My advice for getting a job in botany or horticulture is to start small, something like a nursery or an arboretum or a groundskeeping job, and make lots and lots of friends. Talk to the truck drivers and your coworkers and your bosses and the customers. If you’re in a college or university environment, make friends with the professors. Ask lots of questions, show interest and initiative. The green industry can be a bit cliquey, and the more connections you have, the sooner you hear about job opportunities. And: most laboratory jobs require at least some schooling, but community colleges have excellent programs for all ages. Good luck!
^^ This for sure. the job i had full time until I quit, i got as a student in college and stayed on when i graduated.
my general impressions are that if you want a family or high stability, commercial ag is the way to go; there's higher pay and better benefits, especially if you're in the breeding side putting stuff into spreadsheets or working in a lab etc. if you care less about that and want a stable job that doesn't pay as much but might have just as good benefits, government jobs and regulation work tends to skew in that direction. and if you want to full on follow your dreams you can do academia, but your immediate future will rely more on grants and stuff you have to continuously push for, rather than just clocking in to a 9 to 5; this means that you also are subject to other pressures like needing to produce more papers in things you might be less interested in, etc.

Hino Motors, a subsidiary of Toyota that manufactures commercial trucks, has agreed to plead guilty to a federal charge of a multi-year criminal conspiracy to fraudulently evade state and federal emissions standards. It's part of an umbrella settlement that also resolves civil claims brought by federal regulators and the state of California. The company is paying a total of $1.6 billion in fines and penalties, including the second-largest criminal fine the Environmental Protection Agency has ever leveled for vehicle-based Clean Air Act violations. According to complaints filed by regulators, the fraud involved more than 100,000 heavy-duty diesel trucks and off-road diesel engines. The vehicles did not pass state and federal emissions standards — but Hino submitted false data claiming they did.

EPA will grant California the right to ban sales of new gas cars by 2035. (Washington Post)
Excerpt from this Washington Post story:
The Environmental Protection Agency plans to grant California permission to set stronger climate rules for cars and SUVs — a move that President-elect Donald Trump could attempt to reverse — according to two people briefed on the matter.
The EPA intends to issue California a waiver as soon as next week to enforce its rule aimed at banning sales of new gasoline-powered cars in the state by 2035, said the two people, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to comment publicly. The Trump administration will probably try to revoke the waiver, although those efforts could run into legal obstacles.
The EPA plan underscores how President Joe Biden is racing to Trump-proof his climate legacy before leaving office next month. Just this week, his administration moved to block new mining in a sensitive watershed and to ban two cancer-causing chemicals used in a variety of consumer products and industrial settings.
Under the Clean Air Act, California can receive a waiver from the EPA to set tougher vehicle emissions rules than those of the federal government. More than a dozen other states follow California’s stricter rules, collectively accounting for about 40 percent of the U.S. auto market.
The California Air Resources Board, the top air pollution regulator in the state, approved a rule in 2022 that would phase out sales of new gasoline-powered cars and SUVs, culminating in a ban by 2035. The EPA in March finalized its own rule that would require automakers to more gradually ramp up EV sales while slashing emissions from gas-powered models.
California has requested a total of eight waivers to enforce climate regulations — not only for cars but also for heavy-duty trucks, trains and commercial harbor craft. It is unclear whether the EPA plans to issue other waivers in addition to the one for cars, the two people said.
Environmentalists have vowed to challenge the Trump administration’s possible waiver revocation in court, just as they did during Trump’s first term.
“There’s no provision in the Clean Air Act that says you can revoke a waiver. There are lots of provisions that say you may not grant a waiver if you choose not to,” said Dan Becker, director of the Center for Biological Diversity’s Safe Climate Transport Campaign. “So see you in court, Mr. Trump.”
Ann Carlson, who recently served as chief counsel to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, said it would be difficult for the incoming administration to revoke the waiver, because it stands to help California comply with federal air pollution standards.
“Is the EPA going to say you can’t set standards to come into compliance with our own pollution rules? That puts the EPA on shaky legal ground,” said Carlson, a professor of environmental law at the University of California at Los Angeles.

Truck Driver Day
Professional truck drivers are honored and celebrated today with Truck Driver Day. In the United States, a driver is considered to be a truck driver when their vehicle has a gross vehicle weight—the weight of the vehicle loaded—of at least 26,000 pounds. They must obtain a commercial driver's license (CDL) to drive a vehicle of this weight. Employers often require their drivers to take a safety training program, and some also require a high school degree or GED.
Truck drivers carry all kinds of freight—livestock, food, canned goods, liquids, packages, and vehicles—all across the United States and the world. They often have to load and unload their freight and must inspect their trucks before taking to the road. Truck drivers often ship products to stores, and some may have to undertake sales duties. Many truck drivers work long hours. Some may have daily local routes that keep them close to home, while others may have routes and schedules that often change, and many have to be away from home for an extended amount of time.
Some trucks were on the road in the United States prior to World War I. Trucks continued to be used and developed during the war, and by 1920 there were more than a million trucks on the roads of America. Trucking continued to expand over the following decade, on account of advancements such as the introduction of the diesel engine, improved rural roads, the introduction of power brakes and steering, and the standardization of truck and trailer sizes. In the 1930s, a number of trucking regulations were implemented, and the American Trucking Association was created. Trucking activity increased in the 1950s and '60s, in large part because of the creation of the Interstate Highway System. Regulations on the weight of trucks continued to be updated.
The heyday of the truck driver came in the 1960s and '70s. At the time, a wide swath of the public viewed truck drivers as modern-day cowboys or outlaws. The rise of "trucker culture" was signaled with the proliferation of trucker songs and films, the wearing of plaid shirts and trucker hats by the public, and the wide use of CB radios and CB slang. The romanticization of trucker culture subsided by the dawn of the 1980s.
Many truckers went on strike during the energy crises of 1973 and 1979, after the cost of fuel rose. The Motor Carrier Act of 1980 partially deregulated the industry. As a result, many new trucking companies were started. Trucker union membership also drastically declined, leading to lower pay. But the deregulation did reduce consumer costs, and it increased production and competition in the trucking industry. By the twenty-first century, trucking dominated the freight industry. In 2006, there were 26 million trucks on America's roads, which hauled about 70 percent of the country's freight. Truckers continue to play a prominent role in keeping the wheels of the economy turning, and for the hard work they put in to make this happen, they are honored and celebrated today!
How to Observe Truck Driver Day
Some ideas of ways the day could be spent include:
If you are a truck driver, get out there and drive! Or, take the day off. It should be up to you!
Wave to truckers or make a gesture like you are pulling a truck horn in an attempt to get them to honk their horns.
Thank a truck driver. Tell them thanks in person or make a social media post of thanks. Include the hashtag #TruckDriverDay.
Become a truck driver.
Listen to some truck driving songs such as "Convoy" and "Truck Drivin' Man."
Watch some truck driving films such as Smokey and the Bandit, Convoy, and Big Rig.
Talk on a CB radio.
Eat at a truck stop.
Attend or take part in the National Truck Driving Championships, which are held around the time as Truck Driver Day.
Read a book about trucking or truckers such as Trucking Country: The road to America's Wal-Mart Economy or The Long Haul: A Trucker's Tales of Life on the Road.
Explore the websites of organizations and companies related to the industry such as American Trucker, Truckers News, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, the American Trucking Associations, and the Women in Trucking Association.

What are your thoughts on the He Gets Us ads that have been taking reddit like an eleventh plague upon religious trauma subs?
I'm going to be generous and assume that it's a problem in Reddit's algorithm. But then, I don't quite know how Reddit's ad system works. If it's deliberate, than it's unacceptable to be putting it into those types of subs. I'd hope people were reporting them as inappropriate. Imagine ads for Tinder in a spouse-abuse recovery sub. Or Triple Whopper ads in a bulimia recovery sub.
I'm sure there'd be endless complaints if the "there's probably no god" ad was targeted into /r/christianquestions.

They lost their shit and called it offensive when it was simply posted out in the open in public space. It's not like billboard trucks were parked right outside their churches.
https://www.theguardian.com/media/2009/jan/09/atheist-bus-campaign-asa
The advertising regulator has received almost 150 complaints that an atheist ad campaign, proclaiming "There is probably no God. Now stop worrying and enjoy your life", is offensive to Christians and other religions that believe in a single God.
"How dare you tell people to stop worrying and enjoy life?!? What's wrong with you, you monster?!?"
Regarding "He Gets Us":
https://www.forbes.com/sites/kerryadolan/2023/02/13/this-billionaire-is-a-donor-behind-the-jesus-focused-super-bowl-ads/
The group behind the Jesus-focused ads is He Gets Us, a limited liability company that says it’s an initiative of The Servant Foundation, a public charity and Christian foundation based in Kansas that last year launched a $100 million effort to improve the image of Jesus, as the Washington Post reported. One of the backers of the initiative is billionaire David Green, the founder of craft store chain Hobby Lobby, who is estimated by Forbes to be worth $14.8 billion.
I mean, he can spend his money however he likes, but it's weird that Jesus needs so much human assistance. Surely if he was real, they could just put him on TV. There's plenty of networks that would pay for the privilege. Why would I want to follow a savior and god who was that helpless? If he can't even convincingly exist, what's he going to do in the war against evil? (The evil he created.)

It seems like Xians are finally acknowledging the exodus - pun intended - of "nones."
https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/Ad-Meter/buzz-meter/2023/02/12/he-gets-us-super-bowl-ad-commercial-jesus/11243476002/
In a September 2022 modeling, the Pew Research Center estimates that if Christians in the USA continue leaving religion at its current rate, Christians of all ages will shrink from the current 64% to “between a little more than half (54%) and just above one-third (35%) of all Americans by 2070.” The study also estimates that if current trends continue, those identifying with no religion will increase from the current 30% to “somewhere between 34% and 52% of the U.S. population.”
Also in the above USA Today article:
a group touting itself as a “movement to reintroduce people to the Jesus of the Bible and his confounding love and forgiveness.”
You know, forgiveness for things we didn't do, which nobody else did either. Except the crime of existing as a human.
The "Jesus of the Bible" is a pretty nasty piece of work. It's only with modern interpretation, editing, revision and cherry-picking that he's been refashioned into the "gentle Jesus, meek and mild" we are told about today.
The "Jesus of the Bible" is a racist, sexist, xenophobic, slavery-endorsing, anti-Semitic mobster. I suppose in a way I'm all for reintroducing people to that, so I can go:

And from the Forbes article:
The ad ended with the phrase “Jesus loved the people we hate.”
As has been made abundantly clear, "Jesus" doesn't care about humans. He doesn't care whether you hate someone or not. All he cares about is whether he hates them or not. And whether he hates you or not depends on what you give him. He loves people who idolize him, not people who are good, decent or moral.
What you want is irrelevant; he just wants you to join his enablers and flying monkeys.
Matthew 12:30
He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad.
Luke 11:23
He that is not with me is against me: and he that gathereth not with me scattereth.
Jesus doesn't give a shit about you until you grovel at his feet and feed his rampant narcissism. That is, he's pathologically incapable - at least as far as fictional characters are capable of anything - of genuine, benevolent, sincere altruism.
Mark 7:25-30
For a certain woman, whose young daughter had an unclean spirit, heard of him, and came and fell at his feet: The woman was a Greek, a Syrophenician by nation; and she besought him that he would cast forth the devil out of her daughter. But Jesus said unto her, Let the children first be filled: for it is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it unto the dogs. And she answered and said unto him, Yes, Lord: yet the dogs under the table eat of the children's crumbs. And he said unto her, For this saying go thy way; the devil is gone out of thy daughter. And when she was come to her house, she found the devil gone out, and her daughter laid upon the bed.
Matthew 15:22-28
And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil. But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us. But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel. Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me. But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs. And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table. Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.
"Tell me you're a filthy dog and maybe I'll cure your daughter with my magic powers that cost me nothing to use as freely as I wish."
So, "Jesus loved the people we hate" isn't the selling point they think it is. Jesus loves Gerald Ridsdale and George Pell, for example. They'll join Hitler in heaven. On the other hand, he also hates the people we love. Such as my atheist parents; he regards them as "not with me" and therefore "against me."
Matthew 10:32-33
Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.
It's always about him. That's how narcissists operate.
"Jesus loved the people we hate" kind of blows the whistle on the whole "love the sinner, hate the sin" thing, though, huh? They're admitting they do hate "the sinner."
Remembering, of course, that Xian love is - like every cult - only for other Xians.
John 13:34-35
A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.
"My disciples" ... "love one another." There is no instruction for universal love, and obligatory love is a demonstration of not understanding love in the first place.
I'm not even sure who the ads are intended for. If you're already a Xian, why are they recruiting for a club you've already joined? And Jesus is clear: only belief is necessary for salvation.
And if you aren't already a Xian, why would these ads convince you of the existence of this storybook character in the real world? It seems to be the Xian refusal to acknowledge that people legitimately don't believe what Xians and the bible claim, and are just "angry" at or "hate" their fairytale characters.
Circling back, I hope, and am going to be charitable and give them the benefit of the doubt until I see evidence otherwise, that they're not being predators deliberately targeting the ex-religious subs, and that it's just the algorithm putting "topic = religion" together.
However, these are the same people who think that questioning whether any of it is actually true is a personal failing and moral flaw. And whine that non-believer blogs exist at all. All while $100m ad campaigns for their thing air on TV. The writing appears to be on the wall.
Next time you get a religious whiner, point out the "He Gets Us" campaign and tell them to either be consistent and condemn it, or else shut up.
#ask#christianity#He Gets Us#jesus christ#religion#religious privilege#Jesus loved the people we hate#religion is a mental illness

The trucking industry is one of the most regulated in the U.S. and Canada, which means compliance is always a top concern for transportation industries. This is especially true when it comes to cross-border freight. These days, border officials rely on digital documents to make the customs process smoother. Having the right software can make this process easy and reduce the risk of errors. Here are a few ways AVAAL eManifest software can make border crossing easy for your business.
Compliance Made Simple
To run a successful trucking business, compliance always needs to be a top priority. Not following the required customs process or accurately filling out documentation can result in lost time, reduced profits, and even legal consequences. Both Canada and the U.S. require carriers to submit their eManifests one hour prior and send their paperwork to customs brokers two hours prior to a driver’s arrival at the border. With AVAAL’s eManifest software, submitting this has never been easier. Our software is tailor-made to meet all the requirements so that you can cross the border without any hassles and be confident that you’re complying with all regulations.
Easy to Use Platform
Both the U.S. and Canada currently offer their own free eManifest portal. Unfortunately, these are difficult to use and not designed to support carriers that regularly cross the border. These platforms also don’t share data between ACE and ACI, creating issues for cross-border trucking companies. AVAAL eManifest is easy to use and reliable. It’s web-based software, meaning you can submit your manifests at any time and from anywhere. Our software also comes with 24/7 support, so we will be available to help you if any issues arise.
Tailored to Your Business' Needs
Not all trucking companies have the same needs, even when it comes to border-crossing. One thing that sets our eManifest software apart from others is that it can be tailor-fit to meet your company’s needs. Whether you’re a single operator or a multi-national company, we offer the greatest level of flexibility and have an eManifest plan to suit your requirements. We have a team of experts on hand ready to help you with all your businesses’ needs.
PAPS and PARS: How to Speed Up Your Cross-Border Shipments
PAPS (Pre-Arrival Processing System) and PARS (Pre-Arrival Review System) are essential components in cross-border trade between Canada and the United States. Let’s explore what they are and how they facilitate the movement of commercial goods across the Canadian and U.S. borders:
PARS (Pre-Arrival Review System):
Designation: PARS is used by the Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA) to clear commercial goods through customs.
Functionality: It involves bar code labels placed on commercial invoices. CBSA agents scan these labels to determine whether goods need immediate release or further inspection.
Integration: PARS works with the ACI (Advance Commercial Information) electronic manifest system in Canada.
PAPS (Pre-Arrival Processing System):
Designation: PAPS is the U.S. counterpart of PARS.
Functionality: Similar to PARS, it allows U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to process goods as they cross the border.
Integration: PAPS operates within the ACE (Automated Commercial Environment) electronic manifest system in the United States.
Similarities and Differences:
Both PARS and PAPS serve the same purpose: facilitating the movement of goods.
The main difference lies in their geographical scope: PARS for Canada, PAPS for the USA.
Having similar systems streamlines importing and exporting between the two countries.
When Do You Need PARS or PAPS Numbers?
Any commercial shipments entering Canada or the U.S. by truck use PARS or PAPS numbers as the default shipping type.
The PARS/PAPS process involves carriers, shippers, and customs brokers working together to ensure smooth border crossings.
Here’s how it works:
A carrier assigns a PARS or PAPS number to a shipment.
The customs broker uses this number to request the release of the shipment from customs.
The carrier prepares an eManifest listing using ACI (Canada) or ACE (U.S.), referencing the PARS or PAPS number.
Only when both the broker’s entry and the carrier’s eManifest listing are accepted can the goods proceed to the border.
Customs officers verify the PARS or PAPS number to release the goods or refer them for inspection.
In summary, PARS and PAPS play a crucial role in expediting cross-border trade, ensuring compliance, and enhancing efficiency for carriers and importers.

Top 4 Ways To Save Time and Money Through Proper Packaging at Logistics Services In Dubai

It is more crucial than ever to reduce company expenses since prices are rising as a result of inflation, supply chain issues, and labor shortages. By using the right packing strategies, suppliers and retailers withlogistics services in Dubai may guarantee increased cost and time efficiency. Here are four quick ways that altering how you package your shipments might help you save time and money.
MAXIMIZE YOUR SPACE, PROTECT CONTENTS
When planning your supply chain, packaging is sometimes disregarded. But it plays a crucial role in maintaining both customer happiness and a sustainable profit margin. Your chances of receiving a damaged or delayed cargo, which is expensive for you and invariably results in lower customer satisfaction, are reduced if you package your shipments correctly and quickly.
There are a few strategies to make sure your packages are correctly wrapped, including:
Not leaving any voids in your packaging. Empty space is an ineffective use of space and can allow items to move during travel, harming them.
Always position the object in the box's center, leaving about 6 cm between it and the side walls.
Shipping many items inside of a bigger product using separators for increased efficiency.
Use a strong seal to shield the package from weather (moisture) damage. Additionally, this will assist guard against the loss of items in transit.
Invest in good shrink wrap, and fasten items with care.
DECREASE THE WEIGHT
During the logistics services in Dubai weight and breakage frequently go hand in one. The number of pallets required per truck may be calculated with the aid of the appropriate weight for the various shipments. Some strategies for lightening your shipments and improving their effectiveness include:
Obtaining precise measurements through the use of vendor boxes, packaging that is standard size, or choose and pack in boxes for different sizes. By selecting the proper sizes, you may comply with regulations and avoid any carrier fines.
Using lightweight or weight-efficient packing to reduce shipping expenses.
Using well-designed packaging can make moving your packing easier and preserve your inventory more effectively (for example, when packaging is piled on top of one another during transit).
SIMPLIFY PACKAGING
Businesses frequently utilize the same size package types for a variety of shipments to streamline the process during logistics services in Dubai. Although this appears to be a terrific approach to streamline and improve your shipping process, you could be missing out on longer-term cost reductions that are more significant.
Dimensional weight pricing is one strategy for lowering weight and dunnage. This pricing strategy refers to setting a package's price based on volume as opposed to size. This might assist you in selecting the appropriate-sized box for your product and lowering your shipping expenses as a whole.
PROPERLY LABEL YOUR SHIPMENTS
This is a crucial step in the procedure to lower claims, lower the number of missing shipments, and much more. Correct labeling guarantees that the contents, destination, etc., are accurately documented. You may appropriately label your shipments in the manner listed below:
Using high-quality label materials produced on industrial/commercial printers, clearly identify the sender and recipient addresses on the contents of the box.
Place the label where it belongs on your packaging. Never place the label for an LTL shipment on top of a pallet; always place it on the sides.
For tracking and visibility purposes, make sure the tracking number is distinct and apparent.
Utilizing a third-party logistics provider (3PL) like Focal Shipping might help you improve the efficiency of your shipping process given the number of variables to take into account. Call or stop by Focal Shipping to find out how we can assist you in choosing the best packaging options for your shipments so that you may improve revenue, satisfy customers, and save time.

Why Hiring a Personal Injury Attorney is Essential After an Accident - Ariel Law Group
Accidents happen in the blink of an eye, and in their aftermath, victims often find themselves overwhelmed, injured, and uncertain about their legal rights. Whether it's a collision involving a motor vehicle, a truck, or even a bicycle, the importance of hiring a personal injury attorney cannot be overstated. Here's why seeking the expertise of a law firm with specialized attorneys in these areas is essential.

Comprehensive Legal Knowledge
The law surrounding personal injuries is complex and multi-faceted. Various rules and regulations may apply, depending on the nature of the accident. A motor vehicle accident lawyer will have specific expertise in laws related to car crashes, while truck accident attorneys focus on commercial vehicle incidents, and a bicycle accidents lawyer specializes in cases involving cyclists.
A seasoned personal injury attorney will understand the intricate legal landscape, ensuring that your rights are protected and that you are pursuing the correct avenues for compensation.
Negotiating with Insurance Companies
Insurance companies are often more concerned about their bottom line than your well-being. Without professional legal assistance, you might find yourself accepting an offer that doesn't fully cover your medical expenses, lost wages, or pain and suffering.
A reputable law firm will have experience in negotiating with insurance companies. They'll know the tactics these companies employ and will be able to fight for a fair and just settlement on your behalf.
Expertise in Specific Accident Types
Different types of accidents require specific legal knowledge. If you're a victim of a truck accident, specialized truck accident attorneys will know the specific regulations that govern commercial vehicles. They can identify if rules were broken and can build a robust case around those violations.
Similarly, if your accident involved a distracted driver, a distracted driving accident attorney would have the expertise to gather evidence and prove that the driver's negligence led to the accident. Their specialized knowledge can be instrumental in building a strong case.

Collecting and Analyzing Evidence
The evidence collected in the immediate aftermath of an accident can be crucial to your case. Skid marks, witness statements, and photographs can all play a significant role in proving fault.
A personal injury attorney will know what to look for and have the resources to collect this evidence. They can work with experts in various fields, such as accident reconstruction specialists, to build a persuasive case.
Offering Support and Guidance
Facing the legal aftermath of an accident can be a highly emotional and stressful process. A motor vehicle accident lawyer or bicycle accidents lawyer will not only provide legal guidance but also emotional support. They understand the trauma that accompanies these situations and can guide you through the process with empathy and understanding.
Conclusion:
Whether you need a motor vehicle accident lawyer, truck accident attorneys, or a bicycle accidents lawyer, hiring a professional is crucial to ensuring that you receive the compensation and justice you deserve. From understanding complex legal issues to negotiating with insurance companies, a law firm specializing in these areas will provide the expertise and support necessary to navigate the challenging legal landscape.
No one should have to face the aftermath of an accident alone. By hiring a personal injury attorney, you gain an advocate who understands the law's complexities, has specialized expertise in various types of accidents, and is committed to fighting for your rights.
Don't let the insurance companies undervalue your claim or leave yourself vulnerable to legal missteps. Reach out to a reputable law firm and find the motor vehicle accident lawyer, distracted driving accident attorney, or truck accident attorneys that best suit your needs. The support, guidance, and expertise they provide can be instrumental in transforming a traumatic experience into a path towards recovery and justice.

.....people work at corporations. corporations serve people. they don't exist in and of themselves like cartoon villains burning money for the joy of it. all activity of a business does something that people want. all oil is drilled because people use it. if people stopped wanting oil, then it would stop being drilled and burned. just like when people stopped wanting horses to pull their stuff and switched to cars, we stopped having horse shit in the streets. demand is a real thing.
groceries and food did not stop happening when lockdowns happened. lockdowns weren't even universal. healthcare didn't stop. everything that could be done over zoom, was done there instead. what stopped was commuting, not the rest of society, including all shipping and everything that wasn't done over zoom. all commerce still happened.
the tiny bit of activity that accounts for commuting, of course, can't shift global warming because commercial activity dwarfs that. the commercial activity....caused by people...living their lives and buying stuff.
if you banned oil, then yes things would change. but that does not mean "evil corporations are at fault and NOT ME". it means we can't wait for demand to naturally change things because it is too slow, and people don't all change their habits at once, and global demand is really hard to change. which we...just saw....when global demand didn't change much even in the face of a global catastrophe.
the role of regulation is that "people will not just" do anything, not that "people's choices have no role here". everything is a choice. if everyone wanted electric cars, their cost would go down and business would use those because long haul trucking currently isn't feasible on the lack of charging stations and the long charging times.

"Hey so it turns out that the people of earth accidentally did a global experiment to see if every individual could course correct climate change through mass personal change of habits, and it turns out, no! We can't! It was massive corporate activity all along!"
