rolling my eyes whenever I see the take “if bruce wayne is rich why doesn’t he use his money to help ppl instead” when the whole point is he does and gotham is just THAT fucked up. there’s entire wiki pages dedicated to foundations he created in his parents names. soup kitchens. art programs. medical research. free healthcare & clinics. criminal rehabilitation programs. addresses socioeconomic problems that lead to crime AND helps victims of crime. orphanages. schools. but the problem is no matter how much money u throw at a broken system (a literal cursed city in gothams case) it’s still going to be broken. the politicians are corrupt. the lawyers, the police, the doctors, the justice system. there’s not a part of that city that hasn’t rotted & throw dozens of rogues on top of that? the sad truth is that every single facet of bruce wayne’s life, every waking second as bruce the billionaire or as batman, is dedicated to bettering his city and it’s still not enough

Starting my annual rewatch of Leverage in the wake of the CEO shooting and it stands out that the whole team comes together because IYS denied treatment to Nate’s son.

With no real-life Leverage team, these assholes who play with people’s lives are gonna get targeted another way.

Also particularly relevant right now is the quote from the second episode: “You know the great thing about Congressmen? $50, 100 grand well spent will get one elected. But then, once they're in, the incumbency rate is over 95%! So you can get on an average 18, 20 years use out of one of them. In these uncertain times, buying a United States Congressman is one of the best investments a corporation can make!"

John Rogers and Dean Devlin had it right 18 years ago and the corruption barely bothers to hide anymore.

the whole newjeans situation is extremely sad to see and is a prime example of why minors shouldn’t be in the entertainment industry. all the adults involved are complicit and shady (to say the very least). mhj has an extremely inappropriate relationship with them and other idols she’s worked with in the past. hybe retaliated against them for legal disputes by leaking old videos and their personal information without their consent. they feel isolated and backed into a corner and it’s clear to see why. hoping all the best for them, they deserve better.

How do you feel about the increase in really weird NSFW ads on here (advertising panels that look like sexual encounters, and AI art apps that pride themselves on porn) but will take down NSFW posts from their users, even if it isn't technically sexual.

i hate all social media and it's consistent prioritising the advertisers over the users and the internet simply was a better place before capitalism sunk its hooks into it
