I think this is pretty spot on; whenever I see discussion of the economy and economic perceptions, there's always people in the replies going "yeah, but eggs are $8 a dozen" or "why is every middle class family I know foodbanking." And then OP, or someone else, will post data showing egg prices are stable, or that wages have actually been rising faster than inflation, and the person who posted that may even admit that, ok, things are fine for them personally, but not for other people.
And it's always been true that politics is more about attitudes and aesthetics than it is about policy or facts on the ground; but it's rare that attitudes are so divorced from people's actual material circumstances. And while I think there are lots of things contributing to this disconnect, as matter of campaigning, I don't really know how you overcome it.

the problem with landlords is not that they are "lazy" or "useless" the problem is they hoard a resource needed for survival and extort people for access how many times does this need to be said

Not that I think losing crime is bad, but it certainly would be interesting to explore the financial consequences to a massive city like Gotham where crime does pay for half or more (of everything) and drives the local economy, as partly illegal shipping for gangsters also moves legal products to buyers. Or that working for mobsters is stable enough to feed families.
As Batman succeeds and dismantles these power structures and pseudo industries, what happens to the city? Is there even a way to disentangle all of it from the corruption that runs it (seen when Jim Gordon has to hire cops investigated by internal affairs because they've all been investigated).
Would Wayne Enterprises just have to fill in all the gaps? WE shipping, catering, et cetera to replace lost jobs and income? Or would Batman have to reckon with the fact that he can't shut down everything? At least not as bluntly as he does.

So my mum has been a failed entrepreneur my entire life. I don't have a meaningful memory where she hadn't been trying to build a business no one wanted along side it. And while she isn't a Boomer, she is Gen X, I feel like a lot of Gen X'ers are also being thrown into the convo with Boomers. And good. They ought to be. They're not better.
But listening to her talk about finding staff was repulsive. Like, the idea of hiring actual, minimum wage labour, wasn't even on the table.
The two options were
1) outsourcing the labour to Bali because, as she saw, the cost of living there was so low, that she didn't feel the need to pay more than extremely little. And she believe that folk working there would be grateful to earn that much.
Or 2) Making her kids do it, and relying on good natured helping out as the basis for actual labour.
My insight from this is that there is absolutely no empathy going on behind those motivations because the business owner see themselves as worthy of other people's empathy first and foremost.
They are the disgruntled shift employee trying to turn it big. They are the underdog fighting against the system and paving their own way. They are the business owner, taking on all the risk, and they are willing to give someone special the chance to earn something of a wage, and get them in on the ground floor of their exciting business.
There is no sense of developing an internal community; looking out for staff so that the staff will return the favour. The expectation is that the staff deliver up front because the business owner, on a much broader level, deserves it.

I have one sided beef with long-dead US founding father Benjamin Franklin, because he got the label "polymath" on his wikipedia page, since running a printing business back in Ye Old 1700s netted enough money and time to do hundreds of funky little experiments, write a badillion books, and fuck every old woman on both sides of the pond. meanwhile i, a wizard blogger

nice remark about an issue applicable to a large portion of a demographic IDIOT. are you gonna realize its large scale means the source is systemic and get the fuck up and do something about said system or are you gonna treat it like it comes purely from individual fault so you get to feel superior to as many people as possible

I know Sweden gets a lot of praise for being this socialist wonderland but seriously guys we still have capitalism, it still sucks and it especially sucks for anyone who is disabled or has a disabled family member. Yes we have rights and laws, but do you think anyone actually follows them? No, they cost to much money, disabled people are seen as a burden on the economy with nothing to contribute with. They just aren't worth the cost

Why do you live in a shitty apartment? Being a ninja for so many years mean that you should be able to afford some nicer digs don't you think.
Maa...maa...such colourful adjectives would imply that you've actually seen the inside of my apartment - which I highly doubt. Not with my wards. There's nothing wrong with it, it has Mr Ukki in it. Shinobi has no need for excess you know, not when the majority of our time is spent out of the village on missions.
