What’s holding you back? Whether you’re facing a lack of growth or progress in sobriety, your career, relationships, or mental stability it can be super frustrating to feel stuck. Even worse than feeling stuck, I know that sometimes I feel like I have to fight and struggle to meet any goal I set for myself. In the past I have used this frustration as an excuse to drink, wallow in self pity, or fall into a cycle of defeatism. Today, in sobriety, I can look at myself and my life a little more honestly. I can genuinely ask myself: ~What can I do differently? ~Is there more I can be doing? ~Where is my focus at? ~Am I making excuses? ~What can I control in this situation? ~Am I practicing acceptance where it’s needed? More often than not the reality is I want the most results from bare minimum effort. Which to be fair is only human I think. So rather than beating myself up, I step up and start putting the work in. Often times we’re our own worst critic, but that doesn’t always have to be a bad thing. We know ourselves better than anyone else, so let’s use that to our advantage for once! In September 2017 the @bouldercreativecollective had their fall show FLIP which featured art addressing social change. This was the first public FLIP wall encouraging people to express “what flips them off?”. During the month of the exhibit I posted on social media. People started reaching out asking if they could come and participate. One of those people was @phoebessage , a 16 year old activist, who as a freshman in high school, petitioned asking SeaWorld to end orca shows in all their parks. Since then, California has passed a law prohibiting orca breeding and SeaWorld is supposed to end its orca shows in Florida and Texas this year. Phoebe, @gretathunberg and all the young people who took to the streets yesterday across the world, are youth that cares deeply for our environment, wildlife and the greater good of our planet. These young people have no choice but to do whatever they can to raise awareness for imminent change. The UN climate summit begins this week. I wasn’t ready to commit suicide but came close unintentionally when I lost my. A lance and my grip as it dangled precariously over my head. At best it would have been emergency coming out to get me. We are grateful that there were not much damages after the TD. However, the authorities, NEMO or whoever responsible for this ovava tree, needs to come cut down the #brokenbranch before it falls on someone or vehicles and cause serious injuries, death or damages. I would assume that is what the tax payers paid responsible Agent/contractors/department - whoever, would do immeadiately after a storm wind passing through.
