Scary Sunset.
I'm concepting things way outta order in this story, but I'm sure you can piece things together. Context is for a storybeat where, after defeating and capturing Adagio (thus having all three sirens in her possession), Sunset enacts her revenge plot to release the sirens on Canterlot as Thea discovers she's been manipulated. In a confrontation, the two scuffle and fight over the siren orbs while Sunset struggles with her conflicting wants and emotions.
#mlp#sunset shimmer#twilight sparkle#twiset#the orbs are the glass balls sunset carries on her back btw its in her cast line up art#deep down sunset hates thea. she was named âtwilightâ by celestia. the time of day succeeding sunset. she was always her replacement#but at this point in the story sunset's also fallen for thea. so it's also a conflict of wills in sunset. love or hatred.#hence the âdon't make me do thisâ language. she's rationalizing her hatred and violence as thea forcing her hand and getting in her way#when in reality she doesn't need to do any of this. it's her last stand and outburst to cling to a life of revenge that she's grown too#fond of. because she knows thea has the power to change that and disrupt her identity as a pathetic victim who fell from glory#and that's scary. thea's a very scary thing to sunset because suddenly sunset wants something and to be someone new.#she suddenly wants to change. to be better for someone else. and she never thought or believed that could be an option for her#anyways toxic yuri yayyy#my art#the grand galloping 20s#character design#i hope i got across the pained conflicted emotions in sunset's face tho i belabored over them these past 3 days#i hope a look of anger and dissonance and guilt and âoh god i don't really wanna hurt you please just obey meâ while trying to intimidate#is readable. if so it's all in the eyebrows babey

The thing is, it's not about the Therapy Speak. It's not that everyone who disliked DAV hates healthy communication as a dynamic in fiction. It's not even about only being allowed to be a good guy, really, because most of us did do that anyways (though the option not being there is a loss I grieve even if I never chose it myself, but that's another rant for another day).
It's that DAV does all that stuff at the expense of being believable. At the expense of characters being permitted to have personalities. At the expense of emotions behaving the way emotions actually work for people. At the expense of letting the plot build tension through the stakes we're forced to grapple with.
Half the fics out there take the conflicts between the characters in the previous games and resolve them. I do it myself ALL THE TIME because I like to find a path to resolution through just about any conflict, that's what fascinates me about telling these stories. But the higher the stakes, the harder a conflict is to resolve. You CAN resolve any conflict, you CAN communicate healthily through any emotion, but you can't skip the time it takes to process it all to even be able to communicate it. As someone whose got CPTSD and recovered from many Traumas, I can tell you that the TIME it takes to work through it is not something you can fast track, and the ups and downs of your emotions on that journey can't be skipped. It doesn't matter if you know exactly how to do it, exactly how it's going to feel, or exactly what the end state will be, you CAN'T speedrun it.
DAV has stakes that are astronomical, but nobody treats them that way. Nobody experiences denial - a common psychological reaction to being presented with information that shatters your worldview. Nobody expresses any distrust in the establishments handing out this information - something common among cultures that have at times been at war, even if those wars are "resolved" in the present. Nobody really ever breaks down - something that any person is capable of under extreme circumstances, especially when facing multiple crises of faith that challenge everything they thought they knew about themselves. Nobody blows their lid because they've been repressing the hell out of everything. Nobody grieves for southern Thedas, the entire thing dying off screen and giving you, the player, NO way to engage with it in any way.
Not to mention there are barely any inter-party conflicts, when there should be a lot more. Why is everyone (except Spite) fine with it if Emmrich sacrifices Manfred to become a lich? Why is everyone fine with Illario potentially being set free if he was working with the venatori and Elgar'nan, two sources that have actively attacked everyone in the party? Why doesn't Neve resent Lucanis if Treviso is picked? Why doesn't Harding get pissed off at Nevarra for having a secret society of liches that never helped during the Inquisition's war against the breach and corypheus? Why doesn't Harding feel ANYTHING about Ferelden and the rest of the south? Shouldn't Harding resent the fact that she's stuck in the north while her home dies?
All of these conflicts ARE resolvable, but not easily. And it's not believable that they're never brought up. It's not believable that these characters skip through everything that happens with like, barely a frowny face most of the time. In DAO, Alistair leaves if you don't treat his conflicts with respect. In DA2, your party members try to kill each other if you don't pay attention to their conflicts/emotional needs. In DAI, people can leave or betray you, Cassandra throws a chair at Varric and tries to body him out a window. ALL of these can be resolved but it takes effort, and the characters get to SHOW that they're bothered by them and struggling the way a person would when faced with those emotions.
The problem isn't the therapy speak, or that everyone is loyal and won't leave, or that they aren't mean to each other enough. It's that it's toxic positivity. It's toxic as fuck to imply that anger or grief should be smiled over or else you're giving up, and it's damaging to people to avoid engaging with their own negative emotional responses to extremely negative stimuli. It's pasting optimism over very real, very weighty issues, sweeping it all under the rug, and you keep waiting for the lid to blow off the pressure cooker that creates, but it never does. It never becomes anything that emulates real emotions, which is why the whole damn thing feels hollow. Everything's dying and nobody cares, not even about themselves, and that's NOT healthy communication.
It's bullshit, half-assed storytelling that didn't tell us the actual story, just the vague idea of what it could have been.
#zombolouge writes#dragon age#dragon age spoilers#DAV#DAV Spoilers#DAV critical#veilguard critical#been rolling this one around in my head for a while because I know it wasn't âhealthy communicationâ that was pissing me off#I write healthy communication all the goddamn time and people seem to enjoy it#but I also treat the trauma and the problems with fucking respect#ignoring your negative emotions is a form of self-destruction#it's just not how psychology works#and this is indeed not even addressing all the lore conflicts that they want us to think got fixed in the last ten years off screen#or the erasure of the complicated parts of some of the factions *cough the Crows cough*#but like JUST as a baseline JUST the emotional handling of the narrative is wack as fuck

Okay, so we know that Charles' polo goes red>burgundy>black and back by the end of the season.
Because there's so much going on, I always missed the exact transitions. This time I specifically tracked them down. (Apologies if this has already been done.)
Charles shirt is bright red through the majority of the Devlin House, even in Hope's Diary scene, when he opens up to Crystal.
Even when he first swings at Mr. Devlin and gets knocked back, his shirt is red.
The very subtle shift to burgundy is after he disappears and first reappears in the loop.
It remains burgundy throughout the entire lighthouse leapers episode and beginning of the two dead dragons.
I finally realized the very last moment we see of Charles in the burgundy is with Crystal. She tells him after the confusing makeout night, "But I think we should be friends," and kind-hearted Charles, of course, respects that and puts on a friendly smile.
It's difficult to see in the next scene with him because of his jacket, the angle he sits at on the ladder, and the lighting, but it's immediately after that when we first see him in the black polo.
My brother in death, you are NOT doing well.
here's another song from Jayden Revri's official Charles playlist, that I think is about this conflict with Crystal:
His shirt is still black during the "I don't wanna be a bad guy" scene.
After Edwin's affirmation of Charles' inherent goodness, it is directly after this scene that the shirt goes back to burgundy!!!
He's still wearing the burgundy during the confession:
BUT IT GOES BACK TO BRIGHT RED LITERALLY RIGHT AFTER EDWIN'S CONFESSION AND THEY ESCAPE HELL TOGETHER!
Yo I equally love Cryland and Payneland but the show canonly said "Crystal hit him in the loneliness and Edwin hit him in the loved"

HEYYYYYYY if I can may I ask for Aventurine, Sunday and Dan Hang protecting reader when they get badly injured protecting them please ( Iâve been desperate for some angst and comfort recently with them đđ )
âIf I Fall, Let It Be for Youâ
Tags: Aventurine x Reader, Sunday x Reader, Dan Heng x Reader, Hurt/Comfort, Angst, Protectiveness, Sacrifice, Vulnerability, Emotional Conflict, Guilt, Platonic or Romantic Love, Selflessness, Inner Struggles.
Warnings: Graphic injury, Blood, Violence, Desperation, Guilt, Emotional distress, Death-related themes.
A/N: Hope you like this!! đ«Ł
The battlefield stretched before you, a blur of smoke and chaos. You had acted on instinctâthrowing yourself in front of Dan Heng to block a strike meant for him. The blade tore through your side, pain radiating through your body as you stumbled.
â[Name]!â Dan Hengâs voice, usually so calm and composed, cracked as he caught you in his arms. His eyes widened, a rare display of emotion breaking through his stoic mask.
You gave him a weak smile, your hand clutching the bleeding wound. âYouâre safe. Thatâs all that matters.â
His jaw tightened, and his grip on you was firm yet trembling. âYou should never have done that.â There was an edge to his voice, sharp and laden with guilt.
You tried to speak, but the pain was overwhelming. Darkness crept at the edges of your vision, and you felt yourself fading.
âStay with me,â Dan Heng ordered, his voice softer now but no less desperate. He cradled you closer, his usually steady hands pressing against your wound to stem the bleeding. âYou canât leave me. Not like this.â
He carried you swiftly to a safe spot behind the ruins, shielding you from the chaos. His spear, Cloud-Piercer, stood guard nearby, its sharp tip still dripping with the blood of your enemies. Dan Heng tore a strip of fabric from his coat, fashioning a makeshift bandage to stop the bleeding.
âWhy?â he asked quietly, his gaze fixed on your pale face. âWhy would you put yourself in harmâs way for me?â
You managed a weak chuckle despite the pain. âBecause I care about you, Dan Heng. Even if you keep pushing people away, I wonât stop protecting you.â
His breath hitched, and for a moment, his usual reserve cracked. âI donât deserve it. Not after everything Iâve done⊠everything Iâve failed to prevent.â
âYouâre wrong,â you whispered, your hand reaching up to brush against his cheek. âYouâre worth it to me.â
Dan Hengâs eyes softened, guilt and sorrow mingling with something deeperâsomething he had tried so hard to suppress. He didnât speak, but his actions spoke volumes. He leaned into your touch, his fingers brushing your hair as if trying to commit every detail of you to memory.
âI wonât let anything happen to you,â he promised, his voice low but resolute. âNot again.â
Dan Heng stayed by your side, his spear within reach, ready to defend you from any further threat. The battle raged on around you, but his focus never wavered. He wasnât just protecting you nowâhe was protecting the fragile hope you had given him, the chance for something beyond the weight of his past.
And in his quiet way, Dan Heng vowed to repay the trust you had shown him, no matter the cost.
The echoes of the gunfire still reverberated in the empty corridors, a cruel reminder of the chaos that had just unfolded. Aventurine stood frozen for a moment, the world around him slowing to a crawl. The usually confident smirk plastered on his face had vanished, replaced by a rare expression of raw, unfiltered fear.
You lay crumpled on the ground, your blood pooling beneath you. You had thrown yourself in front of him, a human shield against the sniper's bullet that had been meant for his chest.
âWhy?â Aventurine whispered, his voice trembling as he knelt beside you, his gloved hands hesitating before pressing against your wound. His pristine, gold-adorned sleeves soaked in crimson as he tried to stem the bleeding. "You absolute fool. What were you thinking?"
Your eyes fluttered open, a weak smile playing on your lips despite the pain. "Because I knew you'd never let yourself be hit," you murmured, your voice barely above a whisper. "You're too important... too smart to take risks like that."
Aventurine let out a bitter laugh, one that sounded more like a sob. "And yet here you are, bleeding out because of me," he muttered, his tone laced with guilt and frustration. "You're supposed to stay out of the crossfire, not throw yourself into it like some kind of martyr."
The mask he wore so effortlessly in high-stakes games and political negotiations shattered in that moment. He was no longer the composed strategist, the man who always had a plan. He was just Kakavashaâterrified, helpless, and desperate to keep you alive.
âStay with me,â he commanded, his voice shaking as he pulled out his communicator and barked orders for immediate medical assistance. âYou donât get to leave like this. Not here, not now.â
Your hand weakly reached up, brushing against his cheek. "I trust you, Aventurine," you whispered, your voice faltering. "You'll fix this... you always do."
His eyes shimmered with unshed tears as he pressed his forehead against yours. "Iâm a gambler, not a miracle worker," he admitted softly, his usual bravado nowhere to be found. "But if thereâs one thing I never bet against... itâs you."
The minutes felt like hours as he stayed by your side, murmuring reassurances that neither of you believed. His mind raced, calculating odds and outcomes, but none of his usual strategies could guarantee your survival. For the first time in years, Aventurine felt powerless.
When the medics finally arrived, he refused to leave your side, riding with you to the emergency unit despite their protests. As the doors closed behind them and the sterile lights flickered above, Aventurine made a silent vow.
No matter the cost, he would ensure you lived to see another gamble, another day by his side. Because without you, even victory would feel like defeat.
The clash of blades and the sound of explosions filled the air, but Sundayâs focus was solely on you. The two of you had been ambushed, and though he had held his ground, one stray attacker had slipped through his defenses, aiming for his unprotected flank.
You hadnât hesitated. Youâd stepped in without thinking, intercepting the blow meant for him. Now, you lay slumped against a ruined wall, clutching your side as blood seeped through your fingers.
âWhy... why would you do that?â Sunday asked, his voice trembling as he knelt beside you. His eyes, usually so calm and composed, were wide with panic. He pressed his hands over yours, trying to stop the bleeding. The glow of his halo seemed dimmer, as if it mirrored the dread coursing through him.
âYou needed protecting,â you gasped, a weak smile crossing your lips. âThatâs what friends do, right?â
âFoolish,â Sunday whispered, his tone a mixture of frustration and anguish. "I am the one who should be protecting you." He gently brushed a strand of hair from your face, his gloved hands trembling. âYou shouldnât have to suffer because of me.â
Your hand reached for his, squeezing weakly. "Youâre worth it."
Sundayâs breath hitched, and for a moment, his dignified mask crumbled. "No one is worth losing you," he admitted, his voice barely audible. âNot even me.â
The world around the two of you seemed to fade away as Sunday focused solely on keeping you conscious. He whispered soft reassurances, his usually formal tone replaced with a raw, desperate plea. âStay with me,â he urged. âIâll fix this. I swear it.â
Using his limited healing abilities, Sunday poured his energy into stabilizing you. The effort left him visibly drained, his face pale and his breaths labored, but he refused to stop. "Iâve seen too much suffering," he murmured, more to himself than to you. "I wonât allow it to claim you."
As reinforcements arrived and medical aid was administered, Sunday stood by your side, his presence a steady anchor amidst the chaos. When you were finally safe, he let out a shaky breath, brushing his thumb across your knuckles.
"You risked yourself for me," he said quietly, his eyes softening. âBut know this: I will never allow you to come to harm again. You are too precious to lose.â
In that moment, you saw a side of Sunday he rarely revealedâa man burdened by the weight of his ideals, yet willing to fight against them for the sake of someone he cherished.

âStanley wouldnât actually be that nice to Fiddlefordâ âStan wouldnât treat Fidds any better than Ford didâ WRONG u guys have no vision unlike me and I am exploding your dimension to liberate you so you see the stars (yaoi). Stan wouldnât be nice to Fiddleford⊠at first. He would be too wrapped up in his guilt over accidentally pushing Ford into the portal to and preoccupied with getting him back, his defenses are already up from years on the run and he would assume that Fiddleford thinks as little of his intelligence as Ford does. He would be snapping and boorish and difficult to work with, but one day when Fidds gets fed up and begins to angrily storm off, wondering aloud why heâs even there, putting so much time and effort into rescuing someone who wouldnât have to be rescued if heâd just listened to him in the first place, Stan throws himself in front of the door and begs him to stay and help him save his brother and opens up about their relationship in a panic, and the two warily wind up bonding over their respective complicated feelings about this person who they both deeply resent and desperately miss. And Fidds isnât bad company, for a hippie, and itâs been so long since Stan has had anyone to talk to at all. And then, when Stan had to cook up a last minute scheme to get them out of some Gravity Falls monster shenanigans, Fidds actually called him brilliant. This guy is a riot! Blah blah getting stoned karaoke night as a euphemism etc etc⊠but in the harsh light of day it all begins to make sense. Heâs just a cheap copy of Stanford to Fiddleford, thatâs the role heâs played his entire life, and when he tries to call Fiddleford out on this, Fiddleford does call him stupid. And pigheaded. And⊠courageous? And creative? And caring?? And one-of-a-kind??? And⊠a good brother????

"i hate davepeta they ruined davesprite's character arc!!" mfw the character burdened with their identity finds freedom and joy in allowing themselves to become a different person rather than remaining trapped as a "bargain bin" facsimile of their ideal self
#like this shit is deeply transgender its kinda crazy to miss that#i agree that it could have been handled with more grace but this is just such a poopoo not thought through take#and i see it every day#neotxt#tfw the character who struggles with masculinity and vulnerability gets to be androgynous and vibrantly emotional#like its right there yall đ#its follow through on an emotional conflict that basically every single homestuck character goes through#yeah davepeta is a different character but your bird guy is still in there bro#believe it or not he is fully participating in davepeta's cringe#because dave IS cringe#Always has been.

Inspired by that one episode in Young Justice.
â
"You could leave with me," 'Gray' nods at him, there is the familiar, mischievous smile. Yet the sincerely in which he offers his hand, it reflects in his eyes.
Danny reflects back on his life, staring at his partner, how Freakshow had gotten him into this Circus in the first place.
"Where would we go?" He relents, grasping the offered hand to hold it simply. The weight of the appendage is calming for his racing heart.
'Gray' softens, leaning against him. Their outfifsâ tight on their bodies, colourful for the eyes of the people. Ruffles, dark and gooey to fit the theme of the circus, showing more skin than comfortableâ it was home.
After so long, it had become home and Danny isn't sure if he could leave it.
(Is that how Freakshow never lost any workers even after his staff broke? Did they become dependent on him just as he has?)
"Everywhere." His performance partner replies, reassures with his presence and Danny soaks it in.

can i request boothill, aventurine, and jing yuan with a jealous gender neutral reader? every time the jealousy tag is added to a fic, itâs always for the character and leaves me wondering what the opposite would be like. feel free to delete if youâve written something like this before and thank you for your service to the hsr community đ«Ą
Jealousy, Jealousy
Tags: Boothill x Reader, Aventurine x Reader, Jing Yuan x Reader, Jealousy, Emotional Conflict, Fluff with Minor Angst, Romantic Tension, Hurt/Comfort, Established Relationship, Protective Partner, Light Humor (?).
Warnings: Mild jealousy and insecurity themes, Brief mentions of violence or conflict(?), Emotional vulnerability, Slight suggestive undertones (Aventurine's part).
A/N: Totally get you because there's not many fics out there where Reader is the ONE who's jealous đ«Ł, I did the opposite one where the characters were jealous so this my first time writing where the Reader is jealous. Hope you love it!
The smoky haze of the cantina mingled with the scent of leather and gunpowder, a typical night for Boothill. The Galaxy Ranger leaned against the bar, his mechanical fingers tracing the rim of a half-full glass of whiskey. You stood nearby, trying to keep your composure as a strangerâa suave-looking gunslingerâsidled up to Boothill with a sly grin.
âYouâve got quite the reputation,â the stranger drawled, tipping their hat. âA sharpshooter like you mustâve broken a few hearts.â
Boothill chuckled, showing his shark-like teeth. âNah, hearts ainât my target. Bullets donât play favorites.â
The stranger laughed and leaned closer, their words drowned out by the raucous music, but their intentions were crystal clear. Your chest tightened as you watched Boothillâs sharp eyes glint with amusement.
âHey,â you interrupted, your voice steady but laced with irritation. âBoothill, arenât you forgetting something?â
He turned to you, eyebrow raised. âWhatâs that, partner?â
âThat Iâm the only one who gets to sit that close to you.â you said firmly, crossing your arms.
Boothillâs grin widened as he pushed the stranger back with a mechanical hand. âWell, ainât that somethinâ? Looks like Iâm already claimed.â He stood, draping his arm around your shoulders. âGuess youâll have to find another cowboy to sweet-talk.â
The stranger huffed and walked off, leaving you and Boothill alone. He leaned closer, his voice soft and teasing. âDidnât know you were the jealous type, sugar.â
You jabbed a finger at his chest. âMaybe if you werenât so charming, I wouldnât have to be.â
Boothill laughed, his voice rich and warm. âDonât you worry. Youâre the only one whoâs got a claim on this gunslinger.â
The roulette wheel spun, its clinking sound echoing through the luxurious casino. Aventurine stood at the center of attention, effortlessly charming the crowd with his flamboyant gestures and glittering smile. His eyes glinted as he placed another bet, drawing cheers from his admirers.
You stood on the sidelines, your jaw clenched as a particularly bold admirer leaned over, whispering something in his ear. Aventurineâs laughter rang out, smooth and melodious, but it only fueled the fire simmering within you.
You strode forward, catching his wrist just as he reached for another stack of chips. âHaving fun?â you asked, your tone sharp enough to slice through his entourage's chatter.
Aventurine blinked, then grinned, clearly amused by your sudden intrusion. âAh, my lucky charm,â he said, pulling you closer. âJealous, are we?â
âMaybe I wouldnât be if you werenât flirting with half the casino.â you shot back, narrowing your eyes.
He raised an eyebrow, his expression equal parts playful and sincere. âNow, now. You know thereâs only one person Iâm truly invested in.â
âThen maybe show it more often,â you muttered, glancing at the crowd still watching him with longing gazes.
Aventurine chuckled and leaned in, his voice dropping to a whisper. âIf it helps, I only play games I know Iâll win. And with you, darling, the jackpotâs already mine.â
You rolled your eyes but couldnât suppress the smile tugging at your lips. Aventurineâs charm was infuriatingly effective, and he knew it.
The sun filtered through the branches of the garden, casting dappled shadows on the stone pathway. Jing Yuan reclined on a bench, his eyes half-lidded as he enjoyed the rare moment of peace. You approached quietly, only to pause as you spotted a young soldier eagerly engaging him in conversation.
âYouâre so wise, General,â the soldier gushed. âItâs no wonder everyone looks up to you.â
Jing Yuan chuckled, his deep voice smooth as silk. âWisdom comes with age, and age comes with its own set of burdens.â
The soldier blushed, clearly enamored. Your hands curled into fists as jealousy bubbled up. Jing Yuan noticed your approach, his gaze softening. âAh, there you are,â he said, waving you over. âCome, join us.â
The soldier glanced at you but didnât move, still lingering too close for comfort. You stepped forward, meeting Jing Yuanâs gaze with a pointed look. âAm I interrupting something?â
âNot at all,â he replied, patting the bench beside him. âWe were just discussing the importance of patience in leadership.â
âI see,â you said, your voice cool. âWell, I hope the lesson was enlightening.â
The soldier finally took the hint and excused themselves, leaving you and Jing Yuan alone. He tilted his head, studying you with a knowing smile. âYou seemed⊠displeased.â
âMaybe I donât like sharing.â you admitted, crossing your arms.
Jing Yuan reached out, taking your hand in his. âYou have nothing to worry about. My heart belongs to you, and no amount of flattery will change that.â
You sighed, feeling the tension drain away as his thumb brushed against your knuckles. âYouâre lucky youâre so convincing.â
He chuckled, pulling you closer. âAnd youâre lucky I find your jealousy endearing.â
