New recipe 2023 - week #19
To get myself out of a cooking rut I am re-challenging myself to cook a new recipe every week!
This was a nice vegan potato curry from a huge vegetarian cookbook that I bought for 50 cents during the pandemic. Hubby liked the spices. We had naan on the side. Next time I'd add some fresh spinach in the end for some more color and veg. 7/10

This week I made black berry cobbler! In the game, you learn this recipe via The Queen of Sauce in Fall of Year two, and it requires Blackberries, Sugar, and Wheat Flour.
This is truly a new fave of mine 😋 I did modify the recipe some, as I've made many a cobbler, but honestly the star of the show was the cinnamon biscuits on top! Flaky and delicious with the perfect crunch to accompany a sweet berry cobbler. Though definitely make sure to have some ice cream on hand to enjoy with this!

Saoirse and Cillian dug their fanciest clothing out of the depths of their wardrobe and head out to the pub to ring in the new year with the rest of Henford on Bagley. Since they're hoping to be parents soon they thought tonight would be the perfect chance to have their last hoorah. Saoirse did still play it safe with mocktails and water all night, though. After making their resolutions they gathered to watch the countdown to midnight and shared their new years kiss.

The Sad Bastard Cookbook (CBR15 #22)
When my brain is cooperating, I enjoy cooking. But as a neurodivergent person who lives by herself and absolutely has no idea what is presently in my refrigerator at any time (yes, even immediately after going to the grocery store) keeping myself fed has always been an interesting challenge that I attempt to hide from the world around me. I also tend to get stuck in eating the same thing over and…

This is based on me and a friend but Velma 100% made the gang set up goodreads profiles and has them do the yearly challenge (to 100 books) together and gets uber competitive about beating them (which she always does, easily)

A gal in my book club mentioned recently reading Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe, and I probably deserve a prize for being so normal and not going on some insane fangirl rant.

Man, I love art. Some people people hear this song and relate to it becuse they view it as a metaphore for being ace/ aro. Which now that I've heard that yeah I can totally see that.
But for me it perfectly reflects my own relationship with alcohol.
I like the song Sugar in my coffee because coffee is something that I haven't tried, but I have the feeling that I wouldn't like it, but also because it feels like a story about asexuality in a way. Like, the guy doesn't like coffee, but meets a "coffee guy" that calls them a child because they says that they are more of a hot chocolate guy themselves. The coffee guy drives the other to his coffee warehouse because surely his coffee will make them change their taste. Before they drinks it the singer is like: Yes, this is it, I'll be able to relate to other people about this and talk about it. They hate it. I don't think I have to explain what my brain understood in this song. (I know that he goes by they/he, but in the song the other is referred only as he, so I only used they to make sure it was easy to undertand who I was talking about every time).
I thought about searching the song in google before posting this and this is the third thing that shows up:

Today I made the Pink Cake! In Stardew Valley, you can learn the recipe from The Queen of Sauce during the summer of your second year. It calls for Melon, Wheat Flour, Sugar, and Egg.
I used the official cookbook for mine 😉 so it's a yellow cake with a watermelon-strawberry jam filling and strawberry-cream cheese frosting. I had so much fun! The jam was tart and chunky while the cake was moist and the icing was like a pleasant strawberry cheesecake. The three elements worked really well together! It was balanced and not overly sweet. I did cut back on the lemon in the recipe as it seemed like quite a lot and added extra dried strawberry to the frosting to enhance the flavor.
If you wanted yours to be as tall as in the game, I would recommend doubling both the cake and icing but you should have plenty of jam.
