he’s asking if you’re a communist, Robin.

Interesting phenomenon: an actor named Borys Khmelnytskyi, born in Ussuriysk, near China (the favourite place of communists to exile Ukrainians to), lived in Kyiv, studied in Lviv, played in Taras Bulba, photographed in vyshyvanka... is named "russian actor" in all possible internet sources! Moreover, his biography is surprisingly short and clean for someone who played Robin Hood and was, in general, very popular.
On the picture above: a scene from "Ivanhoe," Borys Khmelnytskyi as Robin Hood on the left, and Romualds Ancāns (Latvian) as Richard the Lionheart on the right.

Shout out to @propertyofkylar for giving me the idea to do this
Li's from most to least likely to be a communist >:)
Sydney, Robin, Whitney, Alex, Eden, Avery
Kylar depends on PCs political leaning
Whitney just wants chaos and to take down the rich
Kylar only wants what his love wants
Robin is on the fence about it but would become a communist
Sydney is a full believer and would kill for the cause
Alex only cares if it affects him
Avery is the biggest capitalist pig, also a union buster
Eden doesn't give a fuck, he lives in the woods

that post you reblogged a while ago (about steve just getting super artsy, heavy on metaphors movies w zero effort but still not liking them) is canon to me now but i just died thinking about how that knowledge would destroy jonathan's entire sense of self. it would ruin him and that would be so funny for me personally.
lol Robin mentions Steve having banned Godard films from movie night and jon makes some comment like "what? too much for him?"
"nah. he just hates them. says everyone's an asshole and even if that's the point he'd like to have at least someone to like if he's watching two hours of existentialism, internal critique of the American film industry and audience complacency, and fourth wall breaking communist theory. So, no Godard but Varda is allowed if you really want a French New Wave film. She does women better anyways."
and jon just blue screens because what? how does Steve know that? And he has to grapple with the fact Steve has watched more than one Godard film to ban them, and understands enough of what it's saying to be annoyed by how it's presented. He needs to sit down.
Steve doesn't even remember the guys name he just calls him "that annoy pretentious french director" which. Thanks for narrowing it down Steve! (Robin knows who he means though)

You are such a creative person. I have almost finished all of "plant a seed" and the way you've written the characters and their thoughts and manurism is just *chef's kiss* dreamy.
Also, your droplets from the Steddie dad life brightens my day.
THANK YOU!!! Holy moly you are too sweet.
This series and this community have definitely been a bright spot in my life and I'm always so happy to hear that it's doing the same for other folks too <3
Have a double post today for being such a lovely soul
(in the form of a deleted flashback from plant a seed)
In retrospect, signing Robbie up for karate classes might have been a mistake.
Perhaps the bigger mistake, though, was signing the five-year-old up for karate classes a month before Robin and Nancy came over for their annual ironic watch of WWE’s Wrestlemania, or so Steve ponders as he watches Robbie swing her fists in Moe’s direction.
Moe, their ever-unshakable seven-year-old, is unfazed.
“Robbie,” Steve warns her. Robbie ignores him and aims several more punches at Moe, “Amelia Robin, we talked about this.”
“I wanna wrestle!” Robbie whines, crossing her arms and stomping a sneaker-clad foot so her shoe lit up.
“You can’t just start swinging at people and call it wrestling.”
Robbie glares at him for a moment, clearly weighing her desire to exercise whatever she’s learning in karate with the consequences it would come with. She uncrosses her arms and closes her fists, looking at them thoughtfully. As Robbie fidgets with her fingers, Steve knows what’s coming, and when she eventually unfolds one of the middle ones, he just stares at her, eyebrows raised.
“Stairs,” he finally says, tipping his head in the direction of the designated ‘time-out’ spot at the bottom of the stairs.
As Robbie is trudging over to the stairs and plopping herself down on the bottom step, Eddie walks into the living room. He gets one look at his daughter pouting in time-out and says, “How? We’ve been home for five minutes?”
“She flipped Papa the bird,” Moe supplies.
“Which I blame you for, by the way,” Steve adds, giving his husband a pointed look, “Since you’re the one with the bright idea to teach that shit to them.”
Eddie feigns a bow, then points at Robbie.
“Not cool, girlie. We had a deal, did we not? No more making me look bad in front of Papa?”
Robbie shrugs, but behind the wall of curls she let fall in front of her face, Steve could just barely see the way her pout was turning into a smile, even against her will.
Eddie turned to face Steve again.
“Moe was sent to the principal’s office today,” he said.
“Why?” Steve asked.
“Well, according to her teacher, she shared her crackers with her friend during snack time, which apparently means she has to share with the whole class.”
Steve furrowed his eyebrows.
“Yeah, I dunno,” Eddie shook his head, “But according to her, Moe said ‘no, I’m seven, and this is the real world, not Communist Russia.’”
“And her teacher didn’t like that?” Steve asked sarcastically.
“No, she did not,” he replied, “And she really didn’t like when I said that I don’t think she’s wrong.”
“Another banner day for the Harrington family."

Unpopular opinion but I don't trust Melania. I truly believe she is using her husband for money and fame. And call me old fashioned, but the first lady should be a role model to young women and someone with a porn star past isn't capable of being that. I am NOT saying Michelle Obama was a good role model or anything either, but we can do better. First ladies used to have more class
Melania was a fashion/glamour model not anything to do with porn, the job does include being nude from time to time but it's not really in the control of the model and if they want to keep working sometimes it's what you gotta do unless you have the name recognition of the big supermodels.
And even they do the nude thing if they feel like it, source Robin Thicke's Good Times video.
Side note the Weird Al parody of that one (word crimes) occasionally pops into my head when I'm typing and helps me remember some of the rules of writing and such.
She came from a very modest background in what was still Yugoslavia and managed to catch the eye of some big names while successfully trying to make a name for herself.
Which she did as we all know.
Which in turn made her a whole lot of money, so she doesn't really need Trump for that, be why she signed the Pre-Nup without reservations.
She speaks Slovenian, English, French, Italian, and German fluently albeit with an accent, I can barely manage English some days.
She has a extensive list of accomplishments, has proven to be very smart and capable on her own and as first lady.
There's noting concrete about any degrees but it's pretty clear she's a smart woman given all the other accomplishments.
She was born in a communist country and made her way to the US and managed to wind up the 2nd foreign born first lady in US history.
So she's got some tasteful modeling shots where she's nude, it's not like she worked as a porn actress or even did lewd photoshoots.
Or are we going to call all this porn too?
She's an accomplished woman who made a big name for herself before meeting Trump and none of the stuff she did as a model is anything for her to be ashamed of at all.
My lifelong democrat dad can't stand trump and wants him locked up for both real and perceived crimes, but the only thin negative he could ever come up with for Melania is questioning her judgment when it comes to picking a partner.
Maybe we should go back to the Nancy Reagan "throat goat" jokes instead.

hi robin!! do you think george would still be as politically passionate by the events of bitb and would Ralph share communist/far left views? especially curious given the famine that the british government caused in india during this era. thanks!!
Oh absolutely! I’m super interested in Noor Inayat Khan - it’s impossible to think about George as a British Indian WW2 spy and not think about her - and one thing I found fascinating when I was reading about her was the way she was outspoken about being both British and Indian. She believed in the future of a free India but was also willing to be part of the British war effort - it initially made the SoE nervous but she managed to persuade them that she could be loyal to both countries.
I think that George holds similar views - he hates what the British are doing in India, but also feels that it is worth allying with them to help defeat Nazism. I do suspect that post WW2 he would become more closely tied to the Indian independence movement - but that’s all years in the future and not something I’ve thought about fully yet!

last book i read : The Communist Manifesto by Engels and Marx. it was over a month ago but i’ve been feeling weird so i haven’t been able to actually finish a book since then.
a book i recommend : Ocean Vuong’s On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous, my favorite book. it’s so beautiful. everyone should read it.
a book i couldn’t put down : so many! i’d say Thistlefoot by GennaRose Nethercott, an absolutely amazing book exploring collective and generational trauma through the presence of ghosts while also being sometimes funny and lesbian. it’s so good i read it aloud to my mother then offered it to my grandparents. as well as Stone Butch Blues by Leslie Feinberg, which opened entire new paths for me.
a book i’ve read twice : so many books but let’s say Anne Carson’s Antigonick. one of my favourite ancient greek play translations/retellings.
a book on my tbr : Aristophanes’ plays. i don’t like comedies so i keep procrastinating, but i really need to read them at some point.
a book i’ve put down : The Hera of Zeus : Intimate Enemy, Ultimate Spouse even though i absolutely loved it, because i borrowed it at the uni library and then had to give it back before finishing it. and now said library is closed for the summer. but also some other academic books that are interesting but too tiring to read right now.
a book on my wishlist : @nicosraf’s Angels and Man - i absolutely loved the first book, it’s incredible, it’s one of my favorite queer books, but i still haven’t found the time and money to buy the second one.
a favourite book from childhood : a french book collection on ancient greek myths called Saga of [Hero’s name] : greek mythology in 100 episodes. The ones on Odysseus and Theseus are the very first books on greek myths that i remember reading, when i was about 5 or 6.
a book you would give to a friend : Gideon the Ninth from The Locked Tomb by Tamsyn Muir. this is so good. lesbian necromantic science fiction, absolutely hilarious but also tragic. i should probably have put it as the book i reread because i read it exactly 4 times in 6 months (and did the same with the two following books. before writing a analysis document on it.)
a book of poetry/lyrics you own : Anne Carson’s translation of Sappho’s poetry, If not, Winter. and Ocean Vuong’s two poetry books, Time is a Mother and Night Sky With Exit Wounds. as well as Richard Siken’s Crush. or Baudelaire’s Les Fleurs du Mal, the first poetry book that i enjoyed. all amazing works!
a non-fiction book you own : Eros the Bittersweet by Anne Carson (lots of Anne Carson here. maybe i have an obsession), an exploration of love in ancient greece. i read mostly pdfs of non fiction books or i borrow them from the library.
currently reading : too many books…. Lucan’s Pharsalia, Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer, The Hundred Years’ War on Palestine by Rashid Khalidi, a french translation and commentary of Catullus’ poems, multiple retellings of ancient plays,…
planning on reading next : the Iliad! i really want to reread it, i keep thinking about it. the first time i read it it only took me 3 days but this time i want to annotate it. also, Female Masculinity by J. Jack Halberstam. and multiple academic books about Antigone.
tagging : @hiemihymni @olympianbutch @khaire-traveler but no pressure!

I’m sending you some next gen ships!
Scorbus (Scorpius Malfoy/Albus Severus Potter), Rosphia (Sophia Barclay/Rose Granger-Weasley), Yolly (Polly Chapman/Yann Fredericks), Crames (Craig Bowker Jr./James Sirius Potter), Nienice (Janice Pepper/Nienna Robins), Trinique (Trinity Lynn/Dominique Weasley), Lorgo (Hugo Granger-Weasley/Lorcan Scamander) and Roxody (Melody Fawley/Roxanne Weasley).
These are all canon characters btw. No OC’s in this one.
thank you very much for the ask, anon!
scorpius malfoy/albus severus potter
which also got a shoutout of its own from another mystery anon:
yes, this slaps.
but - crucially - not because it brings up any latent longings and regrets on harry and draco's part.
[i remain committed to finding drarry only mildly interesting at best, and that's because the girlies are - as is their right - completely delulu about its plausibility...]
but because the concept of harry and draco being forced to interact awkwardly with each other for the rest of their lives is funny.
as is the idea of harry going home from dropping albus off at king's cross thinking that he absolutely smashed the parenting moment of dealing with his insecurity about being in slytherin by telling him to just ask the hat to put him in gryffindor... only to discover ten hours later that albus had immediately forgotten it the minute he heard scorpius had a racing broom.
[scorpius and either rose or hugo, though... immaculate generational repercussions. ron and draco are sneaking out of the engagement party for hate sex, one hundred percent.]
hugo granger-weasley/lorcan scamander
if you ever meet a tory voter under the age of forty, nine times out of ten they are the child of the sort of crunchy, lib-dem-voting, soft leftist who likes morris dancing and lentils. similarly, the most ardent young communists you meet will usually turn out to have been educated at £60,000p/a boarding schools, know at least one minor royal, and have parents who like grouse shooting and have strong opinions about argentina.
lorcan scamander, on the basis of this principle, is the most middle-of-the-road man imaginable. he loves cardigans and putting money in his savings account and feeling faintly embarrassed whenever he has to explain that his parents live in a commune.
he's the perfect son-in-law. ron and hermione love him.
all the rest of these

Maaaaaaan I am not having good luck coming up with frame ideas this season. RWG, save me!
Like a performer warframe? Some kind of violent thespian? Sounds like a frame we'd earn from Bombastine.
wha-a-a-at no-o-o a warframe would ne-e-e-eve-e-e-er attack a-a-a-any-y-y-ybo-o-o-ody-y-y-y
RWG it is much too early for you to be getting horny on me.
WHY ARE YOU LIKE THIS
An Evoker warframe... now that I can work with. I'm thinking a sort of warlock style frame, each ability can be used either as a buff/debuff (tap) or as a helper summon (hold) but the two become mutually exclusive, so if you activate the buff it dismisses the summon and if you summon it dispells the buff. I am actually liking the sound of this a lot! Thanks RWG, now please don't be horny again!
I. SAID. DON'T. BE. HORNY.
Communist (affectionate)
Robin Hood is the only thing already on the list but thanks.
Oh I almost forgot about Mira because I'm holding onto her until I can afford art comissions because I want to take her seriously.

This would be funnier if prominent Tankie men on this site, such as pissvortex, brendanicus/yuri-alexeygaybitch, and archeocommunologist/sober-communist, didn't have such long histories of thinking their leftist politics makes them immune from being misogynistic.
Far from confined to them, misogyny in Leftist movements has a long history. Indeed, much of Second Wave Feminism was driven by women who were frustrated with their sexism of male leaders of the male leftists leaders of 60's and 70's. For example?
Revolutionary movements, often preaching violence and imbued with machismo, lend themselves easily to chauvinism. Andreas Baader, who formed an eponymous West German terrorist organization in 1970 with feminist journalist Ulrike Meinhof, spoke of all women as “cunts.” Like Baader, who would be remembered solely as a criminal had he not adopted a revolutionary political agenda to justify his gang’s murder and bombing spree, the leaders of the Black Panther Party preached a more equitable world while subjugating the women in their midst. The party newspaper railed against abortion as “a victory for the oppressive ruling class who will use [abortion] to kill off Black and other oppressed people before they are born,” and the birth control pill as “another type of genocide that the power structure has poured into the Black community.” It once expelled a member for terminating a pregnancy, and according to historian Kate Coleman, the group “punished rank-and-file females for even minor ‘infractions’ by turning them out as prostitutes.” In his memoir Soul on Ice, Panther “Minister of Information” Eldridge Cleaver wrote of how he viewed rape as an “insurrectionary act.” After he “practiced” on black women, he moved onto white ones, as “it delighted me that I was defying and trampling upon the white man's law, upon his system of values, and that I was defiling his women.” Panther Party co-founder and “Minister of Defense” Huey Newton talked a good game when it came to female equality, publishing a letter in the party newspaper reproving sexism (and homophobia) and declaring “we recognize the women’s right to be free.” Yet Newton authorized the beating of the woman who managed the Panther Liberation School after she reprimanded a male colleague. Oh, and he murdered a 17-year-old prostitute because she referred to him as “baby.” ... As long as there has been misogyny on the left, women feminists have fought it. In 1970 -- the same year Andreas Baader founded his revolutionary cell and Leonard Bernstein was introducing Upper East Side society matrons to the Black Panthers – the feminist writer Robin Morgan wrote a groundbreaking essay entitled, “Goodbye to All That.” Taking on “the good guys who think they know what ‘Women’s Lib,’ as they so chummily call it, is all about – and who then proceed to degrade and destroy women by almost everything they say and do,” Morgan wrote that, “it hurts to understand that at Woodstock or Altamont a woman could be declared uptight or a poor sport if she didn’t want to be raped.” She attacked the Weathermen, the American analogue to Baader-Meinhof, “with the Stanley Kowalski image and theory of free sexuality but practice of sex on demand for males,” and the patriarchal attitudes prevalent among New Left organizations more broadly, waving “goodbye to the dream that being in the leadership collective will get you anything but gonorrhea.” 47 years later, her critique could be applied to Harvey Weinstein, who earnestly seemed to believe, at least in his initial apology, that a series of random liberal bromides condemning Donald Trump and the NRA immunized him from the charge of sexism.
