First Impressions 🎀

I've had 4 of my 5 classes so far (one doesn't start til october) and I definitely have some thoughts on them, so I thought I'd share my first impressions!

Principals of Accounting II:

the professor seems a bit disorganized, nervous, and semi chaotic but I like his energy

so many people in southern attire, I was a bit surprised

might take a decent amount of study time and energy to keep my grade up in the class, but I'm always up for a challenge and I definitely know I'm capable

gotta figure out a time efficient study routine for this class

Learning (Psychology)

professor has an accent, no idea where he's from, but it's a cool and thankfully understandable accent

feels very content heavy. I definitely want to buy the textbook for this class

need to find a way to stay awake, that's one of the classrooms that make me sleepy

that professor likes to talk for sure (1 hour and 15 min of just the syllabus? man's can talk)

Integrated Survey of Organic and Bio Chemistry

the professor is definitely a science guy, him being the professor makes perfect sense

i really like how he explains and teaches

appreciate that all the content needed is already posted to our class online and all the slides are available already

I love science based classes because I know how to succeed in them and this one seems no different

I have a friend in the class so that's nice!

Intro To Business (Online)

I gotta make sure I time manage for this class cause otherwise, I'm gonna fall behind

an introduction video?? why not just a discussion post?? ahhhhh

Overall, with working full time, this is going to be an incredibly stressful, incredibly busy semester, but I'm so up for the challenge, and I know I can do it. I just gotta study efficiently, time manage properly, and keep disciplined. I WILL be successful.

i am in such a blurb roll rn. samy was ecstatic to say the least about these goals

even though it was halloween, samy's eyes were glued to the hockey game playing on the tv while the pregame happened around her. everyone knew already that if the sharks, devils, or canucks were playing, she was watching no matter what was happening.

she followed her boyfriend around the screen as he glided across the ice fighting for the puck with his line. they were playing good tonight and something in the girl felt a goal coming. it's been building since the season started and she knew it was in sight for will.

he pushed against the blackhawks players, skating closer and closer to the goal. samy was literally on the edge of her seat as she mumbled things to herself about the game. from the kitchen, hannah laughed at her roommate's behavior.

"yeah, when she's focusing on hockey, everything else doesn't matter," the brunette chuckled with some of their other friends.

as soon as the puck slid into the back of the net after will's stick, samy was on her feet, catching everyone's attention at her sudden excitement.

"he scored! he scored! holy shit!" the younger hughes exclaimed as hannah hurried in to catch the replay. samy grbabed her friend's shoulders, shaking her and the drinks in their hands.

"will scored a goal! he scored his first goal!" she was bouncing on her heels making hannah bounce with her, both girls now screaming in excitement.

"no fucking way! oh my god," hannah laughed as they both turned back to see the multiple replays happening. the puck slid in with such ease.

samy grabbed her phone to text will even though he wouldn't look at his phone until after the game. she started spamming him with congratulations and i'm so proud of you and adding a hundred different emojis that definitely contributed to her slight drunkenness.

it wasn't long after when will scored his second goal just minutes before samy and her friends were about to head out for the night. the girl screamed, their neighbors definitely wondering what was going on. she jumped around in excitement, feeling extremely proud of her boyfriend scoring his first two nhl goals on the same night that also put them ahead of the blackhawks.

"they actually might win this! holy shit!" the brunette texted will again, not caring that he was gonna open his phone to probably over 50 messages from her. she couldn't help it.

this moment was so special and she was disappointed she wasn't there in person, but she couldn't be more proud of will. he dreamed of moments like these happening since they were little kids and now that it was happening really didn't feel real.

samy was still out when her phone buzzed and she saw will's name flash across the screen. the girl excused herself for a second to find a more quieter area to talk to him for a moment.

their call connected and samy immediately smiled when she saw will holding up the puck he scored.

"i can't believe it!! i'm so, so proud of you. we watched the game before we went out and it was honestly so amazing. you played so well," the brunette rushed out, her words slurring together slightly.

"i can't believe it either. i feel like i'm dreaming or something," will admitted.

"and you scored two! that was awesome. we were literally just about to leave when i saw your second goal," samy gushed and her words brought a bright pink flush to his cheeks.

it warmed his heart knowing samy still had on the game even though she obviously had plans for the night. it was those little things that proved to will that long distance was gonna be worth it. he didn’t doubt it anymore—and a part of himself still hated what he did to her.

“i love you, baby. have a good night out. text me when you get back to your apartment,” the blonde smiled, not wanting to keep her away for much longer. samy quickly leaned in, kissing her phone camera as if she was kissing him.

“i love, love, love you so much. celebrate those goals tonight!! i’ll text you,” the two shared a laugh before hanging up.

Language Resources 🎀

*that I currently use for studying Spanish. When I pick up studying Japanese again, I will make a list for that as well <3 I currently use a handful of resources for learning Spanish, and they've all proven very useful so far!

🩷 My Current Resources for Spanish

Busuu - hands down my favorite language learning app. So much better than Duolingo, in my opinion (especially for languages with a different alphabet/writing system). I bought the premium for a year, which will expire in Septmeber, but I'm debating renewing again because I love it so much.

LingQ - I like using this for reading in Spanish. It gives me different types of things to read about, and while I don't have premium, I do put all the words I don't know into flashcards on AnkiApp on my laptop and translate anything I don't know using SpanishDict.

SpanishDict - favorite translation/dictionary app. I know it has lessons you can use, tho I haven't tried it yet, but I really do love this app. It's super helpful when I'm making flashcards or writing random vocabulary notes.

Goodnotes - This is a general note-taking app, but I love it because it allows you to import and write on PDFs, and that's just perfect for me! I've downloaded free PDF short stories/children's stories in Spanish and made notes of words I don't know, and taken notes in the app too. Definitely my favorite notes app, ever.

Italki - I know this is a website, too, but I use the app. It lets you work with professional teachers/community tutors in your target language. You can have structured lessons or just use it for conversation practice. I did a trial lesson not too long ago and have an upcoming lesson booked out in about 5 days. You pay per lesson, so there is no subscription, and there are so many languages and teachers/tutors to choose from. I did a lot of research before choosing a teacher, and I'm very happy with my decision so far. Definitely useful if there's not native speakers near you or you're like me and not confident talking to people you know in your target language/their native language.

Quizlet/AnkiApp - I use AnkiApp more then quizlet, and the Anki I'm referring to is NOT the same way everyone else uses, but it's the flashcard app of preference at the moment. I tried the AnkiDroid app and hated it. But yeah, AnkiApp is useful for flashcards and I really like it. I have it on my Chromebook and my Ipad.

Netflix - I love watching shows in Spanish on Netflix so much. I am currently watching La Reina del Sur on it (used to watch that sporadically in the past at a friend's house) and plan on watching some other shows, including Elite.

Spotify - I enjoy listening to Spanish music and podcasts right now. The music is more of an entertaining/enjoyable fork of audio input, and the podcasts help me get a feel for speaking and pronunciation and I choose podcasts that speak on topics of interest tk help with vocabulary in those areas I'd like to be able to speak about.

Textbooks - I have 2 PDF textbooks, Gramatica de Uso del Español: A1-B2 and Gramatica de Uso del Español: B1-B2. I've heard these are great for learning Spanish (and they're both only written in Spanish, like there's no English in them) and plan on using them once I figure out how to take good and useful textbook notes! I definitely need to improve on my grammar.

Those are all my current Spanish resources! I'd definitely say my current level is like a high A1 right now, nearing A2, but I have just a little bit of work to do before I get there. These resources are definitely gonna help, tho!

spent three hours creating a class facilitation about deleuze for my post-structuralism class !

the class went really well, and my professor complimented my discussion questions and work! i love being able to show people about philosophical topics and make it relevant and more accessible !
