i love the idea of dean and cas getting together and still being so shy about touching each other like...... they know it's allowed, even encouraged, but it feels....... forbidden......

dean puts his arm around cas' shoulder while they're watching a movie and they both freeze, sitting there stone-still until the credits roll, because leaning into the touch feels too indulgent but neither one of them wants to pull away

cas grabs dean's hand on impulse while they're walking next to each other. they're on a hunt and they end up taking down a werewolf with their hands somehow still intertwined because what are they gonna do, let go and call attention to it?

the sex is awkward and stilted at first because they're unsure of how much is too much, even then. dean always feels too needy with his partners, and cas knows he wants too much because honestly he'd like nothing more than to somehow meld his body into dean's

the levee breaks after some life or death experience, because that's the only time these two have been taught it's okay to be vulnerable, and they start easing into a (somewhat) normal, healthy(ish) relationship after that. maybe even a bit too intense, too touchy-feely.

all dean knows is that he's finally allowed to cup cas' face between his hands when he's not dying.

if your brother killed you but your father brought you back to life and then your brother killed himself in front of you and you blamed yourself for it for an entire year and then he came back to life and he still claimed to want to kill you and you didn't believe him but you didn't know if you'd ever really known him any more and you couldn't make him be honest with you without hurting him and maybe even that wouldn't work but it didn't matter because you couldn't bear to do it either way but he was threatening other people you cared about too so you HAD to hurt him to just to make him stop and because you were scared he was going to get himself killed or even kill himself again and then you took him home but only as a prisoner and your mother had to bargain for his life because your father claimed to want to kill him and then your mother died and your father was planning mass-murder-suicide including of you and you had nowhere to turn but your brother and so you sprung him out of jail and threatened to kill him because you knew trusting him was dangerous but you didn't have any choice any more and then he saved your life. by killing himself in front of you. would that be fucked up or what

Rodney had been trying not to fret about that timer for his entire life, and through college and his first early jobs, he'd mostly managed that, given the incredible long time left on it. Obviously, he wanted to meet his soulmate, because who wouldn't? But after the first time it dipped down into hours and then soared back up, he couldn't help but wonder. After the fourth time, he started to take it personally. In Antarctica, with it approaching dangerously low numbers under his many layers of clothing, he considered finding a place to hide, just to give this person what they apparently wanted, which was a lifetime free of him, but there was work to do, and plenty of it, and he couldn't restrain his curiosity quite enough.

When that ridiculously beautiful man sat in the control chair, he would've been staring at him regardless, but the way he touched his wrist, just as his own twinged... Rodney hardly dared to blink. "I get the strangest feeling you've been avoiding me," he finally said. Then, "Do you have any idea what you've just done?"
