These ayurvedic cold remedies not only alleviate symptoms but also support overall wellness by balancing the body’s energies.
Understanding Cough and Cold in Ayurveda:
In ayurveda home remedies for coughs and colds are often seen as imbalances in the body’s doshas—Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. How to Use: Drinking tulsi tea or chewing fresh leaves with honey helps relieve symptoms.
4. Honey (Shahad):

How to Use: Consuming a spoonful of honey alone or mixed with warm water, ginger, or turmeric is effective.
5. Licorice (Yashtimadhu):
Benefits: Licorice root is a demulcent that coats the throat and reduces irritation. It also supports respiratory health.
How to Use: Licorice tea or chewing on licorice sticks (mulethi) can provide relief from coughs.
6. Steam Inhalation:
Benefits: Inhaling steam with herbs like eucalyptus or mint helps clear nasal passages and reduces congestion.
How to Use:Boil water, add herbs (eucalyptus leaves or mint leaves), and inhale the steam while covering your head with a towel.
7. Ayurvedic Formulations:
Examples: Ayurvedic formulations like Sitopaladi Churna, Talisadi Churna, or Trikatu churna are blends of herbs specifically for cough and cold relief. They can be taken with honey or warm water.
Lifestyle Tips:
Rest: Allow your body to recover by getting adequate rest.
Stay Hydrated: Drink warm water throughout the day to keep hydrated and to help thin mucus.
Avoid Cold Foods: Limit consumption of cold or processed foods that can aggravate symptoms.
When to Consult a Professional:
