shoutout to itaru chigasaki for just casually and suddenly revealing that he coped with getting bullied in school by literally kinning his favorite video game character, and then getting to play that same character in an officially licensed stage adaptation of one of the games. and not only that but he and his theater troupe got to work directly with the creator of the series who saw the full play and praised itaru specifically for how good his performance was. like if he was on kin tumblr he would've won so hard forever.

About 100 employees were laid off in total (8%) and one of the main reasons listed is "underperformance," "sharp drop in popularity" and "poor reception of Lightfall."

So you know when for the last year and a half content creators have been shitting and pissing on the game as a full-time job and the amount of negativity and ragebait content became the only thing to make content about for them? Well they certainly won't take the blame, but I will let it be known. These people either don't understand the influence they have or they do and they're doing it on purpose, and I don't know which of these two options is worse, but I am 100% confident that their campaign of rage and hate contributed to this.

You don't base your entire community around constantly hating everything about the only game you play (despite clearly not enjoying it anymore) and somehow avoid galvanising thousands and thousands of people into perceiving the game negatively. Imagine being employees who have barely worked there for 2 years and the only community reception they've seen is 24/7 hate train for their work and then they get fired because of "poor reception" and "drop in popularity." How can they not take that personally? I am absolutely devastated for these people who delievered a banger product and who were met with an unrelenting barrage of toxic gamer children which ended up having more sway over their boss than them.

Which brings me to the next bit and that's FUCK THE CEO. He is now my mortal enemy #1. I am projecting psychic blasts directly into his brain. What an absolute spineless coward who is more willing to bow down to fucking gamers than to protect his own employees. This is absolutely rage inducing because this has happened before. From the article from 2021 about the toxic culture at Bungie:

Reading this shit from the new article absolutely fucking sent me into blind rage because I immediately remembered this. Another instance of employees suffering because of comments on reddit. And because of toxic players. And proof that leadership is not protecting employees and is instead siding with players.

Match made in heaven. Asshole gamer content creators and asshole CEOs, all of whom sit at home on piles of money made from someone else's labour. I hope they all explode. None of the people that worked on this game deserve this.

Bungie’s decision to cut an estimated 100 jobs from its staff of about 1,200 followed dire management warnings earlier this month of a sharp drop in the popularity of its flagship video game Destiny 2. Just two weeks ago, executives at the Sony-owned game developer told employees that revenue was running 45% below projections for the year, according to people who attended the meeting. Chief Executive Officer Pete Parsons pinned the big miss on weak player retention for Destiny 2, which has faced a poor reception since the release of its latest expansion, Lightfall. The next expansion, The Final Shape, was getting good — not great feedback — and management told those present that they planned to push back the release to June 2024 from February, according the people, who asked not to be identified because they weren’t authorized to speak publicly. The additional time would give developers a chance to improve the product. In the meantime, Parsons told staff Bungie would be cutting costs, such as for travel, as well as implementing salary and hiring freezes, the people said. Everyone would have to work together to weather the storm, he said, leaving employees feeling determined to do whatever was needed to get revenue back up. But on Monday morning the news got worse: Dozens of staffers woke up to mysterious 15-minute meetings that had been placed on their calendars, which they soon learned were part of a mass layoff. Look I get it, a lot of us wanted the ShinyDuo 1v1. But let’s be honest, we were never going to get it.

With the nature of the wild cards, there was no guarantee that both would even still be alive by the time they both reached red, and with the chaotic nature of the finale with wild cards overlapping, there was never going to be that moment of peace for them to have a friendly 1v1. Cause even with this being a death game, that’s all it boiled down to was ShinyDuo having a friendly 1v1 while on red, but the nature of this season would never allow for it.

I’ve seen people say that the wild card made the finale disappointing, especially when it comes to Gem. When Gem got out, yes it was to a vex from the wild card, BUT she was not only dealing with the mobs from the wild card but the majority of the server, dead AND alive, going after her.

For the 1v1 to have happened both Gem and Pearl would’ve needed to be in the somewhat peaceful top 8 finale, and even then, I feel that they only would have done it if they were top 5 or even top 3. Cause this is still a competitive series and I don’t believe that either of them would’ve risked going out of the game too early for a friendly match while on red.

I’m just upset that I’ve seen so many people say that Gems finale was disappointing or being upset at Gem and Pearl for not having their 1v1. The thing is though is that it was never promised to us. It was only a potential and never a guarantee. And not having it doesn’t make either of their finales disappointing, in fact I think it makes it better for not having it happened.

My favorite character in Parkour Civilization is EMF by a large margin, the second movie would not have happened if not for him. Although my favorite thing in regards to him is that he was accidental. CC!Evbo mentioned that he was looking for a "guard character" and found this skin and used it without knowing that it was a fellow content creator named TaiMC. It happens, but the reason it makes me laugh is because Tai and ClownPierce know each other, and Evbo and Tai also know a lot of the Lifesteal cast and have made videos with them individually.

The saddest thing is that despite being a very loved member of the cast, I don't think most people know about this or cc!Tai in general. So I'm here to put the record straight.

He has very good content, especially if you like stuff similar to ClownPierce or PVP-SMP content. If you were looking for stuff more like Evbo's scripted content, this is not it. Most of his content is focused on Strength SMP, which is a PVP focus SMP in which you get stronger every time you kill someone. It has a couple mods here and there, so it's not basic maxed-out sword fights.

The only heads up is that EMF and Tai's voices don't match AT ALL.

Like yeah we’re obsessing over someone who we only know by voice but that’s not going to stop us from making copious amounts of art with varying designs that we all somehow Know are of the blorbo and inevitably adding something that has to do with fucked up eyes. So I read webtoons sometimes using the Webtoon app by Naver and someone asked why you have to pay for the next episode and I said something like, "to pay the creators" to which I was swarmed and told that Naver is notorious for barely paying their creators and I should go to their personal pages/Patreons (or whatevers) because that's the only way to really support the creators and everyone knows that and I have some sort of moral responsibility to do so.

To which, no I didn't know that because I'm a casual user, and more importantly, no, I'm not tracking down every webtoon creator I like and paying them personally. Do you not see how that is insane? I'm legally paying for content on a content app, that is enough. How much freaking responsibility do you think a customer is supposed to have? Most of the webtoons I read are translated too, so the sheer amount of effort it would take to find the original author and pay them in their own currency is laughable. Am I supposed to pay the translators too?

And where does it end? Do I need to hunt down every artist I've listened to on Spotify and pay them directly? Because I have a vague idea that Spotify pays horribly too. How about published authors? They only make pennies to the dollar on books, should I go through my bookshelf and send them all personal cheques? Should I make sure that Walmart is paying for it's products properly?

It's not on me. It is not my personal job to fix capitalism or the webtoon app or Spotify. I don't know whose job it is, but it's not mine. We cannot push this much responsibility on consumers who just don't have time.

Ok, I watch a ton of clay creation slash diorama creators on YouTube.

And I really, really need to share three of the most mind blowing artists with you all.

Because I just saw one that completely broke me (affectionate) and realized to be honest I need to show two others before I settle on “Most insane amount of detail imaginable.”

TW: Zombie shark, so dni if either of those concepts are bad for you, but I cannot stress enough how much skill and talent and detail!!!!!!! (spoiler, I’ve never seen this technique with lights before and it’s amazing)
