did provoke a physical reaction, the kind that pricked your eyes with tears and burned your heart with love. Unlike before, however, she didn't smile. She didn't want you to shrug it off like before, and she wouldn't let anyone else but you answer the question that only you could answer. 

"Of course," came your answer, a friendly smile and a nod accompanying it, but your efforts to be convincing did not fool the spy. She shuffled closer.

"You hardly spoke all through dinner-"

"Had nothing to say," you interjected,

"and you didn't stop Clint from interrupting last time I asked you."

"Clint likes to talk, I don't think I could stop him"

"Well he's not here now, so will you please tell me the truth?"

You contemplated lying again and saying you were fine. But your body WAS acting fine, so would it really be a lie? You could tell her that as a truth and whole-heartedly believe it, but this was Natasha. You hated having to say it, but she already knew the answer your heart wanted to give, she saw through your dull expression into the exhaustion and the cry for help. She saw what you needed, and she was here to ensure you asked for it.

"I don't know if I'm okay," you confessed at last.

She stayed quiet, giving you time to find the words you need.

"I can't- I don't know what it is. I was smiling genuinely for most of it, I promise, I like seeing everyone happy and getting along well and having such casual conversations... but I can't make myself feel included in it. I don't know where to interject in conversations, I feel my contributions lead nowhere, I- I just-" you stuttered again and Natasha laid a hand on your knee, silently encouraging you to take the time to untangle your mind.

"I feel so quiet. It makes everything else feel loud... There's too much in my head." Tears fell at that point, and you curled up tighter to sob into Natasha's side.

The Widow said nothing, but she wrapped her arms around you and held you closer. She'd work out how to help you another time, but for now? this was all you needed.

Drew’s Travel Route (Part 1. Sigh.)

Ok, SO! I said I’d try to figure out the travel routes of the anime rivals, and I’m starting with Drew. First things first, starting with Hoenn, here’s the map- I’ve marked down the probable locations of places that the anime made up where relevant. LONG POST, and I’ve edited the map for clarity’s sake. Also, I am vaguely/loosely taking encounter locations from RSE, you’ll get it later, don’t worry about it for now. 

The beginning of his journey is a logical place to start but also we really don't know. He’s from LaRousse City, which is allegedly off the coast of Lilycove, according to Bulbapedia with no citation. He has three ribbons before meeting May and co., but we have no way of knowing where he got them or when or anything. We’re going to ignore those ribbons for my own sanity and just say ‘somehow he got from LaRousse to Slateport’, because otherwise I’d be factoring Solidad in here and it’s just a whole thing that we’re not worrying about. Fanon tends to agree that this isn’t his first contest circuit, so for all we know he didn’t even start from LaRousse. We just don’t know and we’re not worrying about it, and we're calling Slateport our start point because that's where he debuts. (Personal opinion? He's probably at LEAST been around Eastern Hoenn before, maybe down around the islands (Sootopolis, Mossdeep) at some point and around 121-122-123. We'll just assume he made his way from LaRousse>Lilycove>122>123>128>Mauville>110>Slateport, bringing us to our start point and gathering 3 ribbons along the way, but I'm not mapping that out because I have no real evidence).

So, that out of the way, let’s look at his starting point.

Drew first shows up in AG033 at a beach in Slateport City, where he stays until AG035 Win, Lose, or Drew!. After that, we don’t see him until AG050 Pros and Con Artists, set in Fallarbor Town. Now, Slateport and Fallarbor are far away and have a few different routes. We’re saving the desert route for later (I have my reasons to believe he only went to 111 later on), so north is out. You could also go a bit south to Oldale>Petalburg>Rustboro, OR north and then west through Mauville>Verdanturf>Rustboro. We’re assuming the former, as the latter would mean he visited Verdanturf before and didn’t enter any contests and that just makes less sense to me. Also it doesn’t matter. MAYBE he caught Masquerain as a Surskit in this stretch of traveling but it's inconclusive and largely irrelevant.

So, AG050, Fallarbor. He stays here throughout 051-Come What May!. The next time we see him is in AG061, Disaster of Disguise, set in Verdanturf. He stays here throughout 062 as well. Minor backtracking through 114, 115, and Rustboro, but nothing major.

After this, we see him in AG077, A Fan With A Plan, which takes place in, uh, Rubello Town. 

This is where it gets funky. Rubello Town is somewhere between ‘Littleroot and Fortree’ according to Bulbapedia, which is like saying that New Jersey is somewhere between Maine and Florida. So I took it into my own hands and decided that it’s PROBABLY somewhere around the intersection of Routes 118 and 119, or early 119, headed into Fortree. It’s the only place that makes sense given where May and Co. are in the surrounding episodes. We're really triangulating some shit here. Eventually I should try to figure out where all the fake towns are but that's a project for later. Anyways, Rubello Town, AG077, A Fan With A Plan. That episode deserves its own 'wtf' post tbh. Anyways. We're here.

So, from 118-119ish, Rubello Town, AG077, we then see him again in AG113, Who, What, When, Where, Wynaut (WWWWW). So, there’s a lot going on in this little stretch. It’s a big timegap from AG077-113. First things first, I’m assuming he took a detour through route 120 to catch Absol at this point. Absol debuts all the way in the Kanto Grand Festival, but it makes sense for him to have caught it this early on. So, we’re calling route 120 his next stop, maybe offscreen around AG80ish?

And now, we’re detouring back to Route 111. I agonized over this decision but it feels right to put it here.

You see, at some point Drew needs to have caught a Trapinch. Some of you guys who also trawled the bulbapedia ship pages before they got deleted probably remember that Flygon was specifically caught and trained for the theoretical situation in which he faced against May in the Hoenn Grand Festival. Because, you know, raising a pokemon up to at least level 45 is a thing you do for people you feel normally about. That’s a completely normal investment of time and energy and forethought and care. Anyways, I actually hesitated on assuming that Drew would have seen May as important enough to go out of his way to catch it this early-on, but we are three roses in with blatant flirting in 077, and WWWWW is up next (which people seem to agree is when he's like oh shit, those are emotions that I'm feeling), so it feels like a safe enough bet, and also Drew’s just Kind Of Like That™. Also, there’s no other time later in which it makes sense for him to have time to make the detour while also evolving it before the Grand Festival (and honestly even then we’re pushing it a bit). Any earlier and I doubt he’d have considered her in high enough regard to train an entire pokemon to battle her with (again, very large investment of time and energy to get a Flygon). So, with all that, we’re assuming that he goes back to 111 and catches Trapinch here. 

He also gets a ribbon somewhere in this time gap (his fifth). In the anime, pretty much every town seems like it holds contests. I really don’t know. I’m ASSUMING that on his way to Route 131 (we’ll get there in a second), he picks up a ribbon from some made-up location that we aren't privy to.

Now. Gonna be real. I don’t know where in the actual hell they are in the beginning of WWWWW and his next appearance. Vaguely around Pacifidlog? Two episodes ago they were in Sootopolis, one episode ago they were on some random island, and they’re just in the ocean in the next one so I don’t know. Best I can figure is somewhere around Route 131. Why is Drew out in the middle of route 131? Don’t know. He has all 5 ribbons and isn’t going to Pacifidlog to watch May (something he goes out of his way for later but I digress). I really have no earthly clue why the fresh hell he’s out in 131, but HE IS I GUESS and who am I to question it? Did he just want some ocean time??? I don't know why he's here. Usually him being in out-of-the-way places is because May's there, but no, he's not here for her this time, he doesn't watch the Pacifidlog contest to the best of our knowledge, he's just. HERE. I GUESS.

So. Fine. Whatever. We’re on 131 FOR SOME REASON, he ‘travels’ to Mirage Island if you’d call that travelling, they head back to wherever they were on 131.

It’s more straightforward from here- he heads back to Slateport for the Hoenn Grand Festival, AG121-123. We’re assuming he takes a boat, I’m not sending this dude all the way back through mainland Hoenn. Tbh he has seasick vibes, which several unrelated fics from over the last 15 years seem to agree on for whatever reason, but that’s his problem and not mine. 

SO. FINALLY. END OF HOENN (but not end of AG, there’s that part 2 at some point). We’re all the way back at Slateport- his first and last Hoenn appearance is maybe/probably on the same stretch of beach, intentional or not. And with that, we have his PROBABLE travel route throughout his appearances in the Hoenn section of AG!

Kanto gets its own post because this is over 1k words long and took 2 hours to figure out last night :)))))))

I can’t sleep so I’m thinking about my catastrophe crew au again.

I think the main cast would looks something like this:

Badboyhalo: initially an average channel 11 camera man who was assigned to the news helicopter, who becomes the helicopters reporter after tragedy and/or upper management befalls several of the replacements. He is kind of the head of the crew, in that he often comes up with the insane solutions to the problems they face (a reference to his big-finding skills on the Qsmp), but he always assists the others when they need it (after some teasing and being mischievous). He has a son, Dapper.

Tubbo: the helicopter pilot, and the youngest of the crew. He’s very smart and insightful, giving the crew advice and inspiration, and sometimes straight up solutions based on his observations. He’s very good with technology and mechanics, but since he’s too busy flying the helicopter, he doesn’t use those skills too much. Despite being fairly young, he has an adopted daughter, Sunny, who he takes care of when he’s not at work.

Bagi: the copilot. She takes over flying when tubbo is incapacitated or doing tech-y stuff elsewhere. She does copilot things (I don’t know how helicopters work) but she also has incredible deductive skills and logical reasoning. She’s very good at connecting the dots, and ends up finding out how the disasters that the crew faces are all related. (At the beginning of the show, she does not yet have Empanada).

Aypierre: the crew’s technician and mechanic. He stays on the helicopter to fox anything that breaks, and bring out odd little inventions to help with whatever bizarre situations the crew finds themselves in. He co-parents his daughter pomme with a number of other French people (they live in the same apartment complex as Bad and Dapper, which leads to Pomme seeing Bad as a father as well)

Tina: I don’t know what her job title would be, but she manages the broadcast of the sound and video from the helicopter to the newstation. She controls whose voices are broadcast on the air, which she occasionally uses to mess with people (I don’t know a whole lot about Tina, but I’ll probably come up with more details for her later)

Recurring side characters:

Cucurucho: a higher up (but not the highest up) at channel 11 news. He is the boss of all members of the crew, and is/was responsible for putting the crew together. He is mostly impartial and mainly focused on efficiency, but there are situations where they base decisions on their own desires.

Skeppy: the other reporter for the catastrophe crew, who stays within the channel 11 building. (Tbh also don’t know a lot about him. He’s probably beefing with cucurucho tho)

Relationships:

Bagina: the only relationship that will be canonized within the show. They are gay disasters around each other for a bit, flirt, date, and end up getting married and going on honeymoon right before thing get VERY BAD. Let’s go lesbians.

Cucuhalo: cucurucho has a crush on bad. Bad is dense as rocks. Cucurucho sometimes abuses his power for the sake of this one sided crush, like when he had skeppy relocated (to be further away from bad). Maybe they also live in the same apartment complex, next door neighbors or something.

Skephalo: you know how they are (probably). As the two reporters/anchors, they often have a bit of banter as the newscast switches from one to the other. They work very well together, but can’t work nearby to each other due to the jealousy of cucurucho.

Cucurucho and skeppy work in much closer proximity than either does with bad, so they have little passive aggressive interactions sometimes. Bad is also oblivious to this, and thinks that everyone should just get along.

Tbh this is a half-baked idea I had the other day, but I always laugh whenever I rewatch Metal fury and the dream scene Kenta has where he returns all heroically with Ryuga to the thunderous applause and approval of Gingka and co. It has got me thinking about a potential scenario for a Ryuga lives AU tho; where everybody is talking about what they’re going to do now that the world is saved and all. Everybody in the main team seems to be sticking around for the time being to train and be together, but there’s a strange silence when it’s Kenta’s turn to answer. This gives Ryuga (conveniently sitting off to the side) the chance to interject, and while he isn’t quite as… endearing as he was in the younger boys dream, his blunt and matter-of-fact tone makes his overall stance on the matter more than clear:

“He’ll be coming back to train with me, obviously. Sticking around playing sidekick with you pathetic weaklings would only hold him back.”

Cue drama and disaster.

Reworking Jake Pentecost for a different PR2

Pacific Rim: Uprising was a god-awful disaster of a movie, but I genuinely enjoyed Jake Pentecost as a character (much more than Raleigh Becket, tbh), and I decided to try and remake the character in a way that flowed more with lore developed for the first Pacific Rim film.

First of all, Jake is no longer Stacker Pentecost's son. He's his nephew. His father, Caleb Pentecost, is an engineer who was brought in to work on the Jaeger program from the early days. (Caleb Pentecost, Hermann Gottlieb, and Caitlin Lightcap all met and knew each other at this point, by the way.)

Throughout most of the kaiju war, Caleb and Stacker spent a fair amount of time together. Jake and Mako were the only children that each brother had, and they played together, often pretending to be Jaeger co-pilots.

Caleb was always prone to depression and pessimism, and once the PPDC announced that they were ending the Jaeger program, it grew even worse. He basically resigned himself to the end of the world. He often tried to encourage his brother to retire and enjoy his last remaining days with his family, but Stacker refused. They drifted apart, and Jake and Mako rarely ever saw each other.

Most people celebrated on the day the Breach was closed, but Caleb said something that would stick with Jake forever: They'll just open it again. They're not gonna give up. They want this planet. They'll be back.

Jake entered his adult years with his father's words hanging over his head, fully believing that they were only in a period of temporary reprieve and that the world would end once the Precursors could open another Breach. Consequentially, Jake could never bring himself to plan for the future, and chased cheap thrills. Herc Hansen, concerned about his future, suggested that he apply to Jaeger training. Knowing that few cadets ever became pilots, Jake applied and went through training. But Jake aced pretty much the whole thing, and for awhile it looked like he was going to be the PPDC's next star ranger.

But when the time came for simulator tests, Jake sabotaged his first drift by focusing on his negative thoughts. And so he was cut from the Jaeger program.

He reassigned to j-tech and went through the training, and for awhile he worked at the PPDC as a Jaeger mechanic, because it was an available job. But he eventually dropped out to get into the mini-Jaeger battling scene in San Francisco, which promised more adrenaline to numb his existential despair. He'd often don a radiation suit to slip into Oblivion Bay and steal parts from the old fallen Jaegers to sell.

So what happens next? I haven't completely decided. It could play out something like the first film, but instead of November Ajax he'd be caught by Lady Avenger, piloted by Mako and Raleigh. My current thought is that Raleigh is taken off active duty when it turns out that he's developed cancer (it wouldn't kill him, though, don't worry!), and he has to pilot with Mako. But there's a lot that still needs to be decided, so this could end up changing somewhat.

In the summer of 2003, it felt like all of my friends were moving forward with their lives but me.

Two of my friends had gotten married a year or two earlier and were living a ways away but had rented a house.

Two more friends had just gotten married, and were buying a house.

Two more had just gotten into a serious relationship, and he decided to buy a house. She was moving in and paying rent. A year or so later they'd get married, too.

I wasn't in a relationship but was the oldest in the friend group and I was still renting a one bedroom apartment.

I got the bug in my ear that I should buy a house, too.

Once again, a very long post.

I just want to make it clear -- this is more of a flashback episode than updates on what's been going on. But it's important.

Those three couples all eventually had houses all in the same neighborhood. I couldn't afford their neighborhood. Honestly I couldn't afford a house at all but that was right during the time that banks were handing out mortgages like candy.

I shouldn't have been house shopping, but I did it anyway. Somehow my mom agreed to co-sign with me. She shouldn't have, tbh I was a bad bet credit wise at that time, but she did.

After losing out on a couple of bids, I finally found this house I really loved from the outside. The thing was, they weren't letting people inside for awhile, but the price was great and it looked great from the outside.

I put in an offer before seeing the inside (Pro Tip: never do this) with money I didn't really have, and despite many warning signs that I shouldn't be buying this house, I went ahead and did it anyway.

For several years, it was a really bad decision.

This house had been a rental for like 20 years before I bought it. It was severely neglected, but it had been fixed up just enough by the previous owners to hide the most glaring problems with it.

So much went wrong those first few years that I was more or less always in debt, lurching from problem to problem, borrowing money from my parents to keep the AC going and sewer flowing. Eventually my mom just paid to fix the sewer rather than call a plumber every month or two. (Eventually, I paid her back). Now I just have to call one out once a year or so.

And y'all, the house was ugly inside. Just really not updated almost at all since the 60's. Nobody gave a shit.

A few things had happened, three layers of wallpaper in the bathrooms and kitchen, and two layers of peel and stick tiles on the floor.

But most things were original to the house, or maybe updated in the mid to late 80's at the newest.

In 2004 when I'd done what I could with the place I started writing a walkthrough with pictures. It's not complete, I never did the bedrooms or master bath... I think I have pictures of those, I'll fill in later. But just scrolling through that and taking a look is super cringe for me and maybe entertaining for you. Also, hey, some of my friends and family are in there, too.

It will give you a decent idea of where I started, so later you can see where I am now and why doing this has been so damn important to me.

I had a few bits of good luck, one of those couples mentioned above gave me their old washer and dryer which I still have and use to this day, I bought a dishwasher and fridge at the Sears Scratch and Dent store and the fridge is still running... for now. And my house had come with a home warranty that was paid for the year AND GOT USED HEAVILY. It saved my ass a time or two. And at least once I got ripped off by a new furnace install that was an utter disaster and almost killed me with carbon monoxide poisoning until I got them to send out a better repair guy who probably saved my life.

My parents would come once or twice a year and help me do all the repairs and improvements I could afford, and usually kick in some of their own money to help.

I had secondhand and salvaged furniture, much of it came from relatives who downsized or passed. I scoured yard sales for stuff to put in the house. I was paying off $4000ish on a $1700ish bedroom suite. I was at a job that was severely underpaying me and then everyone there got a paycut in 2007. I had no savings, maybe I'd scrape up $1000 which would get eaten by a new emergency every time I got it together.

It was bad. I was barely scraping by.

I made a post about it 10 years ago, and I still agree with basically everything I said in there. And that was when things had just started to turn around for me financially so that I wasn't lurching from paycheck to paycheck.

These are also linked there, but in 2008 my mom came into a little money and gave me a couple thousand and I was able to get all of the floors redone, and new countertops/sink in the kitchen.

These Flickr sets show even better just how bad it was, and how much it was improved. Except I made a huge mistake and got carpet in the bedrooms instead of Laminate everywhere. Something I'd start regretting days into the new floors and would keep regretting deeply for a few years. New Floors

New Countertops

With the countertops came a sink and faucet. Instead of laminate countertop from 1963 that had worn through and had holes in it, I had the cheapest countertop Home Depot had but it was new and looked decent. Instead of peel and stick linoleum I had the cheapest laminate flooring on the market but it was way better than the forever-stained brown carpet from the 80's.

That was the first time the house felt livable at least, finally.

In 2012 I got a better job, and finally started having some savings. I spent about $1500 one weekend with my parents upgrading the bathrooms. We bought $250 cabinets from Home Depot, two of the same ones, two of the same faucets, two of the same toilets.

We re-painted the bathrooms because I was thinking of selling the house at that point.

I was a big dummy and never finished painting the hall bath -- ever. It was still only like 90% done for nine years. I have no excuse for that. I just kinda stopped seeing it.

The very worst problems of the house were solved then, and my house was... okay.

The pictures in that Flickr set make it look almost nice in some places.

Except for a few things.

Like that when you took a shower in the master bath it had started having water seep through under the trim back into the bathroom.

I hadn't taken a shower in my master bath since about 2009.

And the hall bath, while it worked, the entire tub area was a nightmare. A horrorshow, honestly. I mean, it worked though. It was just really ugly, and a little grosser every year. But hey, as long as you kept the shower curtain closed, I only had to contend with it a few minutes a day.

In 2019, things had spiraled a bit in the house. I made a couple of posts about this, and how my friend Ange came to visit so I did a big cleanout of the house, and replaced the carpet with new laminate.

It was a huge blessing that I did this, that Ange's visit got me to get my house in order. I put a lot of work into it, and in the end it paid off not only because I wasn't that ashamed of most of my house when Ange was here (I mean, still, the garage was a huge Problem, the bathtub had continued to deteriorate and still wasn't fully painted, and the dining room was still full of STUFF that needed to be sorted and put away when she got here) but it was enough.

Then, you know, 4 months later we all stayed home for a year or two and having a house that was improved and decluttered significantly went a long way towards being OK mentally that year.

Four years on, and some of the things that had been bad had gotten worse. For instance, the 1960's electric wiring. The house once again had more clutter than I was comfortable with, and the tub situation had gotten fucking dire. Also, the cheap, cheap laminate in most of the house from 2008 was really showing its wear... it had not only started separating at the point in the house that got the most traffic, but it had water damage there, and in other places, too.

Things that were bad, like the state of the windows, hadn't gotten better. The kids across the street shot BBs at my garage one day and one went through one of my garage windows (I didn't catch them in the act but I saw them with it a few weeks later. I love those kids, I'm friendly with the family, and at that point I was like IDGAF, tbh.) The patio roof was a few years from falling down from rot. And a whole host of other things I've posted here and some I haven't.

Y'all, I'm aware that I'm damn lucky to own a house, especially in this market. I'm lucky that I was old enough to buy one before prices skyrocketed and I bought one cheap enough (even in 2003 prices) that I ended up not losing it when the housing market exploded in 2007 and I sailed out of that OK when so many others didn't.

I am aware I'm talking about something now that it's ridiculously out of reach for so many people, and that situation is just unbelievably shitty, and I'm sorry for that.

At one point when all these renovations started, a friend of mine, one who is in a lot of the 2004 pictures and was one of the couples who bought their house in 2004 asked me if I would still buy a house knowing everything I went through the first few years, all of the things that have gone so very wrong with this place. All of the ugly things that didn't get fixed for 21 years, and how much money this place would cost me.

At the time, I told them I wish I could go back and tell myself do not buy THIS house. Get a house, just not THIS ONE.

But then, a few hours later I re-thought my decision. There's a few reasons why... even through it all, I'd get this house.

Here's the three most important reasons.

And about a half dozen other cats, and two dogs, that I've rescued and re-homed, or just ferals I've taken care of, because I lived in this house.

I wouldn't have Fry, or Pemily, and I wouldn't have had Patchy (or re-homed her babies) if I didn't live here, because they all came from my backyard. I don't think any of them would have survived, and Pemily probably would have never been born.

I also have good neighbors. We look after each other but also mostly mind our own damn business. We're not in a floodplain, taxes are relatively low. It's a decent place to be, even if all my friends who used to live near me moved farther away except one.

So, yeah.

After 21 years I'd saved enough and in the end when I found someone I liked and trusted and who didn't charge crazy amounts of money (HONESTLY I think Arturo didn't charge me ENOUGH) all of this spiraled from "Well we'd better get the electricity fixed so the house doesn't burn down" to... well... what it is now.

It's starting to wind down. We just need a couple more good days of work and it'll be over, for now.

Hopefully then I'll have time to finish this extremely long story and share all the pictures and all the stuff that's happened, more than I have, and show you what Arturo and I made from what you've seen in all the pictures in the links above, if you looked.

in a brighter timeline, if they did a 3rd movie or just put both scrotes in and pumped out TMNT movies like they have Transformers movies I’d guess Venus, Jennika, Slash, Tokka, Rahzar, whoever were probably whatchamacallit, experimental groups to Splinter & Co.’s ....control group? subjects from different experiments with the ooze before April’s dad went whistleblower. or maybe experiments from the 15 year interval trying to recreate the first lab’s results ‘cuz Sacks would’ve had the resources to recommence pretty fast after the disaster

although to explain Venus and Jennika... since Sacks had ties to the Foot Clan, and Shredder pulled that double cross with Baxter in OotS. what I would guess is that Sacks pulled whatever weight he had left with the Foot Clan (maybe with Karai at the helm in Shredder’s absence) to use their resources for any gaps with his own and as a cover to reconvene his experiments. blah blah Karai studied under Shredder obvi and so probably thought to have the scientists report to her before they report to Sacks. Sacks was kept in the dark, not told they were more or less able to recreate the original lab results on the turtles who’d become Venus’n Jennika. “oh oops they died sacks, sux 4 u try again maybe, here’s some more animals for you.” 

Venus and Jennika are taken in under the Foot once they exhibit the same potential the boys showed; Sacks just goes a little apeshit on the science, as a treat, hence Slash, and then Tokka’n Rahzar and again told they failed. Sacks fully thinks he couldn’t recreate the first lab’s results womp womp u bitch

....how would any of them break out from under the Foot? lol i dunno. uh. mmmmmaybe black market “weapons” dealing-- Venus and Jennika break out (willingly or opportunistically) during shipment to... where? nyc why thefuck not, oh look they end up in chinatown *eyebrow waggle* oh now they’ve stumbled upon a grandpa, maybe his name is Grandpa Chung in the community, I don’t know, and he adopts them surprise! is he blind and therefore just thinks they’re lost kids? blech, does he see two turtles and see an auspicious omen? ehhh hmmm..... I guuuuesssss? or is he just gonna be an example of people doing good things with no prompting because it’s the right fuckin’ thing to do, they’re obviously kids with no guardians, and goddamn we know it’s for the plot but also people are just out here being good to each other guys, it’s real, it happens.

been thinking a lot about surge and my ideas for her.

i have not fully caught up on idw so i don't know what the current arc for her is - BUT here's my two cents:

game versed - loosely follows the idw timeline but hi i'm high-jacking this character now. we can say the zombot arc is canon here since it's what directly lead to starline becoming bitter ex coded and giving birth to surge and kit /j /j fjgkdf

not a cyborg. i.. never vibed with that idea tbh. i more so like the concept of just really fucked up brainwashing + synthetic augmentation serum created from sonic & knuckles' DNA - some real winter soldier type stuff. she always had electronisis, but the chaos radiation she endured from living in a pod for a few months basically upgraded it to fatality level.

starline essentially ripped off the robotnik line of work with his science project (shadow, metal sonic, shadow clones, etc) was inspired by the pods used for shadow to help 'create' surge.

she was a literal nobody. no family or friends, just his scrappy social outcast girl who's always had to fend for herself, making her a pretty easy target for starline with her not having a support system. always kinda looked up to sonic & co - but also never got why they didn't just... kill eggman and get it over with. save the planet enough disasters.

surge is not her real name. starline is the only person who actually knew her real name, and he's fuckin' died bro.

suffers from extreme paranoia and hallucinations. she's got issuessss.

yeah that's about all i got for her. current motive is either kill sonic and take his place, or do what he can't: kill eggman.

when morgane comes for adam’s help… gaaah. 🥲❣️ (the music had me think we’d get les démons 2.0, tbh) best interaction of the ep. and then she backs out because she doesn’t want to be a burden????? sign me up for that sweet sweet angst!!!! 😱 followed by "vous avez pleuré ?"--😭😭😭❤️💔 pfiou, my hearttt ⚰️ we need more of this healthy gut-wrenching stuff, don’t we? Lololol, I love how Céline like... freezes whenever she sees a co-worker presenting unusually. Be it Adam without a beard or Morgane in fancy clothes, it never ceases to amuse me 😅 But yea, Céliane vibes all the way 🤗

Also let's not forget how Adam's eyes were falling out of their sockets when he saw Morgane climbing off the car (in his defense, she does look amazing in his clothes lol), so it's very likely that he really enjoyed that she came to the date in her "bourge coinços V2" outfit, this man probably has a kink and now I can't stop imagining the kind of roleplay they'd be into if they were a couple 🙈

The date was SO fun!!!! I've said this before, but a few months ago I had this idea of a disastrous date fic about them, and I just LOVE that the show went this way, it was just SO them, the out-of-sync-ness, le malaise absolu, "et sinon vous êtes allée au cinéma ?", "Ninja Warrior, c'est japonais ?", somebody puts them out of their misery already 😅😅😅, the fact that they only get their chemistry back as soon as they talk shop... Ranir awkwardly standing in front of the table after bringing the wine (btw, "Ranir, le Languedoc s'il te plaît", is it me or did they imply that Adam knows all of Ranir's wines list? This man takes ONE glass of wine at a housewarming and now he's a patented alcoholic I'm losing my mind here) was HILARIOUS, as was Morgane cheering with him out of despair 😆 Also I can't help thinking that Ranir has seen Adam bring all his dates here, he must bet with himself on how many times he'll see this one again, c'est sa télénovela à lui lol!

And I'm with you on the contrast between the deep connection they share, but also their absolute incompatibility regarding mundane things, that's the kind of stuff we want in this house!! 🥹🥹 The décryptage argument was a great moment too, especially when lit up with Morgane's bad faith (but also Adam's inability to call a date a date lol), ambulant disasters 😅

But also. I love SO MUCH that he tries again. He asked her out on a date, it was a complete mess and it would be easy to give up, but he doesn't. And he asks her out again because he believes in them while I turn into a puddle of goo 🫠🫠

Finally finally, Morgane knocking at Adam's door... 🥹🥹🥹🥹 Gah indeed! Bonus point for the implication that Adam listens to love songs while eating dinner alone 🤣 but the simple fact that she comes to him. And he lets her in without even protesting. And he SEES THAT SHE CRIED AND HE WON'T TAKE HER BULLSHIT ABOUT THE RAIN AND SHE'LL QUIETLY ADMIT IT AH BAH OUAIS EN FAIT IL PLEUT PAS -> we were THIS CLOSE to Morgane openly admitting to him that she cried and ugh, my heart 😭❤️

And then cue the case-solving where Adam BLATANTLY is only thinking about kissing Morgane, and they work her way (🥹) and end up in a post-orgasmic haze (it's been two episodes in a row where the final resolution sounds like they're having/just had sex, just saying) where he ASKS HER OUT AGAIN BE STILL MY BEATING HEART ⚰️⚰️

All of this was such a great scene altogether and I agree with you, we need more of this gut-wrenching angst of Morgane taking bad decisions not to be a burden and actually making things worse 😈 Something tells me 308 will deliver in that regard...😏

I honestly can't wish you a happy finale-watch for reasons that I've mentioned too many times already, but when the time comes I'll be happy to hear your thought if you have any. Stay strong, and see you on the other side anon 😘🫂

I have currently written 67 fics for star wars, 2 for macgyver (2016), 1 original work, 1 for criminal minds, 1 for supernatural and 1 for avatar the last airbender. But i do have a lot more drafts for both star wars and avatar

The force's will - Obi-Wan finds Anakin in his quarters after Ahsoka left. And his life hanging by a thread.

I got you - Padawan Anakin got kidnapped and waits for his master to safe him. He may or may not get tortured too.

Help her - Anakin and Ahsoka get hurt on the battlefield and because Anakin is Anakin he only cares about her safety.

Make it stop - Anakin got kidnapped (yet again) and was tortured for weeks. He just wants it to end.

Protective - Anakin and Ahsoka get caught on a mission and Anakin is the most protective older brother you can imagine.

5 Do you respond to comments?

Yes. To each and every one. Even on old fics, it doesn't matter.

6 What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

That would have to be Too late. I don't really like it but it does have the angstiest ending. I mean almost everyone dies so...

Uhhhh... the best I could think of was Lightning because it is pretty angsty throughout the story but then ends on a happy note. But i don't really know tbh.

Not until now. No.

Uhhh... I would say I can describe rather good. And least in my mouther tongue (not english) I can also write rather poetic which I haven't tried in english so far.

I would say needing a lot of motivation/inspiration to even start and sometimes loosing the thread of my stories when I didn't plan them out beforehand. I also always need something to play in the background, either music, youtube or a tv show wich leads to A LOT of distractions but otherwise it's even worse...

I do like it, as long as there's a translation somewhere. For example in the notes.

Star Wars. Still writing for that fandom today but now I'm shifting around. My username is Multifandom after all so...

20 Favourite fic you have written?

Honestly, one of my yet unpublished ones.

But from the ones online it's Don't ever say that again - Ahsoka keeps Anakin from jumping off a cliff after a hard battle. I sometimes struggle with those kind of thoughts (jumping off a high building and so on) and found that writing about it helps. That's why I have a deeper connection to fics I wrote about it in.

OR it's Visions - Anakin has visions (duh) of someone murdering whole villages, the disaster trio is sent to investigate. Just because I spent SO much time working on it.

So I once had a dream about a teen novel and graphic novel series about Jesper's childhood and teenhood till he got to Ketterdam and. Yes please. I want that so much. His childhood on the Jurda farm with a grieving father, the war in Novyi Zem, learning to hide being Grisha.....

7. What’s something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you like?

I adore any and all depictions of Jesper's ADHD, not gonna lie, especially if it's a close POV from Jesper and the ADHD influences how the narration works. I eat that up with a spoon, and I love it when it works differently to how I depict it bc there's no one true way to narrativize ADHD right

8. What’s something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you despise?

Jesper's often the supporter, caretaker and prize to a more tormented romantic partner and tbh. Ok so I love Jesper most and am super interested in his pain and issues from the get-go so I'm always going to be disappointed with anything that doesn't focus on him. But also, he's a fucking disaster, and as loving and well-intentioned his attempts at caring for his partner are going to be I just will never believe that someone who runs away that much into addiction and crime, and internalizes his father's grief as his own fault, will be just supportive instead of a co-disaster in a relationship

9. Could you be roommates with this character?

We would be room-mates and it would be a dirty disaster bc neither of us would remember how to clean or to pay electricity on time tbh but we'd both feel so guilty we wouldn't complain either

🍫 Who is more likely to steal the other's clothes? What are their favorite items to steal?

They both steal each others clothes pretty equally. Vaughn doesn't so much wear Goro's clothes, but rather he keeps them close by when Goro is away and Vaughn wants something that reminds him of Goro... cos he misses him always. He likes to keep his clothes to smell. :')

Goro likes to wear Vaughn's old tattered t-shirts to bed. Again, he loves the smell of him, so he wears them and just likes knowing that it's Vaughn's clothes he has, cos he feels more close to him. Overly sappy? Sure, but still adorable.

🍿 If they had a movie (or other fiction) couple equivalent, what couple would it be and why?

This took me a minute to think about, and in conclusion, there isn't any fictional couple I can think of, and I have a reason for that! Vaughn and Goro's relationship is so unique and interesting. Their dynamic is one that is incredibly important in their story. They are silly, a little crazy, Vaughn brings this wild and childish side out of Goro, and Goro brings out the more tame and relaxed side of Vaughn, and together they are complete disasters who love each other so much that tbh? They are ones people would say "hey this is the couple equivalent of us!" :D

🤍 What is their favorite or most admired quality in the other?

Goro's is seeing Vaughn going through so much and coming out of it a stronger person. he's seen Vaughn's growth over the course of their relationship and has seen how far he's come, and how much happier he's gotten. He still has his bad moments, but he kicks those bad moments to the ground and doesn't give up hope for a better life. He has Goro to thank for so much of that though.

Vaughn's is Goro's need to communicate when things go ass up. They used to be bad at this in the very beginning of their relationship. Vaughn still struggles with it because of his anxiety, but Goro used to be terrible at communicating when there was a problem. He didn't wanna make Vaughn mad or upset, he just kind of let it go. But over time he has been more open to talking about things and working things out instead of letting it fester, and it usually ends up okay anyway. Now he's teaching Vaughn that it's okay to open up more to the people who care about you.
