Alien Staged hot take/frustrated take of the day:

This fandom does so much queer and gender con-conforming erasure that I hesitate to say the fandom is an ally in any way despite the show's contents.

Till’s “All-in” cover & Round 7 parallels

Something I’ve told myself since yesterday is if Till is truly to die in Round 7, “wouldn’t the team go all-in? Why did they not?” & That line of thought brought to mind Hyuna’s All-in song lol… but then Till’s cover of All-in came to mind because of that… & then the I remembered the tape on that song’s cover art, exactly where Till’s wound is in Round 7….

One thing to also note about the song is its clear themes of rebellion and going against all odds, & how even if victory seems slim to some, the resistance will push back against the cheers of the aliens.

“Step all over me but I'll rise again It's you who's in the wrong, bet you had no idea”

Of course this lyric showcases that too, but what I’ve seen theorised is that the last line of the lyric (amongst a few others in the song too) could also be referencing Luka as well (due to Luka’s potential role in Hyuna’s personal life)

Generally who is chosen for which cover doesn’t SPECIFICALLY reference their canonical standing. But changes are made to the delivery of the lyrics to fit each characters and their dynamics and positions. Thus I do find it interesting that a song like this was chosen for Till.

Even the cover image almost directly references Till’s position in Round 7! Plus it’s interesting that a song that references rebellion and resistance against the aliens’ expectation as they are cheering, a song that potentially references Luka’s methods, also aligns with Till’s position in Round 7!

The aliens are cheering against him towards the end of the round, they’ve voted for Luka’s win, stepping all over his ambitions and being.

(Note: the purple glow sticks, the aliens’ cheering isn‘t in support of Till, but rather against him)

Additionally, Till was able to break away from Luka’s impact on him in the last moment (because he saw Mizi), he proved Luka’s tried and tested method wrong

Perhaps the cover carries a greater relevance to Till’s role in the final round?

Even if it seems that by this point “There's no point fighting back”, he’s lost, he’s done for - his rebellion has been snuffed out, perhaps even in such a bleak moment, Till’s resistance will “rise” above the attempts to step over him.

“I'll create a fantasy in this crazy world And change it all, I'm going all-in”

If it means to survive and see his ambitions be realised, he’ll go all-in, even if hope seems bleak in that last moment, even if he’s been trampled on.

Which thus brings us back to the tape covering where his wound is, and thus blocking him from bleeding out (like the aliens would want cuz he’s lost).

To be fair, Shine is better than other guardians cuz she's a good pet owner, she treats humans as creatures that need care and love just as much as how in real life, actual pet owners who know how hard taking care of your pets are due to their complex biology and natures

It's dehumanizing to us that she sees her humans as precious pets but they're more like her children, similar to how pet owners call their pets as their kids, though there are differences, taking care of a pet and taking care of a baby requires similar skills and have the same hardships

You can argue that Shine's love towards her humans are abusive in a way since it's similar to helicopter parenting but again she's not a Human so she probably doesn't understand how harmful it is, she might think she's doing a good job cuz she doesn't abuse her humans and actually let them have freedom

Mizi's tragedy was not that she has a loving alien mother, but that she lived in such a good caring family that when she's sent out there cuz she wants to explore the world and spread love, she gets hit with the cruel reality, she couldn't comprehend what she had was Heaven compared to others of her species, it's like a girl who left her perfect home and get fucked over cuz the world isn't kind to anyone

I like to think that maybe Shine does know how bad the pet human system is, but instead of teaching it to her humans, she allowed them to learn it themselves cuz I can imagine even if she tried to communicate it to Mizi, Mizi probably thought "It's fine, I can do it!" Plus if it comes from an alien who's directly responsible for the dehumanization, it wouldn't work that well, I rather they learn it themselves, hell her pet humans might think she's restricting their freedom, it's really a complicated situation and with the fact that she's a transcendental immortal, it's possible that she sees this human slavery issue as another passing thing, maybe this wasn't the first time this happens with these aliens or Shine's species, so Shine thinks that it's not her job to be the Humans' savior, it's their job, I don't think it's that bad that she doesn't involve herself even if she knows it's bad, to a creature that has seen it all, this is probably nothing to her so she left it to her humans, she won't stop but she won't directly help, yes Shine being an observer in all of this might be terrible but then again, everyone should know that aliens or any other species are not tied by our morals or any moral at all, NOT EVERYTHING IS OBLIGED TO DO THE RIGHT THING

To be fair, one seeing Shine as evil cuz she just does nothing even though it's not damaging her in any way and she probably doesn't even get the entire thing, it's like yelling at an ant cuz it bites you even though it clearly doesn't know, will not comprehend or think about your feelings at all, IT'S NATURE, still though I do hate ants when they bite me, really itchy

But I DO LOVE SHINE, honestly lady is a Saint compared to basically any other aliens in this show, I love this fanart so much, baby Luka is better with Shine, than that weird ugly ass fucker Heperu

This is why Alien Stage is a masterpiece, it nails how aliens don't have to be "species we should kill", they're species just like any species that have ever existed on this world

Alien Stage brings up this issue that I always have, is someone a bad creature just because they can't see the bad things they're doing? Should Shine be killed because she's just another one of those evil aliens that harm humans, I believe aliens and humans can live peacefully together, Shine's species seem to be into that, they don't see any difference with humans even though humans are like ants to them but I can't say about the rest of the other species, even Hyuna's guardian, Phan is from a species that literally doesn't give a shit about humans or the human entertainment thing, so yeah that's another diverse aspect

I NEED TO YAP ABOUT ALIEN MOM CUZ SHE REMINDS ME OF MY MUSE OC (not from Alien Stage) WHO IS SUPER SIMILAR TO HER ALMOST LIKE A EQUIVALENT AND SHE'S PINK TOO

Interestingly, I don't think Shine is a helicopter parent! Because Alnst gives us an actual helicopter parent to compare to —

Shine hasn't shown signs of being controlling with Mizi, in fact it's the opposite. If you look at any of Mizi's or Shine's materials, it's consistently only Mizi's will that shows up, not Shine's.

They seem to spoil Mizi rather which can be its own problematic parenting trait, but Mizi doesn't let it go to her head and I'd like to think Shine is so willing to give her whatever she wants because she doesn't let it go to her head.

The only time we ever see a hint of Shine's own will is:

"A very old and divine being conceived you to me" and "They feel great affection and interest in humans so they adopted Mizi"

"They always sit closest to the stage to cheer her on"

Even Mizi's adoption isn't something Shine does of their own initiative. It's a request from another entity and Shine accepted due to their affection and interest in Mizi.

Absolutely the feeling of being doted on by the entire family species.

Tbh I've always seen Shine as a little clumsy but trying their hardest (probably read up allll of those how to take care of your pet-human manuals when she was first adopted) because of Mizi's glasses, which are the wrong prescription.

The glasses were probably the right perscription the first time but never got updated as her eyes got worse because it just slips their mind in the deep sea. Well-meaning but clumsy.

It's interesting just how telling the characters' moods are just by looking at their eyes alone

Sua is passive, and distant, seemingly in a daydream. Ivan is stoic but resolved, Till has an angry sort of look, and Mizi looks determined

But something that I find even more interesting, Is that Sua, Ivan and Till are all their past selves. The people they were minutes before their respective rounds. but Mizi is the only one in her present form. is this because she was the first to make it out of Alien stage? or is this because she will be the only one to make it out of Alien stage at the end of it all? Just a thought.

Hi! Not sure where you’re getting this information, Peter Lukas (I looked up his name) was born in 1970 and therefore would have been three years old when James Wright became Head of the Institute.

I did find something weird though. Apparently according to gossip at the time, Jonah Magnus had quite a close relationship with Mordecai Lukas??? Peter Lukas’ great-grandfather?????

Fe Aspec Week Day 2: Friendship

An indulgent piece for today!!!! :') It's no secret the trio's friendship has always had a really special place in my heart, and I've been grateful for the taste of acceptance and contentment it brought me during (and long after) I played the game. To see them find the most caring and complete friendship in each other was truly inspiring.

I've been thinking about alien stage and milgram so

All in (Hyuna and Till) but it's with Kotoko and Fuuta

OOHH I've been going crazy over this -- I've only touched on Milgram/Alien Stage aus a bit but now I'm hooked 👀 I was playing around for a while with how to incorporate the song specifically, and had a ton of fun with this lyric/scene experiment, haha! I was shocked at how well the song would suit them even in Milgram canon... I used gender neutral descriptions for the Mizi-character because I'm not sure who people would picture for that role, and wanted to leave it open. Also um. tw major character death :( sorry.

Your eyes grow wide at my dazzling entrance, and your heart beats fast, OK! There's no point fighting back – this is the march of the fools.

The rebel leader stands proudly on the stage. Her followers practically howl at her arrival. Their gathering spot may have been a secret, but they didn’t bother being quiet about their excitement. The tides are turning, and everyone feels it. It doesn’t matter what kind of front the aliens put up; everyone knows the fear that their leader strikes into her enemies. Every planet, moon, and ship knows what she’s capable of. They know that going up against her brass knuckles will only have one outcome for them. No matter the cost, Yuzuriha Kotoko will come out on top.

Endless cheer and applause – I hear the song grow louder and louder. Fill up the entire nebula!

The contestant brings his guitar down with all the force he can muster, sparks flying out and scorching his hands. The audience roars at the display. He’s tired of all those eyes watching him, but at least he’s making them all watch as he destroys some little piece of them. For now, they only find morbid curiosity in his fruitless rage, but someday he’ll sing loud enough, act loud enough, scream loud enough that the galaxy will be forced to hear him. To alien and human alike, the face of Kajiyama Fuuta is an icon of rebellion.

Kotoko’s boot cracks bones on impact. It wasn’t even her steel leg that had rendered her enemy into this mess. The alleyway is too hidden and the neon city street too distracted for anyone to hear the alien’s final cries at her feet. Her team catches up with her, breathless with exertion and shock at the victim she leaves in her wake. As soon as she holds up what they came here to get, all doubt leaves them. Their ship will echo with celebration tonight.

We only get one life, so I'm living mine for me, cause I'm the one from your wildest dreams. I'll create a fantasy in this crazy world and change it all, I'm going all-in. 

“Ha-ha –!” Fuuta hasn’t heard himself laugh in a long time. It isn’t a pleasant sound, and neither is the chaos that follows as the fight escalates. But damn, did it feel good. The lights of the paparazzi blind him as he’s yanked out of a magnetic train car. The crowd deafens him. The aliens around him bruise and break him down. But he holds tight to the things deep in his mind. He imagines himself as a shining hero. He thinks of them – his own hero. He conjures up a world that’s better for both of them. It’s for this reason he wrenches his arm away from those holding him back. Though his collar buzzes with electricity, he takes another swing.

A universe brimming with dreams… Who will remain standing at the end of it all? Don't you wanna know? Caught within rules without rules, a bird is set free. I hear the song grow louder, fill up the entire nebula!

As the glass shatters around her, Kotoko can’t help but savor the moment suspended in the air. Given her many escapes over the years, she hadn’t been worried about making it out in one piece. And yet her heart races each time she tastes freedom again. She lands on her feet, pausing to make sure her newest recruit is keeping up. Kotoko flashes a wide, toothy smile at them, and they return it shakily. They seem a bit shaken by all the blood that had been spilled on the way, but Kotoko is proud of how quickly they’ve adapted to this liberated lifestyle. She’s riding the thrill of success, knowing she’s changed the outcome of Alien Stage once again. Another weak human saved from their captors. Another victory.

Smoke chokes Fuuta’s lungs, but it doesn’t hold him back. The private dinner room is full of the rich and powerful as they eat, smoke, and laugh at humans’ expense. They place bets on the upcoming competition rounds. They harass Fuuta to perform for them, eyes of all shapes and colors boring into him. Through the haze and dim lights, the spark of resistance is burning as bright as always. He dares to talk back at a figure who is not used to being talked back to. Fuuta dodges a few strikes, even getting in a few kicks of his own before he’s overwhelmed with a blow to his right eye.

Kotoko tries to hide her snarl at the massive advertisement screens they pass. Even flying by at these speeds, she gets a clear look at the Alien Stage champion and his coy smile. It churns her stomach. She had always wondered why any contestant would willingly stand up there and sing, knowing it would get someone else killed. They were complicit in murder, if you asked her. But this man – his actions were far more than “complicit.” The face of a tiny girl flashes through her mind. For a moment, she’s lost in a vision of the girl by her side – still laughing, still carefree in the world that Kotoko is working towards. Reality returns to her. She discharges her weapon directly into an alien’s face.

Every obstacle in my way, I've crushed them all. Step all over me but I'll rise again. It's you who's in the wrong, bet you had no idea.

The lights go up, and Fuuta sways on his feet. He finds himself instantly winded as he starts to sing. The heat from the show’s pyrotechnics make him even dizzier. His good eye surveys the crowd. He would not let these villains win. They took the people he cared about. They took the people who cared about him. Hell, they even took his guitar. He knows that by the end, they’ll take his life, too. It’s all the more reason to continue. He sees now that his intensity had inspired others, even if it hadn’t saved them. Fuuta refuses to go down quietly. He refuses to stop singing. He opens his mouth:

“Hey!”

Kotoko shouts it after the new recruit, but their mind is made up. She’s left clutching at her injury and frantically typing on the huge machine, trying to complete their original mission. The screen streaming the event flashes with images of the redhead pouring his heart out onstage. Kotoko lets out a strangled sound of frustration and stands to follow.

Blood pools around the losing contestant. All that shouting and he can’t even choke out a goodbye, now. The intruder stands in the one place she spent her life fighting tooth and nail to escape forever. They lock eyes. They’d only heard accounts of the other, but in that brief moment, they understand. They are just two humans, two loud humans, who had a vision of how bright the universe could be someday. Despite it all, they both ended up here, doomed to die on this stage after singing out to an uncaring audience. Fuuta’s gaze slips away. He offers one last smile to his hero. For the first and last time, he is content.  Kotoko turns her attention away from them, to the audience. She clenches her fists and feels very far from content.

Gender-Changing Costume

Okay I had this idea while reading a genderfluid Adrien fic and I need to get it onto paper (well a tumblr post) so!

What if for people whose gender fluctuates would have their costume change representative of their gender that day? Because we know that their costume's represent who they are deep down, but what about the people see themself as something different everyday?

For example, what if a genderfluid Adrien is Chat Noir with his basic costume most of the time, but sometimes when she's feeling more feminine, her costume leans more like Kitty Noire or Lady Noire's costume

Or a bigender Marinette that switches between her basic costume and a more androgenous one for the days he's feelings less feminine

Or better yet! What about a gender non-confirming Luka who's costume switches between masculine, feminine, and androgenous every time they transform!

Okay so I may possibly make a few designs for my rewrite that follows this idea even though I'm probably gonna hate myself for it
