2023 was a weird year for Buck. Maybe one of the weirdest years he’s had in his 30 plus years on earth, if he’s being honest with himself. He died, he lived, he delivered a baby that was biologically his but not his in any other way, he pulled most of his team - his family - out of a bridge collapse, and he finally met someone who he can see himself with long term if things keep on their current trajectory.

Natalia is the first woman that Buck’s dated since Abby that makes him feel seen, that makes him feel like a better version of himself. But unlike with Abby, Buck has other people in his life that also make him feel loved and seen, so he’s less dependent on Nat for all of his emotional support. If he’s being honest, he’s kind of avoiding relying on her for too much emotional support since he doesn’t want her to think he’s needy. 

Honestly, for a guy who was dead for just over three minutes four months ago, he’s doing fucking great. 

He’s doing so great that getting a picture of a tiny baby laying on one of those mats with ‘one month’ circled and a gummy little smile wearing a tiny firefighter onesie that he’d given them as a gift, it doesn’t break his heart. In fact, the picture from Connor just makes Buck grin at his phone.

thinking about it and realizing that most of my most prominent OTP’s from the past few years weren’t originally intended to be couples but came about as a result of actor chemistry/improvisation

like, going back to my 2016-2019(ish) Zoo era—Mitch and Jamie only got a romantic storyline after the writers noticed the actors’ chemistry at initial table reads, and they ended up outshining the actual intended main romance between Jackson and Chloe

in Frasier, the only reason Niles and Daphne were written to be love interests is because the actors played off each other so well in a pre-series photo shoot (or so I remember reading somewhere, not 100% sure about this one)

Abby was initially supposed to end up with Stephen on Primeval, but because she had better chemistry with Andrew Lee Potts, the writers decided to pair her up with Connor instead

and obviously Eddie and Chrissy aren’t technically a canon couple (depends on what you consider canon, really), but their first scene together was much more flirtatious than initially intended due to Joseph Quinn and Grace Van Dien’s improvisations, and they ended up being a pretty popular ship as a result

there’s no real point to this, I just found it interesting that I have a sort of pattern when it comes to my favorite TV couples, I guess lol

Hitting the Wearing Pink Bingo Square

When Connor first meets you, it’s in the Emergency Room on Valentine’s Day. You’re wearing a pink mini dress that barely covers your assets and fuck me heels. The left side of your face is smeared with blood, the vessels in your left eye an eruption of tiny starbursts. His heart sinks because there’s been a spate of attacks on working girls recently and he thinks he’s looking at a fresh victim.

He’s both right and wrong.

“Look after her alright?” Antonio Dawson tells him as you’re escorted into the medical bay. “She’s my partner.”

A cop then.

It doesn’t take a genius to work out that you were part of a sting to catch the guy whose been beating the hell out of those women.

“Did you get him?” Connor asks, pulling on a fresh set of latex gloves as you sit on the edge of the hospital bed.

Now that he’s up close, he realises it’s not as bad as he once thought. The blood seems to be coming from a cut above your eyebrow, it’s starting to slow at this point. It’s a big gash, he’ll have to have to stitch it. His work is neat, careful but you’re still going to have a scar, he thinks.

“He was in the ambulance behind me.” You inform him as he tilts your head up towards the light and begins to clean the crimson from your skin. “Trust me, he’s worse off than I am.”

He believes you. He can see the grazes across your knuckles as you flex and unflex your hand. Once he’s finished with the mop up he continues with the rest of his examination. He’s as gentle as he can be, his fingers poking and prodding the bones under and around your eye.

“Nothing’s broken.” He tells you as he draws away and busies himself removing the stitch kit from one of the stainless steel drawers in the corner of the bay. “ I’ll get you stitched up and then grab you something else to get changed into.”

It’s a professional courtesy and a human one. He knows that your night doesn’t end when you leave the hospital, you’ll be heading back to the precinct in order to complete your reports on the assault. He assumes you’d rather not do it in a blood stained mini dress.

“I’d appreciate that.” You tell him softly, looking down at the burgundy stains soaked into the fabric. “Antonio’s probably already waiting with the evidence bags.”

“I’m guessing this all came from the perp.” Connor says gesturing at your clothing.  

“I had a push knife.” You say by way of explanation, your gaze straying to the gap in the curtain. There’s a flurry of activity on the opposite side of the glass, you can see Choi barking orders as they angle the stretcher into the bay beside yours.  “I don’t think he’s coming back from that.”

“It depends where you got him.” Connor remarks as he begins the process of stitching your wound together.

“Neck.” You say quietly. “More than once.”

Connor doesn’t speak, his dark eyebrows furrow in concentration. You both know the guy in the next room probably isn’t going to make it.

“You must think I’m cold, the way I’m talking about killing a man.” You say softly, your gaze lowering to the cuts across your knuckles.

“No.” He says honestly as he finishes up his work, snipping the thread carefully. “I treated some of the other girls he hurt...”

He trails off, his mouth fixing into a grim line. You’re not the only one haunted by those girls, you can tell. You’ve seen the pictures, read the reports. He’s been up close with their pain, endured their suffering, their agony.

“I think you’re incredibly brave putting yourself out there like that, not a lot of people would.” He tells you, stripping off the gloves before tossing them into the medical waste bin.

You can read between the lines, you know what he’s not saying. These victims, they’re on the fringes of society, the people that others don’t give a shit about. He’ll be the first to admit he’s jaded, he didn’t expect the police to actually do anything about the problem, a waste of resources he had overheard one cop saying when he was working on the last girl.

“These women.” You say, shaking your head. “They’re just trying to put food on the table, support their families. They don’t deserve what happened to them.”

When he looks back he realises it’s your compassion that he fell in love with, your ability to see the person underneath all the noise. He sees it over and over again throughout the course of your relationship.

He isn’t sure why he’s replaying the day he met you, he thinks it’s because the fleece pyjamas you’re wearing are the same colour as the dress you were clad in that night. The two of you are tucked up in bed together, your body draped across his like a weighted blanket. His palms smooth over your clothing as he holds you close, breathing in the scent of your shampoo. He had never envisioned that it would end up like this, that the woman he met that night would become the one that devoted himself to, the one that he wants to spend the rest of his life with.

if any of you have been on the wilbur x reader side of tumblr, you may be familiar with the nickname.

this was an account that was known to interact with and write nsfw from time to time, but then got outed for being a minor and not actually 19.

this account was me.

before i explain anything i’d just like to say that i won’t be saying excuses such as “i’m only a kid” because i should have known better. and i know much better now.

this account was the start of several problems in regards to me online. i had started a tumblr because i have a passion for writing, and it is one of my coping mechanisms, meaning it helps me cope with traumatic things in my life mostly.

during the time i had started the account i was going through realization that i had been sexually assaulted and manipulated by an ex of mine. i’ve been through quite a bit of sexual related trauma such as being groomed, manipulated and pushed/forced into doing or sending things.

i had fallen to the point mentally where i felt like i was nothing but a body for someone to find satisfaction with, and so i put myself up to those standards. i had struggled with a porn addiction for months on end, something i still find myself struggling with to this day.

the videos i was watching had made me believe i filled the hole that was in my brain, when in reality it was making everything so much worse.

the videos has turned into writing, starting on wattpad after i came across a fanfic that included smut, to which i read and realized that maybe that would help me more.

it got horrible. to the point i’d ignore friends texts to read it or even did it in school. and eventually.. i had found tumblr.

originally me and my best friend just downloaded the app so we could read fanfics together, sharing our favorite ones throughout the months and what not. until i discover the nsfw side of the content i was engaging in.

my interest has peaked, making me fall into a hole of constant reading, scrolling, and liking anything involving nsfw.

after a few months i had decided to start writing for myself, coming up with the sirenbrainrot tagline and becoming a writer.

i was extremely proud of the fact i had gained quite a big following, even making the character “churchboy” and ended up writing nsfw for him as well.

it wasn’t until i heavily started interacting with abby’s nsfw account that things had completely gone downhill.

it was not and never will be my place to interact with nsfw/adult spaces, and i fully take responsibility for the people i’ve upset and those who i’ve harmed because of my actions.

i was known as 🧠 anon on that account, often providing nsfw content and character ai bots. i was maybe one of the people who interacted with her work the most.

it wasn’t until i had gotten into personal contact with connor that i opened up about my age. he truly made me realized how fucked up and horrible the entire thing is, leading me to apologize to abby personally.

she had blocked me and posted about it, and i do not blame her. i was a minor disguised as an adult, gaining people’s trust just to break down a wall of horrible lies.

after this i discussed with a friend on what to do, ultimately quitting the account and starting this one, phxntomsdusk.

i took a bit of time to myself to think over everything i’ve done because of my own selfish behavior.

i hurt people, i invaded personal spaces, and most importantly i could have gotten several adults into legitimate legal trouble.

i know it’s bad to blame everything on my trauma, but in reality i was a person who was struggling with sexual assault, self harming thought due to it, and didn’t know any other way to fill the spot that would help me the most.

instead of doing the mature thing and speaking out about my struggles, i did a horrible thing and took advantage of people’s trust.

for the record i do not interact with or read nsfw anymore. im still struggling with videos but that is a different thing im working on separately.

for the nsfw i admitted to reading, that is because i worry for my older cousin. his mom doesn’t tolerate this stuff, and speaking with her privately has concluded he will most likely be deleting that account and not posting anymore nsfw so further situations such as this don’t happen.

again i’m sorry for those i have harmed with my actions in the past, i truly am trying to change and be a better person while bettering myself.
