What Is The Most Used Playground Equipment?
Slides and swings are the most used playground equipment, the classic staples of any popular childhood playground. Slides are essential to a playground, while swings are the backbone of any playground. Swings make children feel like they are free and flying, at one with the wind that blows around them. Properly designed swings and slides are essential for a child’s fun and safety at a playground while extending play time.

Some of my meet the Robinsons headcanons 🫣 cause my head is full of em. A lot of these r kinda worldbuildy but some are Robinson family based!
-I'm a believer that Franny went to school for bio-engineering (and music ofc) and put all of that knowledge towards her frogs. Maybe she even had a successful lab of her own before finally succeeding with the band, and left it to conduct full time.
- I don't think Lazlos paint gun would shoot random art, but rather Lazlo would have to manually program a painting into it somehow, and trial-and-error test it until it looks perfect.
- Billies train system through the house is Uncle Joe's primary mode of transportation across the bigger stretches of the estate.
- Along w the hover-chairs, there's a Robinson brand of wheelchairs and crutches that can fold/unfold to travel through the travel tubes and be sensed by the bubbles!
- Robinson industries is obviously the top of the line when it comes to tech products, but there are also other companies that sell similar products. The Samsungs to Cornelius's Apple.
- Future City/Todayland is Not Named That. I don't have any better ideas but both of those ain't it
- Nonetheless I think it became the biggest city in the country just due to it being the first to take on Niels cityscaping inventions. It's kind of his personal playground in that sense
- In that breath I also think there's many places in the country that just Aren't that advanced. I imagine public transportation has majorly improved but in many cities life hasn't changed all too much.
- I think it'd be interesting for Robinson Industries to have people who just HATE the things they do. Look at those instant-buildings and tell me the construction working community didn't freak out.
- imo 2037 (from what we see) seems technologically advanced in the way that people would be able to return to art- but the transition period was definitely rough as people started losing jobs to Neils tech.
- I don't know if Niel would make many robots to be sold commercially- not with the problem of AI vs humans.
- In tiny text of a concept art in the art book you can read that Cornelius created "Robinson™ Blue/Green fuel cells" which are the "world's first renewable clean-burning fuel source" source.
- If we accept that as canon and assume all the new flying cars were fueled with this energy source, we can pretty much assume ground cars went extinct pretty quickly, unless other car manufacturers and gas companies were still allowed to produce.
- Probably by 2037 the use of gas has been banned, leaving only the souly electric ground cars, which probably weren't enough to run whole businesses on. With flying cars as the new norm, roads were likely torn up.
- I don't imagine the whole car switch thing went over well with the public either tbh. I would not be happy if Some Guy told me I couldn't buy gas anymore and had to take the airbus.
- I could have sworn it was canon that Niel had won at least one nobel peace award. Does anyone else remember that

We have a housing problem what problems do you forsee and what solutions would you suggest for the upcoming projects?
Hi Anon, Thanks for the question
One of the big problems we will face with getting the number of houses built that this government has targetted is the requirement for parking spaces for those houses. We can no longer build streets of terrace houses because each house is supposed to have room for 2 cars. This is why new build blocks of flats come with carparks and new build houses usually come with front parking spaces or garages.
I'd like to use tech to solve the problem there are underground parking garages that would fit in almost any community but they come with the risk that a breakdown would cause a neighbourhood to be without access to their cars. I've seen examples of this on Tom Scott's YouTube here which can include electric car charging and are much more secure than on-street parking.
Storing cars off the street like this makes them a hassle to access, which means that you need to build the area around that limitation. While discouraging driving you have to provide all the things a community might need. Every 100 or so houses should have a shop or commercial space, every 250 houses should have a park. This makes the area walkable and enjoyable for families.
Every 1000 houses should have some form of community resource which might be a community centre, doctor's office, library, school or faith building. The community resource should be the last thing that's built, there should be space earmarked for it and when residents have started to buy up the finished properties and move in they should get an opportunity to decide what they think they would use most.
These should often be built in conjunction with one another, if there's the opportunity for 5000 houses to be built near one another. We could end up with a village that has 2 primary schools, a doctor's office, a library/community centre, and a church for the community buildings, while in the commercial spaces there could be 5 corner shops, 5 charity shops, a salon, a barber shop, a bank, a local supermarket, 5 pubs or takeaways, 5 other faith buildings, a telecom exchange, 6 electric substations, a retirees centre, several spaces for small local businesses/offices, and to fulfil the green space requirements there'd be 10 small parks/playgrounds and 1 larger park with 10x the space maybe with basket ball/tennis courts, lawn bowls, some football posts on a field and a set of toilets. This would end up being a somewhat balanced community with room for many different sorts of people to move in and become a community through their shared access to these spaces.
Social housing should be an integral part of every community, 1/10 homes being one that should be sold to a social landlord or council, these should be picked at random so it's impossible to tell which streets or which properties in a given street are social landlords vs owned by the person living in them vs private rented. They absolutely should not be the cheapest houses the building company can provide that meets the social housing specification while other houses in the same area are bigger or have more things built into their fabric.
Making a village like this walkable and limiting the parking to the parking structures means you can forgo streets and use many of the road spaces as green spaces with walking paths, trees and so on.
If I were designing this I'd have concentric circular roads connected by spokes on T junctions where the 4th road goes into a parking structure and the spoke roads may be on every 3rd or 4th 'street'. the result should be no one is more than a few minutes walk from one parking structure or another, and each structure could have storage for 50 to 100 cars, which would probably mean people would end up meeting at the structures around rush hours adding more opportunities to build the community.
I understand that this wouldn't be workable in all areas but I think that if 5-10% of the projects looked like this they'd be able to provide a higher density of housing with an improved local environment over the concrete jungle with tarmac driveways and tiny gardens model which has come to dominate in many new build locations.
Even though I think this is a good solution, I understand that it could only be done with planning directed by the government because this shift in the layout and structure of new communities is rather radical. I see that it would face huge amounts of resistance from commercial ventures thinking that it's not viable, installing the technologies is going to take skills and extra money we don't currently have easily available relatively speaking, even if I believe there would ultimately be an appetite for this sort of community and people would easily adapt to living in these sorts of villages because it's so different it might take time to be accepted.
Yet another Complicated answer for a complicated world and this isn't the only solution out there. I'd like to hear from other people what they think of this idea and if they could see themselves living in a place like this.

Pre-Grief Syndrome: Pertinence-salad of Waterbaths
Or: A little mermaid gains her scales.
You could start this literature with a simple remark that blue is the colour of your eyes, and therefore the colour of your Soul, and what dyed your Soul, would, realistically, be coolly associated with your environment; that science of thriving and what society believes.
See, with this line of this-and-that, you found any commentary on such matters have always felt...prosaic, in the sense of commercials placating the consistency of blue skies and palm beaches. Your relatives once held the tips of your hair between their fingers, rubbing it like powder, and the spoken sentiment to follow had always been rather extreme - how blue your hair is, Miki-san, I'm sure your classmates envy you, right?
Recently, memories of the past seem to return in waves, and fade faster than seafoam. Your heart tickles, and at first you think you brushed your Soul Gem a little too tightly, but when your mind draws the past in poor photographs of exposure flairs obscuring faces of what-should-be relatives (family or friends? but either way, they don't seem too memorable now) in the sunset of playgrounds and you curled up besides the running stream dividing the neighborhood sector, you tilt your head to the side, a hypnic jerk between Living and Nonexistence.
(Recently, you start to forget things just a little faster, and each effort to recall even this fresh sting seems to snowball with challenge.)
You are not disturbed by this.
Try as you might, even if you clench your teeth and stand in the middle of the room with your curtains drawn, the low simmer in your body to reach out and encase what little valuable past you recollect burns passion's last, embers of a fire preserved only in the crumbling end of a cigarette. Soon, like itself, you will be discarded and crushed under a heel, completely put-out; nothing personal of the sort, of course (this you know, and this you think), but a matter of moving onto a fresh stick. You contribute in a falling ladder as another rung to be temporarily stepped on. The locomotive which steadily chugged its merry way has derailed into the sea.
Sometimes you see fish swimming in your vision, ghostly fins and tails waving in front of your face, a school of beckoning. When you sleep, your body aches under the dry blast of air conditioning, and you always fall in your dreams the same way you used to practice diving into pools at mandated swimming classes. You yearn for that which will end you, inexorably.
(Do you have any idea how much she has sacrificed to keep you happy?)
The passengers are drowning. You don't know who they are, and you can't feel much for them except for instinctive pity. Second nature had become reflex, misery and its company taking form of familiar (why are they...familiar? Why is she...familiar?) dancers pirouetting around your overcast self.
"There you are."
I'm expiring, you want to tell her, but you cannot even grace her any response. You stand there, in the rain, where your vision has narrowed into a tunnel and faces become even more blurry. Are you underwater? You certainly feel like it. Your body is lightweight - how strange a sensation, when corpses are generally heavy. You raise a hand, not of your own will, but still motorised by a turning heart, a resilient wound-up key, and you close your ears. Of course, everything feels dull and muffled even in the blade of lightning's storm. Puddles gather around your feet, and you don't need to look to know your uniform is soaked, practically a sponge for the wrath of nature.
Still, you stand, if only slightly crooked, over the box of a stray cat in the alleyway, your other hand gripping the umbrella above the animal to prevent it from getting wet.
(Your hand hurts. You don't feel it. Your last bit of good will, and there is a foul 'feeling' when you think that.)
You did it because you can. It seems that your brain is electrified by arbitrary nodes now, a ghostly remnant of something that has upstaged all logic. It reminded you, distantly, of that little newspaper article of fish moving after they're served to the table for consumption.
The cat mewls at you, but you just stare at it, unmoving.
"Hey, what are you doing?" A hand lands on your shoulder. You don't react, at first, when you don't know who this girl is, you decided, even if her eyes reminded you of warm fireplaces and a red eye bearing judgement-
You flinch, battering her hand away.
"...Stop standing under the rain, you idiot. You're going to catch a cold."
But there's water, you want to protest, blue sparkles tinkle the illusionary air, the sound of a violin's drawl in the background, where else could I possibly be?
Even your arms itch, then. You're not sure if you watch to reach out to That Girl or lay them by your side, the corpse to the coffin. Instead, you hug yourself gingerly, not in response to the humid weather, but because they burn. You want to submerge yourself into a tub. There is a tub at home. You want to go home. Rain alone is inadequate to melt the burning frost creeping up on your skin.
"Sayaka! Your hands!" That Girl reaches out, trying to tend to those luminous, rotting scales, but her touch worsens it, like flame to the wings of a moth. Your eyes flutter shut, turning away. Scales, malodorous, oily scales of blue and yellow and ink black flourish a bright, misty rainbow in raindrops.
"Tell me what's going on!"
"Water," you croak out, your voice deeper and distorted than you remembered it to be, "I need water. I want to take a bath."
(I definitely won't regret it!)
And for moment's end, That Girl just looks around. You want to smile, and the muscles of your lips twitch a smidgen in effort despite the vacancy of your eyes. You know that your body remembers something that your mind does not - a brief thought occurs to you that she thinks she can find a bucket wide enough to keep your feet within it for a while. You don't understand why she bothers, and why she bothers with such vulgar methods. A bucket of water would hardly sustain contain you.
(You needed something better. Something that feels like home (what was it that drove you to these depths as the concert undulates with grace?: the ocean.)
"Let's go," she doesn't touch you, doesn't question you, this time, opting to keep a close distance from you as you limp away (since when did your feet feel so heavy on land?), leaving the umbrella against the cat's box.
Even as you know you'll forget it eventually, that sentiment, that sound of rain, that headless flame, you focus on the comfort of slipping into a bath of water at home, surrounded by porcelain walls painted with curling waves and seagulls soaring permanently over them.
Soon there will hail grief — but just before the warned stroke of midnight, you continue to brush scales off your skin, tap water rippling seafoam with each push.

Valentine's day. He'd never really been excited about it, but he had celebrated because Gabi had. Flowers, chocolates, dinner dates. He felt Valentines was one commercial excuse to bring money in. Now that he was with Roman, he had been looking forwards to it. He had brought up the fact he didn't feel like buying gifts and things like that, far better to put that money into something for the farm than on something that wouldn't live longer than a week. They had, however, enjoyed each other's company at one of the restaurants. Nothing fancy, just the two of them. So once dinner was all said and done and they were walking back to the farm, he held onto his man's hand as he enjoyed the crisp air against his cheeks. He finally felt comfortable showing affection in the outside world, now that his father was gone, he didn't fear risking being seen by him, which was an awful thing to think, but not something he could control. "Penny for your thoughts?" He asked Roman after a moment of silence, looking away from the playground they had passed. "Food not sitting well?" @romanrhodes

Trends Shaping the Development of BDA-Approved Plot Communities in Bangalore by Reliaable Developers
BDA-approved plot communities are establishing themselves as hubs of modern living in Bangalore. Sanctioned by the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA), these communities lead a change towards more sustainable, connected, and community-focused neighborhoods. As Bangalore expands, so does the need to understand the trends shaping these developments. In this blog, we’ll explore the key trends influencing BDA-approved plot communities in Bangalore.
Sustainable Development:
In response to growing environmental concerns, developers are prioritizing sustainable practices in the construction and operation of BDA-approved plot communities. By minimizing resource consumption and reducing pollution, these communities aim to contribute to a healthier and more eco-friendly urban environment. In the constant effort of eco-friendly urban development, certain developers, like Reliaable Developers are aligning their projects with eco-conscious practices. Take, for instance, Reliaable Signature of South, where a dedicated focus on sustainability is clear through the installation of rainwater harvesting systems. Such initiatives reflect a growing trend within BDA-approved plot communities towards minimizing environmental impact and fostering greener urban landscapes.
Integrated Amenities:
BDA-approved plot communities are designed to offer residents a comprehensive range of amenities and services within proximity to their homes. These amenities may include playgrounds, jogging tracks, swimming pools, supermarkets, restaurants, healthcare facilities, schools, and childcare centers. Projects like Reliaable Dollars Colony that have garnered positive Reliaable Developers reviews boast an array of amenities ranging from a cafeteria to a park, a clubhouse, a gym, and a play area. These offerings show the company’s commitment to ensuring residents have access to essential facilities and recreational opportunities within the community itself.
Connectivity and Accessibility:
Recognizing the importance of connectivity in urban living, developers are strategically locating BDA-approved plot communities in areas with good access to transportation networks. These communities are typically situated near major roads, highways, and public transportation routes, facilitating convenient travel to and from key destinations such as workplaces, educational institutions, shopping centers, and healthcare facilities. Reliaable Developers, for instance, strategically position their projects for easy access to key destinations. Reliaable Prime City’s proximity to an educational institution like Sorsfort International School, healthcare facilities like Springleaf Hospital, and shopping centers demonstrate this approach, reflecting a broader trend towards creating well-connected living environments.
Focus on Community Living:
BDA-approved plot communities are designed to foster a strong sense of community among residents. Communal spaces such as parks, gardens, clubhouses, and community centers serve as gathering points where residents can come together to socialize, relax, and build relationships. Companies like Reliaable Developers actively foster a sense of belonging among residents. Their projects serve as hubs for social interaction and community engagement, offering spaces where like-minded individuals can come together and form beautiful connections. This emphasis on community-building contributes to a more peaceful and supportive living environment.
Integration of Mixed-Use Developments:
To create vibrant and self-sustaining neighborhoods, BDA-approved plot communities often incorporate mixed-use developments that combine residential, commercial, and recreational functions within a single area. Mixed-use developments may include retail shops, offices, restaurants, cafes, entertainment venues, and public spaces, creating an urban environment that is active and lively throughout the day. Reliaable Developers, for instance, embrace the concept of mixed-use developments, combining residential, commercial, and recreational spaces within a single neighborhood. This approach not only enhances convenience for residents but also fosters a vibrant urban environment.
Conclusion:
In conclusion, the development of BDA-approved plot communities in Bangalore is characterized by a commitment to sustainability, amenities, and community engagement. As these trends continue to shape urban development in Bangalore, residents can look forward to a more fulfilling living experience, characterized by convenience, connectivity, and a strong sense of belonging. These trends are not only shaping the future of Bangalore but also setting new standards for urban living in India.
About Reliaable Developers:
Established in 1999 by Dr. Rama Reddy and Mr. H.P. Rama Reddy, Reliaable Developers is a leading name in Bangalore’s real estate. Led by Dr. Rama Reddy and Dr. Mahendra Reddy, the company blends tradition and innovation. With a focus on BDA-approved plots, they’ve delivered over 15,000 plots across prime Bangalore locations. Victor Gruen’s original detailed plan for the Southdale project - from the Minneapolis Star, June 17 1952
(ID: A floorplan showing a shopping center with a school, a church, a restaurant, a park and playground, a lake, a nursery, a fire station, a recreational bowling center, business/medical/professional/utility buildings, another park and playground, a service station, and a market. In the middle of this is the shopping center, with two large buildings for shopping and two similarly sized sections for parking. Surrounding all of this is plenty of residential areas within walking distance from each other and the other buildings.
Text in the top left:
“Here is a detailed plan of Southdale, 10-million-dollar, 500-acre shopping and residential project in the area of Sixty-sixth street and France avenue S. (See story Page One). The project puts the shopping center some 600 feet from the nearest public streets. The center's own street plan acts as buffer between residential and commercial areas. The shopping center is a cluster type. The major department store--a branch of The Dayton Company--forms a nucleus about which some 50 smaller stores are grouped”

In case you are wondering "how did we get here exactly?" Let me outline some things.
Playgrounds and play areas in fast food and malls required more employees to keep them clean. People (fairly) didn't want to do that work for minimum wage on top of their normal restaurant duties, and stores wouldn't hire enough people to not have to split work between the kitchen and cleaning. So the play areas were closed off and then torn down.
Then, apple came in with their empty white box stores, and suddenly everyone wanted to look like them (because they had a massive hit product that was also a status symbol and people want to feel like they have status even if they don't) or like a luxury brand store (again, false status). Bright white, extra white LED lights everywhere (nice in some ways, but blinding in others), fewer items stocked on shelves and then in general in stores. Apple had that design in part because they had relatively few products to display relative to store size, same with luxury brands. It makes more sense for each item to be on a pedestal when you only sell a handful of products. It doesn't when you have dozens of products.
At your more "middle class" stores, part of shift to stocking less is false scarcity - they want people to feel like they have to buy an item now or risk not getting it, and so people can't wait for discounts. Part of it is that with the new displays that hold fewer items but make things look more "boutique," keeping the shelves stocked and things moved from the back requires more employees than they are willing to pay. My local target, which is undergoing renovations to better fit their "Target Boutique" look, has had chronically empty shelves in some areas due to understocking and not having enough staff to replenish stock in all areas. Now they've added more self checkouts so they can cut back on cashiers and move those jobs to stock. Some places that haven't gone as "minimalist", like Walmart, have also shifted their employment focus from cashiers and stock to mainly stock by switching to primarily self checkout in efforts to maximize profits by reducing labor costs.
Part of getting rid of fun, unique designs was also reducing costs to make profit rather than innovating or drawing more customers to increase revenue. Custom molded seats with several different designs cost more than a minimalist set of identical chairs. Anything that children can play with or play on will break eventually and need to be replaced, so it's cheaper to just not have those things and not have to spend money on them. Unique roofing and siding costs more money to replace, so it was swapped for generic stock. If it can't be pressure washed or painted over, then it's also out because those are the cheapest ways to clean or refresh the storefront. Fountains break down, so rip them out or don't have them to begin with. Landscaping requires maintenance, so just leave it plain concrete and don't bother with planters. If there are plants, they will be knock-out roses, box hedges, and maybe some small cheap annuals because the former require next to no maintenance and are disease, pest, and pollution resistant, and the later just get replaced with other cheap annuals the next season. In the name of profit, everything looks bland and repetitive.
In the 90s and early 2000s, the middle class has more spending power to balance out the costs of fun and family friendly things in public spaces, but also percent profit hadn't needed to grow as much for a company to call itself successful. Because total profit isn't what matters, what matter is percentage profit growth. When you want your profits to grow exponentially, you have to minimize costs exponentially also - which, eventually, will lead to a collapse because there is a minimum you have to spend to operate and have people willing to work and want to pay for your product.
(There is also a back-and-forth relationship between residential and commercial design, outside of just where mandated by towns, where commercial mimics residential in an effort to feel "homey" and "inviting" and then people go "ew, that house has the same exterior as the mcdonalds. I don't want my house to match fast food," so the housing shifts to something else, and then the commercial design shifts again, and this goes on forever and no one learns to just make the businesses unique because that would impact their profit growth)
The "boutique" look of stores also serves another purpose. By having some items scattered in various sections (accessories being mixed in with the clothing sections rather than in a separate accessories/jewelry section, some pet goods are in the pet section, others are in seasonal or sport or housewares, etc.) you force people to walk through areas they normally wouldn't in order to find a specific item they are looking for. If I want a sun hat for my beach trip, I can't just go to hats, get the one i want, and then be done. I have to walk through swimwear where they've also placed some beach towels and pool floats and water bottles, because they hope I will impulse buy the other things if I'm there for only one of them. This is the same reason the grocery store keeps getting seemingly arbitrarily rearranged every 6 months. It is arbitrary, and it's because they want people who have a routine of shopping for their staples and know exactly where they are, thus overlooking other items, to have to look at the shelves more closely again, which makes them more likely to make impulse purchases.
Anyway, as usual, the question of "why does shit suck and why is nothing as fun as it used to be" is answered by "capitalism."
i hate how capitalism and 2010s-20s minimalistic designs took away creative and colorful designs. i miss how mcdonald’s used to look when it had the red tile roof and when they had chairs in the dining room molded after their characters. i miss when storefronts would have colorful cartoon art on the walls and windows. i miss how hot topic used to look, when it looked like it’d be scary to walk into when you were a kid but after you got in and saw all the invader zim merchandise it was okay. or how malls used to have so much color, from the tiles to the walls to the ceiling. i hate the bland minimalism we have now. i hate the beige and silver design that every store has now. i hate it.
