btw important clarification: Duke chose the morning shift himself. the sentiment that bruce needed someone to patrol in the morning is straight up untrue, duke's early training was right beside batman solving crimes and chasing criminals at night but as he was figuring out his place in the Gotham vigilante scene working at night just did not work for him. Eventually he chose to work during the daytime specifically because of his mother's ideology, that it's easier to recognize truth in the light, and because it allows him better direct access to the people of Gotham.

Duke is a very community centered character. He is big on his beliefs about it and redemption. Saying Bruce chose the day for him removes Duke's agency as a character and is a fundamental misunderstanding of him. He was Gothams robin (not batman's) for a reason. he was going to do his "protect and uplift the community by any means" thing no matter what, he was doing it before he even met bruce and it was the reason they met in the first place. he works in the morning because it's where the people are and it's the best way to see them in all their truths and complexities and for them to see him and know that everything is going to be okay

Captain Marvel is such a great movie, an amnesiac alien crash-lands on Earth, proceeds to immediately annoy everyone in her vicinity, steals a motorcycle, re-finds her found family (and adds a few new members), finds out she's actually human and her mentor has been lying to her, gets in a fight, gets in another fight, gets in another fight, ships her ex-mentor back to his planet, and jerry-rigs multiple communication devices, including a pager. Also the soundtrack is full of great songs. Top tier.

the thing abt duke thomas is that he is a genius truly gifted kid who had a promising albeit average future ahead of him until tragedy struck and took his parents from him. then all the energy he has diverts and he blocks everything else out and dedicates himself to finding them and also being a huge problem for anyone who'd try to obscure that.

like #1 most underrated thing abt his character is that he is, by definition, a "retired crash out". after age 14 he had no friends, shit grades, was getting into fights so often he was being kicked out of schools AND foster homes. it truly was self made vigilatism and the power of friendship that saved him from tunnel-visioning into an early grave.

ALL THIS TO SAY my favorite thing abt duke thomas pre batman and the signal (hell even during the comic) is how much of an unapologetic asshole he is to everyone indiscriminately in a bad way. He was kind but lil bro was NOT nice. he was selfish and a dickhead even to ppl who cared and were really trying to help him. I really like to think that him getting past that wasn't dc neutering him but the active choice to get better after he finally found a solid support system. that being said, he most definitely code switches and has to CONSISTENTLY hold back from poppin bitches in they mouthes bcs hes past that! he's in his healing arc! <as he'd say.

I don’t think, as a fandom, we have utilitiesed the concept of immortal Alfred along side the Fawcett time bubble.

Now, I know for a fact that it’s canon Alfred is not immortal and has infact died, I also just don’t give a shit

I’m also fairly sure that time bubble fawcett has never been canon (atleast in the way that I picture it) , and at the very least isn’t anymore, I still don’t care.

Just picture, Itty Bitty Billy Batson (orphan whos entire support system from when he was younger is just entirely gone) hears a familiar voice coming through Batman’s personal comms, and just kinda thinks,

Now he’s obviously very confused, last time he heard anything about his Uncle Al was approximately in like 1954, and he was around the same age as his parents who I imagine couldn’t be any younger than like 30. So how tf is he not brain dead and being fed through a tube by now? (I’m sure there are some very functional 90 year olds but like… what are the chances?)

I imagine that Billy would eventually figure out that Alfred works for the Wayne family in Gotham (I also imagine that he now vaguely know Batman’s identity but he’s also like 12 so why would he care?) and finds a way to get there as soon as possible.

I’m picturing just like, Tim or someone opening the door to this tiny little boy whos holding a box full of pictures and letters and is politely asking if he can ‘Speak with uncle-err, Mr Pennyworth?’

Randomly got the thought that because Fawcett was stuck in time for so long, basically barring them from making outside friendships, the heroes and villains got weirdly close. I mean, the relationships vary in complexity. Obviously some villains are ruthless and others are more willing to compromise, and there are even some who just want to get their aggression out and nothing else.

BUT, you can bet your whiskers that Ibac once helped sneak a bottle of priceless liquor to Billy’s place because he’s been DYING to try a sip but he and many others are slow to aging.

Beautia and Princess Taia regularly go on trips to the mall.

Minute Man trades/steals baseball cards from Sivana, who steals them right back.

The Sivana & Batson twins regularly switch clothes with the respective twin and proceed to fool everyone around them. They laugh about it together.

Oh and they have monthly picnics.

Don’t acknowledge it, they sure don’t. Not all of them are chummy and not all of them are going to leave without picking a fight(notice how I’m not specifically whether it’s just the villains who start a fight😅).

It’s more that they’ve known each other for nearly a century. That they’re all trapped in the bubble that separates them from the problems of the outside world. There are probably other villains out there, grouping up to destroy new heroes.

It’s more that they know each know things about each other. Really close, private things.

It’s more that they all have different levels of trauma when remembering their situation. They all have penpals out there, and family members who they wanted to connect with.

It’s more that, when the bubble breaks and the real world gives them a hard shove, only THEY know what it feels like. The world of heroes vs villains is so different now. They can’t put their finger on why. So many syndicates and underground plots. And so many different hero teams too.

Billy will never say it out loud, but after a long, loud day fighting the Injustice League with the JL, he’s going to detransform on the roof of Sivanna Enterprise and just lay there for a bit.

Sivana will never say it out loud, but after a long, loud day of refusing yet another invitation to join whatever idiotic scheme Lex Luthor and his followers have cooking, he’ll join his greatest nemesis on that roof.

Just for a little while, he’s not THAT nice🙄
