Random Sunday morning thoughts/motivation/inspiration (why I tend to have these thoughts with no context either first thing in the morning or late at night, I don't know, but I'll always share them in case someone needs a little pep talk or the like 😊):
Tumblr media
Sometimes you need a whole weekend where you don't talk to anyone, don't go anywhere, and just do what you want to do. And that's ok! (And if what you want to do is talk to people or go places, that's ok too!) Wherever you are in life right now, you've worked hard to get there, and you deserve to enjoy it. As long as nothing is on fire and absolutely can't wait, you're allowed to relax and not feel guilty about the stuff that needs done.
I have to remind myself of that every once in a while, and one of the things that helps me stop the guilt train is to just pick one small task to do for the day. Once you finish that task, if you feel like doing more, great! If not, that's ok too, you still made progress. For example, yesterday I tidied up my living room and cut up strawberries in the morning and made actual food for dinner later that evening. Today, I'm gonna finish taking care of dishes and then maybe get some laundry going (or at least finish putting away laundry from last weekend...)
Whatever battles you're fighting in life, you've got this, and there's nothing wrong with taking a break to recharge for the next one 😘

Welcome to The Chirp!
Hello internet world! It is a pleasure to meet you. I’m so interested in the world, news, and people around me, I’ve decided to take my journalism to an online platform. Lucky you! You get to hear my news stories, occasional opinion pieces, and some comedy stirred in there somewhere (hopefully). Let’s put fake news to the side for now, and let the truly professional Tumblr bloggers take over. I hope you see a brighter side to journalism than what people think of it today. My name is Rachel, I’m a freshman media and communications major at Catholic University and this is my blog!

10th of december, 2018
It’s been 686 days since I posted to my private Tumblr. I was a freshmen then; junior now. So much has changed: friends, mentality, family, grades, etc. Two nieces and nephews were born. I joined the Honors College at my school I found an internship and picked my major (sociology) I have a boyfriend of almost a year (anniversary: jan. first) I got diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease
A chronic inflammatory bowel disease that affects the lining of the digestive tract.
I just been going through it. I’m trying to find another positive outlet to help me get through life. Maybe Tumblr will be that for me again...

That moment when you think you're doing ok financially and then you look at your bank account and realize you're a lot closer to NOT being financially ok than you're comfortable with which means you have to start sticking to a strict budget again.......fuck

College Journal #5
College Stress Level: 10/10
4 words: Fuck the College Essay.
I can't stand it when I need to fucking help others with their essay and I still don't even know what I can write. I'm being swarmed by good essay after good essay and then I get told I have shitty essays.
You want me to write a good essay? Well here are my rules:
Let me curse as freely as possible
I can write about anything I want to
Problems with my rules? That's everything not to do on a college essay. Gonna die from a fucking essay-induced stroke. So done people, so done.

Day 1
Technically it's not day one of college, but it is day one of me starting this diary. I have started many and gave up many times. I can't promise that I will keep up with this everyday, but I will try my best.
College is nothing like I imagined. I never get enough sleep. I have done more things in about two months that I have done in my whole lifetime. In college was when I had my first sip of alcohol. My first blackout. My first hangover. My first actual hookup. The first time I kissed more than one guy in one night. Do I regret any of it? Never. It's college. Of course I do not plan on doing only this. My academics are also extremely important. However, I must confess that I have not been prioritizing my academics and it has been showing through my grades. I do plan on changing that though.
I have made some of the greatest friends. We have truly became a family. A weird family though. I may have hooked up with one of my guy friends in my room with my roommate right beside us sleeping. It was accepted since we were trashed though. We have been helping each other make it through though. If I were to give one advice to the upcoming college students it would be to find the right group of friends. Not only the ones who will party with you, but who will also be there rooting you on right before a test and making sure you are getting all your work done. It's one of the best things anyone can do.
Fall break is almost over. I love being home, but I also miss my friends like crazy. I am ready for what this week has to offer. It's going to be a short week, but with all this work it will go by very slow.

So I was scrolling through Twitter (I don't care if it's called X now, it's f*cking Twitter) and came across a post about why John Walsh started America's Most Wanted (link). After reading it and a few of the replies I remembered when a guy tried to kidnap me in a parking lot a few months ago.
TW for creepy guy in an old beat up car in a dibellas parking lot asking for directions and being paranoid on the drive home if that's a thing that might concern u. I'll put the story behind a keep reading thing just in case (◍•ᴗ•◍)❤
For context, I'm a 25yo female, 5'2" and around 180 lbs. So I'm on the petite side proportion-wise, and the way my extra weight sits it's not always super obvious that it's there.
So one weekend a few months ago I put in an online order for a sub at dibellas and went to pick it up. I didn't bother changing out of my lounge clothes (loose tank top with no bra, flannel shorts, and slip on shoes, no makeup) since i was just gonna be in and out within a minute and didn't really care all that much about how I looked. After I got my sub I had my car door open and was about to get in when a car pulled up next to me (not super close, there was a comfortable amount of distance) and asked if I knew where [insert local plaza/strip mall here] was. I genuinely didn't know where it was (still don't) so I turned to him and apologized saying I didn't know.
Without saying another word the sleezy looking guy in a sh*tty old beat up car immediately pulls away, leaves the parking lot, and pulls right up to the nearest traffic light. I felt like that was strange since if he was actually asking for directions I would have thought he'd pull into an empty parking spot and Google it. The whole thing felt off to me so, remembering what his car looked like, I kept an eye out for him or any other suspicious looking car the whole way home in case I was being followed so I could pull into a police station or the like and not lead them to my apartment. Luckily I didn't see anyone following me at all so my sandwich and I were able to get home safely.
✧◝(⁰▿⁰)◜✧
Moral of the story is to always trust your gut. If someone asks you for directions and something doesn't feel right, tell them no and immediately walk away to the nearest safety. If it happens in a store, find the nearest most intimidating looking person or just group of people and pretend you know them like your life depends on it, because it just might. You can also pretend you have someone waiting for you, and even pull out your phone like your getting a phone call and very clearly say, as if your replying to someone asking where you are, that you are on your way right now and will be there soon you are just being held up. If you need to extend the fake call, pretend where you're going is a large meet up with a bunch of people ("is everything ready for the party/reunion? I have the decorations and cake in the car and was just about to head your way now")
(◍•ᴗ•◍)✧*。
Side note, here's another quick tip for you. I don't care what you think about police or any other emergency service providers, but if your driving anywhere and feel like someone is following you, pull into the nearest police or fire station and, if they follow you into the parking lot, DON'T get out! Just lay on your horn until a cop/firefighter/whatever comes out. If they are a shitty cop/etc and won't help after you explain the situation and the creep is still in the parking lot, call 911 (or whatever your local emergency number is) and get them to help you. Your top priority is staying safe and NOT leading the creep to your home.
Stay safe out there, everyone, there's some creepy people lurking in places you wouldn't imagine. 〜(꒪꒳꒪)〜

If you like to keep a tidy space but don't always feel like tidying up, I've found what works best for me is to turn it into a speedrunning game.
Pick a space that you want to tidy up and/or clean (ex. Couches/coffee table/end tables, office space, dining area, kitchen counters, bedroom, etc). I like to pick the space that I've been putting off on cleaning or just really needs some attention
Set a timer for 5 minutes (you can set it for 10 or 15 minutes if you want, I just do 5 minutes because it feels less daunting if a task to the lazy part of my brain) That's all you need, trust me.
Try to beat the clock! Pretend you have company coming over to spend time in the space you picked and make it presentable!
Once the timer goes off, if you're satisfied with what you did, then you can leave it at that knowing that part of your living space is cleaner than it was before. If you want to continue, then go ahead and continue!
You'd be surprised what you can get done in 5 minutes, believe me. And a lot of times, the hardest part is just getting started. Sometimes you have to go into a task telling yourself your just gonna spend 5/10/15 minutes working on it and then if you don't feel like continuing that's fine, you've still made progress. But most times (for me at least) once you do those few minutes of work, you'll be in the right mindset to continue working on it until you're satisfied.
I hope this helps my fellow procrastinators, and I in no way take credit for this idea. I think I found it on Pinterest in college when I didn't want to do homework 乁[ ◕ ᴥ ◕ ]ㄏ
