Mr. Beast pisses me off. This is so fucking depressing. I’ve never watched his content because it seems like just the most twisted pseudo-feel-good stuff you could make, and this is the same. I understand that charity is still charity no matter its framing or motivation, and this will be wonderful for the people who do win $25,000. But I still think I’m not unreasonable for feeling pissed off that one man can post nonchalantly about giving away such an enormous amount of money, “for fun!” and have thousands of financially desperate people falling over themselves to follow and retweet, instead of their doing something else, like going to his house and tying his limbs to four horses and making those four horses gallop away in different directions. Or something.

One thing I think I haven't seen anyone else point out about the Mr beast situation yet is that he is partly to blame for Jake being poor enough to accept being literally tortured for money, like Mr beast was this guy's boss, then he fired him for asking for a fair salary.

If Jake was paid a fair salary from the beginning, he might not even have agreed to the video, much less stuck it out so long.

So the man who built a brand around charity tried to make money off the suffering of someone who is poor bc he underpaid them, and then he didn't even pay the man what he promised, you couldn't make a better metaphor for the hypocrisy of rich men's charity if you tried

its so fascinating to me how every attempt made to make a "squid game in real life" has gone terribly and all of the contestants involved were severely mistreated and the entire thing was really dystopian. Like Girl we warned you. The Show did you watch it.
